thinking abt changing this blog's handle to verde musgo ("moss green" in ptbr). ólgusjór still holds some significance bc it was my username pretty much everywhere from high school to abt 3 years ago, and more so bc close friends from that time called me that and such. it took me some time to be able to let it go on other social media, but now tumblr is virtually the last one where i still use it... it remains one of my favorite words bc of the combination of letters, pronunciation (not only in icelandic but also the way my friends used to say it) and definition ("rough waters, raging sea"—leaving it here for when it's gone), but i've been orbiting around verde musgo for some time now and it's my handle for avoiding my actual name on a bunch of places already. and i already secured it on here with a private blog after all. there might be something in this movement from water to earth huh. (((just added my original post tag to this post and realized i might have to change it too since there'll be no relation between ó and verde musgo lol)))

i know im new but i saw this and i couldnt resist.

Ó, with is, gives us the contraction ós (not to be confused with os: “over, above”)

Why, then, is ó found in phrases such as ó thuaidh and ó dheas?

North: thuaidh Northbound: ó thuaidh Away from the North: aduaidh

South: theas Southbound: ó dheas Away from the South: aneas

Surely ó here cannot mean “from” or any of its previously listed meanings?
