At first glance, Neuvillette didn’t look like a man able to show his emotions. He was quite clumsy, he didn’t understand humans’ feelings well, and he had a hard time understanding himself too. He was the embodiment of justice in Fontaine, the chief of the law, the "Ordainer of Inexorable Judgment", and as such, he only showed a stoic, cold behaviour. Yet this man could be easily upset, if a trial or a duel ended badly, you knew that, as his wife, you would have to face him once he came back home. And of course, you would have to console him and to kiss his tears away so that the sky would go back to his original colour, your kisses chasing both his sadness and the rain.
And once again today, dark clouds stained the sky above Fontaine, the rain and thunder ragging outside your house. You were cooking something to eat for dinner when you heard the front door opening, followed by the heavy footsteps of your husband and the sound of his keys as he put them down. You wiped your hands on the apron you were wearing, and smiled softly as Neuvillette entered in the kitchen. It wasn’t surprising to see him upset, the rain told you that way before he even came back home. Neuvillette slowly walked to you, looking dejected as he rested his hands on your hips and kissed your forehead.

He was pissed because of the duels, because people were ready to fight and hurt themselves, or worse, die, just because they wanted to prove themselves innocent, or because they wanted to protect their honour. In the end, most of the time they fought for nothing, because the duels weren’t fair, and they lost most of the time. He was just angry because all his work was to entertain people instead of trying and finding the truth.
“𝐈'𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞...“ He whispered, his body leaning down so he could rest his head on your shoulder, his arms wrapping around your waist and holding you tight against him. His body was stiff and cold, mostly because of his soaked clothes. "You’re drenched, love. Let’s go take a bath, okay?" You smiled softly and kissed his cheek, your fingers gently running through his hair. Dinner was ready, and even if it was cold when you come back, you could just reheat it. Neuvillette was more important right now. You took his hand, and you could feel your heart melting with love as he intertwined his fingers with yours, following you quietly as you walked to the bathroom. You sat on the edge of the bathtub, and turned on the water, running a bath for him. He was leaning against the counter with the sink when you stood up again, his eyes already on you. You helped him remove his clothes, sighing when you felt how cold he was.
"I know you’re upset, Neuvi’. But you have to stop walking in the rain, I don’t want you to get sick." He mumbled something and leaned down a little, pressing a soft kiss on your lips, his body relaxing a little more, thanks to your presence and the warmth the hot water of the bath brought in the bathroom. “𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞, 𝐘/𝐧...“ His voice was merely above a murmur, his fingers slowly undoing the knot of your apron behind your back as he nuzzled his face in your neck, his nose brushing against your skin as he breathed in your scent. “...𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐱 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬... 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮...“ He mumbled quietly, his hands slipping under your shirt, feeling the warmth of your skin against his palms. He sighed deeply, his head falling back against the edge of the tub as he felt his body relaxing, his half-closed eyes gazing at you while you removed your clothes, another smaller sigh leaving his mouth as he admired you with such fervent love in his eyes, it made your heart beat faster. You stepped in the bathtub, sitting between his legs with your back resting against his chest. His arms immediately wrapped around you, his hands resting on your stomach and his thumbs rubbing slow circles against your skin.
