EYES DON’T LIE — choso kamo [chapter one]

"Is your brother finally back?"

With a radiant grin, Yuji vigorously nods, and his excitement is palpable from the gleam in his eyes. The news of his elder brother's return after almost two years apart has filled him with joy.

"He's been back for nearly two weeks, but he was staying at the hotel with the band to iron out some scheduling issues. He came home last night!" He exclaims, enthusiasm bubbling over.

Having completed your last class of the day, you step out of the door, and Yuji rushes towards you to share the exhilarating news. As you both make your way away from the building, you and Yuji decide to meet up with Megumi and Nobara at a cafe on campus to catch up on some homework.

You respond with a hum, reciprocating the grin on your friend's face. "That's wonderful news! What are your plans now that he's back?" Yuji leisurely walks beside you, arms casually behind his head, deep in thought about the possibilities. "Well, I don't know yet, but I think one of his bandmates is hosting a party this week to celebrate the success of the tour."

Hallow Domain – the boy band with a total of five members, Choso included. Yuji always mentions the band, but you never took the time to look them up, only catching a few songs that your best friend would insist you listen to. Their music suited your taste, appreciating any genre with a good beat and meaningful lyrics.

Yuji is their number one fan, especially with his older brother being an integral part of the group.

"A party, huh? Where's it going to be hosted?" you inquire, placing your bag on the table at the café before settling into your seat. Megumi and Nobara are already seated, papers scattered around them as they work, until the mention of 'party' catches their attention, one expressing interest and the other sighing.

"A party? Why wasn't I informed?" Nobara squeals, her papers losing priority.

Yuji chuckles awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. "Well, it's a celebration for my brother's band."

"Your brother is back?" Megumi asks before sighing, "That means Gojo is back, damn."

"What's wrong with Gojo?" you inquire.

Megumi shakes his head, "Everything. But mainly, he used to babysit me most of the time when my dad wasn't home, even though I was old enough to take care of myself. He always bothered me."

Yuji chuckles, "Well, Gojo is hosting the party at his house since it's the biggest."

Nobara narrows her eyes, clasping her hands under her chin as she scrutinizes their youngest friend. "Are we invited?"

"Well, I don't think—"

"You better get us an invite. No. Matter. What," she seethes out slowly, glaring as Yuji flinches before nodding quickly. You chuckle at the scene as you proceed to work on your project that is due soon, while the rest of the group engages in a lively discussion (mainly Yuji and Nobara) about the upcoming party until your name is mentioned.

"Maybe you'll finally get to meet Choso in person rather than hearing a bunch of nonsense stories from Yuji," Nobara states, grinning at you.

"Hey, they are really good stories!"

"Keep thinking that."

"Why you—"

It's true, though; you've never met Yuji's older brother since you became friends two years ago. Nobara and Megumi have already met Choso and the rest of the band due to their connections and having known Yuji since high school. You've met some of the bandmates, such as Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, as they had breaks in the middle of the tour for a couple of days. Still, every time you had the chance to meet Choso, something always came up that prevented the encounter.

Yuji has shown you pictures of the man, but they were pretty old, and apparently, Choso hated having his picture taken most of the time. Yet, the stories your best friend has shared have made you appreciate how Choso always prioritizes Yuji, especially being the only blood family he has left besides their deadbeat mother.

You shrug, "I doubt I could go, I have some homework to catch up on."

Nobara whines, "What? No, you have to go! It will be a lot of fun, and you'll regret not coming, come on!"

"You know she's right, homework is more important," Megumi comments lowly, his eyes focusing on his paper as Nobara glares at the Sea Urchin.

"Stay out of this, you're making it worse!"

He shrugged, not really caring for his remark, "I was just stating the facts."

Sighing, you know that Nobara won't let this go until you say yes, and you don't feel the energy to go, especially since you already went partying almost two weeks ago at a club with her and Maki. But the girl keeps begging, and you know she won't stop anytime soon, as you can see Megumi plugging his ears from the whining.

"Fine! I'll go, but please stop the begging," you exclaim, annoyance evident on your face from the pressure.

Nobara grins, sitting back down in her seat in victory with no complaints as the dark-haired male shakes his head at your response for losing your main focus.

"You will thank me later for this! Plus, you'll meet Choso, he's quite the looker, you know." She winks while Yuji scrunches up his face in disgust.

"That's my brother, don't say that stuff," he whines, covering his ears.

Nobara rolls her eyes, waving their friend's tantrum away. "What? That your brother is hot? It's just an observation."

"Yeah, a disgusting one at that! None of you can think like that about my brother, that's just weird and would be going behind my back," Yuji claims, shivering at the thought of one of his friends hooking up with his half-brother.

Chuckling, you place your hand over his in comfort, "Don't worry, Yuji. She's just making jokes, right Nobara?" The ginger rolls her eyes, "About him being attractive? Nope."

You glare, urging her to just resolve the issue.

"Yeah, yeah. That won't happen, relax, Pinky." Nobara sighs, looking at her pedicure without care. Yuji's eye twitches, "I told you to stop calling me Pinky!"

"Well, your hair is pink if you haven't noticed,"

"That's not what I mean!"

You and Megumi sigh, already annoyed with the constant arguing that happens at least once every day. Standing up from your seats and grabbing your bags, you both choose to ignore the bickering friends and decide to head out to focus better.

"They never will stop, will they?" You question, linking arms with the taller boy who shakes his head. "It's funny if you think there's a chance they ever will."

"Hey, don't leave us here!"

As you and Megumi walk away from the cafe, leaving behind the chaos of your friends' arguments, you can't help but laugh at the familiarity of their interactions. Despite the constant bickering, it's clear that your group shares a strong bond.

Megumi holds a ghost of a smile, glancing at you. "They're a handful, but I wouldn't trade them for anything."

You chuckle, "True. It's never a dull moment with them around."

As you stroll across the campus, the conversation shifts to the upcoming party. Megumi, always the reserved one, seems less enthusiastic about the idea of attending a celebration. However, you can't deny a slight sense of curiosity about meeting Yuji's older brother, Choso, in person.

"So, any tips on surviving a party hosted by Gojo?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.

Megumi sighs, "Prepare for chaos. Gojo knows how to throw a wild party. Just go with the flow and try not to get involved with any of the members."

nobara likes her hands.

her fingers are long, and the pads are hardened from years of training and firing nail after nail at difficult curses.

the palms are calloused, the skin harsh and rugged from the tight hold she constantly has on her hammer, and the power she swings it with.

there are tiny bumps and uneven spots that sometimes catch people off guard, and the skin is always a little bit dry, no matter how often she moisturizes and tries her best to take care of them.

there are old scars from the times she's pricked herself with the nails she uses as a weapon, ones that healed over but left behind traces of her past mistakes.

most times, she feels proud of her hands. all the scars and hard skin and rough texture—they're all proof of her hard work, of the years of practice and pain and bullshit she's had to go through to be where she is today. they're evidence of how far she's come along, and how much more she has ahead of her.

but other times—rarely, quietly, and discretely, she dislikes them. hates how rough they are, how they're not dainty or pretty. she doesn't like how they're not soft, not smooth or unblemished. they don't look delicate or gentle.

she doesn't like how sometimes she'll look at them and suddenly she's flung back in time to the girl who was driven away from her town for—nothing. no reason.

it doesn't happen often, not at all. she's a confident woman, one who takes pride in all her work and effort. but sometimes—just sometimes—that confidence is more a facade than anything else. a small one, where she can quietly hide her thoughts from people until she's able to push them away and get back on her feet.

and it's during those times, those tiny moments sprinkled throughout her days, that you'll see through the act, slide open the curtains and silently sit with her.

you'll take her hands and trace over each scar, listening to the stories behind each one. you'll play with her fingers, fiddle with them and intertwine them with your own. you'll lay down light kisses over the rugged skin, feel the tiny bumps under your lips, and place the palm of her hand over your beating chest.

you won't need to have a conversation, or exchange a word, because the love and care behind all of your actions speak louder to her than any syllable could.

and when that happens, she'll rest a little easier, hold you a little closer, and love herself a little more.

Theme: Underrated and under-appreciated characters! Give me Atsushi Sendo, Choso, Connie Springer, or Takeomi Akashi! Write about the time Yuta Okkotsu got stuck in an elevator, or about the misadventures of college athlete Bertholdt Hoover! Overall, this summer shall be filled with love for our “fodder” characters (as Shion Madarame would put it!)

description: in which a girl unwittingly becomes involved with a handsome stranger in a club, oblivious to his true identity of being in a famous boyband… OR in which you and Choso must conceal your secret meetings from your friends and his bandmates, especially from his younger brother and your best friend, Yuji.

Tonight was movie night and Yuji invited you, Megumi, and Nobara to chill at his house since most of you didn't have any classes until tomorrow evening. You were all huddled in the living room, the TV displaying the horror film that Nobara suggested (mostly because she wanted Yuji to get scared).

You and Megumi were sitting on the couch as Nobara occupied the loveseat while Yuji sat on the floor, closest to the screen, which wasn't the smartest move for him.

"Tell me why'd you pick this one again?" Megumi complained, eyeing the ginger-haired girl with narrow eyes.

She snickered, a smirk rising on her pink lips. "You'll see soon enough."

"I wanted to re-watch Human Earthworm, this one looks lameee," Your best friend complains, lying down on the floor with his hand holding up his head.

"If you don't wanna watch it then get out!"

"Hey, this is my house if you didn't realize."

"Uh, I believe it belongs to your brother, smartass!"

You giggled at their bickering, realizing that Nobara was somewhat right since the house was in his brother's name. Choso Kamo. You felt odd even thinking about him due to the small secret that you're keeping from everyone.

Megumi rolled his eyes, leaning back against the couch with an arm lying behind your head as he waited for someone to play the damn movie. You grabbed the remote, stepping in between your two friends who continued to jab insults at one another.

"Alright, you two. Let's just watch this one and maybe another day, we can watch Human Earthworm, okay?" You looked between the pair, hands on your waist like a mother scolding her children as you tried to compromise the situation.

Yuji and Nobara crossed their arms, looking away from one another, huffing.

"Fine by me."

"I don't agree, but sure."

You smiled. Such children.

Pressing the play button, you sat back down and watched the movie begin, keeping your eyes on the screen while moving closer to your dark-haired friend, who was still bored.

You leaned over to whisper, "If I get scared, I'm jumping on you to cover me."

Megumi turned his head, brows raised as he looked at you like you were crazy. "I rather you didn't."

"Too bad, you sat down beside me today. Yuji usually keeps me company for these types of movies," You shrugged, not caring for his approval as he knew you get jumpy from scary things.

He scoffed, shaking his head before shifting a bit over to the end of the sofa in case you did fling at him to be a shield. Like that would stop you from trying. The first few minutes of the movie were rolling, introducing the characters as you watched in interest until Yuji spoke up loudly.

"Oi, Choso! Can you turn the lights off for us?"

Your body slightly tensed up, not realizing that the person you've been avoiding would be in his own home today. You glanced to the side, seeing the male come down the stairs with a black tight shirt and gray sweatpants on, his hair no longer in his usual style as it was rather down on his shoulders.

No longer paying attention to the movie, your eyes trained on the male, eyeing his movements and the way he looked so appealing to you in his outfit.

He just had to come down in that combo, you mused inwardly. Curse the gray sweatpants theory.

Choso moved towards the switch, turning the lights off as he waved to everyone in greeting before glancing at you quickly, already seeing your eyes trained on him.

You could see his lips twitch into a grin in the low lighting, probably out of amusement from catching you staring at him out in the open with your friends and his brother.

"What's playing?" He asked, directing the question to his little brother as his eyes cut contact with you, making sure nobody caught the both of you.

You shifted your head back to the screen quickly, face burning as he caught you ogling for god knows how long. You could tell that Nobara and Yuji didn't see anything since their backs were facing you but you didn't think about the other. From the corner of your eye, Megumi tilted his head with a puzzled expression as he wondered what that whole exchange was about.

You messed up.

"Ahhh, I don't even know anymore. Kugaski put it on," Yuji shrugged lazily, eyes still trained on the screen as the movie began its first act of horror.

"Wanna watch it with us?" Nobara asked, inviting the male to join.

Choso shook his head, not really interested in watching. "Nah, I'm good. I'll just be in the kitchen."

You didn't glance his way as he left the room, eyes zeroing on the screen yet your ears couldn't focus on the sound due to your heart beating fast from your little interaction. It didn't feel awkward after finding out you hooked up, rather felt like there was some unresolved tension between the both of you.

And you didn't know if you wanted to cross that bridge to find out.

You didn't understand what you were feeling, knowing that even attempting to get close to the guy would make you face more consequences, especially with your best friend. Even with that, Megumi kept burning holes in the side of your head whenever he glanced your way, causing you to fidget in your seat.

Megumi was smart... too smart for your liking right now.

"I should probably get some snacks for us," Yuji stated, moving to stand up from his position until Megumi spoke up and mentioned you.

"Didn't you want to grab a drink too? Maybe you could go get the snacks since you don't really like watching the scary parts, right?" He proclaimed, overly concerned for your well-being all of a sudden.

You narrowed your eyes at the male, knowing what he was up to. He wanted to test his theory of the interaction between you and Choso, backing you up into a corner without a say in the matter of going to the kitchen without a reasonable excuse.

"Well, actually I'm okay —"

"I don't really wanna miss too much of the movie, you know where the snacks are, right?" Yuji interrupts you from denying the request, leaving you to see his puppy dogs pleading with you to get it. "Pleaseeee?"

You sighed, not wanting to say no to his face, especially already feeling like you had a debt to repay him for hiding a big secret. "Fine."

Yuji grinned widely. "Thank you bestie, you're the best!"

"Mhm, I know."

Getting off the couch, not without flicking Megumi in the forehead a bit hard for his involvement, you walked towards the brightly lit kitchen where the person you dreaded to face directly.

As you entered quietly, you could see Choso's back facing you as he leaned against the counter while scrolling on his phone and eating a few grapes.

You cleared your throat, grabbing his attention as he jumped slightly before turning in your direction. His brows raised as he looked at you, surprised to see you come by alone, while you just opted for an awkward smile as you pointed to one of the cabinets.

"Sorry, we just wanted some snacks..." You voiced quietly, the nerves reaching up your throat causing you to become too shy in front of the male.

Choso broke his stare, clearing his throat before nodding, "Ah, yeah, go ahead."

You nodded, lips pressed in a thin line before moving towards the other side of the kitchen. You knew where the snacks were since you came to the house almost daily, basically becoming your second home.

As you took some chocolates and chips from the cupboard, you swear you could feel eyes targeting your movements, knowing Choso was watching.

The kitchen was silent, the muffled sounds of television playing in the background with Yuji whimpering quietly while Nobara giggled. That twisted girl. It was a bit funny but you wouldn't admit that to your friend.

"You know your way around here, huh?" Choso voiced, breaking your thoughts as you didn't expect him to start a conversation, let alone with you.

You turned your head, shyly nodding. Gosh, when have you ever been this shy before? "Ah, yeah. I come over a lot to chill with Yuji, hence how I know where everything will be..."

He nodded, taking note of your comment before sipping his drink as you turned back around to your task. The tension was thick in the room, the heavy secret lingering between you was dreadful as you pretended nothing ever happened.

I'm gonna kill Megumi for this.

You cleared your throat, trying to diffuse the tension. "Uh, got any plans this week?"

Back still turned, you didn't have the guts to face him directly when speaking as you knew you might become flustered or trip on something.

"Only some band stuff, nothing too important." Choso voiced as you hummed in response, not really knowing what to say. You prepared the snack bowls while the only thing left to complete was the popcorn.

You heard Nobara shout out for you from the living room. "You almost done?!"

"Give me a few minutes!"

Laying the popcorn bag in the microwave and pushing the button, you turned to the fridge to obtain a few drinks for the group before placing it in the tray with the other snacks.

"How about you, any plans?" The male asked, eyeing the way you neatly placed the items while having a small satisfied smile on your face as you organized everything.

He snickered inwardly at the sight. Cute.

You turned in his direction before shaking your head, "Uh, not really. Too busy with my program right now."

Choso hummed, leaning more forward on the counter to listen. "What's your program?"

You mentioned what it was, stating the career path that you chose for the upcoming future. While speaking, you slightly got a bit more confident as you both talked to one another normally, the previous situation not lingering in your head at the moment.

Choso looked interested in what career you wanted to pursue, looking impressed at the amount of work you were dedicating yourself to. "Sounds pretty rough, are you sure you're all good up there?" He motions to his head, referencing if you have gone crazy yet from the amount of work.

You giggled quietly. "Yeah, no need to worry."

He shrugged, yet a playful grin exposed him. "Just making sure, don't want Yuji to become a victim with one of your breakdowns."

He could see you rolling your eyes from his lame joke but there was still a grin on your face, meaning he was getting on your good side. Choso already knew a bit about yourself from that time at the club and when you both arrived at your apartment before you did... that.

The microwave beeped meaning the popcorn finished as you retrieved the bag before opening the steaming snack to pour into the bowl. You knew Yuji liked his popcorn with cheddar as you glanced around the kitchen for the powder before opening one of the cabinets to see it almost near the top shelf.

Of course, Yuji placed it there. That dumbo.

You weren't exactly too short but weren't too tall, thus causing you to lean up on your tippy toes to reach the item as you could feel your cropped shirt rising, exposing your back from the amount of stretching. Barely grazing the item, you were about to give up on the damn thing until you felt something graze your back along with a hand brushing past your own to retrieve it.

Your eyes widened, breathing still for a second as you could feel his presence with his warm chest pressed behind you before he placed the item in front of your line of vision.

"Could've asked for my help, you know," Choso mumbled, his voice sounding closer than before as his breath hit your ear, causing you to shiver slightly from the rising tension.

Fuck, what's happening?

You turned your body around slightly, no longer feeling his back but rather facing him more directly this time, the closest you have been this whole night. You felt flustered from the minor distance, meeting his mischievous eyes with your baffled ones as you slowly grabbed the item out from his hand.

"I thought I could handle it..." You whispered, the nerves returning to hit you as a burning sensation felt present upon your ears and cheeks.

You were trapped between the counter and his body, no longer aware of anything besides the man who caught your undivided attention. You stared at one another with some hidden craving that was brewing to be exposed beneath your lidded eyes.

The scene felt familiar to both of you, causing Choso to lean a bit closer to test the waters.

"Is that a bet, pretty?"

Fuck, Fuck, Fuck.

He knew what he was doing and you knew what he was instigating. Those familiar words sparked a feeling within you that had your mind shouting to stop this from going any further, yet your body betrayed you.

You saw his eyes glance at your parted lips before shifting back to your hazy eyes. You didn't know what to do in this situation, realizing that you weren't exactly alone right now to be acting like this, nonetheless, to even do something again.

Yet, you responded to the same action by looking down at his moist lips before shifting back to his lustful stare.

"Maybe —"

A scream echoed out throughout the house.

"OH MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!"

The trance you both were in broke immediately as you heard Yuji shout frightfully from the jump-scares in the living room. The moment you realize what you are about to do causes you to push Choso gently back before retrieving the snack tray quickly, avoiding his concerned eyes.

"I —"

Not having any more words to say, you bowed your head before rushing to the living room. Choso didn't stop you, yet you swore you heard him mumble your name as you ran off.

"Y/N, WHERE ARE THE SNACKS?!" Nobara shouted at the same time you arrived with everything, annoyance evident from the shouting.

"No need to yell, it's here!" Your voice wavered a bit as you placed the tray on the coffee table.

Yuji hummed happily, sending you a wink. "You're an angel, thank you!"

You curtly nodded your head, your thoughts and feelings were all over the place as you struggled to understand how you almost committed another situation with your best friend's older brother.

Sitting back down on the couch, your ginger-haired friend mentioned to you how Yuji almost cried from the jumpscares and how funny it was to witness it. The pink-haired male began to complain about it, stating that he just didn't expect a creature to jump out during a calm scene, making excuses for his high-pitched scream.

The cushion beside you sank a bit as Megumi moved closer, eyes full of questions. "Everything good?"

You nodded, brows furrowed. "Yeah, what's up?"

"The ceiling," You rolled your eyes at his literal answer, "but what I'm wondering is about you and Choso."

Your heart dropped, knowing Megumi was trying to figure out why you took so long in the kitchen for just a couple of snacks.

You shrugged nonchalantly. "What about him?"

He glanced towards your friend in the middle before lowering his tone as the movie continued to play loudly in the background. "Do you... have a crush on him or something?"

DING, DING, DING!

EVERYONE, WE MAY HAVE A WINNER!

NOW WHAT SHALL WE DO EVERYONE?

DENY, DENY, DENY!

You scoffed, immediately shaking your head. "No, no. You're getting the wrong idea, Gumi."

He tilted his head, green eyes narrowed at your poker face. "Am I? Then what is it? Cause I saw the way you were looking at him earlier."

You sighed. You knew your friend wouldn't drop it until you said something that satisfied his curiosity. "I was only staring 'cause he's... you know... pretty cute to look at."

Megumi scrunched up his face, wondering if that was really it and not what he originally thought. "That's it? Cause he's cute?"

You tsked, waving a finger in his face, "I said pretty cute, notice the difference?" He rolled his eyes, huffing at your tone as you slightly chuckled.

"Listen, don't tell Yuji I was thinking like that, he would just lecture about the whole thing." You mumbled, eyes shifting to your best friend with much warmth.

Megumi sighed and promised not to say a word. He agreed that Yuji would blow it out of proportion if he found out about your thoughts about his brother, just like how he did the same to Nobara a few days ago.

"Alright, I'll take that answer... for now. But why'd you take so long in the kitchen?" He pressed further again.

You shrugged, blatantly lying quickly with your tongue, "He was just asking me about school and how Yuji was doing while he was away, that's all."

"Really?"

"Yes, Gumi. Now shhh, watch the movie."

You waved him off, hoping that this would be the last time he'd be on your back about Choso. Megumi sighed before shifting back to his original spot on the couch. The tension in your shoulders loosened from the intense interrogation before focusing back on the film, even though you weren't that interested anymore.

Rather more focused on the tattooed male sitting in the next room over.

If Yuji hadn't shouted earlier, Choso would have probably kissed you from the way he was instantly staring at your lips. The way your bodies were a few inches apart from directly touching, leaning a bit further would've sealed the deal. If that interruption hadn't happened... you knew you would return the action without hesitation.

Do I have a crush on him? It feels wrong to have one, you glanced at Yuji with worry. But he just feels right for some reason.

"HOLY SHIT!"

"AHH!"

Another big jumpscare.

Nobara fell out of her seat, candy spilling on the floor while Yuji had another heart attack, a blanket suffocating his head to avoid the gore. While for you, the promise made to your gloomy friend earlier came true.

You jumped towards Megumi, hiding half your body behind his stiff back as you shook his arm to annoy him further. He gaped at your actions with annoyance, grunting at the amount of force you laid against him.

"I thought you were joking!"

"... IT'S GONE NOW, GET OFF!"

Several days had passed since Yuji's mention of the impending party, and the confirmation of your invitation was secured through his direct persistence to Gojo. Now, on the eve of the event, you and Nobara found yourselves amidst the commotion of your apartment, surrounded by piles of scattered clothes, as you attempted to select the perfect outfits.

"Why do you have these?" Nobara questioned wearily, lifting a piece of clothing to your face.

You snatched the item, pushing it back into the closet with a nonchalant shrug. "It was an impulsive buy..."

Amidst the wardrobe chaos, laughter filled the air as Nobara shook her head. "Impulsive buys are dangerous, especially when we're scrambling to find the perfect outfit. Can't believe we're stressing over this."

Joining in the laughter, you acknowledged the absurdity of the situation. "True, true. But you know how Gojo is about parties – he expects everyone to be on their A-game, even with their fashion choices."

The girl sighed, "I guess we'll have to keep looking to meet those 'expectations'."

With a determined glint in your eyes, the search for the ideal attire continued. Laughter and exclamations resonated through the apartment as various clothing options were pulled out, and the pros and cons of each were debated.

"Oh! What about that lucky dress you wore weeks ago at the club?" Nobara exclaimed.

You scrunched up your face, "The red one?"

"Mhm, the one you got lucky with that handsome guy," She smirked, tilting her head, "What was even his name? I was too gone to even know how he looked like really and Maki kept taking care of me."

You sighed, dropping the rejected pile back into your dresser, "Well, I was a bit buzzed, and the club was too loud to hear him, but I think it started with a K? Uh, maybe Kai? Who knows."

"You don't even remember the name of the guy you slept with?!" Nobara's jaw dropped at the revelation.

"It was a while ago and a long night, I was buzzed!" You defended, grumbling at the realization that you forgot to ask for the man's information before he left.

"Mhm, a long steamy night indeed," Nobara voiced with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

You grabbed a pillow off your bed, hurling it across the room to hit your friend's head with a heated face, confirming her suggestive comment.

"Shut up!"

Almost two weeks prior, a decision was made among the girls to embrace a carefree weekend at the club and to have you get to know someone. Shots were taken to induce a bit of a buzz between you and Maki, yet the youngest in the group went wild with the free drinks that kept arriving from random strangers.

No complaints from your group, just keep them coming.

"Aren't we such lucky ladies, huh?" Nobara shouted in the loud club, tipping her head back to finish the strong liquor. Maki chuckled, sweat glistening from the extensive dancing they had indulged in. "You sure you mean all of us? 'Cause all the free drinks are gone because of you."

Shaking your head with a smile playing on your lips, you reveled in the moment with your friends. Despite the looming stress of school, Nobara had pulled you and Maki out of your apartments for a night of fun at the club. Though you knew you should've stayed home to study, the prospect of a carefree night outweighed your academic concerns.

While Yuji insisted on joining the three of you, Nobara strictly insisted it was a girl's night, and Megumi would rather chain himself to his room than go to a club.

Nonetheless, Yuji's constant messages flooded your phone asking about how the night was going and what you were doing, a testament to his eagerness in wanting to be part of the night.

Nobara abruptly sat down in the booth, her cheeks flushed as she scanned the bar for interesting company. You and Maki engaged in a conversation about her boyfriend, Yuta, and the plans they were making for his homecoming from his abroad trip. Suddenly, your arm was subjected to multiple hits from the side.

"Ow! What was that for!?" You shouted, twisting your head to glare at your drunk friend who persistently smacked you. The ginger-haired girl giggled, pointing across the bar to indicate why she required your attention. "Look over there, those guys are pretty cute, and one of them keeps checking you out!"

"What?"

Following her gaze, you took a moment to survey the scene, catching sight of the group she mentioned. Squinting in the dimly lit bar, you struggled to discern their features, but the eyes of one man met yours with evident interest.

"Huh, they are pretty good-looking..." You mumbled, maintaining eye contact with him as he glanced back and forth between his friend in front of him, and then back to you.

Maki tried to join in seeing what all the commotion was about, but the dim lighting made it hard to see any detailed observations. Shrugging her shoulders, she commented, "She's not wrong, that guy is checking you out. A bit much, may I add."

Nobara bumped her shoulders against yours, hiccuping as she slurred her words, "Go talk to h-him! Maybe this is your chance to get laid or ... even a boyfriend!" Your face suddenly felt hot under the scrutiny of your friends discussing your love life.

"What? No, no, I can't—"

"You can, who's stopping you, huh? Listen, go over, make a flirty move, and see what happens. What can go wrong?" Her challenging tone resonated.

"I don't know, possibly rejection? Plus, he's a stranger," You hesitated, unsure about making a bold move like that. Maki placed a comforting hand on your shoulder, squeezing away the tension. "If you don't want to, it's okay, but just know that we'll be here until you give us a safe sign."

Contemplating the decision, you pondered if tonight was the night to break out of your shell. Wanting to become more confident, you seized the opportunity fueled by liquid courage. With a shot in hand, thrown back with determination, you slammed it onto the table and made your way to the man who had captivated your attention.

Maki whistled lowly, "Go get 'em,"

Nobara cheered drunkenly, smiling from ear to ear, "Make it worth his wild!"

Playfully glaring at your friends, you returned your focus to the handsome man with... a tattoo across his nose? You were surprised to see someone with such distinctive facial ink. However, you were never one to judge, especially with how his eyes followed your every move with a hint of amusement.

The girls observed as you engaged in conversation with the mysterious man, laughter resonating between the pair. With only a few minutes passing by, the distance dwindled, your chests practically touching, and the liquor provided the courage to place your hand on his biceps, whispering something into his ear.

From their point of view, it seemed he was intrigued by your suggestion, nodding with a small grin as you walked him out of the club, hand-in-hand.

Your friends smirked, keeping a discreet eye on you from their seats, acknowledging the thumbs-up you threw as a safe sign before walking out the door with your mysterious friend for the night.

"Well, I think we should leave and make sure she gets home safe," Maki sighed, gathering her things to depart, glancing at her wasted friend, "Nobara?”

The girl placed a hand on her stomach with a weary smile, her head spinning too fast for her liking before mumbling, "Uh, I may need a few more minutes.."

The memory brought a playful grin to Nobara's face as she reminisced about that lively night. "Remember how we danced like there was no tomorrow? I've never seen Maki let loose like that before. It was a wild night for sure."

You chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, and you were the life of the party with all those free drinks. I swear, people thought it was your birthday or something."

Nobara grinned mischievously, "Well, it might as well have been. Free drinks, my best friend hooks up with a handsome mystery guy, and Maki dancing —what more could a girl ask for?"

Leaning forward, raising an eyebrow, she continued, "So, you never did tell us what went down... did you make it worth his wild as I said?" Rolling your eyes at her suggestive tone, you remained silent, though your heated face spoke volumes, eliciting laughter from your friend.

Make it worth his wild, more like the opposite, you thought, as that specific night occasionally invaded your thoughts, providing a welcomed distraction from lectures and work, leaving you to fan yourself from the memories every time.

You cleared your throat, shielding your face from your friend's prying questions. "Next subject, please!"

Suddenly, Nobara's eyes sparkled with a mischievous idea. "You know what? Why not wear that lucky red dress to Gojo's party, it might bring some extra excitement, don't you think? Just change the shoes and accessories,"

Considering the suggestion, the thought of the red dress evoking memories of that night, you pondered, "Hm, you might be onto something. It did bring some good luck last time."

She shot a cheeky smile and winked, "Exactly! And who knows, maybe you'll run into Kai again."

With a shared laugh, you agreed to give the red dress another go. As you prepared for bed, the anticipation of the upcoming party combined with the memories of the club night, created a sense of excitement for the party that awaited you.
