GODPARENTS | SPENCER REID
Tumblr media
Description: You’re a wonderful godmother, always have been. Nothing could distract you from that. Queue the entrance of the ultimate distraction: Godfather Spencer Reid.
Word Count: 2,757.
Rating: M.
Warning/Includes: Sexual intercourse.
Jennifer Jareau is the closest thing you’ve got to a big sister. Your parents had placed you in grief counseling shortly after a loss in the family. You were only nine, but it impacted greatly - you felt alone, misunderstood, lost, hurt, confused. Little did you know, a twelve-year-old JJ would be in the other room, distraught by the loss of her older sister. And once the two of you met, chatting, laughing, confessing your darkest secrets, you didn’t feel so alone anymore. Jennifer Jareau helped you heal, and you could only hope she’d say the same about you.
19 years later, with a friendship thick and strong as stone, she gave birth to your godson - Henry. She had asked you be his godmother long before her due date, insisting that there was no woman she trusted as much. You cried. You hugged her. You talked to her stomach. It was a good day.
The day Henry was born was even better. You met him just hours after his birth, and fell in love instantly. You kissed JJ on top of her head, told her she did such a good job, leaned in to hug Will and held your godson. He was the spitting image of his mother, and you cared for both of them immensely. However, with you living nearly an hour away at the time, your reunion with them was cut short.
By the time Henry turned one, you had a cozy Virginia apartment and went to see JJ as offen as possible. Even visiting Will and Henry when JJ was off on a case.
It wasn’t until Henry’s first birthday party that you met Spencer Reid. And everything began to fall apart.
JJ went all out. Balloons, bouncy houses, tons of food, tons of people, all gathered to celebrate little Henry. You, being the ditiful godmother, showed up with a bunch of presents in tow, ready to help JJ in any way you could.
Before having Henry blow out the candles on his birthday cake, Will and her took a family photo. “Okay!” She exclaimed. “[y/n], Spencer, come here! I want Henry to get a quick picture with both his godparents.”
You happily complied, skipping over to Henry with a great big smile on your face. Spencer was the first to introduce himself, “Hi,” he said, posing at Henry’s side with his vision focused on you. “I’m Spencer.”
“[y/n],” you smiled. “It’s nice to finally meet you, I’ve heard good things.”
“Same here,” he nodded.
You both crouched down to Henry’s level, smiling wide for the picture as JJ counted down, “Three, two, one!” She shouted, followed by the shutter of the camera. “Perfect! I’m getting that framed!”
You giggled at your friend’s excitement, looked at little Henry and gave him quick pecks all over his face. When you looked up at Spencer, he was watching you - a look of adoration on his face, a smile gracing his lips. You smiled back. And that’s how it started.
Later that night - when the lights had gone down, most of the guests had left, and the baby was asleep, - you were up in the guest room. Unpacking your bag, you listened to the distinct coversation between JJ and her coworkers - their laughs, the inside jokes, the bond.
Since it was adult time, you figured, one drink wouldn’t hurt. You pulled a small flask from your bag, checking the door before you stepped onto the balcony. You took in the view, and gulped down a considerable amount of alcohol, your nerves loosening by the second.
“Ah,” a voice called. “Holding out on us?”
You turned your body quickly, coming face to face with Spencer, who had his hands in his pockets and his shoulder leaned against the balcony threshold. You giggled, “Well, I didn’t really think this was a perfect first-birthday-party activity, y’know?”
“Oh, no, I know,” he nodded, closing the sliding door behind him as he stepped outside. Even under the moonlight, he was utterly beautiful. “Got enough to share?”
You raised your eyebrows at him, “Why, Spencer, I would’ve never taken you for the drinking type.”
“Only on special occasions,” he shrugged, taking the flask you handed him. He swallowed it down, with minimal reaction, and you felt your heartbeat between your legs. The breeze flew under your dress, making you shiver. “You cold?”
“Yeah, damn. It was just 80 degrees out. Now it’s freezing.”
“Here,” he said. “Take my sweater.”
You watched as he stripped the article of clothing from his shoulders, holding eye contact with you until your eyes trailed to his body. Stop that, you told yourself, stop looking at him like that, [y/n]. But you couldn’t. He was irresistible, and he knew it. When he’d completely removed the sweater, he was only left in a white button up, tucked into his belt buckle.
He didn’t even try to hand you the sweater. He dropped it to the ground, along with the flask, as you moved in to kiss him. His arms wrapped around your waist, and your hands held onto his face as you shoved your tongue into his mouth, moaning at the taste of him.
You excitedly began to fidget with his belt buckle, undoing his pants with phenomenal speed. He pushed you back against the wall, and you followed, so ready to go all the way with this man, the wait was unbearable. He kissed your neck as you freed his cock from his briefs, stroking him into a set erection.
Neither of you spoke a word.
He just picked you up, held you against the wall by your thighs, and kissed you as you pulled your dress up. You pulled your panties to the side and allowed him to put himself inside you. He buried his face in your shoulder, with you going cross-eyed from the intense feeling. You just barely remembered to stay quiet, whining into your mouth as he thrusted into you, hard.
You held onto his shirt for dear life, wrapping your legs around his waist and moving your hips against his. “Fuck,” you whispered. He grinned against your skin, using all his strength to pound you into the wall. Slowly, though, as to not alert his friends downstairs.
You reached down and rubbed your clit, your mouth instantly forming an ‘o’ shape and your head rolling back. Combine that with Spencer’s cock striking all the right places, and you were a puddle. Your legs trembled, but he held onto them, his hands big enough to nearly wrap around your entire thigh. The rush started in the pit of your stomach, then it spread through your clit, and then your entire body. And you came, weakly, almost violently against Spencer’s body.
He stopped after that, pulling out of you and placing your feet back on the concrete gently. Despite being in a daze, you grabbed onto his cock and jerked him off quickly, staring at him as you did it.
“[y/n]—“ he moaned. “I’m—I’m—“
He did. He exploded all over you. Your thigh, your dress. All while falling apart into a fit of groans, having to hold himself up on the wall just to keep from crumbling to the ground. You smirked at the sight of him, glad to have gotten him off.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, looking into your eyes. “I’m sorry about your dress.”
You shook your head, “I needed to shower anyway,” you shrugged. “Go on, everyone’s probably wondering where you went.” You smiled.
He kissed you. Once before he fixed his pants. And twice before he actually left the room. He left his sweater. You wore it to bed that night, sipping happily on the forgotten flask.
In the morning, JJ made breakfast. Enough pancakes and eggs to feed you, the baby, and her. You kissed her cheek before taking a seat at the table, tickling Henry and earning a cute, little giggle from him.
“Where’s Will?” You asked.
“Where else? Work. He couldn’t get out of his shift today, but believe me, he tried.”
“Aw, poor, poor William. I hope he atleast had fun yesterday.”
“He did. We were both tired afterwards, but we had a good time. Thank you for being here.”
“Oh, c’mon, JJ, you know I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world. Godmommy duties!”
“And I’m so glad you got to meet Spencer,” she said. You gulped. “I told you if anything ever happens to me and Will—“
“Then, it’s up to Spencer and I to make sure Henry gets into Yale. I remember.” You giggled.
“Exactly. Did you get to talk to him last night?”
You thought for a moment. You could tell her. But the baby was right there. And you clearly remembered her mentioning a date between her and Spencer years ago. Was it a can of worms you should open? You decided it wasn’t.
“Oh, no,” you shook your head. “Not as much as I wanted. I kind of went to bed early.”
“Ah, well, one day, I want you to meet the whole team. I think it’s about time. Don’t you?”
“Absolutely.”
Over a month later, there was no word from Spencer. You thought about him often though. Where was he, what was he doing, was he thinking of you. Sappy shit. Then, you remembered, you knew exactly where he was. And you chose to visit the bullpen for the very first time.
You put on your tightest pair of jeans - the ones that made your butt look perky - and a spaghetti strap blouse that highlighted your chest. JJ told you that you looked beautiful and embraced you in a warm hug.
“This is such a surprise!” She exclaimed. “What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to see you! See where you worked, who you worked with, all that jazz.”
“Oh,” she giggled, rising from her seat. “Then let me give you the grand tour.”
You followed her aimlessly, only partially listening to his guidance, as you were primarily concerned with seeing Spencer. “That’s Derek, Emily, Penelope is in her office, and you remember Spencer.” She said.
Your eyes instantly found Spencer at his desk, the profiler already eyeing you with a knowing smile. You smiled back, “Of course. Hi, everyone.”
“Back there is our break room. Coffee, doughnuts. Want some?” JJ asked.
“Oh, yeah, coffee sounds great.” You nodded.
“I’ll get you some,” Spencer suddenly offered, rising from his seat and heading off before you could object.
“A nice little place you run here, J,” you whispered.
She rolled her eyes, “I don’t run it.”
“Well, you should.”
Spencer strolled up to you, a small styrofoam cup in his hand, and a great smile on his face. “Here you go. I put in cream and sugar. Hope that’s okay.”
“That’s perfect,” you told him. “Thank you.”
“Spence, you remember [y/n] from Henry’s birthday party? She’s his godmother.”
“Ah, so the one that’s going to help Henry get into Yale?” He chuckled.
You shook your head, “Me? No, no. I could barely get into community college. That’s all on you.”
The three of you laughed, and JJ shook her head at you. “Are you free for a quick lunch?” She asked.
“Of course! You ready?”
Your friend nodded and swung her arm over your shoulder as the two of you walked away. Spencer watched you as you stepped onto the elevator, taking a sip of your coffee. Only then, did you notice the slip of paper tucked into the lid. It contained a string of numbers, signed - Spencer :). You looked up at him, just as the elevator doors were closing.
The night, you called him. He came over. You had sex in a bed for the first time. And it was just as good as you remembered it. If not better. His hands pressed into your thighs, your legs bent over your head as he drilled into you, the sweat from his body dripping onto yours. Your tongues tangled with one another’s, your hands gripped at anything they could. It was hot. It was satisfying. You came twice, and Spencer came with his cock in your mouth.
As the two of you laid there afterwards, cuddled up and out of breath, Spencer kissed your forehead. “Missed you.” He said.
You hid your face as you grinned. “Uh, do you want your sweater back?”
“No. You keep it. Think of me when you see it.”
Little did he know that you thought about him all the time.
2 months later, his number was on speed dial in your phone. The job kept him busy most days, but weekends belonged to you. You’d be at his apartment friday to sunday, miss him for a week, and then fall into the same routine. It was bliss.
You’d be laying beside each other, completely fucked out and attempting to calm your breathing. “Do you—“ Spencer huffed. “Do you want kids some day?”
You furrowed your eyebrows together, sat up slowly and looked down at him. “Where the hell did that come from, Spencer?”
He shrugged, “I see how you are with Henry. Why don’t you have any of your own?”
You laughed, “Is that your way of saying you want to impregnate me?”
“Oh, don’t think that I haven’t thought about it,” he whispered, reaching over to hug you. “Go on a date with me, [y/n].”
You watched him say the words out loud, processing what it meant, waiting for your response. “A date?” You replied.
“A real date. Let me pick you at your place, and take you dancing, a movie, dinner, something. No sex involved.”
“No sex involved?”
“I mean,” he smirked. “Unless you want?”
“Hm, no, Spencer Reid, I’m not that kind of girl. You’re gonna have to wait until the fifth date for that.”
You made it to the fourth date before having sex again. But to be fair, those four dates were spectacular. Movies, dancing, dinner, some coffee dates sprinkled in. You were happy. And JJ could tell.
“Tell me who he is, [y/n].” JJ ordered, chuckling as she fixed you a cup of tea.
“Who? I told you, there’s no one. There’s no guy.”
“I call bullshit,” she shook her head. “You have been walking around way too happy and way too cocky to not be having sex with someone.”
“J—“
“And not to mention how many times you’ve blown me off to see him.”
“I did not blow you off.”
“Sorry, J,” she mocked your voice. “‘I’ve got an early day tomorrow.’ You? An early day on a Saturday?”
“I wanted to run some errands!”
She turned to you, “Errands? Now I know you’re seeing someone!”
“You’re crazy, J.”
You hated to lie to JJ. But it wasn’t the right time. Besides, at that point, 6 complete months had passed since Henry’s birthday party and you worried the lapse in time would upset her. There would be a time and place to announce the relationship.
4 months later - when you told JJ you were moving - she asked where to, and you still didn’t say ‘oh, Spencer’s place.’ Instead, you just told her it was close to her work.
Another 2 months passed and Henry was turning two. JJ insisted you come over to help her set up decorations the night before. You stepped on a ladder, hanging up Henry’s name in big, floppy letters.
“Hey, [y/n], did you pick up some wall tacks on your way over? I want to start putting up the other decorations.” JJ said.
“Yeah, they’re in my car. My keys are on the couch.”
JJ nodded, grabbed your keys and stepped out of the house to retrieve the items. You finally put up the letter ‘Y’ and stepped down to admire your handy work. You began to clean up the trash off the floor, packing into a large grocery bag and laying it to the side. You heard the door close, signaling JJ’s return.
“Hey, J,” you said, rummaging through the bag of decor. “Did you find the wall tacks? My car’s a little junky. And if you think that’s bad, you should see my room.” You laughed.
When you didn’t get a response after a few seconds, you turned around to look at JJ. She was standing here, holding a small item in her hand. Her face had lost its color and her breathing was still. She couldn’t - wouldn’t - look you in the eye.
“Why...” she started. “Is Spencer’s badge in your car?”

Butterfly Lies - Four
Tumblr media
chapter four ✭  masterlist ✭ previous ✭ next ✭
mafialeader kun x reader
words: 3.8k
genre: smut, angst, fluff
warnings: smut (degredation, dom!kun, sub! reader); mentions of torture death and violence
money makes people do strange things, is what people would say, it can even motivate them to murder. kun didn’t have people killed for the money, he had them killed for the power, he was a monster among men, is what people would say. in reality kun had only ever been motivated by one thing, his love for you
✭  ✭  ✭  ✭  ✭
When you were actual allowed to start your real job at Qian Industries, it was weirdly fun. You spent all of your mornings with Ten, explaining to him why his ideas were wildly unrealistic and crazy and providing him with more sensible ones.
“Why would the office need to be near an ice cream place, I like ice cream as much as the next person Ten but I just don’t think that is essential,” you explained, “plus that would make the office very close to a G7 territory, they aren’t on the list of enemies and I guess we don’t want to add them to that list, it would probably involve unnecessary death.”
You put a big read x over the address Ten had proposed.
“I question your priorities there but okay…” Ten said. He was questioning your priorities? Maybe Kun had assigned you this job and ordered Ten to annoy you out of the company. Somehow you knew that wasn’t true, Ten was just Ten.
“If you don’t shut your ass up, I’m going to start leaving random fruits on your desk you idiot.” It was the one thing Kun had told you that would give you leverage over Ten – his fear of fruits.
Ten huffed, throwing his pen down at the map dramatically.
“Then where do you suggest?” he asked.
You picked up a black marker and drew a circle round two different locations,
“Both of these work, one is better for efficiency but the other is slightly closer to the NCT office which could be useful for collaboration. It would be better to be further away from them though so that we cover more area combined, but I’m not against that location so you can pick between the two,” you explained.
Ten looked vaguely impressed. He picked up the red marker and drew an X over the closer location.
“We go for efficiency then.”
You held your hand up, giving Ten a high five.
“The best team that V has,” you said. Ten raised an eyebrow.
“WayV, is the name of the gang you know?” he said, “or clearly you don’t know, people just graffiti the V because that’s easier.”
That made more sense, a single letter wasn’t a great name for any brand.
“But yes, we do make a good team,” he relented, “in that you’re smart and I’m stunningly good-looking.”
You let him have that one.
The day didn’t slow down from there, next you were expected to go and learn some skills with Lucas. You were marginally apprehensive about what skills entailed but trusted Kun knew what he was doing.
Lucas was staring out of the office window when you walked in, so he didn’t notice you.
“Hello?” you said, making him aware of your presence.
“Sorry there was a cute puppy on the street,” he said turning around to grin at you. Your first question was how he saw the puppy from the street when you were on the sixteenth floor. Your second question came after his second statement.
“So, have you ever stabbed someone before?” You decided he was dangerously nonchalant in asking you that question.
You stared at him for a second trying to figure out just quite how sarcastically to answer.
“Yeh, I stabbed a guy just last week for jumping the queue, he had a right smirk on his face. No of course I have never stabbed someone you idiot, like most people have never done that, like a high percentage.”
Lucas shrugged.
“Just would have made my job easier if you had but its chill,” he replied.
He then proceeded to hand you a knife and get you to practise stabbing a dummy he had set out, showing you different tactics for self-defence. He also showed you how to disarm and attacker or just fight someone without a weapon.
He wanted to show you how to fire a gun, but you refused to learn, you didn’t think it was necessary. You also didn’t want to contribute to the number of guns in the city or gun violence.
“We can’t go to the hospital, so you have to learn how to deal with stab wounds, how to slow the bleeding and how to do stiches also,’ Lucas explained. You were weirdly excited at the prospect of this.
It was exactly the kind of area you felt you could be additionally useful without having to resort to mindless violence. You would just help with the aftermath of mindless violence instead.
As you stitched the fake arm you struggled to understand how Kun was calm enough to have done this to himself. He was truly his own brand of strangely impressive but also maybe insane.
You had actually planned to meet him later on for dinner. You were slightly stressed about it because you really didn’t want to have to talk about the whole, ‘kiss’ situation, you reckoned it wouldn’t be beneficial for your friendship to linger on the reasons you refused to commit to Kun.
You also knew it wasn’t beneficially for our friendship to ignore him, thus you agreed to go. You thanked Lucas for helping you and walked into the elevator, planning to stop by and ask Kun what kind of restaurant it was so you knew what to wear before you went home.
You arrived outside his office where the door was open, and no one was inside. You didn’t think anything of it, he was probably just busy elsewhere.
At the same time, you got a text from Johnny, one of the guys who worked out in Korea about the office location. You had a bit of free time, so you decided to go look for Ten and tell him what Johnny had said.
You decided to go to random floors and explore a bit. You had only been to a few parts of the building. You looked at the options on the lift and were surprised to find the building had multiple basement levels.
You guessed it might be carpark and thought it would be fun to see what kind of cars they drove to work out if any of Kun’s guys were just as rich as him. You pressed B1 and the lift went down.
It was a carpark, but it was empty, so you decided to go down the steps to the next level.
B2 was decidedly not a basement. The door to it was locked by a pass that said top level security clearance only. You held your pass up and it opened the door, it beeped green and opened. You were surprised Kun had given you that level of access, you had expected the door to not let you in.
There was a big sign inside the basement entrance with another reception desk. Yet this time the reception desk said WayV above it in big letters. Not Kun industries.
You had stumbled across where the real action occurred. You felt a lump rise in your throat, you were terrified yet so intrigued that you couldn’t walk away.
Yangyang was sitting at the desk with his feet up and jumped when he saw you.
“y/n!” he said, “how did you get in here?”
“With my pass,” you said wiggling it, smile on your face, hoping if you faked like you were meant to be there enough, he wouldn’t question it.
“I thought you were working with Lucas and then you were done, what brings you here?” he looked slightly nervous.
“I know what’s happening in there,” you said, hoping that he inferred something from your statement that would stop his questioning.
“Uh, okay then go on ahead,” he said, sitting back down. You felt bad, knowing that he would probably get in trouble again for this, he clearly had been demoted a lot if he was on desk duty.
You pushed open a door on your right and entered a badly lit corridor. There were a few doors, but you heard voices coming from further on down, so you walked towards that. The door was left open slightly and so you stood next to it, you could see but you could here.
You heard someone get hit, groaning in pain, causing you to flinch.
“Tell me where he fucking gave you this letter or I will rip your fingernails out one by one until you change your mind,” you heard Xiaojun’s voice. There was something so terrifying about how such a seemingly nice guy could be here, doing this.
“No fucking time Jun, either he tells us, or we shoot his buddy here,” this time it was Kun’s voice which was so much worse.
“Fuck you!” came an angry reply immediately followed by a gunshot.
“Now your friend is dead, tsk, tsk, tsk,” Kun said his voice unlike anything you had ever heard before.
“And so is your leverage,” the man replied. Kun laughed. He laughed, you were so shocked, his laugh was so like him yet so not.
“You have other friends, other partners, no?” Kun began, “You are not the only two we have or the only two we can get. Lucas here will get your other buddies from next door, one by one. I will shoot them one by one. When we run out, he will capture more, I will kill more. That is unless you fucking tell us, how you got the piece of paper.”
“Just kill me… please,” the man begged.
“But that would be so easy wouldn’t it, where’s your flair for the dramatique? Get the next one in,” Kun said.
You panicked; you knew you should leave before someone saw you, but your legs wouldn’t move.
Lucas opened the door and stepped out, face to face with your tear-filled eyes.
“Shit,” was all he said. He grabbed your arm and pulled you a few steps along so everyone in the room could see.
“We have a visitor,” Lucas said, “Yangyang still can’t do his job it seems.
You saw Kun’s face turn from a sick smile, to something unreadable. You saw the blood spatters on his hands, a dead body being rolled into a tarpaulin on the floor by Hendery and Sicheng and you saw a man tied up in the middle of the room.
The time it took for your brain to recognise the situation was enough time for your brain to finally send signals to your legs.
You dodged round Lucas and ran for the door. You ran back out of the hallway past the desk where Yangyang saw you running and now looked worried and up the stairs. You skipped the lift and continued up the stairs to the main entrance before running out the front door.
You stopped a taxi in the street and asked it to drive you home. Your only real thought was that you didn’t want to think.
You pulled out your phone. You knew Kun wouldn’t try to contact you. He was nice like that, he wouldn’t impose. He also murdered people for information. He was evil like that.
You texted Yuyan.
Need to go clubbing tonight, can you meet me at the snake house at seven?
The snake house was your favourite bar, it was right near a good club and you couldn’t wait until the club opened to drown out your memories with vodka.
You stopped at home briefly to throw on some new makeup and a dress, they wouldn’t let you into the club otherwise before walking to the bar.
Yuyan was waiting outside.
“Not to be mean y/n,” she said, ‘but you look rough, did you fall down the stairs? Your face is a weird colour, are you sick?”
“Not sick, emotionally traumatised, shall we drink,” you said dragging her through the door of the snake house. Yuyan just laughed, she thought you were joking or exaggerating, probably assumed the mental trauma was just an awkward meeting or something similar.
You stood at the bar.
“Can I get a rum and coke?” Yuyan said to the barman, who nodded.
“I’m going to level with you, can you just give me that bottle of tequila and a straw please,” you asked.
“So, a real bad day then?” Yuyan said raising her eyebrows.
“The worst.”
You sipped your tequila with a straw, it wasn’t super pleasant to drink this way, but it did have the effect you had hoped for, it made you drunk very fast.
You had practically passed out in the bar seat by eight-thirty.
“How are we meant to get into the club when you can’t even stand?” Yuyan chastised, pulling the bottle out of your hands.
“If I stop drinking now, I should sober up slightly by ten,” you said and Yuyan couldn’t argue with that.
By ten you were in fact able to stand and just about managed to get into the club, the bouncer did give you a look but Yuyan was looking pretty so he let you in anyway. A fucked-up system but it worked in your favour.
Inside the club you were still drunk, but slightly more in control, you found a random guy on the dancefloor and started making out with him. Trying to push the resurfacing memories of Kun out of your mind.
It didn’t really work. You were sobering up by the minute and so left the random guy you had found to go back over to the bar. You downed three shots and could almost hear your liver complaining before getting back to the dancefloor.
It still didn’t help but your drunk confidence was back, you found Yuyan again and explained your alcohol fuelled plan.
“I’m going to call him, I’m going to tell him to stop being bad, how dare he be like this, he is meant to be a good guy.”
You had never told Yuyan about Kun, so she had no idea what you were talking about,
“Are you sure this is a good idea, drunk calling a guy rarely is,” she advised, “but that clearly won’t stop you,” she said laughing as you walked towards the door. It was fine to leave her because a few of your other friends had shown up by this point.
You rang Kun, standing inside by the entrance to the club.
“I need to talk to youuuu!” you shouted down the phone when he answered, “I need to talk to bad Kun because he’s making my heart sad.”
Kun sighed down the end of the phone.
“Where are you at, I will come pick you up,” he said.
“The club next to snake house,” you said, hanging up the phone and wandering outside. There were still people queuing to get in on the street. It was only just before midnight. The cold air sobered you up slightly and you were already regretting your phone call decision.
Minutes later, Kun’s SUV pulled up and he opened the door from the inside so you could get in. You pulled your heels off and climbed into the front seat.
“I hate you sometimes Kun,” you said.
“I’m sorry,” he replied. Like ever he really did sound sorry. You didn’t know what to say now he was here.
“I wish I had no feelings for you at all,” you iterated, “it would make things so much easier.”
Kun’s apartment wasn’t far from the bar. He stopped the car and got out, you followed silently until you reached the inside. Kun shut his door behind you both carefully.
“Do you want me to explain?” Kun asked, his face looked so sad, you knew how much your words hurt him, but you also knew how important is was to tell him the truth.
“Let’s have sex,” you said to which Kun almost fell over.
“Your drunk and well, given the situation I don’t think that is the best choice, we need to talk about this.”
“I’m not that drunk anymore.” You replied, “and talking hasn’t gotten us anywhere.”
“Are we gonna fuck because you love me or because you hate me?” he asked.
“Does it matter?” you countered. Kun answered by bringing his lips to yours, pushing you up against his wall, biting your lip softly as your hands gripped his hair.
“We’re only in this situation because you’re a bad girl who can’t do what she’s told,” he whispered in your ear, undoing the buttons of his shirt, “I gave you a job, I take you to dinner, I do everything for you and yet you still can’t behave for me.”
His words were turning you on, so you tried to kiss him again, but he pushed you back against the wall.
“Not yet baby, bad girls have to wait,” he said, still unbuttoning his shirt, painfully slowly before throwing it on the floor. Your eyes blazed at the sight of his chest, Kun really was the perfect man, excluding his violent activities.
Kun stepped forward again until your bodies were millimetres apart. He pushed your dress up slightly, his hand pressing against your bum, pulling you towards him across the final short distance.
He stared down into your eyes, you had no way of discerning what his thoughts were, his face was blank.
“Are you sure this is what you want? Will you be a good girl for me?” he asked, his hand playing with the zip of your dress, teasing you with the opportunity to back out, knowing that you wouldn’t.
You nodded. He immediately pulled the zip down, your dress falling to the floor moments later. You hadn’t worn a bra, but you were too tipsy to be self-conscious. You wouldn’t have needed to be anyway.
“You are so beautiful,” Kun said, his normal softness fleeting over his face for a second before it was gone again. He brought his lips back to yours, kissing you more aggressively this time, his fingertips brushing over your nipple lightly in comparison.
His fingertips traced down your stomach lightly, stopping just above the waistband of your panties.
“Cute,” he said, referencing your underwear with pink bunnies on, you hadn’t prepared for the current situation. You made a face at him, but he just chuckled, “I mean it, you’re cute,” he said, before pulling them down your legs.
The dichotomy was almost too much for you to handle. His hand brushed between your legs,
“I knew you could never resist me, I’m too handsome,” he said, licking the glistening moisture off of his fingers.
Your legs weakened even with that small touch, a problem that worsened when Kun began to rub gentle circles into your clit. You groaned slightly, desperate for more, but Kun was unwilling to give it to you yet.
“Such a slut, don’t think I didn’t notice that your lipstick was smudged when you got into the car.” He said, finally pushing two fingers inside of you as he trailed kissed down your neck, your arms wrapped around him.
“But now you’re my slut,” he said, his fingers moving at a painfully slow speed.
“Faster,” you begged, your breath raspy. Kun ignored you, continuing to do things his way, clearly enjoying it from the grin on his face.
You thought about ways to get what you want, and it didn’t take you long. You had never guessed Kun would be so into sex like this, but now you did you could use it against him.
“Please,” you said, “I’ll do anything you want; I’ll be a good girl.” Kun raised his eyebrows slightly before grinning again.
“As tempting as that is, you will do what I want anyway like a good little slut.”
Well your plan failed but when he added another finger you forgot all about that. You started to whine slightly, feeling your orgasm rise within you but just before you could cum, Kun moved his hand away, leaving you empty.
Kun walked away to sit on the sofa, his eyes still locked on yours. You could see the growing bulge in his sweats. The thought of sucking him off almost turned you on enough to dissipate your annoyance at his previous actions.
You followed him over and knelt down on the floor between his legs, undoing his jeans and pulling his waistband down, letting his cock spring free. It was thicker than you had anticipated as you wrapped your hand around the tip, moving your hand down slowly.
At first you planned to give him the same treatment he gave you but when you began to suck, Kun’s hands tangled in your hair, pushing your head down faster and deeper, you could feel his cock hitting the back of your throat, causing Kun to moan.
“Look at me,” Kun said, your eyes moving to stare up at him, as he continued to fuck your face on his cock. The look of pleasure on his face making you wet all over again.
Staring into your eyes as you sucked his dick was clearly too much for Kun as he came in your mouth seconds later, grinning when you swallowed it all.
“Fuck you’re brilliant,” he said, “the best whore for me.”
“Please Kun, will you fuck me now, I’m being a good slut, just for you,” you said, still staring up at him, feeling his dick harden beneath your fingers at your words.
He nodded, you climbed onto the sofa, kissing him softly before getting onto your hands and knees.
“Look at you just ready to be fucked, you really are a fucking whore for me,” Kun said, slapping your ass, the sting only making you more desperate to feel him inside of you.
“Are you taking the pill?” Kun asked, you nodded.
That was the final thing he needed to hear. He slammed his dick into you, setting a merciless pace from the start, his cock filling you up entirely.
Kun spanked you again before he placed his hand over your mouth as you screamed out in pleasure.
“Jesus the neighbours will all know whose dick gets you wet at that volume,” he said. You moaned into his hand as he continued to fuck you, his own low groans only adding to your pleasure.
You could feel his dick beginning to throb inside of you.
“Fuck you’re going to take my load like the dirty whore you are,” Kun said, removing his hand from your mouth, instead pulling your hair as his dick slammed deeper into you.
“Yes,” you whined,
“I want to hear you say it,” Kun demanded.
“I’m a dirty whore who is going to be filled up with your cum,” you whined, feeling your walls contracting around his pulsing dick.
He final came inside of you, the feeling of his cum filling you up as he fucked it deeper into you causing your own high as you called out his name.
Kun pulled out and sat down onto the sofa, pulling you down next to him.
“Can we just sit here for a second?” he asked, his normal kind tone returning. You kissed his lips softly.
“I don’t see why not.”

Naturalistic Observation
Prompt: maddie and jack learn a bit more about ghosts, but not through scientific study Prompt by: @imperfection-at-itsfinest Word count: 3,904

---
The dashboard of the Ghost Assault Vehicle beeped, and Maddie’s fingers tightened around the wheel. Jack leaned over to watch the screen.
“Looks like a group of ghosts,” he reported. “All medium to high level.”
“Guess that our shopping trip is coming to an early stop.” Maddie darted a look at the screen, then turned them in that direction.
Jack kept his eye on the screen, trusting Maddie to bring them to their destination safely. “Looks like they’re stationary, at least at the moment. Not far.”
“I don’t see them. Must be in that fenced in area.” Maddie’s gaze remained steady forward. “Odd. They must be low to the ground.”
They stopped, and Jack immediately swung open the door. Before he could even exit, though, he heard the clear voice of another human.
“Alright folks, here’s how this is gonna work!” the Red Huntress shouted, and a hush fell. Jack hadn’t even realized noise was happening prior to her yell.
He shared a look with Maddie, and they both jumped out of the GAV. Meanwhile, the Huntress kept talking.
“I’m gonna go over the rules in a minute, but, first of all, there’s the matter of teams.”
‘teams?’ Jack mouthed at Maddie, and she shrugged back. They crept closer to the fence, peeking over it.
Inside the fence was a flat area of dirt, a line drawn to separate it in two halves. On one side of the line, a large group of humans stood. Mostly teenagers, it appeared, but some adults were included as well. They were all dressed somewhat sporty.
Just next to the line, in the center of the field, stood the Red Huntress. Next to her, on the other side, stood Phantom.
And there, on the same side as the ghost, were the other three ghosts the GAV had detected.
“So, it’s very easy!” The Red Huntress swept out her arms. “If you’re a ghost, you’re on Team Ghost, on this side of the line.” She gestured at Phantom, who waved at the crowd. “If you’re alive and not a ghost, you’re on Team Human.” The Huntress gestured at the other group. “Don’t worry about the fact that there are way more of us humans than ghosts, or the fact that ghosts have powers, we’ll get to the rules in a minute.”
She bent down, picking up a ball that laid at her feet. “We’re gonna be playing dodgeball! The team that runs out of players first loses. The price is bragging rights.”
“I don’t recognize all those ghosts,” Maddie whispered to him. “But the big wolf in the back, it attacked us during that first ghost invasion. And Phantom has a little look-alike, too. I don’t trust this.”
“Let’s keep an eye on them,” Jack agreed, peeking over the fence again.
The Red Huntress bounced the ball on the ground. “So, rules. We’re gonna play a pretty basic game of dodgeball. If you get hit, you’re out, and you join the row on the side. If you catch a ball, the first in the queue gets back in. Now, that’s all the rules us humans have to worry about. Phantom?”
“Yes. Besides the fact that we kept the teams uneven, we’re also limiting the use of powers for us ghosts.” Phantom grinned at his captivated audience. “We’re gonna restrain ourselves, strength-wise, to make sure no one gets seriously hurt. In return, we do ask that you guys try to keep it reasonable, too. We want the dodgeballs to stay in the court, if possible. The spares are here for back-up, we’re hoping not to use them.”
“As for actual powers, we’re limiting the ghosts to just two of them.” The Red Huntress shook her head at Phantom. “Ghosts are allowed to go intangible, and they’re allowed to form shields, if they can. Because they are built to be anti-gravity, we’re also allowing them brief moments of floating, but no outright flight. Stay in touch with the ground as much as possible.”
Phantom nodded. “Now, as for introductions. You probably all know me. I’m Phantom, et cetera, et cetera. Here are my teammates for the day!”
He stepped to the side, gesturing at the first ghost behind him. She looked like… well, like a smaller female version of Phantom. Her jumpsuit was a little different, but still alternated between black and white, and she even had the same logo on her chest!
“This is Dani,” Phantom introduced, and the female ghost waved. “Yes, she’s my family. No, she doesn’t come to Amity very often. Yes, I’m expecting you all to play nice.”
Dani laughed, then stepped aside so Phantom could move over to the next ghost. This one was also a teenager, although a male. The entire ghost was monochrome, colored in varying shades of gray. He also appeared to be shy, flinching when everyone’s attention moved to him.
“This is Sidney Poindexter, and please, guys, call him Sidney.” Phantom patted the ghost on his shoulder. “All of you Casper High students might’ve heard of him before. Yes, the rumors are true! Now, as for our last member…”
Phantom clapped Sidney on the shoulder before moving on to the last ghost. The one Jack and Maddie both recognized, the wolf that had attacked them during the invasion.
“This is Wulf!” Phantom cheerily declared. The ghost was almost twice as tall as Phantom, broad, and with massive paw-like hands. It was also covered entirely in pitch black fur, its tail swishing eagerly. To its credit, though, the bipedal wolf did wear a bright green hoodie and tattered pants. “He might look a little scary, but no worries, he’s a big softie!”
The Red Huntress stared straight at Phantom, and Jack could guess at the look she was giving him underneath that helmet. “…Right. Anyway, those are your targets, people. You know the rules, you know the price. Any more questions?”
Phantom floated back over to her, landing soundlessly. “Not a question, but I wanted to thank everyone for coming here. Let’s all have some fun, shall we?”
The crowd—both humans and ghosts—cheered, and the Huntress shook her head almost exasperatedly. She offered her hand to Phantom, who quickly shook it.
“May the best team win,” he declared, a wide grin on his face.
“Don’t embarrass yourself,” she told him.
They separated, Phantom backing up into his half of the field. The Red Huntress placed the ball she held back onto the line, then gestured at some of the teens on the side. Two more balls were rolled over to her, and joined the first on the line. With that done she, too, got up to join her respective team.
“Ready?” she asked, voice loud and clear. “On three! One… Two…”
“Three!” she and Phantom shouted simultaneously, and the game burst to life.
Of the ghosts, only the female Phantom—Dani—shot forward to claim a ball. She lunged, faster than the humans on the other side of the line, and threw it the moment her fingers made contact. A girl on the human team yelled, then drooped off to the side.
In the wake, though, two human teenagers grabbed the other ones. The blonde nodded at his equally broad friend, and then wound back, throwing their dodgeballs at the same time.
Phantom rolled his eyes, the two balls phasing through him. Behind him, Dani and Sidney grabbed the missed dodgeballs off of floor.
The game continued like that for a little longer, neither side getting far ahead. The ghosts knocked out a few of the human players, but there were always enough players left to catch the balls and reclaim their victims. The ghosts, on the other hand, were almost impossible to hit. Between intangibility and the occasional shield from Phantom, only one got knocked out: the biggest target of them all, Wulf.
Who was then promptly brought back in by Dani, who lunged sideways to catch a ball that would’ve flown out of the fence otherwise.
To his surprise, Jack found that it was actually pretty interesting to watch. The ghosts all seemed content to play the game, all following the rules set up beforehand. Not much teamwork, though, unless they counted the fact that Phantom spoke for them all beforehand.
“It really is quite novel,” Maddie said, eyes on the game. “I wonder how they came to the agreement to play this game? It seems organized.”
Jack hummed, watching as Phantom formed another shield. One of the incoming dodgeballs hit it, bouncing back towards the humans side.
A second dodgeball bounced off, this one to the side, and Phantom… paused? The ghost seemed to still, slightly, before turning to look at Jack and Maddie.
Directly at Jack and Maddie.
His luminescent green eyes seemed even brighter through the shield. The ghost’s face split into a challenging grin. “If you’re enjoying it so much, why don’t you two join?”
The shield dropped, and Phantom caught the third dodgeball easily.
“Time out!” he shouted, holding up the ball. “Let’s give the human team a chance to switch up their players. Red, can we talk?”
The Red Huntress held up a hand, and the game came to a complete halt. “Sure thing, Phantom. People, anyone who wants in, or out, now’s your chance!”
A murmur started in the crowd as they dispersed, some of the kids leaving entirely. Their absence was immediately filled, however, by other people. Apparently the game had drawn more watchers than just Jack and Maddie.
He turned to shoot his wife a hopeful look.
“I don’t know, Jack.” She sighed, crossing her arms. “We’re not exactly the type for these kind of games.”
“It would give us a good opportunity to watch from even closer, though,” he pointed out. “And the Red Huntress is playing, too. Team human, led by ghost hunters?”
Maddie made a thoughtful noise. “I suppose it would put us right at the front line, should something go wrong…”
“And it would allow us to see what these ghosts will act like in a combat situation.” The more he thought about it, the more exciting it was to Jack. “All the knowledge, with far less risk!”
“Well…” she said, and Jack knew that he’d convinced her. “I guess you’re right, honey. Let’s show these ghosts why they shouldn’t mess with humans.”
Jack grinned at her, and they entered the fenced in courtyard. The Red Huntress nodded at Phantom, and the two of them moved back into the center.
“Alright, everyone in who wants to be in?” the Huntress asked, her voice raised. “I see we’ve got a few more members on Team Human, including the Fentons. Last chance, people!”
No one moved, and the Huntress nodded. “Alright. Phantom and I had a quick discussion, and we’re tweaking the rules a little. Team Human gets more players, and Team Ghost gets more powers. Because, admittedly, the last rules made it so that not all ghosts could participate equally. So, here’s how we’re going to do it now!”
The Red Huntress turned her head towards the humans, but gestured at the ghosts. “The ghosts can now use any of their powers except invisibility and flight. They are still allowed to briefly hover, if they can’t stop themselves. They are not allowed to target the human players with anything except dodgeballs. Phantom, give us some examples of the adjusted rules?”
“Sure thing, Red.” Phantom stepped closer to the line, nodding at the humans. “Ecto-blasts of any kind are a no-go, because they are a purely offensive ability. This rule, of course, extends to all purely offensive abilities, as well as superhuman strength. If we can find a way to use powers to defend ourselves, or to make it easier for us to dodge, that’s allowed. Duplicates, for example, are fine. It’s really dependent on the ghost, so we’ll have to play it by ear. If something seems too much, Red can call it out.”
“Let’s all play a fair and honest game of dodgeball, though, folks!” The Red Huntress turned to look at both teams. “Yeah? Alright. Let’s get the balls ready, and we’ll go on three again.”
Jack sidled up next to Maddie, right in the middle of the human front line. The two teens from the first game were on either side of them, bouncing with anticipation.
“Ready?” the Red Huntress called, backing up until she was right in front of Jack and Maddie. “One… Two…”
“Three!” she and Phantom shouted, and the game was off once more.
Much like last game, the two human teens raced forward to grab dodgeballs, as did Dani. The ghost was, once again, faster than the humans, but instead of throwing the ball, she jumped backwards with it.
The kids grabbed the remaining dodgeballs, winding back to throw them at Dani.
A green wall formed around the female ghost, though, Phantom standing right behind her. Both dodgeballs bounced off to the sides, where Sidney and Wulf grabbed them.
“Gotcha,” Phantom declared, as his three teammates wound back with the dodgeballs. And threw them!
Two of the dodgeballs veered off to the sides, but one came pelting right for Jack. He startled, raising his hands.
Maddie jumped in front of him, catching the ball. After a brief moment of hesitation, she wound back and chucked it at Phantom.
The ghost laughed as the ball passed through him, Dani picking it up afterwards. “Good try!”
After that, the pace picked up again. The three dodgeballs sailed through the air, neither side getting an advantage over the other.
One of them hit Jack, and he was forced to move aside. This did allow him to watch the game more carefully, though.
Phantom was definitely the most powerful, and the most versatile, among the ghosts. Wulf was by far the biggest, but made up for it by also being their best catcher. Sidney had opened up in the heat of the game, seemingly determined to prove himself, and controlled a stack of school supplies that had been laid to the side, possibly for this purpose. The ghost used telekinesis to drag books over to himself, using them as makeshift shields.
Dani, unlike the rest, seemed to have no special powers. Unlike Phantom, who she looked so much like, she didn’t seem to possess shields. Didn’t use them, at least. She was fast, though, and far more energetic than the rest.
Jack shuffled up the line as his team caught dodgeballs, until he was all the way at the front. From there, he could see that Phantom was behaving oddly.
The ghost had fallen back, relying on his three teammates to continue the game. His eyes, previously vibrant ecto-green, seemed to have changed colors to a cooler green. His glow was still bright, seemed even brighter, but had an almost blue tint to it.
“Ready, guys?” the ghost asked. Jack wondered who he was asking, but then the three other ghosts nodded.
They all jumped, simultaneously, and Phantom threw his hands out wide. The ghost’s eyes had gone icy blue, matching the rays he was sending out from his hands, which were aimed at the ground. He moved quickly and constantly, until the beams had swept over the ghost’s half of the field.
When the other three landed, Phantom was panting, but he had a wide grin on his face.
He had frozen their side of the field.
Jack hadn’t even known Phantom had ice powers, never mind that they were that strong. The decision to freeze the field was odd, though. He could understand it if it were on the human’s side, to handicap them, but that wasn’t allowed anyway.
One of the dodgeballs went flying towards Dani, but the ghost quickly darted aside. Hell, she didn’t even jump, she slid. Over Phantom’s ice.
That was… actually very clever. Phantom had given his team an ice rink, allowing them to move more swiftly. And, with the natural inborn balance of a ghost, they were much less likely to slip.
Maddie caught the dodgeball on its return, and Jack quickly returned to her side.
“Missed me?” he asked, playfully. She grinned back.
The pace of the game picked up even further, now. The ice had sped up Team Ghost considerably, and they were knocking more and more humans out of the game.
Dani had started throwing her balls from low, lunging into a slide before actually throwing, which made the dodgeballs come from unexpected directions. Sidney seemed to have picked up on this, and managed to throw a ball from high at the same time on occasion.
Jack caught a dodgeball thrown by Phantom, then grinned back at the ghost. He could return the throw, but Phantom would be expecting that.
Winding back his arm, Jack pretended to be aiming for Phantom. Then, at the last moment, he threw the ball at Wulf instead.
The ghost wagged his tail, shooting Jack a wide toothy snarl. Or, smile, maybe? The ball flew straight at him, with such speed that Wulf couldn’t possible dodge.
Had Wulf’s claws always been that long?
A cold wind picked up as Wulf swept both hands down, claws tearing through— through reality, revealing two slits of bright swirling green. Ghost Zone.
The dodgeball Jack had thrown flew right through the one in front of Wulf, then exited through the other portal. Immediately afterwards, the tears closed themselves again.
Briefly, Jack wondered if he’d just imagined it, but Maddie made a startled noise next to him.
“Phantom!” Red Huntress barked, over the din of the game. “No Portals to the Ghost Zone! We want to keep the balls in the courtyard, please!”
Wulf shook his head, barking something back at Phantom. It wasn’t English, though. Ghost speak?
“It’s still in the court,” Phantom countered, picking up the dodgeball. “He opened a return portal back to the human world. Sorry, Wulf, you’ll have to work around it.”
The other ghost scoffed, then nodded. The game picked up again.
Jack tried to keep an observational eye on the ghosts, but it was… hard. The game was exciting and fun, and he kept getting swept up in the fervor of it! And it seemed that Maddie was no better off than him.
Their team had steadily decreased, leaving them with barely a quarter of the players standing, when both Phantom and Dani came to a sudden stop. Blue mist emitted from their mouths, and they shared a startled look.
“Time out!” the Red Huntress shouted, and all other players stopped, too. “Phantom, Dani?”
“Ghost sense,” Phantom managed to explain. He opened his mouth to say more, but was interrupted by the noise of what sounded like jet engines.
The ghost that appeared over the fence was humanoid, but robotic. Made entirely out of metal plates haphazardly welded together. Plane-like wings jutted out from its sides, green ectoplasm flaring up from its head like a mohawk.
“Whelp!” it sneered at Phantom, ignoring everyone else present. “Finally, I have cornered you, my prey! Now— Ah!”
A dodgeball bounced off of its chest. The ghost turned its violently green eyes on the human team, snarling. “Who did that?!”
Two more dodgeballs went flying, hitting the ghost in its wings. Its flight faltered, and it crashed down in front of the fence.
“Brats!” it snapped at them, kneeling on the half-frozen dirt. “I will—”
More dodgeballs pelted it. The Casper High kids that had formed Team Human were all reaching behind them, grabbing spare dodgeballs—and any of the dodgeballs that bounced back.
Phantom ran towards the ghost, his aura once again going blue. He raised a hand, and froze the opposing ghost solid.
He then paused, making a face at the Red Huntress, who had also stepped forward. “I don’t have anything to capture him.”
“You’re a moron.” She scoffed. “Why not?”
“Was afraid it would get damaged during the game.” Phantom shrugging, then shot another beam of ice at the attacking ghost. “Can I borrow something?”
“I don’t have anything that isn’t part of the suit,” the Huntress admitted.
Jack threw Maddie a look, then turned towards the GAV, then back to her.
“I don’t know, Jack.” Maddie turned to look at the ghost, which Phantom was occasionally re-freezing when it cracked the ice.
“All four of them played a perfectly fair game of dodgeball,” he pointed out. “The one dubious case, Phantom immediately interfered.”
She made a face. “That could’ve been for any reason, honey.”
“Someone has to make the first step here.” He gestured at the three ghosts on Phantom’s team. All three now stood waiting, looking coiled and ready for action.
Well, Sidney looked a little hesitant. Not much of a fighter, it seemed.
“Jack…”
“Give him the chance to prove himself.” Jack nodded at Phantom and the Red Huntress, still standing side-by-side. “She changed her mind about him, too. Maybe there’s a good reason for that.”
Maddie sighed, but nodded. “Fine. But we’re keeping a close eye on him.”
“Of course we will!” He bounced forward, towards Phantom and the Huntress. “We have a Thermos you can borrow, Phantom, in the GAV.”
The ghost jerked towards him, clearly startled. “Oh. Uh. Yes, that would be… nice. Thank you.”
“Here it is.” Maddie came up next to Jack, holding out the Thermos towards Phantom. “We want it back at the nearest convenience, though, Phantom.”
“Gotcha.” He took the Thermos from her hand, nodding at both of them. “I promise, and… Thank you, really.”
He then turned around, walking towards the metal ghost. It was swiftly captured, and Phantom capped the Thermos again.
“Alright folks!” he shouted, the murmur of the humans quietening again. “Looks like we’ll have to end the game here! Thank you, everyone, for playing, and I’m sorry for the abrupt end!”
He grinned, cockily. “We were so close to beating you guys, too!”
As expected, the crowd went wild, shouting back.
“Yeah, yeah. We’ll just have to schedule another game for a rematch, won’t we, Red?” He leaned up against the Red Huntress, who shoved him away again. “Anyway, I’ll go dump Skulker somewhere far away from us.”
He jumped up, floating above the courtyard, and waved. “Cheers, folks, and stay safe!”
Phantom was off like a shot. The other three ghosts rose up in the air as well, following after him.
And then suddenly it was just the humans left. Even the Red Huntress walked off.
Jack blinked. Then realized…
“How long did we just spent around those ghosts?” Maddie asked him, sharply. “And we didn’t catch a single one, Jack.”
“And learned nothing?” he asked, shaking his head. “Nonsense, Maddie! Their teamwork, the creative application of their powers. Reacting to the changes in their environment? Learning from their actions?”
“I…” She frowned, considering this. “Yes, they… they did, didn’t they?”
“And they were so competitive!” he tacked on, grinning. “Such excitement over the game! Even that shy one, Sidney, seemed to open up.”
“Oh, well, I suppose.” She clicked her tongue, but looked far less downtrodden. “You are far more observant than people think, honey.”
He laughed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “And you are much more vicious than people think.”
“Someone has to look out for us humans,” she joked back, as they walked towards the GAV. “I suppose we have a lot of data to process, now.”
“We learned so much!” he agreed. “And without doing any scientific study, too!”

How To Choose the Best Images for Your Brand
Thanks to the ubiquity of social media these days, we are more exposed to photos, images, memes and illustrations than ever before. It’s not just social media, there are a multitude of websites, games, billboards, adverts, not to mention the apps we now rely on, all fighting for space in front of our eyeballs.
It’s one thing to be showing off your new puppy or latest culinary masterpiece to family and friends, but when so much of what you put on online is there to represent your business and your brand, the choice of imagery becomes very important indeed. With that in mind, we thought we’d share our experience about what you look for when it comes to brand imagery, how it separates itself, how to choose images and more importantly, how they reflect on your business in this rapidly moving electronic age. Let’s start with the most basic question.
What Is Brand Imagery?
Brand imagery can incorporate almost anything, e.g. the images, colours, fonts, photos and general aesthetic that illustrates your brand’s core message.
Brand imagery isn’t necessarily limited to things you can see, it can also incorporate what you can smell, touch, taste or hear. For example, the taste of McDonald’s Big Mac, the smell of your favourite Chanel perfume or sound of an Apple computer turning on. All of these examples, and more, will illicit an emotional response in you, hopefully good, but not always!
The purpose of brand imagery is to connect the message you’re projecting with your target audience / customers. When they see (or hear, taste, etc), something you’ve produced they need to associated that ‘thing’ with your brand. Of course, it’s not alway possible to smell, hear or taste these things all the time (not least when we’re in the middle of a global pandemic), so the one thing we’re often left with, is the visuals. When it comes to brand imagery, sight is the most valuable of the senses. That’s why imagery is so crucial!
Your brand ‘image’ (as opposed to imagery) on the other hand is, at least in marketing and advertising terms, is the most important aspect. This is less about the nuts and bolts of your brand, and more about communicating your brand values and allowing it to grow organically over time and not wholly within your control. Your brand image also includes how you are perceived by the outside world and your reputation within it.
Whilst the branding imagery that any company exudes, like the logo, the tagline or their website are vital, and these do need to be consistent to promote feelings in the brand, it’s only when that happens and you really resonate with customers, that the buying decisions are made in their minds.
HOW DO YOU CREATE THE BEST BRAND IMAGERY?
OK, here we go! The big question. The first thing we do with new clients is ask them about their ‘perfect customer’, so let’s do the same exercise with you.
Who is YOUR perfect customer? We’re looking here for thinking in the abstract rather than specific details; ask yourself how old are they (as a range)? what’s important to them? what’s their gender? how much do they earn? what does their day look like? what do they do on weekends? You can ask all sorts of questions, but the answers will hopefully help you understand WHO this person is.
By being able to visualise them, you will be in a better position to understand the kind of imagery they’ll respond to. Think about the brands YOU connect too? What is it about them that you like and what gave you that connection?
Chances are you aren’t the only company doing what you do, so it’s also a good idea to look at the kind of imagery your competitors are putting out there. Not least so you can set about making yourself stand out from them or the marketplace as a whole. It’s this divergence of thought that will help you here. Let’s look at a real world example.
If you think about any of the larger corporations out there, if you can break down what they sell, it might sound like they sell the same thing, but it will be the imagery that differentiates them from each other. Let’s think about electronics, as an example. Apple and Acer both sell computers, so they’re the same right? They’re going for the same market? Is the perfect Apple customer the same as the perfect Acer customer? Spoiler Alert - They’re not.
Remember, this isn’t a critique on the customer, but we’re focussed on the brand imagery. Apple’s imagery is designed to be sophisticated, technologically cutting edge and stylish. They want to appeal to a customer who is fashion-conscious, tech-savvy, ‘hip’ and financially comfortable, or at least, that should be how their customer seems themselves. Their products are at the higher end of what’s available, because they want customers who fit their mould. Could they make a £200 laptop if they wanted? I’m sure they could, but they don’t; they’re a premium brand and the imagery they use always projects that. Their products stand out from the crowd and customers who buy them want to be seen with them, they want the glowing Apple logo on their laptop lid, the white stem coming out of their ears and the mountain of apps for their iPhone. Apple give their customers an identity and many of them have grown very passionate about the brand. They cultivate the emotions that using an Apple product makes you feel, it’s about a lifestyle, innovation, passion, dreams and aspirations. For all of those things it achieves, their imagery is clean, simple and effective.
Acer, on the other hand, looks to another market. They might both make laptops, but they aren’t looking to attract the same consumer, and that’s ok. Acer products tend to be much cheaper PCs, the specifications won’t be pushing any technological barriers, but that’s not to say they’re not good ones. Are they as innovative? No. Exciting? No. Could you pop along to an Acer store and speak to an advisor? No. Would you queue overnight for the latest Acer product? No. Will it cost you an arm and a leg to buy one? No! Which is good!
Acer do have a global audience, but you could argue those that buy an Acer laptop did so based on a different criteria. They’re not looking to spend a fortune for the latest and greatest, they just want a basic machine to get their job done. It probably doesn’t matter to those customers that it’s an Acer brand, it could be Asus, Dell or any number of other manufacturers. They do tend to target younger consumers and younger professionals, so their brand imagery tends to connect to things that young pros like. For example, they’ve recently partnered with Alfa Romeo F1 team to further push their brand forward.
Whether it’s Apple or Acer, BMW or Hyundai, Chanel or Tweed, companies appeal to their target market through one simple facet; design.
When you’re thinking about your imagery, play very close attention to things like colour, content, style, typography (i.e. the fonts you use) and composition because they should all be working together in harmony to project the right message to your target customer. Simple concepts like dark colours and heavy, thick fonts tend project an air of seriousness, whereas paler, more neutral palates feel more contemporary. It’s whatever suits your brand and what you are trying to portray.
Now you know who your audience is, you can begin to craft design elements that will appeal to them, but remember these are still people with their own personality. Not everyone in your target demographic is going to agree on the same thing, so come up with a few different designs and test them out with employees, friends and existing customers. The more people who see it, the more information you can glean from them. Test them out on social media and see which creates the most engagement, then you’ll have a barometer to work from.
When you find the design that works and you’re happy with, stick with it. Whilst they don’t all have to look exactly the same (which will soon get stale), there should be some synergy between them; either through the typography, colour palette or the style you use.
Remember also that we’re living in a scrolling world. On social media especially, people increasingly scroll through their timelines on mobile devices, so you want your imagery to be one that makes them stop and look, so it has to stand out to make an impact.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST IMAGERY
Wow, that’s a lot of words to get to the question you probably want answering the most, but we hope they put it all In context for you. Whilst we obviously can’t give you a clear cut answer for your business, not least because we have no idea what it is, there are three basic elements you should consider when choosing the best imagery for your own brand. It doesn’t have to based on photography either; many successful brands use illustrations, just text or a combination.
Before you embark on your journey towards brand imagery domination, it’s vitally important you take stock of what it is you’re trying to achieve by the images you use. Once you find an image you like, but before you use it, ask yourself (and your marketing team if you have one) what objectives are you outlining with your choice? What messages does it express or what values does it send out? Are they the same ones that you’re hoping for? Will it connect with your target market? What is the purpose behind the visual? Answer these kind of questions FIRST, before moving on to…..
COLOUR
When it comes to brand imagery, colour is the top of the food chain. Colour is probably the most memorable aspect when it comes to the visual components. People may forget your words or website address, but they will remember the colours you used. Colours will help to evoke those emotional feelings in consumers, this is known as colour theory. In fact, some studies have shown that colour increases brand recognition by up to 80%, so picking the right colour is key.
When it comes to design and colour theory (which is a whole other topic we’ll cover in another post), it basically boils down to the emotional nuances you get from 12 different colours; including those classed as primary or basic colours (red, blue & yellow), secondary (mix two primary colours equally), tertiary (mixing one primary and one secondary colour together equally) and, whilst not generally included on any colour wheel; the neutral colours like black, white and grey. It’s not just a random assortment. Notice that the secondary colours sit exactly centred between the primary colours, and the tertiary colours each sit between a primary and secondary colour.
There’s also colour psychology, which studies how colours impact on our mood and behaviours. It works like this; Eye sees colour - brain signals endocrine system - endocrine system releases hormones - hormones impacts mood - mood affects behaviour. Again, in simple terms, colours are signified like this:
Red gives off confidence, youth, and power.
Orange evokes friendly, warm, and energetic.
Yellow projects happiness, optimism, and warmth.
Green instills peace, growth, and health.
Blue shows trust, security, and stability.
Purple equates to luxury, creativity and wisdom.
Black is the epitome of reliability, sophistication, and experience.
White symbolises simple, calm, and clean.
It also has an impact on the vibrancy, or how light or dark that colour is. Whilst each of the main colours has its own properties, so does the shade / vibrancy of that colour. In other words, whilst red and blue will obviously illicit different emotional responses, so too will light blue and dark blue (and everything in-between). Simply put, brighter shades tend to project more energy, whilst darker shades are more relaxing. So, of you have a spa or beauticians then you’re unlikely to project the right image with bright red imagery. The possibilities when it comes to colour are almost endless!
SHAPE
Shapes are often underestimated when it comes to imagery. Geometric shapes have the luxury of not being constrained by language, culture or race, so they are universally recognisable. This means they are very popular with businesses that work internationally. By combining shapes with the right colour and / or typography you can easily increase how your brand is perceived and capture that all-important emotional response.
SIMPLICITY
Logo’s, and branding in general, works best when it’s simple. If you think about the logos for the world’s biggest brands, all of their logos will be made up of simplistic shapes or outlines but are still easily recognised. When it comes to your own brand imagery, go for the simplest design you can. Logo’s with lots of intricate details will get lost when it’s reproduced on a small scale and when it’s blown-up, it will look too busy. Simple doesn’t mean it has to be boring, but by bringing together shapes, colours and typography simply, you can create something really appealing that is instantly recognisable.
THE FINAL WORD
There’s obviously a lot more that goes into brand imagery than can realistically be put into a one blog post. There’s a lot of planning, time and hard work that goes into this kind of thing. The logos, images and overall visuals you send out into the world need to accomplish a lot of things; from building customer trust, influences buying choices and engages with your audience. You need some patience as it’s not something you can do overnight, at least not if you want it to work effectively on your marketing strategy, but have some fun with it and please don’t try and overthink it - you’ll tie yourself up in knots and spend your time second guessing yourself.
We hope you found this useful. If you need any help with any of this for your own business, please let us know. You can get in touch or connect with us via email or social media (all the links are below). If you have any of your own ideas, hints or tips you’d like to share with our audience, please let us know in the comments below.

CHAPTER 2.
TW: typical case briefing, mentions of missing person, a stalker, significant injury, blood, gore and murder / death. This is another reminder that there is an age-gap of 14 years, slight mention of divorce. Case based on 3x06.
Upon the team's arrival at the local police department, you’re met with a slightly older looking man, who introduces himself as Detective Yarbrough. “Welcome to Texas, you must be SSA Aaron Hotchner” he welcomes, shaking Hotch’s hand as he speaks.
As you watch the interaction your thoughts linger on Hotch, he was an incredibly attractive man, it would be pointless to deny it, but then again, you shouldn’t be fantasizing about your boss, especially your newly divorced boss, who’s fourteen years older than you. That being said, it didn’t stop you from time to time.
“That would be correct and let me introduce you to my team, these are Agents Rossi, Prentiss, Jareau, Morgan, Selwyn and Dr Reid”
A mixture of greetings are offered as the detective leads you all toward a makeshift conference room, “I didn’t realise you had a trainee on your team”.
You see Hotch’s brow furrow “I’m sorry, a trainee?” his voice laced with either confusion or annoyance, you can’t quite tell.
“Oh, I thought” he gestures to you, “I just assumed she was a trainee, she doesn’t look like FBI”.
Annoyance, his voice was laced with annoyance, or was it anger? Once again you couldn’t tell. You’d come to expect this assumption from most people, you were only twenty-three and probably looked younger due to your fresh-faced appearance, which was highlighted by your immaculate yet soft makeup, you didn’t bother to cover the three faint diagonal scars on right cheek, and you allowed your curly brown hair to frame your face. Before you even had the chance to reply, Hotch had spoken up.
“I’m not sure why you’re concerning yourself with the appearance of my team, especially since you’ve plainly stated that you’re working off assumptions, detective. Agent Selwyn is an exceptional agent. Lets get set up.”
Along with the rest of the team, you begin to set up the conference room, pinning pictures and case notes to the board, mapping out a timeline of the previous four days and laying out a map of the crime scene. Settling down into a chair to read over the original police report, not realising that it’s just you and Emily, you begin to take notes of anything that could be deemed as important, you’re not ten minutes into working when Emily breaks the silence. “He’s not wrong though Paisley, you don’t look like a typical FBI agent”.
Momentarily, your eyes flick down to your outfit, she’s not wrong, you didn’t look like a typical FBI agent, not with your casual style. Today’s outfit of choice consisted of a forest green camisole top layered over a long sleeved white turtleneck tucked into black mom jeans, along with your trusty pair of black doc martens, which were an everyday essential for you. Another everyday essential of course was your jewelry, a ring with a stone on each finger, each differing from one another in size, shape and colour, along with multiple earrings in each ear, not forgetting the same two necklaces you always wore. Letting out a small laugh, you look over to her, “True, but then again nor do Reid and Garcia” which elicits a laugh from her in return.
Turning your head back to the file in your hand, the rest of the team make their way back into the conference room, shortly followed by Detective Yarbrough, whose face looks tainted with a mixture of anger and panic “There’s another missing person’s poster. Enid White, her roommate called Dallas PD this morning, she didn’t come home after walking her dog last night.”
This causes Hotch to stand up even straighter than before, but Reid is the first to respond to the panicked detective, “So she is missing then”.
“Well he wallpapered around the area of the apartment for two blocks and Dallas PD is still canvassing to gather any additional information, but nothing has come up so far”.
“Outside, that’s different for this unsub. Do you mind if I keep hold of this poster, Detective?” Hotch says tucking the it away, but not before turning to Morgan and Prentiss telling them to visit the first victim’s home and instructing Dave and Reid to walk the disposal site with Detective Yarbrough, whilst JJ deals with the ever growing queue of media questions.
“We’ll regroup in an hour and in the meantime Selwyn and I will visit Enid’s roommate” Hotch announces. Not long into the car journey, you begin to stare out the window, taking in the scenery outside and you’re eventually drawn out of your dazed state by Hotch clearing his throat “Paisley, are you alright? You seem distracted”
“Huh? Yeah I’m fine, just taking in the scenery, I just think it’s a shame that the only time we see these places is when we’re called on cases, y’know? Oh and Hotch, I never got to thank you for what you said to Detective Yarbrough this morning so thankyou”
“Maybe you should take some time off” he suggests with a hint of a smile ghosting his voice “You don’t need to thank me Paisley, I’d do it for anybody on the team”. Of course the team. You scold yourself for hoping that he’d singled you out and you force yourself to push your thoughts aside as you pull up to the apartment. As the two of you get out of the car, you’re met with a mass of reporters and a local detective, Hotch takes the lead and introduces the two of you.
“Agents Hotchner and Selwyn. Did the press run with the story about the mask?”
“What mask?”
“A mask was left at Michelle Colucci’s apartment, and we need to keep that detail out of the press or they’ll have a field day.”
The detective nods and continues “The roommate tells us that Enid walks her dog at the same time each day, taking the same route”
Hotch nods in acknowledgement “Nothing a stalker likes more than a strict routine” you murmur your agreement and take the opportunity to speak up and gesture to the hundreds of posters surrounding the apartment.
“She would have seen this on her walk if it was already up when she went missing. We need to speak with the roommate and find out as much as we can”. You turn to Hotch to continue your train of thought, but you notice he’s already looking at you with a look you can’t quite place and scold yourself for not being able to work it out, some profiler you are Paisley.
Once the team all gathers back at the station, you all begin to swap information about the case and once you’ve finished recounting the relevant bits of information, Morgan pulls you to one side as people break away into smaller conversations.
“Well well well if it;’s not our exceptional SSA Paisley Selwyn” he jokes, making reference to Hotch’s previous comment, which earns him a swift jab to the arm and an eye roll from you, along with a sassy remark.
“Didn’t realise you wanted compliments from Hotch, I thought you got enough from Garcia, Hot Stuff?”
“I get plenty from her, you however, could dish out some more, Pretty Girl” he retorts back to you and you both share a laugh. You were close with the entire team, but you and Morgan held a much closer bond, sharing a love of sports and often being assigned as partners in the field.
Much like earlier on the plane, Hotch draws everybody’s attention back to the case just as Garcia calls through with a new lead “Greetings my loves, I’ve just been running Enid White’s credit cards, turns out one was last used at 9am at a store in Dallas, but unfortunately that’s all I have for now”.
“Thanks Babygirl” Morgan calls out to her and you smile, one of the things that solidified your friendship with Morgan was how appreciative he was toward Garcia as more often than not people overlooked her, making the mistake of thinking she was nothing more than a glorified computer geek.  Once again, Hotch starts to distribute orders, telling JJ to phone the store to gain access to the CCTV footage of the store where Enid’s credit card was last used. Not even thirty seconds later, a local officer walks in with the news that there’s an urgent call on the line to which Detective Yarbrough clicks on to.
“This is Enid White, I saw the news report that said the police didn’t believe that other woman when she saw the missing person poster”
The detective shakes his head “That was a mistake Enid, we can help you, where are you?”
There’s no response, Hotch leans closer to the phone “Enid this is Aaron Hotchner of the FBI, we believe you and we’re here to help you. Can you tell us where you are?”
“El Royale Motel, Dallas, please come quickly, he’s going to kill me” she begs, you can hear the sheer panic in her voice as Detective Yarbrough assures her that help will be arriving shortly and hangs up soon after. The ride to the motel is tense, and the team quickly clears the room and are met with the sight of yet another white mask and more posters covering the floor.
“She’s gone and it only took us twenty minutes to get here, I can’t believe we lost her” exclaims Detective Yarbrough looking around the scene, he’s visibly frustrated and you know Hotch can see it too, he shares a look with you and Rossi and you decide to voice what you’re thinking.
“We might not have, he kept Michelle for four days and this coupled with the fact that he left the posters on the floor shows that he left in a rush, almost like he knew we were coming.”
Rossi begins to show his agreement with your statement as Morgan and Prentiss emerge from the motel room “This phone was found under the bed, a Carrollton area code was the last number she dialled” Morgan informs you.
Emily nods along and then continues “So this means he could have been listening in and heard everything she said, he wanted to make sure that the police found the mask”
Hotch’s eyebrows pull together as he looks between the team and the crime scene, knowing what this look means you brace yourself for what’s to come as he utters the very words you knew he would. “Detective Yarbrough, we need you to gather your men and give a profile”.

I don’t want her to come
Summary:  When Ash wakes up in the morning, Pikachu is nowhere to be found, and Ash has no idea where he could be. Until Brock reminds him of a talk they had the night before...

Tags: Fluff, Humor, Missing Pikachu
A/n:  My fic for day 6 of the @pokeshippingweek! I took a substitute prompt again, which is "Missing Pikachu". Hope you guys like it, have fun reading!
From the moment Ash had woken up he’d just known something was off - like it just wouldn’t be a good day for him.
Now, six hours later, he felt vindicated. He had spent the last hours searching for his partner, his friend, but to no avail. Pikachu was missing.
Ash was sure he’d been there last night when he’d went to bed. Because he’d had a discussion with Brock it had been later than usual, but when he finally set foot into his room Pikachu had been there, snoring away peacefully in his bed.
 This morning, he was gone.
At first he’d just thought the Pokemon had already gone downstairs to have some breakfast, like every morning. When he hadn’t been able to find his Partner there he was a bit surprised, maybe, but not more than that, Pikachu wasn’t his prisoner, he was allowed to come and go as he wished. It was just that usually, he refused to step too far away from his trainer.
When he’d met his mom and her Pantomime working in the garden and both informed him that neither of them had seen Pikachu, he knew something was up. His mother was immediately alarmed as well, seeing as Pikachu always stopped for one of her breakfasts before leaving the house.
Now, well into the afternoon, Ash knew little more than this morning. He could eliminate the option of Team Rocket or Arceus-knew what other Team or opponent now; there was no sign of forced entry anywhere in the house and, what was the most important part: Pikachu’s backpack was missing, as was a Pikachu-sized bottle of ketchup.
Pikachu had run away. But why? They hadn’t fought, or at least not that Ash could recall, the opposite was the case, actually; they had watched a movie before Brock had called, and Pikachu had voluntarily sat on Ash’s lap the whole time. He could have heard him and Brock talk afterwards, sure, but he couldn’t remember saying anything that would make Pikachu mad or sad in any capacity, not even a sarcastic comment or jab.
Thinking about it, though, brought him at least an idea, so instead of combing the garden and vicinity any further he went inside to call Brock.
Thankfully, his old friend picked up immediately, and Ash’s worry was written on his face so obviously he refrained from any greeting. “What happened?” he asked, his voice sharp, and Ash sighed. “Pikachu’s missing. I swear he was in bed last night when I went upstairs, but this morning he was gone. Hasn’t even have breakfast.”
Brock raised an eyebrow, wrinkles of worry appearing on his face. “Team Rocket, maybe?” he asked, but it was obvious from the way he said it that he didn’t really think that was an option.
“There’s no sign of forced entry. Also, Pikachu’s backpack is gone. And a bottle of ketchup.”
“So he ran away?” Brock looked just as surprised as Ash had been.
 “Looks like it.”
For a few seconds, it was quiet, Brock was obviously lost in thought and Ash didn’t dare interrupting him. Then a knowing grin appeared, just the corner of his mouth inching up the smallest bit, but Ash knew Brock had thought of something, and he would probably wouldn’t give it up easily. “You don’t think he heard us talking last night, do you?” he asked, his voice innocent, and Ash furrowed his brows.
“It’s possible, but why does that matter? Did I say something about him?”
“Oh, not about him…” Brock said, still sounding as innocent as possible, “But you did say something about his second favourite person that he probably didn’t like much…”
Ash thought back, trying to understand what Brock meant; but he came up blank. He couldn’t remember saying anything wrong - then it hit him. They’d been talking about Misty, about their relationship; about the fact that maybe, it was time for a step into the mature direction…
“Oh Arceus.” Ash cursed loudly. “He took that literally, didn’t he?”
Brock chuckled. “Oh, definitely. He probably thought you literally didn’t want her to come with you, wherever you were going, and he was not okay with that.”
“Great. So I’ll be going to Cerulean City to clear that up, I hope he made it there save,” he sighed, just slightly blushing.
“Don’t worry, he’s tough,” Brock comforted him.
 “True… Oh and Brock?”
 “Yes?”
 “I lied. She already did.”
Then he hung up the phone, grinning widely, and made his way to Cerulean City.
 ___
By air the travel to Cerulean City was a short one. It took Ash less than an hour to get there, and when he did, the gym was still illuminated brightly, the doors open. When he went inside, though, he didn’t take the challenger’s route, instead, he made his way up the stairs and into the private appartement, where his girlfriend lived.
He followed the light and murmures into the living room - and there she sat, his gorgeous girlfriend, staring at her pokegear. Pikachu was snuggled into her arms, obviously completely content. “Dammit, Ash, don’t you want to know where your best friend is?” she murmured under her breath and he took that as a queue to step out of the darkness of the hallway into the illuminated room.
“Oh, I know where he is alright,” he said, a hint of mischievousness in his voice, and Misty’s head snapped towards him. “Ash!”
“Hey, Mist,” he said, softly, stepping closer to the couch she was sitting on, before he bent down and kissed her full on the lips. When they parted, Pikachu seemed to have woken up, sleepily staring up at his trainer.
Confusion dawned on his face as he sat up in Misty’s arms, looking between the humans. “Pika? Pikachupi, pika, pikachu chuuu pikachu pikapi.” He gesticulated wildly in his arms and Ash chuckled. “No, we’re not going anywhere without her. Don’t worry, buddy. You just misunderstood, I swear.”
Happiness radiated off the pokemon at the words, and he sprung up into his trainer’s arms. “But you should sleep a bit now,” he said when he saw how tired his friend was, eyes half open and not completely on his feet. “You had a long journey. We’re going to talk more about this in the morning, okay?”
His Pokemon nodded timidly, probably already thinking about the reprimand he’d get the next morning, and how to get out of it. He made his way down the corridor and into Misty’s room without any help or further comment, knowing there was a small bed waiting for him.
Misty chuckled as Ash sat down beside her, and snuggled into his arms. “What happened?”
“He overheard a videocall I had with Brock last night. He asked me about us and really snooped into our business - so I screamed - Well, I screamed I didn’t want you to come at all.”
Understanding dawned on Misty’s face and her grin grew into a full-on laughter. The she moved, now straddling Ash. “So you lied to Brock?” she asked, seductively, her eyes flashing in that darker blue that made Ash forget his name.
“Oh, obviously,” he answered, and from there on out their lips were too occupied to say another word.
Needless to say, his day ended up a lot better than anticipated.

Bungie Weekly Update - 9/5/19
This week at Bungie, Mars is on the mind.
A few weeks ago, we forecast our first Community Challenge. Our destination of choice: Mars. With a unique emblem and additional Menagerie loot to earn, we knew you’d take this on… but we didn’t think you’d prosecute the Hive this quickly. To say we’re impressed with your progress is an understatement. Here’s a quick snapshot of how far you’ve come in so little time:
Tumblr media
Remember, to qualify for the exclusive Community Event emblem, you'll need to complete one Nightfall before next Tuesday at 10:00 AM Pacific. Luckily, it looks like there's some work to be done in the Nightfall department. Don't forget, we have the Find Fireteam feature on Bungie.net and the Destiny Companion App if you're in need of some team mates. We'll be sending out emblems to qualifying players next week, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.
We’ve got some exciting news on the docket this week. A Bungie Bounty, upcoming Crucible changes, Sandbox ability tuning, and a fashion show of upcoming armor. Let’s get to it.
JOIN THE STRIKE TEAM
Next week, we’re assembling a special strike team for another Bungie Bounty—and, like we always do, we’re leaving a seat open. In keeping with our streaming tradition, this is your chance to find us in the wilds of matchmaking and engage in live combat with the hopes of winning an emblem as your reward. On this occasion, we’re putting a price on the heads of whichever strike bosses the fates choose.
Bungie Bounty—Strike Team Edition
Destiny 2 on Xbox Live
Heroic Strike Playlist
Tuesday, September 103–5 PM PDT
www.mixer.com/Bungie
If matchmaking chooses you to play on this fireteam, your fellow Guardians will be two titans of industry (even though one of them plays as a Hunter). These are two old friends who have recently been reunited by Cross Save. They’ll be live at Bungie to stream their session.
If you get matched up with these Guardians, and they decide that you held up your end of the fight, they’ll award you an emblem you can use to prove it—so be sure to back them up on the path to victory. Look alive and play your best game. This will be your first chance to win the Destiny 2 Year 3 Bungie Bounty emblem. Check it out!
Tumblr media
They’ll launch as many strikes as time permits, with a different Guardian from the community as the third player. If you’re watching and participating in chat, there will also be some prizes for you to win as a spectator. We’ll have seven Destiny 2: Shadowkeep Collector’s Editions to award—and those are otherwise sold out.
Our friends at Xbox also have some special prizes up their sleeves, so tune in to watch or queue up to fight alongside two of the biggest Destiny fans we know.
========
SHAKE SHAXX
Many of you have been asking how the Crucible experience will change on October 1. While we outlined some changes in the Director’s Cut: Part III article, we wanted to put the magnifying glass on a few more upcoming changes.
Tumblr media
Director Update
When Shadowkeep launches, your Crucible Director will look a bit different. Here’s a quick rundown from the Director’s Cut:
We’ve removed the Quickplay and Competitive nodes from the Director.
If you’re looking for an experience like Quickplay, we’ve added Classic Mix (a connection-based playlist [like Quickplay today]). Classic Mix includes Control, Clash, and Supremacy.
Competitive is replaced by 3v3 Survival (which now awards Glory).
We’ve also added a Survival Solo Queue playlist that also awards Glory.
We’ve added 6v6 Control as its own playlist.
With the potential influx of new players this fall, we want to have a playlist that signals to new players where to start.
We feel like 6v6 Control is the right starting place when introducing new friends to Destiny.
We’ve added a weekly 6v6 rotator and a weekly 4v4 rotator.
These rotator playlists are where modes like Clash, Supremacy, Mayhem, Lockdown, and Countdown will appear.
We want to create some variety in the PvP experience from Season to Season, and one way we’re doing that is to bench some maps for the Season. While they’re out of rotation, if time allows we also hope to improve how they play by tweaking spawn areas, ammo spawns, and overall structure so they return better than before. The first four to be removed from all playlists are:
Dead Cliffs
Legion’s Gulch
Retribution
Solitude
We also made a pass on all playlists, removing some maps from playlists where they don’t shine.  Equinox is now only in Scorched, Mayhem, and Breakthrough, and Firebase Echo is only in Supremacy, Mayhem, and Breakthrough. While we are removing a few maps, we are also introducing Widow’s Court, Twilight Gap, and the new map, Fragment. Think Dreaming City meets Infinite Forest.
Tumblr media
Elimination is also making its return to Destiny 2 via Crucible Labs. We’ll be testing out multiple variants of Elimination rulesets and settings to see how the mode plays with the new weapons and abilities of Destiny 2.
Heavy Ammo Sharing
Heavy ammo is shared only in all 6v6 modes, and those crates have a sparkling effect to denote this. Once a player picks up Heavy ammo, their teammates have a limited amount of time (currently 7 seconds—this is something we can tweak between Seasons based on community feedback) to interact with the same ammo crate to get Heavy ammo. If the other team picked up the crate, it will turn red to indicate you cannot pick it up during this period. When the time window expires, the crate despawns.   Each player gets less Heavy ammo from shared crates than they do from unshared crates in 4v4 and 3v3 modes. The amount of ammo you receive from a crate is static and does not change based on how many teammates share the crate.
Rank Systems Update: Streaks and Floors
Glory, Valor, and Infamy streaks have been made more resilient. Instead of resetting your streak, losses will now reduce your Valor and Infamy streaks by 1, and your Glory streak by 2. You can still lose Glory, but if your rank is at or below Fabled, you can’t lose Glory if doing so would drop you below that rank (each rank through Fabled acts as a floor for Glory).
Competitive Matchmaking Updates: Skill and Glory
Destiny has always tracked player skill behind the scenes, taking into account things like kills, damage dealt, and so forth. These factors all contribute to a player’s skill rating. In Season 8, we’ve mapped skill ratings to Glory ranks, with the lowest end of the scale mapping to Guardian I, and the high end mapping to Legend. Most players are somewhere between these extremes.
As you play in the Survival playlist, the Glory system will accelerate you to the rank that corresponds to your skill rating. If your current rank is below where your skill rating says you should be, you’ll earn extra Glory based on the criteria above so you can get to your expected rank faster and lose less Glory so you don’t fall farther away. Once you reach your “expected” rank, Glory gains and losses will normalize.
Meanwhile, your skill rating is continually adjusting based on your performance, shifting the system’s understanding of your “expected” rank, and causing the Glory system to respond by pulling you toward that rank. The result should be that over time, your Glory rank will become an accurate reflection of your skill. It also means that teammates of different skill will experience different Glory adjustments from the same Survival match.
When it comes to Crucible, matchmaking and hopper nodes are only half of the puzzle. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be detailing Sandbox changes, which directly impact the meta that you’d find in our PvP environment.
SHADOWKEEP SANDBOX UPDATE: ABILITIES
As Destiny 2 continues to evolve with the upcoming release of Shadowkeep, many of the tools in your space magic toolbox are receiving a tuning pass. This week, we’ll be focusing on subclass changes, as the list is fairly hefty. Below, we’ve paired developer commentary with upcoming patch notes to paint a picture of how your abilities are being updated—and, more importantly, why.
Buffs
Nightstalker Way of the Pathfinder (Bottom)
Goal: We want to lean into the fantasy of a speedy disruptor. Pathfinders need more tools to scout the battlefield and a skill based way to engage with that gameplay more often. We should reward this scouting and battlefield control gameplay, executed well, with more opportunities to do the same. At the same time shadow shot needed some quality of life improvements for long standing frustrations.
Vanish: Smoke bomb grants invisibility to allies
Gives 1 stack of Heart of the Pack (newly revamped) to all allies hit
Grants +34 to armor, recovery, and agility
Gives weapon reload speed and handling
Max 3 stacks
Increased invisibility duration from 7 > 8 seconds.
Provision: Killing tethered enemies creates super orbs and increases agility, armor, and recovery for allies
New Perk (old perk benefits moved to be part of Mobius Quiver)
Damaging enemies with your grenades reduces the cooldown of your smoke bomb (6% per damage tick)
Making allies invis gives you grenade energy (17.5% per ally)
Moebius Quiver: Fire super multiple times and deals massive damage to tethered targets
Added the old Provision perk to naturally be part of Mobius Quiver
Killing tethered enemies creates super orbs and grants stacks of Heart of the Pack for allies
Expanded the range of Heart of the Pack from 20 > 30 meters.
Shadowshot Super (Top and Bottom path)
Damage increased from 150 > 250
One shot kill in PvP
Improved tether accuracy near obstacles
Suppress on hit is more consistent
Sentinel Code of the Protector (Top)
Goal: This path is the main support role for Titans and focuses heavily on melee kills while staying near allies. We want to focus more heavily on buffing allies so that players care about the timing of their buff usage. With a loop which allows players to get their melee energy back more quickly this will be a more engaging path to play. Additionally, Ward of Dawn is currently not up to snuff, and needs a buff that ties in to the fantasy of buffing allies.
Defensive Strike: Melee ability that creates an overshield for nearby allies
All kills while the overshield is active grant melee energy for the player with the shield (works for all allies you grant a shield to)
This is based upon enemy threat level from 5% (minors) to 25% (players and bosses)
Rallying Force: Melee kills heal nearby allies
Heal buffed from 10 health and 10 shields to 10 health and 20 shields (50% increase)
Ward of Dawn: Alternate super that creates a shield bubble
Increase ward health versus supers
Most supers will require the whole thing to be dumped on the ward to destroy it but will (usually) not kill the players inside.
Ward grants weapons of light buff when passing through it (35% weapon damage for 15 seconds)
Grants an additional super orb (3)
Auto-generated orbs now grant the same amount of super energy as regular super orbs (previously the orbs gave less super energy on par with masterwork orbs)
Sentinel Code of the Aggressor (Bottom)
Shield Bash: Shoulder charge that disorients nearby enemies
Now suppresses the target hit and any enemy within 2 meters (have to be basically right next to them)
Voidwalker Attunement of Hunger (Bottom)
Vortex: Nova Bomb leaves behind a damaging AoE pool
Initial explosion damage increased 15%
Lingering damage increased 15%
Dawnblade Attunement of Grace
Well of Radiance: Alternate super that creates a healing/buffing field for allies
Grants an additional super orb (3)
Auto-generated orbs now grant the same amount of super energy as regular super orbs (previously the orbs gave less super energy on par with masterwork orbs)
Nerfs
Nightstalker Way of the Trapper (Top)
Shadowshot: Fires an arrow that damages enemies and debuffs enemies nearby
Damage sharing for the Nightstalker player specifically reduced from 100% to 50%
Now all allied players have 50% damage sharing on tether
Nightstalker Way of the Wraith (Middle)
Flawless Execution: Headshot kills while crouched grant invisibility and truesight
Truesight now lasts 3 seconds (down from 9)
Shattering Strike:
After performing a Flawless Execution, your melee attacks have a longer lunge range and weaken enemies
Advanced warning: When we made the change to Flawless Execution this also unintentionally nerfed this ability to only last 3 seconds (it was directly tied to the truesight). We have prepared a fix for the 4.6.1 patch to restore the weaken and lunge range increase to last the entire 9 seconds regardless of truesight and invisibility status.
Instant Reloading
Goal: In the beginning, Lunafactions and Rally Barricade did exist, but they were clunky to use. They still had dramatic impact on gameplay even in that state, but eventually we decided to make their effects easier to handle. The problems they introduced always existed in the game, but over time these have become magnified due to new abilities, perks, and weapons introduced into the Destiny 2 sandbox. The impact of something that takes all reloading out of the equation means that other perks or effects like the Hunter’s Marksman Dodge or the Sealed Ahamkara’s Grasps can simply fall to the wayside – Even swords take a hit in comparison, being one of the few weapons that naturally never needs to reload.
Reloading is one of those mechanics that are simple, but have wide ranging consequences. Because the effect on gameplay of removing reloading is inversely proportional to the size of your weapon’s magazine and how slow your general reload animations are, weapons like Rocket Launchers and Shotguns can benefit greatly compared to other weapons. This, alongside the increase in general access to damage bonus effects like Well of Radiance left us with the decision to remove this effect from these two sources, as they were causing things to quickly snowball out of control.
Titan Rally Barricade
This ability now provides a large increase to reload speed for the duration of the effect
This ability no longer automatically reloads your weapons from reserves
Warlock Rift/Well of Radiance
Lunafaction Boots now provides a large increase to reload speed for the duration of Well of Radiance
This exotic no longer automatically reloads your weapons from reserves
Super Energy Regeneration
Goal:
These changes will reduce the speed with which players are able to earn their super which supports difficulty and reduces the current ability to trivialize certain content through excessively chaining supers. Systemically, we want to reduce base sources of supers on a large macro scale without diminishing the feeling that your actions are gaining you a worthwhile energy boost. By reducing the speed at which you gain super we can make mods and perks feel more worthwhile. We still want it to feel like you can make meaningful progress not only through normal play but by augmenting super energy through teamwork, class choices, gear, and skillful play.
New Energy Granted by Super Orbs:
Super Orb: 7.143% (50% reduction)
Masterwork Orb: 2.5% (50% reduction)
Kills: (25% reduction)
Minor: 0.6%
Elite: 0.96%
Mini-boss: 1.8%
Boss: 3%
Player: 3%
Assists: (25% reduction)
Minor: 0.3%
Elite: 0.48%
Mini-boss: 0.9%
Boss: 1.5%
Player: 1.5%
Damage Multipliers
Goal: At Destiny 2 launch, damage buffs were fairly sparse – There was Empowering Rift for a small increase, and you could combine it with a weakening effect such as Hammer Strike, but very little else. As time has gone on, we introduced Well of Radiance, Weapons of Light, Guiding Flame, Frontal Assault, etc, and combining these effects has resulted in player damage output far beyond what was previously available. Even with just a small amount of them, a player can go from 1x damage to 3x and beyond, causing there to be an extremely large gap between standard player output and theoretical output. By preventing the larger effects from stacking, we are able to keep each of them around without having to do something in response like raise boss health to compensate for these tactics, as well as create more of them. As an example, Lumina would not have been created in world where the damage bonus effect of Noble Rounds stacked with other damage effects, and these changes are simply an extension along those same lines.
While the weakening effects never stacked, we also took a look at them and adjusted their values as many of our more powerful units would simply evaporate when touched by one of them, but we compensated for that in other ways, such as either extending the duration of the effect or in the case of Shadowshot, making it affect power weapons.
Player Damage Buffs
Player Bonuses
Bonus damage effects that apply to all of a player's weapons simultaneously no longer stack multiplicatively. The highest applicable bonus will be used instead.
This does not affect single weapon buffs such as Rampage, Kill Clip, or exotic weapons that increase their own damage. These will still stack multiplicatively.
Buffs that provide bonus damage will still exist simultaneously on the player, so in the event that the one with the highest multiplier wears off the next highest will be used instead.
This change affects the following weapons/abilities (Empowering Rift, Frontal Assault, Guiding Flame, Sun Warrior, Inertia Override, Well of Radiance, Lumina/Noble Rounds, Weapons of Light)
Notable exceptions: Vengeance (One Eyed Mask)
Frontal Assault
Bonus damage is now +20% (Previously +25%)
Sun Warrior
Bonus damage is now +20% (Previously +25%)
Well of Radiance
Bonus damage is now +25% (Previously +35%)
Weapons of Light
Bonus damage is now +35% (Previously +25%)

Incoming PvP damage is now +50% (Previously +55%)
This effect no longer excludes power weapons
Tractor Cannon (Repulsor Force)
Incoming PvE damage is now +30% for all elements (Previously +33%/50% for Non-Void/Void damage respectively)
Incoming PvP damage is now +50% for all elements (Previously +33%/50% for Non-Void/Void damage respectively)
Hammer Strike
Incoming PvE damage is now +30% (Previously +50%)
Duration increased from 6 to 10 seconds in PvE
Shattering Strike
Incoming PvE damage is now +30% (Previously +50%)
Duration increased from 6 to 10 seconds in PvE
Reduced Super Damage Resistance
Goal: Since the launch of Destiny 2 we have slowly introduced buffs to supers, especially roaming supers. While we believe supers should be powerful they should not be mindless. We want supers to be more risky in both PvE and PvP. We want players to think about positioning and timing more. Not so long ago we experimented with Spectral Blades by lowering the damage resistance substantially. These changes were generally well received and improved the experience of the super for both the person running it and the person who was running from it. In PvE players shouldn’t feel like their super makes them invulnerable and casting one should call for situational strategic thinking. In PvP players need to feel like they can challenge a super and that with skillful play there’s a chance they can beat it.
Super Damage Resistance removed from masterwork armor
Inherent Super Damage Resistance lowered by category (see below)
Low- 54% → 49%
