TASK 001. CARTER PRESLEY’S INSTAGRAM FEED

I am currently writing a paper on the music of the Captain America trilogy, and this has caused me to notice an exceedingly interesting detail that I previously missed. In The First Avenger, after Peggy shoots at Steve, a melody that sounds very similar to the Captain America theme plays. This repeats twice: one time when she puts the gun down and stalks away, and again while Steve and Howard are so shocked by what Peggy just did that they stare after her even as they continue their conversation.

This is quite disgusting, as it rather implies that Peggy just did something noble and honorable, or something that Steve would approve of, when this is not even close to the case. Steve would never be so thoroughly irresponsible and reckless, nor would he approve of such pettiness, or partake in it himself. Indeed, it is clear to see how betrayed Steve felt when he was cautiously ensuring that she was done shooting at him. The music also disingenuously tries to reframe the characters' reactions to her outburst as positive. The fact that the almost-Captain-America theme continues after Peggy leaves Steve and Howard staring after her endeavors to make it seem like their reaction is because they're impressed, rather than because they are stunned and dismayed as is far more likely.

And what's worse, this is not even the only time that the music disagrees with how the characters are acting in its haste to glorify Peggy and promote Steggy. Later in the movie, after Peggy kisses Steve without his consent, a happy little horn melody plays, even though it is pretty clear that the kiss upset Steve, and did not please him. The music seriously did a surprising amount of heavy-lifting for Steggy.

But in any case, this does help explain why so many people have no problem with Peggy assaulting Steve, and even see it as a good thing: the music is encouraging them to see it that way. This is yet another example of how influential framing can be.

I'm hoping to launch a certain event in the upcoming months (probably starting March, but it's still tbd) and I was wondering, which of the characters I haven't written for yet, you'd like me to include in the future?

Carter had at one point never thought about having kids, hell if asked he would have looked at you like you were crazy. He wasn't the type. Plain and simple. Right? He was focused on advancing his career. That same career that had lead him straight to Ilia and his entire life changed. He wouldn't change it for the world. He couldn't think of his life without Ilia in it. He loved her dearrly, she was his daughter and nothing would take that from them.

It was because of all his over time, pain in the ass determination and focus on literally just about nothing else that allowed him a form of flexibility now that he did have other things to focus on. He would takena break from work everday to take the time to pick Ilia up from school and get her settled at home with Hank before he finished up the rest of his work day.

Those walks home have become his favorite part of his day.

Carter waited and watched as the carpool and walker students were dismissed, all flooding out the school's side door. In the sea of kids, there she was. Carter kneeled and held his arms out ready to hug her. "How was your day, Ilia?"

If I had known that male celebrities are apparently totally cool with marrying women 10 to 20 years younger than them, then 13-year old me might not have wasted time crying over how I was too young to marry Nick Carter.

(Side note: Nick Carter and my husband are almost the same age. Bahaha.)

Lesson: I knew jack-shit when I was 13. Most of us don't, and that's NORMAL. You learn by living.

I told Cap he should dress up as sexy Captain America for Halloween. Sharon said that’s what he always dresses as. First of all; that was a gross display of affection. Second of all; she has a point.

As inspired by @claramurphyqueenoffandoms's recent return, the awesome not-quite-human AU ideas by @acaplaya-musings and Queen in 5 Minutes coming on shuffle on my walk home, I am once again thinking about what I'm gonna do with my Vocalization series.

As none of you probably know, my beloved VoicePlay fanfic called Vocalization started off on Wattpad in 2020 and, looking back at it now, is maybe the purest mirror of my mindset back then that I have ever seen. It's only fitting that Evelynn, my OC for the fic, eventually became my namesake. If you've been a VoicePlay fan for a bit longer, you'll know that, in the summer 2020, Earl left the group, and this broke my heart and set off the end of that phase of my VP-related creations. Eventually, even though VoicePlay was still going through member changes, I got back into Vocalization, and I decided to revamp the fic on AO3 because I myself had changed as a person and the fic didn't suit my tastes anymore.

Now, once again years later, I feel like I've become a completely different person from who I was back when Vocalization started, but Evelynn/Evie has stuck with me, and I feel like it's only fair to bring the fic full circle too and get back into it... Only I want to do it a little differently this time. The whole idea of "Oh it's VoicePlay but the Kidnapped series actually happened and now they have a girl with them" just doesn't work out for me anymore.

So, what I think I wanna do is I wanna bring my supernatural AU into the main fic. Not the story of the AU necessarily, but just some aspects like the powers to spice things up a little and create an actual plot. That probably means revamping or tweaking some of the powers, but I think it could work! Huge thanks to @acaplaya-musings for opening my eyes to the possibility of how that could work - don't worry, I'm not gonna steal your ideas. I'm gonna try to stay away from them as far as possible, but my Geoff is still gonna be a demon because I my thought process was very similar to yours when I created my supernatural AU ^^"

Anyways, OPLA still has me deep in its clutches and I wouldn’t have it any other way, but once I get back into my VoicePlay phase, this is probably what you're gonna have to deal with :)

Balls amongst the supernatural weren't the worst thing in the world. There had been some good ones that Celeste had attended. The dancing always felt freeing. Dancing like no one was watching was the best part. Unfortunately, there was no feeling like that when everyone was watching them. Celeste wore her best dress and did her hair up. It was one of the first time she had reason too. At least, her marriage wouldn't be the topic of the night. "Is there anyone we should go catch up with? Or should we stick with the pack?" Celeste had some concern for the females. They had never been exposed to anything else this before. She hoped they wouldn't be eaten alive. The men would be watching out for the women.

It isn't possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you.

For a small cafe, it had a lot to offer: a quaint, charming decor - one that perhaps would have been considered out of fashion for modern times yet there was something about it the detective loved about it. Friendly chatter could be heard among customers sitting comfortably at their tables: regulars and some first timers all the same. Despite the busy atmosphere as the lunchtime hour kicked in, it was still quite pleasant to simply sit and spend time in.  The vast choice of a menu for a little business was impressive. It had taken Aaron a while to decide what he wanted but now that he had, he was distracted by the chocolate chip muffin that was practically beckoning him. It sat there untouched on the plate of the person sitting opposite him. In fact, it only just occurred to him right then that a question was directed at him… and he had no idea what the spoken question was. Their words went through one ear and out of the other.

“What? Yes, I was listening, actually,” Aaron quickly piped up, completely oblivious as to whether the other had even asked if he was listening. Which, if they hadn’t, was a massive indicator that he hadn’t been listening, thus foiling his plan to pretend to play along with whatever the topic of conversation was. Gesturing towards the muffin on the plate, a small smile tugged the corners of his lips as the man let out a quiet laugh. “I was listening… I just so happened to notice that muffin looking sad right there, untouched and painfully alone. Coincidentally, I was wondering if you were planning on eating it? Me and the muffin, well, I feel like there’s this unspoken connection, you see. And it’s just destined to be in my digestive system.”
