I still do think it's quite interesting that people would fakeclaim plurals who'd discover they have OSDIDD at such a later time of their life when, not only is it normal for people to learn they have it in a great amount of years later, but also OSDDID is meant to be a covert condition that protects the individual / system from negativity and traumas and potential danger. Of course, we wouldn't know if there is someone present who would (co-)front when a distressful event occurs to be the one endure it instead or if someone else has been fronting while """ pretending """ to be this person to avoid them + the system falling into danger. Usually, alters would resurface when they feel safe + comfortable enough to reveal themselves or when the individual suspects they're not alone and engage in things that would create a safe space for them to show up over time. It's unfortunately quite easy and frequent for people to assume people are pluralfaking when they would come out at a later age instead of knowing they would have it this whole time / since childhood, but that is completely not the common case at all.

there's a thing i wish newer fans of spn could have experienced and that is when the show was airing, week to week, and for years and years on this website or on LJ or on twitter or wherever, coming up with speculation and meta posts and trying to follow the clues as to what this show was giving us in terms of material.
i'll admit some folks probably took it too far and didn't understand that just because the show didn't do 100% what they thought it was going to do, that it wasn't baiting or that they didn't know what they were doing — however for the most part, for a lot of us, it was just fun.
and i say this because fans that were brand new fresh once the show ended didn't get to experience that, it was all catch up and a post-show fandom environment for the last 4 years. the winchesters provided a bit of that rush again but it was so short lived that it was hard to get it going.
and why i think that experience is something good to have or at least understand that it's an experience that some people in this fandom have, is because it's gotten a lot of us used to not taking it all 1:1 face value. that is: we're used to things we think are going to happen not happening, we're used to the fact that our speculation and interpretations can be wrong, we're used to the fact that the people creating the stories have their own way of doing things, and while we think we know best, at the end of the day we're playing with the toys they left for us in the sandbox.
i don't think older fans are anything to sneer at or write off because even the ones who may have been the most jumpy during the show's airing have since grounded themselves and will essentially 'wait and see' how any continuation pans out, and also had that same approach with the winchesters and many folks i knew who took that approach were pleasantly surprised with that prequel.
not that we're The Wise Ones TM but that all that time in this fandom and interacting with the show did build this certain skillset for many and it's not that we're dumb, it's not that we're delusional or that we're always wrong about stuff, but that we learned how to have fun with it.

What I don't understand is why Sansa stans, who want to get rid of Arya in Winterfell, go for the laziest fanon of Arya being a tourist - a theory that's borrowed from ultimate hacks D&D and the garbage TV show and which ending GRRM has repeatedly disavowed.
Arya becoming some kind of world explorer at the end pretty much ignores her book story, narrative arc, characterization and throws away the material in her so far written 32 pov chapters for an ending they came up with because of a made up headcanon. An headcanon which is far removed from the book character.
If one wants to get rid of Arya in Winterfell to make way for Sansa, the least they could do is actually read Arya's chapters and attempt to come up with an ending that makes more sense for the character.
Arya is a character who wants to help. From Mycah to Weasel to Samwell Tarly, Arya is someone who stands up against injustice even at great risk to herself. She's selfless and would sacrifice her personal happiness for the greater good. She wants things to be better, for herself, for her friends, for the smallfolk.
One ending could be Arya Stark as a leader of the Riverlands, helping rebuild from the ravages of war, helping the people who survived. Arya, who has the empathy and the skillsets to help them, who has listened and learned from her father on how to govern. We see Willow Heddle take care of orphans and managing an inn with a quiet efficiency that mirrors Arya's and Gendry hanging around helping her. I could see Arya and Gendry continue their relationship, fall in love, marry and settle down in the Riverlands while Arya either rules the Riverlands as the Tully heir/Cat's daughter or as Lady of Harrenhal helps Edmure Tully rebuild the Riverlands.
Or, if Jon Snow leaves for beyond the Wall as the leader of the new territories and lands there, maybe Arya goes with him. Considering their close bond and love for each other and the fact that home is where each other is - something else that is again established in the books - if she had no choice but to leave Winterfell, going with Jon Snow to help him lead the freefolk beyond the Wall could be another option.
Or if Bran does end up becoming King on the Iron Throne, then she could stay in KL to help her much loved baby brother. She wouldn't like leaving Winterfell, but Arya is a character who sacrifices and does what's right, no matter how hard it is for her to do personally. Plus, she wanted to be a king's councillor and build things. Her training and skillsets with the FM would also make her alert to any future LF/Varys types trying to plot against Bran - not that someone who can see into the past and present needs a master spy...
Or Arya and Brienne start a school for young girls who are interested in learning different things and have teachers who actually develop their talents based on what they are good at instead of being hateful for what they cannot be.
In my opinion, any of these endings is better than 'Arya, world explorer' an empty, nonsensical ending that has no connection to the character's book story and is actually contemptuous of the suffering and trauma this child has been through over several books. Meet new people and learn new languages? What do these folks think Arya has been doing so far? The girl's been traveling from her second AGoT chapter, meeting countless people. sailed the narrow seas, engaged with new cultures, learned new languages. She's been there, done that.
What's even more ridiculous is that it's Sansa stans who often engage in the oppression olympics of Sansa having suffered the worst, that Sansa 'deserves' Winterfell because she suffered the most abuse, that the only ending that makes sense for Sansa is being back in Winterfell because she suffered so much etc. And yet according to these very same folks, Sansa is going to roll up her sleeves and tirelessly work to lead the people of the North, while Arya is going on a cruise ship vacation and vlog about the new cuisine she is trying out...Hey, maybe after having suffered the most of ALL characters in the series, maybe it's Sansa who deserves the cruise ship vacation, you know?
We have the author himself saying that Arya's harrowing experiences and journey through Westeros and Essos has aged her up so much that he considers the character older than some of the 40 year olds in the books! And yet there are still people harping on and on about tourist Arya ffs.
I personally think Arya will be in Winterfell at the end of the books, either helping her younger brothers Bran/Rickon lead the North or more probably as a leader in her own right.
Arya is a central character in the series, the female character with the most POV chapters. There's no way GRRM has one of his lead female characters end up playing a supporting role in her brothers or sister's story. No way.
The author has given her the character development in the books to lead the North. She has a hulking huge grey direwolf at her side - the sigil of house Stark. She is the lone Stark who has the Stark look. Her direwolf is named after the first Dornish princess who changed female inheritance in Dorne - a big clue for a character who has chafed against patriarchal restrictions on what women can and cannot do. I mean this is how we are introduced to Arya Stark in her very first AGoT chapter:
“The Lannisters are proud,” Jon observed. “You’d think the royal sigil would be sufficient, but no. He makes his mother’s House equal in honor to the king’s.”
“The woman is important too!” Arya protested. - Arya, AGoT
It's clear to me that her arc is heading towards her being the first Lady of Winterfell/Wardeness of the North, nicely bookending her arc which started with her wanting the woman to be as important as the man, arguing for equality when it comes to their house. That's how organic story telling and building a narrative actually works.
I am aware of the principal Internet forums about A Song of Ice and Fire and I really used to look at the American and English groups. Nowadays, the most important site is Westeros, but I started to feel uncomfortable and I thought it would be a better idea not to get to these sides. The fans use to come up with theories; lots of them are just speculative but some of them are in the right way. Before the Internet, one reader could guess the ending you wanna do for your novel, but the other 10.000 wouldn’t know anything and they would be surprised. However, now, those 10.000 people use the Internet and read the right theories. They say: “Oh God, the butler did it!”, to use an example of a mystery novel. Then, you think: “I have to change the ending! The maiden would be the criminal!” To my mind that way is a disaster because if you are doing well you work, the books are full of clues that point to the butler doing it and help you to figure up the butler did it, but if you change the ending to point the maiden, the clues make no sense anymore; they are wrong or are lies, and I am not a liar. - GRRM

How the Web Was Woven: Chapter 3
A/N: Buckle in, folks. Shit's about to get real. Once again, this is the time travel/soulmate AU with Elvis and a fem!reader. Prepare yourselves, friends.
Special thanks to @ccab for always being my beta, to @elvisfatass for always being my support, and this time to @tacozebra051 for encouraging me to post this, even when I almost chickened out.
Need to catch up? Here's my Masterlist.
Warnings: 18+ minors DNI, ANGST, ANGST, AND MORE ANGST, talk of death, grief, etc. Also kissing, cussing, p in v penetrative sex, unprotected sex, creampie (I promise this is not a smut fest. I tried to make it very tasteful- the sex has a purpose. You'll see why.). But also so much angst and sadness.
Word count: ~2.7k
Tumblr media
You jump up and walk slowly towards the portal, your heart beating wildly in your chest...
******
The house is eerily silent and all you can hear is muffled sobs. Thank God you wore a dress that you bought at a vintage shop and not your typical jeans and t-shirt. Although, for the past year, you've been casually wearing clothing from the '50s just in case you stumbled across a portal.
It doesn't take you long to find him. In fact, you damn near trip over him. He's in the same corner of the house you were in, curled up and crying, clutching what looks like a woman's nightgown. Your mind races.
Gladys.
You're exactly 50 years in the past and Gladys Presley died two days ago.
You crouch down and try to approach him slowly. You don't want to scare him. You reach out and gently put a hand on his shoulder. He looks up at you and his mouth drops open.
"Y/n. You're here?"
"I'm here." He grabs you and wraps his arms around your waist, head on your chest as he continues to sob.
"My mother..." He tries to choke out an explanation.
"Shhh, no, I know. You don't have to say it." He cries for a few more minutes and then it dawns on him. He pulls back and his face has changed from abject sorrow to unmitigated rage.
"You know? You knew this was going to happen!" He pushes you away from him.
"Elvis I-"
"You knew and you said NOTHING." Tears start to stream down your face.
"I couldn't say anything. I couldn't tell you."
"BULLSHIT. You could've said something. Anything. So that I could've done something. Or at least spent more time with her. God, how could you?" Your shoulders shake as your tears hit the floor. There's so much venom in his words.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry."
"Just get out."
"Elvis, where am I going to go? The portal is closed. I'm stuck here."
"That's your problem."
"Please." He looks up at you and the depth of his pain is evident on his face. You cup his cheeks in your hands. "I can't change what's in the past. You matter to the world, Elvis. Anything I tell you might ruin that. I know you're in pain right now, but I think you'll understand that when you're not." He nods, so you keep going. "Do you think I wanted to keep this from you? That I wanted to let you hurt like this? Do you know how badly I wanted to save you from this? How hard it was for me to know this was going to happen and be powerless to stop it? I'm here, somehow. This is the best gift I can give you. I'm here to be with you through it. God, I'm so sorry." You press him against your chest again and both of you sob together as you hold him.
You sit like this for a long time, not even noticing exactly how long. Eventually, Elvis falls asleep against you like a spent child and you continue to sit on the floor with him. When one of the maids finds you, she's shocked because she has no idea who you are or how you got there.
"Young lady, who are you?"
"I'm y/n, Elvis's friend from Tupelo." You pray that lie will be enough. Elvis stirs awake when he hears you talking.
"She's my girlfriend. I called her earlier and she came over. Don't worry about it." The maid nods her head skeptically and goes back to doing whatever she was doing. He looks up at you.
"My back is killing me. Come up to my room and we'll get in bed."
"Nobody will ask questions?"
"This is my damn house. They can kiss my ass." As you make your way upstairs with him, your mind wanders back to him referring to you as his girlfriend. If only.
******
You wake up together tangled in sheets and each other. He holds you close to him and kisses your forehead.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you yesterday." He whispers.
"No, it's okay. I would be mad too."
"You really can't tell me anything?"
"I really can't. It might jeopardize too many things. And besides, I know that I won't because the future is what it is."
"That makes my head hurt."
"Yeah, it's complicated." You lay in silence for a little while, arms wrapped around each other. Finally, he speaks.
"I am glad you're here. I've missed you a lot over the past year."
"I missed you too. I've been looking for you everywhere, going to places you performed and all kinds of stuff. I can't believe I found you here."
"Well, I live here."
"I know, but I've been here three times in the last year. I never found a portal." You lay there together for a bit not saying anything. Finally, he speaks again.
"I like your dress." He looks over at the black and white polka dotted garment where you laid it over a chair in his room. You're wearing one of his pajama tops now.
"Thanks. I bought it at a vintage shop."
"That's funny." He almost laughs, but then it's like a shadow passes over him. "I'm sorry I can't be like I was."
Your heart breaks because you know he'll never be quite like that again. He's lost his jovial innocence and even when he's happy later on, there'll always be a small piece of him missing.
"It's okay, Elvis. You're allowed to hurt." He rolls away from you and starts to cry again. You pull on his shoulder gently until he rolls back and you hold him again as he sobs. As he does, you run your fingers through his hair and notice how much shorter it is. Then, you remember that he's been drafted and will have to leave soon. What will you do when he goes? Hopefully, you'll find a portal before then.
He cries until he seemingly can't anymore and then he just lays on your chest trying to breathe.
"What should we do today?" You ask, your stomach rumbling.
"Can we just stay here and do this today?"
"You want to stay in bed?"
"Yeah."
"We can do whatever you want. But I'm gonna need some food." He looks up at you and gives you a small smile.
"Come with me." He gets out of bed and wraps you in his robe. Then, he takes you down to the kitchen, where one of the ladies that works there is doing some dishes.
"My girl is hungry. What do we have to eat in this house?"
"Breakfast or lunch?" You look at your watch. It's almost noon. You didn't realize you slept that long.
"Lunch, I guess?" You look up at him and he nods.
"Sandwiches?" You've read about the sandwiches Elvis eats. You're not sure you're ready to go there.
"Yes, but just peanut butter and bananas for me please."
"How did you... you know what kind of sandwiches I eat?" You smile awkwardly and he shakes his head incredulously.
The woman laughs and starts gathering the ingredients for the sandwiches.
You sit at the table talking while you eat and his mood seems to have improved a little bit. He still doesn't smile, though. When you finish, he grabs your hand.
"Better, honey?"
"Much better. Back to bed?"
"Yes please."
The woman who made the sandwiches raises her eyebrows at your suggestion, but Elvis doesn't notice or doesn't care. You make your way back up the stairs together and barely make it into his room before he falls apart again. He sinks to the floor and you hold him and rock him gently.
You manage to get him back into the bed and he settles against you while you stroke his hair and hum lullabies and gospel songs. He spends most of the day like this in your arms crying on and off. Any time you try to move, he pulls you closer and begs you to stay where you are, so you do. Luckily, the other people in the house seem to know how upset he is, so no one disturbs you. Aside from the maids who know you're there, they probably just think he's in his room alone.
When evening comes, he looks up at you from his place on your chest. It's been about an hour since his last crying spell.
"I think I want to take a shower."
"Okay, that's good."
"I have a headache from crying. I think it'll help."
"I'm sure it will."
"Will you come with me?"
"You want me to sit in the bathroom while you shower?" You're willing to do almost anything for him at this point. It kills you to see him in so much pain.
"I want you to get in the shower with me."
"Elvis, I don't know if that's a good idea."
"Please, y/n. I need you. I just don't want to be alone." His eyes well up again, so you agree quickly.
"Okay. Whatever you need. I'm here." He nods and slowly gets out of bed, pulling you with him. You start the water and he just stands there, so you go to him and help him undress. Once he's naked, you take off your own clothes and then get in the shower together.
The water runs down both of you as he wraps himself around you and cries again, big sobs this time.
"God, why?" He groans into your hair.
"Only He knows." You whisper back, praying that's a decent response. It seems to satisfy him a little because he stands up and nods.
"I'm sorry." He looks down at his feet.
"Elvis, please stop apologizing. I am here for anything. I love you." His eyes snap up to yours and he seems to be searching your face. All the pain and all the grief pause for just a moment as he thinks about what you just said.
"You love me?"
"Of course I do. I should've told you before you left last time." He leans down and presses his lips against yours softly.
"I love you too, y/n. Please don't leave me." You wrap your arms around his waist and lay your head on his chest. You can't stay here forever. Or can you?
You feel his body quake as he begins to cry again, so you pull away from him and get a washcloth. Once it's soapy, you gently run it over him, cleansing him in a ritual of service and love. When his body is clean, you get some shampoo and massage it into his hair. He leans back into the water and rinses it out. You notice that he's stopped crying for the moment as he reaches for the shampoo.
"Can I wash your hair?"
"Oh, um, sure, if you want to." He nods and begins to massage shampoo into your hair. Trading places with you under the water, he leans your head back and rinses your hair under the shower head. When you stand back up, he kisses your forehead.
"Thank you. You're a nice distraction." He puts his hand on your neck and runs his thumb over your lips. He seems to notice for the first time that you're naked.
Your body is beautiful and even through his pain he can appreciate it. His hand trails down your chest to your hip.
"We should get out." You realize what's happening and decide it's probably time to put your clothes back on.
"Please, y/n. Let me make love to you."
"Oh, Elvis, I-"
"Please, I just want to feel something." He whispers as he kisses down your neck. He comes back to your mouth and kisses you lovingly, his tongue grazing yours gently. He whispers again.
"Please."
"Okay." You nod. If this is what he needs, you're not going to deny him. And it's not like you don't want it too. He kisses you more deeply and uses both hands to pull your hips into his, pressing his erection into your lower stomach. Bending his knees slightly, he lifts one of your legs and enters you slowly. Once he's fully pushed into you, he groans softly.
The intimacy of this moment, with the water streaming down your body and his connection with you undeniable, washes over him and he loves you completely. When he moves in and out of you, it's not driven by lust, but by a need to feel as close to you as possible. He has wrapped you around him like a much-needed security blanket and every thrust brings you closer together. Everywhere your skin touches is an opportunity for shared pleasure and he needs it so badly.
You whimper softly with the sensation of him pushing inside you so gently. You've never made love like this before and there's a softness to it that fills you with affection for him. Your arms are wrapped around his neck and you pepper him with small kisses on his face.
The weight of your connection is not lost on either of you as you move together. He begins to pump with a little more speed and you know he's approaching the inevitable end. Neither of you wants the moment of closeness to expire, but you know that it must.
When the end does come, he moans softly and tangles his fingers in your hair, kissing you with every ounce of passion in his body. He lowers your leg carefully, pulling out of you gently and pressing his forehead to yours.
"I love you. I love you with all of me." Tears come to both of you, mixing with the water that's still running down your bodies.
"I am yours, Elvis." He kisses you again and pulls you close to him, reaching behind you to turn the water off. You open the shower curtain and step out and he wraps both of you in a large towel. You're so wrapped up in each other that you don't even notice it.
It's not until you almost step through it that you see the portal.
"No!" He says it loudly when he realizes what it is. You turn and grab him tightly.
"I don't wanna go."
"Then don't. Stay here with me forever."
"Elvis, you know I can't." You're both crying frantically now.
"You can't leave me here like this without you."
"I don't have a choice!"
"There's always a choice!"
"No. I know what your future is and it isn't me. It can't be me."
"I can't lose you too." His voice is so thick with emotion as you run into his room and dress quickly. He stands and stares at you, tears streaming down his face. You walk to him and hold his face in your hands.
"You're not losing me. You'll never lose me. I will find you again. Or you find me. We've done it twice now. I believe we can do it again."
"If I find you, I'm not leaving."
"Don't say that."
"Goddammit, y/n, why is this happening to us?!"
"I don't know! But I'm so glad it is." You choke on the last part of the sentence and he holds you so tightly it's almost hard to breathe.
"I love you." He kisses the top of your head.
"I love you too, but I have to go." He releases you and kisses your mouth again.
"I will find you. I promise." You nod and walk away from him towards the bathroom, half hoping that the portal has closed.
But it hasn't. The air is still wavy and the buzzing sound fills the small room. He stands in the doorway naked with the towel wrapped around his waist. You give him one last sad smile and walk through.
He sinks to the floor and weeps. How will he survive this without you?
******
You're back in the corner of Graceland where you found the first portal. Your hair is wet and wild and you're crying and a tour guide is shocked to come upon you in such a state. Still, she's found weirder things in the mansion, so she gently escorts you out of the house. When you finally get back to your car, you sit in the driver's seat and cry hysterically. How will you find him again?
******
Please come back for Chapter 4!

Got a spoilery ask about SLARPG regarding Melody's character arc and, to a lesser extent, the ending, so I'll put this below a read more!
Anonymous asked:
Heya! I adore adore adore SLARPG, and have latched pretty hard onto Melody and Harmony's dichotomy for a while... I was wondering whether you saw Harmony more as an obstacle to Melody's growth, or something to be worked on and reconciled with more like Madeline and Badeline from Celeste? Unless it's spoilers of course. It's one of the few threads left open after the game, and as a plural woman myself I was just curious. X3
I'll say up front that I've generally avoided stepping in and telling people what The One Correct Interpretation is for a lot of things in SLARPG. I didn't intend for Melody to be read as plural, since in the story Harmony is a parasitic outside force, but I also understand where that interpretation comes from and won't tell folks they're wrong for relating to her like that. That's just the beauty of art. We can relate to things however we want. I just wanna make sure my personal framing is clear before I talk about the thought behind Melody and Harmony's relationship
Harmony is more of a literary device than a character. While she's not an alternate personality for Melody, she's also not really a full person in her own right. I don't think about Harmony having her own arc. She's a magical force that occasionally externalizes Melody's darker, more self-critical thoughts for the audience, where normally she would keep them to herself. She has her own design and name to make the dialogue boxes easier to follow. I also keep it intentionally vague whether or not other people would be able to see Harmony because I find that understated uncertainty more fun.
On a literal level, Harmony is a magical parasite, and therefore an obstacle to be overcome. She's not supposed to be there, straight up. But because she's just the embodiment of dark thoughts that Melody is already having, there isn't really much point in "defeating" Harmony to me - which is why things play out the way they do.
Even if Melody got rid of Harmony, she would still have to deal with those feelings. It would be a purely symbolic victory. And symbolic victories like that are often satisfying as hell in fiction, but in real life you can't defeat your shadow self to stop those 3am "what if my friends are only pretending to like me" thoughts. So instead, Harmony is something Melody needs to cope with and minimize. It's not about getting rid of bad thoughts forever, but rather learning how to deal with them better. And that's an active, life-long process. And so Harmony remains, but Melody is working on having healthier relationships with both her loved ones and herself.
I'll also say that, while I love Celeste, Madeline and Badeline's arc is mostly irrelevant to the way I write Melody and Harmony. (I don't think this ask is accusing me of plagiarizing Maddy Thorson or anything, to be clear. I'm just on a tangent since the comparison was brought up.) SLARPG began development in 2015, so the Harmony scenes, and Melody's arc as a whole, were already planned before Celeste came out. While I worried about getting compared to a much more popular game, I stuck to my guns, knowing that my story was different enough to stand on its own. If anything, I just avoided specific phrases like "reflection" or "I'm a part of you" to try and keep people from just pointing and going "Celeste reference!"
Unfortunately the "wow this is just like Celeste" comments were unavoidable, as were the newfound generalizations about what all indie games about trans girls with anxiety must be like because there are two (2) whole games that share some common story tropes, and it seems like the ending may have thrown some people off because of expectations created by Celeste. But what are you gonna do? I at least avoided my absolute nightmare scenario of Deltarune Ch.2 doing glitch aesthetics or giving Susie and Noelle a kiss mechanic lmao

I've never seen a single episode of anything related to watcher but I am eating up all this drama. Also sorry to y'all going through this
i appreciate that anon 😭 i've seen several good nuanced takes on the situation thankfully. the company definitely did mess up how it introduced the streaming service to people: they said in the video they were going to paywall all existing and new content and then in the comments and in the variety article pretended like that was never their intent. the variety article reveals that they were in fact initially told watcher was going to delete all existing content. the CEO in particular but in general all the founders said that the amount they are charging is affordable - specifically that anyone could afford it - which no they can't obviously. As they are now finding out the hard way. The CEO Steven also made an instagram post insinuating people who wouldn't subscribe just no longer want to watch them, rather than the reality which is that a massive majority of the audience can't afford to. Because he is the CEO, people are blaming the entire thing on him, but it's also important to remember there are actually three founder-owners with decision-making abilities in the company. Shane and Ryan are adults, and the way people are acting like Steven is some kind of dictator, Ryan just went along with it but Shane is the people's anticapitalist hero who was simply outvoted is not a great look. Especially the posts that refuse to acknowledge even the possibility of racial biases here. Mistakes were made, poc are not immune to criticism, but let's consider why so many feel like Shane was forced into this by the evil Steven (and people in the comments have literally called him evil for this) and either lump Ryan in with him or give Ryan no agency in the situation whatsoever. Steven is the most likely to have made the proposal as the closest thing Watcher has to a business-minded founder, but the other two clearly agreed with him. They could have just decided not to be in the video. I also don't see a world where they contractually obligated themselves to every whim of Steven's like some people are suggesting.
Do I think they're a bit sheltered in their LA life? Yeah, probably. I'm pretty sheltered myself - I live a comfortable middle class life in Australia, have a good job and am studying law. I could definitely afford the subscription. But I don't want to atm, or at least until they respond to the situation. Are they the worst most evil capitalists because they want to charge money for the content they create? No, not inherently. People supported them on Patreon because of course creatives should be paid for their labour, and ideally paid well enough to live comfortably. But the combo of bad business decisions (e.g. hiring too many staff too quickly while also wanting to pay them above a living wage, not advertising the patreon, not utilising revenue streams that aren't a streaming service like youtube memberships, spending what Ryan has said is hundreds of thousands of dollars on a single season of a series they have called Ghost Files) and the fact the CEO is pretty open about his comfortable lifestyle (drives a tesla which btw folks isn't a luxury car it's just a more expensive one, has a $300 matcha machine, has a series based on fine dining vs more affordable restaurants), means people are understandably mad because they are struggling financially and the founders (from what we know) are not - but they're trying to tell people that 6 USD is affordable for everyone.
It's a lot less to do with the fact of them charging for content as much as the way they went about it and in particular how it's been phrased to people has come across really insensitive. There's other logistics with the streaming service itself that were not thought out at all for international viewers, but I won't get into that here. And the pretending they were always going to leave their content up and telling viewers not to spread misinformation is scummy to me - at least acknowledge that was a mistake you made and backtracked on. It's just a mess but I really loved their videos and hope they make Youtube's Greatest Apology Video Ever (unironically) and try to undo some of the damage.
edit: someone in the replies made a great point that teslas could actually be considered a luxury car in some countries outside of the US, and I fully agree that 6 USD is 1) too much for what they offer, esp in this economic climate and 2) wayyyyy too much when converted to other currencies. I've seen other Australians say the conversion is too much for them but I know viewers in other countries say it comes out to literally thousands for them - if they can even access the site at all from their country.

Now all I can think about is Prey!Papa-Naruto because it would be the wildest funniest thing ever! Poor Hinata is probably trying to make sure her kids grow up to be good morally upstanding people and Naruto is just….Yeah 😬. Funnily enough this Naruto probably wouldn’t have as much of a contentious relationship with Boruto because there’s no way he’s putting work above spending time how he wants 😭. And as a Kawaki hater I’m pleased to say I don’t see this Naruto being altruistic enough to take in some random abused kid so really we’ve got my ideal version of the Uzumaki family 🫢. Anyway, I bet parent-teacher conferences and kiddy playdates and birthday parties are gonna be fun times 🤣. Speaking of bday parties happy early birthday! I hope it’ll be a fun one.
Daddy Prey!Naruto is the funniest thing ever, lol.
For sure, Naruto would spend time with his little mini-me. Who would stop him?
I feel like Boruto would be very aware that his father is a homicidal nutjob and spend his time trying to keep innocents out of harms way, but he does it in ways that are just as bad as his father, because of course, the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree, and that he has this huge blind spot to when his own inner crazy is starting to show, lol. And of course, mess with his mom or baby sister, well then, you'll have a hard time telling Naruto and Boruto apart at all🤭he'd justify his violence and the bodies in his closet because Prey!Narupapa taught him that delusion is just another way to say correct, and there's nothing wrong with customizing your own reality when it's convenient. He'd also spend so much time trying to undo Hima's worst tendencies their dad is teaching her in an effort to help his mom out, but ends up making it worse by teaching her "alternative" tendencies that are just as bad but much more slicker than his father's open bluntness, which ultimately, makes Hinata's job harder, lol. Poor lady, I can see her trying to explain the situation to her crazy husband. Hinata: I'm trying to make sure the kids have a moral compass, Naruto Naruto: The fuck they need that for?
I'll be honest, I really don't know all that much about Kawaki since I don't watch the show, but his design is very cool, and the clips I've seen of him on youtube I vibe with🤭but Naruto being altruistic and adopting a poor orphan? Not fuckin likely at all, lol. Prey!Naruto wouldn't care about any kids but his own🤷🏽‍♀️so you're all set for sure, lol.
Parent-teacher conferences would be lit af😂imagine Naruto's big buff tatted up self sitting in one of those itty bitty chairs at a table lower than his knees while the teacher tries to get him to understand that it's not a good thing that his little girl is drawing her classmates with their heads somewhere other than on their shoulders🤣he would be so insulted and have a very scary diatribe about why Hima's work is "art" not a "red flag". The teacher would resign the next day by the time he was done. Omg birthdays🙈One word: Pinata. Take that as you will, lmao!
And omg, I wanna write Prey!Naruto at a PTA meeting, lmao! And you'd think Hinata was the one that dragged him to it, but NO, he'd go on his own because he's a super paranoid bastard that needs to know what is going on in his orbit and that includes his hellspawns, and if he doesn't like what he hears he'll have to retire a few folks to ensure things are being run for the benefit of his offspring😂
Hima's not doing a kiddy playdate, study date, pretend date, any date. Over somebody else's dead body would Naruto allow his baby girl to do any sorta dating🤣hell naw, and don't @ him about it. End of discussion. Why? Because Naruto knows how guys are, and considering the things he does to Hima's mother on a regular basis, he's dead set on not letting any guy near his daughter until she's at least 80 years old, if she's lucky. Teen!Hima good luck trying to date or get a boyfriend😅especially since big brother's not gonna be too keen on the idea either, lol. And thank you for the early birthday wishes!!💕
I feel like this SOL Prey!Naruto family is set in stone to be a thing at this point, lmao. I'm certainly sold on it. I won't say whether or not I plan on Hinata getting knocked up in Prey, ya'll will have to wait and find out but I definitely think this should be a full SOL fic at this point, lol. It's just too good to pass up🤭

OMORI: GUARDIAN ANGEL AU - ASK THEM ANYTHING (THE VERY MUCH PLANNED HALLOWEEN SPECIAL)
How's it going folks? Welcome back to Know Your Monsters! Halloween's is just around the corner, so we got a special treat for you tricksters! For Monstertown's 3rd Hollow's Eve, we've asked you to say some burning questions to some human-turned-spooky specters (and their mortal companions) who popped up in the MTT Hotel to give you this totally planned special! We got your questions, so now we ask... why are you crying?
Tumblr media
Witch Mari: *sniff* I'm sorry - It's just - It's our first Halloween with me back - and - I never though we would ever enjoy today like this - aND WE CAN DO SIBLING COSTUMES AGAIN *sobs*
Black Cat Sunny: …I think me not celebrating any holiday for years affected her.
Akita Neru Aubrey: I forgot how into Halloween she was...or, is.
-
Tumblr media
Lucas Frisk: *I recall how hard it was to coordinate costumes with Chara every year! I reckon we will run out of costumes pairs by year 5.
Masked Man Chara: YOU may call me picky, I would call it having actual taste. Hollow's Eve is a personal favorite holiday of mine and I will not muddle it dressing as a technicolor astronaut!
Frisk: *Hey! I point out that it is from a Horror Drama show specifically.
Chara: Why are you so adamant about us having pairing outfits in the first place?!
Frisk: *Because you're my best friend~ (*I make a heart with my hands)
-
Tumblr media
Miku Madotsuki: Sorry my ghost friend couldn't make it tonight, she got so excited for Halloween she kind of got tuckered out and went back into... anyway! I can ask any question in her place! (Um, this interview isn't public outside town, is it?)
-
Tumblr media
Purple Guy-er: You couldn't even bother to get a somewhat matching outfit. Just wearing the mask isn't enough!
Myers Mask Kris: It's more a costume then whatever you're suppose to be.
Player: I. Can't. Change. OUTFITS. This is the best I can do with my colors!
Kris: Then make your body transparent. At least then you'd actually pass as a ghost.
Player: Just give us the first question please, smiley helmet guy.
Okay! This first question towards you two I also want to ask the rest!
Tumblr media
Player: Alright, let see, my name is... Player! I'm 19 years old and have been a gamer since... childhood.
Kris: Good job so far.
Player: Well SORRY I don't believe regular people would understand the concept of higher dimensional beings or that they value privacy!
Kris: The entire point of this ask thing is to get a better understanding of us.
Player: Okay well why don't you answer the next one. What do you think our relationship is, honestly?
Kris: Crippled teen and very annoying and social life line.
Player: …I mean I guess...
-
Mado: Me and my friend we're together for as long as I could remember. I thought she had gone, even when I kept seeing her everyday, but turns out she wasn't really gone in the first place. So... yay!
-
Frisk: *Chara and I go way back, before the rise of the Underground! Even when I didn't know them, they caught and saved me when I fell pass the barrier and onto the cave floor. That's when I met Chara, and we've been trusted partners ever since!
Chara: I wouldn't call being buried for decades only to be awakened by my soul being attached to a kid akin to a simple trust fall.
Frisk: *Aw, but I recall you even put down flowers for my arrival. <3
Chara: Uuuuugggghhhhh-
-
Mari: We're siblings of course! I'd like to believe that my will to be by Sunny's side is what kept me around and conscious all these years!
Sunny:  …What were you doing all that time I couldn't see you. I know you go to my dreams when I sleep, but what we're you doing when I was awake?
Mari: Well, you know I was invisible when not in Headspace, but I think in some of the... illusions you had were me sometimes.
Sunny: ?! Were you there when I thought you were locked outside?
Mari: No?
Sunny: How about when I drowned and I saw you trying to save me like last time?
Mari: You saw that?
Aubrey: …Were you there when Sunny visited me at the church?
Mari: I would've haunted their every waking moment for you. :)
Aubrey: Th- thanks?
Ah, actually Aubrey, there are two similar asks interested in you and Sunny.
Aubrey: Huh? But I thought this was for-
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Aubrey: How do they-! I- I mean...
Sunny: …
Aubrey: He's my friend. He made a mistake, a really dumb, life-changing mistake. Sure I was mad when I found out, furious actually, and then I got more angry at myself when I realized... I almost did the same thing.
Sunny: !
Mari: Oh Aubrey...
Aubrey: You- you gave me somewhere to go when I had nowhere else... even after everything I did to you... so... yeah
Sunny: …You're my friend too Aubrey. I might not feel the same way like back then, but I like what we are now.
-
Mado: …Got to love the childhood friends trope, huh?
Oh? Do I sense something between you and Sunny?
Mado: I did not agree to ask questions directly from you.
Oh, it didn't come from me~ :3
Tumblr media
Mado: Nanda-!
-
Sunny: She's comfortable to be around. She doesn't judge when I do something off-putting, and gives me good art advice when I started drawing again. She's so different from me, yet... we understand each other. She's... sweet.
Mari: (Internal squeeing)
-
Tumblr media
Mado: …
So how about-
Mado: SUNNY IS. A GOOD PAL. HIS SISTER IS NICE ALSO. GOTTA LOVE JAPANESE SOLIDARITY.
Mado: …and. He also. Doesn't mind. When I...
Get stabby?
Mado: Eh?! Where did that come from?
Well...
Tumblr media
Mado: Na- I only stab things in dreams! Which I guess whoever the hell you get your questions from knows about apparently!!! And I stopped doing much of it after a while! I'm curious but I'm not some intrusive thought following maniac! Who would something like that in real life?
-
Sunny: I thought dream worlds only held consequences when you wanted them to. I've only learned recently that was not the case.
Mari: To be fair little bro, you could say "you" had a good control of what you dreamt about.
Sunny: Also Kris likes stabbing stuff? I don't remember them being that into it.
-
Tumblr media
Kris: …I have several knives. I keep them in a case to display.
Player: I've seen Sunny walk past it several times. I believe he thinks it's for the kitchen.
Kris: F@#k kinda kitchen needs that many knives.
-
Frisk: *I wonder why the ask never mentioned Chara.
Chara: I only have the one dagger, Frisk.
Frisk: *And you take care of it like your own kin.
Chara: I use it for gardening! It needs to be cleaned 3 times after use!
Moving on, this next one is for you, Chara.
Tumblr media
Chara: Well, I'm not one to brag, but in my living days I was referred to be a "demon who comes when you call their name." I now hold view this title as endearing, as I take pride in seeing how I can personally unsettle humans (and sometimes monsters) with nothing but my words and face. Mari is the nice, gentle, caring older sister of our little ghostly group, so really, I don't see a need for it to be a contest.
Frisk: *I mention the time with the cookies-
Chara: *through gritted teeth* That was admittedly a moment of weakness spurred by my love of chocolate. I acknowledged my defeat that day only to claim what I wanted. A deal was made, so it doesn't count.
-
Sunny: Never mess with older sisters. They hold a monumental power behind their smile.
Mari: Tee-hee~
That brings me to you, Mari.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Mari: I can say that Mari's Magical Might is only growing with everything I learn! VIOLET HANDS, healing magic, teleportation, and Alphys said that I might even have an affinity for Water Magic as well! Undyne was so excited when she heard that!
Sunny: I think it's cool, I hope being linked to her gives me magic too.
Aubrey: At least you have a chance! I'd pray to the heavens a hundred times if it meant I had powers half as sweet as yours, Mari!
Mari: Aw thank you! As for what my mother thinks, at first she was shocked that I wanted to learn magic, but she quickly changed her tune when she saw that I could help around the house better with my HANDS.
Mari: As for the latter question... unfortunately full controlling shape-shifting is something I'm still getting the hang of. I'll let you know the moment I'd be able to do... that!
-
Chara: I'd say she's lucky to have as many experienced teachers, such as myself, to help her discovering her power.
Frisk: *I express my relief that Chara has not yet burned a part of the forest during their training with Mari.
Chara: It was ONE time, we agreed with that white furry forest guardian to not train too close to the dense forest. I am not some brainless pyromaniac.
Frisk: *The first thing you did when you could do magic was seeing if you could make a fire sword.
Chara: Well, some fire is obvious, I am a Dreemurr after all.
This next ask is for you, Frisk. This one comes from all the way in Japan!
Tumblr media
Frisk: *…These asks are getting way too personal.
Chara: You have just noticed?
Frisk: *How do I say this... If you are referring when I could load the entire timeline to a previous state, then I'm afraid I am not able to do that anymore. I cannot even load my most recent save, the one just after breaking the barrier.
Chara: There is little in this universe, let alone this world, that can affect time with the degree of control that we, er, Frisk had when they first entered the underground.
Frisk: *Even when I did have it, I didn't have much control of it. I only remember it forcing a load when I... lose enough HP. That was enough however, as I didn't use it for anything else.
Frisk: *As to theories on how to get that power back, I can think of a few methods...
-
Player: You still owe me an explanation on the white sparkle save point thing back in the "DW."
Kris: I don't owe you anything.
Player: You JUST called me your lifeline!
Kris: I don't see other people giving their UV drip a trophy.
-
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Teto Monoko: *sleeps soundly*
----_--__--- - - --- - -
Oh woops, I think that ask was a little corrupted.
Mado: ?
-
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Sunny: Oh, a water stone. Thanks.
Sunny: Um, I didn't have AC in my old house. It feels nice on hot days.
Aubrey: Hey, I know that were getting a lot of our personal life out there, but isn't it strange we can see the names of most who's asking us?
Well, we do in fact have 1 more anonymous question, it's for you Mari.
Mari: Oh! Well, ask away! There's no shame in a little anonyma-
Tumblr media
*Mari is crushed by the large ask!
Sunny: !!!
Aubrey: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD, MARI!
Tumblr media
*SLASH!*
Chara: Mari, are you alright?
Mari: Ugh, yeah, I'm fine. You know, ghost biology and all that.
Aubrey: What was up with that guy!? Thinking they know you like that! That was infuriating!
Sunny: Mari's not an idiot...
Mari: I'm inclined to agree, but...
Aubrey: Wh- don't tell me you agree with them Mari! It was just an accident, nobody could've how it would end!
Mari: They we're right about one thing though... I was selfish.
Aubrey: W-What...? No, it was-
Mari: You could say it was many things. The pressure from our parents. The pressure from the town. The looks of excitement on our friends faces. It was a lot, but in the end... it was me. I was the one who told Sunny to keep going. After all my fingers swelled. After his fingers started to bleed. After getting one note wrong, after getting the timing a bit off, after thinking it was just F*%KING not good enough apparently!
*Mari's spirit shakes.
Sunny: Mari...?
Mari: I... I said earlier I thought it was my will to be by your side that kept me linked to you. To be honest, I thought that it had to be the case, because the only thing I wanted to do after... everything that happened...
Mari: Was to be a better sister for you. To do- ANYTHING, to redeem my awful, stupid, selfish mistake. I... honestly don't know what else-
Chara: It was your determination.
Mari: …what?
Chara: In your final moments, you decided that whatever you had left, your love of your brother, your fear of failure, the need to repent and be a better person, whatever in your soul that was not fading, was worth still living for.
Chara: The moment you decided that, all of those feelings exploded into life, into determination. And so you kept going, not just for your brother, but also for the small part of you that still wanted to live. That so called selfishness you speak of.
Mari: …H-how... do you...?
Chara: …
Tumblr media
Chara: Because I asked that question too.
Mari: Huh...
*Mari notices Sunny's expression.
Mari: Sunny, look at me.
Mari: I... I know I hurt you. I know even if you say that your okay I can still feel what I've done to you even today. And it even might be more selfish of me to say this. But I just want- I NEED you to know,
Mari: However long I have left, if it's just a few months, if it's how long I would've lived before. I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you. To help up you when you feel down. To stop you from hurting yourself or others. To listen when no one else will. Even if you don't think you deserve it. Even if I think I don't deserve you. I will do anything to be the best sister I wasn't before. Because I love you, Sunny.
Sunny: …
Sunny: …then...
Sunny: I want you to forgive yourself too.
Mari: …
Mari: O-Okay... I'll try...!
-
Kris: …I wish I had an older sibling.
Player: In another life, buddy.
Kris: …cool.
-
…We have one more question for all of you, If you want to keep going.
Mari: Hehe *sniff* of course. Go ahead.
Alright. Final question from:
Tumblr media
Sunny: I think... the time I tripped on Mewo's litterbox and spilled it over the floor.
Mari: I'm pretty sure me calling you over to surprise you with a fake spider that day tops that, hehe.
Aubrey: I... patted Basil on the back, accidently opening one of his wounds after That Night. I felt terrible, but he was just glad for me to be worrying about him again.
-
Frisk: *I recall the hours "we" spent making Dog Residue to buy the elusive Temmie Armor. I equipped it just before Asgore. Not the best time spent.
Chara: The Buttercup Pie. I guess it counts since Dad was just sick from it. Although the ripples that event would cause could count as "life-ruining"
-
Mado: (Too many to say.)
Mado: I... called one of my teachers by their first name back in my birth town! It was suuuper embarrassing.
-
Monoko: -- Gomen... -- Monoe-nee... -- cookie... -- oishii...
-
Player: I did that thing where you held shift to quickly craft things and I accidently made 9 Diamond Hoes in a Hardcore world.
Kris: And the most stupidest thing I will do is just around the corner, so stay tuned for that.
And that will be all! Got anything to say to everyone watching and reading?
Player: Oh- uh... thanks for all your strangely invasive questions.
Kris: We honestly didn't expect to get as many as we did.
-
Mado: We hope you enjoyed this little treat on Halloween!
-
Frisk: *I express my gratitude for all of you who are still with us for this special.
Chara: It... took a while. Whether or not it was planned, efficient, or worth it in the end is yet to be decided.
-
Aubrey: Thanks for all the things you say,
Sunny: The stuff you make,
Mari: And the love you share!
Until next time!

hi so. i'm sorry if you feel like this is something you've talked about too much but i'm genuinely having a hard time understanding- what's the issue with femboys? or is it a finnster-specific issue...? idk i can see how it's an issue of like. performing femininity but not really accepting what womanhood really means but what makes it different from drag in that case? or am i going in the wrong direction trying to understand? i have amab as well as afab ppl in my life that identify as femboys and use it as a loosely-nonbinary term but i also know a couple femboys that are. hm. probably eggs leaning on the term that's less "scary" when it comes to confronting gender, is it about that....?
sorry if this is exhausting for you to discuss i'm just confused and trying to understand
Ok, keep in mind, this is a nonny. Which means I need to treat this with the intent that it's bait. Because that's what fucking happens a lot to folks. So I'm picking my words. 1. Show me where I said I have a problem with femboys in general. Because honestly? No problem with the identity. No problem with the concept. Same with drag, same with Crossdressers, same with sissys. They're all just as valid. What I have a problem with is when people specifically use and abuse things like F1nn5ter's (last I checked, still using he/him pronouns, so that's what I'm using here) use of trap content. Content that gets trans women beaten, abused, exiled, ostracized, and killed on a daily basis to make profit, and does it scot free of any societal penalty, partly because of a massive supporting userbase and fame, and partly because he wasn't out about being a trans woman yet. That right there is where my problem is. People can and should explore, play with, perform, exist in femininity however and whenever they want, but the problem is ONE GROUP OF US KEEPS GETTING PUNISHED FOR IT while the others see far less, if ever. So again, no problem with the femboy identity or femboys in general, but oh yeah, big problems with the difference in treatment. 2. I'm also gonna ask this in return- why am *I* your expert on this subject? Because this happens to so many trans women- we're out, we get seen enough to be noticed, and suddenly we're supposed to be the pillars of the community, delivering Julia Serrano level philosophy, flawless looks, opinions, and knowledge? There's lots of other folks to ask this kind of thing about, why go to the terminally weird, 46-year-old, *OUT AND TRANSITIONING FOR LESS THAN THREE YEARS STILL* writer, artist, leatherworker, and tattooist, who's still VERY clearly in the process of dealing with her own self identification and a lot of past and present trauma, and think I'm going to be the one who's going to give you the perfect answer for this? (lbr, again, so many trans women get quizzed like this, then publicly crucified for saying the slightly wrong thing- see that bit about bait again? because oh yeah, this tactic, intentional or otherwise, has been seen a LOT this year.) Because honestly, there isn't a perfect answer. It's yet another messy human subject because all of us are messy to some extent to begin with. It's never going to have perfect sense or logic. I honestly don't think that it should. Perfect answers tend to not encompass being human answers very well at the same time.
And also, I'm not an expert. Nor should I have to be one. Especially when in my usual fields, I get to charge 50-100 bucks an hour for consulting, and here, I'll be lucky if you kick five bucks in my paypal or gfm in exchange for this. That said, nonny, hope you have a good night. Keep in mind this whole #2 section? Is rhetorical. I'm not expecting a dialogue or reply, and I don't really want one, at least not one with a greyface and shades. If you want to talk more? come off anon.

I'm seeing some people criticizing finn for promoting his independent movie during the strikes, thoughts?
I haven't seen anyone criticizing him on here so it must be other places? Not sure if these folks are misinformed about the rules of the strike(s) and so they're just starting shit to start shit or if they know something I don't, but I'm gonna guess the former.
From what I understand, Finn was pretty bummed earlier this year bc he couldn't find a distributor for his film. And so by the time the strike(s) came around, it just so happened that the film still had no ties to any major studios. It's an independent film, as are quite a few of the films presenting at TIFF, with no ties currently to any of the major studios responsible for the strike.
Hell of a Summer, as well as the other independent films at TIFF, could eventually be tied to a studio some time down the line in order for the films to be distributed to the public, most likely via streaming at least, but with the strike that ain't happening any time soon (it's worth noting that even without the strike, independent films can take quite awhile to be released, upwards over a year internationally).
HOAS also has a waiver from SAG because Finn and his team presumably agreed to the terms of SAG's deal in order to be allowed to promote it. This is only something I knew for sure about because D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, from Reservation Dogs, also had a role in the film, and he posted about it being covered by a waiver.
Tumblr media
From what I've seen, both Finn and even D'Pharaoh have vocalized support for the strikes, so I don't think they could in good conscious promote this film unless it went along with the rules of the strikes.
As for SAG, they picketed outside of Apple and Amazon in Canada shortly before TIFF started. So their concerns seem to be with the big guys and not the little guys just trying to make films more for the sake of the craft and not for the sake of making money in ways that undermine their talent's livelihood.
I know some people in the industry feel differently about waivers, where some don't support them at all, insisting that a complete stoppage is the only way for the strikes to end sooner, while others think independent films following the demands of WGA/SAG being allowed to go forward with promotion could help pressure the big studios to cave sooner.
Personally, I do think it's sort of a given that the studios don't like the idea of independent films being able to thrive, while they have to sit in limbo. I also don't think independent films, that already have a hard enough time as it is to be recognized, should necessarily have to suffer the consequences of an industry that monopolizes films and makes it so independent studios essentially have to join amongst them or be doomed to fail.
That is a huge part of the problem in and of itself, because we know a majority of the major studios will come out of this unscathed, but for independent studios, this could mean their end.
And we definitely don't want a future where independent films don't have a seat at the table, hence why some of them are being given waivers, in the case they are agreeing to the demands of the guilds, so we can ensure that doesn't happen.
So just to be clear, promoting this film isn't scabbing.

My thoughts on Eclipse
I understand that not everyone has to agree with me on this for various reasons. Also I'm not trying to condone Eclipse's abuse or bad actions. None of the things Eclipse went through justify the awful things he did - which I think that new version of Eclipse is aware of.
I think that OG Eclipse wanted to be better than Old Moon - better as a brother hence why the first thing he wanted to do upon meeting Lunar for the first time was to hug him.
Lunar ignored Eclipse then because he had games - this action hurt Eclipse so much because it reminded him of how it felt when he realized that he was abandoned by Old Moon.
I think that Eclipse was questioning why he slapped Lunar because he wanted to be better than Old Moon yet he did the exact same thing. But because he thinks that regret is a sign of weakness he decided to push these feelings away.
Also when Eclipse apologized - I think that Eclipse has a problem with sounding genuine when he apologizes because he doesn't want to seem weak so it results in the apology coming across as disingenuous.
I think that Eclipse didn't want to end up like Sun hence why he try so hard (too hard) to not be seen as weak.
Would OG Eclipse apologize to Lunar? I don't think so. Though I think that abusers can feel genuine remorse - Old Moon is good example of this yet he never apologized to Sun for all the shit he had done to him - and OG Eclipse is a parallel to Old Moon.
Also Old Moon also rarely apologized to Sun for his behaviour and even if he did it was coming across as disingenuous because he still continued to be abusive towards Sun.
We can argue if showrunners did a good job in showing that Eclipse cared but I digress because we see that now Eclipse is changing.
I think that Eclipse still was abusive towards Lunar more than that one slap. Lunar probably doesn't remember much things from that time in details due to trauma and death causing his memory issues.
I agree though that Lunar was too self-centered and that even if he saw exactly why Eclipse was the way he was he didn't do anything about it. Though it's dabatable if Lunar could've done more - it's not always that easy to say "yes" or "no" in these types of situation because it's not as "black and white" as people think.
Abuse in family is more often than not a very complicated matter.
I used to think that Eclipse is only manipulative and nothing more but I changed my mind upon seeing more of his perspective.
I sympathize with him but like I said I don't condone his actions and abuse. Though I don't want to force anyone to feel sympathy towards Eclipse. It's an individual thing.
Though like I said people are way dismissive to Old Moon's abuse towards Sun than to Eclipse's abuse towards Lunar.
Also Lunar doesn't have to forgive Eclipse and honestly I doubt that he will.
And slightly unrelated I like that new Eclipse is more understanding towards Sun hence why he tries to not be so mean to him and why he avoids him or at least that's what I think.
Slight rant under the cut
The only issue I have is that people were saying that they see that Eclipse cared and that he also suffers which turned out to be true later. Though majority of fans didn't see it like that at the time when it were just speculations.
But when I tried to explain that I see hints to Sun having depressive psychosis and being suicidal majority of fans didn't agree which is okay. But what's not okay is that some folks were bullying me for this and spreading lies about me.
And they say that show disproved my speculations about Sun with "Sun has a child" episode but the truth is that they not only didn't disprove anything which I already pointed out in my recent post about that episode but they also harmed not only me but also many other fans with mental issues as well by portraying Miku like that in that episode.
Also I don't like that people can freely relate to Eclipse and other characters but I apparently can't relate to Sun because I'll receive backlash for it.
I also don't like how Moon no matter old or new is always in the spotlight when Sun just gets mostly funny lore episodes.
Also I don't believe in Sun healing off-screen. And while I think that Sun is doing better compared to last year, I think that he's still not fine - he just either denies it or just tries not to worry others.

so halloween decorations are rolling out, which is fucking awesome. and i got an email from a home decor store (at home, specifically) about their halloween stuff being out so i'm like, hell yeah i wanna look at that. and i found THIS DUDE
Tumblr media
and it's like yeehaw brother! get that creepy coffee, send those spooky emails. sometimes a cowboy is just a skeleton trying to join their team meeting, y'know?
but then i kept scrolling and like. is this the same spooky skeleton???
Tumblr media
i understand making sure you have your finest cowboy hat on for your monday meeting, but in the tub???? and sure, trade out your coffee for something a little stronger after a hard day, but the BOOTS?? like y'all, i live in the south but i don't see THAT many cowboy skeleton figurines at halloween time, so this was interesting to say the least.
AND THEN???
Tumblr media
THIS IS DEFINITELY THE FIRST SKELETON, RIGHT??? IS THIS WHAT THEY NEEDED THE COFFEE FOR??? TO GET THEIR WHOLE SKELETUSSY OUT ON THE FRONT OF THIS TRACTOR???? WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE??????? WHY'S GREENCAP GRINNING LIKE THIS??? IS AT HOME SELLING SOME KIND OF SOUTHERN SKELETON SEX GAME FIGURINES???
like good for them if so, but i just was NOT prepared for this genre of halloween decor?????
like maybe i'm misunderstanding the lore and the first skeleton and the second skeleton are different????
Tumblr media
now those are new boots and that's a different tie for the neckerchief, but this is defnitely billy bubblebath bones, right?? is this zoom call skeleton's ex??? did they see zoom call skeleton flaunting their entire bone vagina facing the world with green cap and turn back to the bottle (of poison)?????
don't worry billy bubblebath bones, there's more to (after)life for you! like the patriarchy! and by the patriarchy i, of course, mean horses.
Tumblr media
like, billy bubblebath has a whole fuckin FIT going on for their time with A Horse of the Apocalypse here. new boots, new gloves, perhapse a new outlook on this crazy thing called skeleton life. this is a skeleton who survived the skeleton war, saw their skeleton partner leave them for a freak with a tractor, and said "no, i'm going to make my own way."
i like to think billy bubblebath bones made this fucking pillow on a cricut:
Tumblr media
BONUS:
Tumblr media
as far as i can tell, this isn't for sale, but that is definitely billy bubblebath bones welcoming folks (skeletons) to their....skeleton horse farmhouse?? IN PANTS. AND A SICK BELT BUCKLE. NO BOTTLE OF POISON TO BE FOUND. like it feels like i should hear a camera shutter sound and get a slow zoom out of this polaroid after the "good end" of the skeleton cozy farm sim.
look, i don't fucking know okay?? but they're as tall as a fucking mantel and i'm now pretty convinced that if i saw this fucker, i would force it into the trunk of my prius and leave it up year round right inside my front door.

The Prisoner's Throne by Holly Black brain dump.
THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
---------------
I dont get why everyone is angry at Oak. Poor kid, he didn't have any say regarding what happened during The Folk of the Air series(TFOTA) but everyone's blaming him.
And why does everyone keep on saying that he's manipulative? There's nothing in the text in the duology that makes him so (at least I think so). If he did trick someone, it was always because he wanted to save someone or himself. I don't think that makes him manipulative. Manipulative people manipulate just for the sake of it. They can't help themselves.
---------
This book is just trying so hard to be cruel, edgy? but just doesn't comes off as natural to the story.
---------
I guess they're trying to make Wren like Cardan’s counterpart and be cruel. But Cardan being cruel made sense, Wren being cruel doesn't. I feel like this duology was a TFOTA fanfic that they turned into a book. Maybe, Holly Black didn't write this 🤔
----------
You know, my main problem with Wren is that her character is so inconsistent. She never did want to be queen or have power. All she wanted that I can see from what was shown in the book was to be loved mostly by her unfamily. Then when Oak asked her to help them with Lady Nore, she wanted to kill Lady Nore. She may also want Oak but not really with an actual thought of how or in what way. Her infatuation has always seem like just a manifestation of her desire to be loved and Oak happened to be the only one who helped her in her ‘time of need’. So saying all this, I can't fathom why she was staying in the Citadel as Queen, why she suddenly wants to be obeyed and why she suddenly wants Oak like a trophy. Seriously, when Oak went to her after getting tired of being assasinated, she was the one who said that he has to go back.
Also, I can't understand why she believes that Oak tricked her. I mean when? The only instance I can think of was when she ran away with the bridle. But she already knew that Oak wanted her to help them with Lady Nore. Granted, that changed when Oak found out that she was Mellith’s heart but did she forget that he wanted her to go and not help them anymore right after he found out. He probably just changed his mind when he thought of tricking Lady Nore. And also when she said that Oak tricked her when he kissed her in Queen Annet’s court, did she forget that she initiated that kiss? And that Oak already asked her to help them and she agreed? Why would he continue the kiss so he’ll help them when he was already assured that she would help? Maybe I missed some thing, I dunno.
-----------
I do like the scenes from the past though. The tone in those ones are quite different than the narrative for the current events (in this book and in The Stolen Heir)
-----------
I think I know why I can't connect to Oak and Wren. I don't know what their end goals are, what are thier motivations. You get bits and pieces of their insecurities and fears but none of their strengths. They always just respond to what is happening to them. In contrast, in the original trilogy, it was pretty clear from the start what Jude's motivations are. Even Cardan, eventually. Even Taryn's and Vivi's eere oretty clear.

Tbh, everyone I see trying to come up with alternative words for Culturally Christian keeps reminding me of when white people got really upset about the term White Privilege. Maybe the term SHOULD make people uncomfortable. Maybe we shouldn't have to take the complaints of others about a term we created to describe our experiences as more important than our needs. As well-meaning as some folks have been, it's been so frustrating to feel like that aspect isn't being seen. We created this term to discuss our oppression and others keep coming to us about their feelings about it, their discomfort. We didn't get rid of the term White Privilege just because it upset a bunch of white people. Why do we have to get rid of the term Culturally Christian because it upsets people it describes?
I'm trying to be compassionate too but it's hard for me to be when it feels like most of the criticisms of the term have been in bad faith and that the criticism is centered around OTHER people's feelings rather than our need to describe our oppression. Idk it doesn't feel fair I guess.
I didn't really expect you of all people to react like this to me having a compassionate conversation with someone who isn't Christian, wasn't raised Christian, and was abused by Christians for not being a Christian, about that person not wanting to be labeled as being inextricably tainted by a religion that abused them for their whole life. That's not something I expected from you. Maybe you missed that part of the conversation, or maybe you read a good faith conversation as if it was in bad faith, idk, but this seems rather unkind for you.
I understand your frustration. I also think it that if I'm actually dedicated to tikkun olam, if someone also being hurt in this situation respectfully talks with me about how I'm hurting them with splash damage from these discussions, I really should hear them out. And if, in the course of that discussion, we talk through how to not only be more accurate with what we're talking about but how to be less hurtful to other victims of Evangelical Christianity, I think that's pretty good, actually.
The person you're talking about isn't Christian and never was, so your analogy doesn't really hold. That person didn't hold any particular privilege and was never part of the dominant group in the first place. Like... that's the whole point. They're also a survivor of religious violence. You assigning privilege to that person which they never received is part of the problem we were addressing in the first place.
Plus, like, isn't the desired outcome that people who are carrying ideas and mindsets which come from Christian hegemony work on shedding those ideas and mindsets? Labeling people - especially people who aren't Christian and doubly especially those who never were - rather than ideas means those people are labeled regardless of what ideas they hold. That seems counterproductive to me, and, again, hurtful to fellow victims to label them with an identity they don't hold. It's like someone calling a bi person a Spicy Straight because they don't look queer enough or whatever - they're assigning an identity that someone else doesn't have because it makes it easier for them to speak their pain, and ignoring the damage that does.
The best part of the conversation is that by the end of it, someone pointed out that there's already an academic term -- Christian hegemony -- which has been in use for a really long time, well before "cultural Xianity" came into use. It looks like it goes back at least 50 years. So because I was patient and compassionate with someone else who was victimized like I was victimized, I got to learn something which will make it easier to communicate in the future, since that term is widely established and it's easy to point to PDFs that define it, or articles with Jewish educators explaining it.*
Sounds like a win to me - I get to avoid accidentally hurting others who were hurt like I was hurt, I learned something, and now I have a better, clearer term and can speak more clearly.
I'm sorry it frustrates you. I don't think your analogy works, though, and I'm happy with using "Christian hegemony" to describe ideas and not labeling people. I certainly wouldn't like it if someone insisted on calling me Christian, because I'm not, so forcing that label on others who also are not Christian seems hypocritical and unkind. Someone can hold ideas they learned from Christian hegemony without being Christian, and saying it that way doesn't hurt me, so it's no great burden to me to use a more established, more accurate, less hurtful means of addressing my own hurt.

Please don't vote for Mob in the upcoming Mob vs. Shallan Davar/Veil/Radiant dissociation swag poll!
Beloved mutuals, I write today to make a desperate plea for Squimbo From My Polls, as I threatened to do earlier. This is relatively unimportant and I need to be working on homework right now but this matters, To Me.
You see, Shallan, and Veil, and Radiant, my girls, my beloved, my collective poor little meow meow, soon face Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100 in @dissociationswagcompetition's tumblr poll bracket. And folks, I love both of these blorbos. I really do. But Mob does not deserve to beat Shallan and Veil and Radiant! Shallan specifically here is the QUEEN of dissociating! And she's swagful! She deserves to sweep this entire bracket! However, the Stormlight Archive fandom is a fairly small one, and Mob Psycho's is... not. Do you know the post that's about Squimbo from an obscure manga from 2004 vs Pikachu, where Pikachu wins based on pure name recognition? I fear an impending situation like that when Shallan's system absolutely DESERVES to sweep. Friends, I know we all like Mob. I ask you to listen to my plea and vote for Shallan's system instead.
Let me start with the obvious. The mostly non-spoilery. To start, Shallan, Veil, and Radiant are a canon DID system. Yes, canon DID, that's not demonized and is accurately, fairly represented! They aren't side characters, either; Shallan's system is arguably one of the two most main characters in a book series with a very large cast! It's awesome! And Shallan, to be clear, has dissociation issues besides purely being part of a DID system as well. She is constantly emotionally dissociating to cope with life. It gives her significant memory trouble. She dissociates hard and constantly and her mental illnesses are a significant part of the narrative. And let me re-iterate: Shallan's system is so so swagful. Shallan is quippy and funny and smart, Veil is an utter badass spy, and Radiant is a master swordswoman. So much swag.
Plus, she does the whole bottling up emotions thing. I get that that's why Mob is in this poll probably and let me tell you: she does all that and more. She deserves this win.
This enough should be enough information to vote for her, but I want to give specific examples, and that gets into spoiler territory. So, a cut is in order.
TO START I want to say that Shallan dissociates so hard that the count of people that she murdered and then forgot about murdering is up to FOUR!! FOUR PEOPLE. She dissociates so hard her dissociation has a body count. All were very necessary murders which is why I do not consider this demonization. Her motives were incredibly understandable, such as self defense or necessary to save the world. Does not change the fact that she entirely forgot about them.
Also. She does not remember like half of her childhood at least, during which some of those murders took place! It is commonly suspected that she probably has more people she's killed under her belt and we just don't know about it because she forgot about them. Very little is known about Shallan's past in general because she dissociated too hard and doesn't remember it. She managed to acquire a shardblade, one of the most powerful weapons in the setting, and forgot how she got it.
Also!! She's very avoidant of things that are trauma triggers, especially if they threaten to make her remember stuff she's suppressed. It's very significant because Pattern, her spren, keeps trying to get her to confront her past and move on, and she keeps fighting this every single book. This is an ongoing, deep internal conflict, and not something brushed under the rug.
Finally: this system is so swagful guys. They She got stabbed and thrown into a room full of corpses, experienced The Horrors as they were being carried there, and still got up to continue their mission later, over the course of which they took a crossbow bolt to the head and acted like it was totally fine and the others were crazy for being worried about them, and they pulled it out solely because they couldn't talk around it. PLUS they magicked up an entire army once. Also, she's witty, and always has a quip, and she's married to another swagful guy, AND she and her husband would be down for a polyamorous triad with Kaladin if he was, which he sadly isn't. So much swag.
So please vote for my blorbo please please please I'll love you forever if you do. the end

This is me quoting my "gatekeeping Jin" post (it's still on my profile if you recognize who I am) by extending it with a few of my thoughts:
"Looks like a lot more people agree with me on this one than I thought.
Long story short: Jin is a good character who is now sadly a wasted potential (because of T6 atrocious OOC writing and what not) and I'm saddened by that. However, the hate and slander against him is getting boring and repetitive to the point where it's annoying and I frankly don't have any more fucks to give. You're free to dislike or hate him, but you won't change the others' persprective on him by saying what he did in T6 for milionth of time as if we don't know that already. Find a better hobby. Get fucking real.
And to my fellow Jin fans: keep strong, comrades. You have my back. ❤️"
But yeah, just adding my two cents to this conversation.
Yeah! I remember ya! Still an epic post.
And very good addition! I should really start ignoring it more, which I do try to... and I did for a while there. But sadly, the reveal of the first four minutes of 8 seemed to... reignite the flames and those people became even more vocal than before. And like, I get it, if you want Jin to not be redeemed or die or you hate his character, whatever. But it's when they start saying the more sillier comments is when it just irks me. I'm talking about the acting like Kazuya is a much better person than Jin, not acknowledging how Tek6 is indeed poorly written, or acknowledging it yet expecting Jin fans to just... accept it rather than continue liking the character for what he was and being critical of Tek6 and wanting to see his original characterization return. It's even more annoying when on my main blog, I make a gif set or post regarding him and I get people who say shit like "Jin deserves [bad things]" or bringing up "Jin started a war!!111!!!" Whilst, luckily, it's only a handful of people who do that on my posts - but stiiiiiiill annoying!!! Like I don't care!!!
I've almost gotten to the point where I just wanna say that I fully endorse Jin's actions in Tekken 6 and that I forgive him solely because he's too pretty to be mad at. BUT that'd be a little too petty and not really worth my time.
But like, that's why I also talk about it a lot here, rather than going to tags, or other posts, or on Reddit. Because there's just no reason for me to argue with people about it since it's really hard to change internet folks' minds, and I don't think most care to. They clearly just bash on him because they've never liked him as a character. So here I have a way of expressing my feelings without getting into pointless online arguments that go nowhere lol
It's always nice to know that even if there's a bunch of people who's annoying about this, at least there's other like-minded fans to understand and discuss the character with. :')
