BROTHERS
The river Weser ran between the Roman and Cheruscan forces. Arminius came to the bank and halted with his fellow chieftains:— "Had the Caesar come?" he inquired. On receiving the reply that he was in presence, he asked to be allowed to speak with his brother. That brother, Flavus by name, was serving in the army, a conspicuous figure both from his loyalty and from the loss of an eye through a wound received some few years before during Tiberius' term of command. Leave was granted, and Stertinius took him down to the river. Walking forward, he was greeted by Arminius; who, dismissing his own escort, demanded that the archers posted along our side of the stream should be also withdrawn. When these had retired, he asked his brother, whence the disfigurement of his face? On being told the place and battle, he inquired what reward he had received. Flavus mentioned his increased pay, the chain, the crown, and other military decorations; Arminius scoffed at the cheap rewards of servitude.
They now began to argue from their opposite points of view. Flavus insisted on "Roman greatness, the power of the Caesar; the heavy penalties for the vanquished; the mercy always waiting for him who submitted himself. Even Arminius' wife and child were not treated as enemies." His brother urged "the sacred call of their country; their ancestral liberty; the gods of their German hearths; and their mother, who prayed, with himself, that he would not choose the title of renegade and traitor to his kindred, to the kindred of his wife, to the whole of his race in fact, before that of their liberator." From this point they drifted, little by little, into recriminations; and not even the intervening river would have prevented a duel, had not Stertinius run up and laid a restraining hand on Flavus, who in the fullness of his anger was calling for his weapons and his horse. On the other side Arminius was visible, shouting threats and challenging to battle: for he kept interjecting much in Latin, as he had seen service in the Roman camp as a captain of native auxiliaries.
Tacitus Annals 2.10-11
there's a lot going on in there! Arminius switching to Latin is a detail that always makes me feel a deep kind of sadness, especially with how it's preceded by mention of their mother. I wonder what she thought of what became of her sons, on opposite sides of everything but still, inescapably, brothers. even when they want to kill each other. there sure are a lot of fucked up and unhappy brothers around. and Arminius asking about Flavus' injury............I also had a whole thing typed out about the horror of imperialism and colonization and the trauma of assimilation but I think this sets the tone better
Rome's Greatest Defeat: Massacre in the Teutoburg Forest, Adrian Murdoch
and also this, just for fun
(ibid)
this post is already a mile long, so lets add another mile to it: a little scene at the start of their conversation! tfw you go in for a hug and your younger brother who also ended up being taller starts roasting your hair style

after frontiers.
sonic tries to keep his energy and cyber corruption in check with the help of tails, since it didn't seem to have left him after the final strike against the end. the bracelets around his wrists and legs are built from the fox which should keep it down as good as possible.
but even that isn't enough sometimes.
his tamper became way shorter and he acts more aggressive. i wonder why ...

Omg Simon's part of the Stardew Valley crossover is so wholesome! But ngl I have an angst worm wriggling..
What if our dear farmer toggled the Shrine of Challenge and wanted to test their prowess on their own? Maybe Simon wanted to relax that day but doesn't restrict the farmer from conquering the mines alone. Or maybe he wanted to try out the dangerous mines with the farmer but got caught up with something out of his control and they had to go without him?
Either way, Simon gets worried the farmer hasn't returned at the set time they both agreed on, and he trudges down into the caves only to find his partner (in crime) laying face down and some of their valuable loot lost? They clearly have been bested, and Simon huffs in frustration, both at himself for letting them go alone and at them for not knowing when to bail, as he carries the limp farmer back home to safety.
I'm gonna stop there so this doesn't get super long, but I wanted to share the brainrot ejfjrjfdjsj
- Biscuits 🌺
DUUUUUUDE!!!
He was definitely with the farmer when they discovered the shrine, but they both had so many questions and so little time to do anything about those questions that they just shrugged and left the mines, promising each other that they'd go back soon and figure out what it did. Then they ended up having several days in a row where they were so busy with the farm that neither of them even thought about it until one day when the farmer was paying Marlon a visit to sell some old gear of Simon's. Naturally, the farmer asked Marlon what it was, and got SO excited by his answer that they nearly forgot to sell the gear in their haste to leave and tell Simon about it.
Simon was a little more reserved about the whole thing, but agreed it would be worth experimenting on. Except that he really didn't have the energy or the desire to go see right that minute, but the farmer did. So the farmer decides to go by themselves, with his knowledge and the promise to be home by 11pm that night. It was already 6, they clearly wouldn't be able to be gone for too long, and this was bothering them enough that he knew neither of them would have any peace until they got to the bottom of it (literally and figuratively).
He can't help having this nagging feeling that he should've gone with, though. And after about two hours, he's anxious enough that he can't stand still anymore, and he decides to go check on things only to not be able to find his farmer. He vaguely notices some of the weird stuff in the mine (glowing green ore??), but is so focused on getting to them that none of it even registers, and then he finds the farmer: bloodied, bruised, barely breathing. Their weapon is still locked tightly in their grip, but other than that the farmer show no signs of life, and Simon's heart drops into his stomach at the sight of them like this. (He barely notices the things that spilled out of their pockets and bag when they fell, but when they bring it up afterwards he just tells them that the loot wasn't his priority and they hush up about it.) He's quick to scoop them up into one arm, holding their battered body closely, and practically sprints to Harvey's clinic, desperate to get you fixed up and conscious so he can yell at you for scaring him like that.
The good part? At least Harvey doesn't have to get you evac'd to the nearest city hospital! Just barely though. Still, Simon doesn't let you out of his sight for 2 weeks, and he sure as hell never lets you go to the mines alone again.
~~~~~~~
But like actually what a great concept, like the angst potential is absolutely there and I can see it going sooo many ways more poorly for Simon and his farmer. Thanks for sharing your idea with me!!! (Also sorry it wasn't *more* angsty, I haven't written angst in ages and I'm rusty lol.)
Imagine if Galacta Knight wasn't sealed away because he was evil/too strong. Imagine it was because he couldn't control his strength. He becomes so strong that if he isn't consciously dialing it back he could seriously hurt someone just by trying to give them a high-five.
It gets so bad that after defeating/sealing Void, he begs the Ancients to seal him away because killing one of his species is incredibly hard and dangerous to the people around them, and he doesn't want to hurt anyone. His time spent sealed away puts him in a state of consciousness and unconsciousness where he trains himself to dial back his strength.
Moments when he's taken out of his seal to fight are moments when Galactic Nova is controlling him, because the Clockwork Star knows Galacta Knight would refuse to fight if he had the decision. Unfortunately, Galacta Knight is completely conscious when this happens, and he hates how he feels both distraught because of the situation, and excitement from the thrill of the fight.
Hey there! How have you been doing! Just thought I'd check up on you! Hope you've been doing well! I don't really have much to say, except that you're epic and cool! Since I was sharing some of the ideas I've had today, I wanted to ask you if you'd be willing to do the same? :> You don't have to, but I'm just curious! Also, out of curiosity, have you ever received requests on this blog? :o Not that you have to write them, of course! Either way, I hope you have a nice day! :>
I'm doing well, I just got home and ate some cucumber slices! (and chugged like 2 full bottles of water lmao)
I have a ton of writing ideas rn. Like- I think there are 100+ vague ideas written in my notes app, and at least 30 active wips. I keep switching back and forth between them, chipping away at each one slowly but surely 🫡 (gonna end up finishing all of them at once or smt, idk)
Some of the ones that I've been working on the most are:
Bartender reader x Gaz after a bad breakup (it's gonna end up being like 5 parts if I ever decide to post it, shit goes crazy in that one)
Firefighter Valeria (I finally got it started instead of letting it rot in my head 🙌 I don't even know how many parts that would end up being)
Transmasc cbf Gaz x transmasc reader (really don't know where I'm going with this one)
I also have a handful of platonic and romantic Ghost x reader ficlets floating around, might finish some of those up at some point.
And I know I mentioned a hybrid poly 141 x reader fic a while ago- that one is technically finished, but I'm not happy with it yet so I might go back and revise it
And nah, I've never received requests on this blog. Probably because I haven't posted a ton of my writing + I don't even have a pinned post so my blog is like. Impossible to navigate 💀✋️
I used to take requests on my other blog tho! I stopped after my hyperfixation on cod took over (plus I got like a shit ton of requests in one night and got intimated by it, never looked at them again)
I haven't even deleted the old requests from my inbox even tho some of them are from as far back as September. I have a couple of drafts for some of those, so I'm just holding on to them in case I randomly get motivated to write for those requests again. Probably won't happen, but who knows?
I've definitely written a lot more since I stopped taking requests tbh. Well, on this blog at least. I haven't posted any writing of my own on my main blog since January 😶
Anyways, thanks for talking to me!!! I love chatting with you lovie 💕
This is my time to brainrot about something i made.
What if, by any chance, QSMP people became street racers. What if the eggs were like, their cars or some shit. What if Quackity formed a group of racers to try and win a cash prize of a really famous street race.
What if the Hermits were also in that race. What if the hermits are actually pretty good at this thing called racing. What if they think that the QSMP people were the ones who sabotaged them after their cars turn up completely destroyed.
What if my cubitos interact with my other cubitos and form an alliance to kick ass in the end.
