the thing that is extra crazy about this to me is that. this really is so emblematic of a general optimism around queer rights and in queer communities that lasted from maybe 2013 to honestly even like 2018. like at the time, love was winning. it really did feel like we were making consistent progress in expanding queer rights, visibility, and acceptance. so interesting to look back on tbh
