donatello makes noodle soup

There were some days when Donnie just. Didn't work.
He could have energy and motivation aplenty, could be bursting at the seams with inspiration.
He'd sit down to work, and everything he put to paper would be reduced to eraser smudges within the hour. Half-finished projects piling up in the corners of his lab, to be repurposed for scrap metal later.
It wasn't an inventive block or burn-out. It was his mind grasping for answers and coming up empty.
To his immense frustration, tonight was one of those nights.
Donnie found himself balanced precariously on a stool at the kitchen counter, knees pulled to his plastron. His forehead was laid upon them, eyes scrunched shut, arms limp at his sides.
Oh, ibuprofen, why do you forsake me?
The rain had started up again. While lovely in concept, the smell and the sound and the city lights reflecting off of city pavement, it kind of hurt.
Ow.
Donnie's three-day "pressure" headache had reached its final form, the mother of all migraines. He could thank his lucky stars he didn't get them as bad as Mikey used to, but the point felt moot.
He'd been useless this week, dragging himself around his lab, stealing scattered snatches of sleep here and there.
It didn't help that he wasn't used to their lair yet. Months after the Shredder and the Kraang attack, he didn't feel at home here.
It felt... different. The silence wasn't loud enough.
He didn't like the restlessness. The past few months had been a continual blur of momentum. Rebuilding the lair. Fixing and upgrading his tech. Taking care of Leo. The list was endless.
Yet, he couldn't make his brain work.
Donnie gave a little grumble and let his legs dangle, bending to press his forehead to the cool stone surface of the tile. He turned his face to the side, squinting out at the lit side of the train car.
He should turn off both overhead lights, but he didn't want to injure his shell in a fall. Which was probably just him being paranoid, but–
His eyes caught on the spine of a cookbook peeking out from a stack on the back corner of the stove-side counter. He frowned (or scowled, since he was already frowning). Where had he–?
Noodle soup.
Donnie sat up, blinking. That was... that was the cookbook. With the recipe for noodle soup. His noodle soup.
He hadn't made that in forever.
Donnie stood, influenced by the gravitational pull of memories. He stumbled over to the counter, freeing the book from its dusty prison. He brushed his hand over the cover. This had come to the new lair?
In their first move, when everything was new and raw, it hadn't occurred to him to go looking. Not with everything else on his mind.
He thumbed through the well-loved pages, instinctually flipping open to the recipe. He stared at it, that same diagram embedded in his brain. When had he forgotten?
I'm making this right now, aren't I?
Resigned to the whims of his heart, he set the cookbook down and went to fetch a stockpot.
He didn't need a recipe to make it. The motions were imprinted in memory. But having the cookbook open was part of the process. It would be wrong to make noodle soup without it's "supervision."
He gathered the ingredients first.
It was strange doing so in a new kitchen set up. He turned to the right, looking for a cabinet that wasn't there, and came face to face with the fridge.
He could have grabbed the ingredients he needed (sesame oil, soy sauce, sriracha, and the rest) but it wasn't right. Non-refrigerated items went first.
He turned and rifled through the cabinets. Ground ginger and garlic were easy to find, and the rice vinegar took only a minute of reorienting to find where Mikey stored it.
The rice noodles were more elusive. Mikey kept the noodles in a lower cabinet, but after a few minutes of searching, rice noodles were nowhere to be found.
Donnie considered giving up (no, he would not use another noodle variety, thank you very much) before he remembered glimpsing some in the top of the pantry a few weeks prior.
Searching through it, he was rewarded with a single package of flat rice noodles.
Donnie filled a medium-sized bowl with semi-warm water from the sink and folded the noodles in to soak. He placed a strainer next to them ahead of time, a habit he'd formed after one too many close calls. He'd check back in eight-ish minutes, then two.
in the meantime, he switched the heat to medium-high and set out to gather the rest of his ingredients.
Chicken broth, eggs, cilantro. He skipped the green onions, as he couldn't stand the way they'd stick in his mouth. Everything else was laid out methodically on the stove-side counter for easy reach.
"Instruments of measuring?" he mumbled beneath this breath. "Check."
He measured the oil directly into the stockpot, followed by ground ginger and garlic. He eyeballed the latter, but was exacting with the former. He let the mixture heat for a half-a-minute, withdrawing a cutting board and knife and placing them on the counter.
When he returned, he added the rest of the base: sriracha, broth, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Unlike Raph and Mikey, he valued his taste buds, so he added less sriracha than the recipe demanded.
He turned the heat up, coaxing the broth to a boil. The recipe recommended he add the noodles at this stage, but after many years of perfecting it to his tastes, he'd learned the texture was better if he waited.
As it cooked, he chopped cilantro, breathing in the scent of home.
It reminded him of late nights in the kitchen, when he couldn't sleep or couldn't think or couldn't bear to be alone. The unhurried certainty, moving through motions instinctive to the point of monotony.
For some, the repetition would have dissuaded, driven them away. For Donnie, it was grounding, a long bath in a dark room with a good book. He could get lost, allow his mind to wander, the weight of responsibility slipping from his shoulders.
His head was feeling a little better. Maybe the ibuprofen was kicking in.
When the broth had retreated back to a comfortable simmer, Donnie strained the rice noodles and added them to the pan. He watched, a hint of a smile on his face.
For the next few minutes, he'd put ingredients away. When he returned, it'd be time to finish the dish.
Cooking was an act of care, Donnie reflected. It took time and resources. The art of making something for someone in any craft was an act of care. Making something for your enjoyment alone – it sounded selfish, phrased like that.
Donnie was used to giving himself away. His time, his energy, his motivation – he would give it all, for his family. But when was the last time he had taken back?
It felt like life had been going and going, and then it stopped, leaving him reeling. His wheels were spinning on a nonexistent road.
When was the last time he had stopped? Did he remember how to?
Did any of them?
Donnie had never felt like a child. He'd always been "so mature for his age." Now he wished that he hadn't.
His eyes blurred at the edges. He sniffed, blinking hard.
"Urgh, stupid steam," he announced, to a kitchen of nobody. And then he laughed a little, because who did he have to convince? The cookware?
I'm almost done, anyway.
Donnie retrieved the eggs. With exact precision, he cracked them into a measuring cup and poured them into the soup, one after the other. They floated on top, just starting to white.
He'd let them cook for another four minutes, then add cilantro.
He wondered if the soup would taste just how he remembered. Somehow, he didn't think it would.
He wasn't sure how he felt about that. It wasn't good or bad. It just was.
Donnie shut the cookbook and put it back where he'd found it.

AH! Sorry! I guess it didn't occur to me that some wouldn't know what tone tags were. Here's a full guide from this site!
what is tone?
tone is what a phrase or statement means or comes across as despite what it's actually saying. examples of tone could be serious, joking, lighthearted, etc.
what are tone tags?
tone tags / tone indicators are things you can include with text to indicate what the tone of it is.
why are they used?
some people have difficulty picking up on tone. communicating through text only makes this harder due to lack of audio and physical clues (voice inflection, body language, facial expressions, etc.) tagging what tone you are using can be very helpful for others understanding of what you're saying, clarification, avoiding miscommunications, etc.
when/where should they be used?
they can be used any time or place you may be communicating through text.
do not mock the use of tone tags. you may not need them but some people do. not everyone can tell when something is a joke, etc. just be nice about it.

yes, of course! tone tags are used as a virtual replacement for body language and tone of voice. they’re very popular among autistic people since we often have a hard time identifying sarcasm for example.

Alright fam- consider
(this might sound like a Mikey request at first but its actually supposed to be for Leo lmao)
Male reader(who is preferably a spider yokai but if not that's cool too)
After the boys realize that Mikey would be a mystic warrior they were set on getting him a tutor, after all, he would need guidance to learn without hurting himself!
And so begins their search, of course, they considered Draxum but not only was he brutal and intimidating, but he was also just not very understanding of Mikey's lack of knowledge on mystic stuff.
They search and it seems hopeless for a while, any tutor was either an old gruff that was just unpleasant to be around or just not understanding enough of the boys that didn't grow up in the hidden city and barely had experience beyond their specific powers.
That was until Leo met this guy (reader)! (maybe at a party or something) they got to talking and became pretty close friends! When they realized that Reader was the exact person they needed (young enough to not be too out of touch, stern enough to keep Mikey going and not just goof off too much, yet chill enough to not be intimidating and most importantly very mystically knowledgable and talented) they started setting up some stuff.
The first time reader came into the layer was a bit nerve-wracking but over time things got more comfortable and they ended up even coming over to hang out, reader became closer to all of the turtles, but of course ended up spending the most time with Mikey and Leo, because one was their student and the other their close friend. But at some point, with Mikey needing more lessons because he was advancing so fast Leo kinda felt ignored- which put a strain on Reader and Leo's friendship (and blooming potential QPR) until they sit down with him asking what up
and you know the whole jealousy spiel followed by fluff bla bla bla and it works out for all of them!

Okay, meeting you was a stroke of luck that the turtle brothers never thought they would need
Recently, Mikey made the decision to become a Mystic Warrior, he always has wanted to help people, and with his newly discovered abilities, that mission would be a hell of a lot easier.
But after a few training sessions with Draxum and various other Mystic Warriors, they (especially Mikey) felt distraught, all of the mystic warriors they received training from were old, aggressive and didn't understand the fact that Mikey didn't understand their teachings because of one simple fact.
He wasn't born in the Hidden city and didn't even know of its existence until he was a teen.
They all assumed he would know the History of Mystic Magic, the History of the Hidden City and Yokai-kind
But he didn't
And that pissed them off, badly.
The Turtles met you through Draxum, you used to be his apprentice as a young child before he went on the mutagen craze
Draxum told them that maybe you would be the best option, as you were the youngest Mystic Warrior trainer currently.
They were skeptical, to be honest.
However, after a few training sessions with Mikey, he would come home to the lair gushing about how nice and understanding you were
This piqued his brother's curiosity, his three brothers asked if they could tag along and see their brother in training.
Leo saw you and instantly after you were done with Mikey, he went "omg they're really cool wtf??"
After a couple months, you grew a close friendship with Mikeys brothers, especially Leonardo, he reminded you of when you were in your teen years, Snarky, rebellious, and very emotional, no matter how hard he tried to hide and ignore it.
Once you become friends with all four of them, you end up coming over to the lair, which was nerve-wracking for them
Due to never really hanging out with anyone other than their dad, April, Sunita, Cassandra (later on), and Casey (Also later on) they kind of were wary, even if they see you as a close friend
It's just instinct after the Kraang invasion and years of fighting Humans, Yokai AND Mutants.
Be patient.
After a few times of visiting the Lair, they calm down and even go out of their way to invite you over for events such as game night, the Lair games, Pizza night, etc
after a few weeks of this, you finally exchange phone numbers with Mikey's Brothers.
Leo texts you every day, often spending hours texting him or calling him once you were done training warriors.
You started to look forward to seeing him, often showing more excitement at seeing him that Michelangelo.
Leo also felt similarly, often spending hours talking about you to his brothers (which drives them fucking insane, even Mikey)
Donnie ends up snapping at Leo
"WHY do you keep going ON and ON about them?! WE GET IT, HE'S COOL" he barked out, immediately regretting it as soon as Leo's expression shifted
"*sigh*,,, I'm sorry, Leo, it's just, you've been talking about them for DAYS, do you love them or somethin??"
"As a really close friend, yeah, but not like, a Boyfriend" Leo answered, unsure about what he was saying
Donnie stayed quiet before Leo started speaking again
"I wanna be with them, but not romantically, if that... makes sense?" he mumbled, confused with his emotions
"I would suggest looking up a QPR." Donnie said bluntly
"a wuh" Leo looked at his brother as if the Softshell was speaking an ancient language
Donnie groaned "a QPR, Queer Platonic Relationship, It's like,,, I don't know how to put it, you have a phone, look it up"
Leo slinked off, typing into his phone the words "What is a QPR and how does it work"
A few weeks later, Mikey has already advanced so much that he needs more lessons, more than his hour long two times a week he was on
So, you stopped hanging out with the other turtles as much due to having to spend two hours per session, four times a week with their little brother
Leo, ever the drama queen, was NOT happy, he had finally accepted his,,, platonic crush for you, and now he can't be around you as much!!
After a week or two of you being too busy to hang out with him, he snapped a bit
Rushing over to your apartment in the Hidden City, knocking on the door like a madman until you opened
"LEO IT'S TWO IN THE MORNING, WHAT THE FUCK" You hissed tiredly
"I missed you..." he whined, you sighed and opened the door wider so he could come in
He sat down on your couch as you made tea, fumbling anxiously
Once you had the two cups of tea, you walked into the living room, sitting down beside him.
"What's wrong, I know you missed me, Leo, and I missed you too, but you haven't done this before, are you okay?" you asked softly, setting the tea down on the coffee table, right in front of him.
He shook his head, tears pricking his eyes, making you feel guilty
You decided that the best way to make him feel better was to hug him, you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him close to you
He stayed motionless for a few seconds before hugging you back
After a while he finally works up enough courage to ask, "have you ever heard of a QPR before?" it was quiet, you could barely hear it to be honest
"Yeah, I have, how come you bring this up?" you asked, trying your best to be a comforting rock for the emotional turtle
Once you were done asking, he nuzzled into your neck a little, embarrassed.
It hit you, "Awh, sweetie, did you want to enter one with me?" you chuckled once you felt him nod
You rubbed the back of his head, after a few strokes he started churring, you had a big goofy grin on you
You two had a talk for a few hours over the rules of your new relationship and what you two wanted out of it.
It felt great for you both to finally get everything off your chests
It takes a few weeks before he comes out to his family
Who all took it gracefully, accepting you as part of the family, romantic or platonic, if he saw you the way he did, you're like the son Splinter never had.

Welcome!
Hi there! If you're reading this, you're probably very confused about what's going on, but don't worry. You're in the perfect place to figure things out. This is an online community for people with DID, OSDD, and other mental disorders.
What is DID and OSDD?
At most basic, your body has a disorder that causes multiple identities to form and they must live together in one body. You are here because your brain needed to form you as a way to cope with immense stress or trauma. If you want, you can learn a bit more about it and how it works here: DID and OSDD
You in the System
You are now part of a system, or a group of parts living together in one body. In time, things will get easier and you will be able to work together with these people. For now though, you have as much time as you need to adjust to your new life and surroundings.

Okay okay sooo this is going to be a rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles (or rottmnt 2018) kind of tickle rant post /pos because I got lots to say and no where/one to say it too! You can ignore this if you want to but I promise my next post we will be back to our regularly scheduled program of the glorious Dreamsmp!
Sorta spoilers ahead I guess! I just detailed some scenes and gave the episode it's from!
Also they are brothers everything is platonic thank you and enjoy!

Where do I even start!!
Okay okay! I am going to start off with my boy!!!
Leoo!!:
-Mr Primetime!
-I love him wayyyy to much!
-When I started watching the show a few days ago and I saw him I said "oh no, here we go again another blue character with a great sense of humor, charm and a playful attitude, my one weakness!" And I was RIGHT! He is fantastic! /pos /hj /lh
-IM SO MAD WE GET NO LER!LEO we got Lee!Leo in the show cannon, so I'm not complaining but STILLL the lee in me wants something! A few crumbs is all /hj /pos /nsrs
-He's such a bratty switch I swear! I can never tell what side he's leaning more towards by the end of it, he's just smack dab in the middle and I love it!
-HE IS SUCH A TEASE I- ASDFJKNXNLXML
-I headcannon that he loves making people laugh and hearing them laugh because of one of his one liners or something he did just makes him all warm and happy inside, although he would never admit that, so tickling is a perfect win in his books especially when it comes to his brothers/the people he cares about the most
-Leo is absolutely 1000% the type to not only tickle someone just for the fun of it but he is also GREAT at cheer up tickles!
-He is everyone's personal hype man! So his cheer up tickles, most of the time, he can adapt lol, are a one way train ticket to compliment ville! Woop woop! All aboard people! Captain Leo coming through! /lh /pos
-He's a squirmy lee as we've seen in the 'Mystic Library' Season 1 episode 20, his giggles are all over the place and just so amazing! He quite literally loses all control of his body so tickle him with caution! And he will always get revenge so be prepared to run! And good luck!
-Whenever he does get tickled it's most of the time Donnie being the ler. Or Raph but yeah, With the siblings bond they share it's bound to be him most of the time if not all of the time! Donnie gets some much needed Revenge time and Leo gets tickled, It's a win win regardless!
-He will always provoke, never EVER will he ask for it, unless raph tells him to say it or else he won't get tickled, but other than that he refuses to admit it! Especially not to Donnie!
-Have I mentioned how teasy he is! I can't stress that enough!
-Also he 100000% uses puns/jokes in his tickling as a part of his teasing and or provoking but yeah it's simply Leo!
-He also has/can do that teasy voice where a person can soften/lower their voice and drag out syllables and just AH! (Okay okay I'll stop I just ahhh leoo!!! *clears throat* anyway! /lh /pos)
-OH one last thing! He absolutely uses his portals to tickle people, he's used it to scratch his own back the possibilities are endless, he has definitely tickled people that way!
Donnie!!:
-Bootyyyshaker9000!!
-I have A LOT! to say about Donnie so strap in people!!! Here we go!
-Imma start off with Ler!Donnie because I haven't seen many talks/thoughts on it! And I have a lott! to say!
-SO! Starting off with what we know, Donnie is the tech man of course but in the one tickle scene from 'Many Unhappy Returns' Season 2 episode 2! HE HAS A TICKLE MECHINE JUST ON DECK TOO! Sorta its a feather attached to his bo staff but he just HAS IT UMM HELLO! /pos That was so awesome! He's so a ler lean! Like ah! Amazing!
-this is the other thing on my mind BUT! In Season 1 episode 5 when splinter steals the tank and he goes "Oh Papa if you surrender now! There Shan't be any consequences!" THAT FELT SO LER CODED! like that whole scene gave me such ler vibes/energy!! You can't tell me after hearing that that the bros have hid from him before and he's tickled them out of it! Also Splinter saying "I am not taking the fall for this, purple is a monster!" Uh yeah a huge tickle monster who should never be messed with, do not underestimate bootyyyshaker9000 that's the lesson of the day!
-Mikey is his favorite to tickle, you would think it would be Leo But it's really Mikey! I could talk for hours about the bond those two share but I'll keep it down for now!
-He absolutely (other than the one we saw) Absolutely has invented more tickle tech things! Honestly an adorable thought to go with this headcannon is that he's made something like that for Mikey, like a peice of amor that only activates when Mikeys being silly or something (Like the Donnies gifts episode) and it just tickles him before he even understands what's happening
-He's a genius! You mix a smart guy and a ler in one! Boom Tickle Tech!
-He absolutely made more too after that battle seeing as how effective it was against the enemy, he keeps it in his battle shell now cause' you never know when you might need to use it!
-He will absolutely use tickles to cheat in video games too! Anything to be #1!
-Also his Nicknames for everyone!
-Donnie is just so amazing!
-Now Lee!Donnie! I've seen a lot and I agree with most of it! So here's what I'm adding! He's Lee moods are rare but the only person he feels comfortable with going too when a lee mood does set in is Mikey! Little by little He's slowly warming up to everybody but it's just perfect!
-Lee!Donnie to me, what I picture at least is just giggle city! He doesn't squirm much/at all but he's just full of giggles! If you hit the jackpot though it's loud, genuine and amazing! Go Donnie!
-PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR AND SAY YOU'RE PROUD OF HIM! Compliment him! Especially in the middle of tickling him he will GLOW!
-He absolutely has a ticklish shell
-I feel like he wouldn't want it touched/isn't comfortable with that but he gives you the go ahead I think that is the jackpot
-He's so amazing!
Raph!!:
-HE'S LIKE A BIG OL' TEDDY BEAR!
-Deserves more attention I swear!
-This man cannonically has Autophobia (The fear of being alone) and I think that just adds an extra layer to him but also lee!Raph
-With this being Cannon I feel like one of the ways the boys would snap him out of his crazy state is to tickle him and remind him that they are here and that they are never going anywhere and that he's not alone and I just think it's so cute!
-Another thing with this to me is if they are ever playing hide and seek (with or without the tickle twist) he has to hide with someone every time if he's not seeking
-Because of his oldest brother role and overall strength he doesn't get tickled as often he's normally the one doing the tickling but I really feel like he enjoys tickles, give him some, He deserves them! He's doing great!
-Random thought but I feel like the spikes he can grow on his shell are really ticklish!
-His brothers have all absolutely tickled him to calm his emotions when things start getting out of control
-OH and Donnie has absolutely tickled him until he actually came up with a plan, Donnie said it was "training" it technically was but he also used it as an excuse to tickle him
-Now Ler!Raph! Oooo boy!
-He has absolutely used his mystic forms hands to tickle people! (Like Leo and his portals!) I think he did in the 'Many Unhappy Returns' tickle scene I don't remember but still!
-He's so gentle when he tickles most people (Leo is the exception, and bad guys of course!) He doesn't want to accidentally hurt anyone but he's also just a more gentle guy! We love him so much!
-His tickles are a bit all over the place too as well as his teases because he's not good with plan making and teases in general but he'll always leave you giggling and sometimes your face reder than his bandanna
-He just loves making people happy so tickling people is just a total win in his books!
-Such a sweetheart AH! Just don't make him mad! Haha!

Mikey!!:
-Dr Delicate Touch
-Starting off with that! "Dr Delicate Touch" as we know, there is nothing Delicate about it! Haha! But as my Segway he ABSOLUTELY has used that name before tickling others It's their equivalent of the "Tickle monster" Like to his brothers (*Cough* Donnie *Cough*) He would say something like "Uh ohhh I think someone needs a visit from Dr Delicate Touch" and then proceeds to tickle them
-A lot of people see him as a lee! And I agree! He is very Lee coded being the youngest and everything, just by the way he acts! But I see him more as a Lee-Lean rather than just a full Lee
-My reason for this is because in the "Many Unhappy Returns" episode when the tickle scene happened he was the first one to call it out the whole "We found a tickle spot!" Bit and he seemed really happy about it so I think he does enjoy being ler but because of the way he is he's more of a lee
-Mikey is so fun as a Ler! His tickles are fast and all over the place but in an organized way if that makes any sense at all
-He's the type to point out little things the lee is doing and tease like that but in different voices
-He'll play different characters or put on new voices when he's tickling someone just to keep it interesting and upbeat
-Oh and he's absolutely used a paintbrush to tickle someone, art is his thing! He's gotta have done it once!
-Very vocal teases
-Now as a Lee! Ohoho boy!
-He has been targeted by everyone so there is no set Ler for him but he would argue that it's Donnie!
-He's got the loudest laugh out of them all, Leo is a close second, but his laugh is also all over the place when he's tickled, he can go from big loud laughs to sweet honey giggles! Either way he is a walking tickle spot!
-He gets tickled for everything, Here's how the list goes, When he's doing something reckless and someone needs to stop him it's Raph on the case! He outright just provokes Leo and For Donnie it's for comfort
-He absolutely has hidden in his shell to make the tickles stop or to just get his ler mad but either way it's always a giggle fest when that happens and it takes every ounce of teasing in the Ler's arsenal to get him out of his shell
-We've all collectively agreed that his death spot is his underarms right? Fantastic yes! /pos
-He got a taste of his own medicine once with being tickled by a paint brush and he absolutely lost it he can't handle his own medicine!
-Physical teases get him the most though, stuff like stopping mid way through and then starting up again or those fake attacks where they look like they're going to tickle you and then stop just inches before they reach your tickle spots, and just slower tickles in general he can't handle that!
