gale, waterdeep & coinage
just musings on gale's means as well as waterdeep lore bc i love waterdeep:
Tumblr media
Gale: Believe it or not, but I witnessed a similar standoff back at the Yawning Portal. Of course, an establishment like that invites all sorts of outlandish entertainments. Player: What's the Yawning Portal Gale: An inn in Waterdeep. Never a dull moment there. Adventurers come from all over Faerûn to try their luck down the well: Leads into the Undermountain, you see - full of death, danger, and vast amounts of treasure. Hard to resist. Player: What was the standoff about? Gale: Oh, a drow, a dragonborn, and a cleric of Cyric walk into a bar. Your standard fare. Maybe someone was cheating at cards, maybe it was some weird lovers' quarrel. In any case, out came the crossbow, and a hush fell over the entire room.devnote Player: What happened next? Gale: I stood up and yelled: 'Shadowdark ale for everyone!' The crowd cheered, the tension drained into five dozen tankards, and soon all was well again. Gale: In a place like the Yawning Portal, the most powerful magic is calling for a round of drinks. Gale: Mind you, all I did was call for ale, but you went and stood in front of that crossbow. I'd drink to that.
i will definitely take a look at the yawning portal itself at a later date (as well as other points of interest within the city) bc it's very interesting as a focal point in waterdhavian history and society.
while we can only speculate about what gale's background in terms of means, wealth and standing looked like since things like tutors and even maids were not uncommon in waterdhavian society, it is interesting to note that he - whatever his personal means at the time this event took place - felt the need to defuse the brewing fight with 'five dozen tankards'.
we do actually know how much one such tankard costs at the yawning portal:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[source]
17cp x 60 = 1020cp
this was interesting to me in terms of this meant in actual terms of coinage and wealth and money spent.
here's an overview of waterdeep's various coins:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
source: volo's waterdeep enchiridion
gale spent over a 1000 nibs/copper pieces that evening (or more than one sun/platinum coin) to de-escalate a potentially lethal fight.
to put that into perspective, i'm adding this reference of prices here:
Tumblr media
source: volo's waterdeep enchiridion
gale also attended blackstaff academy, with elminster as his mentor. the academy had costs attached with it:
Acceptance to the Academy was predicated on either demonstrating extraordinary magical aptitude (those who could not cast arcane spells were very rarely admitted) or having a particularly compelling personal history. Joining the Academy was free, however monthly dues were required to continue attendance. These fees started at 10 gp per month and increased as a student gained seniority and required more advanced tutelage. In addition, it was a requirement that any new spell that was discovered or researched by an apprentice had to be added to Blackstaff Tower's library. [source]
ten gold pieces per month as fees, although with gale being elminster's mentee, he may have chosen to assist gale and morena partially or fully with any costs that blackstaff academy may have charged.
it does sound, however his childhood may have looked like with a presumably absent father and a mother with her hands full with a young genius, able to conjure rabbits as a babe, summoning a tressym, a magma mephit who set a room on fire, as well as casting a level 3 spell (fireball) at age 8 or younger, that gale at least during the height of his career as a wizard, lived comfortably.
ending this with more food for thought and a banter between gale and karlach:
Tumblr media
Gale: They say wealth offers a form of magic. Alas, it's one I've rarely dabbled in. Karlach: Nor I. Never had more than a few coppers in the city, and any soul coins in Avernus went straight to Zariel. Gale: Make no mistake. Souls are sold for coins up here as well. All too cheaply, in most cases.

HI EJDBJEBJ pls pls can u do a banda sunato imagine?
where he meets reader at the jack of hearts game and he fell in love at first sight and he was not expecting it because he's a serial killer and there he sees reader (doesnt need to be fem) and like gad damn hi why did i just meet u today. and he swears to like,, protect the reader.
bonus ig is that reader is close to chishiya
I change a few things from the episode but hopefully, it still makes sense lol and Banda is ooc. Also, it's funny seeing the likes go up for my Arisu fic since the second season was released.
I made this gn but if you see any gendered language please tell me so I can correct it!
Tumblr media
YN trailed behind Chishiya as they entered the prison where the Jack of Hearts game was being held. After being separated from the rest of the group, the two of them were trying to get back to them whilst entering the face card games.
Well, YN was focused on getting back to the group whilst Chishiya took his sweet time, eagerly seeking out the blimps that flew over Tokyo.
His eyes lit up when he realised that they were near the Jack of Hearts game, and though he says he was not suited for them, YN believed that Chishiya was intelligent to the point he could adapt to all of the card types, except maybe Spades but he would figure a way out for that too as he did with the Tag game.
If it wasn’t for the fact that their visa was going to expire soon, YN would be sitting outside of the prison waiting for Chishiya to return but unfortunately, the borderlands were cruel so here they were putting their life on the line yet again.
They slipped the collars on as instructed and made their way into the guard room where about ten people were waiting and judging from the table of collars by the entrance, it was going to be a high-number player game.
Chishiya found a shadowed alcove where he could see the entrance and everyone else who was already there. YN took their place next to him and together they waited for the rest of the players to join.
Eventually, the last player joined and the tension and fear in the room amplified as the screen in the room lit up and the automated voice rattled through the speakers and everyone’s attention was directed to it.
“Difficulty, Jack of Hearts.”
“Game, Prison Cell”
┆彡
Banda stepped into the guardroom and set his gaze upon the other players in the guardroom. Some nervously avoided eye contact, others squared their shoulders and made themselves bigger as others hid in the shadows.
Nothing unusual, he noted. After all, they were all forced to participate in these death games but some adapted better than others. Some people thrived and dominated the games whilst others simply rode on their coattails, surviving off the backs of others.
Banda turned his attention back to the screen, listening to the instructions as they were explained.
“Rules. Guess the suit that appears on the back of your collar. However, you cannot see your own suit. The time limit per round is one hour. Five minutes before the time is up enter one of the prison cells and guess what your own suit is. If you do not guess your suit correctly, the game is over for you. When time runs out, your collar will explode and you will die. In addition, your suit will change at every round.”
People fiddled with their collars, twisting and turning but their design made it impossible.
“But we just need to have someone tell us what it is, right? That'll be easy” A young man excitedly exclaims on the other side of the room, bringing Banda’s attention to him and consequently to YN as they move out of the shadows when the man next to them responds.
“I wouldn't be so sure. They haven't told us how to clear the game.”
Banda pays no attention to the voice as it finishes explaining the rules as he was hooked on the mysterious person on the opposite side of the room.
He was down bad and they hadn’t even shared a word.
┆彡
YN watched as everyone started to team up but distrust was thick in the air. Reality has settled in, it would be hard to clear this game and most will die as distrust and backstabbing fester.
The young man in what YN thought was quite an adorable set-up of a yellow t-shirt and dungarees, turns to them “Hey, let’s tell each other”
“If you want to survive, you need to observe everyone here very closely. You need to remember everyone who doesn’t lie. Besides, I could be the Jack of Hearts myself…”
YN tunes out Chishiya, their gaze focused on the man who is steadily approaching them from the other side of the room. He was cute, with a sweet smile and broad shoulders.
His eyes are only on YN and as he stops in front of them, it pulls Chishiya from his conversation but he remains silent as he watches on.
“Do you want to partner up?” The man asked eagerly, “We’re stronger in pairs.”
Chishiya makes a noise of amusement which causes the man's eyes to flicker over to him.
“...Unless you’ve already partnered up” The man glared slightly at Chishiya
“No, no… we can all group up.” YN quickly spoke up, trying to diffuse the tension between the two men. Chishiya had the ability to piss anyone and everyone off, including YN several times.
When the man looked back over at YN, they introduced themselves, holding out a hand that the man eagerly shook and introduced himself.
“Banda.” He smiles, “Banda Sunato”
YN returns his smile and twists around, showing him the back of their collar, “Do you mind telling me mine?”
Banda steps closer to look at the collar before gently tugging YN back around to face him. The physical contact was unneeded but YN didn’t mind. In fact, they kind of liked it.
“Club.”
YN tells him and Chishiya’s theirs before they have to go into the cells to call out their suit.
There are no deaths this round and everyone breathes a sigh of relief as they step out of their cells.
Immediately Banda makes their way over to YN with a smile, not wanting to be separated from them for longer than he has to.
Chishiya watches as they head to the food room, racking his brain, trying to remember where he remembers the name Banda Sunato from.
┆彡
“You know, I wonder how long this will last”
The words of the man next to Banda catch YN’s attention, so they listen in on their conversation.
“Either the Jack will start killing people, or someone who’s afraid they’ll be killed will start killing others. Until one of those things happens, this will never end.” Banda explains.
“That’s exactly right.” Chishiya jumps in.
“As long as we’re all telling each other, we’ll be fine.” The man in the yellow shirt, Ippei, tries to look on the brighter side of things.
YN gives him a sympathetic smile, “I wouldn’t be so sure.”
Their conversation is interrupted by shouting and a young man being shoved to the floor. Everybody turns to watch as a bald man shouts at the frightened younger man to tell him his suit.
YN tries to move forward to help him but is stopped by Chishiya who shakes his head at them, motioning to what Banda was currently doing.
When YN hears the muffled explosion and thump that echoes through the prison at the end of the round, they realise what Banda had done.
┆彡
Banda watches as YN snacks on a packet of cookies, finding everything they do utterly endearing and adorable.
“You know…” He begins to speak, catching YN’s attention, “I would never betray you. I’ll protect you.”
He takes YN’s hand in his, holding it tightly but their moment is interrupted by the arrival of Chishiya.
“Eyy, for all we know you can be the jack of hearts.”
Banda glares at Chishiya. So does YN. Trust him to stir up shit.
“So could you.”
Chishiya points at YN, “They can vouch for me”
Banda looks over to YN who rolls their eyes and nods, “I’ve had the misfortune of knowing Chishiya since I came to the borderlands. He’s not the Jack. Neither am I, by the way.”
Banda quickly shook his head, “I would have never thought that.”
YN saw Chishiya make a face from the corner of their eye but ignored him.
YN didn’t tell Banda that they knew he kickstarted the series of deaths in this game either.
┆彡
Players were dropping like flies. Backing stabbing and fear had crumbled groups until there were only seven of them left.
Ippei couldn’t take it, the game had broken him and as YN watched him sob on the floor as Chishiya tried to comfort him, they felt bad for him. They understood how these death games took everything from you and if you manage to survive one, you barely have enough time to recuperate before you’re forced to join another lest you want your visa to run out.
When YN heard the muffled explosion at the end of the hour, they knew Ippei chose death.
Banda approached YN, seeing how upset they were about Ippei, bringing them into a hug and comforting them.
“He’s at peace now.”
YN nodded and snuggled further into his hold, melting into his warmth. YN had needed that hug desperately, the last one they had was with Kuina at The Beach which felt like a lifetime ago.
YN took a backseat role for the next round, Chishiya told them their suit and vice versa. Watching as he planned something with Banda and Yaba but did not get involved as they laid a trap for Matsushita, the Jack of Hearts.
After the trap fell in place, YN watched as Yaba dragged Matsushita into an empty cell as Banda made his way over to where they were standing and Chishiya made himself scarce, giving them a moment of privacy.
Banda cups YN’s cheek in his hand, “I think this is where we part but we will meet again. I promise you that.”
YN nodded, placing their hand over the one that rested on their cheek, “We will. I know it.”
Banda gave them a rare smile before leaning down and pressing a soft kiss on YN’s cheek before he let them go and walked back to the cell Yaba was holding Matsushita in.
As YN and Chishiya left the prison, the blimp above it exploded, signalling the Jack of Hearts had been defeated.
YN cast a worried look back at the prison as they walked further away which Chishiya rolled his eyes at when he noticed.
“You know he is a serial killer right?” Chishiya told them still walking away, “ He’ll be fine”
YN did a double take at his words, “A what?”
“Serial killer. Killed four women”
YN gaped at the back of Chishiya’s head before chasing after him, “Why didn’t you tell me this before?”
Chishiya looked behind him and picked up his pace at the sight of YN’s mad face gaining ground on him, “I thought you knew! I thought he told you!”
┆彡
One week later, YN sat outside the supreme court waiting for Chishiya as he played the King of Diamonds game when they heard a voice call out to them.
“Waiting for someone?”
YN looked up and couldn’t help the smile that spread on their face,
“Banda!”

i assigned schools to the main cloutchase cast
MY TRUTH (additional info and other picks):
tumblr - death: He’s maybe the only one who would pick the emo school and also it’s probably the best school in the game. It can heal, stack, do damage, has decent HP, there’s nothing they can’t do. Although typically considered a support class, death wizards are very capable on their own. Tumblr would be the type to take the best class and handle himself. He might also be one of the only people in the main cast who knows anything about the game currently, and picked Death because of this.
twitter - storm: Twitter doesn’t really care that much about wizard101. He picked storm because it’s the strongest, but quickly found out that he can’t survive in a fight. I chose this because storm players are toxic and can be rude when they don’t get any support or if someone plays in-optimally, which I imagine Twitter would do. He might be trying to be a min-maxxer first time getting into it.
amino - myth: Whether amino knows anything about the game or not, they would deliberately pick the goofiest class which would be myth. You summon silly monsters as your gimmick. On that note, Amino would also pick the moon school and transform into a gobbler to fart on enemies. I think like 0.1% of players picked moon (my brother is one of them). My other reasoning for this pick is that nobody plays myth, so Amino would play it. Sure it isn’t a support class, but people actually play support while fire and storm are both considered better at hitting than myth.
discord - life: Discord is a people pleaser, and wouldn’t even come to the spiral unless one of his friends convinced him to. Because of this, he would be a support class to help them. Life is the only class that specializes in healing, which is similar to other games he might play. It’s more versatile than Balance because healing can be useful for anyone of any class while blades are only good for stacking. Death could be an interesting pick as it’s literally self sacrificial, but it’s healing is not as good. Life can learn the necessary support skills from Balance and Death while Balance and Death cannot learn life’s best healing spells or use them well. Life players are considered nice people who think for others and not themselves.
tiktok - fire/ice: So, I know there was a resurgence of this game on TikTok a while ago but I don’t actually think she knows much about the meta. This is based on nostalgia, so many kids actually specced into a secondary school, usually life. I personally was a fire student who spent training points on Storm as well as Life to cover my disadvantage and heal. As you can imagine this is a complete waste of points once you get to higher levels. I had the wooly mammoth card that i could only cast if i had max pips which was basically useless, but I did it anyway. That is TikTok. Except she is Ice school with a fire secondary. She might have life up to satyr, too. I could’ve picked another dual type but I think fire/ice suit her best.
insta - fire OR… death?!: Instagram is someone who can and will do everything by herself. I thought about giving her death for solo pve because of this, but I don’t think that’s her style at all. Instead I gave her fire because out of the three hitter classes, it’s the most neutral one. It’s balanced, and it’s not a support school, meaning she would be playing a leadership role. Fire is pretty good for solo pve if I do say so myself!!! I think fire suits her as a determined person as well.
twitch - storm OR ice: As a certified Gamer(tm) Twitch actually does know how to min-max the game and not be a little bitch about it. I mean sure she can get just a LITTLE toxic, but she would never fault other players for mistakes. Now I did say that death is the best all arounder, but storm hits the hardest and can sweep a match in one round the fastest, making it the min-max pick. I thought of this just now, but Twitch would have a second wizard that is ice for pvp. Ice is considered good in pvp for being an absolute tank and that’s kinda the main strat. I don’t play it so i wouldn’t know personally tho.
youtube - fire: Unlike Insta, YouTube picks fire because he’s a blaze firehammer type. Like many niches of YouTube, w101 is one that he never really looked into until maybe more recently with the TikTok resurgence and some other popular YouTubers diving into it. He probably thinks fire is cool and lively like him, and as a hitter school would always wanna show off his variety of cool spells even if they weren’t that good (me using Krampus Lol). He would’ve farmed Loremaster before the lame crafting update :/ and used any Loremaster spell even if it wasn’t his class. YouTube would pick the moon school for this reason too LMAO. He might have a storm or life secondary.
ao3 - ice: Ice has the highest HP in the game and like I said before, is the tank class. In a typical high stakes battle, Ice goes in first to taunt the enemies and draw attacks towards them, protecting their hitters and supports. Ao3 would be a protective type, and he’s pretty used to defending his library already. Even though ice is broken in pvp allegedly, Ao3 would only engage if it were to protect someone’s honor (or his own) lol.
wiki - balance: Of course wikipedia would pick the one literally called “balance”. It has no weaknesses and is not strong against any other school. Although it can hit sort of alright, the cards they get are kind of bad, as they need a lot of pips to cast anything decent. This may be because they specialize in blading, which boosts attacks and passes turns. They also have a little healing, so this combined makes them a support class. Wikipedia is not really a leader, even if we push him into that position, and would rather pick a supporting class instead. Similarly, balance can be pushed into the hitter position with a little setup.

Grandia Launching for PS4 & PS5 Next Week
Noisy Pixel Source
Tumblr media
Game Arts has announced that the classic PlayStation 1 and Sega Saturn JRPG, Grandia, will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 21, 2023, at 11 AM ET/ 8 AM PT.
No pricing has been announced, but the title has been confirmed to be part of PlayStation Plus’ November Game Catalog for Premium tier subscribers. It’s also worth noting that this upcoming release just seems to be a port with enhancements and isn’t the HD re-release seen on Nintendo Switch and PC.
Additionally, while not yet confirmed, this PSN release of Grandia will likely feature trophy support when considering other original PlayStation 1 ports.
Grandia tells the story of Justin, who is out exploring the ruins of an Angelou Civilization. Upon arriving, he is requested to travel east and find out the secret of why this ancient civilization disappeared. The game was developed by Game Arts, the developer of the Lunar series, and features a turn-based battle system and classic RPG storytelling. Players can anticipate over 80 hours of gameplay, 80 magic spells and techniques, and over 200 weapons and items.
Grandia HD Collection on Nintendo Switch features enhanced visuals and fully supports the hybrid system. In addition, this collection on Switch includes both Grandia HD Remaster and Grandia II HD Remaster.
Grandia HD Remaster includes exclusive Steam cards and achievements, along with widescreen support and customizable resolutions. Players will also be able to remap the controls on the keyboard and gamepad.
In case you missed it, check out our review of the collection on Nintendo Switch.

Some random non rankup-specific mechanic ideas i've had for FGO:
Staggered: Lower-grade immobilize debuff, like a weaker stun. Reduces an enemy's per-turn-actions by 1 for as long as they have it. If inflicted on a allied servant, one of their command cards dealt that turn will be unusable
Turmoil: Chance to inflict NP Seal every turn.
Despair: Chance to inflict NP Seal and Skill Seal every turn.
Enrapture: Chance to charm each turn (Dispels early if the unit that inflicted it leaves the field)
Make lethal damage qualify for activating "if Instant Kill is successful" effects
Unique Imperial Privilege: All servants with imperial privilege have core and unique effects to make up for the per-chance nature. They will always have the Attack-Defense-Heal at somewhere between 60-80% chance to activate, but after that have a huge variety of effects with chances as low as 20% that have effects specific to what kind of ruler they were in life.
--- Also just ffs if you're gonna have random chance activation dont make it so the effects have absurdly high scaling make it so there's just a fckton of them that's like the basics of balancing RNG in RPGs, through quantity over quality.
Stop being so coy about NP Damage Resist the cat's outta the bag you idiots we all saw you give it to KP, now make better use of it because enemy NP damage has only become more bullshit as time has gone on.
Delay-until-use buffs: Like instead of having a set number of evade charges, you gain evade for 1 turn the next time you are hit before damage. Basically the opposite end of things, where you have the flexibility of using it early but you don't have the ability to also to spread it out over multiple turns.
NP Transformation: Under certain conditions such as being afflicted with a specific debuff(s) or having a certain level of overcharge, a servant's NP becomes a completely different one, not just a different color. EX: if Cu is solo with overcharge, his NP switches from Gae Bolg to Riastrad
And on that note, just Skills that different/additional effects when solo in general. You don't even normally have multiple servants in a grail war give us more tools to have awesome solo situations, they shouldnt exist purely because of massive oversights in how certain skills like guts work or how certain servants' overall kits ended up.
Special Target Focus: Trait-specific target focus, much like Special ATK and DEF skills.
Make Instant Death Resist affect the damage dealt by Instant-Kill NPs as well since it literally cannot proc on bosses
"Apply to Master": Buffs that are not reliant on any one unit continuing to be on the field. So long as you the player are there it remains active for its intended duration. Would be unusable during special story fights where Ritsuka (and any possible substitute such as a crypter) is not present in canon.
Put in more class advantage manipulation. This isn't a specific idea i'm just fcking tired of having to so heavily group servants by class. Why is Roland the only Paladin who's realistically a good teammate for Charlie. If not this, then at least you could add the next thing
Pair Up/Mounts: We have at least a couple dozen "best friends/lovers" pairs of servants, 2 centaurs, multiple dogs one of which straight up has a rider infused with it, and what is literally the horse of an already existing servant. You would think there'd be some sort of inherent bonus for fielding relevant duos together but no, you can field Red Hare and their master together and there's no synergy whatsoever. Bullshit. Give us an inherent Riding mechanic or make certain automatic buffs based on fielded units standard. You can save the game-changing stuff for things like Jason having a dedicated kit for it (even though he actually doesnt and that one skill isn't enough on its own but that's a whole other matter) but ffs I should not have trouble using Red Hare and Lu Bu together, or have to rely on the summer variant of Akuta to get her to work well with Xiang Yu
Just let us pick our turn 1 cards already or at least add a fcking shuffle option instead of making people burn AP and sit through the same fcking intros and loading screens over and over for CQs and major boss fights over pure RNG.

The Double life children, small headcanons
Guys…..I grew attached
And this is what happens when I grow attached to Characters that has little to no pre established character (See The Barduil fam, Knox), I think about them a lot and then I talk about it here.
Anyways, the AU is essentially that in addition to the dl gang sharing lives, they also share a child that just showed up one day unprompted, here’s the link to the post
But yeah, here’s some additional things about the babs, enjoy
Also, tell me who’s ur favorite, I wanna know. Personally I really like Johnny and Liana, but I’m curious about what others think
Liana is younger than everyone else, as while they all popped in a few month old, she was still just an unhatched egg. She’s bullied for this
Jassy has naturally striking white hair, but she dyed a streak in it green to have something in common with Joel
The full moon’s take a lot out of Gertrude, leaving her exhausted both days before and after. She was completely feral during the first few, leaving Ren to help keep her away from everyone so no one is hurt. They both have a lot of scars from this
Novo got too close to Weretrude once, giving him a big ol nasty scar on his forearm. He takes a weird sense of pride in it
Jekiv is completely enamored with death and corpses. He likes to study zombies and skeletons, see what differs them from each other and from other players. When they’ve perished, he takes parts from them, like teeth or brain matter, and keeps them as decorations. Sometimes he makes jewelry out of it, which clashes weirdly with his bright pastel clothing
A part of Novo’s fucked up mental state comes from how both of his parents tortured each other, sometimes in front of him. It sorta messes up your mind to see your dad nearly freeze to death in front of you, or see your mom’s shoulder form an open stab wound, especially when you’re just a few years old
On a lighter note than all of that previous shit, Johnny absolutely fucking loves goats. The ranch goats are his buddies, all of them have names, and he’s very protective of them. If anyone would dare to try and trick them into loosing a horn, they’d be faced with the ‘Tek wrath’, as his pa Jimmy had dubbed it
As a kid, Liana spent a lot of time trying to fly, injuring herself multiple times doing so. It was first until she was six that Grian broke the news that she’d likely never be able to fly, as her wings were too small to carry her. Liana ran away at the news, upset at her dad, and ended up at Martyn’s place who looked after her for a few days until she was ready to see her dad again. Grian almost had a heart attack multiple times during those days
Jassy Naruto runs. She’s also allergic to onions. Just putting that out there
Martyn had almost no involvement in raising Jekiv. He was like a dad who walked out to get milk and never came back, except he lived not too far from there, so it was kinda awkward. Jekiv reject everything to do with his dad, even small things like refusing to dress in green and hiding his blonde hair, just so he has no affiliation to him.
Wes is a total cuddle bug. Like I’ve said before, the guy has a lot on anxiety, but just relaxing and holding something softly helps him immensely. Jekiv is more than happy to assist with this
Despite not having a last name, Liana has almost ten middle names. This is because the only way Grian could compromise and get his way with the name, was if Scar chose the middle name. He went a little overboard. Liana’s full name is Liana Sharina Ace Xelqua Sage Aurelia Francesca Octavia Jellie Monroe. She absolutely loathes it, because it can’t fit cleanly on any business card
Pearl didn’t have much custody of Novo, just every other week, but when she did and had to do something then Tilly was Novo’s babysitter. The lad absolutely loves the dog, even if she’s old by now, and she was always very gentle with him as a kid
Scar tried to do something similar with Liana and the Jellies, but they’re a lot more lazy and negligent, plus Liana is a tiny bit allergic so it was not a good idea. Like many things regarding his daughter, this nearly gave poor Grian a heart attack
Johnny has a flame bite. What I mean by this is that whatever he bites gets a serious burn, almost second degree if he bites hard enough. This was discovered when he was roughhousing with Gertrude, and accidentally bit her. She still has the burn scar on her arm
Speaking of dog gal, she runs on four legs! Well, only when she really gotta go fast, but yeah she a doggo! She’s extremely fast too, even beats Etho and Jassy’s Naruto running
Wes was bit by one of his dads horses as a kid, and has been afraid of them ever since. Has never brought this up with them though, as he doesn’t want to seem silly over a stupid fear
Jassy used to steal Etho’s mask all the time as a bab. Sometimes she’d wear it (despite it being way too large for her) and sometimes she’d just nom on it. Etho absolutely adores his daughter and everything she does, so he’d let her do so without any qualms (This was the reason behind some people seeing Etho’s face for the first time). Joel was usually the one who took the mask back, because he’s fully immune to his daughter’s puppy eyes (He’s not, he’s just stronger)
While Liana is a brilliant businessman and a total silver tongue, it does help during her deals to have Jassy (Badass ninja gal with a cold steeled gaze) standing behind her, sharpening her blade.
Novo has a very weird Frankenstein of an accent, mixing together Scott’s Scottish and Pearl’s Australian. This makes him sometimes incomprehensible, even to his parents. This paired with Johnny’s mysterious country accent that just came out of nowhere made them very good friends as children
Despite Johnny being part demon and Wes being part Imp, aka different species, the two are very similar to each other in terms of physical attributes regarding their species. They both got horns, a tail, sharp fangs, and unnaturally colored eyes. Johnny has a bit more fire imagery going on that Wes, but despite that the two are similar af. They quarrel about this often, fighting over who has better and sturdier horns, who’s tail is stronger and can lift more, who can kill down the best using just teeth and claws, etc. It’s a dumb friendly rivalry they both enjoy
Liana spends a lot of time styling her hair, trying to make it all prom and proper like a true business man. This effort is all futile however, as she inherited Grian’s extremely fluffy hair, and it will all just puff up within twenty minutes no matter how much hair gel Liana puts in it
And now, on a less light note, the deaths
Major tw warning for the shit being written here, it will be describing pretty gruesome deaths in close detail, so be warned
Johnny was the first to go. He was sitting down by the salmon river with Jekiv, fishing, when it happened. His chest was penetrated by a long sharp object, taking the breath away from his lungs as his mouth filled with a thick metallic liquid. Jekiv could only stare on in shock as Johnny choked to death on his own blood, the open wound on his chest lined with faint purple. It was first when he opened chat and saw the death messages, that Jimmy had been slain, that the death was explained. He knew that he needed to get the information to everyone else, that their lives was directly tied to their children’s lives, and he needed to give them that information fast. Too bad he wasn’t fast enough
Gertrude was with Novo when it happened to her. The two were on the way up Pearl’s tower, joking between themselves, when a sharp pain struck Gertrude’s head. She was so shocked by the sudden pain that she let go off the ladder, falling down to the ground with Novo screaming out her name. Gertrude was dead before she hit the ground, her skull pierced open and blood dripping down her face. Her iconic sunglasses that she never took off laid beside her, cracked. Her mouth was hung open in a silent scream, pleading for mercy of the pain that would only hit her in death. Novo cried over her body, confused over what had happened. His mother found him an hour later, and had to physically drag him away
Realistically you’d think that after the death of two children, the people would calm down with the killing. And yeah, two couples do! The yellow lives are rational, they know that both theirs and everyone else’s children are in danger, and that the killing would help nobody. The red lives on the other hand crave blood. The crave violence and gore and death. Their minds barely register that the kids could be in danger, all they are set on is killing off the yellows and killing them as fast as they can.
Liana was by herself when she died. She was watching over the remaining Jellies, scratching their furry faces and trying to keep them in the area of red velvet keep when her head suddenly feels like it explodes. Her ears are hurting so bad they start to bleed, and her eyes bulge out of her skull as the roaring pain stop her from doing anything apart from writhing in pain. The loud noise eventually rips a hole in her eardrums, ruptures her lungs, and leaves her lifeless corpse to bleed out, the Jellies nudging with their little noses, trying to wake her up
Jassy was in the newly constructed fort tower when her death occurred. She was with Wes, still mourning Liana’s death when her dads left for the Nether. It should’ve been a safe journey, they were both highly skilled if not a bit chaotic, so she didn’t expect anything to go astray. That was, until her arm suddenly started burning in a way it never had before. Johnny’s bites hurt a lot, but it paled in comparison to what she felt in that moment. And the feeling didn’t stop, instead it spread up her arm, and formed on her leg, and her back, and everywhere. She didn’t notice she was actually on fire until Wes screamed, the flames coming into her vision when she looked up at him. She screamed out for him, for her dads, for Impulse and BDubs who were standing not too far away frozen in fear, but the burning didn’t stop. Her skin melted off, and bones turned to ash, her whelps of pain becoming strange gargles as the flames ate her up. When she finally grew silent, left behind was only a burnt corpse, doomed to end just the way everything in her father’s path did.
Wes, newly traumatized by witnessing his friend’s death, stuck to his dads after the passing of Boat Boys. The three were left alone on their team to fend off against two separate families, one of which containing two fully unhinged individuals, so it was a bit frightening to walk around. Of course they were attacked, but Wes’ death was quick and easy. BDubs was stabbed by Pearl, accidentally taking Impulse down with him, and Wes died close to his family, almost painless.
Jekiv on the other hand…..After witnessing Johnny’s death just a bit earlier, Jekiv was a fucking wreck. He looked like his step brother Novo, the way he was twitching and staring out into nothing for hours on end. His parents tried to stay out of the killings, hiding in the deep dark while Jekiv was tucked away in Scott and Cleo’s secret bunker, but when they turned red it was hard to resist the temptations. Martyn carelessly went after Pearl, aiming to finally get a victory in one of the seasons and to prove the Watcher’s wrong, but the dogs were too much for him. Jekiv could feel the wolf army, the offsprings of that fucking dog that Pearl always took everywhere, start to nip and bite away on his rotting skin. Chunks of it disappeared in large bites, and he screamed out for help, help that couldn’t come. The feeling of being eaten alive was slightly numbed by the fact that as a zombie he was unable to feel everything, but even with that in mind it was absolutely horrifying for him, and incredibly painful. He could feel the dogs tear his arms off, bite away at his inner organs, rip off his skin, and all he could do was cry. He was eventually saved from a very slow and painful death by Cleo’s fall, which instantly broke all three of their necks.
And then there were only one. Novo had stayed hidden at the base of Pearl’s tower through most of the red siege, staring at the place where Gertrude had died. Her body had been taken away to be buried with her fathers by box, but there was still some blood and bone splinters left in the grass. He stared at chat, letting out a dry sob each time a death message hit, knowing that his friends went with them. Liana, the only one who could keep up with his crazy nature, and always followed along when he had an idea. Jassy, with her infinite patience and wonderfully dumb puns. Wes, who would carry Novo away from any form of danger he put himself into, acting like the caring and loving mother he never had. Jekiv, his brother, the only person Novo considered family, despite that he absolutely loathed him. All of them, gone. Novo left the tower when his father told his mother to meet at spawn. He walked past Tilly on the way there, his caretaker, the best listener when he needed to cry. His parents were both at spawn, staring each other down. Talking. Novo couldn’t hear them, his ears were still ringing from all the explosions that had gone off earlier. He was too far away to see their facial expressions. He tried to call for them, but either they didn’t hear him or they simply ignored him. Nothing new. It was first when his father placed tnt by his feet that Novo really started to panic, picking up the pace to run to them both, stopping whatever madness that was happening between them. He couldn’t. His father screamed something, his mother called out for him. Novo just wailed, as the explosion finished him off, quick and easy.
And then they were gone. Seven lonely souls, all created through forged bonds between people who were made for death, made to kill for entertainment. The fourteen would all move on after the season, build their bases, create their empires, compete in their tournaments. They would forget about the things that transpired on that server, their friendships would reforge and they would all move on with their lives. And seven more stars would be added to the eternal night sky, seven stars who in the big scheme of things were nothing, but in the moment were everything. Seven stars made to be remembered, but doomed to be forgotten.
It got poetic there at the end lol. If you made it here, hi glad to have ya.
I genuinely love these seven dumb ocs, they make no sense and idk how they work but they’re lovely. I might write something about them at some point
If you would be wondering how old these guys all I have absolutely zero idea. In my mind they’re pretty old, like early twenties, and idk if that means that Double life went on for twenty years or these babies just age quickly. Probably the second one tbh.
But yeah, hope you enjoyed this, I certainly did I love writing gore and cool deaths. Don’t forget to tell me who the fave is, because I’m curious, and have a great day!

Imagine Brachi being the gentle graceful giant to contrast Player's gremliness. Despite their immense height in full size, they practiced so much that the risk of accidentally stepping on someone like Four is low even in a chaotic battle. Also I can see the Chain using the Brachiosaurus' head as a sniper rest and just fire arrows from above especially Wild. Plus Four would hop on the fella's head to shout 'How's the weather down there?!' if someone calls him short.
Small size, I see Brachi sleeping in a random Link's bag. Player finds it both cute and funny. They do it to all members of the Chain but no one knows who'll get the scaly fellow next. Just open the flap and get a surprised dinosaur kiss to the cheek.
Also Brachi's appearance would cause utter chaos in Calm(Calamity)'s era more than in Wild's. Like they just got over a recent apocalypse with less destruction and casualties so a group of strangers looking for the hero already got suspicion. When the small lizard with those strangers cak become a flood summoning beast? Whoo boy.
On an unrelated note, Legend would absolutely hate being near the T. Rex in any form. Since said dino is the ancestor to chickens so he probably having a heart attack from the thought alone. More considering T.rex is a Fire Element and one card attack is breathing fire.
Tumblr media
Tall Dino go brrrrrrr- Just little Brachi stomping about after the Chain, sating at bushes and such, they're a great added addition and I feel Epona loves them.
Feel she's a little intimidated when she sees their giant size but still great companions- Brachi gently running their face against her.

D&D Character: Caerrak
Tumblr media
Just felt like putting together a little thing for the characters I’m currently in a homebrew campaign with. This is my primary.
Homebrew element of note here that I can actually mention are his age because elves and half-elves age differently from normal D&D here. Half-elves reach physical and mental maturity in equivalent years to their mother race. So a half-elf with a human mother reaches maturity at human rates but half-elves with an elven mother do so like an elf though their total longevity remains the same regardless.
Aside Note: The DMs preference in play-style that PCs are “people of extraordinary talent” so players are allowed to either be a jack-of-all-trades type (average or above average in all stats but nothing 18 or higher) or a master-of-one type (allowing one stat to be 18-20 at the sacrifice of another stat).
Appearance: Caerrak is a young male half elf. He stands at 5′ 8″ with a lithe build. He has shiny deep black hair that gains a subtle iridescence very much akin to crow feathers in direct light. It has a very fine silky texture and always has an untamed quality that gives it a permanently messy appearance. His eyes look like they belong on a bird instead of a man in the shape of the iris and pupil. They are also heterochromatic, with one eye being a bright robins egg blue and the other a deep black. His pointed ears are pierced several times each though he doesn’t often have the patience to wear jewelry in all of them. Caerrak wears a lot of clothing dyed in various colors of blue under a long jerkin made of animal hide dyed almost black. Long black feathers have been sewn into the jerkin around the shoulders and across the back.
Backstory: Caerrak was marked at birth as being god blessed because of the appearance of his eyes, a feature that had long been a symbol of favor from his home regions patron deity. Despite being told this his entire life Caerrak lived most of his life showing none of the supposed abilities those around him claimed he should have. As a child he would argue this fact but was so often ignored that he eventually gave up and simply learned to fake it. He began learning various ways to fake the miracles he was meant to perform, learning to throw his voice, mimic sounds, and perform various sleight of hand tricks. In addition he became very proficient at telling fortunes through the use of cards and using basic alchemy to cure various ills. Both real and perceived (or suggested).
Then...one day...it all changed. Magic he had formerly faked became real spells and he could lay out his cards and actually understand them, and what they told him was the truth...and it wasn’t good.
Personality: Caerrak is very kind at heart, and while he can lie, con, and steal without batting an eyelash...he does his best not to harm those who seem undeserving. On the flip side...he absolutely can’t stand those who choose to be hateful or cruel without reason as well as general rudeness. He particularly loves cheating those who meet these criteria...even if the end result doesn’t lead to much gain. He can be a bit greedy and has a hard time turning down opportunities that could lead to making himself money...though he will just as eagerly spend or give that money away. His joy seems to be in the making or taking of it...and not so much the need for it in general. He is prone to making decisions on a whim and rarely takes into account possible consequences, even in dangerous circumstances.
A fun extra: These are Caerrak’s dice sets and some cards from his tarot deck which doubles as his divine focus. The clear dice have UV activated glowing sparkles and the darker set are blue galaxy dice.

DnD Session Update!
First Update | Previous Update
Xehara’s player wasn’t able to make it, BUT it was a good opportunity to showcase potential side effects of the items the players reaped from the vault of the previous temple.
As they continued to search the temple of the Elk God, they were able to learn a few things:
Sigurd Helvega is the name of the High Priest of this temple, and the seals and signatures used for the temple match the seals and signatures from a pile of letters they stole from Sigurd in the first session. This also confirms for them Sigurd is at least 500 years old as of the destruction of this temple.
They search around and collect a few small things, looting the cabinets and treasure. Ivan stole an elk robe pin from a corpse. Tahir the Jackal started stealing bones from the corpses.
They returned to the central foyer and looted the pockets of a corpse. It had a small ledger with short hand names and numbers. They were able to discern this was more like a log book of movement and rooms, indicating priests’ quarters in addition to being a collection of time cards. They couldn’t figure out the short hand but they did assume correctly that Sigurd must have a room here. They also found a flask in his pocket. It was pretty, silver with gold embossed leaves and a round lid top. Sniffing it they found it was just straight alcohol.
They entered a gold filigree gate into the Sanctuary, where two ground doors flanked a statue of the Elk god, a pair of stairs flanked the statue with two more doors, and a final upstairs door on the right balcony. They went into the left ground door. This was a large office area with one big wooden desk overgrown with vines and leaves from a broken window on the left side, a smaller pair of desks on the right, a door in the far right corner on the right wall, a door straight ahead, but otherwise nothing of particular more besides more boring paperwork and some statues.
They checked the right wall door, it led directly into the room on the other side of the deer statue. Nothing of particular note, it was another office space but with more small desks, indicating the room they were just in was likely the High Priest’s. Both offices had a door on the north wall.
They wanted to enter the one from the high priest office assuming (correctly) it could be Sigurd’s. It was locked however and the only door they’ve encountered so far with handles. Everything else were simple swinging doors. All doors at this point has been described as being decorated with organic leaf filigree but this one has the image of a deer indicating it’s greater importance. Tork thought the lacquered door was too pretty to tear down. He rolled very high to knock the handle off the door rather cleanly and opened it that way.
It was a large master bedroom, an ornate canopy bed lay on the left hand wall in front of a beautiful stained glass window. A wardrobe directly north, two large and well worn trunks on the right hand wall, three paintings on the wall above the trunks, and the wall where the door they came from had two more paintings. There was a large, round bowl about 35 inches in diameter full of a waxy substance. Above it was a beautifully ornate candle Chandelier with some stalactites of wax that had dripped down over time.
Do you know how long it took out of character them to realize the bowl-table was for catching candle wax. Do you. It was laughable. We did in fact laugh about it.
Anyway, Tahir looked at the middle painting on the right wall. It was labeled “Sigurd Helvega” but it was tipped to shreds, impossible to piece together. He could tell it was once a portrait but that’s all.
Ivan tried Detect Magic. Nothing besides their own equipment gave off magic. Tork looked at the two paintings in the south wall. They were portraits of the swordsman and archer from the pre ious temple, but with first and last names different from what the plaques at the previous temple had. Razvra Zhiat, and Asa Heilung. He looked at the other two paintings near “the beauty and the beast” painting (what they dubbed sigurds torn portrait). The angel from the temple was a portrait there, named Eloise Starsguard, and a landscape impressionist painting of a meadow with a village.
They all thought Sigurd was arrogant for putting his portrait not only with sacred hero-gods, but his was even slightly larger than theirs. Oh, so close….
Ivan looked in the wardrobe. It was plain, but had three sets of clothes left in the bulk. Two priest robes, one with a tippet embroidered with a pair of elk - he took the tippet as a collector of religious iconography. A third set of clothing that looked more like light armor, or traveling clothes, embroidered with some elk symbology. He discerned it was probably a special pilgrimage outfit.
On the other half of the wardrobe he found a long sword with an ornate scabbard, a short bow, and ten arrows in a quiver. There was an empty slot for a staff.
The drawers were disheveled as if they were taken from in a hurry. More letters buried in them, as if trying to be hidden. He took the letters but didn’t examine them yet.
Tahir took the bow and arrows. Ivan took the sword.
Tahir wanted to check out the bed, see if there was anything hidden. He rolled a 1. He noticed the bed was a very nice quality, extremely soft down with silk sheets and down pillows. He got distracted by how nice it was sitting on it.
Tork checked out the trunks but they both locked, each having a keyhole. He asked Hank the Haoma to look around. Hank sniffed around and came to the bed Tahir was just chilling on, admiring the thread count.
Tork got mad at Tahir for not looking around. He flipped the bed over so hard the key flung somewhere in the room. They did Eventually find the key and opened the chests. One was a trunk full of healers supplies. Mostly empty or rotten herbs, but a great many and well protected glass vials, beakers, tubes, distillation tools and other things they couldn’t perfectly place but obvious it was a healer and/or alchemists large travel kit. The other had documents. They found three land deeds, each with star charts for each season to be able to find the locations, and crude drawings of landmarks to find them. Several more letters, mostly clothes, this was likely used for actual travel.
They collected the deeds to look at later. They exited and went back to the sanctuary with the elk statue. They went upstairs to the right door flanking the elk. It was a large mostly empty room, four pillars and the walls on either side had stairs like staggers as if for sitting or standing. A thin door to the immediate right. Directly in front was an altar space with used candles and old braziers. The altar had the image of the elk god in human form.
They opened the door and found it was a simple closet. It had incense, candles, two extra braziers, a few statues, and a small barrel. Ivan popped the top cork and discovered it was wine. Everyone had a swig. They took two sets of 50ft rope and shoved it in their bag of holding.
They went to the matching left door upstairs and discovered a replica of the same room, but it was different. The altar was toppled over and the statue of the elk god’s deer form was broken in pieces. There were large streaks of something dark coming from the altar place. Ivan detected no magic, but could smell it wasn’t blood. Tahir was going to lick it, but rolled a nat20 for perception. Before locking it he could smell the stench of old rot, and decided it wasn’t worth risking his health.
Tork assumed it was the black blight they’ve encountered before.
In this room, Xehara started clutching his throat. Ivan noticed the necklace Xehara got from the vault was reacting and while previously it had dropped binational Magic attached to it, it now had necromancy attached yo it before Xehara passed out. Tork swaddled him and carried him on his chest.
They left the room for the final door on the upper level right wall. It was another office, but it was completely ripped apart. However, what set it apart from all the others was that there was no external damage, not from broken stones or trees like the others, this was destroyed by someone looking for something. They pieced together it wasn’t just some random looters; things of value were still there. Whoever did this was looking for something specific.
Ivan detected magic from a large bell that had been cut from its rope, detecting abjuración but very faintly. He discerned with arcana and religion that it was likely a protective magic that when rung would protect the area or its people, and discerned it likely only had one final ring left by the way its magic was so faded in his vision.
He tried to pick it up by himself, nat 1’ing a strength check. He toppled over and the bell rang, releasing a magic, protective aura around all of them. Tork shook his head and called Ivan an idiot, lifting the bell like it was nothing with one hand. He kept the bell.
Outside, they plotted together their findings.
Tork knows how to read astronomy maps and star charts and was able to figure out the previous temple where the elk god’s corpse was is the general location of one of the deeds in Sigurd’s name. The three statues in that place, the swordsman, archer, and angel were portraits in his room. There was also a statue of Sigurd himself at that temple.
He asked Ivan about the Godkiller. Ivan recited the legend (here). Tork thinks Sigurd has something to do with the Godkiller but isn’t sure how exactly they connect.
The previous temple also had a pentagram lock with five crystal keys corresponding to locations on the world map via a riddle referencing the first pantheon’s origin myth. He matched the three deeds to the general locations to three of the keys, one of which is where Ivan came from. Ivan’s home city has a holy catacomb dedicated to an angel, a demon, and an alchemist who are said to have created the first vampires with alchemy. He can’t quite figure out the connection beyond that.
The dead god temple had statues of a female angel, Sigurd, a male swordsman, and a female archer. Ivan knows for a fact they share the angel as part of their pantheon but the descriptions of the demon and alchemist vary too widely to connect them to the swordsman or Sigurd, let alone the archer woman isn’t part of his pantheon at all.
Tork thinks the black blight is connected somehow to Sigurd, and Sigurd somehow to the Godkiller. Sigurd owns property near three locations of the five crystal keys. Two are confirmed to be temples. The Godkiller is associated with necromancy, vampires, the color teal, herbalism, and alchemy.
I think that’s everything. Tork’s player took a lot of notes so I’ll double check with what I confirmed for him and update when necessary.

I've been gently rotating Ralsei in my mind for the last 14 months, and I finally have a theory about how he knows the things he knows, specifically about the Player and the geography of the light world.
It's pretty simple: Kris told him.
Now I know some of you may be thinking "Oh the old 'Ralsei is a lightner theory'" but no, I don't think that's right. How he doesn't turn to stone in the Card Kingdom and Cyber World remains a Fluffy Boy Mystery. Also I hope he's not Asriel because I make Kris flirt with him at every opportunity. I think Kris told him that stuff when they opened Castle Town's fountain in the supply closet.
Now, why do I think Kris opened that fountain in addition to the Cyber World and TV fountains? Let's look at their broader plan. If we take the hints about Dess being missing but not conclusively dead, including of course findher.mp3, to mean that Kris is trying to save Dess from the dark world, then I think it's fair to assume that the Cyber World fountain was opened specifically to get Noelle into the Dark World.
We can retroactively apply this motivation to Castle Town's fountain by noting that it almost worked; Noelle volunteered to get chalk for Alphys as Kris knew she would, but Alphys just bundled Susie and Kris out the door instead. This original version of the plan has the added benefit that Berdly is not involved in it.
Kris had both motive and means to open Castle Town's fountain and steal Alphys's chalk at the same time.
While we're on the subject, we should consider how empty Castle Town is in chapter 1. This suggests that there was nothing (or only one thing) in the supply closet to become darkners which further suggests that someone emptied the closet on purpose. Did Kris open the fountain then seal it, empty the closet, and reopen it? Was Ralsei in on that plan?
This model raises another couple questions: How much of Kris's plan does Ralsei know about? How much of it is Ralsei on board with? Is the prophecy real or is it just something Ralsei came up with to play along with Kris? Why did Kris open the Card Kingdom's fountain?
I think the first two questions are probably what Kris and Ralsei discuss when Ralsei sends us away. "So that's why, OK, Kris?" sounds like he's trying to convince them of something. If we assume the prophecy is real, then it follows that he'd be trying to convince them to stop opening fountains.
I have a couple ideas for the Card Kingdom's fountain. It could be that Ralsei explained that a "Roaring Knight" would open fountains, and Kris said, "oh good idea". Alternatively, they may have wanted an adventure built into the chalk run to get Noelle invested in Dark World exploration.
So yeah, that's how I think Ralsei knows more than he should and what I've extrapolated from that conclusion. Let me know what you think.

Theorizing
After much discussion on how to improve the lore of the story, we have given four of the characters named so far their Classpects. In addition, we have added two new Aspects, Aura and Morb.
The "Players"
Tony is the Bard of Aura. My Extended Zodiac gave me the Time aspect, and the events in Act 2 Part 3 imply that Tony is trying to "destroy" the doomed timeline where Tony and Clubs die, so we originally went with "Prince of Time" for his classpect. (Now that I think about it, the timeline isn't really doomed since Tony isn't a Time player...) However, after changing the aspect to the more fitting Aura, Bard was found to be a much more suitable Class.
Tony does not directly control the Aura; it simply emanates from him. This mirrors how Gamzee has purple lightning, representing his aspect of Rage, when he goes berserk mode. Tony also does not really bother to stop the aura: despite it emanating from him, implying that he is immune to it, he does not bother to leave his house after seeing it is surrounded by aura, and only gives advice to Clubs over the phone. Given this, his status as protagonist against the Gecs is unclear, again following the wildcard nature of the Bard.
Clubs is the Witch of Heart. This one isn't as based on the text as Tony's aspect; it was simply chosen out of convenience for what we are planning for the next update to Act 2 (spoiler alert: Dead Tony asks Dead Clubs to telepathically communicated with Alive Clubs and tell them not to go to JFK Airport). Nevertheless, we did make some connections:
The Heart is, according to the MSPA Wiki, "emotions and intuition, and may also be associated with motivations and inclinations to do things." Clubs isn't shown actually planning their escape; rather, it is Remy and Roman.
The Heart also "may also have something to do with feelings, including feelings of attraction" - Clubs is told by Tony that they must auspiticize the Baracks and the Gecs.
Lastly, like the Clubs, the Heart is a house in playing cards.
Witches are known to violate their aspects: Jade, Witch of Space, violates the rules of spacetime regularly, while Feferi, Witch of Life, created an afterlife via dream bubbles thus breaking the rules of life. A Witch of Heart would be able to transcend the metaphysical barrier of life and death and establish interpersonal connection with the alive (from the afterlife).
Barack Obama is the Knight of Morb. It was stated early on that Obama woke up from a deep slumber in order to protect against a worthy threat against America (the Gecs); thus, the Class of Knight would be most suitable for him. (We also considered if he was an Heir.) His aspect, though, was very much unclear... until we chose Morb for reasons I will lay out below. As the Knight of Morb, Obama weaponizes Morb - the will of the people - to fight back against the Gecs.
Lastly, Barack Care is the Page of Space. Care is stated to have been created in a lab (not necessarily an ectobiology lab, note that!) to assist Barack Obama, thus he cannot be an active class. The supportive Page is what we consider him to be. Meanwhile, he is shown to teleport to and from Mauritius, making him an obvious Space player.
What In The World Is Aura And Morb?
Now, let's get into the two new aspects we added.
Aura represents control, onesidedness and partisanship. It is shown emanating from one man (Tony) and used by the few (the Gecs) to control the many (America). Ironically enough, it is uncontrollable; one could say that, as an allegory for power, aura corrupts those who use it, turning them into crazed despots. Tony isn't affected though because 1) he is its user and 2) never actually uses it directly anyways, as a Bard. Weird, I know, but just roll with it.
Morb represents the will of the people and democracy, as the antithesis to Aura. I chose the name "Morb" simply because Morbius was banned by the Gecs, leading to Tony and Clubs being killed just for mentioning it; also, because, well, Morbius Sweep. You could also make the connection that since Obama isn't President anymore, his return could be considered coming back from the dead - vampirism.

Charcherry Weekly - Issue 180
Hello everyone, Mage of Light Nick Card here. Somehow, I think we're gonna be alright. Don't ask me how, but there's gotta be something.
Jojo's Bizarre Park Secret
Rather recently, somebody new showed up in Unity Village. His name is Pane Stainglass and he is apparently a stand user, as well as a relatively obscure member of the lost pawns. Reportedly, his stand, 「Living on a Prayer」, continuously heals him and can allow him to heal others by contact, direct or tangential. After shaking his hand, your dear newsletter writer's back felt less sore than before and my finger no longer has a paper cut, so that seems to confirm it. He also has a hisuian Zorua that's often seen perched on his shoulder. For the time being, Pane is staying in town, assisting at the pokemon center when needed. Apparently, he had recently went on a special mission with Maid of Void Skitis to investigate The Park, which had been found suspicious of containing a dungeon core underneath it, due to an odd battery draining pattern observed at The Park's recently completed train station.
Skitis and Pane managed to uncover a great deal of evidence during their investigation.
First of all, there is indeed a dungeon core located under the park. Reportedly it operates on a pulse cycle, draining once per hour for a brief moment. Apparently it was not shut down because it had analog controls, and the team did not have the expertise to deactivate it safely, with record numbers of visitors up above in the park proper.
Secondly, there is an ectobiology lab there, which had apparently been used to try and clone a variety of legendary pokemon, without results however. Labels on the vats included "Mewtwo", "Genesect", "Kubfu", "Type: Null", and "Ori. One", reportedly also labeled "failure".
Thirdly, the poke armor department has a set of armor that appears to have been crafted (at high quality) for a certain pokegod to wear.
Other findings include a gold pokeball meant for holographic pokemon (possibly mirage pokemon, like in that special episode that came with the Lucario pokemon movie on dvd?), reports on various methods of pokemon empowerment, including mega stones, dynamaxing, terastalyzation, and other things. oddly enough, there was also research regarding digimon mixed in there too, as well as one or two books on caring for pokemon.
Skitis and Pane were able to narrowly escape, aided by diversionary tactics, courtesy of Rogue of Heart Charles.
Later that night, there was a commotion in town due to a certain well dressed prosecutor pulling up with LOUD RAP MUSIC FROM HIS FANCY SPACE SPORTSCAR THING. I should ask at town hall if there's any ordinances regarding loud music at night while in the village. Regardless, Lightyears Edgeworth was in town to pick up a sample of ectoslime that was obtained by Pane during the mission, to be examined by "a guy", whoever that might be. It is unknown how long this will take, but I figure it'll take until at least monday.
Reportedly Pane was seen practically hyperventilating after that short meeting.
A few days later, your dear newsletter writer finally actually met Pane at the library. He handed me a list of captchalogue codes to be alchemized, apparently having no grist to his name, despite apparently being a godtiered player of the game. Regardless, I thanked him for the codes and alchemized the results myself. Fortunately it wasn't too expensive to alchemize the full set. It turned out to be a great big stack of books and hardbound research notes that had been seen at the The Park. Having sorted through it myself, it looks like most of these books cover subjects regarding pokemon types and energy, as well as different methods of pokemon empowerment. There's also some papers involving the kind of digimon that Charles is afraid of accidentally leading his own digimon into digivolving to, though not much headway had been put into that. In addition, some books on pokemon care that will likely come in handy for the average visitors to the library.
Roughly a day after that, Rogue of Heart Charles, having last been seen sabotaging the technological integrations of the haunted house at The Park, was found at the Door Platform, having been brought into the pokeball shaped enclosure by a group of Space Forme shedinja, who had reportedly found charles floating in space, somewhere between the moons, possibly too close to a hatellite (hat satellite). Page of Rage Jovin was lead to the scene to pick Charles up from the location. Your dear newsletter writer directed Jovin towards the pokemon center, since I knew that Charles would not take getting stuck at the hospital well. Fortunately, Pane was available for healing services there, and was able to heal Charles of all injuries, though reportedly they still had a slight numbness left over from all those zap cannon attacks.
After pouring over the evidence and research, I felt that there was someone I had to ask questions to: Little Beepo. The curious little mech-vee that's been researching with me at the library for at least a few months now. Knowing that they had been working with Jojo before, I had to ask them if they knew what he was trying to do. The answers I got involved seemingly aspirational elevator pitches, though with limited communication methods, little beepo had to stack books to communicate complex ideas. What managed to come across though, was the idea that the frog-universe Gene is sick in some manner, and that the mech-vees went out into the field for better data to seek answers on this.
From what it seems, the answer they sought seems to reside in the divine, as Little Beepo and a number of nearby mech-vees proceeded to build a complex book sculpture that appeared to look like The Original One. The books used to build the divine effigy however, were quite varied. The legs were made of books about the concepts of time and space, people and emotions, pokemon and the nature of reality. The body was built out of a number of creation myths, including homestuck, but also more traditional ones. However, the head was made of a pokemon book, a book about souls, a book about a soul stealing machine, and a book about soul stealing and combining.
Corroborating from this, and what Skitis had told the group, it has become plainly clear:
Jo-baddie Rogue of Heart Jojo is trying to summon a hologram version of Arceus, potentially do some sort of heinous hearty thing, put the original one in custom armor, possibly even combine with Them, and then use Their Power to remake the entire universe in his image, which would destroy Everything and Everyone in Gene in the process. Which is to say, this is the kind of shit that Ex-galactic Cyrus was trying to do, but at a higher scale.
That being said, even if Jojo does fail, it still won't bode well for anyone in this universe. Knowing even what happened to Mage of Life Blaze and the world she was sent to, its easy to see just how bad things could get, even for a best case scenario.
Regardless, it is mine and my sibling's opinion that something ought to be done about Jojo and his plans to rip the universe a new one, but unfortunately, the only particular action that can be taken at this time is to avoid The Park. Any other specific actions that can be taken at this time are unknown.
A Terrible Fate avoided...?
Earlier this week, a figure with the most unnecessarily long chumhandle showed up in the memo, referred to as "BEARER OF THE WORD 'KILL', WEAPON FROM BEYOND THE EDGE, REAPER OF POSSIBILITY, OBSERVER OF BIRDS", or simply poob. They had stated that they are under contract to end the dungeon crashers, most likely in a highly fatal manner. A date and time was set for this stressful moment, but somehow it never came to pass. I do wonder if a doomed timeline had been avoided recently, considering a full party wipe would definitely be a doomed timeline.
Further investigation needed.
In other news however, on the 11th, the Korosian capital was filled with bustle as the Grand University of Time's Bounty officially opened, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and everything! Korosian President Heir of Time Thoren Emit was there personally, and gave a lengthy speech which was broadcasted on Korogov. They spoke a lot about how knowledge from Korous's past is what allowed it to rise from the ashes, and that to continue its growth, the knowledge must be shared and built upon. That being said, residents of korous who plan on going into various career fields on-planet will have the lowest tuition, with financial aid offered to those in need. Exchange students from off-world and beyond will also be accepted, but with higher tuition, though there will be scholarships made available. Classes are set to start in February.
As a reminder, the pink and red lines both stop at the korosian capital, making for easy travel there, in addition to the extensive transportalizer system across all current settlements.
This week’s known market stands in Desertia Town:
Katie’s potion stand (Not available to plitlanders due to regulations, available to all others however)
shinyjiggly pokesnacks stand (ran by Rufus)
korosian sun-strength sunglasses
Exp candy stand
plastic slot machine pencil sharpener stand
Utility Footwear stand: - Skates, ice (1 gp) - Boots, fire-resistant (20 gp) - Boots, softpaw (25 gp) - Snowshoes (5 gp) - Skis (5 gp)
I think that covers about everything. Who exactly is Pane? What is going on with Thoren lately? Why do so many alchemized computers have a HCF (Halt and Catch Fire) operation? Maybe not all of these have answers worth looking into, but maybe there will be more answers next week. For now, I have more drawing to do.

Binding of Isaac Character overviev part 3: Cain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Depending on how often you use shop, cain might be insanely fast to get, or really hard when you spend all your money, his difference in looks from isaac, comes from his eyepatch that bleeds in tainted form, which to me always resembled pirate, And he always felt like really strong character, while he doesnt really have strong items.
Cains Gameplay is that of DESTINY or rather, lack of it. After killing his brother he had to make own destiny and became symbol of greed, he is wanderer. All this is reflected in his gameplay, as he uses alternative win conditions such as pills and machines.
Cain is of course refference to biblical cain, who in act of envy killed his younger brother abel (who is also an item), first human born and already fiirst murderer huh. Althought neither his gameplay nor items, reseble that of actual cain from bible, having no biblical Curse Of Cain, that whenever someone hurt cain, would deal damage back 7 folds, and no reminder of him being farmer (tho after killing abel, he was no more able to grow anything so i guess that checks out). He is also called the first murdered, creator of greed etc.
cains tarrot card is: X Wheel of fortune
Cain
Unlock: Have 55 or more coins at once
starting items:
-Lucky Foot
-Paper clip (after donating 68 coins to donation machine)
-key
Important stats:
-1.2 damage modifier, which puts his starting dmg to 4.2
-1.3 speed
Cain is interesting character to play, especially to newer player who doesnt yet have characters like azazel or d6 on issac unlocked, because untill you learn how stats and items work, you dont really know what cain does! But as less advanced player, i always knew for sure, that somehow he is much stronger character! It is of course atributed to lucky foot and higher base damage mod and speed, which allow him to dodge easier, kill faster, and lucky foot allowing for additional win conditions, since pills are always positive or neutral and machines paying off more often. This allows Cain to get much higher stats than others even with medium items, even when player does things basically by random. Althought his lack of clarity on what he does, makes him get forgotten by player fast.
Strong items:
Cain being Jack of all trades as he is, doesnt really have much good items, only really notable ones are Birthright, to get more and better arcades, paired with money generation like deeppockets and humbling bundle or PHD for more coins from bloodbanks, And items like echo chamber to make most use of always positive pills.
Strategies:
Cain being the Jack of all trades dont really have actual strategies, except for eating every single pill and playing machines as much as possible, if this can give some benefits and pay beggars as much as possible for more items.
Tho it should be noted, that because his starting 2 health, he is much better to go angels instead of devil deals, which synergises because beggars paying out with item give angel deal chances!
Tainted Cain
Tainted cain Takes the DESTINY aspect to 11, stripping him from one, because he cant pick up items, and has to create his own win condition, where cain does this by gambling and drugs, T Cain like expert scavenger creates own items from scrap (pickups) he finds along the way, quite nicely fitting in his biblical representation of wanderer and symbol of greed.
He does this by using his handy friend, bag of crafting, combining 8 pickups lets him create item, which rarity and item pool depends on pickups, so golden key helps make much better items than key, and sacred heart adds +10%chance for item to be from angel item pool
Also by touching item on ground, buying one from devil/shop or crafting active item while already having one, will cause the item to burst into random pickups, with additional pickups depending on room, for example bone hearts when in secret room
Good items:
-Pickup generators: As T Cain needs all pickups he can get, he understandably need mostly items that help him get them like, sack of pennies, deep pockets, sack of sacks and importantly rune bag (since runes are rare)
-Items that change pickup quality: Here probably only real example would be Dark bum, since he changes 1.5 red heart into chance to get dark heart, which has much higher bag quality and gives chance for devil items
-It is also advised to craft rock bottom first, before tears rate/tear mod shenanigans
-Sacred orb has unique interaction, which doesnt allow to craft items below quality 2, but it changes recipes as well, so you loose all remembered info about items
Bad items:
-Items that can destroy items for little reward: Lil Portal, key bum
-Items like humbling boundle and bogo bombs as they make it harder to craft specific recepies
-Magneto like items that will cause him to pickup everything himself
-Item rerolls items like D6, spindown dice, glitched crown or additional choice from options and options2
Strategy:
Tainted cain has 2 very unique ways of playing, as its common to use external item descriptions mod, to see all recepies we can craft with pickups on whole floor, making this character instantly THE STRONGEST in the game.
Case 1: no recipe showing mod
You really want to get 16 pennies as soon as possible, as this allows to craft 2 slot machines (slot machine has fixed recepie of 8 pennies), inside secret room or other special room (curse room, angel room, devil room), to get high quality pickups, and then basically pick up best pickups you get hoping for strong items
Case 2: Recipe showing mod
machine strategy works here as well but better, althought our priorities change, we want to create deep pockets as soon as possible, because this allows to craft multiple slot machines on single floor, which resoults in game break 100% of the time
This character unfortunatelly doesnt really change from run to run,and his runs are either annoying because we theoretically can make anything but get bad items anyway, or we can one shot delirium by 3rd floor depending if we mod game or not, either way he is one of most interesting, but most boring to play character, unlike normal cain who always is nice to play, even if he doesnt have strong side
