attachment styles and 16 types

entp, entj, estp and estj are dismissing avoidants. they will basically won't need a deep connection more than a single person. they can have many, many "friends" though and they can absolutely enjoy their presence and have MORE fun/productivity with them but their relationship with these "friends" will be "emotionally superficial". they simply do not see the point of being "vulnerable" with people except that one person. in fact, they don't really want others to be vulnerable with them either. they will play with you and have fun with you in the moment but don't ask them their deepest darkest secrets or something. they won't tell you. they will change the subject. they will "dismiss" your deepening attempts of emotional connection. they don't need your emotional support. they deal with negative emotions not by sharing them but focusing on new positive experiences whether that's drinking or bungee-jumping or speeding or trolling others or working hard for their goals.

esfp, enfp, enfj and esfj are secure types. they won't avoid expressing their emotions. they LIKE expressing their emotions. if somebody make fun of that, it's them being assholes and evil and stuff so that will change nothing for exfxs. basically they got the biggest emotional balls and do not feel like they should protect themselves. naturally therefore their attachment style is secure. they are not guarded.

istp, intp, intj and istj are fearful avoidants. these types deep down need and like and want emotional support. all these types are duals of secure ones in socionics for that reason. but yeah, they are very afraid they will get the opposite of the support so their general attitude when it comes to emotional attachments is an avoidant one. secure types and their open and direct and emotionally/ethically-non-cryptic ways will encourage them to come out of their shells.

infp, infj, isfj and isfp gets preoccupied / anxious attachment style. like secure ones, they also want to create emotionally deep connections but their feelings are more fragile so any kind of rejection will make them take two steps back. but if you are nice, they will come closer and closer and closer. how to explain these types and dismissive avoidant ones are duals in socionics though? i think these types perceive dismissive avoidants even more anxious about feelings than themselves and in a way they are right too. so they empathize with them so they take their time so they use the best method to emotionally approach dismissive avoidants.

Charlie - ENFP, the Campaigner

I can see an argument for ENFJ (the Protagonist), but I think she's an ENFP. Her chaotic energy is pretty clearly ENFP, and she's got great ideas but needs people who are more logical to help her enact her plans.

Vaggie - ISTJ, the Logistician

I initially thought she was an INTJ, the Architect, buuut I think she's more focused on the here and now than the future, particularly when it comes to how she handles her past and telling Charlie vs not telling her.

Lucifer INTP, the Logician

I could see an argument for an ENTP (the Debater), but his behavior honestly seems more introverted to me... as we've seen him thus far. This could change. It's hard to know because ENTPs do tend to be more introverted than other E types. Either way, the social awkwardness yet way of captivating people through sheer charisma? So him.

Angel ESFP, the Entertainer

Fitting for our p**n star. Lol. Angel is very much feelings-motivated. PersonalityDatabase lists him as an ESTP (Entrepreneur) but I would say they're just wrong lol. He makes decisions about how they impact people, not any innate principle. Even in his redemption, he's more interested in how it affects Charlie than in the practical ideas of right and wrong. He's a people pleaser as much as he likes pushing buttons (see how he handles Val), and he can push buttons precisely because he's very sensitive to others' emotions.

Husk - ISTP, the Virtuoso

The ISTP of ISTPs. He is very obvious.

Alastor - ENTP, the Debater

I mean, I think he's easier to type than Lucifer as a clear ENTP.

here’s the fun part, no one knows that i am nick fury’s daughter (i scripted that he didn’t change my last name to his for safety purposes) and my name in the orphanage was my cr last name. but he did change my last name after the adoption to leblanc (for further safety precautions.) so far no one knows about my real identity & powers before joining the avengers

fury is actually a good dad and he let me do the things i want to do growing up (gymnastics, contemporary dance, & modelling) before i decide to join shield and became a spy

avengers

since i don’t want no trauma, i scripted out major worldly (and outerworldly threats) so no doomsday n shit. so this dr is more like a spy dr than anything. i also scripted out any apocalyptic events. zombies icks me out

but nick still make the avengers a team. to wipe out earth’s and other realms major evil organizations, evil politicians yk all that jazz.

and most of the avengers live in the tower. (i want to live that avengers found family domestic trope stfu)

the avengers consist of: bruce, nat, wanda, pietro (scripted out his death), thor, occasionally loki, tony, me, clint, vision, peter (he doesn’t live in the tower), yelena after we demolish the red room, steve, bucky after we save him (scripted him to not kill tony’s dad) i want the full domestic life experience with no beef alright.

i also scripted that matt murdock is the avengers official lawyer. i also scripted a shit ton of safety precautions to not get my ass traumatized so imma just skip that part

and i forgot to mention that my CEO, model, performer persona is totally different than my hero persona (batman bruce moment yurrr) and i shapeshift so my hero and citizen face is literally different.

INTJ: My type and the best type obviously. Kidding. Not really. Healthy/mature ones are interesting and helpful, nice and easy to talk to. I've noticed immature ones try a little too hard to seem edgy and cool to fit into the "cold" INTJ stereotype when that's not a flex at all. I think a lot of us are impatient and stubborn too.

ENTJ: Often driven and motivated individuals who put in a lot of effort into what they do. I admire their hardworking nature. I've unfortunately come across a very unhealthy one before who was quite possessive and narcissistic. I did not have to deal with them personally, but a few of my friends did and their horror stories of that ENTJ will probably be stuck with me forever.

INTP: Their minds are...unique. I wonder what goes on in there. Such weird yet interesting individuals. Sometimes a bit rude, unintentional or not. My younger sister is one and I have to resist the urge to fight with her a lot lmao, but maybe that's just us being siblings.

ENTP: Love them. ENxPs in general 🤌🤌. I've never come across a boring ENTP. Often so chaotic. Never fail to make me laugh. I can have the funnest conversations with them. So witty.

INFJ: One of my best friends is one and it's kinda funny how similar yet different we both are. Ni dom things I guess. Other INFJs I've observed seem to have a lot of patience and kindness. Genuinely have a good heart and want the best for others.

ENFJ: I've only met two personally. Can be funny and witty, really approachable people. Both are very loyal and care a lot about their families, they carry a lot of responsibilities for others. Do not like to show their struggles, will probably mention it briefly before changing the subject.

INFP: Probably my least favorite type due to having bad experiences with them. Unhealthy ones can be so whiney and pathetic. Always want to cry and complain but never actually do anything about it. Can burst emotionally without warning. They can be so exhausting to deal with. I'm not gonna automatically hate you if you're an INFP though, that's just stupid lol, but I will be wary. I only have one INFP friend for now and likely because she's a lot older than me, she's much calmer and more considerate compared to the previous INFPs I've encountered.

ENFP: Some weirdos fr but I love it. Always so talkative and excited. Why are you guys lowkey kinda sad though 😭

ISTJ: I haven't come across any irl yet, but a few of my favorite fictional characters are ISTJs. One of my fav kpop idols as well. Not really sure where the boring stereotype comes from as I think ISTJs are quite nice.

ESTJ: I don't think I've met any yet and have typed a few idols as an ESTJ. I know they get a bad rep, but I honestly just think it stems from ESTJ's tendency to be direct, no bs, which can be intimidating/overwhelming for people. They can be really weird and silly only if they're comfortable.

ISFJ: I don't know any ISFJs irl, but seeing ISFJ idols/celebrities, they're just usually nice and kind people. Quiet but do enjoy being with others.

ESFJ: Honestly think my other best friend may be one 🤔 I do think she has a high Fe for sure. They seem to care the most about their presentation and other's opinions of them.

ISTP: I've only met one and they were okay. Pretty chill and had immense "idgaf" energy. But that attitude was also what made them a bit unlikeable as it extended to having a disregard for feelings and morals. Nobody's perfect, but I don't think it's that difficult to have common human decency. I do like a few ISTP characters and celebrities though.

ESTP: One of my older siblings is one and we get along fine. She has a good eye for aesthetics. Her and other ESTPs I've seen don't really seem to be super serious people, they're just trying their best to enjoy life. Adventurous and open minded. Can't seem to stay still.

ISFP: Have only met a few irl and I've also typed several kpop idols as one. From what I've seen, they are a lot calmer compared to INFPs. They're quite passionate but more realistic individuals though, always going for what they want (likely due to aux Se). Also quite blunt lol but it does not top IxTP's honesty.

ESFP: Have not met any irl yet, but from observing an ESFP I follow and ESFP celebrities, I like their straightforwardness. Passionate and expressive. Funny.

the end of an era

I wanted to thank you all, not only for all the notes of gratitude, encouragement, etc., in my inbox, but for being my faithful readers over the last ten years as I blundered around, answering asks, figuring things out on the fly, mistyping myself half a dozen times, and learning by “answering.” It’s been an incredible blessing for me to be part of your lives, and now, I hope, I have left behind enough of a resource, through my thousands of answered questions, my MBTI book, and my ongoing FunkyMBTI Blog, that you can be guided to your type and start the journey of self-development.

I want to say a few more things, but first, I’ll answer the burning questions that I know are going through your mind directly.

Does this mean no more character typings? No, it does not. I will continue updating FunkyMbti.com for the indefinite future, and those posts will automatically be ported over to this tumblr page, along with posts from Sixy Pixie (which I may expand to include general Enneagram posts/information/insights).

All it means is I am retiring from answering typing questions. I will still be active in various online communities, doing research, gathering information, and sharing it on my blogs. My interest in MBTI has waned since writing my book (which I consider the “achievement” of over a decade of work/research/learning), so the best way I know of is to move forward.

Does this mean I can’t request characters anymore? No, it does not. You can always contact me through FunkyMBTI.com’s contact page to make character requests. I have an ongoing list of characters people would like to see, and I hope to get around to most of them. (Such as, people want to see The OC, The Scream movies, and more Hollywood icons, such as Natalie Wood). I also have Sanditon, more Shadow and Bone typings, etc., coming.

Are you going to delete Funky on tumblr? No, it will stay up as long as tumblr survives, not only as a monument to my zillion hours of work, but to the thousands of people who braved the internet to ask me questions and allowed me to showcase my “Big Sister Energy.” Ha, ha. Seriously, though, I appreciate all the questions, comments, compliments, and submissions over the years, including the gigantic assortment of characters from shows/movies I may never watch.

What now? I will stock the queue for a few months and take time off, and then hopefully dig more into the Enneagram, since I think that has real potential to change people’s lives for the better.

Final Thoughts:

It seems fitting that I close “the end of an era” (as my ENFJ friend put it, when she heard about this) as I approach the end of a “decade” in my life, and a big “0” birthday. I can’t exactly recall how my journey started. I think I took one of those MBTI quizzes, shared by a friend on some social media website, got mistyped as an INTJ, and fell down a rabbit hole that took over my life for over a decade. I went through every possible type known to man (other than SP), and can now finally claim with authority to be an ENFP.

I made all the mistakes you are going to make, if you are just starting out on this journey of self-awareness – I listened to the wrong people, I took in the wrong information, I mistyped myself and others, I had to unlearn everything that made no sense, but along the way, I learned how to introspect and be present with myself. To pay attention to what I am doing, and why I am doing it, and that is the most valuable take-away from this experience. You can either go through life oblivious to your true self, or you can go through life friends with yourself, and aware of both your strengths and your weaknesses. I recommend the latter. It's hard but worth it.

Doing that for so long, getting used to being “wrong,” prepared me to read my first book on the Enneagram. And it changed my life. I knew I was a 6, that there was nothing “wrong” with me, that other people struggled with the same things I did. And my introspection started growing deeper. There were many ego battles along the way, denial of the aspects of 6 profiles that I didn’t want to admit to, followed by resignation and self-awareness (that I do that too, and it’s revolting!). But it’s a journey that I intend to walk on, for the rest of my life, and I’m glad to know these things. I wish I had known them sooner. I would have been a much better friend.

All of my current friends came to me through Funky. My friends in Sweden and Tennessee and Idaho and India and Philadelphia and Florida and Spain and Greece. I would not know them, had they not reached out to me, asked me a question, asked if we could e-mail, or helped me figure something out. Funky has been my “social” life for a decade. Some of them are still with me, even though one of them is not – Maddie, my beloved ENTP co mod, my zany, nutty, wild-hearted 793 “DJ” who could simultaneously make me laugh until I cried and drive me insane with frustration, passed away of a heart attack during the pandemic in 2021. One minute she was in my life, and the next she was gone forever. I never told you at the time, but it seems a fitting end to my time here, to pay homage to a friend I hope to meet one day “in person” in whatever comes after this. So Maddie, thank you for everything you put into this blog with me, thank you for the hours of fun and laughter, for the many hundreds of posts that will stand as a testament to your memory. I miss you. And I hope wherever you are, you are doing something crazy.

Thank you, dear reader, for coming with me on this journey. I know we shall meet again.

ﾟ𐦍༘ No.6: @somewhere-stuck-in-the-stars

Do you know what I mean when I say your request gave me autumn/fall vibes? Like all I could imagine was a fireplace, hot cocoa, maple trees and a nice cozy cottage home (I wrote this BEFORE reading that your favourite season is fall btw :0)

So, I ended up matching you to Yukimiya Kenyu!

Initially, I actually thought of matching you to Alexis Ness, but… I couldn’t do that to you 😬

So, we know that Yukimiya is canonically a model, dresses nicely and has a calm/soft kind of aesthetic. I feel like he’d dress more of a light academia with coats and scarves, contrasting nicely with your deep jewel and earth tone attire/aesthetic. I know MBTI tests aren’t usually completely true to someone’s personality, but with you being an INTJ, I’d imagine you bring a vibe of comfort and care that not everybody does. With Yukimiya having constant worries about his wellbeing alongside playing soccer, you’d be able to be able to bring him a breath of fresh air and take his mind away from worrying too much all the time.

For a day where the two of you go someplace together, I’d imagine he’d take you to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, seeing as its one of the things that he’s interested in. He’d take sweet, candid photos of you, knowing the best angles to shoot from. Of course, he wouldn’t leave without getting some photos of himself. I get the feeling that he’d probably post an aesthetic reel of the trip on Instagram as well. It might spark some controversy amongst his female fans once they notice you being a little too close to him for their liking! Not that it’ll change anything between you two, of course. I have a feeling it'll just make him want to post you even more.

I think somebody like you is very in tune with other people’s emotions. Not like a psychologist or an ‘empath’ (whatever that is), and you’d be able to tell when he needs a little bit of a mood booster. You’d be a caring person who is able to watch over him and treat him with kindness that isn’t contingent on his popularity or skill.

I've said this before, but I don't always match people up with someone who is the exact opposite. So in this case, I decided to match you to Bachira Meguru!

Writing this matchup literally made me realise how lonely Bachira was for a majority of his time before Blue Lock (Bachira fic incoming very soon). So although he puts on an energetic and happy front most of the time, I feel like he definitely has some unspoken problems that flood his mind daily. For the most part, he's extroverted and positive most of the time, so I think he'd be able to easily get along with another person who shares the same/similar personality as him, seeing as he (alongside lots of people, but especially him) yearns to be understood by someone else, and I think you'd have no trouble bringing him that sort of comfort.

Bachira would probably love the fact that you do theatre. Seeing as he likes exciting things, I'm sure he'd definitely enjoy seeing the different characters you play and roles you partake in (I don't know much about theatre and choir so I'm sorry if you don't actually do any acting!). I'm sure he'd enjoy watching you practice. Here's a scenario that I imagined:

You've got an important play coming up, in which you take part as a person who gets rescued by a prince, king, or hero of sorts. Seeing as you don't have the male actor at your beck and call, you decide to give Bachira a call and ask him to help you. Elated, he immediately agrees and comes over to where you are. To your surprise, he's very enthusiastic, and plays the role with a lot of confidence! 'I wonder why he didn't pursue acting...' you ponder.

Seeing as the both of you are super enthusiastic about the things you're interested in, Bachira would definitely yap a lot about different soccer players, teams, which team he finds interesting, or which players he would love to go up against. He'd also be the type to spam you with reels of either incoherent memes with the most random audios, couple videos strung along with an 'us' or 'you', or edits that people make of him, with him sending '😳😳' emojis to you in response. He acts embarrassed but he secretly likes all the edits and saves them to a collection on his private lists.

Bachira would definitely love being around you at all times. He may get a bit attached sometimes, but you pay it no mind. He'd appreciate that you lend him an ear and always listen to his worries without shutting him up or making him feel worthless, seeing as others have ostracised him simply because they think he's 'weird', and that's why you'll always mean so much to him.

ﾟ𐦍༘ No.7: Anon who is super into History.

Honestly, I think this was arguably my hardest matchup. Probably because the character I ended up matching you to is always at the back of my mind (I don't hate him, I just don't really think about him at all).

So after spending ages deciding, I chose to match you to Ikki Niko! Hear me out on this one, okay?

Niko doesn't show it, but he's actually relatively passionate about the things he likes, and although he doesn't look it, he's interested in things other than soccer. Seeing as he enjoys watching Anime and is sort of a nerd in that regard, he'd definitely watch plays with you in the theatre or at home. He wouldn't really say anything to you about it at the start, but after a while, you'll find that he's randomly gotten more into it than before. I think Niko would definitely look into something that someone important to him really enjoys. That way, he can get closer to them without having to embarrass himself by asking them questions upon questions.

He also comes off to me as more of a listener than a speaker. Seeing as you enjoy talking lots and lots about the things you like, Niko would definitely sit and listen. I have a feeling that the two of you would sit on calls for hours, majority of the time would be spent with you talking about things you enjoy (aka, mainly history related things). He'd also take notes on the little things about yourself that you're interested in that you don't notice yourself talking about. Niko wouldn't want to show that he's overly into what you're saying, acting like he's doing work on his laptop over your call. It turns out that he's keeping track of what you're saying on a locked note called 'Her 🤍'.

Your comment about how someone told you that you dress like a dead grandma made me laugh 😭 however in this case its actually fine, as I don't think Niko is super big on fashion. Although he might make fun of you here and there, he's not the type to really care all that much about clothing styles. Also seeing as you say you're lazy in things which include sports, watching Niko play is just about the only thing you'd probably do in that regard. He doesn't say, but it secretly makes him super happy to know you're only watching it to see him on the field. For a little side scenario, I imagine that despite you not being overly extroverted, you might run up to him on the field after he scores the winning goal in a game, and hug him. He definitely wouldn't pry you off, but he'd get a little flustered. Though secretly he'd want everyone watching to know that he actually does have a special someone rooting for him and him only.

-I feel like Ayatsuji doesn't celebrate Christmas that much because he's stuck in that small office everyday. And he doesn't really have anyone special to celebrate it with, so the most he would do was wish Tsujimura a 'Merry Christmas'

-But things changed when you became his s/o. Now Ayatsuji isn't dumb; he knows fully well how Christmas is celebrated and why, but he just doesn't see the point in celebrating it. It's just a day in December where everybody gives each other second-hand gifts and have a big awkward family reunion which nobody wants to go to but they're only there for tradition and the food

-So educate him! Be patient and take things slow, because Ayatsuji is the stubborn type. Start by wishing him ‘Merry Christmas’ and give him a gift. Not a too expensive one, but one that’s enough to be important for him

-Then slowly advance onto food and decorations. He might like drinking hot chocolate, and would even allow you to hang a few Christmas decorations around his office. Don’t hang too much though, because he doesn’t want Tsujimura to see it lmao. Christmas is something that he celebrates with you and only you

-Ayatsuji still might prefer celebrating Christmas more quietly, because he dislikes having loud gatherings that drain all his social battery same here lmao. During this time, he would put up lights and decorations, light a fireplace in his office (don’t ask me how he got it), put on some Christmas songs that he likes, and just overall spend the night cuddling with you in front of the fire

-Now onto Christmas gifts. He wouldn’t prefer anything flashy or expensive, because as I said he doesn’t see the point in it if he was never going to use it. So I would recommend you to get him a watch, or a new pipe, but of the more fancy side. It helps him with his cases and it’s something that he would actually use often

-Get him a nice-looking doll!!! Ayatsuji would love it and he would definitely add it to his collection. That doll would be cleaned and maintained to the perfect degree, because he treasures it a lot maybe even more than his other dolls

-If you can make him a doll, even better! I feel like he would love hand-made gifts more, because they are made with thought, devotion and patience. So get some sewing materials and carefully stitch together a beautiful doll, and Ayatsuji would cherish it for eternity

-Now Ayatsuji would also give you small gifts. He would also make a doll for you! Or take you out to have a coffee date. Or buy a new cat for you! He secretly loves gifting you stuff, but he’ll never admit it

-Fyodor also doesn’t really celebrate Christmas, but he’s more flexible and relaxed at the idea of it. He’s quite busy all year around, and would love to take any chance to spend time with you. And that was exactly what Christmas was for

-Now that he has an entire day off with you, he’s not wasting a single second of it. Definitely buys all sorts of gifts for you and takes you out to nice places

-I feel like Fyodor just wants Christmas with you to be calm, loving, and traditional. He doesn’t invite any of the Decay of Angels members to celebrate with you two, because he only wants to celebrate it with you

-His anaemic self does not have enough strength to put up a Christmas tree and hang all the decorations, but frankly he doesn’t really care for those stuff. He definitely lights a fire in the fireplace with the excuse of ‘it’s for the Christmas mood’ but we both know that he’s just very very cold

-Also more romantic than usual on Christmas. Fyodor calls you affectionate nicknames in Russian, incorporates kisses nearly every 5 minutes, and even waltzes with you at night time. If you aren’t blushing already, do the same to him, and he’d secretly be very happy

-In the very rare moments, you might catch him humming a few carols under his breath. I headcanon Christmas was one of the most memorable holidays when he was a child, so he would be singing Christmas carols every now and then. Sing with him or play it on your instrument! He would be pleasantly surprised

-Fyodor plays the cello for you on Christmas. Since he’s in the mood, he might play an entire concerto, and it sounds so damn good that you’re always left wanting more. He would play anything you asked him to, from Schubert’s cello sonata in A minor to ‘Paint it Black’, but he would prefer Schubert more

-Make a traditional Russian dinner for him! He probably hasn’t had any real good Russian food in a long time, so get some ingredients and cook him some Peljmeni or Kutya and Fyodor would be eternally thankful. He loves your cooking and might even teach you how to make some other Russian foods if he wasn’t feeling too weak

-On the topic of gifts; Fyodor doesn’t really mind what you get for him, because he is going to cherish any gift that he receives from you. Mistyping on MBTI

Introduction

The purpose of this post is to understand what are mistyping and how they happen. I’ll explain some of the patterns ive noticed when it comes to some of the mistypings as well as some of examples ive I personally disagree with. Please dont take any of this as a personal insult if any of these examples I give are things you've done in the past or the typings I disagree with are your own.

Case #1Misunderstanding Functions

-What I refer to by the misunderstanding of functions I mean it's the general purpose of the function and how does this function work and perceive reality. I understand that functions can be complicated and Carl Jung’s definition of Ni can be convoluted and confusing (sometimes just plain vague) however I do think that typing people/characters needs at least allot of backing up with your knowledge of functions. Usually the misunderstanding I see with each functions comes out in these ways.

Si- Memories/Any form of previously obtained knowledge

Se-Impulsiveness and Aggression

Fi-Sensitivy and Emotionality

Fe-Caring

Ti- Thinking in any capacity

Te-Rudeness

Ne- Quirks and Quips

Ni- just knowing stuff

Ex-Sasuke Uchiha (ISFP)- Sasuke is often typed as an INTJ due to his preference for Ni-Fi HOWEVER when it comes to how he perceives reality and his way to deal with conflict its pretty clear he is an Fi dom. There is this misconception of Fi=Sensitivity and Emotionality. However this couldn't be farther from the truth. Fi is simply preferring your Core Values and desire over the other. His goal was always Fi related NOT Ni related.

Case#3 Simplification of Functions

Following the last case this is usually the more common one I see when it comes to mistyping usually people will flatten functions or just straight up default to god awful stereotypes of each type when it comes to typing them. You'll often see people “Trope Type” certain charcaters. Most of their arguments revolve around the aesthetic of the character and then their functions. Which is why those peoples typing will usually look like this.

ESXJ-Mean Girl and stuck up

ISXJ-Boring ones

ESXP-Immature,Dumb or straight up substance abuse

ISXP-Edgy

XNTP-Quips and Quirks but always the smartest

XNFJ-Kind Humanitarian

XNFP-Sentimental mess

XNTJ-Villain

Ex-Naruto Uzumaki (EXFP)I know I previously typed him as an ENFP however I've been thinking of the relation of his Se-Ni throughout the show and I might change my typing. However thus far every single Se dom argument I read for Naruto reads like this “ Well he is immature” “he is impulsive and reckless” “ can't be an Ne dom because Intuitive=smart and Sensor=Dumb” sometimes they don't say this word for word but their arguments boil down to this. And I find it quite frustrating cuz those same people look at you straight in the eye and say that you're intuitive bias, even tho they are the ones defaulting to stereotypes.

Case #4 Positioning of Functions

Character development in MBTI is more complex than character development in Enneagram. Depending on the movie/tv show the character might either develop their inferior function or their tert function. Which is why understanding the position and model you are using for MBTI and be consistent using it. The position of function is important because they are what defined the person and how they approach data management. Also certain characters might have preference for their tert function rather than their aux functions. Some Characters just use their stack in a very balanced way.

Ex- Sokka (ESTJ)- He is often typed as an ENTP due to his exaggerated use of Ne in the later seasons. To me at least he is an ESTJ with a preference for TeNe. Sokka never really uses NeTi in the first book. His priority came in form of TeSi (Organizing the environment with a solid metric and detailed positioning of others). His development came in the form of his Ne not Fi. To the point he ends of sticking to it in Book 2 and Book 3.

Case #4 Character Traits=/=Cognitive Preferences/Perception

Often people conflate how a character/person acts instead of how they think and proceed with conflict. MBTI isnt really a personality theory but rather and understanding of your cognitive process and preference. It's based on how you perceive reality and how you make decisions based on your dominant function. If anything enneagram would be closer to an actual personality test.

Ex- Amy March (ESFP)- I took such a long time to come to this typing because similarly to Naruto people only talked about how she was an annoying immature child. However her monologue points to her stresses and how she must stick to her SeTe rather than SeFi due to how the environment is working and suppressing women in that era.

Case #5 Just making things up

This is the most common one I see when people type characters, they usually just make things up. Sometimes there isn't any contextual evidence on what they are talking about and will mostly differ to broad and vague statements that hold no wait or aren't represented in the narrative. Sometimes they'll just take things out of context and will just go with them and end up convincing people even if their argument is 95% fabricated stuff and the 5% is misunderstanding on their part.

Ex-Ada Wong (IXTJ) Ada Wong’s Ti is non existent and no one online has ever written an argument where I there is enough evidence on what they are saying. Ada isnt a person who is interested in analytical process and internal understanding. Even character development comes from XiFi not Fe. Sorry but liking Leon but not really isnt a good argument for low Fe. Her development isnt about understanding the emotional state of the other or in relation to the other but rather the self. Even OG Resident Evil its stated that she struggles with her own values and emotional state . It's almost as if their argument hinges on ISTP=Spy characters.

Case #6 Misogyny (yeah...we are going there).

Often in typology you'll notice a dichotomy between Female characters vs Male characters. You'll notice that female characters are twice as likely to get typed as Feelers even when they dont show much usage of any feeling function. Often the arguments I see its in reference to either showing the character struggling emotionally or reacting in some way to something bad happening in their life. But when male characters such as Homelander and Patrick Bateman who have multiple emotional outburst in their runs but most people type them as Te doms. While Female characters that have emotional outburst such as Asuka and Jennifer Harding (Both Te doms) both get typed as ESFP because=SeFi=angry and emotional. It often happens in cases such as Bakugo who gets typed as an ESTP but if a female character does the same thing she gets typed as an ESFP. Im not calling you a misygonist if you typed any of this characters like this I just think that you should reconsider your typology process.

Ex-There are allot of these so I just gonna point to a few

Alice Liddle (INTP) - Being typed as an INFP but very clear her struggle is between Ti-Si and understanding her Fe.

Nancy Wheeler (ESTJ)- Being nice=/=Fe she has always preferred TeSi (organizing and structuring things in step by step processes) Over using Fe.

Madison Montgomery (ESTP)- Her character is pure SeTi and her struggle with her Fe is shown in both S3 and S8.

Yenneffer (INTJ)- NiFi reaching the ideal self is her goal also her Te is very on your face.

Ik you said ppl’s strength underlie their weakness & vice versa, so they have a set of advantages to offer. As much as I’d like to dismiss it, I suck at Ti (I’m improving by learning critical thinking). I need to view Ts less judgmentally.

I had personal motivations for handling immaturity, but that wasn’t the only drive. The other (great) one is my feelings for my childhood INTJ friend, who I’m having a crush on & is asking me out. I’ve had feelings for him since childhood.

I used to think we couldn’t go out because of my immaturity. I suck at handling personality setbacks/criticisms/etc. (all date back to bad Fe & Ti lol). Later, I became more honest w my feelings, better at expressing genuinely, finally more logical than before (some positive changes for my own sake). But I still feel unable to bridge the gap w the Ts (esp TJs).

I hate this state, it robs me off chance for a greater relationship w the guy I’ve loved for years. I’m better than before, but I still fear this won't work. Our friendship is great, time passed but we still share many central values like how close we are to our family, definition of independence, pet peeves, political spectrum. I used to suck at not making a disagreement a heated argument, but with time, I got better at It. We had found the way to disagree while still being able to fully understand the others’ POV. I got more grounded thanks to him, too. But our growth was platonic.

Communication challenges are still considerable. I never used to tell him my feelings and I’ve never been in relationships before. But he’s already been in a few. I’m into this possible change as much as I’m willing to stay the same, because I’m so scared whether being his girlfriend will actually be a good choice. Help :(

You say you get the idea of everyone having strengths/weaknesses but it doesn't sound like you really do. On the surface, it's not a bad thing to want to improve upon your weaknesses, but your approach to it is problematic. You still haven't understood that the first step must be to accept and embrace weaknesses, because proper self-improvement has to come from a place of love - not hate.

You are standing in front of someone who knows your strengths and weaknesses and still loves you and wants to start a life together. Yet you cannot accept being loved by him. Why? Because you haven't yet learned to love yourself, so you can't imagine that others can, either.

It sounds to me like it is lovingkindness you need to work on. Critical thinking isn't going to help you accept and embrace all of yourself, is it? When you finally learn how to approach yourself, your life, and others with an attitude of love, the relationship problems you've described have no reason to arise.

For example: If you can accept your insecurities, own them and talk about them openly and still love yourself, who can trigger them? If you can accept and love him both for his strengths and weaknesses, why would they cause you any conflict? And when conflicts arise as they inevitably do in intimate relationships, if you approach them with a reconciliatory attitude, why wouldn't they get resolved?

At the heart of your question is not personality but your self-worth and self-esteem. Until you address those issues, your attempts at function development are at high risk of getting twisted up. Ni+Fe should allow you to envision beautiful potential for love, but you are using them to invent more ways to hate and punish yourself.

Relationships aren't about being perfect and being able to handle everything perfectly. If that's what you're unconsciously aiming for, then you're imposing a very unreasonable burden on yourself. Failing to achieve false images of perfection only exacerbates self-hatred in a vicious cycle.

okay disclaimer that mbti is a pseudoscience of a pseudoscience and categorizing "personality types" by ordering "cognitive functions" is no way to responsibly evaluate the world around you as a thoughtful and conscientious adult. that said, we were all fifteen once, and perhaps during that time we became obsessed with typing characters as a lens through which to facilitate deeper character analysis. perhaps! who can say!

aang is an enfp obviously. classic enfp. katara is an infp which i know is controversial in a sick & twisted "katara is a mom so she's an esfj" world but i stand by it and you can't change my mind. sokka is an entp. perhaps the most entp to ever entp. toph is an istp. zuko is an isfp (note how he is similar to both katara and toph but also far dumber than both of them. not a coincidence!). suki is tough bc she's not prominent enough to type confidently but i think she is an istp who just happens to be very charismatic and outgoing. i'm less confident abt that one though. azula is an entp yes i said what i said. mai is an intj. ty lee is difficult bc she's so performative it's hard to tell what she's truly thinking at any given time but i think she is an esfj masquerading as an esfp. iroh is an enfj. i think yue is an infj but again her presence is limited so it's hard to tell, that's just vibes tbh. jet is a very stereotypical estp, so despite his limited screentime it's actually pretty easy to type him. i could try typing other characters but any minor character is a lot more difficult to evaluate so keep that in mind. and also take this entire framework with a heap of salt lmao

Carulia ship analysis pt. 2

keeping for a moment the no chemistry topic

I forgot to talk about a scene that is one of the most important in this ship, i'm talking about the rose scene

here in this scene, we can see that Julia was crushing on Carmen, and it isn't hidden, but most people think about the fact that since Carmen gave those roses to Julia she is in love with her, but for me, it doesn't change a thing.

I'm gonna explain better.

I think the red roses are, for Carmen, a way to say "good luck" or "thank you" since it isn't the first time she gifts them to someone she cares about, remember lupe peligro?

she gifted roses to her to wish her good luck, and I think that a thank you was implied.

so since, in my belief, Carmen does not reciprocate Julia's feelings, I think that she just gifted her some roses to say, "Thank you for always helping her when i need it"

now, for this topic, I know that I missed some scenes and episodes which they are together in, but I only mentioned the important parts, or else I would have to say the same thing for every single interaction they had.

now, let's move to the second topic

they are very different

this topic can be connected very well to what I said for the previous one, but anyway.

to better understand this topic, I'm gonna have to do a little analysis on Julia and Carmen's characters.

We know about carmen that probably her favourite subjects are history and geography, she likes to stay fit and train, she is an empathetic person, a badass one also, she is an orphan (not entirely tho. But she doesn’t know that since the end), she had a thief training growing up, she never had any friends until player (her first online friend) and graham (her first irl friend), she is an ESTP (so she is a natural-born leader who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy working with people, and have an entrepreneurial personality (that is just a superficial description tho, i suggest searching it up to have a deeper knowledge of what I’m talking about))

And then about Julia we know that she likes history very much and also like investigation, she is very calm and professional, she for sure had at least a mother growing up (as we see in a photo that she has in her office in the Egyptian episode) and she knows her family roots for sure, she really likes to talk about history and she is an INTJ (a person with the Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging personality traits. These thoughtful tacticians love perfecting the details of life, applying creativity and rationality to everything she does (even here, it is just a superficial description))

As you can see from those 2 short explanations of the two of them, we can see that the only thing that they actually have in common is just liking history, which carmen also share with player. You can see too that this is not enough to have a good relationship; ad example if you took any other ship in the show (which could be Cleo and Bellum, Paper star and Tigress, El topo and Le chèvre, Carmen and Ivy, Carmen and Gray and many more) have much more than that in common.

With that, we connect to the third topic

They would not complement each other well

After all the things that i said on the previous topic, we know that they are very different , speaking for their interests, their past, and their personality. And with that, you have to consider how they would want a relationship to be (always in my opinion):

Carmen, for sure, needs a passionate relationship, full of teasing, and she would need her partner to keep up with her, with the same energy

Julia, instead, needs a more sweet relationship, gentle words etc… Basically, a relationship based on sweetness, a more “calm” one

Can you see the problem here? They are not each others types. They would not complement well.

Now, the last but not least topic

They have no “ship moments”

Ok I’m gonna take as an example here, Redcrackle.

As a really good ship, Redcrackle has a lot of moments that are clearly romantic, and that can not be seen in other ways than that. They basically leave no interpretations. Like the coffee dates ones (yes i know that Gray was brainwashed, and I’m gonna talk about it in my Redcrackle ship analysis, but still) or when chief said that he (graham) was an idiot in love (with carmen) or basically just the way they would constantly look at each other.

While Carulia has only a few moments that shows that Julia liked Carmen, but not the other way round. And, i will not stop saying that, but a crush, little or big, not reciprocated, is not enough to base a relationship. Plus, this is just a personal interpretation. Anyone could interpret what Julia did and said as a friendship thing because it is not oblivious like it is for Redcrackle.

Ok, i hope that you liked this little ship analysis (and i also hope to not upset or trigger anyone with this post, too). Next, i will do a Redcrackle ship analysis. Remember, you can ship whoever you want. This is just a personal opinion.
