The Big Black Clover Fanfic Recommendation Post
I've been talking about making that post since forever and I think I've finally finished compiling them!
So. Grab a notepad. Take out your TBR list. Get ready to bookmark or mark for later. And let's go.
I guess I should start with a few disclaimers 🫡
I haven't read every fic out there and there are notably a few fics I know I'm going to love but haven't started yet. I think I'll update the post regularly.
The fics on this post are fics I enjoyed and remember having read. considering how many things I forget on a daily basis, it means a lot.
I have my favorite characters, tropes, and themes and this will definitely show.
I'm attempting to organize the fics in categories but ofc some shippy fics also have feels or are angsty or are fluffy, same for the AUs... An attempt is made to organize them based on the vibes I remember (I’ve read some of those literal years ago).
If you're in this post and you think I've put your fic in the wrong category: don't hesitate to reach out!
For the shippy fics, I have my favorite ships but I'm a multishipper sooooo there's that.
I'm recommending oneshots, multichaptered fics, entire AUs, series and fics that are unfinished and probably never will be. Do keep that in mind if you don't like reading abandoned works (you'll be missing out but I can understand).

There was nothing that could have prepared Owen for the Black Bulls.

You're Mhin hcs are so fun to read!! Do you have any Vere hcs you'd like to share as well? (No pressure 😅😅)
Gonna be honest with you, anon: I never have ANYTHING in my head to share. It's empty in there. But since you asked, here's some things that came to mind!
General Vere HCs
Because he's literally a fox Monster, I think a lot of my HCs are based around that! For example:
He's destructive. Yeah. He destroyed Kuras's office because he hates him, but I also think he can't help it. His own place probably has scratches and bite marks on appropriate posts, too, though not as many—it is his space after all, he wants it to be good enough for him.
He will sometimes bite (not too hard) as a sign of affection. Very "rawr XD girlfriend who nom :3 uwu"-coded of him.
Yes, he does like to be pet, and scritched. However, he doesn't like 99% of people who try to, so best not to attempt it. For any brave soul out there: Scritches on the sides of his neck, where his hairline is, will get him super relaxed.
He can get the urge to "laugh" if he's really happy or excited about something, which he tries to suppress—he's better at keeping a lid on it than he is about hiding his tail wagging. This "laugh" sounds different from his sultry, cultivated "ha-ha~ you're funny~" laugh; it's more like a high-pitched, hiccupy giggle. It can make him sound a little crazy. Shame he won't weaponize it to be even more evil.
I also have non-fox-related headcanons for Vere, though, lol.
We already know he's a talented artist; I think his preferred mediums are pencil and charcoal.
This is a shippy headcanon, but I do think he has a lot of drawings of Ais's side profile in his sketchbook—one of the reasons why people are not allowed to leaf through it. Other things in his sketchbook include figure drawings, rough sketches of people who catch his fleeting interest, and symbols or beings from his dreams.
On the subject of dreams: Vere puts some stock into their contents. Maybe because of his unique constitution, he feels his dreams can have hints, warnings, and premonitions mixed in with the shit that doesn't make any sense. That's why, if something sticks out to him in a dream, he'll draw it.
Even with his heeled shoes off, Vere prefers to walk primarily on his toes. He's like a Barbie doll!
He generally likes slower, soothing music. In the modern day, he'd probably be a fan of old-school ballads and even ambient music.
This is a weird one, but I think Vere is really good at imitating people's voices. His voice is too unique to sound exactly like other people, but he can get pretty damn close, enough to fool someone on a first listen.

The Helaemonds/Helaegons need to calm down.
Don't get me wrong, it's always refreshing to see some people fill in the gaps of a basically untold relationship such as the one between the green kids in general, but this goes beyond basic obsessive shippy discourse. Leave this poor girl alone. Why's there an obsession with having her be romantically paired with her brothers, one worse than the other?
I understand the show has basically shown so little of her to the point where we didn’t even have a coronation for her on screen, so therefore you can self insert through her and have fun with headcanons regarding Aegon and Aemond. Really, I'm not faulting their girlies, you can be head over heels for whatever actor in character you want (unless you put them on pedestals and start acting like they did nothing wrong and pounce on whoever contests them, THEN we have a problem) but I assure you, Helaena would barely want anything to do with either of them.
Aegon is a sex pest turned sex offender, a drunkard and a neglectful father and husband at best. Her infamous toast in ep.8 has us believing that he cannot for the life of him interact with her unless he's horny drunk or that he forces himself on her at worst.* He was ready to leave them all in ep.9 before he was caught. Even the book is subtle about their relationship: all we know of them is that they sleep in shared chambers, that she was someone important and reliable in Aegon's council before B&C, and that he named her and Alicent the true Queens of his reign.
*(⚠️TW: PERSONAL OPINION⚠️ I'm not saying this last one isn't a possibility but it's sill outrageous for the way people speak about Helaena in defence of this "claim". No, she wouldn't joke about her own r*pe in front of the whole table full of people she doesn't know and right beside her abuser, and despite the hour-long metas I've read about how she's basically "too sheltered" to know what r*pe even means, I assure you she's a high-functioning autistic, not 5 years old. She can understand it perfectly.)
Helaemond is a pure show invention, I honestly wasn't expecting this many people to go up this kind of train. They barely interact, and most of the time it's Aemond saying he'd "perform his duty" should Helaena ever be wed to him, or that stare in ep.9 when he enters her chambers toiling after Alicent. It's, as always, the Aemond girlies who think poor Helaena would live her best life with Aemond, or that they are already romantically involved behind the scenes. The amount of "if one possesses a thing, the other will take it away" edits from people that are FULLY CONVINCED "the thing" is Helaena and that "the one" and "the other" are Aemond and Aegon respectively is honestly concerning.
Fics that are all about Aegon doing the worst and unspeakable things to her so "Aemond can come and save her" are y'all okay? Out of all people, HE has to save her?
Babes, I'm sorry to break your bubble, but this isn't Aegon IV/Naerys/Aemon on steroids. Aemond didn't give two shits about Helaena. No, he wasn't jealous when Jace came to ask her to dance, he just wanted to stir some shit. If we talk about the books, he didn't fucking hesitate to leave King's Landing, his sister, his mother and whatever he was doing for the Riverlands the second he heard that Daemon was there. And he brought the only means of defence they had with him. If he knew how important Vhagar was for the city's defence, he's evil, if he didn't realize it, he's dumb as fuck. Which one is it, Aemond girlies?
People beat each other to the curb about Jaehaerys, Jaehaera and Maelor's paternity like it's the Wars of The Roses. They put Helaena and Alys against the other like they have personal beef with one of them.
Stop mentioning this sweetheart only when it's about praising or hating one of her brothers. No, it's not the only option you have because she's underdeveloped as a character. There's actually another one.

today i am thinking about... being kept company by favs while in a low spoons/introverted kind of mode..
(Just some general hcs and such, g/n reader, referred to as 'you'! not explicitly shippy)
Characters: Ayato, Capitano, Childe, Dottore, Pantalone, Pierro, Thoma, Zhongli
Ayato would be more than happy to keep you company - he probably quite likes having someone else nearby that isn't a retainer or something while he's doing his paperwork - I'd imagine he struggles a bit with social burnout on occasion too with how often he has to take charge of conversations, and thus sometimes he will request some 'chill time', especially once he's realised that you both benefit from it. He's often left to his own devices when he's doing his paperwork (apart from Thoma coming up to bring him snacks and drinks) so his study is kind of a safe haven away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world (and even when it's not, Ayato would definitely find you somewhere quiet to sit if you need it <3)
Honestly almost any time with Capitano would be some kind of 'quiet time', I headcanon him to be a very quiet individual, a man who lets his actions do all of the talking. It's actually more of a struggle to get him to engage in a normal conversation (especially if it isn't to do with a subject he's interested in), so hangouts with him often end up with silently watching a movie together or engaging in some form of parallel play (he likes to read -- though I can also see him engaging in some low-key, quiet exercises like tai chi, maybe yoga). I may be projecting here (which I think I'm allowed to because we know next to nothing about him and ive latched onto him like a remora fish), but i imagine that he actually struggles a lot with speaking aloud and socialising and will occasionally go non-verbal when he's had a particularly long or overwhelming day, so sitting quietly doing your own things works great for him.
I'm sorry but Childe can NOT stay still for long enough for either party to benefit from some sit-down quiet time, he's a high-key sensory seeker and is never quiet, he needs to be in the centre of attention or doing at least 3 things at once or he'll explode - he fidgets and wanders and asks annoying/insensitive questions like "hey are you done being quiet now?" he can be really draining to be around but if you tell him you're having a bad day or something he can be super sweet, bringing you treats and gifts and letting you snuggle up to him!
Chill time with Dottore is... unnerving, to say the least. After a mini questionnaire about your day and what led up to you feeling like this, he finally lets up and allows you to sit with him as he goes about whatever business, but eventually you find that he keeps glancing up at you with increasing frequency, his head tilted to the side as he just... observes you.
Pantalone probably chuckles and teases a bit, something along the lines of "oh, you couldn't even go a whole day without me? How sweet." He's another one who doesn't fully understand why someone might want what is essentially 'alone time' in tandem with another person, but he's fine with it as long as you aren't in the way or being distracting, though I feel like he could be kind of strict about it, especially when he's highly stressed, it feels more like being in detention than anything else.
Pierro probably enjoys it (but would never admit it), he probably won't even acknowledge someone walking into the room unless they speak to him directly, so it's really easy just to walk in and sit on a chair near him and just enjoy his presence (though he totally has that old man throat clear/sneeze). Bonus points if you bring him a coffee - he'll tell anyone who walks in looking for you that you're working on something for him and should be left alone.
Thoma is in a similar situation to Childe but he actually knows how to regulate himself well enough to not disturb or bother you - if he has some kind of quiet chore to sit down and do (like folding laundry, sewing or knitting) then he's more than set to keep you company for a while - he'll also offer to make you food and drinks, just like he does when you're sad or upset. I think he struggles to differentiate between upset/just needing some quiet time, but he really does mean well!
I think Zhongli would kind of struggle with the idea at first, it's kind of a non-traditional way of hanging out that he's not used to, he's such a talkative person and will just infodump about the first things that come to his mind because he likes to share things with you, but once he's warmed up to the idea he's more than happy to just sit in the same room while he works on some paperwork for the funeral parlor or reads, only occasionally breaking the silence to tell you something he's deemed to be very interesting or important.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
My favorite thing about Javier probably isn't too unique, but it's his love of music. His guitar clearly means a lot to him, too - it's a very large and impractical object to have to carry from place to place for a man whose lifestyle requires packing light, and yet he always makes sure it comes along with him, even after Blackwater. Some of the others must recognize this too, because his guitar is taken from Shady Belle to Lakay when he's not there and no one knows for sure he's even still alive.
His music is, at the very least, a connection to his homeland and his culture, and allows him to share some of it with his new family in a way even the less "enlightened" members can appreciate. (I also have some personal headcanons about him learning to play from members of his family, and the songs he sings being ones that were passed down through several generations of Escuellas.)
Also, I imagine he sometimes feels that scar on his throat, remembers how someone almost succeeded in killing him but failed, and then thinks, "Fuck you. Not only am I still alive, I can still sing, too. You couldn't take my life or my voice, pendejo."

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Probably MorganMatthews (Hosea x Arthur). Not a fan of Dutch x Arthur either, but at least they're closer in age (closer than Arthur and John by 2 years, actually, which is freaky to realize) and Dutch has more of a history of manipulative behavior toward those he considers lovers, so I could see it as a super toxic/dark ship. With Hosea, it squicks me out because it feels OOC for both parties.
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
I love writing Arthur, mostly for Charthur fics, but I do other ships and Gen fics with him too. In shippy fics I love showing the more introspective, curious, intelligent side of him, while also letting him be softer and more vulnerable than he usually gets to around someone safe. (Charles in particular works for this, because he and Arthur are both equally capable of surviving and defending themselves on their own. Neither one has to play "protector" or "enforcer" when they're together, they can just be.)
I also like to whump him so he can get some TLC from the people in his life afterward. (I feel like the only time the poor guy ever gets to rest is when he's near death - and sometimes not even then.)
As for dislikes... Personally I don't have too many for Arthur. He's a versatile multifaceted character who canonically plays a lot of roles for a lot of people. I don't even mind the meaner, "darker" versions of him, since he's just as capable of being cruel and callous as he is gentle and sweet. That makes him challenging to write too though, because while I love making him sweet with his loved ones, it's a little too easy to woobify him in that space, so I'm always conscious of that and try hard not to remove all of his rough edges. (Just like Micah, he's not Arthur with all his edges smoothed off.)

FFVII Rebirth thoughts (Spoilers for everything)
I reemerge having finished Rebirth after four weeks and 92 hours in-game playtime. That’s an incredibly short but also massive amount of playtime for me, Yakuza 0 took me a year with pauses. I’m still reeling after finishing chapter 13, and since all my FF buddies from the old days are long gone, I’ll just vent here. I enjoy reading the reactions and thoughts of other players, so maybe someone else does too?
This post is full of spoilers and Shinra fangirling, but it’s about the whole game:
Shinra:
First, somebody on the team that wrote material for the Turks and Rufus must be some Shinra fandom veteran grown up with 20 years of fanon. Just Elena as a whole, Rude getting her that ice cream, Rufus in the Gold Saucer harassing fighting Cloud for fun, Dark Star not only obeying Rufus but also Tseng. Rufus complaining that Tseng is being overprotective… (faints) So much crack and shippy moments, I was grinning like an idiot.
(Is crack fic even a thing anymore? It feels like they’ve gotten rarer)
I expected maybe three or four scenes with the Turks, maybe less for Rufus. AND THEN SQUARE SHOVED THEM IN WHEREVER THEY COULD WITHOUT DERAILING THE PLOT. Elena was given so much room to breathe. Same for Rufus. Those little moments with Darkstar. I’m over the moon.
Okay, Rufus, so your father got stabbed, and the first thing you did after that was recording some motion-capturing and dialogue for a Turk recruitment hologram-video-thingy in an abandoned facility? It makes zero sense, but it’s my favourite protorelic mission and I’ll happily add it to my headcanon as a sign that Rufus gave Tseng his okay to recruit more Turks.
(The real answer would probably be automatically generated AI shenanigans, but that’s not very exciting.)
Viceroy Saruf. Just … Rufus, you’re such a cheeky idiot and I love you. Is there any faction in this world you’re not manipulating from the background? I can’t shake the feeling that being the man in the shadows suits you more than actually openly running the company.
Tseng and Reeve were great, I would love more little moments like that, where the Shinra folks just interact outside of action scenes and dramatic moments. The talk Tseng had with Reno and Rufus in Remake after the Sector 7 collapse hit the same note for me. I want more Reeve in part 3.
The scene between Tseng and Aerith at the temple made my eyes misty, but I wish it had been longer. Tseng keeping it short and abruptly leaving to "make a report" was perfect, and I know Cloud being so cold and cutting Aerith off fits his behaviour, but something about the timing just felt off.
I was surprised that Heidegger would take a bullet for Rufus. For President Shinra, absolutely, but Rufus? Hmm… This makes great fanfic material. I’ve read a fanfic before that tried to reimagine the Shinra executives (even Palmer) as more realistic people, and I found it to be really interesting, but then I’m a weirdo with plot bunnies in my head that involve a younger President Shinra, his wife, Veld, Vincent and the older Shinra execs.
I’ve never been a fan of Hojo but his R re-imagining is one of the few that doesn’t work at all for me. OG Hojo was far more unsettling. R!Hojo is just your typical mad scientist, I just can’t care about him, which is a shame, because him taunting Aerith in Remake with how he dissected Ifalna hit me hard.
I still haven’t quite grasped why Rufus is so obsessed with the Promised Land. It probably all comes down to wanting to be more successful than his father, right? I’m probably forgetting or mixing up details from Remake, Rebirth or the OG here, but I assumed that Rufus would outright dismiss it as a fairy tale.
Apparently there is a Midgar DLC for Power Wash Simulator. Square Enix, where is Hitman: Tseng and a version of Yakuza where I can play the Turks dealing with dumb crap doing missions in Midgar? Give us Shinra fans something, I'm still waiting for the EC version of Before Crisis. And I don't even like gacha mobile games. >:(
General game thoughts:
The open world is fantastic, I want to live in Gongaga or Kalm. So pretty. People online seem to hate the Gongaga map, but the soundtrack and the jungle theme made it work for me. I found the gliding parts in Cosmo Canyon far harder to navigate.
Shinra Manor is terrible with Vincent being it’s only redeeming part. The actual mansion looked great (the portrait of President Shinra was a nice touch) but the upper levels being inaccessible and turning it into another lab dungeon was boring. Same for the box throwing mini-game.
Dio the archaeologist turned body-builder is great, but Shinra knowing about the keystone and just not bothering to use it when President Shinra was looking for the Promised Land is a weird plot hole. It would have been a lot easier than trying to convince Aerith to come to them. There were some other little details like that, that bothered me but it’s a blur now.
Remake Barett made me into a Barret fan, Rebirth Nanaki into a Nanaki fan. The writers are genius when it comes to rewriting these characters from the OG. I’m not really bothered by Cid not being grumpy and swearing all the time. Him reminiscing about Ifalna was cute. Vincent using his old Turk skills (and having some lingering loyalty to the job?) was cool. Really looking forward to seeing how they’ll handle Lucrecia, the one character in FFVII I'm so conflicted about.
I’m still confused about Aerith’s death scene, especially the cuts where she’s lying in her own blood and then isn’t. I understand that she’s dead in her current reality, but is the scene without blood (and Aerith "waking up" in Cloud’s arms) Cloud’s hallucination or just a different reality? I’m also utterly confused by how many Aeriths we’re dealing with. The Aerith and Cloud we’re playing with and the sleeping Aerith (and Cloud) from the dimension where Zack lives are one and the same? It’s tying my brain into knots, and not in a good way. That’s why I usually can’t stand stories involving elaborate time travel loops or parallel universes.
(Man, why doesn't Tumblr allow spaces between paragraphs? I hope your eyes aren't bleeding)
I first played the OG as a young teen. Cloud’s mind being fractured and hallucinating was a neat bit of storytelling back then that I hadn’t encountered in video games before. Twenty years later, I’ve dealt with loved ones who are ill but refuse help, and known plenty of people who have some form of psychosis or schizophrenia. Whilst I would never seriously compare Cloud’s problems with rl mental illnesses, I found the scenes where he sees Sephiroth and no one else, or is completely out of it hard to stomach. Interacting with somebody who has hallucinations (even "harmless" ones) or paranoid thoughts is unsettling at best, nightmarish at worst. The group trying to passively bear it and keep things together rings very true (especially Tifa) but I’m surprised that even Barett or Yuffie aren’t trying to confront Cloud about his behaviour at least once.
(I tried to format in html, but it somehow looked worse. I'm old. This is how Vincent must feel like every day.)
Dyne, Myrna and Tseng talking to Aerith at the temple had me tearing up, and I lost it at Aerith’s "date" with Cloud in Ch. 14. Hoo boy, I know Aerith stalling off the inevitable just for a little time, was the game having a very direct conversation with the player about what’s going to come, death and how we deal with it. But to me personally, it was more about how one gets caught up in trauma and repeat it over and over in your head, mulling about the point of where things went wrong and what you could have done to prevent it. I know it doesn’t fit, but that’s what my weird brain made out of it. Also Dyne’s and Aerith’s (at the temple) speeches about how they deal (or didn’t) with grief and trauma hit me hard.
Damn you, silly anime action game, you really shouldn’t affect me this deeply, but then a lot of fiction hits me harder than it used to.

1; Be specific and unique
For example, the prompt "Sole dies". All characters would be sad, or angry. But the prompt, "Companions travel through a haunted forest and lose each other" has a lot of ways it can go. Vague prompts can be difficult for me to write, as there's often not much to write. Or if there is, it ends up feeling samey, or too short. There's only so much I can write about Sole dying.
Some prompts are answered in canon, and don't need to be answered. For example, Companions react to Sole speaking like the Silver Shroud. You can easily go on a wiki or find a compilation video on YouTube.
Also, I prefer to write about the companions, not Sole. So, requests about the Sole Survivor are likely to sit in the inbox for a while.
2; Be mindful of dark subject matter
Guys. You know miscarriage is a real thing, right? A horrible, traumatic thing that fucks up entire families? And same with rape, or abuse, or anything like that. Use your best judgement asking about heavier topics. These things aren't scenarios to generate angst. They're traumatic events. That real people go through.
I'll never forget following a react blog who was asked to write about miscarriage, only for them to apologize and refuse, as they had suffered multiple miscarriages themselves.
Rule 3; No fetishes or second-hand embarrassment prompts
So, I said be specific and weird...not with your own fetishs, please.
For non fetish stuff, I really do not care for toilet humor. Or anything meant to evoke second-hand embarrassment. This is another 'use best judgement'. I'm very easily grossed out by body fluids/excrement and there's no prompt that I'm willing to do with it.

Fuck it, BORROWER PHANDROW HEADCANON TIME!!!
Also I'm gonna write the Woodrow and Sweetlopek reuniting thing soon dw, just gonna get out some phandrow for the people who came for it :]
They "meet" around the time of the events of the Phantom show, Sweetlopek brings Woodrow along with himself and Dryad because he doesn't wanna leave Woodrow alone on pallet prime
Woodrow first sees Phantom from out of Sweet's pocket (Phantom himself none the wiser that there was a small plus one), and Woodrow was... intimidated by Phantom at first so to speak, reminder that Phantom is FOURTEEN FEET TALL while Woodrow is only a few inches
Phantom eventually finds out about the pint-sized stowaway (probably by accident) and decides to try and introduce himself! Unfortunately however he casts a large comical shadow over Woodrow and manages to scare the living daylights out of him, and Woodrow ends up fainting.
Phantom ends up running-...er...floating? To Sweetlopek worried he's killed Woodrow or something.
OKAY MEETING DONE TIME FOR SHIPPY STUFF WOOO
Phantom would be VERY fascinated by Woodrow, and just the concept of borrowers in general! He'd probably ask a lot of questions about what it's like to be so small
Phantom is always careful whenever handling Woodrow (holding him, letting him ride around in his pocket or something, ect) due to being a larger Rabbid and Woodrow being so small and fragile, Woodrow is quick to reassure Phantom that he'll be okay though! He's survived worse (cough cough, being practically trampled into a pancake)
He has a TON of pet names for Woodrow! Two of which being "My little poet" and "My pocket muse"
SPEAKING OF POCKETS: Phantom would 100% let Woodrow ride around in his pocket most of the time, he'd probably even put some cotton in there to make it more comfy! Also he's probably carry him around in a purse like some celebrities do with their dogs lmao
If Phantom can coax him into it, Woodrow would probably try reading some of his poems to Phantom, who in turn would try and protect the both of them from any misfortune that would come their way, which Woodrow is very grateful for
Phantom would also try and sing for Woodrow! But he'd be careful about it, Woodrow is small meaning he is more sensitive to loud noises, so phantom would be sure to lower his voice when singing to his little audience (begging the question, does Phantoms gramophone have something to change the volume with?
Bonus Woodrow headcannon kinda:
Can't get the mental image of him trying to properly write a poem with a pencil 5 times his size out of my head, he'd probably end up just breaking off the lead tip and using that! (For scale it would be about the size of sidewalk chalk for him)

is there anything you don’t like to write? ━━ hmm.. non-con for sure. i don't do well with heavy action scenes either, or explicitly graphic violent/gore scenes. im a bit too squeamish for that :(

what are your age hcs for tatsuki and soutarou? and misc hcs for urotsuki?
Gonna be blunt, head is a cluttered junkyard and I'm a rambler with zero self control when right conditions are met [you ask about Special Interests]. plus am tired and really out of it from work cause we had inventory and i ordered too many lunchables [oscar mayer can go to hell]. Will do best to make this coherent, or at least intelligible, but apologies if it's a bit of a mess.
Age Headcanons [If we're going for what they are in game]
Short answer: Soutarou is late 20s-early 30s, Tatsuki ranges between 15-18. [tho ofc when I draw shippy stuff it's an AU and they're both early 20s]
Long answer: Actually thought about this on and off a decent bit and could never really get more than a vague, "Somewhere around this area" for them.
Soutarou is somewhere between late 20s and early 30s. He's old enough to have experienced some shit, try to get clean and back on his feet and get some manual labor experience, and have that ripped from him. Plus some time to isolate and have those thoughts wreck havoc on his mental state.
Tatsuki on the other hand is messier and harder to really give an age to. They could be a kid escaping into fairy tales to avoid reality, or a young adult [18-20] that was forced to grow up too fast and is now suffering from dealing with their fractured identity [have thought about Debris endings occurring around Tats 18th birthday, because they have the "You're not a child, so why do you hold onto such stupid childish fantasies?" thoughts to go on top of everything else and it sorta just breaks them.]
Misc Uro Headcanons
Big Deep angsty Uro hc/kinda what shapes her core for me
You might've heard the quote, “I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that." by Robin Williams. This more or less summarizes my view of Urotsuki at the core. She may not be weighed down by what other dreamers have gone through, but she knows what it's like to be trapped in darkness and though it may not show, she is doing her best to make others happy because she doesn't want others to go through that. [side note: this is huge part of reason for shipping her with Tatsuki. Feel like they'd be the same, tho Tats is way more introverted. That angsty, "You see through the smiles or notice the little things and softly nudge me to say you understand and are there." sorta thing].
Going off that; for the longest time have hc'd that Uro has struggled with an ED and self image issues in the past and a big part of why she loves food and is okay with being herself, and is so supportive of others doing the same, is because she had to fight to get to where she is and is doing her best to make sure others can simply see the joy in life without experiencing the hell she went through.
More lighthearted/Uro's a goofball hcs
Uro is somewhat lactose intolerant but keeps getting sick because she won't. fucking. stop. eating cheese. Or questionable foods in general. "It smells alright so it's probably fine." [narrator voice: It wasn't fine] sorta things.
Probs mentioned this one before but eh, Uro and Sou are one of few dreamers with a drivers license, and Uro's driving doesn't exactly leave most passengers feeling safe so Sou is constantly stepping in when she offers people a ride. The two bicker at each other like an old couple a surprisingly good bit when eyes aren't on them. This paired with them both being older and able to get drunk makes for quite a scene. [Sabi's laughing, Tats is on the floor trying and failing to hide it.]
She did have a dedicated dream diary at some point, but during a depressive period would start to fill and decorate it with random stuff [silly doodles, poems, stickers , ect], and it's now more like a thought scrapbook or therapeutic outlet for her. Pages that are just her jotting down memories that make her happy have little sticky note bookmarks so she can flip through them when feeling down.
Her head is a mess and all over the place, and her counting sheep is like a ritual she semi-depends on to fall asleep since it gets her to focus on one thing and relax [its a sorta behavioral dependency that if she was somehow barred from doing, she'd probs stress out and not be able to sleep.]

I love writing about Husk from Hazbin Hotel, and I can write (almost) whatever sort of Huskpost you want to see from me, from sweet and fluffy to outright nasty! You can check my Masterlist post or my "irk huskposts"/"hazbin hotel husk x reader" tags to get a feel for what I do here.
I pretty much exclusively write for Husk. Of course I can include other characters as side characters, I love this whole cast, but Husk is the one my brain wants carnally right now.
Prompts don't need to be shippy! I don't mind doing angst, slice-of-life, headcanons; just give me an excuse to yell about Husk.
That said, I don't want to write any canon/canon ships with Husk for now, not even Huskerdust. I don't hate Huskerdust! I'm just a huge baby when it comes to shipping my F/Os with other canon characters when my obsession is new. Give me a year or two, and maybe some more canon. But until then, my relationship with Huskerdust will be nothing more than passive appreciation.
When it comes to Reader inserts, I'll do any gender and body type! I tend to default to GN!Reader and AFAB due to personal experience, but I'll write any identity, including trans readers. Everyone is welcome here! Husk is pansexual and gender-blind, of course he doesn't judge! I do concede that I don't possess a dick and any attempts at writing a reader with one might be inaccurate, but I'll do my best.
I'm fairly open to kinks and have no moral judgment toward anything in fiction. There may be a very small amount of kinks I won't write, and I do reserve the right to reject anything I don't feel comfortable writing, but do know that any rejections don't come with moral judgment. We're all bound by a desire to fuck an old undead cat, none of us has any right to judge anyone.

If you have the time: What HCs do you generally maintain regarding what Jean and Kaeya might want from each other in a relationship, and how that might differ (or resemble) what they'd want from a relationship as a broad concept? Thinking in more of a shippy sense (but any way is a good way :>)
An excellent question! :> Hopefully I can answer it with some degree of comprehensibility, I've had a Day on top of a Week but the thought of getting to yell about these two helped me power through, so I am going to answer it now.
"In more of a shippy sense" is actually a little bit of a hang-up because while I write it romantic now and then for the sake of specific narratives, my dominant favorite vibe/headcanon for Jean and Kaeya is "aromantic Kaeya, wlw-leaning Jean, some variant of FWBs/having sex as an extension of intimacy and comfort with each other." XD;; But even that is a relationship, if not of the traditional sort! So, some predominating headcanons that feed into most of my thoughts/AUs/narratives about them:
"Jean, Diluc, and Kaeya were childhood friends" is a fairly essential background piece for me in most contexts. Which, like, it's foundational to all my feelings about the three of them to the extent where trying to write/think of something where it's not true feels like an AU to me even though it's quite possible to derive otherwise from canon, but. Any intimacy they have, any friendship to have benefits with or any romantic feelings they might harbor, is intertwined for me with being familiar with each other in the way that you are with someone you've known a good long time.
As an extension, on Jean's side of things, I write (or at least spin up) a lot of Jean/Kaeya set close in the aftermath of Diluc leaving, because Jean seeing Kaeya as the friend who stayed with her, and supported her through the troubles with Eroch and when she became Master of the Knights and onward through the present day, also feels foundational to me. Whether or not either of them had any romantic relationship with Diluc, there's just so many upheavals there, with someone they both trust leaving and then all that treachery to root out of the Knights, that them bonding over that is another major part of their relationship to me though, again, it's not necessarily canon.
So one thing I headcanon that they want from each other is, among other things, comfort! Both the comfort of familiarity and the comfort of being banded together against the forces they had to face. Even if I wrote them getting together closer to present day, that would be a huge element of it.
And with that- I was going to say trust, but I feel very strongly that Kaeya does not want people to trust him, and Jean falls under that umbrella. I would say rather, instead of trust, knowledge of each other--which remains in tension, I think, with Kaeya's fear of being known. But I don't think that fear doesn't mean he doesn't want it, on his end. I firmly believe that part of his orbiting around Diluc is because he thinks Diluc knows and sees him and he does crave that, even believing that Diluc hates him for what he sees, and I think deep down he wants to be seen and loved (and that can apply here in a friendship sense, in a familial sense, or in a romantic sense depending on how I'm casting his relationships with people at that moment). But in the meantime, Jean knowing that he has secrets and not prying is as close as he can get! Meanwhile, Jean is presenting a front to the world that she needs to have supported, both professionally and because it's her whole life, but to have someone who can see beneath it, while annoying and inconvenient at times, is also something she craves.
In terms of similarities/contrasts: I think that this is something Jean wants from any romantic relationship, deep down, whether she's acknowledging that or not. (This song is the top entry on my Jean/Lisa playlist, but I think it is broadly applicable to her across most relationships, even if Lisa and Kaeya are the top of my list for song narrator. XD) I don't think it's something she uniquely wants from Kaeya, or that he can uniquely provide--I actually feel like the ways I ship her with him and with Lisa, in particular, are similar in a lot of broad ways, with the differences coming down to specifics.
On the note of Kaeya's wants, fears, and insecurities: I don't know if it always comes through overtly, but a thoroughline in pretty much anything I do with them is, as I've jokingly said to a couple of people, is that what I'm really shipping is Kaeya/Jean-as-representative-of-Mondstadt. Jean's position, the Gunnhildr clan's status and history, and Jean's own personality all make her... a very good symbol of Mondstadt as a whole, and/or the Ordo as a whole. Which also makes her acceptance of him, whether theoretical or actual(-in-fic), symbolic of being accepted by and a true part of Mondstadt. I've opined before that I think Kaeya's loyalties are more strongly to people than to nations or concepts (hence his divide when he's uncertain being between fathers, even if they were somewhat representative of the respective countries as well), but if he attaches his personal loyalty to Jean then it's a way of attaching it to Mondstadt by default, because, well. She would never ask him to do something that betrayed it. This isn't to say that I don't enjoy him being her friend or into her as a person, as well--obviously I do!--but it, idk, is an invisible weight in their relationship, just like Crepus is an invisible weight in his relationship with Diluc.
And that is unique, on his side, in a way that Jean's relationship desires aren't! There is no one else in Mondstadt who can be that for him, even Diluc, who represents a lot of things for him but I'm 100% sure that the nation itself is not one of them. Also, feeding in once again my presumed weight of childhood acquaintance, one-on-one no one else's acceptance matters that much, because no one else I can think of him pairing off with is someone who knew him when he was still loyal to Khaenri'ah, or even when his loyalties were divided. There's a massive difference between Jean, who trusted him from their youth, allowing him to keep his secrets and/or accepting him for what he is, and Rosaria or Albedo or Lisa or Eula or whomever, pretty much all of them people he presumably met after he at least started leaning towards Mondstadt, doing the same.
Sorry for the wall of text, bullet points made the most sense when I started out but they do not exactly. paragraph. ANYWAY it's about comfort and trust and knowing each other intimately, and everyone else they might be with having to build those up from first principles as the relationship progresses, while for Jean and Kaeya together they're already present and it's just letting them come to full flower. meet the mun
1. what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?
I always credit Melissa to a combo of three particular things: a) my personal interest and passion for the Japanese nightlife scene and its uniqueness; b) the movie 'Sucker Punch' (and particularly the character of Vera Gorski); and c) a post that once made the rounds when I first joined the FFVII rpc that wondered if the Turks didn't visit Wall Market for the chili fries or because the girls happened to have the best intel.
And then it was like something clicked inside - I sudden had this 'vision' and Melissa was born after some crafting as a brothel madame who had strong mama bear/caring and nurturing vibes and who had set herself in opposition to Corneo. The two alternatives in terms of earning people's loyalty (fear/love), a cold war of sorts, a lot of fun and layered dynamics to play with from a Wall Market perspective (such as trading intel, working as an informant, etc) and tying in to the game main events.
I always preferred to pick 'minor' muses or to craft characters that fill in spaces and make a world livelier - Melissa just felt right. I guess she works nicely because no one ever thought it was absurd to have Corneo as a nemesis - even with Remake revamping the HBI and making it something else, I decided to stick to my OG view and I was incredibly well-accepted! :)
2. is there anything you don't like to write?
I am very plot driven - and therefore threads that are just winging something and with no ulterior purpose just bore me and I lose muse fast. I like threads to be like book chapters, with an objective in mind - once that's done, I prefer wrapping it up and starting a new one. Smaller things I deal with in asks (although there is nothing preventing me from turning an ask into a thread when it sparks the good muse food).
So I tend to have a basic, over-arching plot line to follow and I enjoy discussing it offline with my partners so we can ask each other what we are thinking in terms of next steps, if a certain event would be interesting, etc. Believe me, this doesn't take away the surprise - I have been hit by unexpected feelings so many times, I love it.
In addition to that, I struggle with fighting/action sequences (I am just super bad at it), overly descriptive things (a room, someone's clothes, a landscape). It just feels like everything I have ever studied about English goes out of the window and my writing turns super dull, I hate it.
3. is there anything you really enjoy writing?
Emotional stuff - of any kind. I have found out that my preferred writing method is one that mixes a lot of thoughts, emotions and bits of lore together, so although a given reply may not give much in terms of objective actions, it will make room for further emotional or introspective discussions to happen. Characters working out their own feelings and perceptions in relation to certain things is a favorite of mine and my replies are frequently novella-like because Melissa thinks (and feels) so damn much.
I also do like setting the scene (as in giving context for a particular interaction) in starters or asks and expanding on lore. Worldbuilding is another favorite of mine and I often make extensive research into stuff that is only going to be briefly mentioned in a thread. Other than that, I'm also into sharing/including NPCs to make the flow of a thread feel more like a book and crafting these small cameos is super fun.
Oh - I do enjoy writing the usual shippy things (including those on the platonic side of things), particularly with Melissa who has such a strong preference for these themes when compared to other muses. However, without plotting (and since she's an OC), it all feels very soulless if I don't know how to get there in a way that makes sense or seems to be aligned with every character involved.
4. how do you come up with headcanons?
I get inspired by different types of media and a lot of real-life references. For general lore/worldbuilding, I tend to leverage from historical or current events whenever possible, all the while trying to tie these things with the existing canon; for muse-specific verses, anything can spark an idea: a quote in a movie, a song, a certain TV show.
5. do you write in silence or do you play music?
I always have music on - it tends to change depending on the specific verse or muse, but I generally have key songs to fall to while writing.
6. do you plan your replies or wing them?
I plan them as a rule (including asks and memes) - even if it's mostly in my brain and as a general line that I want to follow so I can go from A to B within a few paragraphs. It doesn't always work, though - sometimes I rework the entire idea, or get hijacked by the muse and directed to something else instead.
7. do you enjoy shipping?
Yes - I adore it, and building connections and creating ships is something I really like to do, from discussing it to dropping aesthetic posts to a customized tag. For Melissa in particular, they play a large and significant role as she is someone very much transformed and shaped by love and attachment to people, so my ships for her invariably become a part of much larger and complex verses.
This also goes for platonic dynamics - I like the concept of ships because they allow me to visualize a setting/plot much better and build around it with so many little additions that it feels alive and organic. I start creating timelines and events and it is just so satisfying to see it all coming together.
One thing I have learned with time is that, despite enjoying shipping, I like to be able to talk/connect to the other mun offline (talking about it and plotting is fun!) but also I try to be selective to the point of exclusivity. Because I am so plot-driven, I end up building so much around one variant/portrayal of a given character that I just become partial to it and blind to others - and because I don't want to project my dynamics onto duplicates, I'm multi-single-ship as a result (as in multiple ships, but just a single one per each muse - although exceptions sometimes apply).
8. what's your alias/name?
Mari, because that's how everyone calls me anywhere, anytime. I actually get confused/bothered if my full name is used because it sounds more serious and I just think it's either a stranger calling me or a boss/my mother being angry, haha.
9. age?
Old enough to remember the hype re. having a Blockbuster card around here; these where the premium video rental shops, haha (and nope, I never had one, I only wished I had).
10. birthday?
A late winter/early spring child! As a kid I thought I was born in spring and loved it, but then I realized spring is just later in September and that I was actually a winter kid by a few days, haha. But growing up, winter (winter as I know it, mind you) became my favorite season, so it was all good!
11. favorite color(s)?
Used to be black, silver and blue but these days I'm super fond of turquoise and shades of green? I seemingly cannot settle on a single one forever.
12. favorite song(s)?
I am contractually required to always reply with 'GLAY' and 'Yuuwaku' haha (this song is so damn important in my life). Here's an awesome video to introduce you to my favorite band.
13. last movie you watched?
'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' - one of my top 10 favorite movies, one of my top 5 movie openings, one of my top 3 Fincher movies.

I just finished (re)watching 'Nana', only this time I made it to the last episode. I forgot how emotional this show made me feel and how epic the soundtrack is.

'Raise Your Glass' by P!nk, a courtesy of my spotify shuffling things haha.
16. favorite food?
I never know what to say here, there is just SO MUCH I love? I think pasta generally ranks very high, followed by pastel and pão de queijo. On the sweet side, I am obsessed with coconut and paçoca.
17. favorite season?
I might have spoiled it here, but it's winter - again, my winter. Brazilian winter. Tropical winter. The winter I have experienced in the Netherlands was depressing, dark and horrible where my nose bled, my skin cracked, I got shocked every time I touched anything metallic and I was just miserable; I love blue skies with sunshine and something below 20 degrees outside.
18. do you have a tumblr best friend?
I do! I mean, I could just say that I have a bunch of really awesome mutuals and I wouldn't be lying; or that I am closer to some than to others, and that would also be true. But it's no secret that @dojimakaichou is just on another level because Dawn and I talk every day to the point I feel weird if we don't; we don't just talk about roleplay, we talk about everything, we have weekly movie dates, we send each other gifts, we record videos for our families and we spent 10 days together last year with plans for more annual encounters. :) She's my bestie (and not just a 'tumblr' bestie) and honestly I only wish we lived closer but we make do!

ROMICKEY headcanons
They have completely messed up sleep schedules. Mickey is more of a night owl. He prefers to do literally everything at night. Filming, editing, killing, etc. He usually sleeps in past noon if he can get away with it.
Roman isn’t exactly an early bird himself, but he leans more towards this. He’s used to super late/early shooting schedules.
Mickey will purposely disable Roman’s alarm when he’s not looking so it won’t disturb him in the morning. Roman has multiple alarms and he knows Mickey knows this, so he has decoys of the decoys.
Mickey loves showing up on set to bother "help" Roman. If he has to be up early, he might as well stop in. Roman gets him thrown off set most times, but Mickey just sneaks back in and hides in his trailer.
Mickey also really likes going to the movie theater, but Roman doesn’t care too much, so if he wants Roman to come with him, he usually has to let him pick what they’ll watch.
In return, Roman will let Mickey pick what to watch at home, but if he doesn’t like it, he’ll talk over it and nitpick everything. Mickey doesn’t care too much if it’s just a generic movie, but he’ll get very pissy if it’s one he actually likes. So the next night, he’ll deliberately pick something stupid he’s sure will actively piss Roman off.
They both like popcorn, but Mikcey enjoys throwing it around more than eating it half the time. Roman will invariably have to find a way to distract him from doing it, especially if they’re at the cinema. They’re both very aware of this, so Mickey acts out on purpose to give Roman an excuse to distract him.
Roman's a casual drinker, Mickey not so much. So occasionally Roman will fake getting drunk to watch Mickey get smashed for real. Makes him easier to exploit/influence/control. Jokes on him though, cause Mickey’s into it.
They secretly (not so secretly on Mickey’s part) film each other often and threaten to use it as blackmail. A few clips have made it onto the web, but never anything with their faces showing.
Mickey has definitely used Roman’s ai voice changer to make prank calls. Used it so much that Roman had to fix it multiple times and ended up just hiding it until Mickey lost interest. This is a ploy; Mickey never loses interest in chaos.
If he’s losing an argument, Roman will just pretend not to understand what Mickey’s saying. "I don’t even know what that means!" It drives Mickey crazy.
Mickey doesn’t lose arguments. He’s never wrong, and even if he is, he’s going to twist it around until he's right. Roman's used to it, so he just tunes him out atp.
Mickey has absolutely used the "if you had a mom" line on Roman when he was particularly pissed about something.
Roman flies off the handle. Despite appearances, he’s the first one to escalate things. Knives are thrown. Honestly, everything gets thrown; they’re both pretty good at improvising.
Mickey is unpredictable and reckless. Depending on his mood and/or the severity of the fight, he’ll either get turned on and start treating it like foreplay or go batshit and treat it like it's a wwe no disqualifications match. And he will not hesitate to fuck anyone up, including himself.
Then it’s up to Roman to control himself and rein Mickey back in before he does anything too crazy.
But not all their fights are quite that intense. Sometimes Roman just casually makes bomb threats, which Mickey laughs off until he finds out Roman actually has blown someone up before and probably could figure out how to build his own explosives.
Mickey fucking loves that, though. He wants to blow shit up too! Of course, Roman won’t show him how to make them. Mickey has to concede that this is probably for the best.
That doesn’t stop him from making a phone call or two to the police about fake bomb threats to the studio Roman works at. Using Roman’s voice.
In retaliation, Mickey’s computer suddenly gets a lot of pesky viruses, and he can no longer login to most of his online accounts.
They call a temporary truce, but Mickey’s an opportunist, always looking for the right time to strike again, and you can bet Roman’s already anticipated this.

Impression now: this is tough bc i've slooowly started replaying deadfire and i forget most of my impression of him 🤔 I remember thinking that he makes a lot of very funny snarky comments and I liked how they gave him nervous stims esp with his hands. he just seems so done with all the bullshit and i feel that. I do wish he still had some of that sweet ladness left under all that cynicism though... but I think Rake thinks it's a little sexy
Favorite moment: bruh he propositioned Rake in the bathhouse literal seconds before tekehu did... i've been wanting to write a fic about it. besides that, there was a bit in the first game where rake failed a str check and aloth also failed a str check to help him and dislocated his shoulder and I just thought it was so sweet :-) so little rng things i guess... although i do like the comment he makes after you kill the memory monster in the wael dlc
Idea for a story: ok ok u know how i do like. vignettes. well i've been wanting to replay deadfire and sloowly make a fic abt their relationship? starting with the first time they enter the bathhouse maybe ahaha it'll be more playful in tone. my writing's improved a lot since i started the rake series and I still think about one comment I got that said they were so glad i was writing because barely anyone else did male watcher/aloth... 💀 i wrote like. three things and i still feel guilty about it sometimes
Unpopular opinion: oo boy! i feel like i stay so far away from fandom that i dont know what anyone thinks anyways LOL. ig just a general thing for me which is I'm not really a fan of romance? shippy stuff kinda gives me the ick 😅 For characters like aloth (esp bc i. dont like men lmao) I'm mostly drawn to their vibes and personality, and I really liked his whole wizard deal plus iselmyr and the abusive dad backstory ; i feel like there's a LOT of potential to dive into how that affects him that no one really explores
Favorite relationship: with edér :)) just two good ol boys. i like how theyre pals
Favorite headcanon: oo i dont really make these for characters esp if I like canon. i guess i'd like to further expand on how iselmyr functions for him, esp since in game it doesnt seem to follow specific rules or guidelines. does she come out when he's triggered? does she come out just to yell at me for friendly fire or to be upset when my unkillable ghost dog dies? how did he learn to function well in combat if she delivers attacks sometimes ("i dinnae con the spellybooks" girledfriend then woter u doing here? 😔) i guess i'd headcanon that there'd be a learning curve, esp since his first instinct was to fight/suppress her 🤔

PLeaLSE gage headcanons LITERALLY ANYTHING fluffy I BEG
*cracks knuckles*
Separated into normal, shippy, and miserable. Everything nasty is below the big red banner.
Will whistle at songbirds when he sees them, if its safe to do so/won't attract anything. Knows a lot of different calls/songs. One of the few times a random person will see him genuinely smile, is when he gets a back-and-forth with the little things.
Have said before, but enjoys whittling. Crotchety asshole, but he did it to make toys for his younger siblings (of which he had a lot) and friends. If a kid wanders up while he's doing it, curious, will offer to teach them how and gives them whatever it becomes. He doesn't need it, it's just wood. But it seems a waste to just chuck all that work in a bush or whatever.
Knows how to be helpful in a kitchen/campfire/general cooking affairs. Also said this before, was a mama's boy, and always helped her around the house. Very good knifework. Has a habit of going 'behind' whenever he's...well, behind someone while cooking. Their kitchen was small and god forbid you bump into Ma and she spills something.
Knows a lot about creepy-crawlies. Dislikes your standard wasteland bugs, but spiders, bees, ants, stick bugs, etc, from the Old World? Like snakes, very into them. Would be the type to approach arachnaphobes with his hands closed, telling them to guess what he had. It would be nothing. But you wouldn't know that from his grin.
Related, good with animals. He was raised on a farm, after all. Likes most of them. Out of all of the other companions, Dogmeat is the one he likes the most.
Also have said before, but will keep an eye on a buddy/associate/whatever if they're drunk. Like, Gage won't let you walk off with a stranger while you're pissed. And he certainly won't let a stranger walk off with you, if you catch my drift. He hates alcohol and alcohol drinkers, but fuck, he doesn't want that kind of shit happening. It's a remenent of being the eldest child, gotta look out for everyone even if they're pissing you off.
shippy stuff
Extremely physical, but reserved. Won't initiate anything, not even to hold hands. Rarely acts like he needs/enjoys it. It takes time for Gage to be open like that, visibly affectionate. Once he is, though, clingy. Cuddle-every-night kind of guy, doesn't understand why you'd sleep in the same bed if not touching.
Cat-like. Will kinda...nuzzle, bump their foreheads together, lean his head on theirs, etc. If this is brought up he will stop doing it forever.
Will fall asleep if given a massage. Gage would let someone touch him like that only if he trusts them more than himself. Its not a much bigger leap for him to fall asleep with his back to them.
Preferred sleeping position is laying on his partner in some capacity, either on their shoulder, chest, stomach...again, cat-like. Not often he initiates affection, but once he does, personal space is a foreign concept.
Hug-from-behinder
All of these have something to do with sleeping, you might notice. Gage does not let people see him sleep, know where he does it. The ultimate sign of trust from Gage is being unconscious around them. And if he wakes up unharmed, unfucked with? It would take a fucking lot for that person to lose his loyalty and love. They're basically married now.
Seriously, Gage doesn't do 'downtime'. He can't relax like that. It's his partner's presence that helps him feel safe enough to rest for the sake of resting. Doing nothing is more meaningful to Gage than doing anything. Gage is always going, or planning his 'going'. Getting him to stop is a triumph.
Will share food with them. Have half of this fruit, eat the rest of this stew, finish these eggs for him. Won't even realize he's doing it. Gage is kind of a control freak, always wants to make sure everything is running well, taken care of.
His partner helping him shave his hair. Just consider that. Consider them with their hand on his jaw, tilting his head. His stubble scratches their fingers. Their hand is so close to his throat, they could feel his slow pulse with one little movement. In their other palm is a razor. They stand behind him, diligently scraping. His eye is closed, his own hands idle in his lap. Maybe someone talks, maybe they don't. The bathroom is small and the door is closed, and Porter Gage gives them sharp metal and bares his throat.
^ this is the lewdest, vilest, indecent, most embarrassing thing I've ever written, and I once wrote a fic where character A was described as using character B's prostate as a "character V deserves better" button.

Part of the thing with Conner...Gage says how Conner made him feel, how closely they worked together. Even if you get that story out of him, he's not going to mention just how close they would get.
Same thing happened with Colter. Gage always wants to be close to the boss, the guy making the choices. He thinks its of his own volition with Colter—but either way, Conner and Colter got theirs. Regardless how Gage felt about it.
Had something of a drinking problem when he was younger. Did it mostly to feel mature, adult. This stopped when he joined his second raider gang, after the Conner incident.
Every so often, has an episode of some kind. Angry, manic, depressed, paranoid—its very rare but Gage gets into these spells that last about a month. They usually involve him looking over his shoulder, so to speak, looking at the path he took to get where he is. Looking at the shadow he has and the demons in it. Thats largely why Gage is a workaholic, always going. If he stops, he might glance at all of the shit he's been through, and he loses his mind for a while. No one knows, it's wholly private. Gets through his day normally. Its all in his head, no external expression. Nothing in his face, his tone, movement, behavior...you couldn't never see it. You'd only know if he told you. God knows he wouldn't.
Another thing he won't acknowledge—misses his family. Absolute fucking liar, he was really close to them before bailing out of the blue one night. He didn't think about it until he almost died to Conner, and had that one moment where he seriously regretted leaving, and wanted to go home. He rarely ever thinks about his family, and even more rare does he recognize the empty hole in his chest as homesickness. When he does, has one of those episodes.
These episodes end with Gage hardening even further. He shaves off a little more of his humanity each time, whatever he considers a weakness. Its just like whittling.
His emotional walls are a two-way street—it keeps everyone else out to protect himself, but it also cages him. Build up enough walls, you have a labyrinth. You'll lose your way around eventually. If not found by a Sole, or anyone else who befriends and gets close to him, Gage would end in a bad fucking place. Whether dead or alive, he would barely be a person. Just a husk with no rhyme or reason to what it did, running purely on autopilot. He's a raider, so he raids things. No thought of survival or anything like that anymore. Mechanically going through each day until he eventually died. He's about 3/4s of the way through this internal withering at the time of the Nuka World DLC.
