imagine spending your anniversary with Namor, waking up next to him, a smile crossing his face when you’re the first thing he sees. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first or one hundredth anniversary, he will still look at you like you’re the most precious thing to him, because you are.

Personally, I think there's too much about "Ramonda did this" and "Namor did that," but not enough people realizing how the two characters are just two sides of the same humanity coin. It honestly reeks of media illiteracy and shallow takeaways.
Tumblr media
You're not supposed to demonize either of them. What they did was out of their responsibilities as leaders and love for their children. Not only that, but they were at a breaking point after years of torment. They finally snapped after vainly clawing to hold themselves together because they had to be a pillar everyone needed them to be. Everyone around them could fall to their knees in anguish, but not them. They couldn't afford it. Fate was unkind to them, and destiny unjust.
Neither is perfect, but they are human.
That is what makes them relatable, tragic, and compelling characters. While you can find fault in some of their actions, their motives were completely understandable, as is correct.
It's a beautiful tragedy carefully woven by Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole. Consequently, hate seeing surface-level, dumb takes bashing one or the other. It's even worse when these characters get unceremoniously raked across the coals over something as dumb as shipping.
I'm making a case for both Namor and Ramonda for the people in the back.
Tumblr media
In the case of Ramonda:
Tumblr media
Ramonda is a character who experienced tragedy after tragedy since her debut in the MCU, getting no break for breaking as the sovereign leader of a nation.
She couldn't break when T'Chaka, her husband, died.
She couldn't break when she saw T'Challa, her baby boy fighting to potentially death with a Jabari (what were the odds).
She couldn't break when she discovered her husband kept their nephew a secret and killed his own brother.
She couldn't break when T'Challa supposedly died, being hurled off of Warrior Falls right before her eyes.
She couldn't break when she was run out of her own kingdom by Killmonger being forced to beg the Jabari for refuge.
She couldn't break under her fear as the Jabari closed in on them, having to remain strong, shielding a Shuri.
She couldn't break when she saw her son barely alive, beaten and shrouded in ice.
She couldn't break when her children and therefore the rest of her entire family gotten snapped for five years. She still had to rule and lead "a broken nation through a broken world."
She couldn't break when T'Challa died for real this time from an unknown illness he hid (until it was too late).
She couldn't break seeing Shuri break, wailing for her other half who was ripped away from her.
She couldn't break when feeling the vulturish pressures of other nations trying to destabilize Wakanda and plunder them for their riches, preying on their moment of "weakness."
Shuri, the last and youngest fruit of her tree closest to her bosom, was dangerously dangling over an edge in her immense grief.
This is why Ramonda refused to let her go on field, telling Okoye that "she isn't ready" (the girl was talking about burning the world for crying out loud) and that Namor was dangerous.
No lie was told.
Even so, she hesitantly relented, entrusting Okoye. She also entrusted Shuri and Okoye again when they decided not to fork her over to Namor mid-mission.
What did that get her? A beaten up general and a missing child. It isn't like Ramonda knew Shuri demanded Namor's audience (this was cut from the movie), and her kimoyo beads were not on her for contact.
For all she knew (Namor didn't show her otherwise, let alone build rapport with her), Shuri was in immediate danger. It doesn't matter that we know that Namor wasn't going to hurt her. That's dramatic irony. What matters is, Ramonda didn't know.
There is no wonder as to why Queen Mother snapped.
Tumblr media
Was it recklessly instigative to lure out Namor and send a war dog into his home with an "any means necessary" order? Yes. Was it not the best choice to spend precious time getting Nakia and involve her into something she was retired from? Sure. However, you must consider her circumstances. She was in a place of desperation and went to her last resorts.
Again, the first and rightfully lasting impression she got from Namor was that he is dangerous.
The first meeting with this man was him shaking the table, demonstrating his pure audacity by making demands or giving threats ("I have more soldiers than this land has blades of grass"), and being scarily ominous. He breeched their security and was not alone.
Namor had his warriors ambush them at the bridge, despite them (seemingly) retrieving the scientist as he demanded. While it is true they planmed to "break" the "agreement" (I use that term loosely) after meeting Riri, he wouldn't have known that unless he actively spied (doubtful) or just made the assumption of suspicion. This act resulted in Okoye, Wakanda's best warrior and general, frazzled with a taken Princess.
Ramonda didn't know what to expect, but it wouldn't be unreasonable for her to expect the worst in him. Ramonda wasn't going to play Russian roulette with her daughter. This is the one time where she finally broke out, knees buckling from all of the weight, and acted as a mother above all. She also acted in part as a queen, because Shuri is not only the princess, but the apple of Wakanda's eye in many regards. As Shuri told Namor, "Wakanda will not rest" in the darkness of her absence.
What Ramonda knew now when speaking to Namor on the beach (Shuri was safe, Shuri asked to see him, trying to fetch her-breech their waters would be met with an iron fist, blah blah blah) wasn't known then when she made the call (one she couldn't exactly take back here). She couldn't predict a young handmaiden weakly holding Shuri hostage and Nakia having to make the split-second decision to pull the trigger, in far too deep.
The second time she acted as a mother was when saving Riri Williams. Yes, it is true that she could've survived if she didn't swim down for Riri. However, there is a point behind this. It also took her character arc full circle.
In the first movie, Wakanda and its leaders were fine forsaking the lost tribe. They turned their backs and blinded their eyes to the rest of the world. They sacrificed others for themselves. In the second movie, per the choices and changes made by T'Challa, Wakanda and its leaders took a turn for the better. As Letitia Wright said in an interview, Riri was a reflection of T'Challa's choice.
Tumblr media
Refusing to have another case of the N'Jadaka, Ramonda, the Queen of Wakanda, broke the cycle. This time, Wakanda sacrificed herself for the lost tribe girl as "if she were one of her own."
In the case of Namor:
Tumblr media
Namor is literally just the other side of the same coin. Namor has since lost his immediate family, and at a young age, no less. His father died before he was even born by smallpox (he is the man we see Fen putting jade in the mouth of). His entire village and mother were killed by the same colonial diease before being reborn as Talokanil. He witnessed his mother mourn her homelands and die in her life-long grief. Since he took his first breath, his life wasn't his own. The bracelet Fen was given was a promise of his birthright. He was the first son of the new civilization, destinied to lead it before he could make that decision or understand its weight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only did he have to act as king, but he was viewed as a god. That is so, so much worse when it comes down to expectations or responsibilities.
To add insult to injury, he officially ascended to the throne at such a young age. This all happened during the same day when he:
had to bury his mother
discovered Conquistadors' theft of his ancestral lands he never got to step foot on until then
witnessed slavery
was shot and shouted at in a foreign tongue
was cursed out by a Conquistador priest, interrupting his mother's burial, deeming him a "boy without love" and "son of the devil"
Since then, he didn't have a connection to the surface world. He had no love or trust for it, which only cemented itself as he aged. He spent his life strengthening Talokan, nurturing it, protecting it, trying to experience-revive culture-history deprived from him, and constantly moving it away from the danger of surface man.
Namor's audacity is confirmed partially rooted in the belief that Wakanda should take responsibility for what is and will happen all because they decided to reveal the power of vibranium. It put them all at an immense disadvantage (which is what T'Challa was warned of by Ross in a removed scene). Additionally, Talokan is also more vulnerable than Wakanda and has suffered everything Wakanda feared but never experienced (e.g., colonialization, genocide).
After centuries of moving and preferring to be kept hidden (in other words, he actively chose "peace" and avoiding the problem until he was backed into a corner), the vibranium detector was his last straw. The machine, as said by him, was the sign of the times. They couldn't risk that in any way, hence his extreme actions. There is no disputing that Namor technically was the instigator and a repeated offender at that, but at the same time, you need to look at the context. His hand was forced.
"They came while you spoke to the Queen? We should have never trusted her!" - Namora to Namor in Yucatec-Mayan
Ramonda not only purposefully drawn him out (she tells Nakia that was exactly what she was doing, before giving her the orders) of his home, but sent an "assassin" that took a national threat away while killing two of his "children." One of whom was about Riri's age: a child. She wasn't even a warrior. Namor had to helplessly craddle her as she died. He couldn't do anything as her godking-"father," despite her putting hope and trust in him. That especially makes it more egregious.
If you want to consult the script too, Namor vowed to his mother not to have another Talokanil murdered again. Even if you don't want to take Tenoch's and Ryan's answers in interview questions, it's made amply clear that Namor's attack on Golden City was his form of punishment-retribution, not in his original plans or desires.
From the script,
Tumblr media
To the actual cut we had.
Namora is heard stating how much of a risk they were now put in. They have no ensurity Wakanda wouldn't attack them. Shuri has seen their home, equipped with dangerous knowledge. To them, Ramonda-Wakanda has shown capable of killing and going "under the table" while offering a drink above. Let's not even mention how Wakanda has been in contact with other nations and Ramonda threatened to leak their existence.
This realization all happened as Namor was practically having a PTSD trip. We see him hardening, with the same death whistle that played in his flashback, playing then.
Namor snapped.
On the throne, he admits that he was "hypnotized by the panther's tail" that he was blinded by the hope of partnership, an alliance. He endangered all Talokanil and that he seeks to right this wrong. He also says that they will not "move again." At this point, with all of had happened, he-Talokan finally decided to stand up and swing back.

Trust Me Namor
nav // marvel m.list // ko-fi // taglist
✧.* word count: 1.8k ✧.* genre: Angst with good ending ✧.* warnings: Namor lies and is really mean to the reader, also the reader is assumed to be Mayan because they are from Talocan, and the reader is married to Namor
All you want to do is defend your kingdom, all you want to do is make sure Namor is safe when he fights. But why was he so hell bent in making sure you never even touch the battlefield?
again sorry this took like a literal 4 months LMAO I'm working on everyone's requests!! Despite ya'll probably losing interest already PS Itallics are Mayan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“No.”  Namor turned towards you, his nose flared with anger.
“You may be my husband but you are also my king!” You stated pointing an accusatory finger at him, “I am bound by duty to protect you and the kingdom. You can’t stop me.”
Namor glared at you, his figure towering over you as he took a step closer.
“Then as your king I order you to stay here.” Namor threatened.
At this point, the two of you were yelling at each other. The two of you got word of a US Navy officer that was breaching Talokan’s territory. If they came any closer they’d be at the precipice to find Talokan. Something your people could not let happen.
“When we wed, you swore you wouldn’t use your title against me!” You yelled out towards your husband who could only huff in frustration at your stubbornness.
You were hell-bent on joining the other soldiers in protecting your land. Something you’ve done in the past before marrying him. But after your wedding, you had pushed yourself to the duties of the kingdom while your husband defends the lands. Yet, you longed to fight for your kingdom, you wanted to prove yourself again.
But Namor wouldn’t let you. Namor had been adamant about not letting you on the battlefield any time there was any kind of fighting that needed to be done. Much to your frustration. You wondered if he didn’t trust your skills. If he thought you’d be a handicap on the field.
“Do you not trust me in yakunaj?” My love, you spoke his nickname desperately.
You were running out of patience. Why did he not want you out there? You could help. You wanted to help.
Namor was running out of ideas, he had to get you to stay here somehow. So, with a heavy heart, he said something he never thought he’d ever say.
“Because you’re weak.” Namor spat, “I can’t have you dragging the rest of my soldiers there. I can’t have Namora pay attention to you every waking moment just because you can’t hold your own there.”
Every word that Namor spoke felt like needles against your heart as he stepped closer towards you. His eyes were blazing with rage, gone was the softness that he would usually look at you with.
Here standing in front of you, you looked at Namor. Not K’ul’kulkan, the man you married. But Namor, the man whose enemies stretched as wide as the lands of the Earth.
“What?”  You weakly murmured, not wanting to accept what he said. Namor only shook his head, a dark chuckle leaving him.
“You asked me before why I never let you fight. Because you’re not needed there. You’re weak, your job is inside these walls keeping the kingdom in check. Not out there.”
Before you could say anything, the doors to your chambers opened. There standing in the door frame in all her military gear was Namora. Namor, inches away from your face from yelling at you, took a few steps backwards. Throwing his gaze away from your eyes. Namora bowed her head slightly at you and Namor before speaking.
“The troops are ready, my king.” Namor nodded before flicking his wrist, dismissing Namora.
A great silence followed between the two of you after the doors closed once more. Your back was pressed against a jade table carved. You didn’t want to believe what Namor said but with the amount of anger in his eyes when he stated all that. You couldn’t help but take it all to heart.
Tearing your gaze away from him and shutting your eyes tight to stop any tears from leaving your eyes you gripped the jade table hard.
You heard Namor turn in your direction, knowing he’d probably say something to backtrack the words he said. You refused to entertain it. One of your hands lifted to stop him.
“Go,” you stated, “Your soldiers awaits their King.”
Namor’s heart clenched at the sight of you refusing to even look at him. He didn’t want to say any of it, he just didn’t know how to get you to stay. He gritted his teeth and turned towards the door. He was about to leave without the good luck kiss you’d always give him before any of his missions. Though, just before he stepped through, he spoke.
“I’ll be safe, in ki'imak óolil.” My joy.
When his footsteps faded away you dropped to the ground, as you held your head in your hands, letting the tears run down your face. Were you truly that useless to him?
You thought of yourself as strong, someone who could fight beside your love. You thought of yourself as his equal in almost everything except blood. Did he not view you as such? So much so that he’d use his title against you?
You gritted your teeth as the salty tears mixed around with the water around you. Unbeknownst to you, above on the surface of the water, Namor fought tooth and nail against the invaders of his land with a level of ferocity Namora has never seen in her cousin before.
She watched with wide eyes as Namor spared not even a single soldier inside the submarine and the ships they attacked.
When Namor returned, you were already in bed deep in your slumber. A part of him was glad you were already asleep, after all, that means he wouldn’t have to deal with the pain of talking to you after that whole ordeal. But the other part of him wished you were still awake, maybe that way he’d be guilted enough to tell you the truth.
But when he lay on the bed next to you, he winced in pain, forgetting about some of the bruises on his side. Namor’s eyes widened when he saw you start to stir in your sleep over the small sound that left him.
When your eyes were wide open, well, as wide as they can get considering you were rather exhausted and you had been crying. A fact that struck his heart. You eyed him with caution.
“Are you okay, my king?” Namor had to physically stop himself from wincing at the way you called him by his title instead of his nickname.
He gave you a tight-lipped smile before leaning down towards you. Usually, he’d give you a small kiss before assuring you that he was alright, something he’d done countless times every time he got home from any of his adventures. But this time, he doesn’t even know if you’d want to be touched.
“I’m alright in ki’imak óolil.” My joy. He’ll still use it to describe you despite the fact that you have started calling him by his title.
Though he tried to reassure you, your brows furrowed in great doubt.
“Then lie on our bed beside me.” You ebbed.
Namor thought about refusing, knowing he’d put pressure on his bruises. Ones you weren’t able to see in the dark of your shared bedroom. After all, light barely travelled down to this depth of the ocean. But, he decided against it, knowing it would only arouse more suspicion.
So, after hesitating, Namor leaned down again on the soft bed. Only to, once more, groan when his own body weight pushed his wounds against the bed. He then turned to lay on his back. An uncomfortable, yet at this current moment, painless position to sleep in. You frowned at his reaction.
“You told me you were alright.” You softly muttered, letting your hands glide against his bare skin in a small attempt to comfort him.
“I am alright, just a couple of bruises that’s all.” He chuckled, his deep voice rumbling against your touch. “Are you worried for me in ki’imak óolil?
You paused for a moment, the memory of your argument with him replaying fresh in your mind. It caused you to sigh.
“I always am.”
That was the reason you wanted to fight by his side. You didn’t want to be the decorated partner of the king, sitting idly in their throne room dealing with needless affairs only to have a soldier come inside one day telling you that your husband has died. Hours after the battle was over.
You didn’t want that to be you. You wanted to be by his side as he fought. You wanted to either be there if he were to die or to die with him. You didn’t want to stay in your room worried out of your mind every time he leaves the kingdom’s territory.
You couldn’t take it anymore.
“I wish I could be there with you. To fight with you. That’s all I ask.” Namor shook his head, his eyes shutting from the fact that this conversation was beginning again.
“I don’t want you out there.” He started. His voice cracked slightly. The exhaustion of the battle and the lateness of the time had loosened his lips. “I’m sorry about the things I said to you earlier today in ki’imak óolil.”
“I- You aren’t weak, you’re far from it. It takes a strong person to love someone like I.” At his words, you playfully hit his chest.
“Don’t say that, anyone would be lucky to be called yours.”
Namor chuckled as he slowly moved his hand to hold your chin. He manoeuvred your face to look at him.
“I think the same way about you, that’s why I can’t have you out there. I can’t-” Namor closed his eyes at the tears that threatened to leave at even the thought of losing you. “I can’t lose you. I can’t even bare the thought of losing you to those savages. I’ll already outlive you.”
When he opened his eyes to stare at you, you could see the amount of anguish in his eyes.
“You’ll die before I, so, is it selfish of me to try and keep you safe from any harm? I want to be selfish and take all the years I could from you.” He softly spoke, his lips closing onto yours.
“Oh, in yakunaj.” My love. You whispered before closing the distance between the two of you.
Who knew the King of Talocan had such a way with words? Your lips moulded against one another with so much love and adoration for each other that the action itself spoke the words that were left unspoken. Murmurs of apologies, statements of transparency. All of it was said through a single kiss.
When the two of you pulled away, you leaned your forehead against his.
“Fine.” you whispered, “I’ll stay out, but you must promise me to always come back to me.” You held his hands tight, “Always.” You strongly stated.
Namor smiled, pressing another kiss to your lips.
“I promise.”

I mean this in the most respectful way and I swear I'm not trying to argue, I respect your decision and it's me just personally wondering buy isn't this the same thing that happened with Johny Depp that ended his career because people made assumptions before the actual proof came.As you said there is little to no proof and if this woman were to be caught lying after people have already labeled him as a bad guy wouldn't that make you feel bad? Again, this isn't an argument, and I completely respect your decision, but I'm literally asking if it would be better to remain somewhat in the middle rather than just assuming right away? Or, and please tell me if I'm completely missing something and he should be labeled that way.
Hi anon, thank you for being so respectful <33 post under the cut just cause it’s kinda long and some people just wanna stay away from topics like this
First of all, you’re the only person who can decide what your opinion is on this. Do your research and form your own opinion based off of information and your feelings.
The answer? Yes, of course I would feel bad if Tenoch was innocent. If he was innocent, I would feel bad because an innocent man was falsely accused of a horrible thing, but I would not feel bad about my decision or my initial opinion. I am not sending any hate to Tenoch, and this accusation has already put a stain on his career, that’s out of my control and I cannot allow myself to feel bad about something that’s out of my control.
As I have said before, this case has hit very close to home, and I am already a very opinionated woman to begin with. ‘Guilty until proven innocent’ is my natural reaction to things like this. I was very angry and upset and confused when this news first came out, and it took me a while to get my feelings about everything straight. I am more likely to believe potential victims due to my past, and as I have said before I would feel better about believing a potential liar then believe that a potential abuser was innocent.
Also, false accusations are very rare in comparison to actual cases. The reason we see so many people come out with SA stories now is because we have made a society where people feel safer to come out about their stories. (btw, I am NOT trying to convince anyone to change their opinion with this post, I am just sharing my feelings)
If it comes out that Tenoch is innocent, I will stand by his side. If it comes out that he is guilty, I will stand by the victim.
Tenoch is a well-established celebrity, he is well-liked and I believe that he is able to make a comeback if he is innocent (he should only be allowed a comeback if he is innocent. My personal opinion is that he should take a hiatus during this time of uncertainty but I can’t tell him what to do, of course)
Truth will come out, and I will stand by the truth. (Also I do not know a lot about Johnny Depp case so I can’t comment on that-)

Also, if you do not like the fact that I still like Namor and the fact that I am still writing for Namor then you can block me, or simply don’t interact with my Namor content. You are responsible for your internet experience.
As an indigenous woman, Namor is very important to me, it may sound stupid, or chronically online, but Namor and Talokan have become a major part of my life. At the same time, as a SA survivor, I am taking the accusations against Tenoch very seriously (check out past two posts for more information about my current opinion on this topic. Keyword: CURRENT, opinions can change as more information comes out)
It is possible to separate a character from their actor, and me supporting Namor does not automatically mean that I support Tenoch.
Also I can’t believe that I have to say this but this situation does not give an excuse to be racist towards indigenous/latino people because I have seen some people be VERY hateful as of late.

Innocent until proven guilty? Or guilty until proven innocent?
Guilty until proven innocent.
It may make me sound stupid, but I would rather believe a potential liar than believe a potential abuser. The truth will come out soon, and I will base my final opinion based off of factual evidence (whenever said evidence comes out)
It’s important that we take accusations like this seriously. Different opinions are okay at this time, as there is little to no evidence out, all we have right now is pretty much just word of mouth.
If my opinion makes you upset, then you can simply block me, I am not in the mood to argue. We should not be fighting, what’s important is that justice is served, whatever justice is in this case. It’s also important to look into both sides of the story and base your opinion off of that. However, I do not believe that my opinion is the only correct one, as I said different opinions are okay at such an uncertain time, and I respect other’s opinions, we will know what is true when the truth comes out.
I hope everyone is doing well.

In light of the recent news, I wanted to hop onto here and say that I believe that Tenoch is guilty until proven innocent.
I will continue to write for Namor, but know that I do not support Tenoch at this moment. I am a survivor of SA myself and stand with other survivors. I will believe that Tenoch is guilty until evidence comes out proving otherwise. Basically, I have decided to no longer support Tenoch until real, factual evidence comes out saying that he is innocent. I may look like a fool, but I would rather look stupid believing a potential liar than look stupid believing that a potential abuser is innocent.
This is something that I take very seriously. Everyone’s reaction to this is valid, and different opinions are okay at the moment with so much uncertainty, but fighting is not okay. What is important right now is that justice is served, whatever justice may be in this case.
I advise that everyone does their own research and give everyone involved space as they process this. I also advise that you all listen to both sides of the story.

Til Death Do Us Part (And Even After)
Summary: Layla El-Faouly and Marc Spector, and Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley. Ruined, broken, but ultimately, together.
Or; The boys and Layla deal with the effects of being dead one minute and being back the next.
Warnings: Spoilers for moonknight, talks of death, hurt/comfort, author does not have DID, not proofread, canon typical violence, Khonshu is manipulative but what’s new, Jake is really only mentioned sorry guys, cross posted onto AO3.
Tick Tok, Marc Spector, Tick Tok.
Sometimes, if he listened hard enough, drowned out the voices of Steven and Jake and the city noises, he could still hear Khonshu. He could still hear his condescending tone and the shrug in his voice that he always did after Marc was driven to kill.
If he listened hard enough, Marc could also hear the bullets ring.
Was it from the time he was forced to watch as his partner executed those men at the dig site, all those years ago? Was it from the time Harrow looked into his eyes as he fell into the waters? Was it from the countless other times he shot people dead? Marc wasn’t too sure anymore, there weren’t a lot of things he was sure about.
Layla also could hear the gunfire, but to her it was so loud, it was deafening. She didn’t have to listen closely because it followed her wherever she went.
Even now, as she lay in bed with Marc, an alive Marc, it follows her.
He was sleeping soundly beside her, she was wide awake, looking at him as she played with his curls. He was here, he was here and he was alive and he was with her, they were with her. She had three boys who loved her very much, and yet she can’t sleep.
She snuggled closer to him, longing to protect him and keep him safe. She cursed herself everyday that she wasn’t able to do that before.
“Layla?” Steven groaned, stirring awake. Layla didn’t want to wake him, poor guy didn’t get enough sleep. She smiled at him in response, but he saw through it, her boys knew her so well it was scary. “Layla? Are you alright, love?”
“I’m fine, baby.” She kept on the fake smile, not wishing to worry her Steven. “Go back to sleep.” She caressed his cheek, a gesture full of love and comfort, a gesture that she needed as well.
Steven hesitated. He was worried, there wasn’t a moment where he wasn’t worried for Layla. Despite that, he nodded and it went silent.
Well, Steven went silent.
“Oh, baby.” It was Marc, his voice soft and desperate and full of love, he’s missed her, more than anything.
“Marc.” She looked at him as she bit back the tears. They embraced just like they did in the battle in Cairo, and she broke.
“I know, baby, I know.”
She was at home with them, they were at home with her. The upcoming battles will not be easy, but they will be together. They’re broken, but they’re together.
