I love the idea of clothing myself from head to toe in nothing but black with long veils, and a long face-covering so that nobody sees my body, but instead they see my devotion to Satan. The black which clothes me in protection, strength and power, and shields me from the physical world, and allows me to shift my focus to the spiritual and the otherworldly. And the necklaces, bracelets and chains with satanic symbols would hang from me, glistening with pride. It would be such a powerful and beautiful thing.

Acknowledging the Theistic Satanists who are modest, who wait until marriage to have sex, who never have sex, who hate sex, who rarely have sex, who are monogamous, vanilla, aspec, etc. You are just as important. You are always important. You do not have to meet any criteria whatsoever in order to be a Theistic Satanist. You can do whatever you damn well please and still be a Satanist. There is no one way to be a Satanist. The only “right way” is your way. All Satanists are not the same, and that is the beauty of Satanism.

I really went from a scared Christian to a hardcore Atheist and then a devout Pagan. My child self full of religious trauma would have a heart attack.

Smiling at the fact that I get to worship amazing deities and the deities of my choosing. I love it so much.

And I get to show my devotion through makeup, necklaces, bracelets, colorful veils, and clothing that reflects them. As well as food, music, and nature.

And I get to draw on paper sigils that remind me of them, and fold them up and carry them everywhere I go, and open them up whenever I feel like it to see how beautiful, and sacred they are.

Satanism is such a beautiful religion to me. Taking and owning your power, allowing yourself to love and honor your body in many ways, recognizing how much power and worth that you and others have, practicing love and respect towards others, indulging in what we love and desire, and calling out people’s nonsense when they think they can do and say whatever horrible nonsense they want without consequences.

And also wearing black. /j

Reminder that Satanism, both theistic and atheistic, is neither better nor worse than any other religion. It has the potential to be used for both good and bad things, like any other religion. It is not inherently anything but neutral. (But please don’t use it to be a terrible person.)

The most important thing about spirituality is embracing all parts of yourself, including the mess of a being that you are. If you refuse to acknowledge the messy parts of yourself you will spiral and end up eventually becoming a mess because you cannot escape your fate. Embrace it. Feel it. Embrace your mess. For you cannot acknowledge, appreciate, and feel the lovelier things in life without embracing the messier parts of life. To ignore it is to be foolish. To ignore it is to support toxic positivity. You know you’re capable of all shades of the spectrum. You’re not just the color yellow, you’re the whole entire rainbow. You’re not just the pretty little flower that smells like softness, you’re also the rotten corpse emitting a nasty smell and slowly festering. We are all of it. All. Of. It.

Note: You can be spiritual without resorting to cultural appropriation.

Why do you feel like you need to steal from other cultures and claim it yours in order to connect with the earth when the earth is right in front of you, and free to embrace at any time without harming and erasing others? There are so many different ways to connect to the earth, and stealing and harming others is not the way. That is the very opposite of loving the earth and all life. You are harming life by doing racist things.

Why do you feel the need to wear locs if you’re not black when all hair is spiritual and sacred, and there are so many different ways to style all types of hair? It’s okay to love your hair texture. Appreciate it and find different ways to style it and show it off.

You do not need to wear someone else’s hair or culture in order to achieve anything. In fact, appreciating how you look, appreciating the clothes you already have and being creative and innovative with them (aka sewing, painting, dyeing, knitting, etc), is more important and more impactful than throwing everything away to clothe yourself in an aesthetic that is all looks and no substance.

And if spirituality is all about looking a certain way and making yourself into a clone, that is not spirituality, that is cosplaying. You are cosplaying and you have not understood the point of spirituality whatsoever. You have not done any deep thinking or soul searching whatsoever and it shows.
