Okay, I've read many fics that mention Tony's reduced lung capacity due to the arc reactor, but it has just occured to me - there has to be some bone fuckery going on too, right?
Like, I'm not an anatomy expert by any means, but I'm pretty sure this is where the ribcage is, or at the very least the sternum. Right? So how does that shit work?

An AU where instead of Shield suddenly forcing a depressed time displaced soldier and a walking bag full of self-loathing slash daddy issues to work together, it's Peggy telling Tony all about how they found Steve and how he needs to find a place in this century. "I know you're the best man to show him the brighter side of humanity, ducky." And instead it's Peggy introducing Steve to her godson and threatening both of them to get along.
By the time Loki arrives with his army, Steve and Tony are swinging back and forth between maybes and he won'ts. It takes tony flinging himself inside that wormhole and nearly dying but they finally do get there and Peggy can now rest in peace.

Something I think would be interesting in Marvel is if nobody knows Captain America is a real person, like the super soldier program, Hydra, all of that was kept secret so as far as anyone can tell Captain America was like a political cartoon character from ww2 that was meant to symbolize America's strength and sold war bonds and stuff, not a real person who took a bunch of drugs and fought supernazis.
Then suddenly there's this guy who seemed to turn that character into their superhero persona fighting alongside the Avengers, and Steve is always annoyed how nobody believes he's THE Captain America, like interviewers will ask "What specifically about the original Captain America character made you want to pay homage to them in your super hero-ing?" and Steve's just like "The fact that I am the original Captain America."
"No, I mean the character from the posters and commercials during ww2."
"Yeah, that was me."
"Sir, be serious. Are you ever worried you'll be sued for plagiarism or copyright infringement?"
"Considering I'm not going to sue myself, no."
