Chapter 6 - Walk Of Shame (snippet)
"Baby..." A sensual moan.
"Mmh." A dismissive groan in reply.
"Babyyyy..." The moan now more insistent.
"Mmmmhh..." Less dismissive, more annoyance this time as Simon rolled onto his side, giving his back to the nuisance.
"Baby, c'monnnn..."
Silence.
Simon had gone back to sleep.
Or so he let her think.
She wasn't supposed to be here this long. Just a memory of a good night; that's all he had been looking for.
"Fine." Huffed his visitor, jumping up off of the bed. "Thanks for a great night... I guess."

Chapter 5: Looking Good (Snippet)
"Jay, I wanna help you. Really." Natalie paused, "but I really don't want to be involved any more. I already sent you the address, why didn't you act on it?"
"I-" Jay stopped and closed his mouth, swallowing before speaking again. "It wasn't the right time." He lied.
Natalie shrugged again; she didn't believe Jay, but she also didn't want to be having this conversation.
Especially not in this hallway that Jay had shanghai-ed her into, where literally anyone could walk by.
"Look," Natalie said quietly. "Cherry's going to be here for at least a month." She leaned off of the wall as she prepared to leave. "What you do with that, is up to you."

All He Wanted
Posting chapter 4 here because someone requested it so, here you go!! xxxx
Chapter 4: Bull By The Horns
Cherry stared in disbelief at Jay's sullen form standing before her. Hands trembling on the door frame as she held the door open, chest heaving.
They both stood there staring at each other for what seemed like an eternity, 聽Cherry's look of incredulity matched by Jay's look of surly determination. 聽
"Can I come in?" Jay asked quietly.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 ***********************************************
Jay pulled up outside the building, and sat for a while just thinking. He knew that seeing Cherry was going to be 聽hard, he just didn't know it was going to be this hard.
When she had left him standing there, watching her walk away from him and out of his life, she had done so without any real explanation.
"We can't do this..."
Jay had chalked it up to them living different lives in different 聽countries, but if he was honest; that still didn't quite answer the 聽question for him. Something in his gut told him there was more to it 聽than that, and if Cherry had just been any other girl he may not have 聽cared; he would have just moved on to the next.
But she wasn't just any other girl; she was the woman that made him happy, scared and excited all at once. The woman that made him feel like a kid on Christmas morning every time he woke up to her or saw her name come up on his phone.
He 聽needed to know why she had left him after things were going so good between them.
And as he got out of his car, walked into the building and took the elevator to the 20th floor, he promised himself he wouldn't leave without an answer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ***********************************************
They'd been standing in her kitchen for 10 minutes now, not saying anything.
Jay fixing Cherry with an intense look and Cherry trying to avoid his gaze.
He had noticed earlier that her hair was different than the last time he saw her; curly braids now fell over her left shoulder, instead of her usual twist outs or pineapple buns.
He could smell her scent, even at this distance; vanilla with a hint of coconut.
"Natalie's going to be here soon." Cherry blurted out into the deafening silence.
Her panic had been at critical levels since she had opened her door.
What is he doing here? How did he know where I was staying?
Jay chuckled humourlessly. "No, she's not."
Still in his all black attire from earlier, no baseball cap though and the tattoos on his left arm now covered by the black hoodie he was wearing. His nose piercing twinkling in the ambient lighting as he spoke, light glinting off of his soft lips.
Cherry's head snapped back to him. "What do you mean?" She questioned, a panic of a different kind setting in.
Though Jay was literally standing in the doorway, and she against the opposite wall, in her panicked mind things seemed a whole lot closer.
Jay sighed and took a step toward Cherry, meeting her eye making her take an involuntary step back in return, her back now completely against the wall.
"Cherry, we need to talk."
He looked weary, like something was weighing him down. Jay's usually 聽twinkling deep brown eyes were now pensive, his face fixed into an intense 聽stare making Cherry squirm under his gaze, looking at the floor as her mind frantically scrambled for something to say. 聽
Though she was in an emotional turmoil; Cherry could not deny how good he looked, even with the pained annoyance that was painted on his face, his eyebrows arched in expectation as he waited for an answer.
"I..." Cherry started.
Jay was still in his all black attire from earlier, no baseball cap though and the tattoos on his left arm now covered by the black hoodie he was wearing. His nose piercing twinkled in the ambient lighting as he spoke, light glinting off of his soft lips.
He could hear the hesitation in her usually-confident tone, could 聽practically see the cogwheels in her mind turning as she scrambled for 聽an answer to both placate and get rid of him.
But he wouldn't be dismissed so easily.
"Jay... I'm sorry..." Cherry whispered weakly, a single tear escaping down her cheek. "I... I didn't mean to hurt you... I just... I didn't think we could -"
Jay cut her off with a kiss, catching them both off guard, his hands cupping her face as his lips met hers, his emotions taking hold of his actions for a brief moment. The passion and the longing being communicated loud and clear.
Cherry's brain immediately went blank, unable to process anything else except the feel of Jay's lips on hers.
It was a feeling she had been missing - craving - for far too long.
His soft lips.
His soft warm hands.
His smell.
The feel of his firm body against her.
All of it was melting her and her resolve to the core.
It had to stop.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ***********************************************
The very first time Cherry first saw Jay... she knew she was attracted to him.
She could tell by the way her stomach filled with with nervous butterflies, the kind of butterflies you get when going down a rollercoaster or opening a heartfelt gift.
He had a warm yet slightly goofy demeanour about him, quick to laugh and even quicker to smile.
Sat in one of those office chairs, idly spinning back and forth as he joked with one of his artists. No cap on his head, his jet black curtained hair gently falling into his eyes as he laughed, his nose piercing sparkling in the glow from the overhead spotlights.
A full sleeve of tattoos on his left arm in which he held a phone, and a compass tattoo behind the ear, stark contrasts to his easy-going and lighthearted character.
Though Cherry hadn't been too familiar with Jay, she had heard little things here and there. She was aware he had achieved a lot and had set a new tone for the Korean music scene.
But as he wasn't the objective of her visit, Cherry didn't plan on paying him any more mind than necessary.
Her whole reason for being in Korea was a 'working holiday' - that is, she got an email from a friend inviting her to come and visit and so, after making a list of all the STEM facilities in Korea and surrounding Asia, she accepted and booked her tickets.
Cherry was not there to get familiar with anyone.
But when she first met eyes with Jay, the familiarity was already evident on both ends. His voice was a melody her heart danced to and every time he spoke it skipped beats.
Though, they hid it well; brief yet polite hellos, a quick introduction followed by light impersonal group chatter, leaving no room for intimate conversation.
However, that didn't last long.
Raw attraction can never be fought, only deferred.
Something they would both come to learn and appreciate.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ***********************************************
Gathering every ounce of determination she could muster, Cherry pushed him away, shaking her head almost as if she were trying to shake the feelings out of her head. "No, Jay..." She whispered. "We can't... I can't..."
"Why?" His tone had hardened considerably now, the sharpness of his jaw accentuated by his teeth set on edge.
Feeling Cherry push him away had hurt Jay, badly. But though it hurt, he kept stoical; he didn't come here to let one half-assed push keep him away from what he came for.
He stepped back leaning against the opposite wall again, lifting his foot to rest back on the wall behind him and crossing his arms, fixing Cherry with a hard stare that made her wince.
She had never seen this Jay before; his gaze burning with a simmering anger as he stood regarding her like a tiger ready to pounce.
Cherry swallowed thickly, remembering Jay's plus one earlier as her face settled into one of flimsy defiance, her lower lip quivvering ever so slightly.
"Why do you care? You got over it pretty quickly," she laughed humourlessly, a feeble attempt at making light of the situation but still bowing her head quickly to hide the hurt.
Now it was Jay's turn to swallow.
"You left." He said harshly.
"I did." Said Cherry closing her eyes against the accusation, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jay had wanted to add, "Didn't I mean anything to you?" 聽but he didn't dare sacrifice anymore of his pride.
Cherry stood in silence as she watched Jay regarding her with such smouldering rage. His eyes, though in shadow from his hair falling into his face, shone with such ferocity they practically glowed.
Cherry took in a breath, shaky with uncertainty.
She didn't want to say something that could exacerbate things in any way.
"We were moving too fast," she offered lamely.
"Bullshit!" Jay spat, his body trembling with anger.
His voice, though spoken in a low tone, nonetheless dripped with venomous enmity that Cherry could feel all the way to the pit of her stomach.
Had they been moving too fast? Probably.
But it had been at a pace, and in a direction they both were mutually being pulled in.
So she was going to have to do a lot better than that.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ***********************************************
The first night he had met her, she had come to the office. Not on any official business, but as a friend of a friend of someone Jarv knew.
Cherry walked in, and it was as if the air left the room.
Her hair was worn in a twist out that she had piled on top of her head in a messy pineapple, with a white silk scarf as a headband. With her 聽melodious laugh and mellifluous tone, Jay immediately thought of the singing muses in Hercules.
Her warm smile, and easy-going nature belied the font of intelligence beneath. Her Korean wasn't good (but then this was her first time being here), and her personable countenance meant she had no shortage of volunteer teachers in the office.
After a slightly awkward hello, Jay had kind of just sat back and watched, observing her behaviours and mannerisms.
The way Cherry tilted her head when in conversation.
The way her face lit up as she turned her face to laugh.
Her grace.
Her quiet confidence, even in a room of strangers in a foreign land.
And then he had gotten to talk to her.
Really talk.
After coming back from the bathroom to find her seat taken, Cherry 聽took the only available seat next to Jay.
As the group conversation was already on music, through their seperately voiced opinions they fell into their own private conversation, getting into a lively debate on which year was the best for RnB and hip-hop, and paying hommage to the blues singers of the 30s, 40s and 50s.
They didn't get to talk for long, Cherry (and her friend) had only come by to meet Jarv for dinner, but as his session had run a little late, they sat and chatted with everyone while they waited.
Jay himself was supposed to be working. He had only meant to casually partake in the conversation so as not to be rude.
But after Cherry walked in, he found himself subconciously pushing his responsibilities to the side, at the promise of being in her prescence just a little bit longer.
And, all things withstanding; it was a decision he was still yet to regret.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ***********************************************
"Cherry, I let you in. I didn't force you, I didn't buy you; you wanted to be there just as much as I wanted you there." Said Jay, in the same hard tone, nostrils flaring. "You didn't tell me we were 'moving too fast' when I gave you the passcode to my home; the place where I live."
He paused here, letting that fact sink in; she literally had unfettered access to his private domain.
Not even any of the AOMG/H1gher guys besides Chase had been to Jay's home before, making Cherry's rapid admittance all the more siginificant and indictive of the deep relationship that had been blossoming between them.
"And I didn't tell you we were 'moving too fast', when I skipped out on performing at HipHop Playa so I could spend time with you in Thailand."
Cherry's head had been bowed as Jay spoke, each point he was making needling her in ways she didn't want to handle.
When Jay mentioned Thailand she involuntarily looked up, her cheeks damp with the tears she had been silently shedding as Jay continued on his emotional tirade.
Thailand had been a trip of a life time, and it had been completely spontaneous. Brought on by a combination of Cherry leaving to go back home, the hard work she had been putting in and Jay's desire to make a positive impact while also giving himself to time to be with her and only her before he had to say goodbye.
They both remembered that trip; her of the feeling when he told her to pack a bag, and he of the look on her face when she realised he had planned something special.
Jay should have been perfoming with some of the boys, promoting their latest single, but since he'd already perfomed it twice on national televison with them, and since it was 4 days before Cherry was leaving for home, he decided he needed to take that time to make sure she would come back to him.
Bringing up a trip she had never asked him for was a little unfair, but Jay wasn't trying to throw it in her face; he was 聽just showing her how inadequate her pitiful reasonings were.
"And now, you want to tell me we're moving too fast?" He finished in a dangerously low tone.
Cherry chewed her lip anxiously as she tearfully gazed up at him. She didn't know what to say, and it was written all over her face.
She was stuck.
After avoiding and practically ignoring her for the whole day, even going to lengths to skip out on a meeting that had been 6 weeks in the making, here Jay was; in her house demanding answers from her.
Though he hadn't touched, spoken to or about her in almost 6 months, Jay had daydreamed this moment over and over every single day since she had left.
What he would say to her, what she would say to him, how they would reconcile and how everything would again be right in his world.
But looking at her now, her cheeks streaked with silvery tears, nervous angst etched onto every feature of that same beautiful face that had haunted Jay's conscious and subconscious thoughts for a whole year, he now realised that this situation was not going to play out in the way he had hoped.
The thought sobered him and he sighed, stepping towards Cherry again, his pent up anger now spent.
Though the frustration still remained, he had softened considerably.
Reaching for her, he wrapped her in a warm hug; a protective blanket Cherry had been missing for longer than she cared to admit.
The last time he had held her like this, she had crushed his heart - and hers.
His arms enveloped around her as he gently rocked her side to side as her tears fell.
Jay was never a person who could be angry for long; he simply wasn't built like that. It took a lot to get him angry to begin with, and even then he would rather walk away, choosing instead to be calm rather than explode.
Him confronting Cherry in this way was so out of character for him, but at the same time it felt necessary. He hadn't been able to get over her no matter what or who he did.
And judging by the way Cherry clung to him, burying her face in his chest; the feeling was mutual.
As he listened to her heartfelt soft cries, he realised he didn't care about the Why anymore; all he cared about was this moment, the chance after so long to have her in his arms again, where she wasn't pushing him away or trying to put up a wall.
Where she leaned on him the same way she always did in the short time they had gotten close to each other; counting on him to protect her from whatever it was out there. Outside of them.
Jay looked down at her; at her long eyelashes wet with tears, her nose red and sniffling. He could feel her trembling against him, and the feeling he had about something being not right about the way she had left intensified.
Jay opened his mouth to speak soothing words which he thought might coax her into a level of comfortability that would allow him to get the answers he was loooking for. And present him with an opportunity to talk her off the existential ledge she seemed to be committing to clinging to.
Until a shrill sound split the still air with its cacaphony, causing them both to jump out of each other's arms and look towards the bedroom, where Cherry's phone continued to ring, and ring, and ring, and ring.

Chapter 3: Seoul Survivor (Snippet)
Jay 聽walked down the hallway, his soft footsteps inaudible on the thick AOMG 聽carpeting.
As he neared the end of the hall, a soft laugh stopped him 聽dead in his tracks, his heart beginning to race.
His palms felt sweaty, 聽and he felt hot flushes all over his body.
He came to a stand 聽still, just listening.
He couldn't hear every word, just bits and 聽pieces, but that laugh; that soft laugh carried through to his ears as 聽clear as a bell.
He swallowed as he stood there, listening to that laugh he hadn't heard in 6 months.

Chapter 2 - Out Like A Light (Snippet)
Gabriel 聽Caron was a model. Well, he was when he wasn't being a bartender. He 聽had done some catalogue shoots, a few campaigns here and there, and 聽walked in a fashion show or two. But unfortunately for Gabriel, 聽modelling work wasn't coming as regularly as his bills and so to make 聽ends meet, he works the bar scene.
Though, Gabriel didn't see it 聽as unfortunate; sometimes the opportunities that present themselves in 聽bars can be more valuable than what he would come across on the 聽modelling scene. Stick-thin, bulimics with drug problems didn't really 聽appeal to Gabriel's sensibilities; he desired something more, even if he 聽wasn't sure exactly what that was.
"Hi."
Large breasts and a teasing smile.
She 聽was new here; Gabriel worked the departure lounge regularly (the 聽 proximity of businessmen and celebrities meant the tips were better) and 聽though she looked like the typical clientele, this particular female was new.

Oh BTW: New Chapters every Friday, but you get this one a day early just because I love y鈥檃ll!!! xxxxxxxxxx
1. Home Is Where The Heart was
An exhausted sigh left Jay's lips in a rush, as he entered through the 聽open door and dropped his bags on the heated marble flooring.
Having been away on tour for 6 weeks Jay had a lot of bags to carry; all heavy, all full of laundry.
He paused and took a breath in, savouring the smell of home, the smell of Her.
She 聽hadn't been home in a long time. This was no longer to be Her home; 聽hell it hadn't even been Her "home" for longer than a few weeks, most of 聽which she had spent elsewhere (or rather somewhere else). But since She 聽had been the last person in the house before Jay had left for the tour, 聽Her scent still lingered. And it was this scent that invaded Jay's 聽senses, coiling around his synapses and holding them at ransom as his 聽mind cast back to the last moment he saw Her.
Jay stood watching 聽 Her leave through the polished glass doors of his office building, Her 聽 words still ringing in his ears like a death knell, "We can't do this 聽 any more Jay, I have to go back and live my life..." She took a pause 聽 here, her perfectly soft and plump lips quivering momentarily, almost as 聽if to hold Her back from completing the sentence,"... and you have to live yours."
Now the thing is, when Jay first saw Her walk 聽through the doors; Her soft hair in which he loved to bury his face now 聽framing Her face in a twist-out that beautifully rippled in the light 聽breeze of the evening night air as She stepped through the glass door, 聽his heart had soared and swooped the same way it did every day since the 聽very first day he had seen Her.
His face broke into an 聽unstoppable smile as he outstretched his arms to embrace Her, 聽 automatically breathing in Her scent as She stepped into his embrace, 聽 clinging to him as though She would be otherwise flung into the furthest 聽reaches of space.
Jay hadn't noticed the shine of unshed tears 聽demanding to be released. He hadn't noticed the taxi outside, and he 聽certainly didn't know that it was taking Her to the airport.
He was oh-so blissfully unaware of 聽all of these little details.
She had been going back and forth with this for weeks, months even, ever 聽since 聽their relationship had first begun showing signs of becoming 聽more serious (unbeknownst to Jay). And try as She might, She knew this 聽couldn't work; there were too many moving parts, too many things to 聽consider and too many sacrifices to be made. She thought it best that 聽She end this now before it got too serious and whilst they were still 聽able to at least salvage some sort of friendship from the wreckage.
Noticing She was lost in thought, Jay nudged Her, asking if She were OK.
Now 聽on the way over here, She had already told herself 聽that She wasn't 聽going to cry and do the whole melodramatic stuff; that She was going to 聽keep it light and factual and hoped he would understand.
And so 聽when She quickly lifted Her head to meet his eye, Her face had already 聽settled into a bright and easy smile, belying the ton of bricks that She 聽was about to drop onto the smitten and unsuspecting Jay Park.
Now, 聽as he watched Her leave after begging Her to reconsider ("... you don't 聽have to do this..."). His heart beat harder with every step She took 聽 to the waiting cab outside. He was frozen helpless, unable to stop this 聽series of Very Unfortunate and Fucked Up Events.
He watched the taxi drive away, taking with it the only piece of true happiness that he had ever felt in a long, long time.
And he had let it happen.
BZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
The 聽vibration of Jay's phone broke him out of his reverie with a snap. He 聽thrust his hand into his pocket and pulled it out, glancing at the 聽screen as he made his way to the kitchen.
BZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
He paused with his hand on the handle of the refrigerator, his thumb hovering indecisively over the phone screen.
BZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
He 聽rolled his eyes and pressed the green button, putting the phone to his 聽ear at the same time as he pulled open the refrigerator door.
"Heeeeeyyyyyy 聽bro, whatcha doin'?" the gravelly voice of Jay's business partner Mike 聽came through the phone as vivid as if he were standing in the room, 聽rather than 5,000 miles away.
"Hey, Mike" Jay chuckled. "Not much, just got back."
"How was the tour?"
"Yeah it was good. The guys killed as usual," said Jay, into an empty fridge.
"Did you get any numbers?" Jay could practically hear the Cheshire Cat smile on Mike's face as he asked this question.
He 聽sighed as he closed the refrigerator door and made his way to the 聽living room. "No I didn't get any numbers Mike" Jay said, plopping down 聽dejectedly onto his plush sofa, allowing his head to fall back, eyes 聽staring straight at the ceiling.
"Jay, you are really wasting your unlimited pussy allowance, man!" 聽groaned Mike. Jay chuckled in response, closing his eyes and wearily 聽raising a hand to rub them. "Dude you should be literally DROWNING in 聽pussy!"
"I'm too busy for all that extra shit, Mike." Jay sighed.
"Extra 聽shit? Dude." Mike was all seriousness now, leaving a pause so pregnant 聽that it caused Jay to sit up and open his eyes. "You are never, too 聽tired, for pussy!" Jay fell back into his original position, another 聽exhausted sigh leaving his lips as he landed except this time, he had a 聽little smile on his face.
Mike's dry humour was a welcome salve right now anyway.
"Plus, Jay; I'm married."
"I know Mike."
"So that means I'm living vicariously through you, my dude!"
"Mike-"
"Look, 聽forget about all that anyway" Mike interrupted Jay, sensing he was not 聽perhaps his usual playful self and wondering if he had perhaps struck a 聽nerve.
Mike was quite intuitive, even if he sometimes came off as 聽oblivious. In his world, he found that feigning ignorance can sometimes 聽be a better strategy around people, especially when dealing with the 聽types of sensitive and high-flying businessmen he was used to dealing 聽with on a daily basis.
Or when his friend had something - or 聽someone - on his mind that may need to be discussed away over copious 聽amounts of alcohol sometime in the near-future.
"Remember you 聽have the interview with Vogue Korea about the new AOMG site and app," 聽said Mike making a mental note to revisit this again at a later time.
"Yeah" sighed Jay gratefully, thankful for the change in subject. "When is it again?"
"Friday. 9.30AM"
Jay pulled his phone away from his ear and checked the screen. The interview would be in three days time.
"Cool, my assistant already has the details anyway. I'll check my emails to see when the car will be arriving."
"Sweet. Hit me up later, so we can talk a bit about the Nike deal. But until then; GET SOME SLEEP."
Click
Mike ended the call.
Jay 聽allowed the phone to slide from his ear onto the sofa next to him, 聽bringing both hands up to gently rub his face before dropping his head 聽back and allowing his arms to drop onto the sofa back. The huge floor to 聽ceiling windows directly opposite bathed him in the light of the 聽setting sun, as he allowed his exhausted and aching body to sink deeper 聽into his seat.
As his mind drifted, he remembered a particular 聽evening spent on this same sofa during a thunderstorm not too long after 聽he had first met Her. In fact, there were many evenings he remembered 聽being spent on this sofa (not all of them as innocent as the particular 聽evening he currently had in mind however, but all of them just as 聽enjoyable).
Sharing one of those huge soft furry blankets that 聽She loved so much, with a low fire burning in the marble wood-burning 聽fireplace to the right of them.
She had been drinking Jack 聽Daniel's, and he had been drinking soju, both just talking to and laughing with each other in an atmosphere of comfortability, while 聽 outside torrential rain pounded against the monolithic windows and 聽 brilliant forks of lightening spilt the charcoal grey and roiling sky, 聽 causing occasional rolls of thunder which reverberated throughout the 聽 building.
The dichotomy of the chaos on one side of the window pane, versus the serenity on the other hadn't been lost on either of them.
Every 聽now again She would interrupt the freely-flowing conversation to point 聽out a particularly spectacular lightning strike or a close roll of 聽thunder would make Jay jump, which he would then try to disguise by 聽acting as though he was just moving positions on the couch or picking 聽up/putting down his glass (which She very politely acted like She did 聽not notice, or turned away to hide Her smile - which he had gratefully 聽 appreciated).
Her being in Jay's house had been perfectly 聽innocent at the time, having being introduced through his artist Jarv 聽Dee, Jay had innately felt at ease around Her. She had an easy-going and 聽relaxed nature, with a quick wit and genuine smile. He became further 聽intrigued when he found out that She was a full-stack developer and 聽promptly discussed possibly working together on something some time. 聽Which is how the new AMOG website and H1gher app came about.8
That was exactly one year ago from today and 5 months from the day She ripped out Jay's heart and stomped all over it.
"We can't do this Jay..."
Her words echoed around his head like a death knell.
Jay 聽had spent every waking moment carefully analysing every detail of their 聽interactions - every facial expression, every vocal inflection - in the 聽hopes of being able to at least understand WHY She had done this.
Did he say something - do something - to scare her off?
How, when things were going so good between them, could she just end everything and leave so suddenly?
Jay 聽was aware that he was getting older but, he hadn't really ever thought 聽of what the future would look like for him and who he would want to 聽settle down with. The kind of jet-setting lifestyle Jay led meant he had 聽the luxury of being able to avoid thinking about such things under the 聽guise of being "too busy". 聽And with the fast life Jay led, the women he 聽came across had been just as fast.
That is until he had met Her.
Meeting Her had made him truly question his life dynamic, made him want to change his dynamic.
Made 聽him think about when would be the time to put down the mic for good and 聽step back to make way for the younger artists coming up behind him?
Jay 聽had almost single-handedly built an entire musical empire in a foreign 聽land, which meant he really had to think about who it was he wanted to 聽share that with.
A thought he had never needed to have before Her.
She 聽had awakened something in him that he had been confident was dormant, 聽something which he had convinced his concerned parents and nagging 聽brother he wasn't quite ready for.
She made him think more of the life after. After all the parties, interviews, world travelling, and screaming fans.
Of the life he lived when he was just Jay, the dorky kid from Seattle.
Who did he want to come home to? Who did he want waiting for him when the lights had faded and the music stopped?
The 聽morning after the lightening storm had been the first time Jay had 聽woken up to Her. They had fallen asleep where they sat in Jay's plush 聽sofa, having spent the evening bonding over their respective careers, 聽old 90s RnB and alcohol. Seeing her head resting upon the opposite 聽armrest of his sofa, the golden rays of the early morning sun 聽illuminating the golden undertones of Her skin, made something inside 聽him sing. He knew he liked having Her around, liked hearing Her voice, 聽liked knowing she was OK.
He loved being in her presence, hearing Her laugh, seeing Her focused frown whilst She was working.
He loved smelling Her, breathing Her in whenever he could.
He loved hearing Her footsteps on his hardwood floor.
He hated not knowing why it went wrong.
But 聽in just a few days the H1gher app and new AOMG website was due to go 聽live, meaning She would be coming back to Korea for the launch.
Meaning She and Jay would be in each other's company for the first time since Her departure.
Meaning Jay would not only have to face Her, but once She left he'd have to relive the pain of her leaving all over again.
Jay groaned inwardly.
This should be fun, he thought humourlessly.
Jay reached for his phone beside him and dialled an all too familiar number.
"Hello?" Came the answer down the line.
"Hey, is she free?"
"Good evening, Mr Park. Yes she is free. Regular timing?"
Jay let out a barely audible sigh, his 1000th in the 45 minutes he'd been home. He wouldn't need too long. "Yeah."
"She will arrive in 30 minutes."
Jay ended the call.
He 聽stood and made his way to his drinks cabinet, pouring himself some 聽Hennessey before walking over to the window to take a sip, surveying the 聽evening sky and awaiting his visitor.
The objective of the visit was purely for the purposes of release.
And as Jay's buzzer rang twenty-five minutes later, he knew that's all anyone who wasn't Her could offer him.
