Summary: Reader comes home after being fired. John takes care of her then pays a visit to her boss

A/N: This is an idea that has been in my head for a bit. Finally had some time to put it down. Please let me know what you think!

Y/N slid through the door, dropping her bag, and the box, on the floor with a huff. She took a deep breath as she swallowed her tears down. She had spend the better part of the last two hours crying in some capacity. She didn't want to waste any more tears today.

“Baby?” John’s voice found her before he did. He heard the door open from the bedroom, moving as he heard her heels stop moving.

“John.” She sighed as she turned to him. John wasn’t due back for another few days. Her body sagged in relief as she saw him. He still wore his suit, the style the same for every job he went away for.

Opening his arms John kissed her hair as she walked into his warmth. He felt the shaky breath she let out. Looking at the box by the door he could guess what happened. But he had to ask. “What’s got my girl so upset?” He whispered as he rocked her.

“I was fired.” Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke. Tears began to fall again. She cursed them as she wiped them away.

John held her tighter, anger settling in his chest. He hated her job. He hated her boss, Mr. Joseph, with a passion.The man was an asshole who understaffed his office on purpose to keep more money in his pockets. He had watched his girl wither away. She was doing double the work without a raise or any recognition. He watched as she walked with a heavy gait as she left the apartment. He watched her shoulders heavy and her responses non existent as she came home burned out.

He had wanted to talk to Mr. Joseph. Just talk. Nothing more. He just wanted to go in and make it very clear that he was to pay Y/N what she was owed, that he would speak respect on her name and start treating all his employees as he should. Each time he tried Y/N stopped him. She asked, in her soft tone, for him to let it go. He had- for her.

They had numerous conversations about her leaving her job. He swore he would take care of her. But she always refused. She had grown up needing to work to help her mom support her and her brother. She liked being able to support herself and not having to lean on anyone for what she needed. John knew it had nothing to do with pride. She had been hurt and used time and again. When they had met she always had one foot out the door, waiting for him to tire of her. She came with her own money and was determined to keep it that way.

Holding her tighter, John said nothing. He continued to gently rock her, rubbing circles in her back and placing kisses on her forehead. He looked in the box, noticing all her belongings. A sad smile crept on his lips as he saw the small Lego keychain he had gotten for her. A picture of Dog was visible, as was the rubber duck he had won in a vending machine when they went to the movies months ago. He remembered the genuine smile that came over her face when she held it. q

Y/N cried until she had nothing left. It was the first time she had been fired ever. Granted the job was shit and Mr. Joseph was an asshole. But now she had nothing. God knew when she would be able to find something else. The pit in her stomach grew as she moved to meet John’s eyes. “I’m sorry.”

Wrinkling his brow John asked “What for?”

“I lost my job.”

Gently releasing his hold on her, John moved her to sit at the table as he took a seat next to her. “Tell me what happened.” He kept his voice calm.

“I fucked up. I scheduled a meeting where there shouldn’t have been one.”

“So you made a mistake.” he shrugged. “It happens.”

“Not when it’s the third one this month.” She cleared her throat and continued before he could interrupt. “First I showed up late two days in a row. Well I say show up late when in reality it was like 5 minutes each time. Then I placed a report he was looking for on his desk, which he covered with other paperwork, and he couldn’t find it. Today was the meeting. Apparently it was the last straw.” She looked at him. “I don’t know what else I could have done. He just snapped and screamed at me in front of everyone.” She cleared her throat before continuing. “I didn’t get a chance to explain. He just shut me down. He kept screaming and calling me incompetant.”

“It’s ok.” John continued to rub her back as he leaned into her space. “We will figure this out.”

“What if I can’t find something right away?”

John could see the fear in her eyes as she asked. This was the first time since she began working that she would be dependent on another person. It was uncharted territory for her. He knew he had more than enough money to support her for a long time. He also knew she wouldn’t take it willingly. “We will figure it out.” He assured her. “I think, for tonight, we need to relax. We can deal with all of this tomorrow.”

“I’m such a failure.” She muttered.

Cradling her face John made sure his eyes met hers. “You are not a failure. You did everything you could at that office. Your boss expects too much from all of you.” He kept his voice level even as the anger began to expand beyond his chest. He hated that she felt this was her fault. Her asshole boss is to blame. Not her. Not when she was burning the candle at both ends five days a week.

“How am I going to afford my insurance?”

“I’m going to pay for your insurance until you get back on your feet. Ah ah!” John released one hand from her face as he interrupted her protest. “This one isn’t up for debate. I’m paying your insurance and that’s it.”

Shoulders slumping in defeat Y/N nodded her head. They sat in silence for a moment. “How was the job?”

Involuntary stiffening from the question John took a second to recover. Y/N only asked about his job when she needed to change the subject. She thought he dealt with sensitive client information and couldn’t always discuss the details. “Good. Closed the deal without any issue.” Y/N knew he had to travel to meet with ‘clients’ as he called them. She didn’t know the exact nature of what he did or what he was capable of. He made sure to put the guns and accessories away, made sure to clean and press his own clothes. He preferred to keep that part of his life away from her. So far he had been successful.

Nodding she got to her feet. Kicking her shoes off she picked her purse up off the floor and placed it in it’s spot. Squatting in front of the box she studied it’s contents. She found it hard to believe that 8 years in one place could fit into one box.

Tracing a finger over her shoulder John held his other hand out. “Come on.” He whispered. “I’ll run a bath for you. Then we can order dinner.” He led her to the bathroom, sitting on the edge of the tub to make sure the temperature was just right. He stood and turned to her, hand outstretched. She stepped forward, handing her clothes to John as she undressed. He smiled as she relaxed in the tub, peace crossing her face. Leaning over her, John placed a kiss on her forehead. “Take as long as you like. I’ll be downstairs when you are ready.”

Heading into the kitchen John placed the order from Y/N’s favorite greek restaurant. He pet Dog on the head as he checked his calendar. Perfect. He was off the next few days.

Y/N came down around thirty minutes later wearing one of John’s shirts. She knelt down and scratched Dog’s ears as she cooed. Looking at the table she gave a wide smile as John set the last plate down. He had put all of their food on plates and drinks in glasses. He pulled her chair out before walking over to her.

Once she stood to her full height John leaned forward and kissed her, arms wrapping around her waist as he pulled her closer. He moaned as she pulled his hair when his tongue met hers. He deepened the kiss, stealing the breath from her lungs.

“I love you.” She whispered as she pecked his lips.

“I love you.” He kissed her forehead before leading her to the kitchen table.

Pulling his jacket on the next morning John took one last look at Y/N. She laid on her back, sheets covering her waist, leaving her chest on display. He smiled proudly at the marks covering her neck and chest. Grabbing a piece of paper he scribbled a note stating he was making a run for bagels. He hoped he would be back before she woke.

“John!”

“Linda.” John greeted the woman at the front desk. He had always liked Linda. She was kind, snarky and funny as hell. She tried her best to take care of the girls and always lent a helping hand. Y/N always spoke fondly of her. That made Linda ok in John’s book. “Is Mr. Joseph in his office?” He leaned against the desk as he spoke.

“Yes but…”

“Good.” John ignored Linda’s protests as he rounded the corner to the office. He stopped a few inches from the door, giving Linda a chance to finish her thought. “He’s on the phone with a client.”

“I’ll only be a few minutes.” He smiled as he opened the door, cutting off Linda’s protests.

Mr. Joseph sat up in his chair, phone still attached to his ear, as he looked at John with wide eyes. “Who the hell are you?” He spat.

“My name is John. You fired my girlfriend yesterday.”

“Oh. Y/N.” He huffed, not bothering to mute the call as he continued. “One of the most useless girls I’ve ever hired. She’s lucky I kept her on this long.”

Pushing his finger in the receiver, John ended the call. “I knew you were a prick. But I didn’t take you for stupid either.”

“Is this a joke?” Mr Joseph laughed. “She sent you in here to threaten me to get her job back.” He rolled his eyes as he hung his phone. “I may be tempted to take her back.”

“She isn’t coming back. I’m not here to ask for her job back.” He pulled a pencil out of the organizer Mr. Joseph kept on his desk. “You and I…” he continued as he examined the pencil. “We need to have a chat about how you treat your workers.”

Levi Ackerman x reader

You knew Levi before he was in Scout Regiment(Wings of Freedom). You knew him when he was part of the underground city. You where part of his friend group till your mother remarried then you left to move in Wall Rose specifically the Trost District. You missed him the whole time you where away from him. You’ve always had a crush on him but sadly he only thought of you as a little sister since you where a couple years younger. You have heard about the Levi squad and you dreamed of a day you could join his squad.

Time skip

Journal entry number 100~ I finally joined the Cadet Corps and in turn met my new friends Eren Jaeger,Mikasa Ackermann,Marco Bolt, Conny Springer,Jean Kirschtein,Sasha Braus,and Armin Arlet. I have other acquaintances but they weren’t really my so called friends. My closes friend is Sasha we do everything together (even her punishment).

“Hey Y/N you know you dont have to work so hard you got the number one spot.” said Eren.

“ I know Eren, but I want to join the Levi Squad he’s the best of the best.” You said.

“ Why do you wanna join that squad so bad its basically a death sentence” Conny said.

“ You wouldn’t understand. You want to join the military police!” You snapped.

“Actually I wanna join the scout regiment.” Conny said.

Everyone’s eyes widened at his words. You kinda zoned out thinking about mean others changed their and why. You knew the others where talking but didn’t really hear anything. You felt bad for snapping but you’re tired of people asking why you want to join the Levi Squad. Before you could apologize Sasha came up to us and pulled out a giant piece of meat she stole from the officers pantry. Everyone exploded telling her that she’s crazy and needs to return it. You laughed at Sasha explaining to the others about what we could do with it. Everyone calmed down after awhile. Then all of a sudden the colossal titan showed up with a flash of lighting.The steam knocked us all of the wall but we used our ODM gear to stop ourselves. You looked up in aww and horror but you knew you had to kill it to prove your worth but before you could cut its neck it disappeared right in-front of your face. We all regroup and listen to Woermann give orders for us to slit into different groups. During this Jean and Eren get into an argument about fighting vs being safe inside the walls. I walkover Sasha because she looks like she’s about to faint.

“ Hey are you okie Sasha?” You asked. She looks at me with tears in her eyes and shakes her head.

“ I’m scared but I shouldn’t be I needed to be strong.” She sobbed.

“ Sasha look at me it’s ok to be scared honestly it would be scarier if you weren’t. Plus I’ll be by your side the whole time.” You said with a smile.

“ Thanks.” Sasha whispered. Before I could say you’re welcome Ian Dietrich came over to us.

“ Actually Y/N you have been specially assigned to the rear squad with Mikasa. Sorry.” He said. You looked at Sasha with an apologetic look. She just smiled and mouthed that it was ok. You nodded and left.

Time skip (Sowwy)

You couldn’t believe Eren was a titan a titan that kills others at that. You and Mikasa where in charge of protecting Eren while he was supposed to put a boulder in front of the hole, but that went sour when he attack you both. You both quickly dodged only getting a couple scratches. Ian told the both of you to retreat but ya’ll weren’t having any of it he was family. Before you could protest mire Armin showed up and told us he could handle Eren so you left to help the others. A short time later we saw a giant titan carrying a boulder on it’s shoulder the titan being Eren and he’s finally doing his job thanks to Armin.

“You must protect Eren at all cost even if it cots you your life!” Ian shouted.

You all nod and head out. While protecting Eren you see so many people getting eaten by the titans. Eeren made it though it was a win but we still have to kill the rest of the titans. You look over and see Eren still attached the the titan body. Mikasa had to cut him out and when you looked up two titans had closed in on you, but within a flash they where dead. You looked to see who it was and your heart stopped because right infront of you was Levi……

“Hey Y/N you know you dont have to work so hard you got the number one spot.” said Eren.

“ I know Eren, but I want to join the Levi Squad he’s the best of the best.” You said.

“ Why do you wanna join that squad so bad its basically a death sentence” Conny said.

“ You wouldn’t understand. You want to join the military police!” You snapped.

“Actually I wanna join the scout regiment.” Conny said.

“ Hey are you okie Sasha?” You asked. She looks at me with tears in her eyes and shakes her head.

“ I’m scared but I shouldn’t be I needed to be strong.” She sobbed.

“ Sasha look at me it’s ok to be scared honestly it would be scarier if you weren’t. Plus I’ll be by your side the whole time.” You said with a smile.

“ Thanks.” Sasha whispered. Before I could say you’re welcome Ian Dietrich came over to us.
