cw: jjk manga spoilers (up to 221), blood, sword fights heh + note: it's finally here, and somehow it's worse than shibuya!

“is he gonna be mad?”

“satoru?” you snort lightly, taking another bite of your frozen yogurt. “he’s just going to ask if you won. he might try to take the sequel of that new book set you got as punishment— but i’ll see what i can do.”

across the table, megumi huffs, leaning back into the plush booth. you’d picked him up early from school today, the reason being yet another suspension. his second since he’d started the school year. you suppose that’s the reason for his sullen disposition and existential crisis.

“am i a bad person?”

you glance up at him in acknowledgement, but take a moment before answering. he stirs the frozen yogurt around in its cup, looking rather glum.

there’s a delicate way of going about these types of things. children (especially teenagers) are complicated creatures. they’re still at their most malleable, your words and actions shaping their very future.

“i don’t think you’re a bad person, megumi,” you answer softly, setting your spoon down.

“but i…i keep doing bad stuff,” he argues dejectedly. “and— and i was mean to tsumiki—”

“hey. no one’s born wanting to do bad things,” you tell him. “and when they do…it’s usually more complicated than we think. there are bad situations where sometimes we have to do bad things. even if we don’t want to. even if we’re not proud of them.”

“but how do you know that i’m not?” he asks again, and your heart aches.

“because i know you,” you smile. “i’ve known you for eight years, megumi. yeah, i think you could afford to try using your words instead of your fists once in a while, and be a little nicer to your sister…but i know everything you do comes from a good place.”

megumi doesn’t reply, staring out the window with that pensive frown of his. all you can do is wonder if you and satoru have done right by him. if you’re doing right by him now. (such is the life of a parent, you suppose.)

all you can do is hope.

“hey,” you grin, holding your hand out to him. “promise me something?”

you stumble backwards, narrowly avoiding being gutted by a sword. gasping, your fingers fumble with the hem of your shirt, the material sliced right above the small, almost imperceptible bump of your stomach.

your megumi would never hurt you. your megumi, your sweet, gentle boy who still muttered the song about bunny ears as he tied his shoes. who always offered his sister the last bite of cake, even though you knew he wanted it for himself. who cried the first time his shikigami were injured in battle.

but this isn’t megumi.

you barely dodge the blade again, ducking and sending your demon dogs out to slow him down as you sprint down the alley. your heart shatters at the sound of a high-pitched whine, but you can’t stop, you can’t look back—

“going somewhere?”

you skid to a stop in front of him, staggering back as quickly as you can.

megumi— no, sukuna stands in front of you now, holding a sword you’d taught his vessel how to make, how to use.

“please,” you beg, thinking of tsumiki’s body a few blocks away. thinking of gojo in the prison realm. you can’t lose anyone else today. “please let him go.”

“i don’t think so,” he grins, sick and twisted as he slowly makes his way towards you. “if only he’d unlocked his full potential sooner. if only you had.”

“he’s just a child.” you say, voice trembling. you look around. there’s no use in running. he’s gotten much too strong.

but you’re not ready to die either.

he wasn’t patient, lunging first and taking the offense. it’s a struggle to meet him at every swing, deflecting blows that send tremors down the sword’s point of impact and reverberate through your arms.

playing defence is the smart move. you’d wait for an opening or a drop in his own defence. then your goal would be to disarm him and attempt to grant yourself an advantage.

(in theory, at least.)

when your swords lock once more, he forces them to the side, kicking you square in the chest. the impact knocks you onto your back. before you can get up, he’s on top of you, driving his sword into your shoulder.

the pain is so blinding, so white-hot and tortuous that you almost immediately pass out when he pulls it free and tosses it out of your reach.

sukuna is in your face now, lips peeled back into a smirk as he laughs, the top of his finger slowly dragging down your face.

“putting you down now would be letting this brat off too easy. doing it slowly, however—”

“get off her.”

your heart skips a beat. that voice.

there’s a flash of recognition in megumi’s eyes. just a for a second.

“satoru?”

“is that any way to treat the person who washed your underwear for almost ten years?” he tsks, hands in his pockets as he steps into the alley, quite literally kicking the king of curses off of you.

he sweeps you off the floor as gently as possible, your stomach flipping at the familiar sensation of being teleported.

you’re not in the alley anymore, you’re up on the roof of a building. as soon as satoru sets you on your feet, you look up, studying his face. the eyes you love so much stare back at you.

the emotions you’d kept bottled up since he’d been gone pour out at once. proof of your heartache, anger, pain, and loneliness spilling over your lash line.

suddenly there’s too much space between you and you tentatively take a step forward.

“it’s you,” you breathe. “it’s really you.”

he says your name softly, and arms you’d longed for envelop you. you feel safe, if only for a moment.

“you need to get to ieiri,” he whispers, a hand cupping your cheek gently. “go. i’ll stop him.”

you both close your eyes, as if the words hurt.

“promise me you’ll always be good.”

megumi sighs, but places his hand in yours, squeezing it tightly.

“i’ll see what i can do.”

gojo vs kenjaku AND gojo vs sukuna. in this panel (2nd image), he says “you've changed a lot megumi.” (it's not known if he knows it's sukuna but gege foreshadowed gojo vs megumi and always rmbr that ppl jjk cant see sukuna's markings like we can) (page 14)

rmbr when sukuna said when he takes over yuuji, he will first kill gojo? sukuna now says “it turned out to be this brat's body but I'll kill you”. gojo says fuck you to sukuna by saying, “the guy who ran away from Yuji is acting all mighty, how pity.” (so yeah he knows it's not megumi but sukuna.) (page 15)

uraume gets mad at gojo for talking shit to sukuna and tries to attack him but gojo sends her flying (page 16)

kenjaku arrives again and stops sukuna saying “you've to finish my promise before you fight him.” gojo thinks he also has a job to do before fighting. sukuna agrees with kenjaku (so ig they stopped for now) (page 16)

gojo proposes to take the fight to 24/12 and kenjaku responds with “haha, how romantic.” (the final fights happen on dec 24th idk yet if it's irl time or jjk time) (page 18)

rmbr when yuuji asked gojo if sukuna's stronger? gojo replied with “it'll be tough if he regains all his power.”

but yuuji asked if gojo would lose but gojo said, “i will win!” (final page)

the strongest

▸ gojo satoru x fem!reader

▸ strangers to friends to lovers, slow burn romance, major angst, fluff, a lot of hurt/comfort

▸ warnings: gojo, spoilers for jjk ch. 65 onwards (gojo’s past arc) and set before jjk vol. 0, references to character death, blood, injury, violence, a bit of swearing, descriptions of trauma and grief, mention of a heart disease, mention of abandonment, mention of overdosage

▸ this fic was born out of my unending awe for the way yuuta’s story in vol. 0 was told because i unironically loved gojo’s line “love is the most twisted curse of all” when he theorized how rika was cursed. i started this fic in 2021 and continued to write for it, little by little, until i can finally say it’s finished. part of my soul rests in this for i love it more each time i reread it.

through a mission he initially perceived as a chore, gojo finds that protecting you was no simple task, especially when things like emotions, responsibility, and morality are thrown into the mix

gojo hates missions like this. it’s the kind where he has to practice patience, discipline, and a plethora of other textbook virtues he never got around to understanding. if he had a choice, he’d get a reassignment in a heartbeat—exorcising a hundred curses in a night seemed a whole lot better than this. after all, gojo works best with his one-track mind backed by his most simplistic philosophy: kill or be killed.

but in missions like this, gojo is constrained by a number of obligations. he has to tune into his surroundings, make sure no civilian is harmed, be mindful about damage to public facilities, blah blah blah. the stakes are higher when it involves other people, he’s told, but gojo couldn’t care less. everything a jujutsu sorcerer does is already for the sake of the world, so did he really have to be so mindful all the damn time?

Can I ask what’s your writing process when it comes to longer fics? Do you always plan ahead or go with the flow? Any tips?

Hi love! I used to go with the flow, but I noticed I had to make up for plotholes, and I'd get stumped in the middle...So my tips are this:

Make sure you have a summary already because it'll be easiest to start. This is what will spark ideas.

Then think about the beginning and the end; it'll make it easier to gauge the number of chapters you need. And definitely plan your climax to ensure everything is properly paced.

Make a summary with tags for each chapter. This acts as a guide, and you definitely don't have to follow through with your tags, but they help you touch specific points you might want to make.

Do not force yourself to write. EVER. It'll give you burnout, and writing will feel less like a hobby and more like a chore. If you feel like reading instead of writing, then do whatever you're in the mood for.

Also, little warm-ups or writing sprints help if you are in a rut. Sometimes we need to throw words on a page that make zero sense for us to come back to later.

And lastly, set up your space that'll avoid any distractions. Have water and snacks (and music if it helps); that way, you don't lose focus. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a second set of eyes, someone you trust who will give you creative criticism with helpful feedback. It often helps to get someone with a reader's perspective first before we finalize everything.

These are just a few things that have helped me over the years, and hopefully you find them helpful in some way. Good luck with your story 💕

Do you have any good tips for those who have problems with making a story come together? (I'm talking about finding solutions for problems, reasons for things etc.) also do you have any advice for those who have a decent vocabulary but have difficulty using it properly when writing? are there other ways to make a story less bland and more descriptive?

So there are two main things I’m going to address in your question, which are the main things you asked about, and they are 1.) making your descriptions more vivid and your writing more clever in terms of vocabulary use, and 2.) finding and fixing plot holes/problem solving in your plot. These things have one very important thing in common: they aren’t something you should focus on in the first draft. They’re things you should fix/improve in the second, third, fourth, etc. draft, but definitely not the first.

Fine details are not the point of the first draft. The first draft is where you get all your initial ideas, details, and events out onto paper so you can refine and improve them. The way your ask was written lead me to believe that you are trying to accomplish these things as you’re actually writing, but these aren’t part of the writing process. They’re part of the editing process.

So, let’s go into the two topics we’re going to focus on, here.

Using Vocabulary & Spicing Up Your Writing

This comes in the reading of the first draft after it’s written. Go through and highlight sentences or words or phrases that you think would enhance your writing if they were heavily refined. After that, go back through and try to recreate the imagery in your mind, and take the time to search for a way to write it that executes that image. It’s fairly simple, but it will take a lot of time, and that’s okay.

Finding and Fixing Plot holes

A “plot hole” is just another name for a detail you skipped on accident in either the process of plot development or world building. These can be easily fixed, because most plot holes are simply details that you didn’t remember to explain, or didn’t explain at a strategic moment that would support the pacing of the conflict progression.

These details may mean logical reasoning behind decisions characters make, events that occur spontaneously to push forward the plot, or crucial information about the characters or world within your story. It can also be details that prevent the resolution from looking too convenient, even the little ones.

This process should be done after you’ve completed the first draft. This, like fixing vocabulary, takes a lot of time, effort, and attention to detail, but it’s well worth it. It’s also helpful to get help from people who don’t have all the information in their heads, because they can tell you where the larger questions lie in your story and give you suggestions on which details you could include to make your plot more logically sound. I'm currently on chapter 117- but I LOVE SPOILERS (mostly got it from friends and tiktok.)

i match you with... fushiguro megumi! both of your quiet and observative personalities quickly found each other. it took some time to open up to megumi and for him to open up to you, but once you did you guys were found together 24/7. megumi would never be a bother with talking too much or being loud at all. he also keeps his dorm very neat and organized so when he saw yours he was relived to see you keep everything tidy. (i can see you guys cleaning to hang out LOL) when megumi finally asked you out the relationship was awkward at first but since you forged a stable friendship beforehand sorry i couldn't get to your request sooner so happy belated birthday:) birthday day: you would find megumi at your door with breakfast on a plate (i see one of his love languages as acts of service) he'd tell you happy birthday and give you a quick peck on the lips, and you two would eat breakfast together in your dorm.

gojo gave you and megumi the day off and the other first years were quick to give you hugs and wish you happy birthday. gojo came into the student dorm lobby with a huge birthday cake at 10:34 in the morning, wishing you happy birthday and expresses how grateful he is to have you as a student.

you and megumi later have a picnic for dinner watching the sunset, and he took you shopping plus went to go watch a new movie in the theatres you've been wanting to see! hello anon, hope you enjoyed your match-up!
