I submitted a speculativefiction short story to a publication last night. I’ve had it on my hard drive for a while and went through and did a lot of revisions to get it ready for submission. I feel I have a much better fleshed out and complete story now.

Now that my current project is done, I’m back to full time writing for my next story, a post apocalyptic on temporary fantasy. It feels really good to be actively drafting again. ✍️ I really do enjoy the process.

I’ve been writing some really emotional scenes this morning. Getting a character’s feelings across has always been a weak spot for me, so I’ve been really trying to delve deep into their emotions. I may be laying it on a little too thick.

I’m in a writing groove this morning drafting the apocalyptic fall of Los Angeles. Everything is really intense and I love how it’s coming along. I thought this would be a hard chapter to write but it’s flowing really well.

It’s been raining a lot here, making everything beautifully green. I love that this drainage hole has developed a micro ecosystem. It looks like the entrance to a tiny fairy kingdom.

Daily cozy fantasy short fiction
Hayo’s tea cart sat at the Thaumic crossroads. The sound of approaching horses signaled her day’s first customer. A warlord approached. “Murkesh brew”
Hayo nodded & poured the tea leaves into the metal cup & swirled it around in the hot sand until it bubbled furiously.
“Which way to Seta Village?”
Hayo pointed towards the left fork. He nodded & led his legion as directed.
Hayo smiled. Motri Fort was up the left fork & would kill the warlord's legion. Seta village was safe once again.

Daily cozy fantasy short fiction
Tom sat by the campfire softly strumming his ukulele. His beat up & dirty backpack lay beside him. Across from him Bigfoot removed a kettle from the flames, pouring two cups of cocoa before handing one to Tom.

“It’s still hard to believe I’ve met the actual Bigfoot.” Tom took a sip of the sweet brew and sighed in contentment.
“I prefer Carl, if you don’t mind.”

They continued talking late into the evening telling each other about their adventures in the Pacific Cryptid Reserve. The next morning Tom awoke to find the hairy man gone as if he’d never been. Bigfoot, er Carl, continued to be as elusive as ever, mused Tom.

Your daily does of cozyfantasyshortfiction
Maddy pushed her book cart through what was affectionately known as The Library at the End of the World. She knew the proper location for each carefully curated book. Scholars sat with their books, studying the thick texts. A few of her friends were also there for leisure reading. Quinn motioned her over and slid a steaming coffee mugs toward her. Maddy picked it up and took a sip of the rich, dark brew.
“Any news on your home bunker? he asked.
“It’s not looking good. The storm may have destroyed everything. I may be homeless and without family now,” Maddy said, blinking back tears.
Quinn reached out to touch her hand.
“No. This is your home and we’re your family.”
All around her new friends gathered to embrace her in a warm group hug.

Cozy fantasy short fiction Valentine’s Day edition
Although their spirits had been split apart centuries ago, the two reincarnated soulmates finally reunited in the modern age. Marcus and Juliana strolled through the field of wild flowers where they first met ages ago. He held her as they gazed at the mountains bathed in golden sunlight.
“Happy Valentine’s Day my eternal love,” said Marcus before kissing her deeply.

Here’s your daily dose of cozy fantasy short fiction to warm your day.

In the dimly lit bedroom Jason snuggled next to Marie, watching dawn overtake the city skyline.
“I wanted to spend my last Earth sunrise with you,” he said.
“I’m going to miss you while you’re on Mars,” said Marie.
Jason got up and dug through his pack, pulling out a sheet of plastic stars before standing on the bed.
He placed one on the ceiling and laid beside her.
“Whenever you gaze up and see that star, know it’s me looking down and watching over you.”

On mastodon someone posted this image as a 500 word writing prompt. I thought it looked like a steampunk Mary Poppins and wrote the following flash fiction
Alighting on the foggy London street, the newly assigned nanny closed her photonic wave parasol and approached the guildhall entrance. She knocked and a small peephole door slid aside.
“Password?” said a man in a gruff tone.
“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” she replied.
This has inspired me to want to write a Mary Poppins fan fiction on wattpad where Miss P is a special agent for British Intelligence.

I’m going to start a new thing where I’ll post a cozy fantasy short fiction each day to warm your heart. So here it goes -
The elven maiden beckoned the weary travelers home. All they had to do now was pass through the portal to the elf kingdom of Reh Belanore. Aelrius looked forward to seeing his sister again and having a cup of her specially made Morning Sun tea that calmed the soul. They’d catch up while lounging on her balcony overlooking Lilypad Lagoon where tiny fae flitted from flower to flower. It was good to be home.
