welt yang x gn!reader
✦ summary ; you are welt's travel partner, and arrived together with him in the world of aeons and paths. although, things changed when you and welt had separated during your journey. what happens when you see each other again in the xianzhou luofu?

Bodies of mara-struck cloud knights were all you could see around the Artisanship Commission, as you accompanied your newly found companions. A young cloud knight named Sushang, a ‘silent but deadly’ man named Dan Heng, and Luocha—who claims to be a foreign trader tasked to return a body to Xianzhou Luofu. You thought it was weird for him to carry a coffin so large, and even offered to help him carry it in the meantime—although, all he does is shake his head and explain that he could handle it.
Sushang explained the situation of the Artisanship Commission's current problem along with Xueyi—a judge of the Ten-Lords Commision up in the luofu. Along with your fellow companions, you made sure to aid them with whatever they needed and vowed to protect them against any enemy that blocked your way. Everyone in the Artisanship Commission has fled and evacuated, and all you and your companions had to do was to escort Xueyi to the Artisanship Commission’s dock.
It took a while for you all to escort Xueyi, and after all the chaotic moments that ensued throughout your short journey with them—you still accompanied them until Sushang regrouped with her fellow cloud knights in the Alchemy Commission. Luocha soon departed, until you and Dan Heng were the only ones left together walking around the Central Starskiff Haven.
“Dan Heng, it was a pleasure to aid you throughout your travels. Who knows? We might meet again soon.” You say, hand on top of your chest as you give a small bow. He returns the courtesy and smiles. It wasn’t obvious, but you could see how the corners of his lips tugged into one. You turned your back and were about to finally leave him, until you heard a voice of a young girl.
“Dan Heng! Finally, Mr. Yang and I were worried sick about you!” She exclaims, tugging Dan Heng’s arm for a small hug.
“It is good to see you again, you must tell us about your travels.” A familiar, soothing voice said behind you. You quickly turned around and saw him, and suddenly your world just stopped completely. There he was standing there, adjusting his eyeglasses and holding his cane firmly as ever.
“Welt… Welt!” You exclaimed as you dashed forward directly to him, almost dropping the sheathed sword on your waist after stumbling a bit. Welt’s eyes widened in surprise, dropping his cane to receive you in his arms. He smiled, tightening his hold on you, and for a moment—the world around you stopped. He cradled you, holding your head delicately with heavy breathing.
It was such a special moment, the way he kissed the top of your head so gently and whispered sweet nothings for only you to hear. You swore you almost cried because of those intimate acts of his, it was just so sweet and lovely that March 7th just had to take multiple photos of your cute reunion.
You couldn't say anything, choking on your words as you continued to wet his shirt with your tears. You haven't seen him in a long, long time and you missed him terribly. It has been a while since you inhaled his scent, reeking of cedarwood and oak.
March clears her throat, “Hey so uhh… I don't want to be some party pooper Mr. Yang, but you haven't introduced us yet to your…”
“Ah yes—my apologies, March. I am utmost delighted to introduce you to my old travel partner, Y/N. Apologies again, it's just that I haven't seen them in a long while.” Welt smiled, putting a hand on your lower back as he introduced you to his current travel buddies.
March looked between the two of you, and gulped. “Ohh, I see! It's just that… are you sure they're just your travel partner or—” Just then, she got cut off by Stelle poking her cheek harshly.
“Ow ow, oww! Okay fine I’ll save the question for later!” March complained, side eyeing Stelle as she suppressed a giggle from slipping out of her mouth.
“Actually, March… When I told you they were my travel partner, I actually meant that they are both my travel partner and my actual partner.” Welt explained, earning a gasp from both March and Stelle.
“Well uhh, good to know Mr. Yang..! You know what, maybe the three of us will leave you to it. Nice meeting you Mx. Y/N!” March then dragged Stelle and Dan Heng farther away, intending to walk around the Central Starskiff Haven to give you and Welt some time to spend together.
“You know Y/N, we are grateful to receive new astral express crew members. Of course, only if you want to. But I would be happy to have you close to me again.” Welt smiled and looked at you fondly, squeezing your hand in hopes that you would accept his offer.
You grinned, squeezing his hand tightly and bringing it close to your cheek. “I would love nothing more, Welt. Although…are you sure the express can accommodate more people?” You ask, tilting your head slightly.
Welt froze a bit, clearing his throat afterwards. “About that… Maybe it would be best to share a room with me in the meantime. I can seek out the conductor to prepare an extra bed to be placed in my room.”
“Or maybe, I could just sleep in yours. How does that sound?” You say cheekily, causing the poor old man to fluster a bit—red evident in his cheeks.
“Oh. Well whatever you prefer… As long as you're happy.” He smiled at you, caressing your cheek softly.

Welt hsr: picnic date!

You yawned as you heard the curtains being pulled open. You mumble sleepily as you roll away from the source of light to only roll into Welt's arms. He chuckled as he pulled you out of bed. "Good morning, sleepy head." He mumbled as he nuzzled his nose against yours. You whine pitifully as you squirmed in his arms.
Damn, for an old man, he was buff. "Darling, get up. We have a date today, remember?" He smiled down at you as he carried you to the chair in the corner of the room and gently set you down. He opened up the closet while humming quietly.
You finally woke up fully as you glanced at him. "A date..?" You mumble before lighting up excitedly. It was your two(2) year anniversary today! You and Welt had planned for a small hiking date and then having a picnic under the sunset.
Welt chuckled as he took out your summer dress that had little strawberries on it. (Or a flow-y blouse for the male/nonbinary option) "You finally woke up, huh?" You nod eagerly to his question as you quickly put on the clothes with his help. Welt had always been one to give royal treatment.
He buttoned up your clothes before lacing up your sneakers and standing up. "Alright, love. It's time for breakfast. I made your favorite." He smiles as you jump out of the chair and run into the kitchen. You run in and see your favorite breakfast plated beautifully with berries.
You sat down eagerly with Welt and you two ate a beautiful breakfast together. He smiled as you finished eating with blueberry juice on the corner of your mouth. He gently wiped it off with a napkin before placing a kiss on your cheek. "Careful darling, you will make a mess out of your pretty clothes."
He stood up and held out a hand for you to take. You took it as he led you outside with a picnic basket in his hand. You two walked into town, hand in hand, and excited to find little trinkets to take home. "Hey hunny, I need to go fetch something quickly. You can go find something for yourself, alright?" He smiled as he waved and walked through the town.
Your eyes light up excitedly as you realized that this was the perfect chance. You ran off to one of the many jewelry shops around. You walked in with a pep in your step as you looked around. You looked around for a couple of minutes before your eyes landed on a beautiful ring. It was gold with small red accents on it. It was perfect for Welt as you walked up to the clerk.
"Hello, I would like to check out that ring there." You asked the clerk with a wide smile on your face. He smiled knowingly as he bagged it. "I'm guessing it's for the big day?" The clerk asked as he handed you the small, felt bag. You nodded as you placed the bag in your pocket. "It's for tonight.. I hope he says yes!" He smiled and nodded. "Good luck, kid."
You ran out of the store excitedly and found Welt looking around for you in the street. "Welt!" He glanced over at you as his eyes lit up. "Ah, darling. Did you get anything?" He took your hand in his gently as he kissed it. "Nope, I just looked around!" You lied as you smiled brightly.
He nodded and picked up the picnic basket again and walked with you. "Come on love, it's almost sunset." You two walked to a small hill and set up a blanket. He stood with you and watched the sun slowly go down.
You took a deep breath as you realized now would be a great time. You carefully took out the ring box and got on one knee. Welt glanced down at you before his eyes widened as he realized what was happening. "Dear, I love you more than anything in the world.. I want us to be together forever, in which I ask this one question.. Will you marry me?" You glanced up at him with a nervous smile on your face as you opened up the ring box.
He groaned and teared up. "Darling, you took my spot light!" He said as he turned away from you. Your heart breaks slightly as you thought he was going to reject you. He dug through his pockets before turning back around and kneeling down with you.
He carefully took out another ring box as he smiled widely. "Dear, the real question is, will you marry me as well?" He chuckled and opened the ring box. Inside was a beautiful ring with small blue accents which complement your ring for him that has red accents.
You teared up as you chuckled with him and nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes!" You tackled him into a hug as you both laughed under the sunset.

"Get in bed."
You look up with wide eyes as your face goes red.
"Excuse me..?" You mumble.
Welt sighs before picking you up and swinging you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
"You've been working all day and didn't even come to bed for cuddles." He grumbles and throws you on the bed. You squeak in shock and sit up.
"Welt, stop!-" He cuts you off as he lies on you.
You sigh and roll your eyes. "Welt, I need to finish those papers." You stop when you feel tears staining your shirt.
"Welt..?" He whimpers and nuzzles into you more.
"Please... Scold me later, just give me comfort right now.." Your eyes soften as you coo and run your fingers through his hair.
"What happened, love?" He shakes his head and curls up.
You sigh before going quiet and cuddling up to him.
"I love you, Welt.."

Autistic Dan Heng hsr
As you walk through the halls of the express boredly, you see Dan Heng walking into his "room".
"Dan Heng! How are you?" You smile and run up to him.
"Uh, fine." He turns his face away from you so you can't see it.
Your eyebrows crease in worry as you grab his cheeks and turn his face towards you. Tears are streaming down his cheeks as he stims.
"Oh, dear.." You mumble as you usher him into your room instead. "What happened, Dan Heng?"
He shakes his head and rocks back and forth. "It's too much.. Too loud, too bright..."
You nod as you realize what's happening. You gently sit him on your bed as you dim the lights and give him noise headphones. You pat his head before walking out to make him his comfort food.
