There is currently a crowdfunding campaign active for a Japanese indie otome game called Monomagia Cantabile!
They have a stretch goal for an English translation at 5M JPY. As of this post, they have made 2,293,000 JPY.
"Hotaru, a young girl with an old playing card she found in her grandfather's room, is transported to another world called Eden and wakes up in the laboratory of a young man called Jet. Jet, a suspicious young man, says that in order for Hotaru to return to her original world, she needs to go to meet a person called the Creator who lives in a place called the White Country at the farthest end of Eden.
In order to return to her original world, Hotaru embarks on a journey to the White Land with Jet, whom she met in the Yellow Country...
During her journey, Hotaru meets six young men. There were five nations in Eden: yellow, red, green, blue, and white. Apparently, in Eden, there are problems between the countries. Faced with problems between various people and countries that arise in this world, and sometimes in love, the girl moves towards the fate imposed on her."

Publisher dramatic create and developer MAGES. will release otome visual novel Meiji Tokyo Renka: Full Moon for Switch and PC via Steam in 2024 worldwide with Japanese audio and English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles, the companies announced.
Meiji Tokyo Renka: Full Moon first launched for PS Vita on August 25, 2016 in Japan. It is a ported version of Meiji Tokyo Renka, which originally launched for PlayStation Portable, featuring a new route for one of the characters, as well as other new content.
Here is the story synopsis, via VNDB:
The protagonist, a quite normal high school girl named Ayazuki Mei, meets the self proclaimed illusionist Charlie on a night with a red full moon. Due to his hand she travels through time to the Meiji era of Japan. There, where Mononoke had been observed, was a sort of mysterious Meiji Era “Tokyo”.
Following Charlie’s lead, she arrives at the Rokumeikan building. Waiting at the party the protagonist sneaks into are an assemblege of historic personages. Ogai Mori, Shunsou Hishida, Otojirou Kawakami, Kyoka Izumi, Fujita Goro, and Yakumo Koizumi.
During the protagonists interaction with those men, the prized Meiji Era ability to see Mononoke “Tamayori” is awakened within her. Because she holds this power, her relationship with those men evolves…
In an unfamiliar era, an awakening of love blooms by living among these handsome men and interacting with them.
Will the protagonist return to her original time? Or…?
A love that crosses space-time… What could the conclusion be?

A group working on an English translation of the DS version of Angelique Duet is looking for a programmer / hacker to help them continue their work!
Angelique is the first otome game, originally released for the SNES / Super Famicom in 1994, and has never been released outside of Japan.
"The queen needs a new heir to take over, so she summons two of the most capable girls for the crown: Rosalia de Catargena - your rival - or Angelique Limoges, the main character.
There are eight princes who are your love interests to help you on your journey. Help the villages and sabotage your rival into taking their land. There's also fortune telling, zodiacs, and compatibility mechanics to improve your relationships with others. There are several endings, including the queen ending, romantic endings, or the new best friends ending with Rosalia.
In this version, Duet, you now have the option as playing as the rival; this opens up dialogue choices of playing as the villainess, and having to try to make amends with the love interests and the main character. This version also has night dates, a cooking system, a gifting system, a cafe to eat with your love interests, completely rehauled graphics, and a multiplayer mode to visit other players' rooms."
The game is approximately 90% translated. They are looking for someone who can figure out the pointer system, and someone who can dump the script and inject it once all translated text is completed. The character limit per line is 38 characters. It is a pointer based text file, not command based. If someone has more experience working with the PS1 or Sega Saturn, they are open to working on those versions as well.

Join us in April for the 2024 Amare Games Festival, a celebration of love and diversity in story-focused games!
For this festival we invite you to create or update a game that you believe falls under the Amare Genre tag!
What is Amare?
Why a festival?
Jams are an awesome way to get the creative juices flowing and challenge yourself to create a game in a short amount of time. However, there are already a lot of amazing projects in progress, so it's important to celebrate those and give people the opportunity to focus on setting and achieving goals with their existing projects as well.
Examples of Submissions
A new game.
A new demo or Vertical slice.
A new chapter update to an existing game.
Adding new features or content to an existing game.
The festival has fairly relaxed rules, but in general, we would like all participants to keep these in mind:
Rules:
You must Release or Update during the festival period. Work can be commenced before the start of the festival.
Please clearly label demos or first episodes as such. - This is to help us organise the entries
Please clearly state the exact update or new content that was added during the festival.
Submissions can be Free or Commercial.
NSFW must be properly labelled, but is fine as long as it adheres to Itch.io's TOS
No hate speech, (i.e. speech that promotes hatred, violence or discrimination against groups of people based on ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.) or content that is patently offensive or intended to shock or disgust viewers.
Content Warnings are needed (Here is a link to help you with those if you need it!)
We currently do not support AI-generated games or games that make use of generative AI writing and art. Until legislation is put in place to ensure ethical training models that respect artist and creator copyright and regulate transparency on the use of AI in creative content, we will not allow the submission of games that utilise generative AI.
We kindly ask that you tag your game with the 'Amare' tag here on itch.io. This will ensure people who are watching the tag instead of just the jam page will see your game.
