genuine question, why do queer people on tiktok hate androgyny so much? i made the horrible mistake of getting slightly involved in label discourse and im currently getting dogpiled in a comment section because i said its okay for trans androgynous people to call themselves lesboys.
have we as a community just collectively decided that its a crime to be genderqueer? what happened to gender being a social construct?? i swear to god tiktok will crucify you if youre a lesbian who isn’t perfectly feminine and fits their exact idea of what a lesbian should look and be like.
i truly don’t understand why people care so much what labels other people use. if a non-binary/genderqueer or trans person calls themself a lesboy then good for them!!! trans/genderqueer people dont owe you convenience and we certainly dont need to be perfectly taxonomically consistent just so we make sense to cis people.

its like we’ve completely foresaken our queer history just for the sake of making our labels as digestible and consistent as possible. maybe instead of sharpening your pitchforks and crucifying anyone who’s identity you deem invalid you actually talk to them and empathize and understand them and their identity. OR MIND YOUR FUCKING BUISNESS. unless youre dating someone then their sexuality is NONE of your buisness and they dont owe you an explanation.

It is, to say the least, saddening to watch people completely miss the point of the blog. 'Aroace doesn't include ALL a-specs!' Quite saddening to see a blog we just started be targeted for such hostility.
I know I would not want an uneducated cis gender, heteroromantic heterosexual man speaking over me, a cis gender, AroAce woman. I don't see why others want us to do the equivalent of that.
I was under the impression that we should stop the spread of misinformation, regarding our identities, not that we should allow it to spread. That's all we would do. Even if our intentions are good, if we spread misinformation, it risks damaging the community as a whole.
Good intentions do not mean that misinformation is a good thing. Misinformation hurts all of us, whether the intent is good or bad.
Please stop requesting that we speak on subjects we don't know enough about.

The casual exlusionism within the AroAce community really affected how I view myself, because I'm in my mid-20s and I'm only just realizing that I might be Grey Aromantic too because I really enjoy romance in fiction, romance is one of my favorite genres.
the idea of having someone who understands you and will be there for you no matter what, who you want to spend the rest of your life with is a very appealing idea to me, especially with the trauma I've been through.
I'm not a fan of "happily ever after" romance, but realistic romance where we see couples still struggling with their own problems, but still have each other.
But I only just realized I've felt genuine romantic attraction so little, and most other times I have were hyperromantic trauma responses.
I have multiple partners across two DID systems, and I love them very much, but my romantic attraction is exclusively within those two systems. People outside of those systems, I haven't had any romantic attraction to since I was 13. There were a few hyperromantic crushes out of want or need for attention (as I'm a trauma survivor), but even those were sparse.
Even my break ups with some people only bothered me because of how they broke up with me, not that they broke up with me. Not that they severed a year (or more) long romantic relationship with me.
Aromanticism is more complicated than I initially thought, and the exclusionist behavior that is so common from inside and out only muddies the water and makes it difficult for AroAce people to accept themselves.
We need to learn to spread acceptance and that just because someone doesn't fit a perfect box, that doesn't mean they're not one of us.
AroAce is not a box, and it shouldn't be treated that way.
