TW: Mentions of minor character deaths
Tumblr media
Finally after days of traveling on the back of your horses, both you and your friend Adrian reach the destination of your quest. Or more so, Adrian's quest. The huge mountain is in sight, where the castle and home of the infamous dark dragon Ryunir should reside in. Including the princess the beast has stolen away from the kingdom. Every person around the land knows about the legendary maneating dragon, who hoards unfathomable amounts of gold and riches inside his castle and his hate for humanity. All stolen from kings and royals alike, but it seemed like he had a special grudge against the royals in the kingdom Adrian and you call home. The king was rightfully scared about the danger that could strike any day, so he sent an army of knights to get rid of the fire breathing lizard. Only to never hear from them again and have his precious daughter, princess Amelia get taken by the massive beast.
Many other knights have tried to save her, especially now after the king has promised his daughter's hand in marriage. Your friend being one of them. Him and the princess always acted all lovey dovey around each other even while you were there watching the whole thing unfold. So it was only a matter of time until he asked, no begged you to come with him on this quest to save her. Despite your own hesitation and second thoughts. You two have been through thick and thin, he's been there for you when you needed him and vise versa, which is the reason why you're now standing on the edge of the mountain. Having already dismounted your horse as Adrian follows.
“Are you really sure we should do this?”, your voice comes out after you gulp down the lump in your throat at the sight. Right at the edge a small wobbly bridge is the only thing that connects the ground of the mountain and castle, the dark abyss below surrounding it. Adrian gives you a comforting pat on the shoulder, the determination evident on his face. “Don't worry (y/n), we have been successful with all our quests so far. Besides, I can't sit around and have princess Amelia locked up forever!”, “That's what the other knights must've thought as well before they most likely busted into flames...”
Not wasting any more time he approaches the creaky bridge and gives the robes an experimental tug. Waving you over after deeming it save enough. The darkness below doesn't make the way any less nerve wrecking, but Adrian makes sure to have a good hold on you while carefully moving alongside with you. A sigh of relief you were holding in leaves you once making it safely to the other side, now entering the darkened castle as quietly as possible through the creaky doors. The sounds echoing through the long and high hallways in front. It definitely would take a lot of time until any of you would find the right tower or room where the princess is hidden away.
Each step has to be chosen carefully, as any sound might alert the massive dragon residing somewhere deep within the castle. The floors and walls littered with cracks and damages, evidence that this place is much older and hasn't been taken care of in ages. Adrian clutches his sword tightly in his hands beside you, looking left and right towards each different corridor. With a nod to himself he turns to you and whispers, “Maybe we should split up...”, taking a few steps forward he chooses to go straight ahead. “You guard the entrance and distract the dragon, if he finds you first and I'll search for Amelia.”
“Are you crazy?!" You whisper shout towards him as your head almost snaps back towards him, keeping your tone down, ”I get that we might cover some more space this way, but mind you there's no way it would improve our chances with the dragon! Wait- Adrian!“ Before you could protest any further he speed walks away. Leaving you alone in the middle of the halls. ”I swear if I die I'll kill him if the dragon doesn't.“ You grumble to yourself, stepping through one of the hallways closest to the left. One hand hovering over the weapon in your belt just in case as you reassure yourself internally.
It almost feels like hours wandering around but finding nothing but even more halls and even the occasional bones of previous living humans who've entered the castle, which causes shivers to run down your spine. You've probably walked around in circles now but kept yourself close to the entrance like Adrian asked you to. Eventually the soles of your feet start to bother you and you decide to take a small seat on a small staircase. Checking your equipment and hoping that Adrian has found the princess in the while you were walking around aimlessly.
”This is so stupid... Should've known he would run off by himself again. Probably to also show off and be 'the knight in shining armor' for her.“ Consumed in your own little quiet rant and thoughts, you fail to notice the dark silhouette that starts to stirr behind you from your words. A large single golden eye opening and gazing down at the small human sitting below. Only once the massive beast rises and its hot breath blows against your back do you freeze, before slowly and anxiously turning around to face the dragon. It certainly was a sight you can't deny, after all you always had a respect and fascination with dragons, but at this moment survival is more important. A deep gutteral growl rumbles in the back of its throat, followed by a fierce ear piercing roar.
Stumbling up from your seat you make a run for it, barely managing to avoid its jaws, screaming in terror as the rumbling of footsteps follow close behind. In hopes of loosing the creature you run through every hall and corridor possible, making sure to take sharp turns, but no matter what you do the dragon keeps up without trouble. Shooting fireballs at you from time to time which you barely manage to avoid thankfully. It's only once you come to a dead end do you start panicking fully, looking around for any possible way out but finding none you press yourself against the wall. Hoping that the hard surface behind somehow swallows you up and takes you away from this place as your body trembles in fear. Wings unfurled from his back in an intimidating display the dragon approaches slowly, as if savoring the fact that you're trapped and about to face your demise.
Unable to think straight your brain decides to do the unthinkable as your widened eyes take in the size of him almost filling the entire hallway you're in. Instead of drawing your weapon or getting out of there you hurriedly blurt out, ”P-Please spare me big beautiful dragon.!“ Closing both eyes tightly, you await a fireball to roast you, or sharp teeth clamping down and kill you. Yet nothing happens. Opening one of your eyes you see the dragon has stopped in front of you, he seemed caught of guard by that compliment and tilts his head as puffs of smoke leave through his nostrils.
Never in his life was the red scaled beast complimented by a human, either having faced insults, fear and anger thrown at him. So this surprises him greatly, in a pleasant way. ”You think I'm beautiful human?“ He rumbles, his voice echoing through the halls as it bounces off the walls. Seeing that it somehow stopped the dragon from attacking you quickly nod. It might've been something you said in a panic, but after taking a good look at the creature you can't deny his majestic and powerful presence.
”Y-yes. I mean it's not every day one is face to face with an amazing creature of legends like a dragon.“, Your genuine interest in his kind stirrs a strange warmth within his large scaly chest, but not the usual heat he emits, it's foreign yet pleasant. A feeling he now wants to continue experiencing out of newfound curiosity. Moving his long neck down so his head is a little closer the creature gives you an expectant look as if asking what made you say all of this. ”Tell me, what about me is so beautiful little human?“
In response you let your gaze wander over the different parts of him, pointing out everything that intrigues you. ”Well for starters I've never seen wings so huge and cool like this. It always sounded interesting to experience flying, though I could only read about it in books.“, a small nervous chuckle leaves you before you continue while the huge dragon listens intently how you compliment him more. Things like how shiny his wine red scales look, those horns that give him an even more intimidating yet regal appearance and so on and so forth.
”But I think your eyes are the most beautiful thing of you, they shine like gold..“ At this point you seem to be rambling on as if forgetting about the danger you've been in. Though the dragon doesn't mind, in fact he likes it. Your last compliment struck a chord inside, feeling the beating of his heart quicken as his pupils dilate and the subtle sound of purring reverberates through his entire being. A pleased purr leaves the dragon as his head tilts so his large eye is peering down at your smaller frame better. ”What is your name little one?", he inquires curiously. Once you introduce yourself, a small smile makes its way onto his face when he tastes your name upon his tongue.
“It suits you little one. I'm Ryunir, it's very much a pleasure meeting you.” There's a strange haze that crosses his gaze which makes you fidget underneath its intensity. Another puff of warm air blows against your frame as he inhales and exhales deeply, taking in your scent. “Thank you, I'd like to chat a little longer but uhm...”, you pause trying to find the right words to say next. “I need to find my friend again so we can leave in peace.”
The dragon frowns upon hearing the word 'leave'. Since Ryunir has set his eyes upon you, he had a feeling you didn't come here all the way alone and were either here to steal the gold or rescue the princess he took. No matter which one it was he doesn't care anymore. Stealing the princess was only to spite the king who has made Ryunir's life more miserable by sending countless knights for centuries, before (y/n) and their friend to kill him for not only his riches, but also for his scales and head. Which is why he has started to reign terror over the people of this kingdom ever since. Yes he did keep the girl away from being saved, but Ryunir never liked having her here either. But now that you're here? Your friend could rescue the royal away for all he cares, what he wants is to have you by his side for the rest of his life.
In the dragon's eyes you've become his most priced treasure, his mate. Ryunir can't believe it himself entirely as well, yet there's something inside him that tells him that you are meant to be his. Wether it's instincts or the fact that he's been lonely without any positive interactions for as long as the beast can remember for the recent few 100 of years, one thing is for sure. You've made your way into his heart and there's nothing that's going to take you away from him.
“Leave? No... Stay with me little one.”, before you could protest or say anything further the dragon leans down with a soft whine. Snatching you up by the back of your gear, like a mother cat carrying her kittens and taking you deeper into the castle. “W-Wait! No I can't stay.! Adrien!” Paying your calls for help no mind, the dragon continues with a small pep in his step. The sound of his footsteps echoing through the silent empty hallways until entering a large chamber filled with riches. Mountains upon mountains of gold, jewels and many more things that has some type of value as far as your eyes can see. Reaching his desired spot surrounded by a few pillars, Ryunir gently drops you down before coiling his tail around you in a warm and protective embrace. Lighting up the torches and chandeliers hanging upon the walls, ceiling and columns with a light breath of fire, surrounding the both of you in a more cozy atmosphere.
Holding you close to his red scaly body as he gets comfortable, curling up and nuzzling his snout against your smaller head. His entire being vibrating as he purrs affectionately. “Comfy my dear treasure?”, Ryunir rumbles softly in question. “Yes?” Your answer comes out more like a question than intended but the beast takes it nonetheless with a pleased growl. “Don't worry, I won't do anything you're not comfortable with. You're mine now and I intend to have my mate protected and satisfied no matter what."
His words are filled with honesty and utter devotion. A promise to keep you safe and under his care for as long as he lives. Tenderly brushing a few strands of hair out of your face with his claw, making sure to not hurt or scratch you with it. Despite your initial reluctance you end up enjoying his company more than anticipated. Keeping light conversations all the while showing nothing but tenderness and longing towards you. His heat emitting from his body also helps calming down your thoughts, practically melting into his coils until the both of you take a rest together and doze off.
It's only after what felt a few moments later that someone is trying to shake you awake. With a small groan your eyes meet Adrian who has a panicked look on his face, the princess hiding at the doorway of the gigantic chamber. ”(Y/n) wake up!“ He whisper shouts, making sure to not wake the beast sleeping beside you. Blinking both eyes open, startled you meet your friend's gaze. ”Oh now you're showing up? Where were you almost an hour ago?!“, flailing your hands in expiration you then let out a deep sigh after hearing your friend's apology.
”I'm sorry (y/n), but this beast has trapped me earlier but luckily I made it out. And look! I found Amelia!“ Gesturing towards the girl she gives you a quiet wave of her hand, yet she's visibly tense by the fact that the dragon is here. Adrian freezes swiftly when the dragon in question shifts but doesn't wake up just yet, instead pulling you closer towards his head despite still being asleep. ”Lets get you out of here...“, he whispers climbing up the pile of gold, as sneakily as those allow him to be until he reaches you and holds out his leather gloves hand. Grasping yours and trying to pull you out of the tight coils around your frame.
”Adrian, please stop. Just leave!“ Ushering him away in a hurry as the tail tightens around you. ”Take Amelia and go.“, Adrian pauses then shakes his head, ”I'm not leaving you here with this monster (y/n)!“ He gives you a look that tells you that he won't back down no matter what. With a final pull with both of his hands he manages to get his friend out, almost falling down the gold pile in the process, managing to catch the both of you steady just barely.
Though the quiet celebration was short lived once the eye of the beast opens, as if sensing that his mate is not within his hold anymore. His pupils turn into slits upon seeing the both of you, in particular your friend holding you close. With a furious roar he rises, the riches around you flying and getting thrown everywhere as he moves. ”Come hurry! This way!“ Princess Amelia yells out, holding the door open as Adrian pulls you along as fast as possible. Just narrowly escaping Ryunir's jaws and rushing towards the entrance with you and the princess in tow who points out the direction towards the exit she has found at a time in her own attempts to escape.
Behind you the enraged dragon roars out and wastes no time chasing after the group of three, through every hallway possible. Luckily with Amelia on their side there won't be a chance to run into any dead ends. Soon the exit is in sight and Adrian pushes the both of you forward, stopping in his tracks to face Ryunir with a determined face. Before the dragon could let out his breath of fire, your friend cuts the rope beside him which was holding the massive metal gate of the entrance up, only to have it slam down upon the dragon's scaly back. A furious and pained shriek getting forced from his being. Successfully trapping him underneath as he trashes wildly on hopes of getting out. Not wasting any more time Adrian pushes you and the princess forward onto the wobbly bridge until you finally reach the mountain once more.
Relief rushes through the other two once the group got onto their horse and gallop away, yet as you leave in tow the cries of Ryunir still can be heard in the distance. As if calling out for you to return at the loss of your presence. With a heavy heart and head held low you stay quiet for the rest of the trip back until reaching the kingdom at last heart still beating wildly from the escape.
When Adrian brought back the king's daughter he was allowed to, as promised, to be wed to Amelia, which of course he couldn't turn down. Days have gone by until the wedding finally comes around, you couldn't be happier for your friend but the events from the castle still linger in your mind. As absurd as one might think it is, you actually ended up enjoying your time with Ryunir even if it was a rough start and he tried to kill you initially. But somehow he wove himself into your heart and leaving him made you feel bad.
As you sit by the lake by yourself lost in thought Adrian approached you from behind and gives you a concerned look. ”What's wrong (y/n)? This is my wedding party, have some fun... I don't want to see my best friend down on such a beautiful day.“, squeezing your shoulder gently he tries to lighten up the mood but ends up sitting down beside you on the grass not caring if his white suit gets dirty. ”Something is bothering you...“ he points out, already knowing that it must be something that happened regarding the quest. Finally nodding your head you turn to him, ”Remember the dragon?“
Scrunching his eyebrows he nods giving you a concerned look. ”Has he hurt you?“, he questions, ”No it's not that, he seemed to like me... We actually talked and it felt nice.“ Adrian listens to your ramblings, showing his surprise and disbelief at the story you're telling him. After all, how could the dark dragon which the kingdom has feared for so long be the same you described?
All of a sudden a shadow casts overhead making the two of you blink in confusion. The roar and beating of large wings in the distance unmistakable. And speak of the devil, Ryunir has arrived. He must've freed himself somehow and now is circling the castle before diving down. Hearing screams and distressed yells from the people the both of you rush towards the chaos. Men and women running frantically to get safe as the king shouts orders towards his knights to take down the monster. Adrian joins them as you stand there for a moment to let the situation process in your head.
Ryunir lands harshly in the middle of the town, growling fiercely as his gaze fleets over the crowd of humans. Hoping to find his mate somewhere in those masses. Not caring if he steps over buildings or other structures, knocking them down in his frantic search. Picking up people with his claws that might resemble your appearance before tossing them away carelessly after seeing it's not the human he's looking for. The knights rush into the scene and start firing arrows upon arrows at the beast, only angering him further even though they barely even pierce his skin. Becoming annoyed by their attempts to kill him he lifts his head high in the air before surrounding the army with hot flames. Some manage to get out of the attack just barely yet badly wounded. Leaping into the air to move more inward of the kingdom he continues looking until a lone knight catches his attention. Recognizing Adrian immediately his nostrils flare up with smoke, seeing the one that has in his eyes, taken away his mate from him fills himnwith unbridled rage.
Seeing the anger flash across the dragon's visage your friend turns around a corner to avoid the incoming fire blast. The flames almost burning his suit. He has to find you quickly, if what you told him was true then Ryunir must be here for a special reason. Avoiding one fire ball after another, Adrian rushes towards the castle grounds towards the woods where he last saw you. With a loud roar the dark dragon climbs up one of the towers and leaps down, the force shaking the ground, sending dust all over and making Adrian stumble the powerful force of the wind throwing him against a nearby tree.
Forcing your friend against the wooden bark, Ryunir's throat starts heating up as he prepares to end the human in front of him, mouth wide open to rip him into pieces. ”Stop!“, Ryunir's jaws clamp shut just inches away, immediately turning his head towards the sound of your voice. The panic and worry on your face very much evident, you hurry over just to stand a safe distance away to keep his attention away from your friend. When he finally sees you standing there in the flesh, his wings lower and his eyes soften. His pupils dilating as he slowly steps closer, ”(y/n)...“, with an almost inaudible murmur Ryunir utters your name. Standing before you his head lowers towards you, sniffing and taking in your scent as if to make sure you're really there in front of him. Finally placing both of your hands upon his scaly snout he rumbles contently and closes his eyes, calming down against the soft caresses.
Adrian's gaze fleets between his friend and the massive dragon as he catches his breath. ”What's happening..?“, slowly he tries to force himself onto his feet with a groan, leaning against the trunk of the tree for support. The dragon immediately starts growling again turning his heated gaze back, but before any of you could say or do anything Ryunir gently lifts you off the ground just like the first time he did, sending Adrian another glare with a loud huff before spreading those massive wings and flying away.
Instead of landing at the castle like you assumed he stops at a far distance away in a clearing amidst the woods, landing safely by a lake and making sure to set you down on your two feet. ”There, you're safe now my mate.“, he announces proudly puffing out his chest, ”That bad human won't steal you away from me again.“ Ryunir wraps his tail around you and pulls you close, a pleasant warmth running through his entire body when you return the gesture.
”He's actually my friend Ryunir, he wasn't trying to steal me away. Adrian thought you would've eaten me back then in the castle.“, you clarify. For a moment his purring comes to a halt as he stares down into those eyes of yours, when he sees that you're actually being serious he averts his gaze almost like a pet that has been caught in an act. Yet he doesn't seem to be bothered by the chaos he's caused and quickly focuses back on the human before him. ”Oh well that doesn't matter. What matters is having my beloved treasure by my side again.“, without thinking he leans down and gives you a loving lick on the cheek. Seeing how stunned you are from his action he lets out an amused chuckle, curling up around your smaller frame, his head resting against yours. ”And there's nothing that will seperate us. That's a promise“

Merman x F!Reader
This is actually my first time writing about falling in love and stuff, so I hope I did good!
The art used doesn't belong to me, but to it's rightful owner @weyowang!
TW: ENTANGLEMENT OF MARINE LIFE, other than that it's pure fluff!
Tumblr media
Another fish is wrapped up by a loose fishing line, it was the fifth one today Tullius has come across on his way close to the shore. The lone merman wastes no time and swims over to help the poor puffer fish in need. His long, strong, pale tail pushing him through the water with no effort.
Reaching for the puffed up creature he carefully untangles the thin line from its spikes and removes the hook puncturing it's pectoral fin. Luckily the brown and white spotted fish isn't badly hurt and manages to swim off just fine, deflating in the process. That has become an almost daily routine for the male. Everyday Tullius would swim to the beach located not far away from his shipwreck he calls home and collect various trinkets he found. Helping other sea life on the way if he sees them in trouble.
Tullius himself hasn't been safe from the trash and other gadgets humans have lost, or thrown out to sea. Having the scars and even part of a worn out net wrapped around his tail to prove it. The material dirty and grown with algea and tiny barnacles. It's also one of his reminders why he was shunned and eventually exiled from his previous home. Trying to get it off with the help from others when he couldn't do it alone, only for them to end up chasing him away.
Anything and everything human related is frowned upon in his folk. As more people came to visit the beaches, mermaids and mermen were forbidden to come anywhere close to the surface, by order of their king.
But despite knowing how bad it is for his home which he calls the ocean, he can't help but still be curious and fascinated by humans and their strange knick knacks. There's a whole wooden shelf in the downed ship full of things he's collected. One new strange, or in his eyes, beautiful object found throughout his trips is added daily. The merman doesn't even know where to stock the rest of them he'll find in the future!
Tullius has come to like it out here by himself. It's not like he was well liked before either. Tullius was seen as an outsider already by not having a vibrant color of a tale, or beautiful fins like the others.
Of course he has kept safe distances from the shore to make sure he wouldn't be spotted, but lately he can't stop himself from peeking out of the water every so often. Swimming closer day by day, just to get another glimpse of something. Or more like, someone.
Tullius has seen humans before, but when he first saw you he couldn't take his midnight blue eyes away from your figure walking along the beach. Cradling and comforting a seagull you've rescued from drowning. From this day on he couldn't stop himself from visiting, just to hope to get another glimpse of you from behind a few rocks. His organ in his chest beating faster and a warm giddy feeling spreading throughout Tullius' body. At first he confused the feeling with sickness, or the tiny fish he had for breakfast, swimming around in his belly. But then he remembered, food that's been chewed and eaten can't swim anymore.
The male came to realize, this strange feeling returns whenever he's watching you from the distance, but it's not uncomfortable. No. He likes it. A lot. And it grew as time passed, the longer he watched the more enamored he became.
Tullius desperately wants to get closer to you but, what would you think of him? Would you like him back? Or would you look at him with disgust like his own kind? He sure hopes it's not the latter.
Another dreamy sigh leaves his lips as Tullius rests his head in both of his palms, half of his body leaning on top of the rocky surface on his usual watch spot. White tail lazily swinging back and forth in the blue ocean waters. Admiring your (body type) figure doing small dances while you keep singing to your favorite song that's playing through your earphones. Hardly anyone comes to this part of the beach since it's so secluded and luckily for the merman, you've decided to live in a small hut close by! It just happened recently but he couldn't have been more excited, especially since he gets to see you everyday now.
With a soft smile Tullius listens to your lovely voice, his wine colored ear fins twitching occasionally. No matter how good or terrible your singing is to you, he thinks it's the most beautiful sound in the world. The white haired male would love to sing with you, if he could.
Tullius snaps out from his thoughts when he heard a loud "oof" and thud in the sand. It seems you've stumbled over yourself and landed almost face first into the warm sand, for a second he was worried you might've hurt yourself only to make a quiet noise of relief when you get up unharmed. Immediately ducking behind the rock for cover when you take a look around to make sure no one has seen that clumsy act.
His heart beats against his ripcage hoping you didn't notice him watching, taking a quick peek over again Tullius lets out a small sad grumble when you make your way back into your hut and out of his sight. Yes, he does want to get to know you, but he always just gets too nervous for his own good.
But he told himself to finally approach you, the merman just has no idea how. So he ends up swimming around in circles in deep thought. The sound of panicked splashing suddenly makes him look over to the beach where a poor sea turtle is trying to get into the water. Half of its shell wrapped up tightly in a net which is holding the animal just barely away from the incoming waves. Tullius swims over quickly, looking left and right for any sign of another human around.
The male crawls onto shore and drags himself over, his arms lifting his upper body up from the heated sand, the small ocean waves now just barely reaching his white finned tail. Tullius, like others of his kind can breathe in air just fine, but he still has to hurry before his gills and other fishy half dries out in the hot sun. The animal notices the merman closing in and continues to struggle, sand flying in the air and some landing in his messy locks in the process from its flippers.
As Tullius tries to comfort the turtle his scaled hands grasp onto the net and he tries to pull it away, with no luck. It looks to be wrapped around to tightly, almost suffocatingly for one to just pull it off. And slowly but surely he feels himself get dryer. The tides also seem to go against him as well when he notices the water drawing back and further away from them. His eyes start loosing focus and Tullius can feel himself growing weaker and dizzy, until he collapses onto the sand beside the other sea creature.
In his barely awake state, he notices something approaching in the distance, but he's to weak to react or make a noise that would alert the stranger. They come to a short halt and seem to call out to him, whatever it is they're saying rings through his head in a blur. His lack of response makes them hurry over until they finally reached him. Tullius barely feels his hands being lifted and freed from the net, before being held up and brought to who knows where.
Until he feels himself being submerged into the familiar salty water, he splashes for a short moment before calming down and letting himself float to the surface with relief. Dry skin regaining its needed moisture.
Then his deep blue eyes meet your wide surprised (e/c) ones and he yelps, submerging himself in the shallow water to hide.
“Wait!”, That sweet voice of yours calls out to him and he slowly rises his head to the surface until just the top of his head and eyes are poking out from the water. You try to appear as nonthreatening as possible. Throwing the small knife away which you've used to cut through the seams of the net to free both the sea turtle and merman. With a quick glance down Tullius also discovers the lack of a familiar old net wrapped tightly around him now gone.
Keeping a safe distance and speaking in a calm voice as you show you're empty handed now. “It's OK... I'm not going to harm you. See? I also freed your friend if you're wondering.”
Tullius meanwhile almost can't believe his own eyes, the human girl he's been fawning over for who knows how long has saved him. And she's not afraid of him! He keeps staring at you with big sparkling eyes, ear fins twitching happily. “Can you talk?”, the merman tilts his head once he snaps out of his small daze and shakes his head lightly, small waves rippling around his head. While the male has learned and understands human language, he can't answer. Only communicating with clicks and other noises merfolk would use.
“Ah that would've been cool. I can't believe I'm actually meeting a real mermaid! Uhh merman..?” you let out a small chuckle at the end and look at him with big amazed eyes, not believing that a supposed mythical creature is right in front of you. “My name is (y/n) it's very nice to meet you!”
Tullius let's out a few clicks in return, introducing himself despite knowing you won't understand him either way.
The two of you spend a little more time together, the merman still mostly submerged while you've sat down onto the sand with your feet dipped into the shallow waves. Having what feels like more of a one sided conversation since he can't really talk back. But nonetheless, you still understood the small gestures he would make.
Only when the sun slowly starts to set did both of you notice how late it actually is. Standing up you give the merman a small wave, “It was really nice meeting you, Mr. Merman. I hope we can see each other again some time.”
Tullius perks up at the suggestion that you want to meet him again. Tilting his head slightly to the side he makes a small squeaky sound, wanting to know when that time will be and where you're going. Of course you didn't understand him and assumed he was saying his own goodbye, you give him a sweet smile before returning back to your hut.
The male watching your form getting smaller with his ear fins cast down and a pout forming on his lips. How he wished he could follow after you just to spend more time with you. Oh wait. He can.
~~~
It's around ten at night when all of a sudden you hear something entering your small wooden hut. As if something heavy got knocked over. You left your window open to let the small ocean breeze in, and you never expected someone to actually break in. After all, you're basically alone on this part of the island. You made sure when you rented this hut for your summer holiday. Wanting nothing more but to relax and enjoy the beach without having other people there.
But when you sneaked out of your small kitchen with a frying pan in both hands, just in case, you find that merman you've met earlier today, laying face first on the wooden floor. Lowering your weapon you let out a surprised gasp “You? What are you doing here?”, at the sound of your voice he quickly looks up from the floor with big eyes, a happy purr rumbling through his chest as he sits up to the best of his ability. Seemingly proud that he has found you and entered on his own. Because it was definitely not that easy.
Now that he's out of the water you can finally admire the merman more closely. He seems to be your age, soft looking fair skin with small various shaped scars littering over his entire lean and slender body. Clawed hands littered with wine red fish scales spreading from the back of his hands leading up to his forearms and fading in color until they reach up his elbows, where on each a triangular fin with the same color is situated. Three slits on each side of his neck now visible which you guess are his gills are closed shut to instead breath in the air instead of filtering the oxygen through water.
One long dorsal fin, also colored wine red, travels from the back of his neck down and along his spine to the middle of his white tail where another triangular shaped one connects wandering down right to the end. Two extra pairs on the sides of his hips and the other one further down his tail. They all look like they've either got cut or teared on the edges and you wonder if it's as painful as it looks.
Your (e/c) eyes travel back up to his head where a mop of messy wet white hair just barely covers those beautiful dark blue eyes that seem to glow in the darker corner of your room. The merman crawls closer, making your form stiffen up slightly but you do not dare to make a sudden move.
Once he's just a few feet away from you, Tullius opens his fist he's been kept closed the entire time and reveals a (favorite color) star snail sea shell, holding it towards you. “For me?” The male nods with a chirp avoiding his gaze but glancing back at you to watch your reaction. You carefully take it from him, putting the pan away and look at it with awe exclaiming that you love his gift.
Tullius' tail slaps against the floor in delight, a sharp toothed grin and small blush spreading across his cheeks, seeing that you like his courting gift.
And this is how it would go on for a few weeks. The merman slipping into your home in the middle of the night and bringing you gifts, all the while hanging around with you so long until he has to go into the ocean again. While at day time you'll see him peaking out from the waves waiting for you to come visit him.
You came to know his name after you showed him how to write, being amazed what a quick learner your new merfriend is. The both of you bonded quickly and you would end up spending most of the time with Tullius and getting to learn more about him, as he does about you. Even sharing his collection with you and receiving some as well he's never seen before.
Eventually you come to feel a certain way for the merman, and you were hoping that he would feel the same.
Little did you know, you've already captured his heart way before you even knew him.
But the day where you have to fly back to your home from your vacation came quicker than you could count, and it made you sad about leaving Tullius for who knows how long. You have to tell him how you feel before you're gone from this island. So as per usual the first thing you do this morning, is walking out to the beach looking for the merman. And there he was, waiting for you at his usual spot by the small wooden pier leading to your hut.
Smiling he waves at you and does a few happy flips before climbing up the structure and leaping on top of you for a tight hug making you fall onto the wooden surface. Your clothes getting wet in the process but you don't mind and giggle as he purrs and nuzzles up against you.
Tullius has become more affectionate and clingy the closer you two became, but not in an overbearing or annoying way which you admit you find pretty cute.
As the two of you spend the time together, Tullius still having his arms wrapped around you chin resting on your shoulder while playing with your hair, you reveal to him about your vacation time and you ending up leaving this island. His reaction of course as you imagined makes your chest feel heavy. The merman is now pulling you tightly against him, his ear fins pulled down and whimpering softly, pleading for you to stay with him.
While Tullius understood that you had to go, it was very hard for him to accept it. After all, he just got closer to you and now you have to leave! He's worried you'll leave him forever.
“I know... I'll miss you too... ” Tullius rests his forehead against yours at your words clicking in response. And as a final goodbye he gently cups your cheeks slowly leaning in until his soft wet lips meet yours in a sweet kiss, surprising you but returning it with as much love as he's pouring into the gesture. A promise to him that you will definitely come back and visit him.
He pulls away with reddened cheeks and loving smile, loosening his hold and preparing to go back into the ocean waters. Neither of you wanted to leave but it would make it harder to say goodbye. And before he finally leaves, Tullius gives you one last look back and finally manages to form his usual noises into five simple words that fills your heart with warmth and will stay with you until the time comes that the both of you will meet again.
“I... love... you... forever...(y/n).”
GN! Vampire Werewolf Hybrid x GN! Demon Wendigo Hybrid Reader
I hope I did well enough on this one. This was requested on my Quotev under the same account name. Sorry if this might be a little bit short (;^ω^)
If any of you are not comfortable reading about those themes, don't read. hope you enjoy!
TW: BLOOD, SLIGHT GORE, MINOR CHARACTER DEATHS, HORROR, CANNIBALISM (Technically?? Idk)
Tumblr media
Screams echo through the dark wooden forest for a moment until nothing but the sound of deep rugged breaths and tearing of flesh can be heard. The body of the young woman hangs limb in your bloodied jaws while you tear at her limbs. Long spindly claws ripping through her tissue and fibers with ease. Feasting eagerly to finally have your fill.
Once you drop little what's left of the body with a thud you waste no time chasing after the last survivor with haste. Blinded by the insatiable hunger that keeps growing, the further your prey gets. One might think from your lanky and frail looking appearance that your species would have trouble keeping up, though it couldn't be further from the truth. The smell of blood coming from the wounded human only made it worse for their escape, for now they have no place to hide. They just have to keep running and pray for their life. Pray that you won't find them.
A few months back you would've tried to ask for help, tried to fight the desire of human flesh consumption.
But due to the lack of any kind of human interaction and food for literally a year in this beastly form, wandering aimlessly through these woods, you grew weaker. Until any ounce of your own past conscience was thrown out the window.
The spirit of the last monster who tried to end your life, here in the same woods you took a hike through just to end up lost, left it's former body when it's bloody form collapsed right in front of you from exhaustion and probably the undying hunger it must've gone through before it had the chance to end your life and gave up on its own.
It was snowing heavily, no one came to your rescue and you were left shaking in the cold and almost starving to death, if it had not been for the unknown curse that's been bestowed to you and made you to this tall murderous demonic beast.
Your once (h/l), (h/c) hair has grown almost covering the entirety of your back while desiccated skin, complexion the ash grey of death pulled tauntly over your bones. Ribs poking through and clearly visible. A head akin to a stag that sports antlers, with a grotesque mouth filled with sharp bloodied fangs. What lips you had are tattered and bloody.
On all fours you follow the unmistakable scent of your victim, visible puffs of air escaping through your panting jaws as you sprint through the cold night. Glowing beady (e/c) eyes searching.
The adrenaline and haze clouding your mind from any thought, other than taking chase after the man makes you oblivious to the other being that has entered your territory. Then once a horrified scream fills the air not far in front of you, and you come to an abrupt halt. Focus on your surroundings coming back and snapping out of the tunnel vision when the presence of the once living soul can no longer be felt.
A small part of yourself that still hasn't left yet is relieved the carnage is over for now and not another life was yet again slaughtered by your own hands. At the same time though, the monstrous part that you've slowly come victim to, is nagging to find the cause of who or what just stole the life of your morsel.
Standing up onto your hind legs you sniff the air and make your way past the many dark pine trees as quiet as the breeze blowing through your hair and small patches of fur on your limbs. With the long strides you make it only took you a few minutes to come to a clearing where the unmistakable former target lays, but you didn't expect the other creature hunched over the body and draining all remaining blood from the corpse.
Only after they detach their large fangs from the person's neck do they seem to have noticed your presence. White gleaming eyes reflecting the moonlight and meeting yours in an instant, yours being the only things visible as you stand in the shadows, unmoving as the both of you stare each other down.
They look like nothing you've seen so far in these woods, yet at the same time bear some well known characteristics seen from other animals. Like the very obvious furry head and body of a werewolf. Yet they also have bat like ears and wings attached to their long arms, a tail seems to be non-existent. It definitely was not one of those beasts you've read about or seen on tv back when you were still human. This was something entirely different. A hybrid.
You can't put your finger on it, but something in your mind tells you that this creature has something else. And by the smell of it, it was definitely not to long ago. Being a wendigo has its perks sometimes you guess. Senses and overall power and abilities are far from your former human comprehension.
Thoughts were interrupted when this trespasser bares their teeth, warning growls rumbling through its chest. Black furr standing in an attempt to intimidate you, but there's also no mistaking the slight fear they ooze from their being. Nose scrunching up most likely from the strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition you gave off.
With a slow tilt of your head you take a few cautious steps towards, them taking a few back at the same time in response once your towering form reveals itself to the moonlight. It was hard to keep yourself from lunging at the hybrid and reclaim the deceased human, the idea of having your food snatched from you not sitting well to the nonhuman part of your mind.
They notice the way your eyes flash dangerously between hunger and reason, claws twitching by your sides. The hybrid glances towards their kill and to your surprise pick the body up and offer it towards you. Their growls have turned silent, but it's still to early to entirely put their guard down around a demonic creature the likes of you. Sure they could defend themself but they won't take any chances.
This gesture was something you'd never expected. Your gaze lingers on the other before you snatch the carcass from them and fill your stomach at once. When finally the hunger dies down again, at least for now, and nothing but bones and a few other remains are left behind is when your attention turns back to the hybrid whose been watching the entirety unfold in front of them.
An awkward silence fills the air before you decide to break it. Since you can't communicate anymore like you used to, saying thank you is impossible. Instead you reached your long spindly arm towards them, alarmed they stiffened and unfolded their wings ready to fly off. Just for their ears to perk up in confusion after you gave them a few pats on the head before walking off. Leaving them standing there bamboozled for a while longer into the night.
Ever since then you've encountered the same creature multiple times in the span of just a few weeks. Is it curiosity or something else? Why would they come back to you? Turns out this as you now know, vampire werewolf hybrid who introduced themself as Avis has more in common with you than you thought. It did make you confused as to why they would be in the company as someone like you, but at the end of the day you just went along with it and ended up becoming closer to them.
At first it was quite a rocky start when only one of you could properly speak to one while the other could only let out growls or other noises to communicate. In the end you opted to writing onto the ground. Avis did learn quick though and in no time was it no difficulty to tell what you wanted to say. Well, most of the times.
Nightly visits became daily hangouts until both of you decided to share your territory together. It definitely has its perks. When Avis showed how they could turn into their vampiric self, having a more human resemblance they immediately came up with the idea of luring more humans into the woods for the both of you to feed on. Since you obviously can't go much longer without the taste of flesh caused by your hunger strikes, and them having to gather more blood so they can finally have control over both their appearances and also have their fill.
Even with the news spreading around town for people to not get any closer to the woods since several missing cases have been filed around this place, the both of you still find ways to be efficient. Always sharing at the end of a hunt and then lying down to watch the starry skies until both of you fall asleep huddled close together.
Who would've known those two different monstrous species could get so perfectly along with each other?
~❦Dear Friend of Mine Pt. 2❦~
|M!Genie x F!Reader|
Here's the continuation of my short Genie story. I'm not sure if I'll make another part or not but for now here's part 2, enjoy! (ㆁωㆁ)
WARNING: SWEARING, BULLYING, MINOR INJURIES!
Part 1
Tumblr media
“What's this?”
“A toaster.”
“What's that?”
“Microwave.”
“And this?”
“TV.”
“And that black thing with strange circles on top?”
“TV remote with which you turn the TV on or off and control the channels.”
You answer tiredly as you watch him play with the remote, his red eyes scanning everything with child like curiousity. After what happened yesterday, your motivation to watch one of your favorite Netflix shows disappeared into thin air.
Having a supernatural being just appear in your room was enough for the day, so you decided to go to sleep earlier than usual. That morning you woke up late as usual on the weekends, staying in the warm sheets just a little while longer in hopes to doze off again and continue dreaming about a genie you all of a sudden released from a lamp.
Turns out it wasn't a dream at all when a certain ravenette woke you up again by jumping in your bed and hitting you with a pillow. You almost fell out and onto the floor while yelling out a whole bunch of curses, if he hadn't been nice enough to catch you with his magic. And when you were going to ask him what all of that was for, he grinned and said with his voice full of sarcasm- “My apologies for waking you up too early. I thought you were dead!”
Yeah thanks for that. Right now he watches flabbergasted once one of his fingers accidentally switches the television on. “What kind of strange magic is this?”, taking the remote away from him and turning it off again you answer. “Not magic, electricity. The remote sends a signal over to the television, which then it detects it and in response turns on.”
Dhabruan watches you lay the remote down on the table where it belonged and head towards the kitchen, presumably to make breakfast. With a poof he disappears, leaving nothing but a black cloud of smoke that vanishes soon after behind, only to reappear in the kitchen. Paying him no mind you continue scrambling the eggs in the pan.
“So...” you can feel his gaze on you as he speaks, “Have you come up with a wish yet?” With a sigh you shook your head and glance at his dark form hovering beside you, head tilted to the side.
“No I haven't.”, your answer was short and straight to the point. But Dhabruan was not satisfied with that answer, shrinking himself he flies in front of your face his voice more high pitched now. “Not even a little bit?”
“As I told you yesterday. I won't give my wishes up so easily, and it has only been a day jeez... Are all Genies that persistent like you?”, he was glaring at you for a second but calmed himself down again, his lips now forming into a pout instead before he shrugs. “Worth a shot.”
~*~*
“Oh my...”, “What, you never seen buildings like this before? When was the last time you were summoned out of that lamp?”. As you make your way towards the grocery store, the ravenette paces beside you. Eying up each building and everything foreign to him. “I don't know, which king or sultan is in reign at the moment? Hm? What's this?”, he grabs a yellow plastic bag that's been sticking out between someone's groceries. Earlier that day you discovered Dhabruan's invisibility to others, you guessed he was only visible to you since you were the one freeing him from the lamp.
“Lays..? Must be peasant food, no doubt.”, with a small huff he opens the package of chips with ease and takes a taste of a smaller one.
Your (e/c) gaze turns towards him once he started silently moaning from the taste, his eyes brightening up. “It tastes magnificent!”, letting out a chuckle you tell him much to his delight, “Well we can get more of these where we're heading now. If you want.”
With his cheeks now full of chips and small crumbs falling from his lips he nods. You think it's quite ironic that Dhabruan is now the one asking lots of questions when he was the one who was answering yours just yesterday. All the while not really hiding his irritation at the same time.
At the end of the day he's still rude and pushy towards you, but you have a feeling that he'll warm up to you in time.
~*~*
It has been a few weeks since the Genie has been with you and he would be lying if he told you he's not enjoying your company. Sure you take your sweet sweet time for your first wish but it could've been worse. You're not the worst master he has ever had to serve actually, it's also really fun to tease and annoy you.
Especially at the very first minutes of your days. This morning he woke you up with a trumpet, well you did tell him you had to get up early for school and this so called "phone" as you call it, didn't manage to do the job.
“Argh what the hell?!”, “Good afternoon!”
His red ringed eyes watch your reaction in amusement. “Afternoon?!”, “I'm joking, it's morning sleepy head.” If looks could kill he would already be more than six feet under the ground and buried alive, him smiling innocently in response.
Dhabruan pulls you out of the bed, a little to quick for comfort and poofs you away into your bathroom with a bundle of clothes in your arms. Once he notices you entering the living room where he has been waiting, he points towards the kitchen. “I thought I'll make you some toast and coffee, because you seem to have this almost every morning.”, the Genie says between his mouthfuls of Lays.
Ever since the first time trying them he seems to enjoy these a lot.
As you brush a few strands of (h/l) (h/c) hair back you take a look at the kitchen table and low and behold, said food and drink are standing there. “What is with the sudden nice gesture? Surely you must've something planned.”, you know he didn't mean any harm up until now.
But that doesn't mean he won't be pulling some type of prank on you again or something. With an exaggerated gasp he disappears from his comfortable spot on the couch, reappearing next to you with an arm around your shoulders.
“Can't a Genie be a little nice and help their master for once without being called suspicious? I'm hurt...”, leaning against your frame, the being floats the food and drink over to him and forces your mouth to open and eat your breakfast with his magic. “Now if I remember correctly you have school so we can't waste anymore time right? Oh! I have an idea, why don't you wish-”, “No.”
He looks back at your face with a deadpan, “You didn't even let me finish.”
~*~*
'God, when is this day going to end... Who in their right mind decided it's better to have three hours of math as the last subject of the day. On mondays. For the rest of the few weeks we have left here.' you think in disbelief once hearing the news from your teacher before the lunchbell rings.
“Why the long face?”, you hear Dhabruan tease after he left his lamp in your bag and made himself comfortable on your right shoulder. Shrinked to a smaller size again and letting his feet dangle.
“You heard what our teacher said, three whole hours of math as the last subject of the day. God sometimes I just wish-”, “Yes?” noticing what you just said your (e/c) gaze turns towards the smiling genie who's batting his dark eyelashes at you.
Shaking your head with a small sigh you mutter, “Dhabruan I'm not going to waste a wish for this!”, he crosses his arms but doesn't shake off his smile. “Whatever master.”, “Stop calling me that I told you it's fine if you just call me by my name.”
The two of you keep having conversations casually as you get yourself some food in the cafeteria and head to the rooftop. You were in the middle of a sentence when someone bumps into your shoulder. Luckily you didn't spill anything, your genie on the other hand had to get a hold of your (h/l) hair, the sudden contact surprising him and almost making him fall to the ground. Though he quickly recovered and reappeared on your shoulder again.
“Hey watch where you're going!”, and if the day hasn't been bad already now you had to bump into Bethany of all people. “Sorry.”
The brunette picks up the phone she dropped and glares at you as she now stands before you with her hands sassily on her hips. “Ugh it's the weirdo (y/n) again. Have you become this lonely to be talking to yourself now? Pathetic.”, she checks her phone for any damages then gasps. “Are you serious!? Do you know how much that case costs? Now it's ruined because of you!”, with a blank expression you listen to her rant about it, other students giving you looks of confusion as they pass by.
She practically shoves her phone to your face, the many gems and rings glittering a little to much for your taste. 'Ruined is not really the right word... It's just a damn scratch, who in their right mind would even buy a case like that?'
Meanwhile Dhabruan is confused from this whole ordeal, even sharing a glance with you before he snaps his fingers, stopping everything around you and then transporting the both of you to the rooftop. Snapping his fingers again to unfreeze everything, probably leaving Bethany alone in the hall. “Well that was certainly... Interesting.”, you nod in response and thank him for the help.
“What did this girl even mean with "this lonely"? Pretty much anyone your age has someone! You do have friends right?”
There was silence between you two before you sit down on a bench keeping your (e/c) on the floor, Dhabruan joining beside you. His red gaze not leaving you and listening attentively. But before you could tell him the door to the rooftop opens with a loud bang.
“There she is!”, great she's back and by the looks of it she's not alone. “That's the one who shoved me!” Ok first of all, it wasn't a shove and second, it's not like anyone or anything got harmed.
The group of five girls surround you. You don't want to deal with any of this, so you get up and try to get out of here. Only to be grabbed by your (h/l) hair and shoved to the ground, away from the bench and your Genie.
You take in a sharp inhale when you feel your palms scrape against the floor. Two of the girls hold you in place while Bethany and the others begin to laugh at the display. One of the blondes by her sides searches through your pockets until she pulls out your own phone and hands it to her. “If you think you can get away with this then you're dead wrong!”
Bethany holds your phone up in the air, and with all her might throws it to the ground, screen shattering. “There. That's what you get for being a rude bitch, I can't believe that I've been friends with the likes of you.”, she huffs satisfied, a victorious grin plastered upon her face.
That last comment brought back some unwanted memories which you wish you could forget. But if you did, you wouldn't learn and maybe even do the same mistake all over again.
You glare up at her, “Can't believe it either but, you know what? At least I learned to hang around with the right people and not the ones who are just being my friend because they can.”, you grin, “Having no friends at all is way better than having so many that won't even really consider you as one.”, the two girls who've been keeping you still glance at each other nervously. “Thinking back it made me realize how full of shit certain people are.”
This caused a few gasps to erupt among the group. The brunette grits her teeth in anger, “What the hell did you just say?!”, “Did I stutter? Right, you only listen if you want to hear it.” you respond nonchalantly.
That's when Bethany has had enough. Shoving the blonde, who's been watching the situation silently unfold, out of the way when she tried to calm her down. Shutting your eyes you brace for the impact of her hand coming down towards you.
But it never came. Your (e/c) widen slightly, seeing a familiar pale hand holding your bully's own in a tight grip. Just inches away from your face by the wrist. Bethany struggles to free herself, not even knowing what's holding her down. Slowly thick smoke surrounds the group and the girls let go of you in surprise before all run off in fright. Leaving you alone with Bethany and the supernatural being.
“W-What?! What's happening? Something's grabbing my hand! Why-!”, Bethany quickly stops her struggles when the dark haired figure decides to make himself visible for her. You've never seen Dhabruan like this before, yes, he did get frustrated and annoyed a lot and had his moments. Granted you've known him only for this long, but he looks just downright... terrifying. His hair and attire flowing as if caught in the wind, while a dark aura surrounds him.
“Humans like you... Make me sick.”, he seethes in a low tone, his voice seeming to echo just like when you first met him. Eyes glowing a dark red. The brunette only shakes under his intimidating gaze, frozen in place.
“Consider yourself lucky. If I would happen to be free and not under my master's command, who knows if your pathetic little being would still be standing here. Now get out of here.”, Dhabruan releases her from his tight hold and watches her scurry off with tears in her eyes.
You can't believe he protected you and went as far as even threaten your ex best friend. It made you feel a little bit warm inside to see him actually stand up and reveal himself for your sake. It's strange, you can't really decipher that feeling yet because you've never felt like this for someone ever before, so you shake off these thoughts when he turns towards you, now back to his normal calmer looking self.
“Do you need any assistance?”, getting a hold of your hand he pulls you to your feet and fixes your messy self with a quick snap of his fingers. “Thank you-”, “You idiot!” You blink once. Then twice. Letting out a confused sound as he looks down at you like a scolding parent.
“Why didn't you wish for me to help you?! Or maybe wish for some kind of self defense skills or- whatever! It has been an emergency situation, the perfect opportunity and yet you let yourself almost get beaten!”, with a heavy sigh and a shake of his head he reaches out and ruffles your hair. With his gaze turned away he mumbles, “At least you're safe now...”
You smile, “You didn't have to help me, but you did. Don't tell me... Have you finally warmed up to me? Aww!” a faint red tint appears on his pale cheeks and he immediately clears his throat. Not denying anything you just said.
Dhabruan snaps his fingers again, your phone appearing in your hands fixed up and as good as new. “There, I figured you would appreciate it if it's fixed. You humans do make a lot of fuss about your tiny screens alot if something happens. But no more free wishes anymore!”
With a poof of smoke the ravenette disappears and reappears on your shoulder in his smaller self, “We can continue our talk some other time when you're ready.”, pulling lightly on your (h/c) strands he signals for you to move. Which you do once the bell rings, signalling the end of your break. On your way back you glance down towards him, the Genie still avoiding your gaze.
“Seriously, thank you for doing this though.”, “Yeah, yeah whatever. Quit saying all that mushy stuff.” he turns so you can't see his face, a small smile forming on his lips. 'You're welcome (y/n)...'
Extra:
~Back at home~
“By the way, what happens to Bethany and the other girls? They saw you didn't they? Should we be worried?”, you ask. Dhabruan turns his attention away from the chips he's eating and waves a dismissive hand towards you. “Don't worry my friend. That won't be a problem.”
...
“So I am your friend-?”
“Shut up and keep watching that... Whatever that is you're watching! What even is this abomination?”
Le gasp, “Don't say that to poor Pingu!”
~Meanwhile~
“Now Bethany, how did you get that bruise?”, the nurse asks as she examines the brunette's wrist. “I was at the rooftop a-and then!”, the girl pauses and furrows her eyebrows.
“I can't really remember...” The nurse sighs and shakes her head. “Not even a little bit?”, “I-I'm not sure! There was a ghost or something? Maybe it's haunting me because of all I did!” Bethany keeps rambling about and the nurse sits in front of her with a tired face listening to her talk more of the nonsense.
“I'm not getting paid enough for this. Wait... I don't even get paid...”
Part 2: Click
Tumblr media
"Thank you! Please do come again!", thanking the seller as well, you take the bag full of snacks and other tasty treats from the man and continue your way through the different stalls. The wonderful different scents of all kinds of fresh made foods wafts through the air and into your nose each breath you take in.
Finally after a rough day at school you got to go home and enjoy the weekend, all cozied up in a nice blanket, watching all your favorite shows with all the nice treats you just bought for yourself in the local outdoor market.
The market opens only for a week before you have to wait for another three more until you're able to go there again. And you won't miss this opportunity on getting the best self made caramel candies from old granny Lauren.
She always gives those out to her costumers after buying one or more of her many different knick knacks she found and collected. Where she finds these things has always been a mystery to you, she never gave you a proper answer. Mostly because she actually forgot where she picked a certain thing up.
Your (e/c) eyes spot the familiar older woman, wearing her grey hair in a bun and red rimmed glasses sitting upon her nose, cleaning some of her newest collections with a feather duster.
With a smile you greet her, "Good afternoon Ms. Lauren!", "Hello dear, back from school I assume? Did you have fun?". Giving you one of her own sweet smiles she places her duster away and turns her attention towards you. A small sigh escapes through your lips, as your gaze flickers briefly to the ground. "The usual?", with a nod of confirmation to her question you continue. "Today was actually not as bad as usual. Luckily, I have a few more weeks and exams to go and then I'm out of there."
Lauren hums along with your words as she puts the caramel candies in one of her colorful boxes, while you're checking out her newest collection. The things ranging from colorful jewelry, figures to all other kinds of stuff. But one of them seems to stand out to you the most, a lamp. It looks dark and dusty, unlike the colorful nesting dolls standing in front of it.
Your (e/c) gaze lingers on the object, feeling oddly drawn to it as if it's pulling you towards it. "Ooh are you looking at the oil lamp dear? I can't really recall where got it... But I thought I might as well just sell it off. I tried lighting it up but it didn't work. Maybe you can find some use for it."
Snapping out of whatever just happened you began pondering a little on wether or not to buy it.
At the end you decide to take it, along with a few bracelets you liked. "I will be taking these and the lamp Ms. Lauren.", "Good joice my dear, I'll give you a discount for buying the lamp. And here are the caramel candies you like so much." She hands you a small plastic bag with the candies, bracelets and the dark lamp inside, offering you another kind smile.
"Are you sure? I can pay the lamp as well.", you already know she's going to reject your offer, yet you still ask her whenever you're visiting her stall. 'Oh well. Can't complain if I'm getting something cheaper! Not to mention free candy!', you think as you hand her the money. The both of you say your goodbyes and you finally make your way back home.
The sun is starting to set once you make it to the doorstep of the apartment, the vibrant hues of red and purple slowly fading in the distance as the sun vanishes behind the buildings and horizon.
A soft gust of wind blowing through your (h/c) hair. You enjoyed watching those in the past and you still do, but you're just too tired at the moment. Things change after all. Once you finally made it to your room, you pull off your (f/c) jacket and shoes, before placing your bags on the small table standing in front of your couch.
Not wasting any more time you throw yourself on the couch and grab a blanket, wrapping yourself up like a borito. You reach for the remote and turn on one of your favorite shows on Netflix, your other hand shuffling through the small plastic bag to grab the box of delicious candy and plop them into your mouth after opening the pink lid. And if you already started taking out some stuff out of one bag, why not everything? You thought to yourself. Placing the bag of treats aside you take the other and pick out the bracelets, until your fingers brush against the cold surface of the oil lamp.
Carefully grabbing it with both hands you turn it around to get a better look at it, some of the dust particles which haven't come off yet clinging onto your fingertips and palms. "Great. Let's get you cleaned first before I make more of a mess here." You sigh as you quickly stand up and get a wet cloth to clean the lamp with.
Starting with the nozzle you work your way around it, admiring the details of the engravings and the golden shine it gets back after getting properly cleaned. One red gem sitting at the nozzle and another close to the base of the handle.
"It looks like one of those magic lamps someone would find in movies or shows. Huh... It's pretty. I wonder if an actual Genie would come out after I rub it." Chuckling at the idea you quickly dismiss that thought.
There's no way something like that is ever going to happen. It's not a fantasy story after all. As you trace the golden rim that strange feeling that seemed to pull you towards this item from before comes flooding back and you have this strange desire to actually rub the lamp. And that's what you do.
At first nothing seems to happen after you snapped out of it once again, rubbing your temple from this weird occurrence. 'What's wrong with me today?! Have I slept even less than usual? No it can't be, I'm sure it was four hours. Or was it just two?' But then the metal in your hand begins to heat up.
Interrupting your train of thought and resulting your hand to toss it away, the lamp landing back on the table. The lid starts to shake and all of the sudden dark grey smoke starts spewing out of the nozzle, rising up towards your white ceiling.
Your (e/c) widen in shock, not having any idea of what's going to happen you quickly hide behind your couch to take cover, just peaking over the backrest to witness what's about to happen next.
"W-What the hell is happening!?", you squeal in fear when suddenly a loud and powerful explosion goes off from the nozzle. The floor and furniture shaking, making you clutch onto the couch for support, the sheer force making you shake in your kneeling position as well. Fully taking cover you tightly close your eyes, your arms above your head. Your legs tremble underneath you, and only then when you're feeling sure enough that everything was over after a long moment of silence you take another peek.
"Greetings Mortal. You have rubbed the lamp and released me, the heavens have been opened and your wishes will be granted!"
There floating in the middle of your living room is a young, lean and fairly muscular looking man with long black hair segmented in a single ponytail, which reaches down to his ankles. He's wearing a white scarf on his shoulders, underneath it a black choli with golden hems, black harem pants and golden bangle bracelets that extend from his elbows to his wrists, as well as a golden bangle necklace with a ruby in the center.
His booming voice falling silent when his red ringed eyes fell upon your form that's slowly rising up from your hiding spot, staring in shock and bewilderment at the being you just released. "Ah... A peasant girl. Well that should be over quick and easy.", he quietly mutters to himself in a normal voice now, holding his chin in thought. You did catch every bit of it though, which makes you feel just a little bit offended. Sure you're not the richest person alive but still.
He quickly puts on a smug grin and floats over to you, his voice once again gaining on volume. "I see you're still speechless, I don't blame you. It's not everyday you'll get your hands on a magical lamp like this. With one of the most powerful beings on earth!", disappearing and reappearing behind you, he shoves his lamp into your grasp while one of his hands rests on your left shoulder, his face on your right a little to close for comfort. His dark strands tickling your (s/c) cheek.
"You are the one who released me right?", he asks, dark eyebrows raised in question. "Uhm yes?", you're confused.
How is it possible? You thought things like that only existed in stories or legends, or fairytales. Never in your life would you have ever expected to meet a real Genie in your apartment room. Let alone ever awakening one yourself. So you couldn't help but ask and prod at him, just to make sure you're not imagining things as you pull on his cheeks.
"Are you really a real Genie? I'm not dreaming right, where are the cameras? This must be some kind of prank right? Some silly joke the neighbors must've set up!"
The pale skinned male winces from the sudden uncalled for gesture and with a grunt he pulls himself away. "I assure you not!", he growls out, his words echoing as he speaks and rises up behind you gaining in size, glaring you down with his burning gaze.
"YOU, are my master now. And I, grant three wishes to the one who has rubbed the magic lamp. Do you want to be famous? Powers you could only imagine in your wildest dreams? Unendless amounts of riches? Just tell me anything what you wish for and it all shall be yours." he exclaims a hint of annoyance lacing on the whole 'whishes' part.
"Now, that we got that cleared up. Wish away.", you blink up at him at his sudden change of demeanor. His menacing aura now replaced once again in a blink of an eye. A grin once again adorning his handsome face, while waiting expectantly for you to make a wish as he wiggles his fingers. Dark sparkles dancing around them. Sure, if you were a Genie trapped inside a lamp in like maybe hundreds of years and only being able to get out of there when granting someone's wishes, you would not be feeling any better than this man.
He seems rather determent on getting over with your wishes, but wouldn't that mean he will just quickly end up in that lamp again? You also don't want to waste your wishes on simple things you can just solve yourself.
"So... You are a real Genie.", "Yes.", "And I get three wishes.", "That's what I just told you, yes." The being is slowly starting to get impatient. Why haven't you made your first wish yet?! Back then people knew about the existence of him and didn't need a whole ass explanation. Everyone else before you knew what they wanted and didn't waste any of his time! His frown only increases when you're about to ask another question, disappearing in a cloud of grey smoke he reappears once more a few feet in front of you, shrunken back to his normal size.
With a strained laugh he interrupts you, "Look, peasant girl. I don't have time or patience for all your questions and neither am I here to be your friend." You put your hands on your hips like a mother lecturing her child, "Ok. First of all, I'm not a peasant, also I didn't ask you to become my friend! I won't just call anyone my friend, you have to earn my friendship to become a real one. But if you want to, we can try being friends." He opens his mouth but closes it once again, caught of guard by your offering.
"Wait what...", he stutters, "W-Whatever! I don't need friends..", huffing he crosses his arms before continuing. "Are you going to wish for something or not?"
With a soft sigh you say, "Not yet.", "Not yet?", the genie repeats, letting out a bitter laugh.
"Listen carefully, I was inside this lamp for over thousand of years, served at least more than 20 masters up until now. They knew what they wanted and wished. Boom! Back in the lamp I went every single time having all the sweet time alone, by myself, in peace!", then he points an accusing finger at you, "And now you come along and can't even think of a single wish! Anyone has a wish! Everybody has something they oh so dearly want or desire! So the sooner we get this over with the better."
The being has a point, everyone could think of at least one thing they could wish for. This doesn't change your mind at all though.
You ponder, it sounded like he has no problem at all being trapped in this object, in fact he prefers to be alone in there. But wouldn't someone who's been trapped for this long at least try to be free? You're curious. After all, he did turn a bit more sour, more than he already was, when telling you this. Yet you did not let yourself get affected.
"Is there anything I can't wish for? I mean there must be something like consequences if someone can wish for pretty much anything right?" you ask, tilting your head towards him when you notice him eyeing your tv, having given up on convincing you for now. "Oh right I didn't tell you that did I?" With a shake of your head no he holds his hand up counting off the rules. "In short, no wishing for more wishes, no creating or ending life, and you also cannot effect free will. Meaning you can’t make a person feel a certain way with a wish. Other than that there are no consequences, I'm not that mean you know.", he puffes out his cheeks in a pout looking at you.
You thank him for explaining to you, it's better than not knowing about it and you feel better with that out of the way. The being already figured out it will take way longer than he initially thought, looks like he has to get comfortable with staying with you for some time longer.
Well that's a first.
He just hopes he won't get to attached to you. It's been so long ever since he had someone else to interact with let alone have someone as a friend after all. The ravenette has to admit, he did feel surprised and even happy when you offered your friendship. Not that he will ever tell you out loud.
"I'm (Y/n) by the way. It's nice meeting you and having you as my... uh well Genie. What's your name?", your hand reaches out towards him ready for a handshake, his red orbs gazing into your (e/c) ones. Name? All previous masters referred to him as either Genie or slave. None of them asked for his name before, and those who did either forgot it or didn't care afterwards. Reluctantly he places his hand into yours.
"Dhabruan."
JJBA One Shot: Joseph x Quiet!Female!Reader
In this one shot Joseph and reader won't have any romantic feelings for each other. Just a little fun and flirting in this one.
Also a small hint of Caesar x Reader
Tumblr media
"Come on say something! Why are you never talking to me, it's getting real' annoying you know!"
You stand across from Joseph keeping your eyes on him and start calming your breathing as he readies his clackers. The both of you are now in one of the training grounds, ready to get this fight over with. Well Joseph more than you that is, 'Ugh, I hate training! I'm still exhausted from the last round! Why can't Caesar do this for now? But I have a chance to talk with (Y/n) this way! So keep your cool Joseph!'.
Caeser is watching the both of you still catching his breath from his last battle with Joseph. Standing beside him are the two instructors Messina and Loggins who paired you and Joseph up together for the last round, keeping an eye on each of you.
Normally it's Lisa Lisa who would train with you, but she insisted that you should also train with the boys at some point before all of you have to face the Pillarmen. You and Caeser were already friends for a few years, training together under Lisa Lisa's watch. The bond between you and him growing each day. So knowing you're not the most talkative type of person made the blond quite mad once Joseph started flirting with you at your first meeting by the fountain.
And ever since then he tried as often as he could to strike a conversation with you, wether it's just random pick up lines or small talk resulting with you either ignoring him or giving short replies. You had no idea why he was trying so hard anyway, it's not like you hate him or anything you just didn't like having short conversations with someone. Especially with those you're not close enough. Unbeknownst to you Joseph feels weirdly attached to you, he wants to be as close to you like Caeser is. There's just this strange mysterious aura of yours that keeps nagging him to try befriending you.
He kept trying to get closer to you from time to time ever since he met you, only to be either rejected by you or someone or something getting in his way. Which was mostly an overprotective blond Italian. It really got on Joseph's nerves but he kept on trying either way, he knew you didn't hate him. At least he hoped and told himself so.
But back to the current situation now.
"Get ready. Start!" once Messina's words reaches your ears, Joseph begins to fill his clackers with hamon, spinning them around and grinning from ear to ear as he plans his next moves. "I wasn't planning on fighting against a woman today. But it looks like I have no other choice than to get my balls ready!" You lift an eyebrow in confusion and shrug it off, also ignoring the quite loud surprised and irritated gasp coming from Caesar.
Joseph makes the first move, throwing one of his clackers towards you. You dodge his attack only to have the next one thrown at you, barely getting out of its way. Noticing the Joestar moving around made you wary of what kind of idea he's gotten into his mind. Even with the lack of conversation, you know that Joseph is a witty but intelligent individual with a bunch of tricks he can pull out of his sleeves.
"Oh so you noticed my trap? Damn! I thought I could get away with that." You know for every plan he's got another plan. Concentrating your breathing again, you start charging at him jumping over the lines of yarn he connected to some small pillars standing all around the arena. Joseph didn't expect you to be moving towards him as he exclaims, "I didn't see that coming! If you really want to get closer, then come as close as you like!", pulling on the yarn he has in his grasp, makes another string he must have layed out get loose.
'Not this time!', is what you think as you pull out your whip filling the end with your hamon and cut through the string that was about to immobilize you. The whip was given to you by Lisa Lisa as a reward for completing the basics of her training and overcoming the hell climb pillar. Another crack of the whip towards a pillar behind Joseph makes it crumble as the energy flows through the cracks which you filled with hamon, resulting for the male to run from the collapsing stone. "OH SHIT!"
Before anything could happen to him his gaze travels to the whip that wraps around his foot and pulls him away from the danger. He yells out in shock as he gets yanked over towards you, landing roughly on his back and letting out a few grunts of pain. Walking over to his form and stretching your arm out towards him you wait for a few seconds as he looks up at your hand, up to your face, back to your hand then back to your face again before he puts his hand in yours, "It was a short one but still a good little fight. Let's just say it's a draw once we get back and to be honest, I don't feel like training for much longer as well." Joseph blinks his mouth hanging open a bit as he pulls himself up with your help.
"Close that mouth of yours before you catch a fly Jojo.", You laugh softly at his dumbfounded expression, but the surprise quickly changes to amusement a cheeky grin now plastered on his face as he chuckles. "A draw? Hehe, no. It's definitely a win for me!" Right after he said that something sweeps your feet off the ground, you falling on your back from the sudden contact letting out a small "oof" as you hit the ground.
"Hah! Clacker boomerang! Always works!", Joseph holds his clackers up in triumph, with small smirk forming on his lips he holds out his hand to you and helps you up like you did before. "Looks like you fell for me at the end (Y/n)! Can't resist me at the end of the day huh?" There's a small silence between the two of you, making the Joestar actually a tad bit worried that his pick up line would actually reduce the chance of being friends with you. But instead of you ignoring him for it like he thought you would do like always, he's relieved to hear you chuckle. "Maybe I did. I'll see you later Jojo."
You pat him on his arm winking at him, before making your way over to your blond friend who immediately checks for any scratches or wounds. Meanwhile Joseph has a little celebration for himself, which is not that quiet as he thinks it is, "That's the longest time she ever talked to me! I'm making progress, I'm the best! No one can escape the charm of Joseph Joestar!"
"Jojo! How long are you going to stand there? Do you want to train a few hours more?", Joseph immediately gets out of his loud train of thoughts by the mention of more training from his instructor. "I'm already on my way back can't you see?! I was just taking my time getting my clackers back you know?" After picking up his weapons he wastes no time getting back inside the huge building you and Caeser went into.
'Who knows, maybe our friendship will grow stronger than the one she has with Caesarino. Hehe I wouldn't mind that! He would totally get jealous!'
Back inside, Caeser keeps talking about being careful of guys like Joseph, not to get comfortable around him to fast and so on and so forth, keeping an arm around your shoulders as you make your ways to your rooms. "...And remember what I told you, if he gets to close for your liking or if he gets to annoying, don't be afraid to defend yourself. Or just tell me if you need help.", "Caeser I'm going to be fine, I can take care of myself. You sound like my dad, you've been acting a little strange lately." A faint blush crosses over his cheeks glancing away for a second to hide his embarrassment. Caeser lets out a deep sigh when you both stop in front of your room, lifting his arm from your shoulders and looks you in the eyes.
"I know, I know. (Y/n), I'm just worried.?" The last few words came out more of as a question than he wanted to. "I just want you to know that I-", "Hey (Y/n)! Wanna hang out after your training is done tomorrow?" You both look over at Joseph who's walking up to the both of you, waving. With a small kind smile you answer him quickly, "Yeah sure." Turning back to Caeser you ask him what he was going to say only for him to shrug it off and say that it wasn't important anyway.
Knowing him he would definitely tell you some other time, so you don't press any further. "Alright. I'll see you guys both tomorrow. Can't wait to hang out with you Jojo." You give Caesar a quick hug like you guys always did and wave at Joseph before going into your room. "Hah! What do you think Caeser? You think she likes me? I bet she does! Today's training was so worth it!"
"...Did you know that I really hate you sometimes Jojo?", Joseph starts to sweat and laugh nervously at Caesar's tone of voice. Annoyance clearly dripping off every word as he glares at him, cracking his knuckles. "And now that I remember, we still have to fight against each other in our next training. So why don't we do it just now amico?", "Then I will have no choice than to use my all or nothing gambit Caesarino..."
"Nigerundayo!"
"OI COME BACK HERE SO I CAN KICK YOUR ASS JOESTAR!"
And Caesar chases Joseph through the whole building, running past a confused Suzi a few times who's going on with her chores for the day, "Huh. I'll never understand those men... Oh well! Let's just get this stuff over to (Y/n), I wonder what she'll tell me about this time! Probably more about Caesar and Jojo." With a shrug she heads for your room ready for some nice conversations and funny gossip.
So what did you guys think of this one? (ㆁωㆁ) This is actually my first try of writing a one shot, so I'm sorry if it's not all that good (^~^;)ゞ. But I still hope you'll enjoy! :3
