German postcard by Ross Verlag, no. 1783/1, 1927-1928. Photo: Arthur Ziehm, Berlin.
Italian silent film star Carmen Boni (1901-1963) had a successful career in the Italian cinema of the early 1920s, before moving to Germany where she made one film after another in the late 1920s.

Is it just me, or has it been harder to donate things to charity? It seems many places no longer want secondhand items if they can just request money to purchase new items for kids in foster care, disaster victims, etc. I fully understand that too many people have donated unuseable things with rips, stains, past expiration, and that is dehumanizing to people who are in desperate situations. That shit needs to stop (and more recycling/composting services should be available for that instead). But there are still plenty of perfectly useful things sitting in people's closets that have nowhere else to go.
I fear that if charities keep going this direction, more people will resort to throwing away perfectly good things if it is their only easy option. The charities will then lose out, because not everyone has lots of money to spare. But lots of people are trying to overcome hoarding.
I've also noticed that many thrift stores are closing, because classist neighborhoods want to drive out people with low incomes. The few shops that survive tend to be for-profit and are a total mess. I can't even enjoy thrifting anymore the way I used to. Maybe it is just where I live now and it has always been that way here. But I don't think I'm imagining things.
What everyone on the internet refuses to understand for some reason, is that pleather is vegan in the same way oreos are.
It isn't made for us. We are not the target nor leading consumer. The average nonvegan uses more pleather because it isn't always easy to tell if it's animal or not in the first place. And just like oreos are a cheap and easy product that technically we can consume too, there is actual vegan leather made out of more sustainable products with that goal is mind.
Like all you're doing is literally making posts saying "Pleather (plastic leather) is plastic" and dusting off your hands as if you made the biggest brain post when you quite literally just defined a word and any moral context actually is pointing back at you so idk what you're getting at
I really hate "it's okay " responses when I am trying to vent my feelings. I find it to be patronizing more than helpful, and it has never once made me feel better to hear that.
Sometimes I even find it to be gaslighty, because it is not always okay. My anxiety is not always lying to me, sometimes it is telling me harsh truths, and I need a different approach.
