How do readers choose a book? Many readers are hooked by a cover first and then move to the description and author name to decide whether to buy. Reader picks are books that are recommended by readers to other readers. Readers follow their interests and generally stay with a handful of favorite authors. Some people have a natural love for reading and develop reading skills at a young age, while others may not have an interest in reading until later in life but develop the skills through encouragement and practice. Naming Your Novel

To me, the hardest part of writing a novel is, what to name it. The title needs to be catchy and provoke interest without giving away the whole plot of the story. It should be only one to five words, longer gets hard to remember, and just looks messy. It should give a "hint" of what's inside, but not too much. Play on words is good but not too close to other titles. 'Silence of the Lambs' was named from the conversation Starling and Hannibal had about when she was at the rancher's, and she crept down during the slaughter of the lambs. Just a small portion of the story, but a big deal. And what a perfect title and great example. So remember to stay within these guidelines and most importantly, "Enjoy the Write!" KSCarson

Hardback or Paperback?

As an avid reader, I choose hardback over paperback. Especially if collecting a certain author's works, they are just nicer and easier to read. The allure of hardcover books stems from their larger size, durability, and premium quality, making them a preferred choice for many readers. On the other hand, some individuals opt for paperback editions due to their lower cost, lighter weight, and enhanced portability. Which do you prefer? Would love to hear from you! Are Writers Hermits?

I guess writers do spend a good amount of time on their own, but are they really hermits? Writers also need to socialize with each other for perspective, advice, and some semblance of sanity. It is a good idea to take time to brainstorm and get creative juices flowing. Sometimes alone time can help that, but on the other hand, writers need to get motivation from outside sources. What Is An Essay?

Essay, that is a weird word huh? But is it weird to do, and why would you write one? You probably wrote an essay sometime while in school. An essay is a short piece of writing on a particular subject. The importance of essay writing is that it allows you, as an author, to assess your personal response to a question, deepen your learning about a topic, demonstrate your knowledge, and develop transferable skills for professional life. The dictionary defines gratitude as; The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. The part I love best as a writer is the "To return kindness," part. Important Experiences
