"Those who deserve respect are given it freely. If one must demand such a thing, he’ll never truly command it. I’d rather be a lowly wretch on the streets than live in a house full of cages. Do not lecture me on propriety when it’s a virtue you so grossly lack."

I think this is the prettiest world – so long as you don’t mind a little dying, how could there be a day in your whole life that doesn’t have its splash of happiness?

“Let the tears which fell, and the broken words which were exchanged in the long close embrace between the orphans, be sacred. A father, sister, and mother, were gained, and lost, in that one moment. Joy and grief were mingled in the cup; but there were no bitter tears: for even grief arose so softened, and clothed in such sweet and tender recollections, that it became a solemn pleasure, and lost all character of pain.”

the raven cycle + friendship
while i love the magic and the adventure in the raven cycle, what i love most about the series is the friendship that is developed throughout the books. a friendship that within itself is magical and dreamy. a friendship that has grown and adapted and matured so beautifully. a friendship between characters that feels alive and genuine. that is what i love most about the raven cycle and it is something i hope to see in call down the hawk.
