Away From Love

“Just remember that I’m one phone call away alright?”

Those were the last words you heard from her before she left you standing at the airport. Luggage in hand as she slowly walks towards her future, but far away from you. You wish for her to stay a little longer, but she’ll miss her opportunity, and you can’t take that away from her. Sighing deeply, you then remember the conversation you had with her the night before.

Both of you were lying in bed, in each other’s grasp. Tomorrow your darling is going to leave the country to pursue her work, but you couldn’t accept the fact that she’s leaving so soon. She was the light of your life, your other half. Unable to do anything, your grip around her tightened.

She noticed and chuckled softly, “Dear I know that you’re sad that I have to leave, but remember that I’m doing this for us, for our future.”

You stayed silent as you reminisced your favorite memories with your darling. Your first meeting, your first date, your first kiss and everything else. How she complimented you on how cute the matching dresses you bought were, the many times you had to save each other from weirdos who were trying to “change you”, and now you have to go through everything on your own. Tears silently fell from your face as a response.

Not liking to see your sad face, she pushed your head into her chest. She softly patted your head in a comforting way, like a mother would do to her crying child.

“Hush now, once again I know we’ll be far away from each other, but that doesn’t mean that I’m giving up on us.” She said in a soft tone. You looked up to her and saw her smiling, but you knew, that behind that smile, she was feeling as much sadness as you.

“But we are inseparable, a team, do you really need to go?” You replied with a muffled voice, still covered by her breasts.

She answered, “I have no choice dear, if I there was an option I would bring you with me as well…” and silence fell for a quick moment until she said, “Since tomorrow will be the day I leave, I want you to do me one favor, is that alright?”

You nodded.

“All I want you to do is stay strong for me, okay?”

“All passengers for flight XXXX, please board the plane immediately.”

The announcement shook you off your thoughts as your darling stared at your sad face.

“Well, that’s my queue.” Your darling sighed as she started grabbing her things. “I’ll miss you, call me when you feel down okay?” She smiled, you couldn’t help but smile back at her too.

She then leaned in to plant a kiss on your lips, of course you kissed back as a response. This will be your last with her after all, and you wanted to make the most of it. Your kiss lasted a bit long, as you both parted lips, panting for air. She placed a hand on your cheek, and you leaned towards, reminiscing her warmth on more time. You then whispered to her,

“I promise I’ll stay strong for you and for us.”

You’re currently in bed, crying.

The first few days weren’t bad, until the world decided to be a bitch and that everything must remind you of her. Like the mug she always uses when she drinks her coffee in the morning, the meals you both ate together while talking about your day, the shops you both went into to look for new clothes, everything just reminded you of her, and that was your breaking point. You did have your chats for a while since she couldn’t call you, but that wasn’t enough.

Soft sniffles were heard in the bedroom as you were in a fetal position, hugging yourself tightly. You were wearing one of your girlfriend’s shirts, as you are both nearly the same size. Her soft scent filled your senses as more tears continued to stream down your face. That is, until you hear your phone go off.

You stopped crying then and there, nobody would call at this hour of the night. Immediately scrambling up to get your phone in the nightstand. You checked the caller ID, you were surprised! It was your girlfriend. Without a second thought, you answered.

“Dear, it’s me. Are you alright? I sensed something was wrong so I called.”

Her voice, oh my goodness, her voice. It was smooth and soothing, like the wind brushing past you as you walk into a flowery meadow. A sweet and gentle tone, with some concern laced onto it. You shuddered lightly, tears starting to well up in your eyes once again after hearing her talk. Her concern rises more as she says,

“Dear, it’s okay. Just listen to the sound of my voice…

Breathe in, breathe out.”

You did exactly as she said, slowly breathing in and releasing gasps of breath. She really is great in terms of helping you calm down.

“I’m right here, I won’t leave you.”

But you did leave, and I’m all alone here.

Pushing those thoughts to the back of your head, you took a deep sigh. Your darling continues where she left off,

“Look, I’m sorry for not calling sooner. I was just so busy that I wasn’t given the time to do so…”

It took all your willpower not to break down again. So you tried to answer as calmly as possible,

“Darling, it’s alright. I understand that you were busy…”

But your darling knew you better than that, you can sense her disappointment through the other end.

“I guess you breaking down on me means you “understood”. Dear, I know you like the back of my hand, you were sad and angry.”

You knew you couldn’t switch the topic or lie your way out, so it’s best to just come out clean.

“I’m sorry, I really am sorry. I tried so hard to be strong, for you, for us. But I can’t…”

You started to break down into sobs once again, but you had to tell her the truth.

“Darling, I need you here with me. I can’t do anything without you here. Everything just became so dull ever since you left, I was desperate.”

Your lover stayed silent for a moment before she answered,

“I didn’t know you were feeling that way...

Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“Because I knew you were going to drop everything to just find a way to comfort me. I can’t be a burden to you love.”

“You were never a burden to me! Yes, I do get a bit overwhelming but that doesn’t mean you can hide what you’re truly feeling from me.”

A quick pause was heard. After that, she continued once more,

“Dear, we’re in this together right? If you’re feeling low, then please, you are free to call me anytime. I don’t want you to struggle alone. We shall get through this together.”

After that talk, you started discussing about normal things. About her life on the other side, what’s been happening while she was away, it was as if nothing happened a couple of minutes. Both of you were smiling and giggling like school girls about the stories you told one another. Time flew fast as your eyes were starting to get heavy, it was getting harder and harder to stay awake. Your girlfriend noticed your sudden change of behavior and smiled softly,

“It’s already getting late on your side. You should go to bed, we can continue talking next time.”

You responded, “Alright, stay safe out there.”

“You too, you still have a big day coming ahead of you. Now sleep well for me, Ai*.”

*Ai - meaning "love" in japanese

Vel's Writing Cafe Opening ☕

Hello there 👋 Welcome to Vels Writing Cafe, a cafe themed writing blog 😊. My name is Vel, I started this blog as a way to practice my writing skills with the English language. I hope that I will be able to give you something with my writing. May you enjoy your time with me here as I give you my best services ♥. But first I would like you to read our rules and DNI criteria.

General Rules:

Vel's Writing Cafe is only ran by one person. In the future, if I'll be taking writing requests, please do not force me to do it immediately, I also have a life outside of Tumblr. But I will try my best to get the requests done with the best quality as well.

Inbox and Submissions are always open, there are times where I am busy so I might not be able to see your messages.

Please do not submit anything sexual/harmful in my inbox or submissions. I also cannot write smut so please no smut requests.

I have the right to turn down any request if it makes me uncomfortable.

There will be a limit to the number of requests I'll do, it is also a "first come, first serve" basis.

Feedback and criticism is well appreciated as long as its worded nicely, especially since I'm still new in writing. Hate comments will be deleted and the account will be blocked.

Once again I am only writing because I need to improve my skills with the English language, if you do not like my content, then you are free to leave.

DNI Criteria:

Please note that this blog is a safe space for anyone and everyone. But do not interact if you are: racist, ableist, xenophobic, pretty much the basic dni criteria, against LGBTQIA+, and support problematic content creators
