"if wanda hadn't have put terror in Tony's mind Ultron wouldn't have happened!!"
ah yes, very good point. because i, too, create murder bot weapons of mass destruction meant to force "protection" on a world that doesn't want it when I've had a bad dream.

mate dont tag pro wanda maximoff and pro team cap when its obviously anti team cap
it’s interesting how wanda maximoff, a 27 year old woman in civil war, is supposedly a “child soldier” for steve’s team at the airport battle, but peter parker, a 14 year old, isn’t.

D E F I N I T I O N S
Hello, it has come to my attention that certain terms in a lot of Marvel media are not used correctly. Please note that various of these terms are very serious and spreading misinformation about them can be very harmful.
/
Manipulation: to manage or influence skillfully, especially in an unfair manner, to achieve personal gain.
Example: If A tells B, “You shouldn’t hang out with X, they’re very mean.” Meant to coax A into not hanging out with X again, achieving B’s personal goal.
Example #2: “If you do [this thing], I will never see you again!” meant to force the person to not do [this thing] again.
/
Gaslight: manipulate (someone) by psychological means into doubting their own sanity.
Examples: frequent lying, denying of things that were said, verbal abuse, twisting of words, targeting things dear and near to someone, more talk than action, aligning people against you (”This person thinks you suck”), and projecting.
NOTE: Mysterio showing Peter a dead Tony Stark and telling him he wasn’t good enough falls under manipulation, but this is not gaslighting.
/
Grooming: when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. Children and young people who are groomed can be sexually abused, exploited or trafficked.
Example: Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were groomed, because as young teens (ages 12-17) they were made to believe that the then still SHIELD operation in Sokovia would help them protect their city, while they were actually using and manipulating the twins for their own gain.
NOTE: Obadiah Stane building trust with Tony Stark and trying to kill him is not grooming, as Stark was 21 years old when Stane came into the picture, and Stane never actually used this connection to get what he wanted, but instead resorted to attempts of assassination. Again, this falls under a form of manipulation.
/
Coding: the term used in assigning particular traits or behaviors exclusively or predominantly to certain groups of people (male, female, black, white, Asian, etc).
NOTE: coding can only be applied to non-human creatures, or creatures who do not have a confirmed gender given to them. If you have an alien species that doesn’t differentiate, but one half is pink, have long hair and talk with high-pitched voices, you could say these aliens are “female coded”. This will never apply to humans, as we already have confirmed genders.
Example: Tony Stark is not female coded, as there are actual women in the MCU.
NOTE #2: there are also terms as “Jewish coded” and “black coded”, which can sometimes be given to non-existent species (for example in the movie “Trolls” there were a few Trolls who could be defined as “black coded”), but be very careful with this, as misuse of these terms can be very offending to people who are actually black, Muslim, Jewish, or anything else.
/
Child Soldier: Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by armed groups and used as fighters, cooks, suicide bombers, human shields, messengers, spies, or for sexual purposes.
Example: SHIELD/HYDRA making Wanda and Pietro into enhanced to then use them as weapons against enemy forces before they were of age made them child soldiers.
Example #2: Tony Stark taking Peter Parker to the Airport Battle knowing that Parker was 14 years old, was an act of making Peter a child soldier. It does not matter whether the intentions where good or not, Stark took Peter in as a fighter, which, by definition, makes Peter a child soldier.
NOTE: since Wanda Maximoff was around 20 years old at the time she joined the Civil War, she was not a child soldier.
/
Indefinite Detainment: Indefinite detainment/detention is the incarceration of an arrested person by a national government or law enforcement agency without a trial; the practice violates many national and international laws, including human rights laws.
Example: the Sokovia Accords placed Sam Wilson, Scott Lang, Wanda Maximoff and Clint Barton under indefinite detainment, meaning they were not granted lawyers or legal counsel. Neither were they given a trial.
NOTE: This is a massive violation of the Geneva Accords, and therefore illegal.
/
War Crime: according to the United Nations, a war crime is a serious breach of international law committed against civilians or “enemy combatants” during an international or domestic armed conflict. A war crime occurs when superfluous injury or unnecessary suffering is inflicted upon an enemy.
Example: Tony Stark shooting an unarmed Sam Wilson in the chest after both landed on the ground is a war crime.
Example #2: the soldiers of the raft beating up Sam Wilson is a war crime.
Example #3: Tony Stark selling weapons to the US army to illegally invade Afghanistan and target innocent villagers is a war crime.
NOTE: Steve Rogers going in against the Sokovia Accords and chasing down Bucky Barnes while ordered not to is not a war crime, but a ‘regular’ crime.
/
If there are any other terms used wrong that I did not include in this post, feel free to add.
@teamcapprotectionsquad @lightningxstriking @annebaneriddle you’ve dealt with this a lot before, did I miss anything?

“toeknee stork saved the universe!!” he didn’t tho...bruce saved the universe, he was the one who snapped his fingers and brought everyone back. toeknee saved that particular battle, snapping everyone to dust bc they didn’t want to kill everyone manually :/

I don’t get how ppl like Tonky Stork... he’s literally a war profiteer?! Not only that, but the movies establish he makes no effort to right the wrongs he committed, or donate the money he made from the deaths of Middle Eastern/Eastern European ppl to the countries he bombed... and yet, people act as tho he’s the best, most wholesome character ever
