Disney needs to knock off the discourse to get people in the theater bullshit and make the main character of the next Pirates movie based on Zheng Yi Sao. The world could use another Asian action movie star. No one would take issue, in fact, it would be incredible. One of the most successful pirates to ever live??? Based on a real woman of color who proved herself???? On the big screen??????? Holy shit yes.

I would love Buck coming out to Eddie to play out just like skam
Like Buck tells Eddie he’s interested in someone new and wants him to guess
Eddie guesses a couple girls
Buck: I’ll give you a hint. It’s not a girl.
Eddie: [loading Jonas face]
Eddie: is it me?

emily cratchit killed ebenezer scrooge (original timeline) and I will die on this hill
1.) during Priceless she discusses how she believes scrooge underpays bob and “toasts [her] hope that [scrooge] dies”
2.) during The Final Ghost, as the cratchits are remembering tiny tim, she says, “if only scrooge had raised [bob’s] salary” which heavily implies she sites scrooge underpaying bob as the reason tiny tim died
3.) scrooge had died in the timeline where tiny tim died but once tiny tim was healthy enough to survive scrooge no longer died
in conclusion: emily cratchit blamed scrooge for her son’s death and sought revenge (by killing him) but once her son was able to live scrooge was as well
note: if it is not abundantly clear, all evidence comes from starkid’s vhs christmas carol and may not hold up for other iterations

Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.

I have not been the same since Zheng Yi Sao became a character in our flag means death. It means so much to me that pirate-related media is representing her more because I never would have known about her and she is too cool to be forgotten.
For years pop culture either portrayed her as the racist "submissive asian woman" stereotype or ignored her completely. It's infuriating. Now though we have a strong portrayal of her in both doctor who and our flag means death!! Let me tell you a few things about the rightfully named "Pirate queen".
On average, most pirates died 2 years after starting piracy. Edward Teach died after two years, Stede Bonnet died after one and Israel Hands impressively died around 8 years after starting, all executed. Our pirate queen died at 68 after a successful 9 year career. In fact, she only stopped because she was made to surrender and lived the rest of her years in effective retirement.
She inherited her late husbands pirate fleets and commanded around 1,800 ships. Blackbeard is believed to have a maximum of 5- likely because he didn't get along with people well enough to amass enough crews to run them. She had the largest fleet in history.
Zheng Yi Sao was a leader and undoubtedly one of the most successful pirates ever and yet we dare to forget her.

Happy 39th Anniversary of the day five kids from different cliques attended their infamous Saturday detention to those who celebrate!

“Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you’re crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal.Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.”
THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985) - dir. John Hughes
