Pingxie Exchange 2023

*taps the mic* Is this thing on?

So, time got a little away from me and I have abruptly realized that it's that time of year again. I wanted to put out a little post to gauge whether or not there is enough interest to run this exchange again this year. But I realize that time is of the essence if I want to get this up and off the ground any time soon.

So! How about a poll?

I also had a vague thought of perhaps adding videos as an option for what you can create for a recipient and adding the DMBJ mobile game as an option the way the Time Raiders movie is an option (i.e., you can choose it but it can't be your only option). So if you could sound off in the replies if either of those would be of interest to you, that would be appreciated. ^_^

It's a little late, but November isn't over yet >.<

I feel like there is nothing much I can do to celebrate Xiaoge's birthday. So, I will just recommend several PingXie fanfictions in Zhang Qiling's perspective, using the first person or third person POV. Most of them are in canon setting. The stories are different despite in the same setting, you can give it a try (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠). Anyway, I will try to look for the missing links...

There is also a short analysis/meta/discussion about Zhang Qiling's timeline that I found on Zhihu. Maybe just some thoughts to ponder, the overall DMBJ's timeline is confusing to begin with. Although it is relatively short, their analysis is pretty neat and the comments are interesting. It's mainly focused on Xiaoge before he met Wu Xie. On a side note, it was posted in 2020. This is still one of my favorite scenes, because each time Wu Xie dedicated longest paragraphs in his notes describing Xiaoge's fingers (and the way he moves and etc), I always thought about how thirsty he is, but actually seeing them including this scene, making it so sensual and editing it from Wu Xie's eyes perspective is just... thanks, I could finally say "TOLD YOUUU" xD

Thank you to everyone who voted in the first poll! There's still a day left to vote if you'd like to, but at this point I feel confident that there is enough interest to run the exchange again this year.

So on to my next question... sign-ups for this exchange usually run from June 18th to June 28th with an assignment due date of August 10th and a work reveal date of August 17th (the day Xiaoge returned from behind the Bronze Gate).

However, this year, the Small-Medium Ship Exchange has had a delay. This means that works are due for that exchange on June 28th. Therefore, I suspect that the 18th to the 28th will be prime stress time for anyone participating in that exchange and people may not want to sign up for another in the middle of that. 😬

So I'm thinking of moving the sign-up time for this exchange to a different time.

(Also, please keep in mind that no matter when sign-ups are, your works will still be due on August 10th, and there will be a few days lag time between sign-ups and assignments going out as I run matching. So, the later sign-ups are, the less time you will have to create your works.)

Personal opinion: It's really really worth to read! The overall story is great 💖 The plot is not too fast or too slow, and the whole thing makes sense. I think PingXie is a type of ship where everything needs to be taken slowly, it's easy to become greasy if you don't write it carefully... and the writer really did a good job, even Xiaoge's smut part doesn't feel out of place. The double perspective is also impressive, I can feel Xiaoge's strong and independent personality here. I mean that he always has his own thought, even in canon, he isn't the type of character who likes to follow along blindly without thinking. He comes to this point because he wants to do so, he always has his own reason to do something. It's just that Wu Xie's perspective make it difficult to know what Xiaoge is thinking. This is one of the best window paper fics I've ever read! (⁠*⁠˘⁠︶⁠˘⁠*⁠)⁠.⁠｡⁠*⁠♡

A little note: Dunlun means s*x between husband and wife, more info here.
