I recently bought an art book on Caspar David Friedrich, whose emotional work stuck with me since I first saw it in a museum years ago. Over the course of a few weeks, I read about his life and at the same time did studies/interpretations of many pieces. It was a really enjoyable and fulfilling project; here's a good lot of them together :)
I was happy to see many people enjoyed Friedrich's work+my interpretations while posting them individually. It took way too long, but I FINALLY set up a print shop for some of these + some other pieces for those who expressed interest. Thank you so much!
Saw a post about whether your favourite character ever committed a crime and uhh... I'm hard pressed to find any among my faves who did not, even if we count off any enemy-mook-killing during the story as self-defence.
Maybe Sam Gamgee? Even Frodo used to steal mushrooms as a child.
Like, a lot of them break the law for moral reasons, like revolution.
A lot of them do fucked up shit that technically doesn't break any laws, either due to clever navigation, or because no one though to outlaw something that's usually impossible.
Roughly one thirds through the Wizard of the Crow and WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, it's perfectly possible to generate conflict between two people without turning either into a raging asshole.
See I didn't even consider whether it'd be in bad form to just use the historical names 😅. So unfortunarely my guess really is just a placeholder until the autor says something definitive.
For Personal Reasons* I'd love to know what the names of the Iron Triangle (this time meaning the Polycule of Rage)** are spelled in Hanzi.
Historical! Wu Zetian I can look up, maybe Li Shimin too, but not Gao Yizhi, and Fandom Wiki isn't helping.
*reasons being Nosy Bitch Syndrome and overenthusiasm over my Chinese Duo course
**Team Grave Robbers is pretty easy to figure out
@sharlothaven Ahh please don't take my word on this as anything definite. I only figured that since Wu Zetian and Li Shimin were both based on real people they might as well write their name the same way. Up and until the author says anything that contradicts this idea of course.
I am also very white and my entire background in Chinese is one (1) semester at Uni and some online courses.

I keep trying to pinpoint what kind of romance I enjoy, because I'm extremely picky and yet have no consistent theme or specific tropes I either always go for or cannot stand at all.
The answer turns out to be very simple and yet depressingly rare.
I don't need 'healty'.
I don't need 'pure'.
I also don't need twisted and tortured.
What I need is to be able to understand what the characters see in each other, and since I'm if not fully then at least functionally aroace, this will have to go beyond 'hot' or 'blood smell gud'.
All characters involved need to be people, and this alone rules out a massive chunk of canon straight romances*. I don't even have to like the characters right out of the gate**, I just need to be entertained while they are on page, and there's nothing more boring than a Designated Love Interest.
*Those tend to be the worst, because at least gay romances can't rely on the automatic assumption that boy+girl+sharing a screen = romance.
**I read and liveblogged Erha. I like that book. I want interesting characters, not Unproblematic ones.
Albino snakes in general are absolutely fine and ethical to breed and buy. In mammals, albinism is associated with a whole host of issues, but the same isn't true for snakes.
The biggest issue you'll find in any snake with a morph that has reduced melanin is that their eyes will be more sensitive. This generally isn't a big deal in the slightest because snakes have lousy vision to begin with, and as long as you avoid shining bright lights into an albino snake's enclosure they will have a 100% normal quality of life.
