Two Shadows (Futatsu no Kage) - Hypmic Rule the Stage Track 1 Ichiro and Kazusato duet translation
yes it's been like four years since track 1 don't @ me about this. i went insane after rewatching it with a friend
unfortunately unavailable for listening but boy they sure gave ichiro a gayass childhood friend duet!!!
Kazu: I figured these days nothing stays the same anymore, but you didn’t change at all. After meeting you again, I feel like a little like my old self.
Ichiro: Hah, what are you talkin about? You haven’t changed a bit either!
Kazu: Icchan…
Ichiro Hey Kazu, so much has happened Before we knew it, this much time passed With each of our feelings going round and round Our voices overlap once again
Kazu Yeah, Icchan, I’m glad we met again Cause I’d always looked up to you You’re shining as brightly now as you did before I miss those days we used to walk together
Ichiro Time and time again, You calmed my raging heart Because of your straightforward kindness I could run straight ahead
Kazu Sometimes I still remember Those streets we would pass Making up for what the other didn’t have We’d support each other, laugh together
Ichiro I want to keep moving forward from now on With you who won’t change when everything else will
Kazu Rather than being alone, it’s better together When we meet again let’s meet with a smile
Ichiro So that I don’t forget, I'll keep it in here [tl note: he means his heart.]
Kazu Locked away, and walk ahead alone
Ichiro This bond
Kazu Our reins
Ichiro, Kazu Connected under the same sky The two shadows burned into my memory Seem like they’re turning into one Even when we’re apart This bond we have doesn’t change
Kazu: It really has been a while, hasn’t it? You haven’t changed at all.
Ichiro: You haven’t either!
Kazu: Ahaha! …Icchan…
Ichiro: Gross, what is it?
Kazu: Ehehe!
Ichiro: Hehe…
Ichiro, Kazu The two shadows burned into my memory Seem like they’re turning into one Even when we’re apart This bond we have doesn’t change
The two shadows burned into my memory Seem like they’re turning into one Even when we’re apart This bond we have doesn’t change

while jjk and naruto both place importance on the youth/"next generation" there is a difference in approach. i think contrasting gojo and kakashi is the best way to explain this, considering they both are, essentially, mouthpieces for their authors as educators.
but first let's dismantle the myth of neutrality in teaching. neutrality often helps the individuals that are in power, because it has a tendency to prop up the values held by the institution in place. it encourages inaction against them, even when they're a violent oppressor. what's more, neutrality suggests that no better option exists.
if you're familiar with naruto, you might remember kakashi not only disuading sasuke from seeking revenge, but also suggesting sasuke serve the very same system that coerced itachi (thirteen-years-old at the time) to slaughter the uchiha at the behest of the state because there was "no other option."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ notably, this is an idea that is only challenged by "villains" in the manga; "villains" overtaken by their emotions that are consequently seen as irrational for seeking retribution. and just like kishimoto, kakashi faithfully upholds this idea throughout the manga. "moving on" and stopping the cycle of hatred is, at the end, left entirely up to the victims. konoha comes first, then family, then friends, and so on. in other words, in the world of naruto, there is a hierarchy of importance centered around keeping the status quo/carrying on the will of fire (what is already in place). and sasuke is made to conform to it in kishimoto's conclusion of the series, confirming kakashi's beliefs.
*the next generation are seen as a way to preserve old traditions. the "individual" should fade. victims should forgive.
gojo, in contrast, seeks to dismantle the very system that props him up, that has grown corrupt through the years.
Tumblr media
and so he takes a radical approach to education by working against the established norms in their world. he uses his influence as the head of one of the big three sorcerer families to shield those who are most vulnerable— megumi, yuta, itadori, maki, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he also encourages them to grow into a mindset that motivates them to stand up against the very forces that push them down. paraphrasing gojo's words, his role as a teacher is similar to a gardener's. his duty is to tend to his students, to help them bloom into who they're meant to be and help them move forward with courage. to be able to work towards a future that sees beyond the use of a conservative institution that continues to fail so many of them. to define what it means to be a jujutsu sorcerer outside of it.
*the next generation are seen as an opportunity to step towards progress, to step away from old traditions that prevent the "individual" from being seen.

Hello, I hope you're doing well. You're one of my favourite blogs and i hope you never leave tumblr.
Genuine question, what is it about Naruto the series that make people get on so absurd and obnoxious? I'm not even referring to ss or nh fans, in every fandom of Naruto. Naruto fans and Sasuke fans (outside of the sns ship), Itachi fans, Sakura fans, Hinata fans, fans of some problematic ships, sasunaru/narusasu fans. The manga will say something like "The sky is blue". And those fan's logic will interpret is as "The sky is red.... also it's not the sky but the ground." Basically Interpreting the context and text as everything BUT how the author meant it to be understood. How can the text and context of the manga mean anything else then what it's meant to mean?
I know other fandoms can be obnoxious but it doesn't beat the level of absurdity in the Naruto fandom. What is it about Naruto that makes people behave in this way?
I do think there are other series fandoms that reach the level of absurdity that Naruto fandom has. Even snk and jjk fandom has bizarre behaviour. Harassing the staff, harassing other fans, saying the author deserves to die or suffer, stanning the characters in the most obnoxious way possible, having terrible misinterpretations of the source material... they have it all.
Look at Yuji, he's a sweet boy, yet even he has some terrible stans out there. Some shippers who like him as bottom will harass everyone who doesn't agree on twitter and in general hate on other characters, especially Megumi. And it's all just because they relate to Yuji or whatever. So they misinterpret him and act like everything needs to be about him. And some dudebros do the same, just in a different way. They think Megumi should die, some of them think Yuta is a bum who should die and so on. Because everything needs to be about THEIR fave. Some Gojo stans harass people who like Sukuna and attack them if they even dare to write analysis on Sukuna's character. Plenty of snk fans are disgusting too, like the way some people talk about Historia or Mikasa is gross. The way people misinterpret the characters to death is rampant in that fandom as well.
Itachi stans (the specific ones) can be so damn corny I don't even bother talking about them. Like they're the type who would put Senya as bg music on a video with Kafka quotes or some shit and act like they're deep. What's truly bizarre are the Sakura stans and Hinata stans, because neither of those two are impressive or likeable, so it's baffling why they have such a dedicated fanbase. Kishimoto intentionally made them unlikeable. Sakura is supposed to represent a shallow and self centered person who acts like they're a big deal and bites more than they can chew while getting her ass handed out to her constantly. She's supposed to be a laughing stock. Hinata is supposed to be a wallflower who has nothing else in her head except a boy who doesn't pay much attention to her. And yet. Their stans act like these are the most admirable characters in fiction... lol.
Shonen series tend to be "relatable" to a degree so it attracts people who need to make everything about themselves and interpret things to suit their own preferred view. Fans also tend to get angry at the author if the series doesn't follow the typical found family/mc triumphs all the time/other cliche formulas. Because those are what the readers find relatable. They're not that inclined to give chance to a different type of experience. Hence why Kage arc was so hated by many when it came out, and why Pain arc was so loved.

Soooo… ummm…
This is a late topic, but I wanna ask when the jjk fandom calmed down a bit. Anyway… Got any opinions on chapter 208 of jjk? Since… ya know.
That chapter sparked a huge controversy about how female characters are being treated. I mean. There’s also the discussion about how the fight went too.
But yeah. Thoughts and Opinions on chapter 208 and how Gege treats the female cast?
Hello! I actually got several asks about this when the chapter dropped and didn't answer bc I was Going Through It at the time.
My opinion isn't uber positive, obviously, but it is also not that different than it has always been in regards to how Gege writes female characters. I wasn't surprised, and I don't say this in a "told you so" type way--really, and I didn't post earlier because I really, really don't want to come across like I think this. "Disappointed but not surprised" sounds too flippant for what I actually mean, if that makes sense? I don't feel schadenfreude. I just feel sad.
Like with Horikoshi, I don't think Gege has any malice or overt misogyny. I just think that he's a man in a society that privileges men. The reason I think it feels like such a betrayal is because, unlike say Horikoshi or Kishimoto, Gege started writing female characters to be kick-ass. That's the easy way to seem feminist, and I actually think Gege isn't doing it to be a bait-and-switch or a jerk, but because he genuinely wants to write strong female characters.
But due to personal experiences and my own pet peeves, I side-eye badass female characters as written by men. Fair or not, I do--a bias of my own, I suppose. What I mean is that in our world, we sideeye traditionally feminine things--kindness, softness, and in terms of stories, romantic plotlines. We tend to be drawn to praise male characters--who tend to be better written--but the substance of what makes them better written has nothing to do with being able to physically kick ass and laugh while doing it. Yet, that's the easiest trait to replicate among female characters.
Like, James Bond is historically not a fabulously written character just because he kicks ass; I'd say he has the same depth (in earlier films at least) as Twilight's Bella Swan. They both work for the type of stories they are in, however. Yet most people would be more likely to praise James Bond than Bella.
What I look for in terms of a well-written character is if there is an internal world that is rich and compelling, that pulls the story along. Gege has written that for male characters like Gojo, Yuta, Itadori, and Megumi, even for smaller characters like Junpei. Mai and Maki had/have depth, but Nobara has next to none. You can remove her from the plot and basically nothing changes thematically or plot-wise, and that's exactly what happened, so it's not even really debatable. So I started grousing about seeing Nobara held up as an awesome female character just because she kicked ass. I think Nobara has potential, but I think she is, as is, written with the same unexplored potential and shallowness that Haruno Sakura in Naruto is. And I guess what annoys me in particular is that the world, including fandom, inherently sees Nobara as a stronger female character just because her focus is fighting. Love is seen as something that weakens Sakura. And I'm not saying Sakura's better written than people think--she isn't, not really. I'm just saying the way fandoms respond to Nobara vs Sakura (with Sakura held up as the quintessential wasted love interest) belies our own unconscious biases towards denigrating traditionally feminine traits.
So, the particular developments of 208 don't surprise me.
I'm going to post one of the asks about 208 from when it happened that I got below:
Hmm…
Not sure if you have caught up with jjk lately, but mannnn… lately I’ve been pretty disappointed with gege’s writing. Especially toward female characters.
Um… spoilers for jjk 208 I suppose
Like, why gege have to under utilize Yuji like that? Like I suppose it was a battle between ideology with her and Kenjaku, but if that was the case… why her dialogue near the end so focused on Choso and not like… her actual thoughts and ideals.
I dunno man… Yuji was introduced as someone who has her own agenda of changing the jujutsu world, which doesn’t necessarily mean she was on the protagonists’ side. She have so much mysteries and questions she brought up. She’s a Special Geade One Sorcerer!
She was so interesting and I so so invested in where she will take the story, but then… 208 happened.
I mean… I know I should have expected this since what Gege did with Mai and Maki, but I was so hoping that Gege won’t disappoint me again.
Now my expectations for the future of jjk is gonna be pretty low for female characters. Since whenever I see an interesting or nuanced set-up for a female character, it’s bound to become a disappointment in the future…
My only flickering sparks of hope would be Miwa’s future development, and a hopeful possibility of Maki’s arc being salvaged.
I agree that I think Maki has the best chance of having a decent arc, even if it's taken a detour into yikesville. Miwa I hope for as well, but admittedly I'm more invested in Maki.

I just want to talk about enstage ttm
I bought the stream for enstage track to miracle both on the first day and the last day. I can say that it feels so different between these two performances. On the first day, you think that everyone’s portrayed their characters so good but on the last day they even nailed it better. The adlib for the last day was great as well. If you take a look at Kodai-san’s twitter, there will be a photo of Hiyori with Tsumugi, Mao, and Jun-kun. That’s his adlib. wwwwww
((WE DO HAVE BLODDY-MARY))
Set list for EdenP
- Trap for you (GAY) I mean, GAAaaaaaaY >>>> I really like this performance. I got too excited on the first day but my heart still races even though I watch it again at the last performance. Kodai-san wink a lot on the first day but he didn’t do that much later date. And I can say that Yuuta-san is JUN-kun. Not only his singing, his way of looking at others, his voice, but also his muscle— (important) It threw you back at the ss4 performance. At that time, people said thats gay but it can even be gayer with enstage. Believe me *blessed*
- Sunlit smile (ft. Trickstar at the background) They were dancing together but Eve takes most of the spotlight.
- Solo Nagisa (this is so damn good you can’t deny me ‘cus I won’t listen) ft. Isara Mao who has been swayed by Kakka’s performance. I think I need to mention that it does have Mao’s solo for a little bit before Nagisa shows his power. Riki-kun is soooo cute~
- The beast of the end (POWERFUL) I got nothing to say about this but it gave you a lot of impact.. qwq
WE HAVE OLD FINE TOO
On the first day, Kodai-san CRIED at the end of the song!!! He sobs and we all felt that pain (´;ω;`) The last day wasn’t as impact as the first day but Gakkun was trembling so hard that Kodai-san seems (to be) normal that moment wwwww
The stage is beautiful. Old fine is gorgeous for both choreography and a little bit of actors’ movements. Hiyori complaint about Eichi then walked out of the stage, following by Nagisa. Tsumu tried to reach for Eichi but he left instead. Eichi just smile alone on the stage and then the dark falls.
There were a lot of things I could spend hour and hour to talk. There’s still time to buy a delayed live until 18 March 2022. Please take a look at it if you could because it’s amazing. Everything is so beautiful that you can’t take your eyes off.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
