This took me a while but i finally got to draw Tea Gardner / Anzu Mazaki from the original series of Yu-Gi-Oh! Writers should have done more with her! She has a ton of outfits i wanted to draw but i chose these 3 for now lol.

What ships do you have for Yu-Gi-Oh! male leads and the Yu-Gi-Oh! series you have seen?

For most of the main characters, I don't really have any ships! Not opposed to an idea of any of them in relationships, but one of the reasons I got into yugioh was the lack of romantic subplots. This being said, I am an utter fiend for starshipping (Jaden x Yusei)

They're two of the most ace aro idiots of all time how are they dating no one knows it doesn't even look like a relationship to most people, but they know each others demons they are foils they are soulmates.... I will yell about this to my dying day. I have an entire aspec romance novel sitting uncompleted in my drafts about this. They just get eachother despite being completely different breeds of people.

Also Jesse having a crush on Jaden and having to get over it and settle into this completely anormative chaos relationship where they're soulmates who aren't dating but are each others' Most Important Person.... Yubel accepting and loving Jaden just the way they are now regardless of promises made in the past.... I see a queerplatonic ship and I go "Mh yes delicious."

Queen Manju... sounds a bit like Mademe komakusa / Komakusa-dayuu, doesn't it?

Obviously she copied the name style as a form of tribute. She's so obviously a massive Sannyo fan.

Manjū is also a tasty snack btw

Speedy redesign of my YuGiOh Zexal oc, Taida!! More info under the cut!!

Taida took an interest in Duel Monsters when he was about 10. He'd witnessed duels by previous champions and wanted to follow in their footsteps. He taught himself how to play and soon enough, became a champion in a huge tournament. He would go on to win the next year, but due to his hypersomnia and clumsiness, dropped out of dueling, as his health and safety was starting to become a risk.

He goes to the same school as Yuma, and while they have positive opinions of each other (and the rest of Yuma's friends), they don't actually know each other very well. Taida sort of acts more like a listener.

Taida isn't the brightest bulb in the box (and common sense isn't always a concept for him), but his advice is well meaning. Sometimes he does say things so profound that makes people sometimes wonder if maybe he's seen and knows more than he lets on (or if he's an ageless being lol)

#yugioh 5ds #this is not a jab at yugioh btw #it's a jab at people who think yugioh is silly #like you're entitled to your opinions and not everyone has to like everything but if youve never watched it #then you're missing what its fans actually love about it #yeah sometimes it IS silly #like the time judai/jaden duels a freaking monkey in gx #but then you have stuff like *z-one*#and maybe this line is only potent in context but idc #i watch the end of that duel and this is the line that sticks in my head from it #because the whole time youre fed this idea from him that hope is pointless that he *tried* that and it didn't work so he gave up on hope #but no he actually *didn't*#he never actually gave up hope the real problem is that he ran out of *time*#so he came back to *change that* to give everyone else the time that he didn't have #(i mean his methods were terrible but that's not the point)#(i could write a whole frickin essay on z-one okay he intrigues me as a character)#anyway all that to say that yeah sometimes it IS a silly card game anime but sometimes it tells really great stories too

mini line up of some Dessa fits <3 some explanations/elaborations on each under the cut mwah.

Fresh outta spirit world: Born and raised in the spirit world of the plant spirits, specifically the sylvan realm she’s got a couple of outfits fit for the area. This is the outfit she wears when she first arrives in the human world.

Melffy Missy disguise: After arriving she gets into a series of unfortunate events that lead to her being chased until she finds a way into what turns out to be an old storage unit. Here she finds the Melffy Missy costume, a retired original mascot for a plushy company that focuses on duel monster plushies hence they referenced the Melffy archetype as a staple for their predominately cute line up. When she wears the costume she carries with her a mini chalkboard and doodles/writes to communicate since it’s impossible to talk with the big head.

Duel academy card shop: She first meets Mrs. Dorothy in her disguise and they connect while Dessa helps her out with some errands Dorothy came to Domino city for. Dorothy becomes a close aunt like figure for her and eventually takes her with her to the academy to take her under her wing. Without her Dessa would have had many misfortunes due to a lack of communication and cultural understanding of the world. For a long time though she only works in storage since the first being chased incident has left her a bit reluctant to show her face and prefers wearing the melffy missy disguise when interacting with other people since she feels the reaction from other people is more favourable.

Duel Monsters spirit day: Her costume for the samhain/halloween equivalent of yugioh! :D I wanted to refrain from a plant type since I also like other types but I suck at playing them, I’m a one trick pony and so is Dessa, that’s why she gets a little treat. The costume is of ‘’Spirit of the fall wind’’ a stand alone fairy type. Dessa saw the card once and found the artwork very charming. Dorothy teaches Dessa sewing which she’s really come to enjoy and both thought it would be a really easy beginner project to make herself due to the simplistic design! And she really wanted to try making it herself <3

Slifer Uniform: Due to her condition Dessa has to either regularly duel or make time for rituals and seek out secret spots to otherwise release her spiritual energy unnoticed. She starts out working in the card game shop under miss dorothy and eventually occasionally comes out of storage and works IN the shop, but since Dorothy herself has no idea how duelling works aside from putting cards on a surface and thus has nothing to teach Dessa in that department, she does at one point, makes the change to attend duel academy officially as a duellist so she actually knows what she’s doing and can more effectively utilise her deck to help her ailment.
