I should've uploaded this punk forever ago but um... I forgot... Like I do most of my other YGO pieces. (Have I mentioned have a HUGE backlog of stuff?)
So, making up for lost time. Everyone, meet the Our Game Now version of The Thief King. Though unlike the original series, his name is Yamir instead of Bakura. Something to set him apart from Ryou. I actually drew this when I working on the Poster for Our Game Now. Sure we don't see much of him on said poster but I had to be sure what he looked like all the way down to his feet. I wanted to keep the spirit the original but combined elements with a Duel Monster card known as GraveKeeper's Heretic. Bottom line I wanted Yamir to have more grandiose to him like I did for Atem. Very pleased with the results.
And that will do it for now. I really need to do a full render of him later. And I need to draw Ryou too... Welp, future stuff to work on!
After all was said and done, Mahad took Seto to the school's infirmary, Yugi, following right behind him, a thousand questions floating around his head.
Namely about what his teacher had just done. He kept looking the man over, wondering where that power had come from.
Did Yami and I do that? Did he do that? And Seto… I hope he's gonna be okay.
"There we are…" Mahad set him down on one of the beds, bringing the blanket over him. "He'll wake up in a few hours. I'll call his father after our little chat."
Yugi looked around, taking note how… empty the place was.
"You sure this is a safe place to talk?"
Mahad chuckled, making his way to the door, closing it.
"It's as good of a place as any. I don't think this kind of talk would be easy to have at home either."
Yugi nodded, taking a seat in one of the chairs, fiddling with the puzzle as he did so.
Mahad took a seat across from him, folding one leg over the other.
The scene was powerful in the book, but there was just something about watching reaper collect the bodies of the dead tributes in the arena. The way he removes the weapons from their hands, lays them out nicely, giving them the smallest bit of dignity in death. The contrast to the capitol gasping in shock as he pulls down the flag, not in rebellion, but in mourning. The way mourning in the hunger games IS an act of rebellion. “How are you going to punish me now?” The feed then immediately cutting to the news of the death of one capitol boy, whose death will be avenged upon those who had nothing to do with it. Only certain deaths are allowed to mean anything. God. Suzanne Collins knows what she’s doing.
Well folks, there's someone I'd like you to meet. This is Frederick in Step 2. He is Tamarack's daddy. But don't call him Mr. Baumann, that's his father. You can call him Dr. Baumann. He is not a medical doctor, he has a PhD in physical science.
So, is he a great guy with extremely good reasons for why he's not raising his own daughter? No, not really. At least he exists and you see his face at some point, I guess. Sorry Tamarack.

Seto's eyes opened slowly, his vision blurry at first before it cleared. He was in his room now, his brothers beside him along with his parents.
Mokuba smiled, relief in his eyes.
"You're finally up."
Seto looked at him with confusion.
"How long was I out for?"
"Six hours.." Pegasus sighed. "Thank goodness…"
W-What!? Six hours!?
He moved to get up, grimacing as his head swam.
"Seto, Seto, easy…" Mokuba placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't move so fast. Your teacher said you collapsed at school…"
Collapsed… That's…
He winced, his mind racing with images of him going toe to toe with Yugi in dueling… No… it wasn't Yugi. Not with the way he acted. It was like he was someone else.
And that monster that was in my head…
"I did…?"
"Yes. We came to get you as soon as your teacher called." Pegasus frowned. "You really had us worried, Seto Boy."
Seto frowned, lowering his head.
"I'm sorry… I didn't mean to inconvenience-"
"No."
"Huh?"
Pegasus tilted his chin up.
"You did not, in any way, inconvenience or burden us at all. You are my son, there's nothing you can do that would make me consider you anything less."
This is absolutely my favorite sequence of "Fun and Games," other than the love confession.
They are going through some serious relationship shit, but the second Annie and Mary start bickering, they're just right in sync.
They critique Mary's destruction of the clock as "unhealthy" - never mind that Ed utterly destroyed Stede's ship and almost killed himself and everyone on it. The clock is just a step too far.
And finally:
Adult? What the fuck're you talking about?
Really? I mean, she stabbed you, you poisoned her, and then she jumped on my face!
(Props to Stede "Gayer than Liberace" Bonnet for describing a woman kissing him as "jumped on my face.")
This is the moment when I went "they're going to be fine." Because they do see how silly it all is. They are a united front. They are looking at a couple possibly more dysfunctional than they are, they see the childishness of it, and they are bitchy about it. Together. As a couple.
And now this is Dr. Nichole Baumann in Step 2! Tamarack's mother 🥺
She is equally to blame for the difficult family dynamic going on with Tamarack. But things are made even worse by Tamarack's grandparents preferring to blame Nichole alone and never their own son, Fred. It's not a great time for anyone, ahah.
