Oh man like I mentioned I have major brainrot for your au and a billion scenarios have been running through my head constantly.
I have no idea what the plan is for the second half of season three and I'm so excited to see what you come up with but my angst riddled brain just is going wild so scenario be upon thee
Upon the DM cast entering the Dark Dimension, Yubel realizes they have to do something to wear them down cause there's no way they can handle all then at once.
We know that Yubel can make copies of people, we see a copy of Jesse in the dark world that Yubel has killed in order to torment Jaden, and that's exactly what they would do to the DM cast. Make a copy of Jaden and shatter it in front of them.
Atem would be able to tell it's not actually Jaden due to his connections with spirits and the shadow releam but that wouldn't make it any less disturbing to have watched. I imagine Yugi would still freak and Seto would be down right murderous.
Ahhh I'm always nervous to share angst cause I know not everyone likes it so Imma stop myself from delving furth into that one but I can't stop thinking about these dark world scenarios things ever since I asked about the school being gone 😭🤣

I’m a big Zelda nerd and this is basically part of the plot of the new Zelda game TOTK. Where the chase after what they think is the Princess but it turns out the be an illusion by the enemy. Oh I love this a lot.
Yes Atem would know the difference but the others wouldn’t. Not until he says something. And if they are all separated when this first happens…. Oh this could be so good
Because Yugi would be devastated at having to watch even an illusion of Jaden die.
Seto would be murderous, after he knows it’s a fake. But if he saw it and thought it was real I think it could break him.
Joey would absolutely fly into a rage.
Téa would be sobbing
Tristian is forgoing dueling and just physically beating whoever killed fake Jaden
And Atem might know it’s a fake but the moment fake Jaden dies his heart stops because what if he’s wrong? What if that was Jaden?
And it works very well with my first two ideas for what to do in the dark world arc which you can find over here.
Oh I will be thinking about this. This could very well become cannon but I make no promises.

I think if Atem got his own separate body there'd be so many moments of their friends calling him and Yugi by the wrong name or going "Hey can I talk to your other half real quick?" and they're both like. We are sitting right next to eachother. Like I think their friends would just forget that they have separate bodies now and still treat them as a singular unit for a while because it's so deeply ingrained in them to do so
And, sure, you could take this into the identity crisis range if you want but I think Atem in particular would find it so funny. Kaiba tries challenging him to a duel and he's like "Sorry I'm Yugi :/ You're looking for the other one" and then just leaves. Honda asks Yugi if he can talk to Atem real quick and Yugi is like "yeah one sec" then just sits in place for a couple seconds before going "he's out right now try again later" and it takes a full five minutes for Honda to Realise

The fairies that exist in my Fairy YGO AU
Yugi is a normal fairy whose best friends with the fairy king Atem; he's very curious and wants to know about humans and human world. One day he meets a human girl named Anzu who he accidentally shrinks down to fairy size and then shrinks her even smaller when trying to change her back. He seems to be okay with her being that size but Anzu doesn't so now he's on a quest to help put her back to her normal height.
Mana is an apprentice sorceress studying under Mahad the high fairy Magician. When Yugi brings Anzu to her she's very excited to meet a real human even at such a small size, she hopes to study her but tells Yugi she can't undo his spell since it may shrink her even more! They must wait for the Mahad to return form his trip with the King. In the meantime Anzu needs to get used to her new size.
King Atem the current ruler of the forest and closest friend to Yugi, he tries his best to be a wise ruler and hopes to keep peace in the forest. Despite the need to keep away form humans Atem is more willing to establish trust with them and hopes with Anzu's help they can. But he still faces opposition from his court who don't want any form of change, so he needs to do his best to prove to them humans can be trusted.
Mahad is Atem's right hand and the highest sorcerer in his court, blessed with powerful magic Mahad made it his sworn duty to protect Atem and their home in the forest. While out scouting a lead about humans at the edge of the forest, he and Atem were attacked by Bakura. Luckily Mahad managed to stop him form harming Atem but this put him on high alert, and now with a shrunken human to worry about things have gotten more stressful for him.
Bakura is from a hidden fae village that no longer exists, he is the soul survivor of a forest fire that wiped them all out. He knows the reason his village was destroyed was to distract humans form finding the main fairy kingdom, so he blames the current king for this. With his familiar Diabound by his side he launches an attack on the fairy kingdom, planing to kill the current king and find the heart of the forest so he can gain the power needed to wipe out all humans.
He discovers Anzu and decides to use her to manipulate Yugi into giving up the location of the heart of the forest. He can change sizes as well but with the power of the artifact he'll get even bigger and more powerful.
Anzu a new intern at Kaiba Corp sent out to find a rare flower that can act as a cure for many illnesses (or so they tell her), she finds herself shrunken down to the size of a fairy after meeting Yugi. At first she's upset about her new size and the fact she's gonna miss out and a big promotion but once she starts to emerge herself in the world of the forest she starts to have second thoughts about her role in KC. Yugi shares the location of the Heart of the Forest and even shows it to her, but now she has to decide to either keep this secret or tell her superiors who will no doubt descend upon the forest and destroy it in order to obtain the artifact.

When it's time to go to the Dark World to rescue Jesse, do any of the DM crew join the GX kids or no?
This is my Great War. Every day I think about this idea.
Because there are three options here.
1) They stay behind
The portal closes before they can get there. And they are forced to wait.
Now as I wrote here Seto does still have the dimension pod that he used to go to the afterlife and duel Atem. However they were using them to try and track down Jesse. If they get left behind they won’t stay there for long. But I don’t know if they would try and lock on to Jaden or Jesse.
If they decide to go after Jesse they are going to run into possessed Jesse. Leading to a duel with Yubel. I don’t think Yubel would win but I also don’t think they’d lose. I think they’d find a way to end the duel in a draw through outside forces. And then send anything they could to keep the DM crew occupied.
Or
They track Jaden which has the same outcome as option two
2) They get there just as the portal opens and get sucked in
Now much like Zane, Aster, and Crowler they end up some place different then the Gx kids.
They don’t catch up to Jaden until he’s already the Supreme King. And oh we have so many options from here
This is Jaden and arguably his most powerful. He has super poly and is not holding back. He doesn’t care about anyone or anything right now and that makes him dangerous.
Add into this that the DM crew as are looking at their son/nephew who they raised as a little family unit. He’s lost to them right now and they are trying everything to snap him out of it.
How many DM characters do you think the Supreme King can beat?
Note they might be ‘going all out’ but they would never risk killing Jaden. Joey is definitely fueling the same way he did against Mai in the Oricalcos arc. Focused more on snapping Jaden out of it than wining. But as we know from Axel winning is the only way to defeat the Supreme King.
Yugi is absolutely trying to make the appeal to his son. “This isn’t you. I love you. Come back to me.” We could make this so heart wrenching.
Note they would probably met up with Axel right after Jim was lost. Axel tells them the horrible truth. This is because I still want to give the final duel against the Supreme King to Axel as it is a great moment for his character.
Plus after it’s all over Jaden has to live with not only ‘killing’ his friends (again not your fault) but also hurting and maybe killing some of his family.
3) They join the Gx crew for the whole journey.
Jaden still tries to rush ahead but the DM crew are not only experienced Jaden wranglers but also experience desperate protagonist wranglers. It’s your time to shine Aunt Téa and Dad Yugi.
They are able to keep a better eye on the kids so they don’t get captured. Meaning there has to be another way to sacrifice people.
We have some options
A) the Gx crew still gets put under the spell
they start talking crap about Jaden which greatly disturbs the DM crew for a lot of reasons.
Then they reach Brron the man traps separates the two groups all the Gx crew into duels (like a five on 1 tag duel?) but they all lose except Jaden because of their sadness/rage.
Leaving Jaden friendless and feeling like he couldn’t protect them. 
Jaden feels like a failure and maybe he gets tricked into thinking his family is dead and that’s what makes him fall.
B) it’s the DM crew Brron targets for his spell. They don’t have the negative feelings towards Jaden but each other.
Hear me out.
The whole situation has been stressful and a lot of them (Joey and Tristian) are upset with Seto’s school that keeps putting Jaden and friends in danger.
Téa and Yugi as super sad about Jaden’s lose of normalcy and also the way some of his friends behave.
Seto’s pride is as large as ever.
It’s not that they don’t love each other, they do but it’s stress and the situation and complex feelings. They’re not blaming each other but the situation and the spell brings out those negative emotions.
This ends with them getting sacrificed
Jaden has to watch as he loses his family and he loses it.
This also allows the Gx crew to be more active in the plot and maybe have some bonding with the remaining DM crew as only four are sacrificed.
Again this is my Great War. I have no idea which idea to go with.

This is such a weird thought but like. Do you think the body sharing means they also share body temp or does it reset itself whenever they switch? Like, if Yugi starts feeling really cold and he switches with Atem to escape it, does Atem feel the same level of cold as Yugi did when he switched or does he reset to being whatever their usual body temp is? Does Atem have a different body temp to Yugi or is it the same? I know their visual differences are just for us, the viewers, but if we assume the visual differences are there for everyone [because it's funnier that way especially when Yugi has no muscle whatsoever and Atem is jacked by comparison] then does this translate to them having other physical oddities?
