When the ‘03 Turtles are in love!

🐢💙❤️2003 TMNT x Reader💜🧡🐢

Word Count: 889

CW: Gender-neutral reader as always, referred to as ‘you’, my underrated beloveds ong, (especially Donnie 💜), nothing but fluff! Turtles realizing they’re in love with you and how they act around you!! (+ confessions because yes <3)

🐢💙Leonardo💙🐢

💙 With Leo, it takes him a good while to realize he’s in love with you. It just randomly hits him when he’s meditating, the comfort you bring, the way he can lean on you, the way he’s always seemingly drawn to you! It hits him like a bus.

💙 He gets a little shy and distant with you, but don’t give up! Continue coming to him and acting like yourself, he’ll feel a bit guilty for avoiding you, but you still coming to him makes his heart flips and he’s feeling those butterflies.

💙 That’s when Leo can’t take it anymore and finally confides in Master Splinter, (which we both know that man knows when his sons are in love). Splinter is pleasantly surprised! But he’s happy to help his son sort out his feelings and even devise ways to confess to you.

💙 Finally, Leo works up the courage and asks you to go to the training dojo with him alone, to train. You two do train and by the end of it, Leo finally spills it, confessing his love to you, but also expressing his understanding if you didn’t feel the same.

💙 Pleasantly surprised when you admit to feeling the same way! Man is fist-pumping the air mentally when you confess. After that, you two spent more time together in the dojo, just talking things out and making it official with a hug, (a kiss will come later, Leo’s not ready to make that quick of a step!)

🐢❤️Raphael❤️🐢

❤️ With this emotional turtle, Raph is quick to realize, unlike his brothers, and at first; he’s frustrated. He didn’t NEED feelings, especially not towards a family friend, a human… A very beautiful human at that—

❤️ Okay, he gives up and comes to terms with the fact, Raph, the tough guy with anger issues, has soft feelings for YOU. (Bro went through the 5 stages of grief because of this/j)

❤️ And after coming to that conclusion, man is always trying to impress you, he gets closer to you, wants you to depend on him because he wants to be that someone for you! It strokes his ego quite a bit too.

❤️ It’s when he finally realizes he wants to be with you he shoots his shot. What’s the worst they could say? No? So, one night when you join him on patrol and you two are chilling on a roof, he finally confesses. And he’s straight to the point like, “Look uh, this is gonna sound weird, but I have feelings for you.”

❤️ Dude is so hyped when you say you feel the same way too. Raph isn’t the type to wait around either like Leo, on that rooftop was where you two shared (his) your first kiss.

🐢💜Donatello💜🐢

💜 When Donnie realizes, he panics a little actually. YOU are his best friend, and he’s completely shocked when he realizes that his heart thunders in his chest and his palms get sweaty when YOU are around, (*slow fade-in of the demi-romantic flag*).

💜 He tries to shut down these feelings as best as he can by working on his technology more and being distant with everyone, and I mean EVERYONE.

💜 Even then he can’t stay away for too long, he’s back to ranting and rambling about his inventions to you, and his breath hitches whenever you smile at and tell him, “Go on”, whenever he pauses and apologizes for rambling again.

💜 Donnie has to tell you, if he gets rejected now, hopefully these feelings will go away, right? He didn’t even consider the fact that you could possibly like him back, according to his statistics, the likelihood of a mutant and a human together is low!

💜 Well, when he sat you down for a serious conversation, going on to admit his feelings and saying he wouldn’t be hurt if you said no— Wait what? You were quick to interrupt him and tell him you liked him back?? He had to process a moment before he would shyly ask if you wanted to go for a small ride in the Battle Shell around town. (You two held hands while he drove. <3)

🐢🧡Michelangelo🧡🐢

🧡 Woof, Mikey on the other hand is a bit of a wild card, at first he confuses platonic with romance, but when his brothers point out to him the obvious, he’s all for it!

🧡 Mikey is the type to start reading comics and watch movies that involve romance so he has an idea of what to do, (and yes, he kicks his feet all giddy-like when he’s doing this).

🧡 After he’s obtained his knowledge, he’s quick to try and impress you and reenact some moments from the movies he’s watched, always saying quotes you probably wouldn’t understand. And when you don’t get it at first, thinking he’s just being Mikey, he’s a little bummed…

🧡 Then Raph has to point it out to him why his advances aren’t working, because he’s not really acting any different, and just tells Mikey to grow a pair and to tell you honestly. And that’s when Mikey’s new plan is sent into action, operation confession is a go!

🧡 Still a little confusing because he’s still making references but he’s got the spirit. Eventually he ends up forgetting the movie references and out-right tells you. And it’s safe to say, you guys have a roof-top date coming up here soon.

Gaaah, I’ve been obsessing over TMNT good lord. I wanted to write about them, and I’ll probably write more about them too 😭💙 Love turtle pookies ong, hope you enjoyed, and yes I posted the same day, I am motivated to write. ✍️

Just some light Headcanons, I wasn’t planing on doing something for Valentine’s Day but I couldnt help but think about it before bed, this scenario came into my mind and it was so freaking funny I couldn’t help myself

Pov: You get chocolates for Valentine’s Day with the cutest “secret admirer” letter, obviously thinking it’s from your turtle boyfriend, you get extra excited to get home and shower him with kisses for such a thoughtful gesture, unfortunately, those chocolates did not came from him

💚 So. Freaking. Upset. He’s pouting, he can’t look you in the eyes, he’s ashamed he didn’t think of doing that for you, whatever he was planning is officially ruined. he wants to smash that box of chocolate away from you (if we are talking about Raph’s, he probably will) you will have to REALLY shower him with kisses and reassurance, like seriously, he will try to hide it, but you know him: he is this 🤏 close of crying out of frustration

How easily do the 2003 tmnt get startled?

Leo:

Nerves of steel

Simply built different

Very rarely does he get startled and when he does no one can even tell because it's so blink and you'll miss it

He will just dart his head over or flinch very slightly if he isn't expecting it

He fully knows that he doesn't startle easily and yes he is smug about it. He won't say anything but you just know he thinks he looks cool

Raph:

Oh he startles easily

Quick to recover but Raph will jump and immediately go into a defensive stance

Occasionally he will let out a scream if it really gets him

Sometimes when he gets startled he'll grab the nearest person and pull them towards him as a protective instinct, like he's gonna grab them and make a run for it

He gets startled easily by bugs too if he's chilling and he sees a spider out of the corner of his eye he will immediately jump, grab a make-shift weapon and absolutely OBLITERATE it then sit back down and act like nothing happened

If you startle Raph he will take it personally

Donnie:

He doesn't get startled easily but once you get him you get him

Full on hand clutched to the heart

And he doesn't scream he just lets out an alarming gasp

And it's never anything actually startling. Something jumping out at him in an abandoned building? No reaction. Leo entering the kitchen a little too quietly? Instant cardiac arrest

He only really gets startled when he's really focused on something and something pulls him out of that focus abruptly

Mikey:

Not only does he startle easily but his reaction is so loud that he startles other people

Very vocal

He will cling to the nearest being and use them as a meat shield

He's fun to watch horror movies with because he jumps at every single jump-scare without fail

Sometimes he does it just for the drama. He'll scream at nothing and someone will be like "did that actually startle you?" and he'll be like "no."

Okay. This is it. Theory time.

I'm going to write an essay on "how I love elaborate lore in Mystic Hands by @characcoon " It may or may not be a complete circus, but at least you'll have fun watching me getting it wrong eh?

Okay, first of all, let me put on my clown suit for this performance. Because, I'll be honest, I can only understand 70% of a complex text if I don't use a translator. And the translator also tends to change the meaning of the text.

I'm also writing this essay through a translator and just hoping for the best, so...ahahaha...yeah.

Chapters nine and ten of Mystic Hands gave me something to think about. Mostly because, all of a sudden, Bishop and his lab-military squad turned out to be more than background characters. And let me tell you, I grew up on the 2003 series. I may not remember all the nuances of the plot there very well, but I remember the asshole named Bishop perfectly~ But I'm not sure how similar 2003 Bishop and MH Bishop are, so I'm just...anxious in advance and start looking for things that would ring a bell.

From what I learned in chapters 9 and 10:

Bishop is an asshole.

He has his precious organization.

He also has access to empyrium and a recipe for crafting an incredibly toxic herbicide.

He also has a mustache. ( funny how this part puzzles me the most)

Michelangelo talks about him as a cruel and despicable scumbag who should have been rolled in asphalt at the first opportunity. He also calls Bishop a liar, so I guess in the future Bishop and the turtles have a... "adventure" haha... And of course we all know how fun stories with a cruel scientist and mutants can be. Yep.

This is where I start trying to put the puzzle together.

When Michelangelo sees the glowing blue stuff in the vials he reacts rather emotionally and says it could be a version of a anti-mutagen. He also says that it might help bring Raph back to normal when he asks Donnie to analyze the thing.

Donnie does the analysis.

The so-called "anti-mutagen" turns out to be an herbicide. Yes, very toxic and suspect and containing empyrium, but only herbicide.

In this moment. ONLY at that moment does Michelangelo realize that his information about the substance and its capabilities was wrong. And for SOME reason, it makes him absolutely furious.

And this is where the shit hits the fan.

Everything written above leads me to believe that the Turtles have already dealt with Bishop and his "anti-mutagen" in a bad timeline of the future. Whatever happened, Michelangelo came out of that adventure with the certainty that the blue stuff was a anti-mutagen. Which in itself is not suspicious, because even with his constant sleepovers in Donnie's lab, Michelangelo is still not that advanced a science dude. If he was young enough, Bishop could pour Sprite into a test tube, call it a anti-mutagen, and Michelangelo would buy it.

What a good thing they had Donnie for situations like that, I thought. And then I thought again. A little more anxious.

Did they?

Obviously, if Donnie had participated in the "adventure" with Bishop, he would not have allowed the turtles to call the strange liquid a retromutagen without analyzing it at least ten different ways. Even if Bishop hadn't given him a free sample, Donnie would have found a way to extract as much information as possible. Michelangelo was his lab partner. There was no way he would have missed something that important.

So...I guess at that point in the future, Donny wasn't there. Which leaves me with two possibilities. Either he was dead, or...he was taken out of the game for some reason.

The death option looks pretty straightforward. Donnie wasn't there to take control of the situation, so Bishop could probably afford a lot of free lying.

But I tend to think more about the second option.

Because Michelangelo, after getting into the past, intends to keep Donnie away from Bishop. This cannot be dictated by logic. Donnie, of all turtles, would be best able to consider if Bishop tries to pull something sneaky. Donnie has his technique, his knowledge, and his ability to hack any computer with just a dessert fork and rage. And yet Michelangelo takes Donnie with him into the tunnels. Because I'm sure he's guided not by logic but by fear.

Which leads me to the second option.

Donnie was not there at the time of the "adventure". Maybe physically he was alive, but he wasn't there at that moment of the future. Because Bishop did something to him.

That's why Donnie couldn't discover the lie about the anti-mutagen. And that's why Michelangelo wants to keep his younger version away from Bishop.

Now. This is where my knowledge of the 2003 series comes into the chat. More specifically, about one of my favorite stories from there - season 4 episodes 24 and 25 - "Good Genes."

( These are the episodes in which Donnie mutates, turning into a monster because he was previously stung by one of Bishop's mutants. Donnie's brothers spend a very "fun" amount of time trying to figure out how to cure him, but none of them are smart enough. So they are forced to make a deal with Bishop to reverse Donnie's mutation. Bishop was nice enough to actually do it and at the end of the story Donnie is fine again)

What if. Listen. WHAT IF something like this happened in a bad timeline.

Maybe Donnie was infected by Krang. Maybe he mutated for some other reason. Something happened to him. Something that caused the rest of the turtles to go to Bishop for help, because Donnie was usually the one who solved problems like this and Donnie wasn't there at the time.

This is where I pull out the "squeeze apple juice out of oranges" pokemon, because I'm starting to use information that isn't in the fanfic. We have the art, and the post.

And Donnie is not having a good time there. There's also the idea that the anti-mutagen in Mystic Hands doesn't work as neatly and conveniently as it did in 2003 and 2012. It doesn't turn a hypothetical mutant turtle back into a regular turtle.

The art quite clearly complements this thought.

At first I thought - hey, anti-mutagen works differently. I guess it's because it's supposed to reverse a secondary mutation or Crang infection?

Then I thought again. You know, more thoroughly. Bishop was lying.

There was no anti-mutagen, at least not in the sense that the turtles needed it. They only THOUGHT the thing existed because Bishop convinced them it did.

So. What are the chances that Donnie was infected with something the turtles couldn't handle on their own? So they had to enlist the help of Bishop. But unlike the man in 2003 this Bishop didn't do his part honestly and used some version of the toxic herbicide on Donnie?

What are the chances that at first the herbicide actually worked as a cure for Krang, because in this universe Krangs are apparently very evil vegetables? How long did it take for this substance to start killing Donnie himself? Because there's no way I'm going to believe that this caustic stuff is harmless to living creatures of any kind. Was the herbicide slow enough for the turtles to think the "anti-mutagen" was working and happily celebrate Donnie's healing? Maybe it took hours, maybe days, but my guess is that at some point the herbicide destroyed Donatello, giving enough time before that, however, for Michelangelo to remember that "blue stuff = cure for krangification."

That's why Michelangelo was so furious when he found out the blue stuff wasn't a retromutagen. He realized that Bishop had lied to him by calling this toxic crap a healing possibility. He realized that Donnie, his Donnie from the future, was not healed. He realized that Bishop probably didn't even try to heal him, taking advantage of the incompetence of the turtles.

Either that or Bishop in the future just stole Donnie and experimented on him for fun and science or something. And I just wasted a lot of your and my time for nothing~

Everything I've written here could be complete nonsense haha. And I'm not even sure I used half the terms correctly, because translating things from English into my native language and then translating back is tedious. But I hope that at least this post will be fun to reread when the fanfic plot moves on and mysteries are solved lmao

hey so We know leo is a mother hen sometimes so what he do when he is shivering because he is freezing and his so just scoots inbetween his legs with two cups of spicy ginger tea and gives him it and takes away whatever he was previously holding with a grin. They are not going to move for hours. S/o is incredibly hot so it’s tempting. S/o isn’t mother henning him, but he kind of getting a taste of his own medicine while s/o thinks they are funny? “Ah. Is this seat for me? Appears so”.

Can I just say, I feel a sort of kinship with you. We may not favor the same turtle but I feel like we understand each other's infatuation with our respective turtle.

That being said! I hope you enjoy😌

Cold Cuddles

2003 Leo x reader

Leo's a bit chilly since the heating system broke in the dead of winter.

Warnings: none

Fluff, established relationship

We all know this stubborn sucker has a hard time accepting help. Especially before his little journey to the Ancient One.

And well, this is something so small to him.

Is he cold? Yeah. But like, he'll survive. He's been cold before.

At least that's how he's trying to play it off.

When the thermostat broke in the middle of winter at the lair, it wasn't as much of a little problem as Leo told you it was.

You get to the lair and it feels like one of those Costco fridge rooms, but as a freezer.

Mikey had been quarantined to his room because he couldn't stop complaining and Raph was going to hurt him.

Raph went to his room to be alone in his misery.

Donny had been tasked with fixing the heater so he and April were currently topside getting the proper tools.

Which leaves Splinter who was drinking warm tea in his room.

Leo had also retired to his room to meditate.

He had lit a couple of candles and was trying (like a dumb dumb) to meditate the cold away.

Or in his terms, have complete oneness in mind and body.

He doesn't even have any blankets. No one's forcing him to do this either. Bro is just suffering for the sake of it.

He'll insist that he's fine but come on. We both know that's a lie.

Because he won't actually admit that he's cold you'll just have to step in and help him out.

Walking into the lair that day, you had been daydreaming of having bundled up cuddles with your boyfriend to combat the biting winter day. Upon actually entering the lair however, that dream was quickly crushed. The place was absolutely FRIGID. Not to mention entirely empty. Unsettlingly empty.

"Hello?" You barely managed to speak out. You watched as your breath puffed out in front of you. It almost felt like anything above a whisper would shatter the dense silence of the place.

"Oh, y/n." Master Splinter said, finally breaking the illusion of foreboding stillness.

"I wasn't aware you were stopping by today." He said while adjusting the blanket around his shoulders with one hand while keeping his tea kettle stable in the other.

"Uh yeah, sorry bout that, I kinda just dropped in."

"No apologies needed, you are always welcome here. Though now might not be the best time. The heater is broken so this place isn't exactly the most comfortable right now." He told you as you walked with him in the direction of his room.

"Thats why it's so cold in here!" You rubbed your arms while you spoke.

"Yes. Would you like some tea? It'll warm you up."

"Nah that's okay. Do you know where Leo is? I actually came by to hang with him."

"Ah yes of course," Splinter smiled to himself. He was truly happy that at least one of his sons got to experience romantic love.

"He is just in his room, probably battling the cold like the rest of us."

"Gotcha! Thanks!" And with that you were off.

You knocked on Leo's door then opened it. He had expressed the importance of waiting for and answer before coming into the room. You didn't particularly care though. It's not like he ever wore pants, so you not gonna walk in on him changing or anything. Besides, as much as he tells you about it he doesn't really mind. It just seems pointless, to him, to knock if you come in right after.

That being said as you walked in you noticed Leo meditating. He had candles all around him and was visibly shivering, yet he didn't move.

"Dang. If I had known you'd try and romance me with candle light I would have taken out the heater way sooner," you joked. This got Leo's attention.

"That was you!?" he looked at you in slight surprise and slight disappointment.

"No," you snickered. He rolled his eyes.

"What are you doing anyways? Aren't you cold?"

"No not really," he responded and immediately after a strong chill racked his body.

"I'm fine," he looked at you pointedly as a way to convince you of such. You weren't buying it. However you also knew that trying to get him to do things for the sake of his own well being didn't really work. So you were gonna try a different method.

"Well I'm not, so I'm gonna go make us some tea," you decided.

"You don't need to make me any," he told you.

"Then I guess I'm making two mugs of tea for myself," and with that you closed the door to his room and made your way to the kitchen.

On you way there you had run into a shivering Mikey who begged you to make him some coco after he knew what you were doing. You honestly felt bad for the guy. He looked like a wet cat and a kicked puppy had a turtle baby. Though your not sure how much of that was actually him being cold and how much was just typical Mikey theatrics.

When you gave him the coco he took a large swig and called you an angle. You just rolled your eyes and patted his head before grabbing yours and Leo's mug and heading off.

You had picked spicy ginger tea and it was working wonders for you, you were still cold but if felt more manageable as you drank it. You can only imagine what it would do for the guys. Them being reptiles and all. When you finally made it back to Leo's room you had finished about half your mug.

Since you couldn't knock with your hands you just said, 'knock knock' before entering.

"Why do you insist on doing that?" he said with a mixture of confusion and amusement.

"Why do you insist on me not doing that?"

He chuckled at this. Leo had always enjoyed your company. Your silly attitude never failed to make him smile.

He returned to suffering meditating while you set your mug next to his futon mattress. Walking over to him you set his mug down off to the side of him. Then, you reached your arms around his neck and rested your head on his shoulder while you cuddled slightly into his back.

"You need something dear?"

"Not really," you said, mimicking what he told you earlier.

"I am trying to meditate. You know that?" He told you while slightly leaning into your touch.

"Really?," you teased, "is this position not ideal for your spiritual focus?" you purred into his ear jokingly.

He blushed at this, but refused to yield.

"Not really no."

You let him go and pouted. Why's he gotta make it so hard. You had started to get colder so you chugged the rest of your tea before grabbing his mug and making you way in front of him. His eyes were closed as you did such, still shivering.

"Awww, did you save this seat for me?," you put your hand on you chest pretending to be touched, "You shouldn't have."

Before Leo could open his eyes and question you however, you had already made yourself comfortable in his lap.

"y/n?" he looked at you curiously.

"Leonardo." You responded, satisfied with yourself.

"I'm meditating?" he told in a gentle tone.

"I know. That's why I moved, to make it easier!" you told him sweetly while giving him your best innocent eyes you could.

Leo sighed. He really wanted to keep meditating. But at the same time he was way to friggin cold to focus. He thought it would be good endurance training but the only thing he's having to endure now is the desire to cuddle you. You were liked a hearing pad and the tea was radiating warm steam right into his face.

He looked down at you and his resolve completely crumbled. Your big eyes staring at him, mouth in a slight pout, and you hands cradling a cup close to your body. He had been meditating long enough right? Maybe a break was in order....

And with that he scooped you up and set you down on the futon with your mug. When he saw the empty mug next to it he looked at you.

"you actually made yourself two?" he said smiling to himself.

"Maybe. Maybe not," you shrugged, "I haven't drunken from this one yet though, so if someone were to take it from me...."

With that Leo sat down in front of you. He wrapped his hands around your hand that held the cup and the mug itself. As he lifted the mug to his lips your arm moved with it.

"Thank you," he said softly as he finished his sip.

"Don't thank me yet," you responded just as quietly. With that you handed him the mug and left the room. Not without telling him you'd be back though.

You gathered the biggest blankets you could and rushed back to Leo's room. When you got back Leo was sitting on the mattress sipping on his tea, still shivering but his condition had improved.

You took one blanket and wrapped it around both of your guys' shoulders and then grabbed the other and pulled it over your laps. Leo held the mug in one hand while he wrapped the other around you. You placed your legs horizontally over his and cuddled into his side while you rested you head on his collar bone. You pulled the blanket up to you chin and Leo wrapped the other blanket around you both almost entirely.

You closed your eyes and a satisfied sigh left your lips.

Leo finished his tea and leaned over slightly to place it next to your empty mug. Now that he could properly wrap both arms around you he locked you in a firm embrace of blankets. The blankets were soft, and now, warm to the touch. The orange glow of the candles gave the room a sleepy atmosphere. It was so comfortable Leo wondered why he ever wanted to meditate in the cold. He looked down at you and kissed the top of you head. You giggled and he smiled at you.

"I'm so lucky to have you." He sighed and leaned back into the wall.

"Hmmmmm. Yes you are," you lifted you head to look at him, "and I'm so lucky to have you."

With that you kissed him. It was a soft kiss on the lips and it was perfect.

So I guess 'crushed' was the wrong word to describe your cuddling daydream of the day.

Also, I looked up pictures of the guys' rooms and I kid you not Leo legit sleeps on a futon mattress. No pillows, no sheets (as far as I could tell), no blankets, NOTHING. Like all the other guy have got beds of some sort and Leo's just like, "I guess I'll sleep on the floor🤷‍♀️" and everyone was like, "get a bed" and he went "this is bed enough right?". Having a floor bed isn't even a problem it's just the fact that the mattress is literally all he's got. Like dude😩.

Just watched Mutant Mayhem, here are my thoughts!

Overall: Yes, very good I suggest everyone watch it when they can or I will break your knees :)

I’m going to end up rambling far too much unless I split this properly, so I’m going to break it down into sections starting from what I believe is most important in a movie.

This post is still going to be a mess ngl

Story: 8/10

The story is actually very good! It was paced very well and ended in a very touching way. No character interactions or plot beats felt forced or cliché, and no forced identity politics which is always a plus.

The action scenes - of course they were amazing. Paired with the stellar animation, each action scene was brilliantly directed and choreographed. The start shows the turtles’ origin story is similar to most of the iterations with its own unique factors - in this case the ooze was created by Baxter Stockman.

The conflict of the plot was well written, the final act was great and ends with a hopeful and satisfying ending (there is a mid credit scene that teases something big for the series though!).

If it’s any consolation, it’s also very friendly to new fans of TMNT - I went with someone who has not seen any TMNT media before and they really liked it and understood it easily.

Characters: 9/10

Needless to say, all the characters were very well done. Despite its run time and large cast, each one feels grounded with their own unique personality.

For starters: the four main boys! They were done brilliantly - Mikey being hopeful and optimistic whilst naturally being empathetic, Raph channeling chaotic good energy with his iconic rage personality not being over the top, Donnie being a geek in the best way possible, and Leo trying to be a good leader and anxious, always looking out for his brothers but not a complete teachers pet. All very likeable, and I can’t wait to see them in the series!

Splinter: probably the best since 2003! Openly caring of his sons and worries a great deal about how humans will perceive them. Has his own trauma from his experience with humans so he tries to protect his sons by isolating them completely, but eventually realises that his own view of humans should not affect his son’s happiness and lets them fulfil their dream of trying to be accepted by humans even if he will never like humanity himself. Peak character development, 10/10.

Villain/s: all of them felt fleshed out and I look forward to seeing them in the series! Posed their own genuine threats with varying levels of morals. Again, all were fleshed out quite well and played a role in the story.

April: honestly, she didn’t have too much in it compared to the others but does play a key role in the final act and the ending itself. An interesting iteration of April, curious to see more of her.

Animation: 10000000/10

It was brilliant. What else can I say? Though inspired by Spider-verse it is its own style which is amazing to look at. It thrives in action scenes and landscapes. Another groundbreaking style that I hope to see influence others.

Music: 8/10

It slaps. Almost all of them I will be playing for the next week or so. The soundtracks really set the mood beautifully, especially the sombre track. Paired with the animation - ugh - chefs kiss

Overall Rating: 8/10

I am usually very very harsh with films, so for me to rate anything above a seven is basically unheard of. Probably my favourite movie of 2023, and my favourite TMNT movie. 2003 only just beats it overall but that’s mostly because I’ve known it for longer - who knows, a few more rewatches and it might overtake.

There's a part in TMNT 2003 where the turtles get sent off to different dimensions, and Donnie sees all three of his brothers be killed in front of him. When he gets back in The Real World Part 2, he gets excited about seeing Raph and Mikey okay, but doesn't see Leo until later in the episode. When this happens, they just-- THEY JUST CUT OFF THE HUG???? DONNIE WAS GONNA HUG THAT BOY??? LET THEM HUG!!! And this has been bothering me since I was a child so I just drew it. I drew their hug. Yes I gave 2003 tails as they deserve.

The other part that always bothered me was during the episode Sons of the Silent Age when Leo FINALLY opens up to somebody about what's bothering him, and it's April. His whole speech is:

"It's... I just can't stop thinking about the last time we faced off against the Shredder. That the only way that we could have defeated him was by blowing ourselves up. I couldn't protect my brothers. My master. I feel like such a complete failure! And no matter how I try to rationalize it, justify it, it always comes down to the fact that I wasn't good enough!"

He went through a MASSIVE trauma and hasn't spoken a WORD about it to anyone, and he finally opens up to April, anD SHE DOESN'T EVEN GET A CHANCE TO RESPOND TO HIM?? JUST, FISH LADY TIME NOW. So I also drew April giving Leo some advice from Rise Splinter, and some of my own advice that I've learned from dealing with my own failings.

So basically this just turned into "times the turtles deserved a hug and didn't get one".

Aside from the space arc what would you say are the worst episodes of TMNT 2012

Oof, uh, well I think I actually have a few controversial opinions on some of these, but there are definitely a few that really stand out.

Alright top 5 LEAST fav TMNT 2012 episodes:

Mazes & Mutants, I get that it’s just supposed to be silly but I really don’t really think the jokes landed on me or something cause I skip this one every time. It’s just a really weird episode.

Mutant Apocalypse Arc, you all saw this one coming. This episode is angsty in the cringiest way and the plot/backstory doesn’t makes sense if you think about it too long. I might have forgiven this episode/arc if they had done a better job on the character designs, but I think we all know how that went.

The Usagi Arc, yes okay, yes. I will just say it now, I don’t like Usagi. 2003 is the closest I’ve been to actually liking this character but 2012 Usagi is…ugh for some reason I find him extremely annoying and it’s only made worse by the fact that everyone fawns over him. There’s nothing wrong with liking him, but I just don’t. Also the pug kid is some how even MORE obnoxious than Usagi. This was on of the arcs that I was checking how many more episodes I had to watch.

A China Town Ghost Story, basically the same reasoning for Mazes & Mutants. Like, why does this episode even exist?

A Foot Too Big, idk this episode always makes me so uncomfortable. It also always kinda pissed me off that even though they try to make it plot relevant but throwing in the “oh, is Donnie gonna learn his lesson about respecting April?” Like if he had actually learned the lesson I would see the value in this episode, but he doesn’t which makes me wonder why I just suffered through 20 mins of bad fur rendering and psychotic Sasquatch hunters. I know the Donnie x April shippers out there will be giving me crap for this one but i feel like from either side of the shipping war, this episode is completely redundant, you can skip it and nothing happens.

Well anyway, there’s my rants on my top least favorite episodes. I still like 2012, but I usually just try to pretend these episodes don’t exist. I will say this, there are a few more(like maybe 2 or something) that I dislike, but I felt like I didn’t hate them enough to put them on here.

Oh, I just realized

Y’all remember the Triceraton invasion? And how they showed Donnie on TV while he was having the worst time of his life up to that point?

How many people do you think.. recognized a ninja turtle that they’ve seen before?

Like at that point the turtles hadn’t been involved in that much stuff, relatively speaking, but.. still, right? Still, there had to have been a few people who happened to see a screen and on it a familiar and hardly forgettable turtle face, right??

And I think this could lead to some neat interactions between the New Yorkers, like.. before this event it was just like “nobody is gonna believe me if I talk about a fuckin ninja turtle” but now… now it’s like.. less of a random topic to bring up, now it’s not a “in the middle of the night I got saved during a mugging by a giant turtle,” now it’s “hey so did that green guy on tv that the aliens used for ransom look familiar to you?”

And of course, 90% of the time, the response will be “just another alien,” or even “they must’ve confused another race for an Earth human, fuckin idiots lmao” but…

Do you reckon, once in a while, someone’s eyes light up as they hesitantly tell you that yes, they think they might’ve seen that guy before.

“Could’ve sworn his eye mask was red, though.”

“He was wearing swords.”

“Shared leftover pizza with him because he was dumpster diving behind my house.”

“Two of them dragged me out of a burning house. I thought I was hallucinating from the smoke.”

“I think one time I saw one of them roughhousing with a human? I thought at the time that it was maybe.. their little sibling in a superhero costume?”

Because I refuse to believe Donnie’s appearance on live television had zero impact.

Additionally, after a confirmation that you both saw them, that or you’re both going crazy and separately making up imaginary ninja turtles, a second part of the conversation starts:

My story with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

When I graduated from preschool, I was gifted the class pet: a red-eared slider turtle (now almost 20 years old and even has a similar companion). From that moment on, turtles have become part of my identity. If someone asked me about my favorite animal, of course I would say turtles. They are very interesting animals that do interact with each other and with humans; they have an enviable perseverance, enormous curiosity, and ninja-like abilities (they are fast, silent, and enjoy climbing, to throw themselves and performing some really strange acrobatics).

Well, today I'd rather tell you my story with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and how I came to be part of this fandom. It's actually a somewhat long story, but it has some funny details, and it's a way for you to get to know me a little better.

So, since turtles have always been a part of my life, it should have been natural for me to encounter the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from a very young age, so I got to know them through the tmnt 2003 version. And yes, of course, they appeared on television and I was curious about protagonists being turtles... but the series didn't resonate with me.

When you're young, what you need are stories that you can somehow identify with, which is why the best stories will always be the ones that are most diverse in every possible way. And of course, any version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is already a statement towards accepting what's different, promoting diversity. But this wasn't enough for me back then.

I was a girl who wanted to see girly things, shows with interesting female characters. And honestly, from what little I had seen of tmnt 2003 (maybe just a few scenes from an episode), I only spotted male characters except for April, who was an adult (so I preferred to watch Teen Titans). However, I already had my favorite turtle identified: the one with the purple mask, simply because it was my favorite color; funny how that hasn't changed.

When I was almost the age of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the tmnt 2012 series premiered on Nickelodeon. It didn't catch my attention either. However, my sister L, almost three years younger than me, insisted that I watch it. So I did... and I guess I loved it. Because that's how my story with the Ninja Turtles began. That's how I met them.

My sister L and I were always on the lookout for when the series aired on TV; we literally ran to watch it, to make sure we didn't miss anything. And I confirmed that my favorite turtle was Donnie, but I actually loved them all.

A few years later, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie (2014) was released... I couldn't see it in theaters, but I was very excited about it, even though I knew it had nothing to do with the tmnt 2012 version (which I was very hooked on), and that's why I was a little disappointed. Plus, I hated how they sexualized April.

So yeah... you could say I was obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and although I hadn't realized to what extent, my parents and my two sisters did, so my 16th birthday party (just with these people) was themed around it as a surprise. They inflated green balloons, hung them up, and put on masks in the corresponding colors, and we ate pizza. They put a mini 2012 Donatello toy on my cake, which I still have. Now that I think about it, it was an intimate and very nice party... however, I don't like to show my tastes, so at that moment I did feel uncomfortable and dared to express that I would have preferred a normal party, instead of expressing how incredible it was, because it really was incredible. (What can I say? Although I have always been well-behaved and never caused any problems of any kind, I was also a teenager).

At that time, I was still following the tmnt 2012 series, and I used the internet to keep up with each new episode. I reached a point where I became impatient and had to watch the episodes as soon as they premiered, meaning I had to hurry to watch them on YouTube before the videos were taken down, even if that meant watching them in English and in poor quality.

I had a terrible level of English and I hardly understood anything. But doing this greatly improved my level, and I also started to take my English classes at school seriously to understand the episodes. Without exaggeration, everything I know about English is thanks to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Nowadays, I have a very solid intermediate level, and I still continue to improve thanks to them.

Still in that level of obsession with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I obviously searched for more on the internet, on YouTube specifically. In one of those many videos I watched, scenes from the tmnt 2007 version caught my attention. That rivalry, that epic battle between Leo and Raph, captivated me. So I watched that movie, and although I didn't find it good overall for several reasons, I was deeply moved by the story between the brothers.

But let's go back to the tmnt 2012 version. The ending of the third season was one of the most shocking endings I've ever seen. And when the fourth season premiered and the turtles were in space... that's exactly when I lost interest. And I really don't know why, since I really like science fiction and everything related to the universe. Maybe it was because I stopped understanding what was happening (remember I was watching the episodes in English). I don't know.

After that, from time to time, I would feel nostalgic and curious about this series, so I would watch a random episode here and there (in general, I'm not good at watching series; I'm capable of watching only the episodes that catch my attention, sacrificing understanding the overall plot). And when I found out it ended, I looked for the last three episodes of the fifth season... and they left me feeling really bad with that dystopian, hopeless, but realistic ending. It's horrible, but I guess that's what I liked the most. Let's admit it, we all like to be masochists.

Later, I sort of saw that a new version had been released with colors too vibrant for my taste and a 2D animation with too much hyperactivity that didn't catch my attention. Yes, I'm talking about the rottmnt version, released in 2018. Nowadays, you don't know how much I regret not paying attention to it.

Years passed and 2023 arrived. At the beginning of that year, I realized that we had Paramount+, and that meant that the tmnt 2012 series, in Spanish, was complete. And my younger sister R hadn't been able to watch it because she had been too young at the time. So I felt like introducing it to her, and that way I could watch the entire series in the right way.

It was like watching a marathon: we finished it all in less than two months, despite our various commitments (she had school and I had work, making it very difficult to coordinate schedules). Suddenly, my obsession returned, very intense. It was the only time that I've had the same obsession in two very different stages of my life. But I still wasn't open to discovering new versions.

(You're going to laugh at what happened next).

My sister L, the one who initially introduced me to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, seeing how much I enjoyed reconnecting with them, insisted that I watch the movie of the rottmnt version, which was on Netflix; she said it was very intense and good, well worth it, but that I had to watch it with an open mind because it had many radical changes.

Much to my dismay, very resistant and with my mind as closed as possible, I watched this movie. And yes, it was very intense and all, but I concluded that I didn't like it. I didn't feel like those were my turtles. Despite that, I watched it again... and then again and again. It's like the character of Donnie caught my attention a bit. It's like the animation wasn't as bad as I had initially thought. It's like the intensity they conveyed was starting to appeal to me. It's like it was somewhat entertaining. It's like I was starting to like the characters a bit and was beginning to identify and even understand them.

And suddenly, even though I kept insisting to myself that I didn't like this new version, I started watching some random episodes of the series... until I began watching them in order... and then I would rewatch some episodes that I had liked... I mean, it's just that there was no one to stop me and I had to stop fooling myself! The rottmnt version had many different things, but it was very well-crafted and very good. Of course, I loved it! And currently, for me, it undoubtedly surpasses the tmnt 2012 version by many reasons that I won't comment on this text.

When the official content of rottmnt ran out, I needed more. So I searched on the internet... and suddenly I got caught up in some fan-made comics... and then I found myself on Tumblr... and then I started to become interested in more versions and began watching them (like the first season of tmnt 1987, some episodes of tmnt 2003, I watched the tmnt 2007 movie again as well as Batman vs. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I didn't mention, but I had seen before because I had a certain period in my life when I loved Batman).

And all of that was at the beginning of the year 2023, because then the trailer for the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem appeared, which was going to be released in a few months. I had no idea that a new version was coming out that year, and it came just in time to keep increasing my fan skills. Of course, I went to see it in the cinema and loved it, although rottmnt is still my favorite version.

And nowadays, in 2024, I still feel like one of my central thoughts is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I want to keep learning more about them, both the old versions and the new ones that are coming. And I really look forward to continuing to contribute my bit to the fandom with this account. Hopefully, this will also be the year when I can finally watch tmnt 2003 properly.

And it's funny, because suddenly I know many references from many versions and I love that, although I know I have a lot to catch up on. For now, I've never stepped into the realm of comics, and I still don't know if I ever will.

Because I'm just a fan, and those of us who are fans of something should be so on our own terms, without the pressure of anything or anyone.

A little more surprised when you confirm that you’re indeed serious about this. Now has that huge smirk resting on his face and he’s leaning in close, “Well why don’t we go out right now?”

Overall, he took it very well and was very happy with the result. Probably makes out with you at the end of the date too not gonna lie, I mean, he’s been waiting for this long. He’s the second chillest out of the brothers, (Mikey is number one).

💜 You see him visibly relax when you ask him out, like a weight is lifted off his shoulders immediately. He listens to everything before giving an answer. Absolutely says yes and lets you pick out the date you wanna go on. Doesn’t care where you guys go, as long as it’s a fun date for both of you.

💜 By the end of it, you guys are holding hands while watching a movie together to finish the date night off. Actually asks you to spend the night (rather shyly), and you guys cuddle in bed for the rest of the night.

🧡 Mikey’s so chill with it, compared to most of his brother's reactions. Yeah he’s surprised, don’t think he isn’t, I mean when you literally asked, he made the ‘o’ face, before smiling widely. 🧡 Asks it’s a joke first before celebrating and bragging to his brothers and father. Literally everyone will know, and no, telling him ‘no’ is not an option, he has bragging rights now, and he’s gonna abuse the shit out of those bragging rights.

🧡 Probably the most chaotic couple though, you guys can range from very chill to pranking the brothers together within seconds. Everyone’s happy for Mikey, but… They didn’t expect double trouble.

(I only remember bits it cuz I was pretty young when it aired lol, I love how the very beginning shows how they found out a new lair, how they met april, how they barely got any human contact before meeting her, it’s super cool and has some fresh concepts comparing to most canon narratives, if you haven’t watched the 2003 series I highly recommend it)

so based on… absolutely nothing but my own brain, the tmnt turts have at least ONE twin pairing in each version. and yes i know in some cases they’re quadruplets or not even technically related at all but that being said here is my take on which turtles are twins in each version.

so first of all we have the 1987 show, and personally i think raph and leo have the strongest twin vibes

they’re both a pair of goobers idk man. they’re just the Twins

next up we have the 2003 show! i think it’s pretty fandom accepted that donnie and raph are the twin duo in this version

they actually have some really strong moments throughout, have a lot of banter and tend to very subtly side with one another when teasing mikey or leo. it’s very cute and they’re just very much twin coded! brains and brawn duo wins my heart for this round!

then we have the tmnt 2007 movie ! loves of my life, criminally underutilised, i went with mikey and donnie here

they’re the Babies of the family that end up actually pulling most the weight. it’s clear that donnie is the older twin here but they’re over their big brothers bullshit lol - it’s criminal that we never got a second movie to witness more of them

next up is 2012! this is one i hold close to my heart only because ive remained loyal with this headcanon for so long but donnie and raph again, big twin energy

they needed more moments together but they were a solid team. fight in the comments who’s the older twin lol

then we have the bayverse turts. debated long and hard about this one but.. raph and mikey win it out agaisnt the others.

they’re both stupid boys, sharing the same braincell. mikey is the younger twin only because the universe abides by him always being the baby of the family :)

then lastly we have rottmnt. this one speaks for itself obviously. it’s in their namesake

they are the twins of all twins to ever have twinned

TMNT Headcanons: Toxic Traits

Because they're not all rainbows and butterflies bro and IVE BEEN WAITING TO DO THIS WHY AM I SO EXCITED TO BE WRITING TOXIC TRAITS ABOUT THE GUYS LMAO

Also I'm thinking of 2003/2007/bayverse when I'm typing these LMAO

Leonardo

lowkey a control freak

since he's used to being in charge, he tries that in the relationship. Like, if you both want to hang out in the lair or anywhere in the city together, he makes it to where you sort of don't have a say where you go if that makes sense?

Loves his alone time a little too much

Like he won't answer a text or call because he's doing his own thing

This one is justified since he's always doing something with the team, but he sometimes gets so caught up and a whole day will go by without a word from him

Does not sugarcoat SHIT. He forgets to be gentle in times that you may be weak- he's more of a "well, do it then," kind of guy. If you come upset at him because you lost your job or got yelled at at work, expect him to say "then leave, it's not good for you to stay at a job like that." He'll say this, OFTEN. Especially if you come to him with the same issue, OFTEN.

Also that, don't complain about the same shit to him, he's gonna tell you straight up to do something about it instead of constantly complaining about it (IF it's something you can fix, this doesn't apply to really personal sensitive topics you can't control, i mean things you CAN control, like, your friends, job, clothes, etc,)

Raphael

even though raph is like my favorite attractive wise, I'd rather be friends with him LMFAO, why you may ask?

Raph is the PETTY KING.

Will intentionally ignore you if you do something to annoy him

He's so fucking petty bro, it's painful

holds grudges, it goes hand and hand with the pettiness, because in an argument he'll bring up shit that happened like

weeks ago.

I also hc he's an aries, and as an aries, we take everything to heart. We'll take what you say a bunch of different ways

We're also VERY hard headed, and don't care about anyone's opinions but our own, since we're really independent.

So, avoid giving him advice unless he ASKS.

He's independent, so, he likes his space. not that it's a bad thing, but if you're super clingy, yeah, he's gonna break up with you real fast LMAO

Cannot apologize for shit

Like, don't expect him to flat out say he's sorry? maybe a small "my fault," but really, don't expect him to say those two simple words

Donatello

This mf cannot admit when he's wrong. When you're dealing with someone as smart as Donnie, he often thinks that his answers are always right.

He'd rather die than admit he's wrong lowkey, because his genius and IQ is something that's unmatched, and to actually be wrong for once? yeah, no

sometimes you have to step up and check Donnie, because there will literally be times he's wrong and doesn't see it

Donnie hates hates HATES arguing. Any statement you make about him or the relationship that appears argumentative, he'll turn down immediately just to not argue, even if you weren't trying to and it was a harmless statement.

Don't ask this man to repeat anything for you more than once, he will not do it. He just doesn't have the strength to waste his breath when he was loud enough the first time

Michelangelo

Remember when I was talking about clinginess? Mikey is clingy as fuck

It's because he wants to be around you all the time, wants to be with you 24/7, that stuff.

It's sweet at first, but if you don't ask for space, he's seriously going to be following you like a dog everywhere i swear bro

Jealous of you, like the life you have. He wishes he could be human all the time, I don't know, he's jealous of the opportunities you have

Doesn't know when to be serious

Like yes his jokes are funny, but when you come upset seeking for an understanding boyfriend, he tries to make it funny, it comes from a good place, but it doesn't help

Doesn't know when to be serious but then gets pressed when you seek for advice from his brothers? like bro? just try not to make a joke while Y/n's talking about their problems?

Out of all toxic traits, Mikey's pisses me of the most- I'm kind of like Raph, I hate clingy ass people or guys, it kills the mood and makes me not want them anymore it sounds bad but like

A Batman and TMNT crossover! Here's a little snippet of what I've written so far. 2003 Don and Tim Drake centered :)

It starts with Steph laying upside down on the couch, legs kicking in the air, asking him: “Hey, Tim, want to come get piercings with me?”

His first thought is: ‘I don’t have ears.’

His second, when he has a second to chew on that thought and carefully not speak it into being, is: ‘Ah, it’s going to be one of those days.’

In the end, he turns down her offer, but agrees to go with her, for moral support and so that she’ll have an alibi when her mom asks later.

“Hey, Donny, is this for April?” Mikey asks. He’s holding up a bottle of shampoo he’d just liberated from a shopping bag.

He looks at the bottle, and thinks: ‘Yeah, definitely one of those days.’

“Yes.” He lies. “For her and Casey, when they stay over. Just stick it in the shower, if you will.”

“Sure thing!” Mikey sets it down on the counter, and goes back to putting away the rest of the groceries. Donatello stands up from the table to help him, leaving behind his coffee and papers. They would keep, and today isn’t a day he should be getting lost in his own thoughts. Plus, this will let him keep an eye on anything else he’d accidently added to the grocery list.

After they’re done with that, he asks Mikey if he wanted to go take a spin on the Sewer Slider. Mikey will look at him for a moment, smile wide, and agree. Steph will show him all the new earrings she wants to get, he’ll make a mental note of some of them for her birthday, and then he’ll grab a bush and ask her to braid his hair. She’ll agree without hesitation, and then start practicing her fish-tail braid, even though his hair isn’t quite long enough for it.

Steph and Mikey will keep up a steady stream of chatter, occasionally asking him questions to keep him engaged, and he’ll pay special attention. Today is one of those days, where the lines - as thin and invisible as they are - start to blur and disappear. Where Timothy Drake and Donatello Splinterson stop being able to be two separate people. Where his brain starts sending error codes as it desperately tries to understand how it could be in Gotham and New York at the same time. Where it sends itself into a loop, trying to understand how he can only have six fingers when he has ten fingers when he has a shell but he doesn’t when he has hair but he doesn’t-

Today, the line - even though there really isn’t a line, because he is him, both Tim and Don all together at the same time all the time - blurs, and he has to stay firmly rooted in his two bodies. Has to remind his brain that he does have two bodies, and yes, that is normal for him. And the best way to do that, is to stay in the moment, keep focus, and let his brother and best friend remind him. Even if they don’t know what they’re reminding him of.
