I feel like not only should you not be able to get copyright on AI stuff, but also if you lie about it or are otherwise not upfront with the fact it’s AI generated it’s should be considered some manner of fraud and you should get in big trouble for it, ESPECIALLY companies. Not just a fine or some stupid shit, I’m talking serious charges and jail time and shit. Like similar to theft charges for more valuable physical items, or if done on a larger scale then something like grand robbery charges. And I mean it.

One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.

When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.

It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.

To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

hey, a friendly reminder that characters like nick nelson and jesper fahey and norma khan who mention things about their sexuality and correct people to say they don’t like just one gender are a. not annoying but also b. incredibly valid. their sexuality is theirs. the right to use labels is theirs. if you’re chill without a label, that’s cool. maybe you hate labels. but sometimes labels are really fucking important to people. that’s also cool. don’t deny them of their right to say who they are and claim their identity. don’t belittle them for it. consider the fact that it’s theirs and maybe not yours. 

For me the ‘canon homoerotic subtext’ between brick!Valjean and Javert is really more about the parallels between Javert and Eponine, who are explicitly set up as character foils.

Brick!Javert isn’t obsessed with Valjean like he is in adaptations. He’s not psychosexually obsessed with hunting him down; he really doesn’t seem to think of him as being any different than any other criminal—- he doesn’t think about Jean Valjean much at all until after Jean Valjean saves his life.

But after the barricades, Javert’s sudden weird desperate emotions about Jean Valjean are like a twisted mirror of his character foil Eponine’s weird desperate emotions for Marius.

Some guy takes pity on them, and extends them a bit of basic impersonal kindness— and they react by descending into this violently self-destructive suicidal admiration built on self-loathing. They’re both described as making themselves the “dogs” of Marius/Valjean, the dogs of people who barely remember they exist.

And anyway! I think there is potential to explore things there in analysis and fanfiction

actually, one thought real quick: I think it’s so interesting that Mary and Anne were basically literally Calico Jack but doubled, and somehow perhaps even more chaotic…and just like with Jack, the contrast was a catalyst that ultimately brought Stede and Ed closer together as a unit. something about that lifestyle that really makes not only their love but also their compatibility clear, even when Ed is too afraid and vulnerable to admit it.

love how this time around, Ed and Stede left together. Ed knows who he wants to be with now—finally knows he can have real, by-definition friends whose prerogatives aren’t just obliterating armoires and making everyone around them as uncomfortable as humanly possible (and that he can finally close the door on that part of himself too).

ending this thought with “Do you see me now?” vs. “I love everything about you.” because Ed’s also finally learning that at the end of the day, the people he wants to be around the most are those he can be content to just breathe the same air with—and that he is loved unconditionally, this wildfire of a past on full display and Stede’s love still unequivocally remaining.

Fabian and Riz to me are like. They’re like the definition of “a secret third thing” to me but not like in a qpr way. Their thing is just Their Thing, like they’re inseparable they drive each other fucking bonkers they care so deeply and they’re stupid teenagers and I don’t think they would even really think about it at all. I don’t think either of them can imagine a world where they’re not at least around the other, and like whatever their thing is definitely isn’t allo but it’s definitely not regular besties shit. They just like being around each other, I don’t think either of them would really even think to put a name to whatever it is they’ve got going on, and I definitely don’t think either of them would ever put enough thought into it to even figure out what a qpr is, much less label themselves in one.
