I was thinking about this at work and like

The initial Transformers run was fucking hilarious

Like not in the sense it was actually funny because I honestly think The Transformers was shit but it was like indirectly funny

Prowl transforming to try and help Breakdown and immediately gets his ass handed to him

And in there attempts to get him back Ironhide FUCKING DIES

Rodimus is causing issues and when Magnus tries to arrest him he steals his ship, decides to fight the entirety of the decepticons on his own, and accomplishes this by stuffing himself in a weapons safe and blowing up the ship-

But during this Swindle is causing trouble and making a combiner and Optimus decides to finally stop moping and drops out of the sky and crushes Swindle in his alt mode

Spike kills one of the constructions and when Prowl finds out it messes him up so much he basically loses his fucking mind about it later on

WHICH IS MADE MORE FUNNY BECAUSE THEIR RELATIONSHIP FELT SO INCREDIBLY UNDERDEVELOPED IN THE COMIC

Jazz fucking kills a man

Not a another robot

Just some random cop

Cybertron almost explodes

And all in all its just a really fucking weird story line-

Comic List + Thoughts

so basically i'm just gonna compile a list of all the comics i've read and write a little commentary about them - this is mostly for my own benefit because my memory is pitiful so i need physical evidence of what i've read.

Nightwing Vol. 1: Leaping into the Light (2021)

I enjoyed this! I think it was a good beginner point for the most part because i came here with an interest mostly in Nightwing. I liked the art, and while i was a bit confused bc i knew next to nothing about this universe, so therefore did not understand any of the references they made. i still enjoyed it, the writers keep new readers in mind, and don't necessarily regret reading it first.

Robin/Batgirl: Year One (2002)

this one was good too. I got a bit bored at times but it was a good introduction to batgirl/barbara and how she started and got to be involved with the bats. (basically them just following her around while Barbara's like 'leave me alone tf')

Batman: Dark Victory (1999-2000)

also pretty good, I was kinda bored until Dick came in (mostly because he's the character i've really become invested in so far) but i loved seeing the very beginning of his character. sidenote: i love alfred

Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet (1997)

this one was fun to read! I dont have a whole lot of commentary on it but it was more good backstory and seeing dick as robin.

Robin and Batman (2022)

I LOVED the artwork. watercolor is loml. but about the actual story: i also enjoyed it. Baby Dick is unhinged i love it. also it was the beginning of me not really liking batman??? i wasnt really expecting that... WFA led me astray :') and honestly that dislike just carries on the more i read so idk whats going on

Teen Titans: Year One (2008)

MY JAW DROPPED. bro when batman straight up hit Dick i was BAFFLED. like i know he was mind controlled and what not but bro why is batman such an ass to dick??? like even after the mind control is gone like hes still just so?? like shut up and let this 13 year old have fun with his friends wtf. anyways i dont like him, sorry, but if im just reading the ooc comics then lmk but so far im 👎🏼 on batman

Teen Titans (1966)

I only read issues #1 to get the intro, and then #14 because i heard it was dick centered. I wish i liked the older comics more than i do but i'm not mad i read them. I do enjoy the titans storyline and characters though so i will definitely read more to do with them

The New Teen Titans (1980)

I dabbled but i cant tell you which issues i read- again i think i need to get used to reading comics as a whole and come back to the older ones :')

Nightwing: Year One (1996)

so i've almost finished this one! Its #101-106 and i'm on #105 rn. again I DON'T LIKE BATMAN. like he's such a man-child. he literally 'fired' and yelled at this 13 year old kid for helping his friends save people instead of being with him like okay bitch. but anyways i like this! its more good backstory plus him going back to the circus was a nice touch. also the nightwing origin!!! dick going to superman for advice :') I like it.

okay thats all i got so far, I'm excited to keep reading. I have definitely spent too much time worrying about backstory and reading orders ( ik i don't have to bc continuity is relative but my brain just wont let me go out of order) but i've gotten a reading list that i'm pretty comfortable with. Also pretty soon ill be reading more with the batfam (specifically batkids) and im excited for that!! (the batkids are most of the reason im here tbh...especially now bc batman is...not my favorite)

Time for the next entry in my Flash Vol 2 readthrough with Issue 15 - Hitting Bottom

I took a bit of a break after whatever tf was going on with Annual 1, but I know there’s some interesting stories that lie ahead, so let’s get to it and see what Messner-Loebs has in store.

What a bleak beginning. I guess it was foolish of me to think Velocity 9 was going to be dropped as a story element, but I’m glad we’re not just acting like this crazy drug magically went away just bc Savage ran off.

Oh right I forgot about the money situation. But more importantly, his speed powers are all funked up, and that’s gotta be EVERYTHING to him. It makes me think of that panel from his infamous Kid Lantern stint where his powers were stolen and he starts freaking out when he thinks he’s lost his speed forever. ;_; poor guy

Wally’s feeling bummed about everything going on, and rightly so. And he hasn’t been very into Tina for a while, but then here she is just like cheery and cute. If things are ending between them, he really oughta let her know.

Lol he’s face palming in the background. No wonder he wasn’t home very often if this is what it was like heh.

LMAO HE IS GONE.

I’m going to be honest, I could take a little less of Wally’s mom in this story. I know she’s a big part of his life and one of the instigators, but like.. I’m tired.

So Wally’s worried about the rest of the money he owes and he feels like he isn’t qualified to do any job besides what he was doing. He just isn’t thinking creatively enough. Pleeeenty of jobs out there for a cute red head lol. But idk why Tina is relying on him financially bc she’s like a scientist right? She should be making bank.

Oh hey I recognize that silhouette!

Looool okay so Chunk is waiting to see Wally to give him some bunce bc apparently he’s that one that’s really making bank. It was a nice thing to do, but definitely a backhanded compliment type of move. 😂 And Wally’s over here trying to act mature and not butt hurt about it.

At least he met a nice neighbor, even the other neighbor slammed the door on him and his landlord hates him.

Oooh okay so this is the first time we’re seeing Jerry after the treatment. Why does he look like a caveman tho? At least he’s kind of got a purpose now, with the Velocity 9 addicts.

This can’t be good...

Vandal really sent a message, eh? And then Wally crawled back into the shitty apartment building begging for help. He’s a bloody pulp. :( That neighbor from before took him in. I wonder what will happen.

Final thoughts:

THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT ANNUAL. JUST SO, SO MUCH BETTER WTF.

Ahem. Besides that, I really think the parts of this comic that interest me most are where Wally’s character is revealed and there’s some depth there to consider who he is and how his past and his powers and his relationships define him. Seeing him on hard times is like, wow there’s so much to unpack with this guy. And unlike how he’s portrayed in so much other media, his story is just sad. Like it’s just plain miserable for a lot of it.

So I’m actually excited to see where this goes because I have read some issues that will be coming up soon, and I’m just like jeez how do we get from here to there?? But I suppose things could turn on a dime when you’re a superhero right? Wally’s gotta just keep moving.

Adventures of Fuck Face Vol. 1: Sept. 14th 2k17

9:00 - Work starts.

10:30 - FF (Fuck Face) arrives.

10:45 - A client points out that FF failed to meet one of two criteria for a job.

11:00 - FF employs company policy of not placing blame when problems arise. ~~Policy only applies when FF fucks up royally.~~

11:15 - FF left his laptop in the car and made the book keeper stop working so he could use hers

11:25 - FF realizes he didn’t pay the parking meter and has a ticket

Note: No work has been done

11:30 - FF sits down to complete a task we assured a client would be done in a few days. ~~A few days would have been one month ago.~~

Edit: Between 10:45 and 11:15 - FF decides we will be out of dept by the end of the year. ~~Prediction!~~ We will not...

12:15 - FF stopped working on task to answer the phone @11:45. Business call turned into a social call. He has to go to a job site now.

Phone call update: 12:30 - FF just got off the phone.

12:35 - FF lost two clients by not getting back to them for more than a month.

12:40 - FF went down the street to say hi to his buddy.

1:50 - FF came back from his play date then went to lunch.

WTF: HOW TF DO YOU SLURP PIZZA?????????????

2:30 - FF abandoned first task to work on another.

Job site visit update: 2:45 - Still has not gone. ~~Prediction!~~ He will never go.
