And here are some things Wrench actually said to Marcus

Because i can't believe they just sat and wrote it in hellscape that was 2012/2013:

- W: "as much as i enjoy our banter and underlying sexual tension-"

M: "man. I'm hurt. I thought we moved on to overt sexual tension."

Did a prompt on Character AI where Wrench’s daughter time travels to the past to warn Wrench about a future event where Marcus dies in order to prevent it and now I have Wrencus fankids where both of their kids are technically named after them

There’s Ren Holloway, their daughter who was almost named Wrench Jr but Marcus wouldn’t allow it and Wrench didn’t want to name her Regina so they took the Ren from Wrench and named her that

Then they have a son named MJ “ Marcus Jr” which Wrench and Marcus argued about until Marcus pulled a “ Well Ren is technically named after you so I should get one named after me !” so they did a bet, where whoever won got to choose the name and Marcus won. Wrench only calls him MJ though (Marcus Otis Holloway Jr is only saved for when he’s in trouble)

I don’t know if I want them born where Wrench is trans and he was a seahorse dad or if Marcus was the seahorse dad or if Sitara was their surrogate. I’ll spin a wheel on it because both are good.

Please Don’t Pick Up

Making a phone call was a simple and menial task. Something people did frequently, daily, without a second thought. Open the contact. Dial. Wait. Speak.

Easy peasy.

So, why did merely swiping open Marcus’ contact steal every last breath straight from his lungs? Leaving them to constrict and flutter with the desperation to pull in enough oxygen, until he was gasping and choking in air. Why couldn’t he make a simple phone call, like a normal person?

Being confronted with the possibility of hearing Marcus’ voice on the other side of the busted screen was enough to dissolve him into a trembling, hyperventilating heap. The corner of the phone dug into the soft space between his brows, whispering to it in a near silent prayer. Begging himself to calm down. Reminding himself it was Marcus.

Marcus. Beautiful, brilliant Marcus. Endlessly kind. Naïve and hopeful enough that he’d likely welcome Wrench back with open and trusting arms.

And that scared Reggie more than rejection.

Tears burned hot behind his eyes, beginning to streak molten paths down his cheeks.

Fuck. He’d never be able to fix this. Even with Marcus’ acceptance of him stumbling back into his life, he’d never be able to reconcile with himself. Reginald was no stranger to being left in the dirt with no explanation, he knew what that sort of thing could do to a person. He knew he must have hurt Marcus. They hadn’t just grown apart, Wrench had up and left him and then cut him the fuck out.

They couldn’t come back from that. They’d never been just friends, they had been- fuck. Fuck. Nothing. They hadn’t been anything, they’d never had time to be anything, because Wrench went ahead and fell in love. He’d been young and stupid, and moving across the world away from his friends - his family- his life. His everything. That had seemed like a good idea.

Now he was left to face the consequences, seeming so insignificant as just a slab of technology in his palm. But the weight of it was enough to crush him.

Marcus was owed this much. Marcus deserved an apology. Wrench couldn’t be the one deny him that, the meagre offering he had. Just a simple apology, to give Marcus that closure. To acknowledge that he’d done something wrong, that what he did was so far from okay that it was suffocating Reginald with the force of the guilt.

With that in mind he took a steadying breath. His body fell into the wall next to himself, wedging his form into the corner of his room, phone rested on his knees as he hit the button.

Lips pressed in a tight line trembled, threatening to let loose the noises that Wrench was putting every ounce of his being into holding back. Holding his breath. Waiting.

It rang, and rang, and rang.

“Yello?”

Reginald tried not to think about the warm voice that greeted him, lest he break.

“Hey, M.”

You awoke to the sound of drilling and people talking. You groaned as you opened your eyes to the bright sunlight from the windows.

"Good morning Sunshine!" Wrench called out happily from his workspace in the garage. He was holding a hand drill in his hand.

You groggily got up from the couch and stretched. Feeling Wrench's eyes on you, you felt some of your shirt lift from your stomach.

Wrench could feel a small blush tinting his face underneath his mask. "You good Wrench?" Your voice cut through the silence.

"Yeah! Yeah I'm good, don't worry about it!" Wrench quickly replied. You tilted your head to the side not believing his word.

"I was thinking! How about we go get lunch hmm?" Wrench suggested. You thought for a bit. "Yeah sure why not." You smiled.

Wrench got up from his chair and walked over to you. "Do you wanna get changed first and get ready or what?" He asked.

You looked down at your tattered clothes. "Yeah I'll go get changed and ready. I'll be back in about twenty minutes." He nodded and walked back to his work bench.

As you left Marcus walked in. "Hey man! How you doing?" Marcus asked as he approached Wrench. He looked up at his friend.

"Doing good, I actually finally did something." He grinned under his mask as a (^^) appeared on his mask.

"Ooo and what is that must I ask?" Marcus grinned. "I might have asked you know who to go out and hang out together..."

Marcus smirked. "Smooth man, good job" he nudged his friend on the arm with a teasing look. "Stop that man, it's nothing too crazy..."

Marcus laughed aloud. "Nothing too crazy? Wrench, you have been telling me that you've wanted to ask them out for so long? This is mental." Wrench slightly shrugged.

"What if it doesn't go good? Or how I have it planned? What if I embarrass myself?" Wrench felt his friend's hand on his shoulder.

"You'll do great, I'm sure of it." He smiled. "You think you'll ask the big question today?" Wrench shrugged. "If the timing is right...I think." Marcus nodded in approval.

Just as the two of them finished their conversation you walked back inside all freshen up and ready to go out. "I'm ready! Oh hey Marcus!" You waved towards your friend.

"Hey (Name)! How are you?" Marcus asked. "I'm doing good thanks! Wrench you ready to go?" Wrench nodded in response and got up.

Marcus sent him a quick wink. "Good luck dude." He whispered. His friend nodded in response. "See you later Marcus!" You called out. "Bye guys! Enjoy yourselves!" Marcus called out.

As the door closed behind the two Marcus snickered. "But not too much" he laughed to himself. "Why the hell am I laughing at my own joke..." he murmured as he left the garage.

You and Wrench walked side by side. "So where to?" You asked. Wrench shrugged. "I don't mind. You can pick. I've also got another surprise for you later." His face emitting a (- -) face. You laughed.

"Can't wait. Well I'm quite hungry for pasties. Let's go to a café." You suggested. "Where ever you go, I go." Wrench mumbled as he took in your features.

"Hellooo? Earth to Wrenchie?" You waved a hand in front of his mask. "Oh yeah! Sorry. Zoned out. Yeah, let's go to the café!" He nodded.

You grabbed his hand and lead him to a small café nearby not noticing how the man has frozen up, his heart pounding in his chest.

He felt as if he couldn't think straight, your soft hands in his but either way he was too happy by just having you hold his hand and be with him in that moment.

Without anyone's notice, he had the biggest grin on his face.
