Through many AUs I've been through, yours are the one I like the most, because it's a more realistic one.
I can see that the "cruelty" of other Collectors are not like that they are evil.
For a being that is older than universe, they are like the Gardeners of Stars, as a gardener you have to cut it out what is dead, you have to treat the soil, prepare it for a new tree, now with planets it's kind the same, they visit, they watch, and so they decide if some species is worth to keep and if they are not worth for keeping.
And so, this process of leaving a juvenile collector in a planet till the dominant species dies is kinda a hardening process, in order for them to grow mature and to not let feelings intervene in the decision process, like being a doctor, you must put aside the fear of hurting the patient in order to heal the patient.
But in TOH things got different, they found a species that represented danger to themselves, so they used another species to kill the titans and the little collector paid the piper.
Im very glad you enjoy the AU:D
The concept is rooted in the idea that generally, people or characters don't choose evil simply for the sake of being evil. But nobody is omnicent, they react to whats happening, trying to figure out what might be "best" as they go without really a way to know for sure if its a right call. Having power to destroy a planet with swipe of finger rises the stakes for literally everyone. When the Collector was releashed during King's Tide the game changed. If Belos had managed to control them - nobody would have been able to challenge him. Even Odalia tried to suggest totally reshaping the isles. Seeing anyone as mostly/ only dangerous power sources creates power imbalance, something that can evolve into very shaky and actually dangerous relation when the other side realises they were never really considered a equal person and having the ability to revange. There is a lot of implications and possibilities when someone possesses such power with no oversight and unlimited time but also is a person that doesnt want to be alone:D
If involvement with mortals ends in some kind of complications the collectors will be around to see the consequences, even if they don't directly experience them so sort of desensitization toward the very life they are trying to preserve is bound to happen. "They live for so short and can cause so much change in their own system, its best to control the situation" type of mindset. Also thinking of ecosystem like gardens that need work on makes it easier to deal with, especially since with the scale of galaxy they cant just spend unlimited amout of time in one place full of creatures that do not want to be preserved. Their actions come from a place of care but there is inherent cruelty in their concern
Tumblr media
Sooo yeah, its the perspective that might develop in that kind of situation and might end up with leaving one of their own alone for eons. But who knows, this AU is a lot of theories in a trenchcoat and i dont want to defend their actions. Killing all titans? yeah thats bad. It's more about theorizing why anyone would consider that a reasonable option while also not being evil just cuz

this post includes a tutorial for stenciling stuff on a shirt, with paint or bleach, here is the finished result for ppl who aren't interested in the tutorial and still wanna see what i made
against me! on an old sleeveless tee i got from my dad
Tumblr media
alright time for the crafting
first youll wanna draw or print out out your stencil.
i advice printing black on white, black being the stuff youre gonna cut out of the stencil.
also for stencils bigger than A4 (or whatever size ur printer can handle) i advise using blockposters.com to print out the images youre using over multiple papers
Tumblr media
cover that paper front and back in tape, itll prevent the wet paint from leaking through or ruining your stencil, and youll be able to reuse it!
Tumblr media
Now comes the
SUFFERING
time to cut out those stencils.
take ur time doing this, yes itll take long but youll be able to use this stencil forever afterwards so its worth it.
make sure parts of the stencil you wanna keep are connected to eachother, so you dont lose detail in the stencil.
the white stripes on the stencil is where i drew the connections between the loose parts of the stencil
Tumblr media
time to paint
i always shove a big piece of cartboard inside the shirt im printing on to give me a surface to pin the stencil to and to prevent paint from leaking through, so it doesnt slide around while painting. (you can also tape the stencil down if you dont want to run the risk of the pins leaving small holes in your clothing)
to prevent paint from getting under the stencil i apply the paint by dabbing the point of a big brush, with a bit of paint on it, onto the fabric. itll take around three layers for the paint to cover completely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wow you did a craft!
i always iron my shirts after painting to "seal" the paint into the fabric. doesnt always work so i always wash my shirts by hand the first time to see how well the paint stays on.
feel free to ask any questions you have, i hope this was comprehensible

✨ B's RebelCaptain Rec List ✨
Tumblr media
Apologies in advance as I have NO DOUBT that I missed including some very talented individuals and their works in this list. (This is by no means comprehensive.)
I haven't been here all that long, but wow--since day one I've been blown away by the talent in this fandom and the dedication of all the creators.
So, thank you lovely souls for sharing your beautiful art (in all its many forms) for us to enjoy--and thank you RC community as a whole for being so lovely and welcoming this past year! I am truly grateful to be screaming/crying/rewriting canon with you 💖
Tumblr media
Give Up the Ghost by @frostbitepandaaaaa
I mean...what can I say? I love all of Frost's writing, but this was the first work I ever read of hers and it is devastating and gorgeous and will make you lose your mind. I remember the first time I read it just...lingering on certain sentences because I was in awe of how beautiful they were. Just read it. Trust me. (And then check out her WIP 12 Days afterwards!)
threshold by @astromechs
Another writer whose works I love. (Okay, that's pretty much everyone on this list--the RC fandom is so frickin talented). But for me, this fic in particular stands out as one that gives incredible insight into Cassian's character--and an adorable story overall. Heartfelt and beautiful.
built on hope by @luciechat
I am particularly obsessed with chapter 3 of this collection of prompt-writes Getting Back Together (in the Cold). Lucie paints the picture so clearly and the tension throughout is delicious. Highly recommend reading this RC Hoth fic--and Lucie's other amazing works!
we were never going to make it by @fulcrumstardust
Okay off the bat: be mindful of the tags! This was a whumptober fic and it is BIG SAD. But it is also so, so beautiful. The emotion woven throughout cuts to the bone and as painful as it was, the premise of the story was very well executed. (And if you're looking for a lighter read--maybe a spicy one--Moria's one-shot SOLAR STORM has such an incredible setup. The sexual tension is so well done.)
The RebelCaptain Romance Collection by @agentjackdaniels
I couldn't choose just one from this collection! Luce writes the softest, sweetest, fluffiest stories for RC that you will ever read. (Which makes perfect sense if you're lucky enough to get to know her because Luce is such a genuine, sweet soul.) These fics are like a warm-hug for the soul--just what you need after watching Rouge One.
the things you said by @gaygingersnaps
Again: I am not usually one for Modern AUs but I think the RC fandom is changing me and the first I ever read was Eli's amazing fic. I am obsessed with how Eli writes Jyn's internal dialogue. It's so in character and sharp and will make you smile and shake your head and go "Oh, Jyn!" This collection of stories is idiots-in-love like nothing else and you will fall in love with the world Eli has so thoughtfully crafted for a modern-day RC.
objection, your honor by @andorerso
I'm not usually one for modern AUs, but this fic is just so much fun. The banter between Cass and Jyn is so in character and so sharp and witty and the whole time I was reading I had a grin on my face. (These two idiots.) I love all the little details Sissi considers in this AU (Chewie being the dog for example), but that's no surprise! She is the queen of AUs!
Tethered (to the Story We Must Tell) by @dilf-din
I just absolutely loved the setup for this fic. Jess manages to fit these characters into a magical world so seamlessly by embedding the most incredible details from the Star Wars universe. (I was obsessed with the "stormtroopers".) Jess's writing is so smooth and rich and will immediately grab your attention.
Coping Mechanisms by @mosylufanfic
I think this was the first fic I ever read of mosylu's! I love the way she writes Jyn--always perfectly in character, strong and sassy. But in this fic in particular, I love the softness she brings to Jyn in how she cares for Cassian. I found it to be a very beautiful, healing read. (But if you're looking for something a bit longer or more upbeat! I mean, take your pick. Mosylu is another author who is amazing at AUs and her works are always such fun reads.)
Tumblr media
RC Proposal by @ninsletamain
I could have put any of nins' pieces down as a rec. (Like seriously go scroll her feed she's insanely talented and her work blows my mind everytime without fail). But I chose this one because it is just so rich and full of detail, I love the story it tells, and you cannot help but smile whenever you look at it.
Claw Machine by @winterdruid
Definitely an all-time favorite for me. I remember making a joke about claw-machine as a first date when I was doing a RO rewatch with some friends and then this masterpiece showed up on my feed and my jaw dropped?! It's so fun and cute and well-done and I reblog it every time I see it soooo.
Seashore (for RC Fluffbruary) by @adeptnenyim
I love the scenery, their poses, their expressions, the quote?! Ahhh all of it! Nen's art is so soft and special and gives me all the feels and this one is no exception.
BTS of RO Inspired by @art-question-mark
I have always loved the picture this piece is based off of. In my head, it is happy Jyn and Cass. In my head, it is canon. Natalie's style is so beautiful and I love some of the quotes Natalie pulls from the Rogue One novel to go with the art!
Pretty Cute by @muguathepapaya
This piece is super cute and exactly what they deserved. I'm obsessed. Gives me all the warm and fuzzies. Sunshine on a rainy day, so gorgeous.
Time to Wake Up by @eegnm
Okay are you noticing the theme yet? I love seeing these two happy, and this scene in particular is just so...warm. I love the cuddly vibes, their expressions, all of it. You can feel the love in it.
losers by @necr0mancers
I am obsessed with the look they are exchanging. Very conspiratorial and so true to them. I also just love the style of this artists' works and the sense of humor woven through many of their pieces.
Elevator Scene by @satmolly
Nope I actually do not have words for this one. I think it says enough. (This happened, and it happened just like this and it is so very beautiful).
Favorite Scene (beach) by @dramaticmusicplaying
Another one that leaves me speechless. (Okay, they ALL do I feel like I am not doing these artists justice I'M SORRY). I just think this piece captures the beach perfectly and I love the style and all the colors and I kinda need to cry after looking at it okay?!
Jyn/Cassian Smooch by @barrikae
I am totally obsessed with this artist's style and this image in particular is just: ahhhhh! You know? Like look at themmmmm. Thank you for this barrikae.
Space Travel by @freebooter4ever
Your honor, they are holding hands and they are so very sleepy and I am so very in love with this piece. I love the artist's style and again, amazing scene set. Lives rent free in my mind.
Tumblr media
Tagging creators for this one vs specific sets (cause you CANNOT make me choose honestly) and linking this post I wrote awhile back about how incredible I think you all are! (As in: I specifically had RC creators in mind when I wrote that post.)
*This is the list I am most nervous about cause I am almost certain I am forgetting people so if you see this and you make gifs for RC please know I love you and your work <3

i hope this isn't a weird ask, but i'm looking for some hope. i consider myself really fucking stupid. i don't think i have good "critical thinking" skills, or even good reading comprehension. do you think it's possible to get better at those things?
as i mentioned earlier, my answer is yes. as i also mentioned, i genuinely think that the fact that you are less than confident about your skills in these areas is itself valuable and not as common as it probably should be. i have worked with a fair number of kids, both in the elementary school classroom and in the upper grades for test prep stuff, whose reading comprehension isn't great, but who genuinely do not seem to notice there is anything off about their reading until they have to answer questions about it. they're in the habit of just glossing by a lot of stuff and not noticing. i have met kids who would swear to you they love to read who cannot accurately recount what actually happens in the scene they just read, but who seem pretty confident that what they're doing is reading. so if you're going around reading stuff and thinking, "hey, that's confusing" - congratulations! you are great at self-assessing your own comprehension. this is REALLY HARD for a lot of people to do.
i also think it's actually important to NOT think of either reading comprehension or critical thinking as a binary on/off switch, where you're either good at it or bad at it. both of these things are spectrums. in addition, both of these things are context dependent. there are a lot of things i have pretty good reading comprehension for. there are also types of text where my reading comprehension is straight-up bad: scientific papers published for other scientists to read; philosophy or literary theory of any kind; poetry. i tried to reread laura mulvey's original "male gaze" essay because i suspected people were using the concept wrong both in its favor, and i couldn't meaningfully follow its argument (although i think i am probably right because i don't really believe that many randos are so much better at interpreting freudian film theory than i am, lmao). these are all examples of texts where i don't have a lot of background knowledge in the subject area or a lot of experience reading this kind of thing. they are also mostly things i don't care enough about to put in the time and effort to get better at. (sometimes i think about trying to do this with poetry, but i have not prioritized this yet, to say the least.)
critical thinking also depends majorly on familiarity with a topic or at least with a field. i'll give you an example. on the podcast maintenance phase, the hosts attempt to apply critical thinking to common perceptions of scientific research. some of their points are good, and many of them sound convincing to me, a person who doesn't know a lot about science. but i soured on the podcast over time largely because on the subreddit for the show, an attempt at a scientific deep dive often brought at least one person who was like, "i have some expertise in this field and they are wrong." sometimes this is about interpreting a specific study (or, uh basic factual shit like the definition of a word), but a lot of times it's about big picture stuff that is hard to think about if you don't have experience in the field. one recent example that interested me was regarding a study done on ozempic. the hosts mentioned that in the trial, (iirc) two people died. sounds scary and not great! someone on reddit pointed out, though, that this was a very large study that recorded deaths for any reason - it's probably not statistically anomalous that two out of however many people died, and there's no evidence to indicate that ozempic had anything to do with it. i appreciated this science-minded redditor because i definitely listened to the episode and was like, wow! scary! but when i read that explanation i was like, oh, okay, yeah.
i am not any kind of expert, and i guess you didn't technically ask for advice, but here are some things that may or may not be helpful.
with regard to reading comprehension:
struggle is a normal part of reading, especially of reading complicated texts. if you are struggling with a text, it does NOT mean you "have bad reading comprehension" or are fucking up. it indicates you have good self-awareness about your own level of comprehension.
i don't have research on this one. this is speculation. but my hunch is that for people who have a certain baseline level of reading comprehension, reading things that are challenging to understand over time increases the amount of stuff you can read easily. i was definitely better at reading books by historians at the end of my history degree than i was at the start. and honestly, i was also better at it after i spent like a year obsessively reading books about new york city history than i was when i graduated!
related to that, it's okay to understand something mostly but not all the way!
it's also okay to determine your own goals for understanding, and spend your time appropriately! i have a terrible visual imagination so to really fully "comprehend" any passage in any novel that describes the layout of a room, i would have to get a notebook out and draw it. i'm not gonna do that. (weirdly, though, i often love reading that shit anyway, haha.)
there is a lot of research out there emphasizing the importance of background knowledge to comprehension. (natalie wexler has written a book about this i haven't read, along with some articles i have read.) the scary way to look at this link is, "oh no, how can i learn all the things i need to know?" the awesome and exciting way to look at it is, every time you learn something, it widens the circle of things you can read, which means it widens the circle of things you can learn about, which means you can keep leaning.
you can also google stuff. one time i was confused by a book's explanation of a government policy so i googled and found some articles that covered it in more detail. (and also discovered that the specific example the book had used had been phased out of the law by the time it was published, lol.)
there are some strategies that have been found to increase reading performance, but the research around these is mostly around them as teaching strategies. my favorite reading guy timothy shanahan has speculated that the thing the strategies all have in common is they're ways of getting kids to actually pay attention when they read. the main strategy i think has value for people who want to get better at reading on their own is summarizing. every so often, take a moment to put into your own words what you've just read. how often will depend on what you are reading and how challenging it is. every paragraph is a often a good benchmark for something dense, especially as you are getting used to reading like this. every page or every chapter might be more appropriate for something like a novel. there have been times when i've done this sentence by sentence because something was really fucking dense! (a general note: this can also help people who feel their reading comprehension is mostly fine but have a lot of trouble remembering what they read. when i started doing this kind of thing consciously it improved my recall a lot, and i had a decent memory for textual information to begin with.) (if you REALLY want a power-up, taking notes is great, but most people understandably don't want to do this for their recreational reading.) over time there is also a good chance that you'll start doing this more fluidly and automatically as you read and not have to choose to do it consciously as much. but if not that's ok!
a strategy that is not always a natural fit for reading on your own but can be useful for certain kinds of reading is setting yourself questions to answer and then seeing if you can answer them. obviously, this typically makes more sense as a teaching strategy because how can you know what a text will contain until you read it? but there are times you can make a pretty educated guess, or stick to a really basic thing like "what is [thing this is promising to explain]?" i once picked up a particular NYC history book because it had been cited somewhere else as containing an account of the consolidation for the five boroughs. it was a really dense book and i decided that while i probably wouldn't retain many of the details its covered, i really wanted to learn from this book the author's answer to why the boroughs became one. four years later i still remember most of the reasons he gave! (harbor maintenance; economic competition with other large cities; a belief in some quarters that brooklyn would be a good influence on the manhattan political machine; i think there was one or two more but i'm 95% sure those were the ones cited as being most important.)
look up words! honestly tutoring has made ME realize how many words out there i "sort of" know but can't provide great definitions for, lol. a site i always recommend for my students doing vocab is learnersdictionary.com, which is by the encyclopedia britannica people and aimed for kids. it's a pretty full dictionary, but the definitions, while still accurate, are a lot more "user-friendly" than most dictionary definitions, which can be technical in a way that makes them less than illuminating.
for critical thinking:
honestly at LEAST half your battle is won. the main error i see people make in the realm of critical thinking is believing they are qualified to assess information they are not in fact qualified to do. the name of the game is humility.
i think my own critical thinking skills have really benefited from times when i've been able to read multiple perspectives on a fairly narrow topic. when i was in my NYC history era (i really gotta get back on that train), one thing i did was that every time i finished a book, i popped over to JSTOR to see if any scholars had reviewed it. i specifically wanted scholarly reviews because those are the people who can point out things i would NEVER have thought of because i did not have their years of expertise. for example, i read this one jill lepore book that was... fine... but there was a review of it that was like, "it's weird that based on her sources she didn't consult the largest and most important archive related to this place during this period, and as a result is mistaken about how common or uncommon certain things she describes are." i have never heard of that archive so i am glad someone pointed that out!
you can't always do that, obviously, and also sometimes you don't want to. but i think doing that regularly for a while helped me increase my intellectual humility and build the habit of filing things i read as "interesting if true" while leaving room for the fact that maybe they're not. (honestly the maintenance phase subreddit felt like a podcast version of this, lol, and i appreciated it a lot!)
idk. there is a fad these days for teaching "critical thinking skills"; as i mentioned in the post i assume prompted this, there is also debate about whether this is even a thing. in grad school, i felt like i saw a lot of people who had learned to mimic what they thought of as critical thinking by asking things like, "what about kids who belong to [a particular underrepresented group]?" or "how does the author have bias?" and those are good questions to ask, but knowing to ask those questions is not the same as thinking critically. if i were to try to give a shorthand question that guides my own attempts to think critically, it would be something like, "how does this person establish that what they claim to be true is actually true?" the sources they use are part of this, yes, but, again, asking "what about the sources???" is not, in and of itself, critical thinking. you also have to think about things like, "they go from this idea to that idea, but does idea 2 actually follow from idea 1?" and the number one bias you have to watch out for is your own.
i want to state again here that this is not a binary and the goal is not to be good at it, it's to keep getting better. years ago, i read an article in the atlantic by a professor of math education about the importance of counting on one's fingers in early math. i was like, wow, that's so cool and interesting. i had a first grader who was really struggling with some very basic stuff, and i did some exercises from the article with him because i thought they might help. maybe three years later, if that, i came across the article again, because i had just looked up something else by the author and been like, "wait, what? this seems blatantly not factual?" i remembered that i had liked this thing she had said about finger-counting, and i went back to try to figure out if that one had been better or if i had been mistaken, and i was, like, horrified that the atlantic had printed this and that i had once read it and nodded along like "so true bestie." the article was full of leaps in logic that sounded good but weren't actually supported at all. i'm sharing this story because if you feel like you are bad at critical thinking.... like, me too, sometimes!!!!! everyone is!!!!! if someone tells you they are super awesome at critical thinking all the time, that person is a fucking idiot and you shouldn't trust them for shit!!!!!
one other thing i can't not address: i once not too long ago made a post to the effect of "my life got a lot better when i accepted the possibility of being stupid," so i did not want to harp on this off the bat or too strongly for fear of being a hypocrite, lol, and i don't want to argue with you, a total stranger, about your perception of yourself, because i am allergic to people doing that to me. however, i would feel wrong not to mention that the specific phrasing and language you use in your ask suggests to me that when you think of yourself as "really fucking stupid," there is likely a significant emotional component in that belief and the emotions that it brings up in you, and i would be pretty surprised if it were not at least partly a reflection of your general relationship with yourself. i am telling you this because it reminds me of the way that i used to think about myself in my brain. i reliably performed well academically when i wasn't having a nervous breakdown, but i thought of myself as deeply stupid until mid twenties. there are a couple of factors i can point to regarding why i don't feel that way anymore, but by far the biggest, i think, is just that i don't hate myself the way i used to. thinking of myself as stupid in the particular vitriolic way your ask reminded me of was never actually about my smarts or lack thereof. it was just a manifestation of my deep and painful self-loathing. so i encourage you to cultivate a way of being kind to yourself, of forgiving yourself, of letting go of the shame you might be carrying about your skills or about other things that might seem unrelated. my final answer to your question is that there's hope for your capacity to grow, but it's also okay for you to be where you are. this is about reading, but it's also about everything else.
finally, if you are confused about anything i've written here, feel free to ask for clarification. i am good with words and i've tried to be clear, but one of the writing-related skills i suck MOST at is being able to gauge whether or not i have written something in a needlessly confusing way, lmao.

hey I have another request since you asked to keep them coming. how about academic rivals with victor vale (lockland era) turned to allies (*cough* lovers) fighting against eli? it would be also awesome for reader to be an EO <33
I am so so so sorry about the long wait, but thank you for being patient! This request is amazing and I hope I did it justice; it's my first time writing rivals to lovers allies, so I hope it's okay! Please feel free to leave feedback and let me know what you think. Thanks again for the great requests!🤍
Warnings: angst, fluff, discussions of death and EOs, reader's ability is discussed (it's controlling vehicles), reader and Victor call each other stupid/just are generally mean to each other, spoilers for Vicious. I think that's all?
Word Count: ~4.6k words
A/N: We need more Victor Vale gifs.
Tumblr media
10 Years Ago - Lockland
You’re sitting in the quiet library, tapping your pen against your lower lip as you look back and forth between the open textbook and your nearly full notebook. The Comprehensive Science Seminar is ending, and it’s time to declare a thesis. You’ve been fighting through this course and are struggling to find the perfect topic. An idea pops into your head, and you scribble it on the last page of your notebook. As you pull the pen away, someone drops a paper onto your book.
“Wow, 95. You must be so proud,” you say emotionlessly, pushing the paper across the table as the owner, Victor Vale, sits across from you.
“It’s alright. What’d you get?” Victor asks, and you swear you see the hint of a smile.
“I don’t know, I haven’t been in to see Professor Lyne yet. No doubt it’s a 96 or higher.” You send him a fake smile before looking back at your notes.
“Hmm. And your thesis?”
“Yours?”
Victor stares at you before shrugging. “Coming along nicely.”
“Mine too. Now if you don’t mind.”
“Right, right. I wouldn’t want to bother Lockland’s number 2 student. See you tomorrow.”
“Not if there’s any hope in the world.”
You pinch the bridge of your nose and groan quietly. I need a better thesis if I want to beat him, you think, and open a different textbook.
14 Years Ago - Lockland
“Mr. Vale, you will be paired with… your neighbor, nice planning,” the professor announces.
He continues down the list as you look over at Mr. Vale.
“I’ll handle it,” he mutters, reaching for the worksheet.
You slap a hand onto it, stopping him as you argue, “That’s not gonna work for me. I don’t really need the fate of my GPA in… those hands.”
The corner of his lip twitches up for just a moment. “Well these hands happen to have a better GPA than you. So, if it works for you, I’ll give yours a little boost. They love charity work here, it’s like an extracurricular.”
“Well, as much as I appreciate that,” you bite out, “I don’t trust you or your high GPA hands. So we do it together, or I take the A and tell everyone that you didn’t demonstrate the signature ‘Lockland Teamwork.’”
Victor cracks his neck before pushing the paper toward your side of the lab table. “Fine. But if we don’t do well on this I will make sure you never show your face at Lockland again.”
“Yeah, we’ll see how you feel after you lose your title of highest GPA, Vale.”
10 Years Ago - Lockland
“All right. It’s time to declare your thesis,” Professor Lyne announces.
You stare at the back of Victor’s head, two thesis options on a notecard on your desk. Are you waiting to see what he picks? Maybe. But you’re one or two higher grades away from taking Victor’s class ranking, and you will do it. If it’s the last thing you do.
Professor Lyne goes through his warnings about what makes a good thesis, and then you drown everything out. Bouncing your leg, you hope this goes well.
“And you, Mr. Vale?” Professor Lyne asks, pulling you from your thoughts.
You see Victor look at Eli, then he turns and glances at you. Your brows furrow as he answers, “Adrenal inducers.”
Professor Lyne begins to argue, and Victor adds, “Adrenaline and its physical and emotional inducers and consequences. Biochemical thresholds. Fight or flight, That kind of thing.”
Watching with bated breath, you’re surprised when Professor Lyne nods and says, “Don’t make me regret it.”
You can practically feel the victory radiating off Victor as Professor Lyne turns his attention to you, sitting between Eli and Victor, a row behind. You state your first thesis idea, and Professor Lyne tilts his head as he nods.
“Excellent choice,” he says. “Eli Cardale.”
You take a deep breath, a small smile on your face. This smile, however, falls as Eli answers.
“EOs,” Eli says calmly.
You don’t hear the rest of the conversation until the end when Professor Lyne concedes with a simple: “Fine.”
Fine? you think. He’s going to kill someone; he’s insane.
Victor follows Eli outside, and for a brief moment, you’re concerned, then you realize that his concern for his psycho friend may give you the advantage you need.
You can win even after sacrificing a pawn, after all.
With your entire focus on beating Victor, you hardly notice that you haven’t seen him around as much. At least until you learn he tried to kill himself. After an internal war, wondering if you should visit him, you get in your car and drive to the hospital where he is.
When you find his room, you knock on the door. “Hey.”
“What are you doing here?” he asks.
“Wow. Great to see you too, oh, it was no problem to come down and see you,” you respond.
Victor shakes his head. “Thanks, I guess. Why are you here?”
You shrug. “I figured I could apologize, since my amazing thesis drove you to such lengths.”
Victor barks out a harsh laugh. “You wish this was about you.”
“Then what’s it about?”
“You wouldn’t understand.”
“Right, because I’m just a stupid girl whose GPA isn’t as high as yours and my mommy and daddy don’t write self-help books that end up with cryptic, messed-up messages.”
“See? Don’t understand.”
“Well, then, in that case, I’ll get going. I’ve got an ‘excellent’ thesis to work on. See ya, Vale, unless they finally see that it’s not just smart up there.”
You walk out, fuming. Victor is a lot of things, and infuriating is at the top of the list. He thinks you’re too stupid to understand? You’d bet money you know what happened.
In your car, you look down at your phone and find Eli’s number, prepared to check your hypothesis that he was involved. It rings as you drive, and you hear Eli answer just before you see a truck swerve into your lane.
10 Years Ago - Lockland Medical Center
You gasp for air when you wake up. Doctors and nurses are surrounding you; one pulls an adrenaline shot away as the others keep you still to tend to your wounds. Losing control is something you don’t usually feel, and you don’t like it. Their voices fade as your blinks grow slower, control slipping from your grasp.
The light in the hospital room is not helpful in your battle to open your eyes. When your surroundings become clear, you see the date on the wall. Your thesis is due tomorrow.
“Um, excuse me?” you ask a passing nurse. “I really need to get going, I have a thesis due.”
“Someone is on their way to talk with you,” she says kindly before hurrying out.
Professor Lyne’s assistant knocks on the door a few minutes later, sorrow and hurt in his eyes. “I was sorry to hear about your accident, but I’m glad you’re doing better. Modern medicine is something to behold.”
“Right,” you mumble. “And my thesis?”
“You’ll receive full credit for the course and have an indefinite extension. Professor Lyne…” His voice catches, and he clears his throat before continuing, “Professor Lyne had an accident at the school. He passed away yesterday.”
“He’s gone?”
“Yes, I’m sorry. I reviewed your thesis draft with him the previous day and he was very impressed, so when you are able to submit it, I have no doubt you will receive praise.”
A tear rolls down his cheek, and he hastily excuses himself. Professor Lyne was impressed; you wonder if he reviewed Victor’s work. Or if Victor even did any work after his “accident.”
“Hello?” you ask, answering your phone.
“Hey, it’s Eli. Victor tried to kill me,” Eli says quickly.
“Eli?” you ask after a moment. “How did you get my number?”
“Focus! Vic. Tried. To. Kill. Me,” he repeats slowly.
You probably deserved it, you think. Instead of saying that, you ask, “But you’re okay?”
“Oh, yeah, I’m fine. Victor is messed up though.”
“Eli, why are you telling me this?”
“Think about it. He tolerates me, but he hates you. Just be careful.”
Eli ends the call, and you decide he’s crazier than you thought. You glance around the hospital room, stopping to look out the window and feel a strange buzzing sensation as a truck passes outside. It swerves onto the curb, then the buzzing fades, and the driver corrects his mistake and keeps driving. Weird.
“Ma’am, I have the paperwork here if you’re ready to leave,” a nurse informs you.
“Oh, I am,” you answer, reaching for the pen.
9 Years Ago - Lockland
You walk the stage and accept your degree. The small class in your Comprehensive Science Seminar receives a special ceremony. Except for the two who didn’t submit their theses: Victor Vale and Eli Cardale. You thought that if either of them went to jail, it would be Eli. After hearing what Victor did to Angie Knight, you realize that maybe your academic hatred for him stemmed from a deeper understanding of his character.
It happens again when you leave the ceremony to enter the next part of your life and start a new job with your new degree. You look at a truck and feel a buzzing before it swerves. You step back, and it doesn’t stop; at the last second before impact, you flip your hand to the side, and the truck rolls over, stopping in the middle of the road.
You look between your hand and the truck, and worry fills your mind as you realize Eli was right.
Two Weeks Ago - Wrighton Penitentiary
“Who’re you here to see?”
“Victor Vale,” you answer.
The disinterested guard taps a few keys on a computer. “He was in solitary for a long time. Folks like that don’t usually get visitors.”
You nod. “It’s been a long time. He’s not in solitary anymore, so I can see him, right?”
The guard huffs before pushing a clipboard through the small opening in the bulletproof glass. “Sign these, then go through the metal detectors. They’ll show you where to go.”
“Thank you.”
You rush through the paperwork and then through the security checkpoint. Sitting in front of the bulletproof divider, you tap your fingers on the metal table, glancing between the phone and the door. When Victor enters, his eyes land on you, as cold and hateful as ever.
“Hey,” you say into the phone after he picks the other side up.
“What do you want?”
“That’s your go-to line, isn’t it?”
“It’s been years,” Victor spits out your last name, “why now?”
You look around before lowering your voice to say, “He was right and you know something.”
“Who?”
“Eli. Who else, Victor? The guy you… injured.”
“What exactly do you want from me?”
“Answers! And don’t tell me that I won’t understand, I’m the one with a college degree and you’re in a jail cell,” you snap.
“Top of the class?” You nod, and Victor mumbles, “Just because I dropped out.”
“I would’ve beat your little ‘flight or fight’ thesis and you know it. Now tell me what happened.”
“Nothing happened and nothing is going to happen. My time’s up. Bye.”
He slams the phone and storms out, not sparing a glance over his shoulder. The ache you refused to acknowledge disappears as he does. That’s what I thought, you think.
You spend the next few days trying to figure out what power Eli has. If Victor attempted to kill him and failed, then Eli must be invincible. There’s a way around that; there has to be. Staying near the prison wasn’t a conscious choice, but you’re less than a mile away, just in case.
One Week Ago - Wrighton Penitentiary
Reading on your porch, you don’t expect to witness someone trying to steal your car. Focusing, you rev the engine and flash the headlights as you walk toward them.
“I knew I was smarter than you, but I didn’t think you were this much of an idiot,” you tell Victor.
“How did you do that?” he asks.
“I already told you, I know more than you think.”
“We need your car,” Victor says.
“Not without me. You can take it, on the condition I go with it.”
“Absolutely not. Give me the keys or we’ll take it another way,” Victor threatens.
You square your shoulders and look into his eyes with the same tenacity and stubbornness he hated in college.
“How? Gonna hurt me again; use the pain to distract me? Is that your thing?”
The man with him looks back and forth between you.
“You don’t know half as much as you think you do.”
You rev the engine and watch Victor’s eyes move to the car. “I know that you and Eli are EOs. And I know that you’re both crazy, but you’re not quite as crazy. Now, do you want to stand here until you get caught or take me up on the offer and get out of here?”
“I don’t want you coming with us,” he snaps.
You see a police car approaching and direct it into a U-turn to send it in the other direction.
“You’re-”
“An EO? Thought you were smart enough to notice, Vale. Last chance: car or no car?”
“Fine,” he concedes as sirens grow louder. “But I’m driving.”
“Not a chance. Besides, I can control it from the passenger seat, idiot.”
Victor rolls his eyes as he rushes to the passenger side, sitting low in the seat as his (friend? acquaintance?) lays down in the backseat. You introduce yourself quickly.
“Mitch,” he answers. “Thanks for covering for us.”
“Mostly you, Mitch.”
“So I’ve heard,” he mumbles.
“Where are we going?” you ask.
“We can go to my parents’ house. They’re on a book tour,” Victor answers.
“Of course they are. Then what?”
“We find him.”
You nod, directing police cars past you as you turn off of the main road.
“And kill him, I presume? Since you failed last time,” you add.
“How do you know about that?”
“He called me. Warned me that since you hated me more than him, I was probably next.”
“And you didn’t care?”
“I was in the hospital, so yeah, it wasn’t really a top priority.”
“How’d you die?” Mitch asks. “Sorry, is that insensitive? I’m new to the Extra-Ordinary thing.”
“It should be insensitive, but it’s fine,” you answer gently. Softer than you’ve ever talked to Victor. “I was in a car accident after I visited Prince Vale over here after his overdose. A failed attempt at getting superpowers, I realize now.”
“You were in a wreck? I didn’t know,” Victor says, pulling himself up into the seat.
“I’m shocked,” you answer sarcastically, “because you always cared so much about me. We hate each other, Victor, I didn’t expect flowers.”
Victor nods and tells you how to get to his parents’ house. Mitch sighs after each of his hurtful comments, but you’re immune to them.
10 Days Ago - On the Road
“They’re back,” Mitch says, looking at the armored truck out the back window.
“I can get them off our trail, for good, but it will put a target on our back,” you offer.
“Not alone, you can’t,” Victor argues.
You nod. “Then what do we do?”
“Stop the car.”
You do as he says, telling Mitch to get down as you and Victor get out of the car.
“I am smart enough to do this by myself,” you whisper.
“Sure you are,” Victor replies. “Flip it and I’ll finish them off.”
“Okay,” you breathe out before focusing on flipping the vehicle end over end into a roadside ditch.
You watch as Victor approaches the cracked windshield. Closing your eyes as if it will protect you against the pained screams, you hear the last officer take his final breath before Victor returns to the car.
“Let’s go,” he hurries you. “If it helps your conscience, you didn’t kill any of them, just hurt them.”
If only you could believe that.
One Week Ago - Vale House
“Is that who I think it is?” you ask, looking over Mitch’s shoulder.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen him,” Mitch answers. “Is it? This just says ‘Civilian Hero Saves Bank.’”
“Yeah, that’s Eli Cardale. He hasn’t aged a day, though.”
You’re leaning over onto the table, reading the article when Victor enters.
“What’s so interesting?” Victor asks.
“Mitch found Eli,” you answer.
“Where?”
He joins you, his arm brushing against yours, and for once, you don’t immediately pull away.
“Merit,” Mitch says. “He’s some kind of vigilante.”
You and Victor make the same sound: muted amusement covered by exasperation. Mitch looks at you, then back to the screen.
“The article doesn’t say his name? I thought he’d want the fame,” you add.
“He doesn’t. He thinks God sent him back to take care of EOs.”
“Eli Cardale thinks he’s God? That makes sense.”
“Ever. He changed his name to Eli Ever.”
“Someone was jealous of someone else’s alliteration, Peter Parker,” you point out, smiling as Victor sighs.
The night before you leave for Merit, you ask Mitch to find Victor’s records, reading the reports of both deaths - his overdose and the one he caused. After his overdose, no one told you he died, and you had no idea about what happened with Angie.
“What are you doing?” Victor asks, suddenly behind you.
“Getting answers,” you reply, turning the computer off and walking away.
Victor follows you through the large glass doors onto the deck.
“So it’s okay for you to go digging around in my past when you won’t answer a single question about yours?” Victor snaps.
“What do you want to know? That I got hit by a truck and brought back to life two times? That I put everything I had left into that thesis? That the first time I realized I had a power was because of you?”
“Why didn’t you tell anyone? You knew Eli and I were looking into EOs.”
“This isn’t my fault, Victor!”
“You were being reckless! Still are!”
“And you’re still stupid! Who in their right mind kills themselves, not once, but twice, just to get superpowers?” you yell, stepping closer to Victor.
“You have powers too! And we both know I’m not the stupid one here.”
“Are we seriously arguing over who’s smarter? We just killed several people, Victor!”
“We? There was no we when we had that group project and you deleted my work to replace it with your own.”
“You were wrong and you know it,” you reply, rolling your eyes and crossing your arms.
“My GPA begs to differ.”
“You didn’t even graduate and you’re still infuriating.”
“And you’re smarter than you think, just won’t apply yourself like I do!”
“Shut up, Victor.”
“Make me.”
You grab his coat and pull him in, crashing your lips against his. His hands meet your waist, and he slows the kiss, moving his lips against yours. When you realize what you’re doing, you pull back.
“We- uh- we can’t stay here forever, your parents have to come back eventually,” you say quietly, Victor’s coat still in your hands.
“I know, but I don’t think we can do this alone. I can turn myself in and get another guy. Someone who can kill the unkillable.”
“That’s an incredibly stupid idea, Victor.”
“Do you have a better one?” Victor asks sharply.
“A few, actually. And they don’t require you to go back to prison and leave me here.”
“I’m not pulling you into this, too. If Eli kills me....”
“That’s not your decision, Vic.”
He takes a few deep breaths before nodding. “Okay,” he whispers.
Six Days Ago - Merit
You and Victor walk out of a store with several supplies, including Mitch’s chocolate milk and a first aid kit for Sydney’s gunshot wound. She’s only been with you for a few hours since you drove into Merit, but you feel attached to her already. Suddenly, you drop the bags as an intense pain overwhelms your senses.
“Vic?” you ask, looking up at him.
You watch, helpless, as he calls the police with an anonymous tip that escaped convict Victor Vale was seen in Merit.
“You lied to me!” you accuse through your tears. “Don’t do this!”
He kneels before you, brushing his finger over your cheekbone and kissing your forehead. “I’ll find you when I get out.”
“I’ll find you if you don’t. Please don’t be stupid about this,” you beg.
“See you around. Maybe study biology to pass the time and we can have a rematch test,” Victor says before standing and approaching the curb.
He raises his hands and falls to his knees as the police descend upon him and handcuff him. Even though you could stop it all with the wave of a hand, you watch, vowing to keep your promise or die trying. And you would have done better in that biology class if your teacher had been a fair grader.
You return to the room at the Esquire, tears still running down your face.
“What happened?” Sydney asks, rushing to your side when you enter.
“That idiot got himself arrested just to break out again with more help,” you answer, no emotion in your voice. “So we have to do something.”
“Okay, this is when Victor would tell you not to be stupid,” Mitch interjects.
“Well, Victor thinks I’m stupid all the time. Let’s prove him right,” you reply, shrugging.
“How?” Mitch asks.
“Sydney Vale here is going to visit her big brother, I’m going to crash a truck into a wall and we’re going to make sure Eli is ready for the taking as soon as Victor is out. Maybe not in that order.”
“Meaning?” Mitch asks carefully.
“No time for questions. You stay here and send me layouts of the jail and Sydney and I will bring Victor back soon.”
Sydney wordlessly follows you, more than happy to help you get Victor back.
Five Days Ago - Merit Police Department
The time and place have been set: Midnight at Falcon Price. Now, to get the last member of your team back.
You and Sydney sit across from Victor, pretending to be checking on him until you create an excuse to leave.
“Is she okay?” Victor asks.
“Cover your head,” Sydney whispers.
Victor’s eyes widen when he hears brakes squeal and horns blowing, but he covers his head like Sydney asks. When the front end of a semi breaks through the wall before reversing out, Victor turns up the pain around him to distract everyone as he gets Sydney over the bulletproof divider and outside.
You rev the engine of the car you’re in and smile as Victor and Sydney climb in.
“I told you to wait,” Victor admonishes.
“We found him and we have a meeting. Four days, so find a new partner.”
“We need to figure out how Eli is finding them,” Victor mumbles.
“Mitch is working on it,” you reply.
“You know that was stupid, right?” Victor asks, changing the subject.
“Isn’t everything I do?”
“Maybe not everything,” Victor answers slowly, thinking about what happened at his parents’ house.
“Maybe not,” you agree, smiling.
10 Hours to Midnight - Merit
“You’re not going,” Victor repeats.
“Yes, I am. You need backup and I’m not just going to sit here,” you argue. You lower your voice to add, “Sydney may buy your promise that you’re coming back, but I’m not stupid enough to trust you again. At least not yet. So I go, or no one goes.”
“This is prison break day all over again,” Victor mumbles, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Is that a yes?”
“It’s a hesitant yes.”
“Perfect. Then let’s finish this, Victor.”
“And then what?”
“Biology test then a shot at freedom,” you answer. “In that order.”
Midnight - Falcon Price
You promised you wouldn’t interfere until you had to, but you can’t watch Eli touch Victor again. The building isn’t solid, yet you stand as you hear a large truck nearby. Directing it toward the building, you hope it doesn’t hurt Victor any more than he already is. Angling it so it affects the side where Eli is pacing more than where Victor is kneeling, bloody and bruised, you increase the speed and run it straight into the south corner of the Falcon Price project.
The building tilts and drops several feet as the load shifts onto the truck wedge in the load-bearing beams. Eli stumbles backward as you rush toward Victor.
“I should have known,” Eli says with a dark chuckle. “Although I wish I’d thought to recruit you before you two realized the line between hate and tolerance is so thin.”
“You would know,” you snap, wrapping an arm around Victor.
“But you see,” Eli continues, moving to the edge and looking over. “A truck isn’t enough to stop me. I’m invincible because God isn’t finished with me.”
“And when He is?” you ask.
“He’ll find a way.”
“How do you think you get to heaven, Cardale?” you ask, stalling.
The light of a plane catches your attention.
“It’s Ever,” he nearly growls.
“I’ve always wondered if it’s a plane that takes you to heaven,” you continue, willing yourself to control more than just trucks.
“You are as stupid as Victor said,” Eli mutters before raising his voice to ask, “What’s with the heaven questions? Didn't get an answer when you died at Lockand?”
“Yes or no on the plane, Eli?” you yell over the growing noise of the plane engine. “Because I think it’s time to board!”
You toss yourself over Victor as the plane crashes into the edge of the building, pulling Eli out of sight. Holding onto the chair bolted to the ground, you keep Victor from sliding over the edge as he tries to remain conscious.
“Was that a plane? I thought it was just trucks,” he mumbles as he pulls himself up.
“Apparently not. Now we need to get out of here before all those cops get here.”
“Didn’t think of that when I killed Serena.”
“Don’t think about that, Vic. Let’s focus on getting back to Sydney and Mitch; you have a promise to keep.”
After Midnight - Vale House
“Hey,” you call as you walk onto the deck and close the door behind you. “You okay?”
“Yeah. Eli survived, but Snell took him in for murder. Serena was really powerful," he answers, turning to face you.
“You did it.”
“You did most of it. Without the truck and plane, he would have killed me.”
“Maybe. What now?”
“I don’t think this will ever be over,” he says, sighing. “But for now…”
He leans in, and you lay your hands on his chest as you ask, “Biology test?”
“Depends. What does the winner get?”
“Hmm. Two days without the loser calling them stupid,” you suggest.
“That’s it? A make or break biology test and that’s the prize?”
“The title, bragging rights, what more do you need, Vale?”
He gets closer before answering, “I think you know.”
“Ah, you want to read my thesis. Well, I’m sure we can work something out.”
Victor presses his forehead against yours. “I’m going to win, so how about I pick the prize?”
“At the rate you’re going, softie, it’ll probably be a prize for me too. If you win.”
“We’ll see.”
Victor steps back, and you take his hand to lead him inside. He watches you and mumbles, “I’m not sure there is a punishment with you, stupid.”
“Heard that!”

Hi!!!!! I noticed your host!Amelia doodles and i thought it was SO cool and just wanted to know if you had any more info abt it?????? sorry to bothhher
Hi ♡ thank you for finding interest in it. I dont mind asks at all so dont even worry about that either... onto the actual question. Ill be real, most of my ideas for that au arent planned because the idea of it wasnt planned either. ...it came out of me playing tomadachi life. . . I can just recount everything so it makes more sense maybe
Tumblr media
Scenty doesn't make them do challenges she keeps them on the plane to live life like theyre bugs and basically finds joy in being able to watch them and maintain control while also craving more interaction from other people. this ultimately means that no one gets eliminated and no one is in any real danger. however, Charlotte is literally dying from the mold and ends up . yknow, dying. Freaking Scenty out because one she didn't expect it and two since she had never killed anyone during their stay in the plane she never learns the respawn command making it even more of a disaster to her mental state lol
Ok so this is where things get fuzzy im not to sure how charlotte does it BUT SHES ABLE TO NAVIGATE THE RADIO (maybe another stone is there in the waiting room idk let me have this) and ultimately is able to arrive back at earth. Parker runs into her they have a whole back and forth, Charlotte is avoiding him with her mixed feelings while Parker wants them to have some sort of communication because hes equally as worried for her as he is frustrated. Im pretty sure i planned for them to investigate the whole plane and maybe even more about Scenty (without knowing its the unknown 'deity' who trapped her and the others.) Charlotte concluded she has to stop Scenty by going back which . means she has to kill herself. Which Parker is immediately against and they have their second big fight but it ends with Charlotte dying anyway.
anyway SOMEHOW Charlotte is able to go to Scentys world and wow she finds out shes a normal person who just decided to fuck around and find out i guess. Scenty is immediately overwhelmed with joy because wow Charlottes here and shes alive! And shes. not a murderer, hah. But Charlotte is pissed so they definitely have a very funny bonding moment where Charlotte has to suppress the urge to kill this naive and too overbearing candle. While trying to figure out how to stop what she's doing with everyone else.
..and yeah, the ending is basically undecided because i had planned for either one of them to die.. OR BOTH who knows really but i still dunno either way so there's that. I hope you enjoyed my long spiel cause this might be what you get for a while lol and if none of this makes sense, then sorry, but i literally can not construct anything comprehensible in my current state LOL

you'll probably won't see this message but i'll send it anyway lol.. i love you speak your mind about how the ichihime ship isn't that great and has all the facts to bring it show that you're right. i always felt scared to say i don't ship ichihime cuz they're are alot of shippers that can get so intense about it. i always say that ichihime is a cute ship and they have their moments(i don't feel that way at all lol) cuz i don't want to be attacked for not liking how their story played out. twitter is a scary place oml💀 and they made me sorta believe that ichiruki doesn't have any chemistry and they're just siblings when i knew in my heart like yes they do have chemistry and are the superior ship. like ichigo cares more for chad and uryuu then orihime. but since their canon, i guess their love for each other is supposed to be legit. apparently ichigo sees his mother in orihime so i don't understand why that's not a turn-off for the shippers😭so yeah thanks for making me go back in my bleach fangirl era and making my 10-year old self to not feel guilty and stupid shipping ichiruki
Wow, thanks so much, anon! And ur welcome! I will forever be on IchiRuki's side no matter what anyone says 😤.
You don't have to be scared to support what was, and still is, the most popular ship in Bleach (and rightfully so). There was no real ship war during its run (despite what the antis try to claim now), as IR was shipped by most of the fanbase. IR had everything you could hope a M/F ship to have in a battle shounen, the most solid basis for becoming canon with just one more step...and yet... (Kubo fumbled 🙄). The theories on that are interesting...
While more than half the IR fandom is no longer active after that disastrous ending, it doesn't mean they're not still out there. I've seen even non-shippers still praise IR & see it as wasted potential & whatnot (triggering antis in the process 🤭). Not being canon doesn't take away from the fact that it is still the superior ship. Anyone with reading comprehension who reads the manga will see it & wonder why they didn't end up together.
IH was never popular in Japan. It was always far below IchiRuki & UlquiHime (Ori's most popular ship 👀. Kubo achieved in ONE arc what he couldn't achieve for IH the entire manga, like-). To this day, those 2 ships get more content than the canon ships 😌.
The antis are just triggered that despite becoming canon, their ship is still. not. popular. IH doesn't have nearly as much content (both canon AND fanon) as IR & UH despite being canon for almost 10 years. Yes, Kubo himself doesn't care enough to give them even one family sketch 🫢.
Compare that to the Naruto endgame ships (mainly NaruHina & SasuSaku), which have way more official AND fan content. Those were always popular, & still are, 10 years later since becoming canon. Pro-Bleach ED fans love to compare their ships with Naruto's yet are nowhere near as popular.
The IH's really thought they would get the NaruHina royal treatment after the ending (you know, like a movie, official drawings from the creator, interviews saying they were meant to be, merch, etc.), but instead only got a novel that wasn't even focused on them (Ren/Ruki is more popular than IH but mainly because of Rukia 🤣), which vaguely went over their so-called "development" & had chicken scratches a rough draft of a sketch for their ship 🫢. Kubo also invalidated the IH's claims that Ichigo always liked Ori, by saying in the JET interview that "vague feelings" began in COLLEGE 💀 (and AFTER Rukia's wedding, mind u). So, whatever the IH's claim is a romantic moment between them meant NOTHING to Ichigo in the ENTIRE manga 🤣.
The WDKALY novel has such OOC content on there, like it can't be taken seriously. Apparently, Kubo barely had any involvement with it anyway? Those sketches he drew sure are telling, esp if he calls his drawings here as a "rough draft" 💀
Tumblr media
"Chicken scratches" for the canon ships, fr 😭.
RR is another dumpster fire but also more meh for me so I don't have to delve into that one, however, here's a post I once made where I go over why I don't truly believe Renji had feelings for Rukia. Meanwhile, Rukia's sad expression on the novel cover & the sketch of heading to the altar with a scared expression (not even when she was headed to her own execution did she look like THAT) say it all anyway 🫢.
Oh, man, there's just so much to make fun of for the canon ships. Even when we lose, we still win. IH's have no content, so maybe that's why they're so bitter & IR & its shippers still live in their minds rent-free despite them calling it a "dead ship". You would think they'd happily enjoy their canon ship & yet... They get triggered whenever IR fanart garners thousands of likes on Twitter 😩...
So, anon, I suggest not to engage with antis, esp on platforms like Twitter & Reddit. They're cesspools full of dudebros & loud IH's. Ignore, block, &/or mute them. No need to try arguing with them & please do NOT cater to them. Do NOT give them the validation they don't even get from Kubo himself, nor his affiliates (LMFAO). Use that energy to look for other fellow IR's & enjoy IR content (and maybe anti-IH content in the right places; you can explore that tag on my blog if u wish 🤪).
As an old saying in this fandom went, "Keep Calm & Ship IchiRuki."

a little delayed but i wrote most of this in my notes app waiting for internet access hahaha i finished reading the third book yesterday, mostly in the car, im in the middle of a trip with family and relatives so this might be more vague/disorganized. mm okay thoughts on "those who leave and those who stay"!
i mean all of this in a lighthearted way! but wow idk what i was expecting with nino, i was lowkey hoping he wouldnt be a major character in the third book. oh my god, i swear every time ninos name was revealed (the author of some article, somebodys friend, some babys father, etc..) i mentally rolled my eyes.. i get that hes an important character and its great how he encourages lenu with her academic work much more than pietro ever did, but wow, tbh ive had enough with this guy hahaha
okay! i think what i liked most about this book is that that while the first two books were centered on lenu and lila looking towards their future and escaping their neighborhood, the third book was so much of them both looking back on the past. by that i mean, both their own lives in that neighborhood in naples, as well as history and politics globally.
anyway im glad we got more political history in this book, it just makes sense to i think. lenu and lilas lives are very much affected by it, and always had been, but it becomes much more clear to them now that theyre older, altho ig in different ways. mm like understanding the connection between the violence in the neighborhood they grew up in and the systems of exploitation that exist globally (like imagine finding your first boyfriend is the leader of some fascist thugs that beat ppl up in front of the factory your friend works at). i think its important bc ever since the first book im sure that we've been hearing from both lenu and lila that they feel as tho something beyond their grasp and comprehension is keeping them from escaping from the lives they had/have. and like.. maybe theyve known it was the patriarchy, fascism... before they even knew what it was. ahh the stuff that lenu said in the beginning about how we cant really escape bc the world is poisoned everywhere. its a bleak view, but that part in the very beginning was ahhhhh...
oh god, lenu having daughters.. like.. more mother/daughter relationship things... the things girls learn from their mothers (dede and elsa in front of the mirror acting dissatisfied with the way they look.. i know it was a short, insignificant scene but i would have cried) and also. when lenus mother came to take care of her, and she said "i was afraid she would never return. but she always did"... ahh!!! and then when elena told her daughters about leaving their father and both of her daughters asked if she would take them or begged her to stay. screams. oh oh oh and every single time she notices that one the younger children resembles their father???
as much as i do adore lenu, i find myself attached to lila.. so when there was that big chunk of just purely lilas part of the story, i was excited (despite the very distressing events)... anyway thoughts on that lila part:
i was thinking about how much this part showed how revolutionary movements arent that straightforward, esp between the actual working class and the intellectual students, like when revolutionary movements arent led by the ones the revolution was made purposefully to liberate? ohh actually i have a lot of thoughts on this and the events that happened, i like how much ferrante talks about it, but ill keep it short.. the part with lilas speech in the pamphlet, the fight in front of the factory, pasquale and nadia disagreeing with lenu helping lila, local and state armed fascists, union organizers not truly representing the workers, its relation to the patriarchy etc..
also so heartbreaking, seeing lila lose her mind over her child, believing that the closer he is to her, the more likely he'll break.. like her. god god i understand that feeling, but i imagine its so much worse for lila when its her own child. that thing about feeling trapped in the same fate as your parents is just so so sad. ive literally never wanted to have my own children bc of this.
i know im projecting onto lila, but tbh the idea that lila is aroace is...!!! haha.. like when she was crying and telling enzo that she loves him and wishes every night to hold him close, but "beyond that i dont want anything." and hhfhrh idk i feel this way for a lot of ppl and know i risk being left if im unable to give what the other person in a relationship wants and they suffer for it. hh
oh! i think its cool that while the revolutionary/workers rights movement was a bigger thing for lila, the feminist movement was more significant for lenu.. god pietro was so??? idk why he was so insistent on following traditional husband/wife roles. i thought something was off about him since they first got engaged and he didnt care of her novel. tbh i am happy for her and hope she gets to be content with her self and her life in the next book. oh and the new thing that lenu writes is so interesting... i think maybe the women in the books would find it the truth for them, except probably lila. so it was interesting when alfonso tells lila that he wants to if he was a woman, hed want to be like lila.
oh some other random parts i keep thinking about: when she and lila were talking excitedly like when they were children, and the talk finally inspired something in her to write a second novel. and when lila read it, and cries. and they both say they dont know who they are without the other.. and when lenu starts rambling about how she believes lila has the intense capacity for apocalyptic violence like she did at the start of the second book, i go crazy i love that hahaha. hmm and gigliola... i remember not thinking much of her yet in the first two books, but really i like her and feel a lot for her.
mm there might be stuff i forgotten to mention, but ill end this here for now! i cant believe its only one book left already...

hi there!!! just finished the doc you wrote about the last two eps of f&c and WOW you put everything into so much better words than i ever could have. 1000% agree with everything you said you are SO right and i will be citing this for anyone who i talk to about it... it's really comprehensive on all the issues i saw with it. you did a really awesome job on it and i really appreciate your work for it! i wanted to show my love for it so i doodled this betty from memory for you :-D hope you have a great day!
Tumblr media
(an aside i'd like to mention that you might've covered and i just don't remember is... i wish the episode covered more on the issues with his identity as compared to ice king or the lack thereof. he displayed it a lot in episode 2 and a bit in episode 4, at least to me - sort of related to your points on the conclusion not showing its effect on simon's issues with depression, i'm really sad to see that part of his arc get very little light, it was all just so pushed aside in those eps. MAYBE that specific aspect of the identity stuff is me projecting a little but oh well! i will simply imagine an ending that does conclude it properly ehehe)
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! i love this doodle & will cherish it forever w all my heart 🥺❤️ (and download it to my phone - the ultimate honor, as i have almost no space left in my gallery rn lmaoo) & yeah the essay didn't rlly discuss it but i TOTALLY agree! i was also disappointed they didn't really explore simon's identity issues much (if at all - but like, u can really stretch if u want 2 pretwnd they did lmao) @ the end despite it being such an important part of his character and also bettys, so they could have easily worked it into a betty & simon focoused ending & especially after how it was emphasized earlier on in the series! i honestly have a lot of complaints abt the way they handled simons character specifically that i didn't discuss in the essay bc it was already long enough & i wanted to keep it mostly focused on how the show messed up in regards to how betty & simon’s narratives intertwine together ! huge agree though - f&c really dropped the ball with the way they handled his character @ the end

i was tagged by @birdie-hop (thank you birdie <3!!!) to do a fun new tag game where you list your favourite musicians and (if you want) explain why you like them so much!
so i feel kind of like a bit of an outsider when it comes to music because i tend to be super particular and i don't actually like a lot of musical artists beyond a song or two. there are a lot of little things that tend to put me off of songs or artists, so when i find one i like i tend to latch on to them with everything i've got. this is going to get really long winded because i have a lot to say about one of these artists in particular (Bowie duh), so fucking feel free to just ignore this!
The Beatles -> let me start with my biggest cringefail flop moment of my whole life. i had sworn to never like this group, i used to make fun of my friends who enjoyed them, and then like the biggest hypocritical asshole of all time i watched the stupid fucking get back documentary and have not recovered since. other than being bewitched by their faggotry and crazy internal dynamics, i genuinely really love their music (that was so painful to type...). i think what i appreciate most is something about their music feels both timeless and yet beyond its time??? and the sheer level of musicianship in their works is mind boggling (like holy fuck not to jerk off paul or anything, but watching him pull that song out of his head in -3 seconds in get back rocked my world). they also just genuinely seem to be having fun (until they weren't) and it comes across in their music. as people they fucking suck ngl, but also that's part of the charm (not john lennon though he has issues i can't see beyond so sorry dude dni on sight buddy) because it just shows that they aren't these giga brain geniuses that are beyond mortal comprehension.
Ryuichi Sakamoto -> not going to lie i got into him by way of watching Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, so that will always add a level of endearment to him as an artist for me. vocally, he isn't the strongest performer, but there is something charming about the sincerity in which he delivers his lines that i appreciate. i love how sakamoto sculps sound, he's so insanely good at cultivating atmosphere especially in his instrumental pieces. the mcml soundtrack is a great example of what he's capable of, and considering he'd never scored a movie prior to that is just insane. his dedication to experimentation and genre hoping is also super admirable, i love that he has experimental sound work but also classical pieces but also 80's poppy numbers. i really appreciate how he incorporates cultural instruments and melodies into his work, modifying them in a way that both retains their significance while allowing room for change. actually here is one of my favourite pieces by him if you want to check it out -> compute, compute, compute
Micky Dolenz -> and like i suppose this also includes the monkees in general, but specifically she is EVERYTHING TO ME!!!! vocally i'm slain every time he opens his mouth, like what a fucking voice and it just keeps going strong. i know every one says this, but micky is truly one of the most underrated vocalists, he deserves so much more recognition for his talent than he has received. also, as a songwriter??? FUCKING WOW!!!! i WISH to GOD he had written more songs, because man oh man the ones he wrote for the monkees are just banger after banger. i think micky's intelligence as a song writer is super insane, his ability to spin a narrative while also handling intense topics all wrapped up in a soft voice that belays the seriousness of the song???? uhm yeah give me more bitch, love that shit. also micky just seems so chill and so kind. not to mention modest; the guy is too modest for his own good, babygirl please you deserve so much more okay??? all in all he seems like the friend that would take you out and get you fucked up beyond belief, but then he'd make you some coffee in the morning, y'know?
David Bowie -> okay, okay, okay, fuck, um he literally means too much to me to even begin to put into coherent words. i've never connected more with a body of work than i have with his music. every facet of his songs -the style, the lyrics, the themes, the sound- speak to me on a visceral level. i still get literal goosebumps listening to certain songs, it's insane how much emotion they inspire in me. he is also the only musical artist where i've listen to his complete discography AND enjoyed most all of it (you don't even understand how HUGE this is for me). As an artist, Bowie is simply unmatched to me; he pushed himself constantly, reinvented himself constantly, tried constantly for his art. that mindset, the desire to push and try new things and not stagnate in the preciousness of your own ego, is something i've tried so hard to incorporate into my own practices. beyond just the music and his art, as a person i've never related more to someone (the good and the bad). so much of my personality has been ripped from and formed by him (that should be embarrassing, and it kind of is, but his mask of confidence and poise has served me soooooo fucking well). Bowie always saw himself as an observer, removed from people, living on the outside looking in on the world and its workings. whether it was a perceived alienation, or a real alienation, or a combination of both, he always felt other. and man oh man if that isn't just the most persistent feeling in my life. anyways to make a long gay story short this dude rules my world and just writing this has me tearing the fuck up <3
okay now that that is done i tag @reignoerme, @sunny-lie-melody, @squeesbysophie, @vintagecocacolainthesun, and @jathis (but only if you want to man!)

White houses by vanessa Carlton for the ask game (its been rotting in the back of my head for days)
I'm using the lyrics with commentary and mild editing to explain why this has actually been about ranchers the whole time
I hope this is comprehensible
Crashed on the floor when I moved in (Tango getting explodificated) This little bungalow (like a ranch?!) alone with some strange new friends Stay up too late, and I'm too thin We promise each other it's til the end ("you will always be my soulmate, my rancher") Now we're spinning empty bottles It's the five of us (this may bring up thoughts of The Southlands but actually "the five of us" is Jimmy, Tango, chickens, cows, and goats/horses) With pretty eyed boys girls die to trust (because when you ally with Jimmy the canary curse gets you) I can't resist the day ((I don't really know what this means)) No, I can't resist the day (Its ranching. They can't resist going outside and ranching)
[The Warden] screams out and it's no pose (Jimmy is in the deep dark getting enchanted) Cause when she dances she goes and goes And beer through the nose on an inside joke And I'm so excited, I haven't spoken (because if he speaks the wardens gonna get him) And [Tango]'s so pretty, and she's so sure (consurened about Jimmy being in the deep dark) Maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her ((this part actually doesn't match well because the ranchers are to silly and oblivious for either one to be more clever than the other) its about Jim surviving the deep dark and proving everyone's worries wrong) The summer's all in bloom The summer is ending soon (Its a death game. they don't have long :( )
It's alright and it's nice not to be so alone (soulmates) But I hold on to your secrets in white houses (the horse that they stole, who is now in the barn)
Maybe I'm a little bit over my head I come undone at the things he said (wow I love my soulmate. Hey what happened to our goats???) And he's so funny in his bright red shirt (like- like the shirt Tango wears?) We were all in love and we all got hurt (The Ranch! D:) I sneak into his car's cracked leather seat ((this part made more sense before I decided to focus on DL setting ranchers, if they're in a modern setting then sure yeah, car, but like this?) leather jacket, i guess) The smell of gasoline in the summer heat (not the ranch!!!!!!!!) Boy, we're going way too fast (they're both so impulsive) It's all too sweet to last (the ranch was too epic and cool so it got burnt down, also ranchers being doomed to die or something)
It's alright And I put myself in his hands (Jimmy stopping Tango from getting unplanned revenge) But I hold on to your secrets in white houses (they still have the horse) Love, or something (revenge!!!!!) ignites in my veins (ignites?! like fire?! like blazeborn!Tango?!) And I pray it never fades in white houses
My first time, hard to explain ("Jolly Ranchers" they get to enchant! yay!) Rush of blood, oh, and a little bit of pain (Oh no! arrows!) On a cloudy day, it's more common than you think (Jim falling off the tower above the velvet keep) He's my first mistake (referencing the creeper death)
Maybe you were all faster than me (contemplation of canary curse) We gave each other up so easily These silly little wounds will never mend (getting attacked by an Enderman) I feel so far from where I've been (dying so far from the ranch :() So I go, and I will not be back here again (They can't return to the ranch because they're dead!) I'm gone as the day is fading on white houses I lie, put my injuries all in the dust (canary curse strikes again) In my heart is the five of us In white houses
And you, maybe you'll remember me What I gave is yours to keep (they're still ranchers) In white houses In white houses In white houses

I figured I’d make a most comprehensive post about the Alola VA, and you know what?  Start with the positives.  Now Sinnoh is no longer the worst Villain Arc.
That's a little unfair, I feel like Hoenn and Unova also kinda sucked overall.  Basically everything since Johto has been so up Giovanni's ass that Sinnoh looks good by comparison solely for actually focusing on its villain instead. The core issue is really Team Rocket.  Well...one of the core issues.  Team Rocket has been overshadowing the other villain teams like every event.  Hoenn barely did squat thanks to the emphasis being placed on what Team Rocket is doing in the shadows, while Alola is hit similarly.  So much of this villain arc's tension comes from the fact that Team Rocket is allying with one of the two factions forming within Aether Paradise.   Which...sure?  They've been in everyone else's business, this wouldn't be so bad.  Except...nothing comes of it.
With Hoenn, at least they establish Team Rocket's plan in the background and that something happened as a result.  What did the current plan actually accomplish?  This feels more like Kalos, only at least this time no one died over Giovanni's failed plan.  They don't actually do anything.   Just like Lusamine and Guzma, who should have been the center of the event.  Lusamine accomplishes nothing.  She sits there and I guess battles a bunch of grunts.  Wow.  Much excite.  Very tension.  Guzma means less than nothing, showing up for like 15 seconds to get a bit of information, and stopping the machine causing problems off-screen.   Literally anyone could've done what he did, and the only reason he showed up at all was compulsory cameo.  It's a complete waste of these characters.  Their own villain arc, and they somehow out irrelevanced Maxie and Archie.  Mind-blowing.
But I can't pin it all on Team Rocket, because the other culprits are the Tapu Quartet.  This is exactly why I didn't want the Tapu to be the center; they have no place here.  Think about this: from the perspective of the Tapu Quartet, what happened?  Oh shit, Ultra Beasts!  Better appear out of nowhere and side with these kids that have a vague connection to us!  Now we're gonna battle to protect this island and oh hey the wormholes stopped.  Whew.  Glad that problem resolved itself.
If Lusamine and Guzma are irrelevant, I can't think of anything more extreme to accuse the Tapu Quartet of being, despite them actually being worse.  They have literally no reason to take up as much time as they do, aside from the fact this is a gacha, and their presentation is to sell the sync pairs.  I legitimately hate it.  Take out everything to do with the tapu, and we'd have a lot more time to focus on the aspects that matter, like Lusamine's handling of the company schism, or Guzma's reasons for being involved at all, or what Giovanni actually hoped to accomplish, or the Interpol Trio getting to interact literally at all.   We get the barest minimum information about Anabel drawing the attention of the beasts, and one shot of the trio posing, and that's it.  It's lame.
Alola VA has been hit by far the hardest by the issues plaguing the whole villain arc series.  Giovanni and Team Rocket are given disproportionate attention.  The Villains that aren't Giovanni get sidelined super hard, or rendered borderline useless.  The arc exists more to establish sync pairs to sell you than to create a meaningful narrative.  The roster of significant characters is outpacing their ability to focus, as they split between the villains, the protagonists, now random side characters as the sync pairs, and Interpol.  There's too much going on to keep every VA the same length and expect event time, and the further in we go the worse it seems to be getting.
I have zero hope for Galar's VA being interesting at this point.

When ET calls, can we be sure we're not being spoofed?
New SETI technique filters out Earth interference to focus on extraterrestrial signals only
Scientists have devised a new technique for finding and vetting possible radio signals from other civilizations in our galaxy — a major advance in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) that will significantly boost confidence in any future detection of alien life.
Most of today's SETI searches are conducted by Earth-based radio telescopes, which means that any ground or satellite radio interference — ranging from Starlink satellites to cellphones, microwaves and even car engines — can produce a radio blip that mimics a technosignature of a civilization outside our solar system. Such false alarms have raised and then dashed hopes since the first dedicated SETI program began in 1960.
Currently, researchers vet these signals by pointing the telescope in a different place in the sky, then return a few times to the spot where the signal was originally detected to confirm it wasn't a one-off. Even then, the signal could be something weird produced on Earth.
The new technique, developed by researchers at the Breakthrough Listen project at the University of California, Berkeley, checks for evidence that the signal has actually passed through interstellar space, eliminating the possibility that the signal is mere radio interference from Earth.
Breakthrough Listen, the most comprehensive SETI search anywhere, monitors the northern and southern skies with radio telescopes in search of technosignatures. It also targets thousands of individual stars in the plane of the Milky Way galaxy, which is the likely direction a civilization would beam a signal, with a particular focus on the center of the galaxy.
"I think it's one of the biggest advances in radio SETI in a long time," said Andrew Siemion, principal investigator for Breakthrough Listen and director of the Berkeley SETI Research Center (BSRC), which operates the world's longest running SETI program. "It's the first time where we have a technique that, if we just have one signal, potentially could allow us to intrinsically differentiate it from radio frequency interference. That's pretty amazing, because if you consider something like the Wow! signal, these are often a one-off."
Siemion was referring to a famed 72-second narrowband signal observed in 1977 by a radio telescope in Ohio. The astronomer who discovered the signal, which looked like nothing produced by normal astrophysical processes, wrote "Wow!" in red ink on the data printout. The signal has not been observed since.
"The first ET detection may very well be a one-off, where we only see one signal," Siemion said. "And if a signal doesn't repeat, there's not a lot that we can say about that. And obviously, the most likely explanation for it is radio frequency interference, as is the most likely explanation for the Wow! signal. Having this new technique and the instrumentation capable of recording data at sufficient fidelity such that you could see the effect of the interstellar medium, or ISM, is incredibly powerful."
The technique is described in a paper appearing today in The Astrophysical Journal by UC Berkeley graduate student Bryan Brzycki; Siemion; Brzycki's thesis adviser Imke de Pater, UC Berkeley professor emeritus of astronomy; and colleagues at Cornell University and the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California.
Siemion noted that, in the future, Breakthrough Listen will be employing the so-called scintillation technique, along with sky location, during its SETI observations, including with the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia — the world’s largest steerable radio telescope — and the MeerKAT array in South Africa.
Distinguishing a signal from ET
For more than 60 years, SETI researchers have scanned the skies in search of signals that look different from the typical radio emissions of stars and cataclysmic events, such as supernovas. One key distinction is that natural cosmic sources of radio waves produce a broad range of wavelengths — that is, broadband radio waves — whereas technical civilizations, like our own, produce narrowband radio signals. Think radio static versus a tuned-in FM station.
Because of the huge background of narrowband radio bursts from human activity on Earth, finding a signal from outer space is like looking for a needle in a haystack. So far, no narrowband radio signals from outside our solar system have been confirmed, though Breakthrough Listen found one interesting candidate — dubbed BLC1 — in 2020. Later analysis determined that it was almost certainly due to radio interference, Siemion said.
Siemion and his colleagues realized, however, that real signals from extraterrestrial civilizations should exhibit features caused by passage through the ISM that could help discriminate between Earth- and space-based radio signals. Thanks to past research describing how the cold plasma in the interstellar medium, primarily free electrons, affect signals from radio sources such as pulsars, astronomers now have a good idea how the ISM affects narrowband radio signals. Such signals tend to rise and fall in amplitude over time — that is, they scintillate. This is because the signals are slightly refracted, or bent, by the intervening cold plasma, so that when the radio waves eventually reach Earth by different paths, the waves interfere, both positively and negatively.
Our atmosphere produces a similar scintillation, or twinkle, that affects the pinprick of optical light from a star. Planets, which are not point sources of light, do not twinkle.
Brzycki developed a computer algorithm, available as a Python script, that analyzes the scintillation of narrowband signals and plucks out those that dim and brighten over periods of less than a minute, indicating they've passed through the ISM.
"This implies that we could use a suitably tuned pipeline to unambiguously identify artificial emission from distant sources vis-a-vis terrestrial interference," de Pater said. "Further, even if we didn’t use this technique to find a signal, this technique could, in certain cases, confirm a signal originating from a distant source, rather than locally. This work represents the first new method of signal confirmation beyond the spatial reobservation filter in the history of radio SETI."
Brzycki is now conducting radio observations at the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia to show that the technique can quickly weed out Earth-based radio signals and perhaps even detect scintillation in a narrowband signal — a technosignature candidate.
"Maybe we can identify this effect within individual observations and see that attenuation and brightening and actually say that the signal is undergoing that effect," he said. "It's another tool that we have available now."
The technique will be useful only for signals that originate more than about 10,000 light years from Earth, since a signal must travel through enough of the ISM to exhibit detectable scintillation. Anything originating nearby — the BLC-1 signal, for example, seemed to be coming from our nearest star, Proxima Centauri — would not exhibit this effect.
Other co-authors of the paper are James Cordes of Cornell, Brian Lacki of BSRC and Vishal Gajjar and Sofia Sheikh of both BSRC and the SETI Institute. Breakthrough Listen is managed by the Breakthrough Initiatives, a program sponsored by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation.

The list you’re using is pretty dang comprehensive, I love it! It even has pretty extensive Kid Loki information! It looks like it only goes up to 2020, though! I don’t know exactly everywhere everyone else can be found after 2020, but I have some additions! For Kate there’s Hawkeye: Kate Bishop (2021), for Noh-Varr he’s in Guardians of the Galaxy (2020) (which I recommend even if you don’t care about Noh-Varr, like just on its own merit), Billy and Teddy are in Marvel’s Voices: Pride, and the Hulkling & Wiccan Infinity Comic and according to the Marvel Wiki they’re also in #25-30 of the Love Unlimited Infinity Comic (side note the Wiki could be useful to use for finding individual one off appearances!), America’s (unfortunately) got America Chavez: Made in the USA, Thunderbolts, and Defenders: Beyond, Prodigy/David was a main character in X-Factor (2020) but also since he was returned to the X-Men sphere with the invention of Krakoa he pops up in appearances in a number of other X titles so if you’re interested in that I’d look for some kind of list or check his appearances on the Wiki for which issues (also I just wanna say I love Prodigy?? If you’re at all interested in reading anything else with Prodigy from before he joins the Young Avengers, he debuts in New Mutants (2003) and his “generation” take center stage in New X-Men (2003), I love the kids in his X-Men “generation” and could not express how much I feel they are worth getting to know even though they’ve sadly been sidelined in more recent years as more and more X teens and young adults have been introduced and spotlighted— sorry I have too many feelings about this), Eli shows up in Black Panther (2018?) #23-25 (I checked the wiki because i thought i remembered something about this, not sure how significant his role is), and Tommy shows up in X-Factor (2020) #7 and #10, then he and Billy also were in X-Men: The Trial of Magneto, Who Is… The Scarlet Witch Infinity Comic, and Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic #9! Wow that was long, sorry! I’m probably missing stuff but I hope I hit the important ones!
Oh wow thank you! I’m probably gonna like make a google slides or something to track the comics for the characters 🤔

literally just found you today thru those rants and 100%. ive talked about it with friends but we keep it to ourselves bc fandombrained people are so vitriolic & reactionary but you get it. fandoms as they are now are simply a function of capitalism and i wouldnt even say most are fans of the media they say they are but of the roving dudeslash fandom who NEED to see characters forced into their static cookiecutter trope pairing/mirroring themselves and fuckin or theyll die. fandoms in general also tend to be a cesspit of racism & terrible attitudes towards sex work despite their fascination with/fetishization of both race and sex work in general and its like the smaller the fandom is the more of a toxic microcosm of let people haaaaave funnnnn it becomes (idk why i wrote this i was just super surprised to see another mbd fan who was also a sex worker, hiii same hat i am waving to you from across the street)
i went off about this in a mutual's personal server even more than i posted/ranted about here on tumblr because it really pisses me off, especially when you visit low-rating reviews of any mbd book, extra especially fugitive telemetry (like "how Dare this author whose work i love give me a novella after a full-length novel release?!" it's so fucking ungrateful! and it demonstrates such a disgusting lack of basic reading comprehension).
here's one review i saw posted the month i picked up the book and happened to be using goodreads to track my progress at the time, for example:
Tumblr media
out of ideas?! it's one of the more tonally different stories in the series. when i finished the book for myself, i came back to this review and i just did not know how someone could ever say something like this. did we even read the same book?! is she "out of ideas" or did she give people another short-form story that was packed with concise and exacting language, tackling a multifaceted web of brand new interactions that make murderbot's personhood that much more dimensional, and they turned their nose up at it because "ugh 🙄 why can't we just have more full-length novels full of stuff that i can pretend is evidence of my fantasy OTP ship being canon"? the idea that a story is "low-effort" to "produce" simply because it's short is such a fucking insult to writers who know anything about writing, especially short-form masters like martha wells. these books are raw concentrated emotion.
to use a food comparison, because i've been getting emotional about the bear recently, it's like comparing a family/holiday feast to an 8-course meal from a star-ranked restaurant. they are both incredibly valuable, in different ways. the novellas are basically 'the perfect bite', they are incredibly well-written, they're rounded stories about rounded characters. intricate, delicate, plated to perfection, and at the end you realize that you've had enough of these small courses (chapters) that it's like. wow, you realize how fulfilled you are; every 'level' engaged is maxed out... and a feast made to feed an entire family like the full-length novel(s) (since the next book is a full-length novel, too) is hearty, it's quantity from a quality-minded author, it's nourishing, it's fulfilling, it's going to get a lot of mileage from every character included. these are different experiences prepared by the same chef. trust that she's going to treat you well. you know?
but you don't let diners into the kitchen to make changes to the food everyone else is going to eat. i might be going a little far with the metaphor but i swear to fucking god if tor.com does the fanservice shit to mbd i'm going to lose my fucking mind.
but again. i have faith in martha wells, i have hope and i know she would never do that to us.
edit: oh my god where are my manners HI FELLOW SEX WORKER WHO LOVES THE MUDERBOT DIARIES! THANK YOU! HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL DAY!

WOW........its so uncommon for me to be so brim full of anger and fear...lulu cheng meservey and every single person that enabled the drone advertisement campaign above new york city does not deserve a days rest until they learn to live as human beings & respect life and the world around them or until they die.......i believe if i saw even for a few moments an advertisement in the sky i would drop my bags and shrug off my coat in the winter night and i would scream i would yell and scream so loudly i do not care how public or populated my surroundings are i would scream until my lungs gave up and tears started streaming and i had no voice left inside of me at all and i would do this every time that i would see it even if it meant every single evening...my heart is full of hot tears and i feelso enraged but so defeated, and i feel so much sorrow for the photo of all of the little birdies overflowing from two cupped hands that died migrating across new york city on an october evening this year because of the light pollution, and the way their wings seem so tight against their little bodies, and knowing the candy crush sky ad was directly obstructing a migratory path for birds this time of year it just oh my heart....this manmade terror is so beyond the comprehension of all the little lives that were lost and all of the little lives that had to move on from the deceased ones as nature entails and so so so so so violent against the natural world and the value of the privilege of living.capitalism and the monstrosities it has created are all disgusting sores on this planet sucking the lifeblood out of every living thing leaving the earth devoid of hope as the world becomes nothing more than a collection of exploitable resources leaving the exploited lives exhausted and sick and injured forever from the labour and objectification and degradation capitalism defines them by.please let there be a sweet bird song and a sun in the sky.............. if i have no environment no night sky or blackberries or bird nests i have nothing i am nothing at all
