I am begging anet to release a unified strike hub. Or let us join any strike from any existing hub if we own the expansion they’re from. OR just stick a portal for them in the aerodrome.

Right now if I want to do SotO, IBS and EoD strikes I have to go to the 3 most distant corners of the map, the waypoints being 11 silver each time. And I know there are portal scrolls but I do strikes on essentially all my characters and that’d take up 3 of my 4 inventory slots. It’s also inconvenient having to wait the loading times, especially if your internet is wobbly and the whole squad is waiting on you.

Like, it’s not the biggest issue, but it is increasingly frustrating and if we go somewhere completely new in the next expac and get new strikes it’ll just feel even worse.

I’ll confess I'm an odd duck who actually prefers what Chibs did with Tegan and Nyssa to any ‘actually they’re wives’ ending, no matter how cute I find that idea.

A) It feels real - the old companions don't have space-time travel access, that’s the point, it’s why they all have so much unresolved trauma because so many parts couldn’t be directly addressed, Tegan wouldn't have seen Nyssa again. That’s a fairytale ‘winning lottery ticket’ ending that no one in the real world gets, and I generally prefer realism in my stories (though no shame to those who don’t).

But also because B) That makes her perfect to help Yaz, I think by very deliberate design. Tegan also lost her alien not-girlfriend. It probably took her a long time — or more likely implied to be never, with multiple failing heterosexual marriages — to process that. And here is Yaz is in such a similar position.

It gives her the chance for Tegan to support Yaz in not making the same mistakes she did, and in the process, maybe resolve her own feelings, which might not be so easy given the time she was raised in. And here is Yaz, who also didn’t know that what she was actually feeling was love, not friendship, for the longest time. Perhaps may not have even really examined her sexuality particularly prior to that, and while that’s far easier for a woman who grew up in a time where being gay is far less of an issue, she’s a muslim, she’s not ignorant to homophobia, and would certainly understand someone finding that difficult, if like her they’d never noticed, or perhaps not wanted to notice, the difference in those feelings for this person in particular.

They are both incredibly complementary to helping each other heal.

Which is what this has always all been about - healing. And it never being too late to.

I know it’s not as nice a story, but I think it’s a better story.

I'm curious. what job would you do if money was no object (you just automatically had an income you could live comfortably on)? including work like volunteering, studying etc. please share in the tags :)

#under this premise part time work is valid too!#personally i think i'd probably study. maybe do another masters maybe part time across two years this time #if i were to do a job job i think i'd try out working in a library (ideally an academic library). which would technically be more studying #since i'd need to get a library qualification first #i'm just very curious what people would choose if it was purely a choice of what appeals to you over the practicality/necessity #talking

tumblr blackout proposal

tumblr mobile has steadily become near unusable these past few updates. not just from a user experience perspective (which is important enough in itself) but also from an accessibility perspective.

examples include the new way the image viewer works (if you can call it "working"), the tumblr live button replacing the profile button, and that newly created blogs will be forced to have their main dashboard tab be the 'for you' page.

the demands of the protest would be along the lines of:

reverse the recent image viewer update

scrap the new users 'for you' page default setting

let us turn off tumblr live indefinitely

increase efforts against spam / porn bots

make reporting abuse and hate speech as easy as reporting as reporting spam

let us go nuts show nuts again... for real this time

remove flashing ads, including not accepting blaze campaigns for posts with flashing in them

commit to improving usability and accessibility, and listening to users!

(suggestions welcome!)

to protest against these usability issues, and inspired by the recent reddit blackout, i propose a 48 hour blackout (where you don't use tumblr at all). preferably of both mobile and web (since web has problems too) but mobile is the focus here.

[edit: a 'blackout' is when you don't log in, or interact with the site at all, for [x] amount of time.]

I suggest from the 30th of June.

this marks the end of pride month (for the "queerest place on the internet") and the start of disability month (since accessibility is a massive issue here).

tumblr office is in San Francisco, USA, so the times and dates will be calculated using their time zone (PDT).

i can't afford to blaze this post so please spread it around as much as possible! protests only work if significant numbers show up!

edit: tumblr rejected the blaze campaigns for this post because they know it would hurt them. let's make this an indefinite blackout - it's the best way to get results.

Lived through my emergency mouth surgery!

Lightly terrorized the medical staff by cheerfully telling them ketamine is a drug you can literally physically outrun before surgery, then getting up and walking to the front room unassisted way before I should have afterwards.

this is not me trying to defend nintendo's business practices or say that either of these games don't have flaws, but I think a lot of the comparisons people are making between breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom are a little unfair and don't really take into account that they are different games with different purposes.

"breath of the wild feels so empty compared to tears of the kingdom" ... yeah? with breath of the wild, one of the game's main themes was isolation. you wake up in the future far after the apocalypse you were trying to prevent has already settled. you have no memories, very little strength. just like hyrule, just like zelda, all you have is your will to continue. breath of the wild is the quiet moments, the secret spaces, the weight of the world that has continued to turn without you still resting on your shoulders.

tears of the kingdom is not like that. hyrule is no longer the wild. it is no longer quiet and lonely. there's community. every sidequest is intertwined. your friends fight alongside you. this isn't "fixing" breath of the wild, this is it's natural continuation. as time goes on the world continues to heal and rebuild. if breath of the wild was clawing hope, tears of the kingdom is direct action.

like yeah there are things tears is doing better and (imo) things breath of the wild did better. but i don't think either one is a replacement for the other.
