Puoi vivere ogni paese e ogni realtà che ti circonda come semplice turista, guardando solo la parte bella ma in parte artefatta di ogni luogo, oppure puoi scegliere una via ancora migliore, ancora più gratificante, ovvero cercare di essere una fonte di aiuto per gli altri, per quelle persone che purtroppo vivono nella realtà più scomoda, quella parte che da normali turisti non riusciamo a vedere.

Ecco perchè oggi voglio raccontarvi la storia di Sita, una donna che dimostra l'esistenza e la forza di coloro che possiedono un cuore puro, un'anima grande, una donna coraggiosa che ha dovuto affrontare sfide assai difficili nella vita, lei è una testimonianza di quella parte di mondo che non si può vedere con gli occhi del semplice turista, ma solamente prestando ascolto con il cuore.

Non sentirete parlare di lei sui giornali o su qualche TV come per i personaggi pubblici, nonostante questo la sua vita il più grande esempio di cosa voglia dire vivere per il bene degli altri, di cosa voglia dire "seguire il proprio cuore".

The sweated industries consisted of piecework carried out in small workshops with low pay, poor conditions and long hours. Homeworking, one type of 'sweating', offered the worst conditions and pay for such tasks as sewing (see The Fashion for Shopping), making boxes, or wire brushes. Surveys found women often working from dawn until 11pm for less than a living wage in the same room with their children. The women chainmakers had one of the worst sweated jobs, working in sheds in the backyards of their homes hammering out chainlinks for 5s (25p) for a 50-hour week. CRISPR changing the world

CRISPR-Cas9 is a revolutionary technology which allows DNA sequences to be edited. There have been multiple previous attempts of gene editing made before CRISPR-Cas9, ”Technologies for making and manipulating DNA have enabled many of the advances in biology over the past 60 years. This era began with the discovery of the DNA double helix and continued with the development of chemical methods for solid-phase DNA synthesis, enabling detection and exploration of genome organization” (Charpentier and Doudna 1)The competing gene editing technologies, largely rely on the type of gene modification required making it not as effective in  widespread use. CRISPR has been the most influential development in recent years because it is faster, more accurate, and cheaper than the other various methods, therefore making it more accessible in the future. The CRISPR method was invented by two women, Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna ,who have since won a Nobel Peace Prize for the development.

CRISPR stands for Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats. The CRISPR Cas9 technology works through either modifying, inserting, or deleting DNA sequences. Cas9 protein is an enzyme that works by cutting into foreign DNA, eliminating that target DNA from the sequence. The seemingly complicated process is actually fairly simple to understand, “The dual tracrRNA:crRNA was engineered as a single guide RNA (sgRNA) that retains two critical features: a sequence at the 5 side that determines the DNA target site by Watson-Crick base-pairing and a duplex RNA structure at the 3 side that binds to Cas9. This finding created a simple two-component system in which changes in the guide sequence of the sgRNA program Cas9 to target any DNA sequence “(Charpentier and Doudna 1) put simply, this works sort of like cut and paste except for something much more intricate. The DNA template is now inserted into the sequence therefore now repairing and modifying the DNA. The modified DNA is now changed and the organism will no longer have the eliminated traits.

The possibilities with the CRISPR Cas9 method are endless in medicine. We are able to genetically modify human DNA which was once thought of as science fiction. By modifying DNA we are able to potentially use CRISPR as a treatment in medicine, ”This Review illustrates the power of the technology to systematically analyze gene functions in mammalian cells, study genomic rearrangements and the progression of cancers or other diseases, and potentially correct genetic mutations responsible for inherited disorder” (Charpentier and Doudna 1)This is one of the biggest breakthroughs in modern medical history allowing the potential for many diseases to be eradicated, and may in fact become a viable treatment for cancer . One of the other diseases and abnormalities where the CRISPR method is able to go in and fix is Alzheimer's.

A century before, women were thought to be incapable of having careers, however now with the help of Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna, modern medicine has the potential to be completely transformed for the better. With more research over the years, humans have the potential to live longer and healthier lives free of disease.
