Note
In your last post you said about Klaus getting turned on by watching the reader eat?
Could we have more on/about that in a separate one-shot if you have the time? 💕
One More Bite -Klaus M.
Tumblr media
I combined this request with another one I had gotten in my PM’s for Klaus’ mate giving him a blowjob when he’s in his wolf form, so fair warning on that.
If that is something that the original requester isn’t okay with and you don’t want to read this, send me another request and I’ll write something else for you as I understand you may not want to read something like this because it’s for such a specific kind of reader I assume (even though I am one of those readers).
Warning: Severe Warning on this fic! This fic contains Smut while our favorite Hybrid is in his wolf form! Blow-Job warning! Klaus becoming aroused by watching his Mate eat food. Also brief mentions of a school shooting when talking about the Scream movie series.
Sitophilia: Arousal involving food

Dead Dove:Do Not Eat!
Tumblr media
Klaus has no clue where it came from.
It started when he was in Alarics body in the lunch room, watching over his Doppelgänger and her friends was proving entertaining to him…until he saw her. Y/n was a friend of theirs that didn’t seem to be all that involved in their Supernatural affairs, blatantly ignoring them as they spoke about the immortal Hybrid that sat 2 tables away possessing their History teacher.
She was a beautiful girl, one of the sweetest the 1000 year old man had ever seen, he swore it was true with how kind and naive she seemed to be. Klaus felt the need to protect her and ensure her safety, swearing to himself he would leave her out of all of this but just as he was about to leave the lunchroom he found himself captivated by her once more. It took a bit too long to notice that he was staring at the girl as she ate her lunch.
Klaus had never really been fascinated by watching someone eat before and it was an odd thought all together, but he couldn’t deny his enjoyment at watching her…he also couldn’t deny the raging erection in his pants that he willed away as strongly as he could as he wasn’t in his pants or his body and he was Not dealing with that!
He had gone to the front office later that day, finding her file and reading as much about her as he could. Her name was Y/F/n, she was on the honor roll with mostly all A’s and a few B’s, he found her address as well as the fact that she is emancipated and living in that apartment alone. He looked more into that, finding out that her parents had died a few months prior (when Damon had released the tomb vampires) and she lived on money they left as well as what she made working in a movie theater in the next town.
He found himself hating the idea of his girl being forced to work a job on top of going to school and getting amazing grades, only to come home to an apartment all alone with no family and no real friends as that Scooby Gang doesn’t seem to be very close with her. Klaus can’t explain his feelings, his attraction, or why he wants to take care of her so badly but he knows he doesn’t want her working this hard so that she can be all alone and in pain.
Tumblr media
Klaus ditched Alarics body as soon as he was able and while his witches were dealing with the things he needed for his curse, he made his way to the next town and into the little movie theater. He walked into the theater and up to the snack counter where she was sat, reading something on her phone before jumping up as she saw him.
‘Good afternoon sir, what can I get for you to make your movie experience better?’ She asked, a smile on her face as if anyone could enjoy this job everyday. He hated seeing the dark circles under her eyes that she tried to cover with makeup, he wanted to see her in a comfortable bed, sleeping as much as she needed, wanted to watch her enjoy breakfast in bed with the knowledge that she didn’t have to go to work or school or do anything other than be with him. He found himself staring down at her as he imagined feeding her that breakfast while his cock was still buried deep inside of her cu- ‘Sir?’
‘Sorry, lost in thought there.’ He chuckled and she did as well.
‘I do it all the time, no worries. Can I get you something to eat?’ He looked as if he was considering it before responding.
‘Actually, I would love to get you something to eat.’ She looked up at him confused and he thought it was adorable. ‘Would you like to see a movie with me?’ She was shocked by this, clearly, and didn’t respond very quickly. ‘What time do you get done?’ He asked as if he didn’t know it was in 5 minutes.
‘Oh, I’m done in about 5 minutes. I have to get home and study for a test though-‘
‘Aw, let yourself relax a bit. Let me treat you to a movie, you can get whatever you want to eat, and you can pick the movie.’ The blush that spread over her face was adorable and he loved every second of it.
‘Really? Even if I pick a chick flick?’ He nodded, seeing a coworker walking out to take over her shift. ‘Okay, I want to see 5 Nights at Freddy’s…let me go get changed.’ Her smile lit up Klaus’ whole world and he smiled as he watched her walk away, her cute little ass nearly on display in the short skirt she had to wear as a uniform. Klaus only waited about 5 minutes for her to return after getting the tickets (and experiencing the man’s shocked face as he bought all the tickets in the entire theater so that they would be alone), wearing a dark tank top and fluffy pajama pants. ‘Sorry about the clothes, I was prepared to go home and get in bed.’ She explained but he waved her off.
‘Not a problem, next time I’ll wear pajamas too. I’m Nik, by the way.’ He teased, seeing her eyes light up at the idea of a second date.
‘Y/n, nice to meet you Nik.’
‘Alright, what do you want to eat?’ This was a dine-in theater, and while Klaus remembered when theaters sold popcorn, soda and candy exclusively, he found himself happy about the idea of providing his girl a good meal and getting to watch her eat it.
‘Oh, I’ll just get a small popcorn-‘
‘You just got off work, you must be hungry. Please let me get you a meal? Anything you want, if you don’t choose I’ll choose for you and I’ll be forced to feed it to you.’ He teased, wrapping his arm around her waist to test the water of how she felt about him touching her and to his surprise she leaned into his side, allowing his hand to stay on her waist. She was attracted to him too, he could practically smell it, and it made the Hybrid truly happy to know that his girl at least liked him as well.
‘Fine, okay. Hey Kyle, can I get an order of cheese fries, please?’
‘And?’ She shot him a teasing glare before rolling her eyes.
‘And a large order of chicken tenders with extra honey mustard. And since we’re bending this guys wallet, I’ll also have a large chocolate brownie milkshake-with extra chocolate sauce…I hope you like chocolate cause I won’t drink all of that, it’s huge.’ Klaus just grinned as he handed over his card. ‘Wait! You’re not getting anything?’
‘A bucket of popcorn too, please?’ He ordered and she stared at him as he paid for the wildly overpriced food. He carried the popcorn, allowing her to drizzle butter all over it along with salt before they went and found their seats, a girl bringing Y/n’s food about 10 minutes later just as the movie started.
‘I can’t believe there’s no one else in here, especially this late.’
‘Is this a popular movie?’ He asked, genuinely having no idea what it’s about. Klaus hadn’t come here with any intention of watching a movie, he just wanted to be with his girl so to him, the movie didn’t make one single fucking difference.
‘Oh yeah, it’s based on a horror game that I loved, plus Matthew Lillard is in this so I want to see it desperately. People really believe that his character is just Stu from the Original Scream a few years after he “died”. Which he 100% didn’t by the way.’ He could see how sure she was of this and enjoyed her dedicated belief to a movie she clearly loved.
‘How are you so sure he lived?’ He wondered and she turned her body to him more, ready to explain her theory.
‘Okay, so he was supposed to be the killer in the third scream movie! He was cast and everything but they had to scrap the whole plot. It was going to be based on a school shooting but that was right as Columbine happened so they changed the whole movie. Respect for them not doing that, 100%, but it proves that canonically he is absolutely alive. I don’t really get the connection to this movie, but if people believe it then why not?’ He nodded along, enjoying himself as much she seemed to enjoy these horror plots.
‘You’re a horror movie girl, aren’t you?’
‘Yup. Which is weird cause I used to be terrified of all scary movies but now I love them. We should have a horror movie marathon, clearly you haven’t seen the Scream movies and if you haven’t seen them, what else haven’t you seen?!’
‘Most of them, I’m not much of a TV watcher. I mostly just paint in my free time, I’ve seen a few though. The one in the mask who tries to kill his sister.’
‘Michael Myers, Halloween.’ She said, instantly knowing what he was talking about.
‘The Hick who has a chainsaw and wears people’s faces?’
‘Leatherface, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’
‘The demon people, one of them has pins all over his head?’
‘Pinhead, HellRaiser. Truly an amazing movie, probably one of my favorite plot lines.’ He was amazed at how she knew every one of these from just the simple descriptions, he knew they were probably popular but it was so cute how sure and excited she was.
‘And the guy with knives for hands.’ Her eyebrows raised as he said this.
‘I’m going to assume you mean Freddy Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street as we’re talking about horror movies and not Edward Scissorhands which is a sad movie that ripped my soul from my body. It a great movie but it’s sad as hell. Why are people so mean to everyone just because they’re different?’ He shrugged at this.
‘People will always judge what they don’t understand, especially when it’s other people. It’s always been that way.’ He knew from personal experience and Y/n seemed to hear the emotion in his voice because she reached over and took his hand in hers.
‘People suck. Cheese fry?’ She offered, holding out the box and he took one, watching as she bit into a couple as the lights went down. He was thankful for his vampire vision as he leaned back into the seat and kept his eyes on her. She was fascinated by the movie but he was fascinated by her. Klaus watched as she ate, finally getting to watch her eat a meal that wasn’t a snack in a cafeteria. The idea that he had provided his girl food, a real meal (for seemingly the first time since he first saw her 3 days ago) was satisfying to say the least. He stared as she ate her fries, her tongue peeking out every now and again to lick the cheese from her lips, causing his cock to twitch every single time. The moan that came from her as she first bit into a piece of chicken had him fully hard and completely desperate, watching as her tongue licked the honey mustard from her finger, her lips wrapping around her thumb and sucking on it with a “pop” as she pulled it from her mouth. He was so lost in his thoughts as he watched her perfect little mouth, he didn’t even hear the words that came from it. ‘Nik? You okay?’
‘Hmm? Yes! Of course, I’m great…you’re so damn gorgeous, and it’s distracting.’ Her cheeks turned red as he said this and she couldn’t hide it from him.
‘You are really sweet…please tell me this isn’t some kind of weird joke.’ As she said this his mind was ripped from his fantasies, confused as to why she would think something like that.
‘What? That’s crazy, why would you-‘
‘You walked into a movie theater without a ticket, came up to the food counter and asked me out to then buy a ticket and buy me dinner. You’re either the oddest and luckiest man in the world considering I was finished my shift when you came in, or this was planned and someone put you up to it…I’m an 18 year old girl in high school on a date with a hot dude in his 20’s…you can at least imagine why I’m a bit skeptical?’ She looked sad and he hated that he had caused it…why is this girl getting to him like this?!
‘I’m sorry that you feel the need to be skeptical of someone asking you out. I admit, I planned to ask you on a date. I saw you yesterday and I thought you were lovely so I decided to ask you out, I thought taking you to a movie after work would be a nice idea, I also thought you would enjoy relaxing and watching a movie right after your shift-‘ A look of guilt overtook her eyes as she realized how much thought he put into asking her on this date and she felt horrible instantly.
‘Oh God…I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m a bitch! I-‘
‘No you’re not, relax love. It’s okay, I can see why you were questioning the situation. I want to take you out again, I enjoy you already and I admittedly enjoy feeding you.’ Her eyes widened a bit but she couldn’t turn more red than she already was.
‘Oh…okay? I-I can honestly say I haven’t heard that one before but it sounds nice to me.’ She joked as he reached out, picking up a French fry and feeding it to her, grunting as she wrapped her lips around the tip of his thumb to get the melted cheese off of his skin, taking her time a bit too much as she did this and Klaus couldn’t hold in his groan.
‘Christ Y/n, you’re going to be the death of me.’
Through the rest of their date Klaus enjoyed feeding his girl nearly all of the food he had bought her, her insisting he at least have some as well and he brought her home that night, pressing his lips to hers sweetly and deciding he liked that his girl blushed 90% of their time together.
Tumblr media
It was 3 days later that he found out why he was so desperate for this girl more than any other in his entire lifetime.
They had been texting almost all day every day along with him visiting her daily, Klaus getting everything ready to break his curse and actually getting it done with some help from his annoying elder brother (after he tried to murder him) before running off into the forest, his wolf determined to get where he needed to be.
It was the first time in 1000 years that Klaus could hear his wolf in his head the way other werewolves could. In the almost month he had been a Hybrid 1000 years ago he had gotten used to him being there and the curse had taken that from him.
As his paws slammed against the dirt, sprinting through the forest Klaus couldn’t help but wonder where they were going and he quickly got his answer.
“Mate!” The voice he had so sorely missed, growled roughly.
“Mate?” He wondered, having heard the term before but knowing that werewolves finding their mates was extremely rare. Maybe because they were so far out of time if Klaus’ mate being alive 1000 years after his human life was an indication. “Y/n is my mate…no wonder I’m so drawn to her!” A happy feeling was bubbling up in his chest as he realized he had finally found his mate, something he had hoped could exist for him since he found out soulmates were real for wolves.
“Need Mate! Need Mate Now!” The aggressive growl was almost concerning to him as his paws slowed to a trot when he arrived at the home he had been visiting his girl in for the last few days.
“She’s going to be scared! We can’t let her see us-Stop!” He snapped, feeling stupid that he was literally shouting at himself.
“Mate Knows! Mate Not Stupid!” His wolf snarled, sounding offended by the idea that she didn’t know who he was. He scratched at the apartment door and Klaus tried to control his body, to run back into the trees and away from her when the door swung open and his Mate looked down at him in shock.
‘I have to be honest, didn’t see this coming Nik. I mean I got the whole “Nik-Klaus” thing, Elijah told us all your real name but…what exactly do you want me to do with this?’ She asked, clearly entertained by him showing up in his wolf form. He whined, scratching at the doorframe which made her chuckle. ‘Okay, you can come in Niklaus-oh, okay.’ He walked into her apartment before she was even done speaking, hopping up onto the couch and staring up at her as if waiting for something to happen. ‘I seriously thought your interest in me was a joke when I realized who you were. Damon was making fun of me for falling for it…you’re actually into me, aren’t you? Cause I figure you being here right now means either you really like me or you plan to rip me to shreds in my own home. Which is it?’ She asked him and Klaus rolled his eyes, laying his head onto her lap when she sat down beside him on the couch. ‘Oh…good…I could get used to this.’
For the rest of the evening Klaus lounged on Y/n’s couch with her, watching horror movies from the extensive list that she had made of “Horror Movies Nik Needs to Watch”. He also enjoyed once again watching as she ate her dinner, or his personal favorite, watching her eat a pint of ice cream. God, he wants her tongue on his cock so badly, which she noticed as it was on display and larger than one would expect. To her credit, she ignored it for quite a long time, pretending it wasn’t there until the voice in his head made it physically impossible any longer. He was talking about all the different ways he wanted to bend her over and fuck her tight little cunt until she was begging him to stop, practically drooling over how her tongue peeked out and licked the ice cream off of the spoon, desperate to watch her lick his cream off of his hard cock which is around the time his member began leaking onto the blanket underneath him on the couch.
‘Nik?’ She questioned and he lifted his head from her lap to look up at her, as if pretending he hadn’t been staring at her this whole time. ‘Do you need help?’ He tilted his head as if asking her what she meant…she couldn’t possibly mean- ‘Do you need help with your…problem? It’s distracting and it seems to be getting worse.’
At this moment Klaus is happy that he is not just a vampire, but also in his wolf form and unable to show her how embarrassed he is with a look on (what would now be) his completely red face. He couldn’t stop the slight whine that escaped him before jumping down from the couch and trotting over to the door, scratching the wood and waiting for her to release him. “Let Mate Help!” That aggressive voice piped up again and he tried to shove it back down.
‘I didn’t mean I wanted you to leave, I…I mean if you wanted me to, I…it would have to be really fucking private, I mean if you ever told anyone I would skin you alive!’
Klaus suddenly felt his tail come to life, wagging around behind him like crazy as he released a small “yip” sound, moving back over and hopping up onto the couch again, nuzzling his nose against her cheek.
‘Ahh! It’s cold and wet!’ She was giggling and it was a sound that Klaus knew he adored from the moment he first heard it in the schools cafeteria. ‘I hope you realize that when you’re human again, I want an explanation as to why watching me eat gets you so worked up.’ She teased, moving from the couch to her knees. ‘Are all wolves cocks this big, or is it a werewolf thing?’
“Perfect Mate! Pretty, Perfect Mate! Need to Fuck Mate!” Klaus shook his head quickly as that thought came from nowhere, trying to keep his wolf from controlling anything else when suddenly his cock was enveloped into her hot mouth causing the pathetic sounding whine that exited him.
Her lips were stretched wide around his thick member as he now leaned back against the couch, wanting desperately to hold onto her hair but knowing that he can’t. He settled for one paw resting on the back of her head and couldn’t hold back the growl that burst from his chest, her tongue trailing over the head of his cock which nearly made him finish laughably fast.
You could have never convinced Klaus that this would be something that he wanted, in 1000 years the thought had crossed his mind, of course, but it wasn’t something that really got him off until now. Now, rutting into his mate was all he could think about like it was playing on a constant loop in his mind. As he looked down and saw her on her knees in front of him a content purr built up in his chest. He didn’t know how deeply he had longed for his mate, maybe if his wolf hadn’t been bound from him, he would have.
His thoughts were cut off by the choking noise that came from her as his large cock hit the back of her throat. “Perfect Mate! Perfect Little Tongue!” The growl that exploded from him made her eyes widen in fear before he was cumming in ropes into her mouth, her hand coming up to catch what leaked from her lips.
‘Fuck!’ She cursed after swallowing everything he had to give and looking up at him, as if an innocent little virgin who hadn’t just sucked his wolf cock into next year. ‘Do all werewolves cum that much?’ She giggled and he whined in response, leaning forward and licking her face. ‘I’m not doing that again until you prove how good you are in bed as a man first.’ She was teasing him but he nipped at her throat, catching the skin and watching a drop of blood rise to the surface. ‘Ow…shouldn’t you be out slaughtering innocent humans right now?’ He shook his head, which he’s sure looked like a dog shaking off the water after being in the rain. ‘But that’s what you were going to do before finding me?’ He didn’t respond to this, simply moving to lay down across her lap as she sat back on the couch. ‘It’s okay, I’ll still be here when you’re human again, go.’ He peeked up at her, from this angle the light made her look like an Angel sent from Heaven, as if a gift just for his devilish soul.
“Stay Close! Never Leave Mate! Never Again!” He really hopes that once he fucks his mate and makes her his that his wolf will calm down about her, he may be right but he’s intense.
‘Go Nik, I’ll be right here when you get back, I promise. I have nothing to do tomorrow, I will stay until you come and get me. When you do we’ll order take out and you can stare at me while I eat it.’ He sat up, making a questioning noise that he honestly didn’t know he could make. ‘I Promise.’ She insisted, jumping up and opening the back door towards the woods. ‘I won’t leave, I won’t open the door for anyone either. Get, before you get needier and decide to hump me in my sleep.’ He did as she said, leaving out the back door and taking one final look at her before he was gone, running through the woods as he had always longed for, every day of his immortal life since it was snatched away from him and for the first time in his very long life, knowing that he had someone to come back to.

Elijah Mikealson x oc
Author’s note: I refuse to believe none of the fully grown Mikealson children were not married. Basically me fixing that.
Tumblr media
Klaus’ POV
A raven’s cry pierces the humid air of the compound’s courtyard and I watch my brother wince at the sound. It is the smallest fraction of a second of weakness from the noble Original. Hailey, who was sipping her coffee in the chair across from Elijah, doesn’t even notice and continues with her story. “Jackson has been going on and on about this beignet place that Mary loves. He wants to bring Hope to get her first real beignet, does anyone want to -KRAA! ” Elijah abruptly stands and stalks out of the compound.
Dumbfounded, Hailey turns to me, “What the hell was that?” she asks.
“Our dear Elijah doesn’t like ravens,” Rebekah responds.
Sliding into the spot Elijah previously occupied, “I would argue he quite loves ravens, sister. They just keep flying away from him” Grinning at Rebekah, who pours herself a coffee and settles beside Hailey. “Little Wolf, I believe it would be in your best interest to let Elijah have his moment. He will be fine tomorrow. ” The wolf nods in response before picking up Hope. I wave at my little girl as she coos at me on her way out.
“You should not be so cruel to Elijah, you know the pain he feels.” Rebekah leans forward, her elbows resting on her knees, “ We will never understand what Esther took from him, the life he had.” She stops at the sound of dress shoes on the cobblestone.
“It has been a over a century Rebekah. The squawking disrupted my silence, much like you and Niklaus are.” With that, my brother walks up the stairs into his study. As he passes me, I see that the cuff of his sleeve has been pulled and torn. The look on my sister’s face tells me she saw it too. Regardless, we let him go. There is nothing we can do for him, not for this. As if to mock us, the damned bird release another cry, but this one is different, it’s unnatural. In a moment, my siblings and I are in the street, all looking at the tree the raven had been sitting in. The branch now sat empty, the street below covered in black feathers forming a large Norse rune.
Elijah POV
A century, I spent a century destroying everything with that symbol. I burned the hut and threw my sword into the nearest river. Yet here it appears, a taunt in front of my home. The first place I called home since the hut so many years ago. Spinning on my heels, I return to the courtyard with Niklaus and Rebekah in tow. Throwing my jacket on a chair, “FREYA! Sister, we need you! ” A crash is heard from Freya’s room and the witch emerges in her pyjamas with her hair every which way. A small brunette slips out behind her, shoes in hand with hair covering her face. “Can I not get 24 uninterrupted hours of peace in this damned family?”
“Apologies my dear, but there is something you must see,” I practically drag her out the door to the tree. “ While you were having your time off, a raven cried three times and left this for us. No bird could lose this many feathers and fly away. Something is wrong, someone has done this” My grip on her arm tighten with every word. I feel Niklaus’ hand on my arm and I release Freya.  “I’m sorry, Freya, I must go”  Hailey rushes out with Hope in arm, Jackson on her heels. I move away, hearing Hailey ask the meaning of the rune. Niklaus is the one to answer her, “That is the Norse rune for love. You see that the loop within the larger one? That is not suppose to be there, it is unique to one pair of wedding rings. ” Staring at the rune, Hailey asks “Only one pair? Whose?”
“Elijah’s.”

The Girl in the Forest
Chapter 17: All I Want To Do
// Story Masterlist //
Fandom: The Originals
Pairings: Klaus Mikaelson x Original Female Character
Pronunciation of OC’s name: Ma-leh-nee
Requested tag: @queenmj10

Chapter Summary: Maleny makes a visit to Esther and discovers who exactly owns her corpse. In return, Esther makes Maleny a tempting offer...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cami was returning to Elijah's room when she found Klaus inside, apparently making Elijah worsen by the spasm state was under. She'd taken care of him for one entire day while the Original was outcold from Esther's spells. She really hoped he would wake up on his own but seeing as it was morning, she doubted it would be happening.
"What are you doing!?" she angrily rushed up to Klaus, pulling him away.
Klaus was irritated his plan hadn't worked and that Cami interrupted him, "I was trying to enter Elijah's thoughts to wake him," he wiped the blood oozing from his nose due to the attempt with a sigh, "Esther's locked me out."
"What is this exactly?" Cami moved past him for Elijah, seeing a flower petal-shaped wound on his neck, "I've been meaning to ask but seeing as you and Mal were busy yesterday...is it like some side effect from what Esther did to him?"
Hearing that, Klaus frowned and went to have a look for himself, "I haven't seen this since I was a child. Mikael would return home from battle more blindly temperamental than usual, and our mother would use the petals of a rare merlock orchid to put him to sleep. She would mend his mind with a spell, and then wake him with the roots of the same plant."
That sparked hope in both vampires.
"So if she used these flowers or things, it means it has to grow in Bayou," Cami quickly said, "Which means we have to go get them!"
"I will do it," Klaus stopped her before she took a step forwards, "You need to stay here and look after him, got it?" Cami nodded and so he headed out of the room.
Maleny was just coming in when she saw him leaving, "Klaus, hold on," she called and hurried after him.
"What is it, Mal?" he turned to face her, trying his best not so sound as impatient as he was, "I have some collecting to do."
"Collecting?" Maleny made a face, "Like what?"
"Orchids, they're for Elijah so you can see my urgency."
"Yeah, yeah," Maleny said, sounding disappointed enough for him to notice.
"What is it?" he asked again, softer now.
Immediately Maleny knew this was not the time to tell him the important thing she'd been trying to for some time now. She went with the plausible excuse she came up with just before coming to find him, "Never mind, I wanted to say thanks for my new jacket. I didn't see when you bought it, though..."
"You're welcome," Klaus smiled, at least something (or more specifically someone) was good in the terrible moments they were so commonly in.
"And listen, um...when we help Elijah...um...I would really like it if we got a chance to talk," Maleny fiddled with her fingers, "I mean, if you have time, you know..."
Klaus smiled at her so clear nervousness. He wondered what that was about but he remembered he was in a hurry to leave, "After I get back and Elijah gets the orchids, I promise you I'm all yours," and this time Klaus really couldn't hold back one of his smirks from his choice of words.
Maleny blushed and looked to the side, "Stop it," she mumbled her scold, "And just go!" she shooed him off before he said something else.
As Klaus went down the staircase Maleny went to the banister to see him go. He turned to look up at her with a mock-warning face, "And you best stay in here, Mal."
Maleny rested her arms over the banister and slyly smiled at him, "I think we both know that's never gonna happen."
"One day it's going to work!"
"But not today," Maleny then motioned for him to get going, biting back a laugh as he rolled his eyes and went on his way. Once he was gone, her smile vanished and whirled around, heading straight for Elijah's room where Cami was still tending after him, "Alright, so, if anyone asks I've been in here all day...with you."
Cami confusedly glanced at the blonde witch, "I'm sorry? What?"
Maleny sighed, knowing Cami wasn't quite there with everything that was going on and so explained slower, "I have to go see Esther today and I doubt Klaus is going to be happy about that if he hears of it. Leaving it out for Hayley and Elijah is visibly included, you know."
"Mal, are you crazy?" Cami completely faced Maleny, her face scrunched up in confusion, "Why would you literally got into the wolf's cave after what she did to her own son?" she gestured to Elijah.
"She didn't kill him," Maleny pointed out with no sarcasm intended, "she only subdued him. Look, Esther doesn't want to kill us - she wants to 'save' us in her own delusional mind. That's my advantage. I just want to talk to her."
"What about?" Cami still couldn't finish understanding on what grounds did Maleny think it was a good idea to go see the crazy ole witch.
"I want my corpse back," Maleny announced firmly, "and she has it."
"You're not 100% sure!"
"99.9% might as well be," Maleny started backtracking towards the door, "Soo...if Hayley comes around, you tell her I'm...with Amarrah or something. Can I count on you?"
Cami sighed, "Yeah, whatever. But please try to be careful."
"I will be, and take good care of my big brother, okay?" Maleny glanced at Elijah, "Though I think he has the world's best little nurse looking after him," she smirked and Cami blushed.
"Mal!"
"Bye!" Maleny waved and hurried off, laughing to herself.

To say Amarrah was surprised to have Hayley and Aiden standing at her door would be an understatement. But even then her manners didn't fail her and she allowed the two wolves in, "What can I do for you?" she closed the door after them, "It's Hayley, right?" she pointed at the brunette woman.
"Yeah," Hayley bit her lower lip, sensing the woman's confusion, "I know it's weird I'm here, but we kind of need your help."
"Again? What's it this time?"
"Remember Finn?"
"Oh," Amarrah chuckled, "do I? What do I have to do this time?"
"We want to take him down," Aiden announced, momentarily surprising Amarrah. The dark-haired woman crossed her arms, waiting for more details on the plan.
"We're gonna get more people in this but we really need your help," Hayley said, "I know you barely know me but-"
"You're part of Mal's family so I'll definitely help if I can," Amarrah smiled.
"Thanks," Hayley honestly said, smiling back, "But one more thing, can you not tell Maleny of this? If she gets into this and Klaus finds out, he may just kill me."
Amarrah chuckled and agreed, "My lips are sealed. I don't think she should be included in this anyways."
"Thank you," Hayley looked at Aiden, agreeing it was time to go see Marcel, "So you want to come with us?" she then asked Amarrah, "We're seeing the last missing piece of our plan."
"Definitely, I'll go give Finn a call and see if he wants to go have some 'dinner' with me," Amarrah nodded and went to gather her things meanwhile Hayley and Aiden waited.
"You sure this is a good idea?" Aiden asked Hayley quietly after the witch had left the room.
"Absolutely," Hayley crossed her arms, a deep frown forming across her lips. Esther had been responsible for Ollie's death and she was intending on using all her strategies to bring her down - she was going to take everything Esther held so dear.

"Knock, knock," Gia feigned a knock on Elijah's bedroom door and smiled at Cami, holding out two blood bags in her hands. Cami looked over and smiled, "I thought you could use a friend?"
"I could, I really could," Cami sighed as Gia walked over and hugged her.
"So," Gia pulled away and looked at Elijah, making a face at the state the man was in, "how's he doing?"
"Not good," Cami shook her head, "We need some orchids to break the dream-state Esther induced but Klaus went to go look for them."
"And your cousin?" Gia looked around, "I didn't see nor sense her when I came in."
"She's, um...off doing her own thing," Cami said for a lack of a better word, "But you? What are you doing here?"
"Like I said, I thought you could use a friend," Gia gave a shrug and half of a smirk, "while you wait for your boyfriend to wake up."
"Can we not, please?" Cami nearly begged for the topic to be erased from all memory, "I just want him to wake up. I'm not wishing for anything the others aren't."
All Gia did was give another smirk look as she went around the room, "Nice place, you thinking of moving in?" she then corrected herself, "I meant back in the building," she motioned with a finger, "Not...not in here, but...if you wanted to do that too-"
"Gia!" Cami, exasperated, turned away to put the blood bag down on the night stand, figuring Elijah would need it more than she would when he woke up.
Gia laughed, "Alright, I'm done for now. But seriously, are you going to move back in here?"
"I...don't know," Cami admitted as she turned back to her friend, "I haven't really thought about it - hadn't had time, actually. I talked with Hayley and she made me see things I hadn't before."
"So that's a 'yes'...?"
"I don't know," Cami reiterated, her eyes drifting to Elijah, "Right now, I just want him to wake up. I'll figure it out later."
She felt guilty she hadn't even spoken to Maleny on the subject, she hadn't even mentioned anything of going back to school! There was plenty Maleny had missed and while Gia was a fantastic friend, Cami yearned to speak to her cousin like old times. Perhaps after this they would finally get the time.

Finn walked into the greenhouse where his mother had just finished a rather harsh spell to get Kol to return to the Quarter, The boy had been MIA for some time now.
"Amarrah has called me in," Finn said in confusion, "I didn't think she'd take a liking to me so early."
"Nonetheless, the witch has perfect timing," Esther put down some utensils and picked up herbs instead, "It's ideal. Everything is finally falling into place so it's time to bring her in," she handed him the bundle of herbs, "Here. I've spelled this to subdue her without causing bodily harm."
Finn felt uncomfortable with the idea, thinking Amarrah really wouldn't need it, "I thought we had more time..." he mumbled.
"We don't," Esther sharply looked at him, "Once Klaus has been duly influenced by his father, we will need to act quickly."
"No, there's no need for this," Finn pushed the herbs from him, earning a look from his mother.
"Do not forget the witch knows Maleny and at any time she can discover your real identity."
"I know, but...I don't think she knows yet," Finn assured, "I can bring her in without her even realizing it."
"I trust you know what you're doing, Finn," warned Esther, not about to let him muck up the plan.
"I do, mother," Finn raised his hands as he backtracked out of the room, nearly bumping into Maleny on his way out.
"Watch where you're going," the blonde snapped as she entered the room, immediately earning a stunned look from Esther, "Surprised to see me?"
"A pleasant surprise," Esther started smiling, "Come in, Maleny," she motioned, "I trust you have thought about the offer?"
"Yeah, and I speak on behalf of myself, Cami and Hayley: no," Maleny walked further into the room, ignoring the frown on Esther's face, "I'm here for something different."
"Like what?"
"We can start with the fact you have my previous corpse and I'd like it back," Maleny put on a wide grin for the woman, "Like now."
"I...I don't know what you're talking about," Esther went around her table, her hands picking up different herbs and utensils.
"Seriously?" Maleny stared at her wearily, "We're gonna do the whole thing where you pretend you don't know what I'm talking about until I finally hammer you down? I'm mortal, my breath is precious so please don't waste it."
Esther deeply sighed and turned to face the blonde, "I do have it and no you can't take it."
"It's mine, Esther. Give it back so I can finally end my curse."
"You won't be able to do it on your own, child," Esther nearly scoffed at the idea, "You need an immense source of power to end the curse. You would need a witch as powerful as me."
"Which I can get on my own," Maleny gritted her teeth, "Not from you. Don't you get it, Esther? I hate you. I despise you. If I could, I'd push you down a cliff," she made a pushing gesture for show.
"Your sarcasm has never amused me more," Esther gave a smile, "but you will reconsider my offer after Klaus is influenced by his father."
Maleny blinked, "Excuse me?"
"Oh, has he not mentioned it to you?" Esther raised an eyebrow, "I brought Klaus' biological father back from the dead. In fact, I believe right now he's having a word with Klaus somewhere in the bayou."
"If he does anything to hurt him-"
"Oh please," Esther rolled her eyes, "Out of anyone I think the least one concerned with harming Klaus is his father. I brought him back so that Klaus has an actual chance of having a real father at his side."
Maleny stared at Esther until her mind frazzled, "What's wrong with you? I don't...I don't understand anything," she shook her head, "Why - why would you bring him back? What is the point here?"
"Maleny, just like I can help you stay in this body forever," Esther pointed at the blonde, "I can place Niklaus into a werewolf's body so that he can live out as what he truly is."
"Right," Maleny nodded, "at which point I assume Klaus laughed in your face after hearing this. I know he wouldn't accept."
"You would reject him?" Esther challenged, taking Maleny by surprise.
"Are you insane? Oh wait you are," Maleny shook her head, "Let me remind you that when I fell in love with your son he was human, a werewolf-in-waiting. I don't care what he chooses to be. I just happen to know he wouldn't choose this - especially coming from your hands."
"But what if he did?" Esther pressed, genuinely curious of the girl's response.
"If he did, I wouldn't agree with it," Maleny shrugged, "But I wouldn't reject him for it," she leaned forwards on the table, "I'm not Mikael."
"Maleny, you're making a mistake, let me help you with this curse," Esther went for the blonde around the table.
"I don't want your help, I want you to give me my corpse back!" Maleny rose her volume, her anger only just able to simmer down, "What part of that isn't getting through your thick head?"
Esther straightened up, clearly angry by the rejection, "You will come begging me to help you-"
"I really doubt that," the blonde raised a hand to stop Esther from continuing, "Why would I want your help when you subdued your own son to some nightmare state?"
"I did that so Elijah could see he needed to be saved," Esther snapped, not about to have her questioning her mothering skills.
"So he's killed people, but let's all remember who tried killing their own kids," Maleny gestured to Esther, "I tell you, you and Mikael definitely win parents of the year. I mean, to want to kill your own granddaughter? That's a new one."
"I had no choice," Esther defensively said, "If I didn't there would be great consequences."
"Like what? Ooh, a little girl gets to live," Maleny sarcastically shook her hands, "Scary."
"Maleny, there are things you don't understand, things that none of you understand. Do not forget I lost my own child as well."
"Freya, yeah, Mikael spoke about her right before he wanted to kill me," Maleny rolled her eyes, "I tell you, she's better off dead than being here in this messed up family."
"Be quiet!" Esther snapped and slapped Maleny across the face, leaving both equally stunned.
"Did you just…?" Maleny put a hand over her cheek, her mouth half-open in shock, "Did you just hit me?"
Esther, though clearly regretting it, did not back down, "Yes, because you don't know what happened, alright? You will never understand what I had to do because you are not a mother."
"Thank God or not they'd be hunted down by their deranged grandmother," Maleny then blinked as she realized what her statement implied, "Don't even say anything."
Esther still smirked at the blonde and returned to the table, "It's clear your affections for my son have not lessened. Don't you see, Maleny, I only want to reunite this family and therefore allowing you and Klaus to live a life with children of your own."
"It's too late for that," Maleny declared grimly, lowering her hand from her face, "There was a time where that could've happened, but you ruined it."
"You and I did, let's not forget," Esther snapped.
"Under lies," Maleny immediately reminded the woman, "You tricked me. You took my powers and you used it to hurt your own children. Had my mother been alive, I'm sure she would've killed you for what you did to me."
"I am truly sorry for what happened with your powers," Esther sighed, looking more or less honest, "I didn't know to what degree the spell would affect either of us. Your power was young and raw - it didn't stand a chance to be quite honest."
"And even after then, you refused to turn me," Maleny spat, "You had condemned me to love someone that would eventually outlive me and bury me. That was cruel - even by your standards."
"I couldn't turn you Maleny," Esther shook her head, "Niklaus had very mixed emotions about that and I...I figured I had done enough."
"And look where that got us, huh? You and I, standing here," Maleny shook her head, "I think the only thing I would identify with you is how crazy our lives are. Other than that, you and I are nothing alike despite being witches of the same village."
"Then accept my offer as my apology," Esther motioned as if it were a simple deed, "I am trying to even out the horrible differences between you and my son. Together, as mortals, how does that sound?"
Before Maleny could answer, a frustrated Kol entered the room, "Remind me to teach you how to send a text message!" he told Esther before seeing Maleny, "Mal! Hey-" Maleny was in no mood for the young Mikaelson and with a balled fist caused a small infliction of pain in the head, "So," Kol rubbed his head after the pain faded, "Not happy to see me, then?"
"Well, seeing as you didn't care your deranged father kidnapped me I don't see why I should be happy you're back," Maleny crossed her arms.
"Right, about that, I'm sorry," Kol raised his hands to show he came in peace, "But I had bigger things than-"
"My life?" Maleny raised an eyebrow, "Right, gotcha. I'll be sure to remember that when you're being killed by either your mother, father or siblings."
"Mal, you know I love you, but...if I don't do what mother dearest," Kol nodded over to Esther, "I get killed too."
Maleny shook her head, unable to take more of them, "Forget this, I'm leaving. Oh, and Esther?" she stopped by the threshold to look back, "I will get my corpse one way or another. I make that a solemn swear."

In Marcel's loft, Hayley, Aiden, Josh, Marcel himself, and Amarrah were all gathered up outlining their plan to capture Finn. There was a map of the Quarter placed on a table between them as they discussed the details.
"So, Finn said he wanted to meet at Preservation Hall," Amarrah reviewed the setting, "But, I doubt he'll be unprotected."
Aiden agreed and pointed out several different areas on the map, "There will be wolves positioned here and here."
Marcel pointed to one spot that hadn't been touched, "Can we keep this alley open?"
"Alright, I'll wait there and rip Vincent's head off," Hayley announced cheerfully, but the darkness lacing her words made the others exchange looks.
"No, he'll only body-jump and it'll become much harder to get him," Amarrah pointed out, making the brunette roll her eyes, "Surprise is kind of all we have here. We don't want to waste it."
"Then what do we do with him?" Josh inquired curiously, "Big bad warlock like that isn't gonna stay put."
Hayley considered the problem before coming up with an idea, thanking Maleny silently in her head, "I know something we can use. We'll just have to ask Cami or Mal first."
"Weren't you the one that said not to include Maleny in this," Amarrah crossed her arms, "I haven't met Klaus but I do like having my heart here," she patted a hand over her chest.
"As do I," Hayley agreed, "But Cami's taking care of Elijah and I doubt she'll want to leave him."
"What exactly are we going to risk her life for?" Aiden asked.
"Maleny and Cami happen to own a couple of, um...shackles, that can be used against witches. It stops them from doing magic."
"That sounds like it could be a lot of help," Marcel looked at Hayley, making it all rely on her, "But it's your call."
Hayley sighed deeply, "And I'm gonna hate hearing Klaus' scolds but this has to be done."

Later that night, Finn and Amarrah got together at the Preservation Hall that was under the loud influence of a jazz band. Finn returned to Amarrah at their table holding two beers for themselves.
"Thanks," Amarrah took the beer and looked around, "This is amazing!" she truthfully remarked at the big crowd that surrounded them. It was something she'd never seen before living her family's ranch.
"I developed an appreciation for the music after I moved here. I never had a taste for it before," Finn looked at the dancing crowd across them, more or less interested.
Amarrah watched him take a drink of beer and made a face, making her laugh, "Hm, I see you're still developing your taste for beer. My mother used to scold me all the time because it was unlady-like so I snuck it in with my cousins. What about you, though? Snobby mom? Distant dad? Spill!"
"Well," Finn straightened up, "my mother and I are quite close. She made so many sacrifices for us. Now, anything she asks seems negligible in comparison."
Amarrah nearly scoffed after learning everything about Esther. The man really was blind to the monster his mother had become. Thankfully, her cellphone went off and so she didn't have to fake an answer, "I'm so sorry," she put her beer on the table and got up, "It's my mom wanting to see how I'm doing. I haven't called her since I got here, sorry. I'll be right back," she promised and hurried off to go 'answer'.
Finn watched her go to the end of the room, near the entrance as she answered the phone. Suddenly, a man blocked the view of the woman and when he left Finn saw Amarrah was gone! Slightly worried, Finn stood up and went outside to look for her. As soon as he walked out, he heard screams that belonged to Amarrah. He ran down into an alley and found her on the ground, being attacked by someone wearing a hoodie. Sensing him, the attacker turned and displayed bright, golden eyes from under their hood. The attacker leaped onto the roof of the next building and disappeared.
Finn hurried towards Amarrah and helped her up. At the sound of a whistler, he turned again and saw the attacker staring him down. After he/she disappeared, Finn returned their attention on Amarrah...but she was gone.

Hayley and Amarrah were sat at the sacristy of St. Ann's, awaiting to see if their plan against Finn had been successful. Amarrah was putting away her cellphone when Hayley handed her a cusp full of her blood.
"It's Maleny," Amarrah chuckled at the antics of her good friend, taking the cusp from Hayley.
"Checking up on you?" assumed Hayley.
"Asking a dozen questions to see how it all turned out," Amarrah nodded, "She's pissed we didn't let her help."
It was Hayley's turn to chuckle, "Just give her a quick summary - I don't need her showing up and getting hurt."
Amarrah drank from the cusp when Aiden came over with Josh, "Well, Finn bought it. His locator spell will bring him here without the bodyguards."
"Well, it's time to put one hell of a show," Amarrah rose to her feet and handed the cusp back to Hayley, "Seriously never thought I'd get into this type of problem."
"Welcome to the Quarter," Hayley patted Amarrah's back and the two shared another laugh before getting back to work.
An hour later, Finn showed up at the alley near the church where Aiden awaited him, "I staked it out. It looks like a couple of Oliver's friends wanting to avenge his death," Aiden explained the 'situation'.
"Where's Amarrah?" Finn demanded.
"She's, uh, she's tied up near the altar. Hey, you bee-line for her, I'll handle the rest of them, alright?"
But before Aiden could turn to go, Finn stopped him, "Aiden? Your brother was among the recruits that Oliver rescued, was he not?" Aiden immediately knew the plan had been thwarted and next thing he knew was thrown the doors of the church.
Aiden ended up thrown across the aisle, knocked out from such a blow. Josh, intending on helping, sped for Aiden but was stopped by Finn who violently lighted all the candles in the church and snapped Josh's neck.
"Amarrah?" Finn called for the woman as he continued down the aisle, "AMARRAH!"
Hayley sped up behind him and tackled him to the floor, "First, I'm going to kick your ass. Then, I'm going to take my pack back," Hayley explained while struggling to keep Finn still.
"Your pack?" Finn had a good laugh, "Last I checked, your pack was blindly following me."
Hayley raised an eyebrow, "You wanna talk about following? How do your mother's boots taste?" she then kicked the man in the face, busting his lip, but not even that broke his spirit.
"What have you done with Amarrah?"
It was Hayley's turn to laugh. For such a smart, powerful warlock he didn't seem to catch on very quick.
Finn telekinetically threw her away and quickly got up, "Hybrids die by losing their head or their heart. And, given the choice, I'm going to take the organ that got you into this mess in the first place," with a spell, he started working at Hayley's hand, "Le specto tre colo ves bestia! Le specto tre colo ves bestia!"
Hayley started spitting blood as she felt a terrible pain in her chest. Her blouse became stained with blood as the heart itself was being pulled out. Suddenly, Jackson appeared at the second floor, holding a bow and arrow which he used on Finn. The man fell back with a bow lodged on him and before he could do anything else, Amarrah showed up and slammed the shackles onto his wrists.
At the stunned face, Amarrah remarked, "Did you really think I'm that naive not to know who you were?"
Finn tried using a spell but realized the shackles were canceling out his magic. Behind them, Jackson rushed to Hayley and helped her up, "Are you okay?"
"Your timing was pretty awesome, actually," Hayley chuckled, relieved she was still with life.
"I know this is totally inappropriate," Amarrah interrupted and turned to them, eyeing the unconscious Aiden and Josh on the side, "but that was a lot of fun."
"Around here, it's just daily life," Hayley gave a shrug then glared at Finn, "I think it's time for a family reunion."
Finn rolled his eyes, he would've warned them it wasn't the last fight they would fight but he figured they would learn it soon. Esther would realize his capture and would retaliate in a harsher way.

"Okay, what are you doing?" Cami stepped into Maleny's room to find the blonde standing over a small trash bin that was burning something - papers. Maleny was changed into sleeping clothes, wearing a loose pink robe over and slippers.
Maleny turned to the vampire with a wicked smile as she waved her old journal, "I'm burning a book, duh. I can't stand seeing this journal with my memories that I may or may not end up forgetting again."
"So your decision was to burn it? Why didn't you just throw it away?"
"Because I want to see them burn," Maleny threw the cover and back of the journal into the bin, letting the flames consume it along with the other pages, "More effective."
Cami eyebrows raised in surprise, "For a minute there, you sounded like Klaus."
Maleny laughed and glanced at the fire. She began putting it out once she papers had turned into ash, "Centuries, Cami, remember? Things rub off."
Cami leaned back into the hallway to see if Klaus was coming but she saw Elijah's door stilled closed. She then walked inside and closed the door, "Mal, how'd things go with Esther?"
"Em, I hate her. She's still offering me to help with the body - which she admitted to having."
"So you were right," Cami's eyes widened, "What are you going to do, then?"
"I have to tell Klaus, first of all, and then we have to get Esther to hand it over," Maleny sighed, still wondering just how that would happen.
"That's not gonna be easy, especially considering what you just helped Hayley do with Finn."
"Finn had it coming for trying to use Amarrah like that," Maleny waved the topic off, more irritated than angry with that fact. Did they really think they could use Amarrah for God knows what when Amarrah was her friend?
"Still, it's just gonna make things more difficult," Cami sighed and turned to leave when Maleny called for her.
"Cami, now that we know Elijah's going to be good again...are you going to leave again?" it appeared Maleny had become nervous when asking but it was really worrying that Cami would get up and leave once more. That wasn't what Maleny pictured when she'd returned to New Orleans.
"Mal, I didn't mean to leave like I did the first time. I was just going through some stuff and I thought things that weren't true."
"Like what?" Maleny frowned.
"Well, I thought that there was no place here for me," Cami hugged herself, feeling awkward.
"Why would you think that?" Maleny stepped forwards, "You're my cousin, you're-"
"Not actually related to you," Cami pointed out, "Our memories are false, they never existed. C'mon, Mal, you know sooner or later it's going to be you and Klaus. Hayley will always be part of this family because of Hope. But me?"
"What about Elijah?" Maleny raised an eyebrow, "Because I know he's taken a liking to you."
"We have fun together, we play chess and we talk, but…"
"Camille O'Connell, I never want to hear that you are not part of this family," Maleny announced and walked over to the blonde vampire, hugging her tight, "We all love you here so please tell me you're moving back in because I'll lose it if you don't - I promise."
Cami pulled away and chuckled, "Okay, but only because you'd lose it."
"Yeah, okay," Maleny playfully rolled her eyes and stepped back, "And you're going to tell me all about going back to school too," she warned, "because I know you're back and you're going to graduate by the end of the year. Gia told me that before leaving."
"If I stay on track which to be honest I'm not doing very well," Cami admitted to Maleny afterwards she hadn't attended classes in the days Elijah had been gone, which only added more coursework to the previous ones she still hadn't finished.
"We'll make you a study time," Maleny declared, "Yeah, I can do that for you."
There was a knock on the door that ended the conversation. Cami wasted no time in rushing for it and was a little disappointed to see only Klaus on the other side.
"How is he?" she asked quietly.
"Awake, and getting better," Klaus answered, slightly amused, "You might want to give him a chance to be 'presentable'," he rolled his eyes at the very first request Elijah had made after waking.
"Yeah, okay, fine," and Cami pushed past him, not about to waste any minutes standing there.
Maleny chuckled at her cousin and clapped her hands, "So I'm definitely going to start teasing about that in a couple of days," she awaited for some type of remark from Klaus but the hybrid remained at her doorway, looking grim, "This is sort of the part where you defend your brother from me…" she said slowly but only received a look.
"Mal, I know I promised you we would get to talk earlier but do you mind if I tell you something first?"
Maleny nodded, seeing the graveness in his face was more than usual, "What's going on?"
"I...saw my father today, my biological father," Klaus looked to the side, unable to face her just yet. By doing so, he missed the unsurprised look on Maleny's face, "Esther brought him back from the dead, believing he could convince me to renounce vampirism. The thought of what I could be, had I been raised by him...had I been nurtured...it's a difficult thing to, um..."
"I think you would have been filled with far more love," Maleny quietly remarked, "Not to say that you aren't now-" but Klaus scoffed, making it known he clearly disagreed.
He closed the door and walked further into her room, "Come now, Maleny, you and I both know this would have changed me completely," he turned to face in her direction, the blonde still by the door and watching in silence, "Perhaps even our dynamic would've been different."
"How so?" Maleny crossed her arms, confused for a minute, "Back then, we didn't really have problems beside me asking you to turn me. We were completely fine, Klaus - as an 'us'. The one that suffered was you."
"Which I sometimes took out on you," Klaus pointed out what he believed Maleny was keen on forgetting.
Maleny's eyes lowered, "You just shouted, but you always came back to me and we were better. I appreciate your concern but the reality here is you're only trying to push away the real changes your father could've enacted if you were with him."
Klaus pulled out a small notebook from his pocket, glancing to the trash bin whose flames was slowly dying down. Maleny hurried over to kill the fire, giving Klaus a sheepish smile, "Sorry, I was doing a thing…"
Klaus handed her his father's notebook, for once Maleny's antics not enough to make him feel better, "This was his."
Maleny slowly took the notebook from him and opened it opened it up to skin its pages, "Now we know where your artistic skills come from," she remarked upon finding a sketch of Klaus as a child.
"He knew about Hope," Klaus said quietly and earned wide eyes from Maleny, "I wanted to trust him more than anything in the world. I- I wanted to, but…"
Maleny closed the notebook as Klaus trailed off, sensing something horrible was coming.
"I couldn't be sure. And, I would never forgive myself if something happened to her because of my selfish desire for a father. So, I killed him. Without hesitation. I killed him."
Maleny's eyes widened once more, "Oh Klaus…" there were truly no words she could say to make him feel better, nor to make anything better, "You killed him for Hope?" she gave him back the notebook before hugging him.
Klaus hugged her back, reveling in moments like those where it felt as if time hadn't passed between them and it was just them, in their forest, together. He pulled away from her minutes later, managing to keep tears in and only display glossy eyes, "Wasn't there something you wanted to talk about earlier?"
Maleny studied him for a minute and placed her hands on either side of his face, "It's not important right now," she whispered.
"Are you sure?"
"Another time," Maleny smiled for him and took his hand. For a split moment she wondered if it was best to just get the bad news of Esther possessing her corpse out of the way. But the more she took in his practically heartbroken expression, the idea was thrown out the window, "Maybe you should rest," she suggested instead, "I doubt that going on a rescue mission for me and your brother hasn't allowed you much rest. That's probably even bound to make you more cranky. And for you, that's saying something."
That one made Klaus smile a little, "Mal, do you ever stop being so sarcastic and-"
"I wasn't being sarcastic - that was a true statement!" she laughed and pulled him into the hallway, "But no matter, I tend to always make you feel better."
"That you did," Klaus agreed and let her lead them up to his bedroom, "...always..."
"Just relax already, Klaus," Maleny repeated herself for the millionth time - or so she counted silently. She was focused on her nearly finished flower crown but occasionally she would glance over to Klaus to see how he was doing.
They were in a secluded area of their beloved forest - one that Klaus had found long ago just for them. Maleny sat over a cushiony flower bed with Klaus laying beside her. His eyes were closed but Maleny could see the stress still etched over his features.
"I thought it would be a good idea to come here, but I suppose I was wrong," Maleny feigned a sigh, watching from the corner of her eye Klaus open his eyes.
"Maleny, it's not your fault," Klaus sat upright, "I always have problems with my father..."
"And I should be able to help you," Maleny became serious again, "But I cannot do so if you do not allow me to..."
"It's not exactly easy..." Klaus trailed off when Maleny put her finished flower crown on top of his head.
Maleny laughed and reached to fix it, "There, see? You're not bad looking if you just fix yourself up a little."
"Oh?" Klaus pretended to be offended by the statement, "Is that the case? But I thought you were madly in love with me?"
"I am," Maleny grinned at him, "but you do have some flaws...like your temper. Oh, and then your over-protectiveness. Oh! Let's not forget your jealousy scenes..."
"Mal," Klaus gave her a look.
"But the one I actually dislike..." Maleny leaned forwards, her voice lowering to a whisper, "...is when you don't give me one of your smiles," she reached to touch his face, "or your smirks - I love them," she gave him a soft kiss.
After that, the smirk that broke across Klaus' lips were inevitable, "Please, do go on..."
Maleny chuckled, sporting a bright blush on her cheeks, "Of course. Would that make you feel better?"
"It already is," Klaus wrapped an arm around her, "Keep going," he urged her and began kissing her all over her face while she went on with his request.
In that moment, Klaus had wished he could grab Maleny and do the same thing they had done back in their secluded area. His arms worked before his mind could process. He snatched Maleny by the waist and walked her up against the wall, just beside his bedroom.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Maleny nervously inquired, her eyes wide with surprise.
Klaus didn't answer right away. One hand traveled up to her face, tracing her cheek. He was actually very surprised of himself that he was able to restrain himself from kissing her there and then. Her rapid heartbeats alerted him he'd overstepped completely - her almost scared expression enough to remind himself that she was still not prepared.
That's what he believed anyways.
Maleny bit her lip as he stepped away from her, feeling just a little (or maybe not so little) disappointed that nothing had happened. She didn't want to push either, for he was still overly impacted by the appearance of his true father. Maybe it was best if nothing happened tonight.
"I, um, I should go..." she cleared her throat and meant to scurry away but Klaus called her back.
"Do you think I could ask of you a favor?"
"U-um..." Maleny awkwardly rubbed her neck, "...what...did you need?"
"Something simple," Klaus promised her but that didn't make her any less nervous when he held a hand for her.

Cami awkwardly knocked on Elijah's bedroom door, even though the door was already opened, "May I?" she called to the Original who stood in front of a mirror, fixing his new, clean jacket.
"Camille," Elijah turned around, a smile working its way across his lips.
Cami smiled back and hurried into his room, "Thank God you're back!" she greeted him with a tight hug, "You would not believe the trouble we went through to get you!"
"I sincerely hope it wasn't anything dangerous," Elijah pulled away and by the look Cami had he figured his hope was in vain.
"Mild," the blonde waved him off with a light chuckle, "But it's all worth it. Are you okay? What did...what did she do to you?" she asked quietly, curious yet scared for him.
Elijah slowly turned away, facing his reflection that was no longer the noble man he always made himself to be out, "If you don't mind I would prefer not to speak about it."
"No, yeah, I, um...I get it," Cami nodded, her concern not quite traceable in her tone yet. She crossed her arms and waited for him to speak again, thinking it was best to leave the topic alone until he was ready.
"Tell me," Elijah finally broke the silence that'd fallen between them, "are you going to return to the compound now?"
Cami raised her eyebrows, "Um, well...I...wasn't really sure. I talked to Mal, and she was really keen on me staying, so...if you wouldn't mind. And, if my room is still here."
Elijah turned around again, this time smiling honestly, "Your room remained just like you left it. And," he added the last word with some hesitation, "it would also do me well if you stayed here again."
"Really?" Cami blinked, unable to withhold her blush, "Wh-why?"
"Esther, she, uh...she's a very dangerous woman and I would feel far better if you were under the same roof as me where I can make sure you are safe."
Cami bit her lip and nervously smiled, "Well...I am quite capable of fighting for myself, you know."
"Yes, I know," Elijah mused, "But, for me, please?"
"It's completely settled then!" With her excitement, she embraced him in another hug.
Though while she smiled, Elijah seemed more concerned...and afraid. With the new revelation Esther had made him see - he killing Tatia, the first woman he had ever loved - he was now considering just how safe anyone was around him. Esther warned him he could end up hurting anyone - his mind settled over Camille.
He couldn't bear the idea of actually laying a finger on her. All she'd done was help him and his family, dying in the process, and she never even asked for a 'thank you' in return. He had grown so accustomed to having her around that the moment she left to create some sort of life for her own it left him a lost state.
Without realizing it, she'd become something special to him.

Cami was just walking out of Elijah's room when she caught sight of Hayley down in the courtyard, and she wasn't alone. Vincent and Kol were shackled by their wrists behind her.
"What's going on?" the blonde questioned confusedly.
"I bring a present," Hayley smirked, "Where's Elijah and Klaus?"
Before Cami replied, Elijah came out of his bedroom, "Isn't this a surprise," he remarked.
"We got them, Elijah, now what?" Hayley raised her eyebrows, intent on making the two rogue brothers pay for their actions.
"We'll have a word," Elijah motioned for Cami to join Hayley, "I'll get Niklaus, he'll definitely want a word with them as well."
"Let's go," Hayley harshly yanked on the chains around the brothers. Cami started for the stairs while Elijah headed for Klaus' bedroom.
Elijah thought it was unusually quiet upstairs and once he saw Maleny's open bedroom without the blonde witch inside, he believed something was wrong. Without knocking, he opened Klaus' door and stepped inside only to find his younger brother asleep already.
He wasn't alone, no. Maleny was right beside him, still in her clothes, but fast asleep. Klaus held her close while Maleny rested her head on his chest. Both seemed surprisingly at peace - that was a novelty in this family.
A silent smile broke across Elijah's face as he slowly backtracked out of the room. Perhaps, it would be better if Klaus learned of Fin's and Kol's arrival tomorrow morning.

———————————————————————————————————
New Orleans - 2025
On the way to the Louisiana town, Eternity had requested that Klaus summon two people, one named Rebekah and the other Kol there. Elijah sensed those names were familiar to him, just like the hybrid they rode on a plane together with all the way back to the States and then climbed into an awaiting Ford Expedition.
The amnesiac had a million questions he wanted to ask both his companions about who he was, but refrained. He wanted to see the world he had come from with his own eyes first, before asking anything that might influence his choice as to whether or not he should return to his old life.
Klaus hadn’t seem very keen on conversing anyway. He remained quiet and seemed worried the whole trip. Eternity has tried to comfort him, but the hybrid had continued to be skeptical of her abilities to help him. He must have been the type to need to see things with his own eyes,
Before long, they were all standing in the inner courtyard of the Abattoir with a tall blonde coming to meet them. The storm caused by the two men’s close proximity, as well as the whispers and the painful tugging had been kept to a dull roar with Eternity’s powers. The new familiar face was named Freya Mikaelson, a witch who turned out to be Niklaus’s and Elijah’s older sister.
Immediately, the Mikaelson witch relayed that she had been trying to find Hayley, but had no luck in discovering her location. It was then that she had noticed the shimmering immortal and felt overwhelmed by her very presence there. The woman had tears in her eyes and nearly collapsed upon the concrete floor.
“It’s you. I know you. Even if I were blind, I would know you - the goddess from beyond the stars and the spirit of the forest. I saw you once, long ago, but I thought you were just a dream,” Freya rambled to the ethereal beauty, then breathed a sigh of relief, before collecting herself to more casually say, “Nik, told me that you’re here to stop the Hollow.”
“She’s also here to help find and save Hayley,” Klaus piped up. “That takes priority, Sister.”
“Actually, eradicating the Hollow is first on the agenda,” Eternity corrected him. “I do not wish to waste my energy continuing to keep that evil from tearing this city apart. Where are your other siblings, Nik?”
“We’re here,” called another female.
Suddenly, two more people came forth, coming down from the upper levels of the house. One was another blonde woman and the other was a tall brunette man. These people must have been Rebekah and Kol.
Again, Elijah felt that sensation of familiarity when faced with these other strangers, whom were supposedly his relatives, but couldn’t remember them.
“Elijah,” Rebekah greeted him happily, surprised to see him.
It was awkward to not remember one’s own siblings, but that was the reality he faced. He smiled politely at the blonde vampire, however it certainly wasn’t with the familiarity he was supposed to have.
“Gather around Mikaelson siblings possessed by the Hollow,” Eternity announced to them all. “I will extract the demon that plagues you and this world, banishing it forever, so that once more your family can be whole.”
“And how do you plan on doing that, love,” Kol asked her, as each of them, including Elijah drew near her. “Not even the most powerful of witches, not even the Ancestors, could stop the Hollow.”
The ethereal beauty laughed lightly and then smirked at the tall man, “But I am not of this world. I am mightier than your mortal magic and mortal spirits of the afterworld, my dear Kol. I am strong enough to do what they could not. Now, come. It is time...to show you my wonders.”
Tentatively, the amnesiac vampire drew even closer and the other three did as well. They all came to stand on every side of her. Elijah stood in front of her, Niklaus in back of her, Kol to the left and Rebekah to the right. Each of them watched with curiosity and a bit of uncertainty as Eternity thrusted her hands outward on ether side of her.
It was immediate when Elijah and the other three were forced to bend back with their arms straight out. A terrible pain filled the amnesiac vampire. It was an agonizing burning and an excruciating pulling feeling that left him unable to do anything. He couldn’t breathe or think. He only knew pain.
However, it only last a second, before it was over and there was only a big blue light hanging over all their heads. Elijah only saw it for a moment, the pure form of the Hollow, before it suddenly and abruptly vanished as if it had never been there at all.
The whole ordeal was rather anticlimactic in it’s quickness. The amnesiac vampire hadn’t known what to expect, but had thought there would have been more to the experience of the Hollow’s removal and it’s subsequent destruction. Yet, he found he was simply thankful that he no longer felt that horrible tugging or heard those bothersome whispers - and he never would again.
“Well, now that that’s been dealt with, can we please find and rescue my wife?” Klaus said to Eternity, as he regained his breath from having his piece of the Hollow ripped from him. “Hayley needs us.”
The immortal lady nodded, “Aye. Let’s go. I already have a fix on her.”
Elijah watched as the woman he loved more than anything move to leave him there with these familiar strangers. “Hey,” he pulled her back around, before she could get far. “I’ll go with you. Maybe I can help.”
Eternity smiled sweetly and nodded.
With that, the trio was off to rescue Klaus’s wife.
It didn’t take long before they were just outside of New Orleans at an old, abandoned house called Shiloh Place. It was Eternity that had guided them there and quietly, they exited the hybrid’s Land Rover, proceeding forward with the cautious stealth of predators.
As they approached the house, Elijah could hear conversations being carried out inside. A young boy and an older woman were arguing over killing Hayley. The boy didn’t want to hurt anybody, but this woman insisted that it needed to be done. They needed to move quickly or else their efforts would be meaningless.
Klaus lead the way, kicking down the front door effortlessly and angrily shouting, “Greta!”
The younger Mikaelson charged inside with Elijah and Eternity following behind closely. They were just in time to see the hybrid attack and tear apart the older woman that had been heard arguing with a boy, of whom stood back with a look of terror upon his face. He thought he was going to die as well, the amnesiac vampire thought.
Then their eyes locked and he couldn’t bring himself to punish one so young, though it was obvious he had been involved with the kidnapping. Instead, he quietly urged the boy to leave. He didn’t have to be told twice. He left the house immediately and didn’t look back.
Nearby was a familiar young woman, covered in dirt and dried blood, as she sat in the corner, appearing exhausted. The older Mikaelson turned his attention toward her, watching as his wife went to her, checking to make sure that she was alright. He went over as well, ready to help get Klaus’s wife out of harms way.
“Who are you?” Hayley asked Eternity.
“Someone who will reverse what has been done to you,” the ethereal beauty replied quickly. “They bound your werewolf side to kill you, didn’t they?”
The young woman nodded, “Yeah. How did you -?”
The powerful immortal laid her fingertips on Hayley’s forehead, which glowed bright blue and hummed for a brief moment. “There. Your hybrid status had been restored, my dear. Now, we should get out of here.”
“Yes, let’s,” Klaus agreed as he came over with a soft smile as he looked down at his restored wife. “This place is disgusting. No place for my lady.”
Hayley got to her feet quickly with a loving grin of her own as she ran into her husband’s arms, embracing him tightly. “Thank you for the timely rescue,” she murmured, before she kissed his lips.
Elijah watched the touching scene as it unfolded, feeling the loving effects of it urge him to wrap his arm around Eternity, pulling her into his side and resting his head against hers. She put her hand on his chest and kissed his cheek quickly, just as the pair of hybrids pulled apart.
“Hey, I noticed that the world isn’t on fire with the two of you together,” Hayley said, gesturing between the two Originals. “What’s up with that?”
“Well, you have my big brother’s wife to thank for that,” Klaus told her, nodding at Eternity.
The female hybrid blinked rabidly at the other couple. “Wife? You got married in amnesia land, Elijah? Sounds like you’ve lived a happy life,” she spoke to him, as if his amnesiac state was in the past.
“I’m still in amnesia land actually,” he replied with a polite smile. “I have no idea who you are, only that you are apparently part of a family I can’t remember either.”
“I see,” Hayley said awkwardly.
Her husband piped up then with gratitude on his tongue, “Elijah’s wife defeated the Hollow, freeing my siblings and I, as well as the world, of it’s wickedness. She even helped to locate you, darling. We owe her a great debt.”
Elijah took his wife’s hand in his, holding on tightly, as they looked at each other with pride.
“Well, thank you...er...,” the female hybrid trailed off.
“I’m Eternity,” the shimmering woman introduced herself, “and you’re welcome.”
With the conversation coming to a close, the quartet made their way out.
As they did, Klaus mentioned how Greta’s death wasn’t the end of their troubles - that there were others that would declare it war and come for them all. It worried Hayley and even Elijah, though he didn’t remember these people.
Eternity, on the other hand, remained neutral. “I’m sure you can handle things, Nik. You are the big bad hybrid. These enemies are nothing you cannot handle.”
“Wait. You are incredibly powerful and yet, you’re not going to help?” Hayley asked her with a deep, confused frown, as she pulled everyone to a stop in the overgrown front yard.
The ethereal beauty looked at Elijah with a soft smile and shrugged slightly as she turned back to the other female, “I made a promise to my husband. What I do from here is completely up to him.”
The brunette’s frown only deepened, “What does that mean?”
“It means that if my brother so chooses, they will go back to their quiet little life in the French countryside,” Klaus answered. “He came with his wife, so that she could rid the world of the a Hollow and safe you from your death. Now that’s complete, Elijah gets to choose his path: to go and live as an amnesiac for the rest of his days or to remain here and return to his old existence.”
All eyes fell upon the older Original, who shifted uncomfortably under their gazes. He supposed he did have a rather large decision to make. He simply didn’t know which path to take. On one hand, he had enjoyed his life in the countryside, happily ever after with a wife he loved so completely he couldn’t imagine life without her. However, on the other hand, Elijah was also very drawn to these familiar strangers, these people he had once cared for so deeply.
“Perhaps we will stay for a night or two, until my husband makes his choice,” Eternity suggested, seeing how torn he was over this most important decision that would define the rest of his immortal life. “Come. Let us return to the Mikaelson Compound.”
From there, the four of them did as Eternity had said and returned to the place that had once been Elijah’s home. Being in that place was like being trapped in a hazy dream, where things were familiar, but one couldn’t recall why. He found himself surrounded by ghosts of memories he couldn’t quite reach, that were on just the edge of his mind and wouldn’t come into focus.
It was maddening as it was intriguing. He wanted to remember, but that the same time, he didn’t.
Then the Original found himself surrounded by a loving family, who celebrated the safe return of one of their own, as well as welcomed a new member in his wife. Seeing them all together, happy and full of love for each other, made his decision for him.
Within a mere few hours of being back in New Orleans, Elijah pulled Eternity off to the side, during the celebration, and told her, “Sweetheart, I want you to give me back my memories.”
“Are you sure?” She immediately responded, knowing how much he had wanted to remain in France before. “Is this what you truly want?”
Without hesitation, he nodded, “Yes, I’m sure. I want this. I want to know.”

Elizabeth's hand ran through Elijah's hair as she watched him sleep. He had been sleeping soundly beside her that she couldn't help but smile at him as she did. His arm had been wrapped around her protectively, keeping her close as possible to him. She would have happily fallen asleep with him, she just wasn't sure if her falling asleep would cause her to wake up in the real world. She had watched Hope fall asleep here a few times and she had faded from the spell quickly. Elizabeth was able to wake up here, but that was because Hope had helped her into the spell. She just didn't want to risk it after worrying Elijah with what she had gone through.
If Elizabeth had to be honest with herself, she didn't want to leave any time soon. She wanted to stay right where she was and forget about everything that had gone wrong. Forget about all of the responsibility that she had put on her shoulders for it all to fail as it had. Being there by Elijah's side and never leaving had seemed more appealing by the minute. She wanted to keep him close to her and forget that she had ever believed that he had died at her hands.
No words could ever be formed to express the relief that she now felt. She had been able to let everything she had been holding back out. Through the night, when she wasn't tangled in the sheets with Elijah, he had gotten her to talk about everything. She had been able to remove a lot of the weight she felt on her shoulders. She had been able to cry, scream, and release the anger she had been holding in with Elijah's help. The release it had given her was everything she needed in the last few years. It made her feel as if the world wasn't about to crash and burn around her just as she had felt it would only days ago.
Picking up on the voices down stairs, Elizabeth sighed softly as she ran her fingers along Elijah's cheek. "'Lijah." Her voice was soft as she tried to wake him. His hold on her tightened and it caused her to chuckle. "Time to get up." She said before kissing his cheek.
"It's too early." He mumbled as he pulled her close as possible. "Not enough sleep for my liking."
She smiled and shook her head. "And you wont be getting much more sleep if they decide to come up here and drag us out of bed."
His eyes opened at her words and she smiled at him. "I highly doubt they would even take a step up those stairs." He noted as he leaned in and kissed her neck. "Can't we just stay here for just a little longer?"
It had caused her to laugh and shake her head slightly. "While any other time I would agree to staying in bed with you, your niece is pacing the kitchen waiting for us to go down there."
Elijah laughed and looked up at her. "How long has she been waiting?"
"Almost two hours." She said with a nod. "Both Rebekah and Freya have been trying to convince her that we need a little bit more time alone. It will only be a matter of time until she actually makes her way up here."
Sighing, Elijah nodded his head. "Better to go down there and see her. It is you that she wishes to see."
Elizabeth smiled and kissed him softly. "Only because I've been gone for as long as I have. Once the excitement wears off she wont care about me anymore."
Elijah laughed and shook his head. "Trust me, every time she visits it is continuous questions on what I feel through you and what you could possibly be doing."
"I spend too much time away from her."
"Correction, you spend too much time away from us." He said as a small smirk played on his lips.
She laughed as she pulled herself out of his hold and sat up. "You have a connection to me. She doesn't."
Leaning up on his elbow, he watched as she began to pull herself out of bed. "Just because I can feel your presence doesn't mean I don't miss seeing you."
"I know. Believe me, up until that spell, all I wanted to do was just turn around and come back to see you." She said with a slight nod. "I'd see the a wolf pack enjoying their time with their family and all I wanted to do was get back to mine."
"And now you are back." He said giving her a reassuring smile. "And able to get back on regular visiting basis."
"I look forward to each one." She said as she walked over to his closet before tossing clothes at him. "Now get dressed. I can hear Hope's foot tapping getting worse."
For the first few hours after Elizabeth and Elijah had made their way down stairs, Hope had been attached to Elizabeth's side. Hope had a years worth of stories to tell and she wasn't going to wait any longer to tell Elizabeth them. The family sat in the living room together as Hope went into great detail about everything. The Mikaelsons helped where needed, giving their accounts of what happened that day. Elizabeth had enjoyed every moment of it. She missed out on a lot during her time away and they had made her feel as if she had been there for every moment with all the details.
Even the Mikaelsons told her the details of things that happened while Hope hadn't been around. To the days of fighting, bantering and actually spending quality time together -not like they had much of a choice still- Elizabeth had been included in it all. By the time everyone was out of stories, Elizabeth's cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much. It was a memory that Elizabeth was going to hold onto for whenever she may need it. It was almost as if they were really home and not stuck in some spell. After all the fun of things were over, Hope left at Hayley's request for her to eat. It left the adults to discuss things that Elizabeth preferred that Hope didn't hear them.
"Elijah had been vague on the details of the spell," Freya began. "but I'm curious to know what she made you believe."
"Freya." Elijah said in a warning tone. He didn't want Elizabeth to relive it. All the emotions that he had felt from her and seen her go through the whole night had been hard for him to see. He didn't want her to go through it again.
Elizabeth gave him a small smile. "It's fine." She promised before looking over at Freya. "My biggest fear has been, and probably always will be, killing you because of what I am now. The witch saw that and she twisted that night in so many ways that felt so real. The vampires invaded the compound, I killed them along with-" She took a deep breath before letting it go. "with Kol and Klaus before I killed Elijah. I had no humanity, I was this dark creature that night. The spell made it seem like some other reason flipped my humanity back on. From there every time I felt Elijah's presence, the spell made it seem like it was me going crazy and each time that happened, there would be this thirst inside me that I couldn't handle."
"Would make sense as to what Elijah was feeling from time to time." Rebekah noted.
Elizabeth bit down on her lip for a moment. "I killed hundred of people in the last year because of this spell. She could have taken anything when she rummaged through my head, but because I took the venom from her friends, that was my payback."
"Liz," Freya said shaking her head. "You were doing what you needed to do for us. And for that I am grateful. You had us all worried when Hope came running to tell us."
"Not to mention, we had to keep Elijah from breaking the place." Kol added with a small smirk. Rebekah smacked his arm hard. "ouch, what was that for?"
"You've got to be kidding." Rebekah shook her head. "If it had been Davina in Elizabeth's place, you wouldn't be smirking about anything."
Kol frowned for a moment before looking at Elizabeth and Elijah. "I'm sorry, that was rude of me. Elijah had every right to be worried as he was."
"It's okay, Kol." Elizabeth said giving him a smile. "I know that this is hard for all of you in here. The communication sucks and there is no way to know what's going on out there without me or Hope here."
"All that matters is that the spell is gone and you're back." Elijah said before kissing her forehead.
A small smile pulled at her lips once more before it left. She sighed softly before looking at everyone. "There is something you guys should know. While I had hoped that I could change things, before I left, I knew that I wasn't going to get the cures."
The siblings' eyes, minus Elijah, had widened at that. Elijah had found out the night before. They had talked it out and before hand and he had encouraged her to tell his siblings. Elijah had been understanding about the whole thing. Elizabeth had told him about her visit with Jess before she had left. While she hadn't seen any of the visions or knew that she would be hit with the spell, it was Jess's words that confirmed it all.
"From what I can see, doing whatever is necessary leads to consequences that you may not like. I don't know what those consequences will be, but I know that once you come home…" She sighed softly as she placed her hand on Elizabeth's shoulder. "There will be something different about you."
"A good different or a bad different?" She asked hopeful.
Jess shook her head slightly. "Like there is a secret you've been keeping that no one can get you to talk about."
While part of Elizabeth never wanted to know what that secret was, it was while she was out there that she realized what it meant for that trip. It proved to be true when she had gotten spelled and practically fought against trying to get the venom she needed. She came home without a single vial. There was nothing to give proof that she even had them besides the memories.
"This doesn't change anything, Liz." Rebekah said once the shock of her statement had worn off. "You went out there for us. You risked your life to be able to get our family back together. Cure or not, you fought to get what we needed and that is all that matters."
"She's right." Freya nodded. "You could have easily decided not to go and we'd be here still trying to make a plan from what happened with your chemists lab."
Hey sleeping beauty, you ever coming out?
Malakai's words played in Elizabeth's mind causing a small smile to pull at her lips.
"What is it?" Elijah asked noticing the smile. He knew it wasn't Freya's comment that had prompted it. There had to of been something else.
"I think I'm being asked to make an appearance out of here." A chuckle passed her lips.
You've gotta come out for food at some point. Got a bag of O negative waiting for you out here.
"And bribed with sustenance." She added with a roll of her eyes.
"To be fair you've been here for over 24 hours." Freya noted giving her a smile.
Elizabeth sighed. "I know. It's just felt nice to be here and not having to face the real world."
"It's not like you can't come back." Rebekah reminded her. "Now would be the time to let them know you are in fact okay. I'm sure Kai is out there wanting to make sure you aren't completely lost."
Elizabeth chuckled. "You're right they need to hear it from me."
Even though Elizabeth didn't voice the worry that now played through her, Elijah had felt it. He placed his hand on top of hers, giving it a slight squeeze. "No one here blames you for what happened."
She shook her head slightly. "I blame myself. I was careless and even though I knew what would happen, it still played out in front of me. I have to be able to explain that to Hayley and Hope that I knew going away wasn't good enough, yet I still did it."
"You had to try." Kol said with a nod. "Doing absolutely nothing would have been worse. While I am beginning to loath this place, I feel a little better knowing that you are out there trying and not just sitting around waiting for things. I'm sure they will understand just as we do."
"Hopefully." Elizabeth nodded. She needed things to work out. She needed things to go her way after this.
Elijah stood up and held his hand out to her. "Come on, I'll walk you out."
Elizabeth chuckled and placed her hand in his. "Now you are trying to get me to leave."
"Only to get you to come back here faster." He pulled her up to her feet.
"Bloody hell, can we not have a repeat of last night?" Kol whined. "There is only so many places out of hearing range that we can go to. Elizabeth laughed and shook her head while Elijah just ignored him, leading Elizabeth out of the house.
"I never said 'thank you' for what you did." Elizabeth said as they walked through the garden.
"There is no reason to thank me." He gave her a smile. "I'd be willing to do anything to make sure you were safe and sound."
She smiled. "You've always done that for me, even when you didn't need to."
It was his turn to smile. "Bond or no bond, I will always be there when you need me."
"I'll hold you to that." When they reached the field beyond the garden, Elizabeth turned towards him. "I'll be back later."
Elijah nodded as he leaned in and kissed her softly. "Take all the time you need."
While he had said it, he didn't mean it at all. He wanted her to take her time to show them that she was okay. But he wanted her to spend some more time with him before she went back to New Orleans. She nodded her response before she took a few steps back.
Grabbing a hold of her hand, he pulled her back to him and it caused Elizabeth to laugh. "I'll only be gone for a few minutes." She said leaning up and kissing him. "An hour at the most."
"I don't think you should go." He said with a smile on his face. "We'll have Hope tell them everything."
She shook her head. "No, I need to do this. We can't have Hope playing messenger all the time."
"I know." He said with a nod before reluctantly letting her go.
"I'll be back." She said with a nod taking a step back from him.
"I'll be waiting." He said as he watched her.
"Not like you really had any other choice." The words had caused him to shake his head.
"Go before you change your mind." He said knowing she actually had to show herself out in the real world to show that this had worked.
She smiled at him one last time before she felt herself leave the dream world. She found herself laying on a mattress and sighed. She knew everyone had gone through a few measures to make sure was fine and Elizabeth knew that it was time for the apologies and the new plan that she would have to come up to get back on track.

Coming home should have felt like the best thing in the world. But it wasn't.
Coming back should have meant that there was some relief of being back in familiar surroundings instead of traveling to different states in unfamiliar territory. But stepping back into the one place Elizabeth had been calling home for years had now felt different. It didn't feel like home as it did before they had packed up and left. Even as Elizabeth walked into the courtyard and looked around, there was something about the place that felt...off.
There was silence and an emptiness that surrounded her without any explanation. Maybe it had something to do with the fact she had been away for so long. The time away from here had been hard in itself and here she was back at the compound empty handed and nothing felt right. But as her hazel eyes scanned every wall, every column, every stair case that she could see, it was foreign to her. The Mikaelson crest that had been embedded into one of the columns had sent an unwanted chill up her spine that forced her to look away from it.
Malakai walked up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Home sweet home." He said sighing softly as a smile formed on his face.
"Doesn't feel like it." Elizabeth said as she continued to look around as if seeing the place for the very first time. There was something in her voice that stated clearly 'this is no longer home' and Malakai hadn't missed it. There was something about the very place she stood that no longer felt like home at all. She had this feeling deep down with in her that from the moment she walked through the doors, her home felt like a strange place to her entirely. It made her want to turn around and walk right back out of the compound without another look. It felt like there was no longer a reason to be there anymore. The warmth she had felt before leaving was no longer there.
"That is only because we haven't been here for a year, Liz." He said walking around her so that he was standing in front of her. "Once we get settled back in, why not go take a trip to see Hope and Hayley?" He asked trying to take her mind off the thing he thought was bugging her. "You haven't seen them and I am sure Hope would love to see you."
While it should have brought a smile to Elizabeth's face mentioning Hope, in that moment, it seemed to mean nothing to her. It just meant seeing two faces that would make things a whole lot harder. The past year had pushed Elizabeth pretty hard and all she wanted to do was go off somewhere on her own, anywhere away from here. She didn't want to be around anyone. Malakai could see that. He could see that she wasn't herself. She hadn't actually been herself for a while now and it scared him. Her eyes didn't give off that glow that they always had. She didn't even show any excitement that she would be returning home to see Elijah.
Ignoring what Malakai said, Elizabeth began to make her way up the stairs. "Make sure Veronica is getting settled back in." She said not turning to look back at Malakai.
Malakai sighed and looked towards the entrance of the compound. He watched as Veronica walked in with her bag. Her smile faded the moment she seen Malakai. Dropping her bag, she walked over to Malakai and hugged him. "She'll be fine, Kai."
Malakai hugged her back and shook his head slightly. "Something tells me its not as simple as saying she'll be fine. What ever happened out there when she ditched us, it wasn't good."
Veronica pulled away from him and looked up at him. "She might just be stressed. I mean she hasn't really slept, not to mention her feeding habits have been a roller coaster ride. It could just be the weight of it all."
"I don't think this has anything to do with stress, Veronica." Malakai shook his head. "She went from being completely fine one day to something being different about her the next...It wasn't fun burning all those bodies. We both know she hates letting herself indulge on her darker side and that was not her falling off the wagon either."
Veronica sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "You're right." She said nodding. "She has been too different."
They both looked up towards the room where Elizabeth probably disappeared into. It had been her room and since they had been back the last few minutes, there had been nothing but silence coming from it. Elizabeth had been silent the whole way back. It was like something had her attention inside her head and the world surrounding her meant nothing. It left both of them worried and they weren't sure what to do.
"Maybe she just needs to go and see Elijah." Malakai said as a suggestion. "Maybe once she there in the spell she'll snap out of whatever mood this is of hers."
"Is she even going to want to?" Veronica asked. "She seems like she just wants to be left alone."
"I believe she just needs a little time." Both Veronica and Malakai turned to see Jess entering the compound.
"I'd ask how you know, but that answer is obvious." Malakai said shaking his head.
"This trip was supposed to be the game changer, remember?" Jess said as looked between the two. "She was hoping to have the cures with her by the time you guys came back. She wasn't able to accomplish that. My guess is she is taking that pretty hard at the moment. If it had been you in her position, I am sure you'd want some space as well."
"Its a set back." Veronica said shaking her head slightly. "We can just regroup and head back out."
"Unfortunately, that isn't an option this time." Jess said sighing.
"How is it not?" Malakai questioned.
"Elizabeth has known her future for quite some time, Kai." Jess looked up towards Elizabeth's room before looking back at them.
Malakai rose an eyebrow and took a step closer to Jess. "You mean to tell me, she knew this trip would be a waste and she still went?"
"She hoped it wouldn't be." Veronica said placing her hand on Malakai's shoulder. "Even if you knew something wouldn't work out in the end, wouldn't you at least want to make an effort to fix things."
"Well, yeah." Malakai said with a nod. "But that doesn't tell us why she is acting different after she ditched us out there."
"She ditched you?" Jess asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Do you think you may know what have happened?" Veronica asked.
Jess chuckled. "I only see pieces of her future. I don't see every waking moment of her life. Every vision that I see can take days, weeks or even years before they actually happen."
"Who wants to be the one to go up there and actually ask her what happened?" Malakai asked looking at the girls.
"I'll go." Veronica said as she turned and headed up the stairs to find Elizabeth.
While Elizabeth had in fact walked into her room, she never moved more than a few feet after doing so. Veronica had found her standing just inside the room as she stared at everything that was in sight, at least that was what it looked like from Veronica's view.
Veronica frowned as she stepped into the room and stood next to Elizabeth. Elizabeth never once acknowledged her presence. She just stood there.
"Liz?" Veronica tried pulling Elizabeth out of where ever her head was at but she still stood there. "Earth to Liz." Veronica moved in front of Elizabeth and it seemed that Elizabeth was still staring straight ahead. Veronica sighed and was about to give up when a thought crossed her mind. She placed her hand on Elizabeth's head. If she couldn't get Elizabeth to come out of her head, Veronica would just have to go to her. But when Veronica entered her mind, it was not at all what she expected to find.
Moving her hands away from Elizabeth's head, Veronica shook her slightly. "Liz."
That had seemed to do the trick. Elizabeth blinked a few times before her eyes focused on Veronica. "Hey." She said with small smile.
Worried was written on Veronica's face for a moment. She needed to know what the hell she had just seen. "Liz, remind me again why we are looking for the cure for your venom."
Elizabeth groaned in annoyance and rolled her eyes slightly as she walked over to the cart filled with alcohol, pouring herself a drink. "I'm beginning to think finding a way to get a cure for my bite is really pointless." She brought the glass up to her lips, taking a drink. "But if you want a recap, it's because we don't want a repeat of what happened."
"And what was it that happened?" Veronica asked as she watched Elizabeth. She just needed her to say the one thing she needed to confirm what she believes she knows. She could see Elizabeth sigh for a moment. The look in the woman's eyes had looked sad for a only a second before she shook her head.
"I will never let that happen again." Elizabeth had whispered as she took another drink from her cup. "You already know the gory details you don't need me to retell them." She said before walking out onto the balcony.
"Where all did you guys go and do while you were away?" Jess asked Malakai as they sat down at the table having a drink.
"At first, we never left the borders of Louisiana. " Malakai said with a slight nod. "She wanted to be close just in case if she was needed."
"But she never was." Jess added.
"No. She wasn't. She called Vincent and Josh a few times and checked on everything, but every time she did, they would reassure her that everything was fine. That no one was getting to Klaus anytime soon. And when she finally believed that he would be okay in her absence, we left completely. Her whole plan of finding this one particular wolf pack in Montana had been the easiest thing in the world. We had found them easily."
"I sense a 'but' coming." Jess said with a small smile.
Malakai smiled and shook his head slightly. "They were welcoming. They did not care that the three of us had been vampires, which was surprising. Elizabeth was able to talk with the Alpha and tell them why we had gone searching for them. But the moment she brought up what she was, they feared her. Rumors had spread far and wide about what Elizabeth had done almost five years ago. She spent a few months trying to gain their trust. Hell, we all did. But in the end, Elizabeth ended up taking what she wanted."
"What did she do?" Jess asked a bit worried.
"I have never seen a vampire compel a werewolf before." Malakai admitted. "I always thought since they were a supernatural creature that they were safe from it. She had easily compelled him and had him in a mask before any of us could even blink. She had taken the venom that she needed and we left. When we did leave, it wasn't exactly as quiet as we'd hoped."
"You were followed." It wasn't a question and Malakai knew it as well. But he nodded anyway.
"That was when she ditched us." He said before taking a drink. "Veronica and I had managed to make it safely back to where we were staying, but Liz was no where to be found. Sure we were worried about her, but being as that she can't be killed easily, we knew she would eventually make her way back there. It took about two weeks to find out that she had left the state altogether. Looking back at it now, she had left us to lead them all away from us. That's how she has always been. Putting others before herself even if it was better to stick together. But when we eventually caught up to her, there was something... off about her."
"Like what?" Jess asked.
"She was silent. There was something in her eyes that you could just see that something was different. She looked empty as if something she cared about the most was taken from right in front of her." He shook his head thinking about how they had found Elizabeth. "She kept insisting that she had been fine. She wouldn't tell us what happened while she had been gone. For about a week she kept saying that we should just leave and forget the plan, but we kept pushing for her to continue. We did for a while, but we soon found out that it was much harder to convince the other packs we were friendly."
"They all knew what happened in Montana?" Jess asked with a raised eyebrow.
"They did." He nodded. "They knew she needed the venom and if we even stepped a foot into their territory, bullets and arrows went flying. But the packs weren't the worst of our problems. It was Liz's feeding habits. At first she would take more than she normally would before she'd heal them and send them on their way. Then it grew to where Liz would continue to drink from them until Veronica has to pull them away from her. Eventually, she drank from them until they were dry. There had been one night while Veronica and I had slept that she left a trail of bodies leading away from town when she decided she wanted some time alone."
"That isn't like her." Jess said shaking her head. "Even back when I was younger, she never left someone dead. Yes, she would drink from them but she would only take a little before sending them on their way. I know she had problems falling off the wagon, but you guys were there for her. She wouldn't have done that"
"Even with this last trip off the wagon, Elizabeth never once killed someone while feeding." He shook his head slightly. "That kind of blood lust always scared her. She has always been afraid of loosing that much control where she killed several people."
"What changed?" Jess asked. "She still has her humanity so she should care about these people that she is killing."
"That is what I don't get." Malakai said standing from his seat. "She hasn't shut off her humanity, she is still herself when she doesn't go into her weird silent mood thing she has been doing lately. But at the same time, she is feeding as if she doesn't have her humanity and at times she acts like she doesn't give a damn about anyone, even us. There was even a moment when she didn't give a damn that I was almost shot in the chest with an arrow. I don't know how to get through to her to see what is wrong with her."
Jess shook her head. "I'm sure its just the feeling of having the weight of the world on her shoulders. Eventually she will snap out of it."
Malakai sighed and looked up at the ceiling and thought for a moment. "You know she hasn't said his name since we caught up to her."
"You're kidding." Jess said shocked.
"Those cures were the most important things to her and getting Elijah back was her main priority. And she hasn't mentioned his name or even the fact that we spent a year trying to get packs to help us to only fail. I figured she would have been saying that we are on to the next plan or that now that we were back, or that she was going to go and see him. But instead, she just closed herself off in her room. Its so unlike her."
"Maybe Veronica is having some kind of luck with her. She has been up there for some time." Jess said hoping that Veronica had gotten through to Elizabeth.
They sat in silence after that. There was nothing that needed to be said. It now was just a waiting for either Veronica to come back down and give some details as to what happened, or that Elizabeth would be back down after spilling everything out to Veronica and feel a lot better. They hoped that Elizabeth would be a lot better than she had been. While Jess hadn't been with them for that year, hearing all of this had been enough to make her worried for Elizabeth.
Hearing footsteps, they both turned to see Veronica walking towards them. Worry had been written all over her face and as she entered the room, she looked to Malakai right away. "Its not good Kai." She said shaking her head.
"What happened?" Malakai asked.
"They were working with witches. " Veronica said sighing. "While she was gone, a witch had caught up with her long enough to give her a taste of her magic. And it left a very bad taste in Elizabeth's mind."
"What did she use?" Jess asked worried.
"A spell that can make anyone believe their worst fear has happened." Veronica said with a worried look.
"What was hers?" Malakai asked.
"Do you really have to ask that?" Veronica questioned. It took a moment before Malakai realized what it was. "When she snapped out of that weird staring thing that she does, I asked her a few questions about our time away. She believes we were out there getting the cure as a future precaution not as a way to correct the past."
Hello? Hayley's voice came from the other side of the line.
"May I please speak to that adorable little girl of yours?" Malakai asked as he held the phone to his ear.
Is everything okay, Kai? Hayley had been able to pick up the worry in his voice even though he had tried his hardest to make it seem like everything was okay.
"We may have a slight set back, but Hope is the only one that can get the message I need sent." He said as he looked up towards Elizabeth's room.
And who exactly is she sending this message to?
"One of the psychopaths down the street." He said sarcastically. "Come on Hayley, it's for Freya and Elijah.
Hayley sighed. Okay hold on. A moment later Hope was on the phone.
Hi Kai! She said with excitement. It had been a year since the two had talked.
"Hello Hope. I need you to do me a favor and give your Uncle Elijah a message for me, can you do that?"
I can. What is the message?
Malakai sighed and thought of exactly how he wanted this message to be said. "Now, before I say what the message is you can't tell your mom because she will worry, got it."
Got it.
Hope ran through the field as fast as her feet could carry her. She was determined to find Elijah as fast as she could to deliver the message that Malakai had told her was of great importance. When she reached the steps to the porch, Freya had met her outside sensing that she was there. When she seen that Hope was all out of breath, she became worried.
"What is it?" Freya asked opening the door and letting Hope inside.
"Where is Uncle Elijah?" She asked as she tried catching her breath. Freya looked towards the kitchen and a moment later Elijah was walking towards them.
"What's wrong?" He asked looking at Hope.
"I have a message for you from Kai." She said looking up at him.
Freya and Elijah looked at each other for a moment. A flicker of worry flashed over their faces before Elijah looked back over to Hope. He took a few more steps towards her and knelt down in front of her. "What is this message?"
"Aunt Liz is home." She said with a small smile. Elijah raised an eyebrow. As much as it was good to know that Elizabeth was finally back, he didn't think it was necessary for Malakai to send Hope to tell him.
"Is that all of the message?" He asked.
Hope shook her head. "No. He said when Aunt Liz was out of town, she made a pack of wolves and a witch very angry. The witch made Aunt Liz believe something really really bad happened."
Elijah was even more worried now. "Did Malakai say what it was that she believes?"
Hope nodded and frowned. She didn't like this part of the message. Even though she didn't like that a witch had put a spell on Elizabeth, Hope thought telling this to Elijah would make him upset. But Malakai had told her it was important to tell Elijah even though it was a really bad thing. "She believes you died. She thinks she killed you."

Elijah’s Eternity: New Orleans Part Eight
Tumblr media
Author: eternityunicorn
Genre: Romance/Drama/AU
Pairing: Elijah Mikealson x OC
Warnings: Violance, Smut (*Smut chapters marked +18)
Summary:
NOTE: OC and original elements are from my up and coming novel series!
———————————————————————————————————
Eternity returned to the Mikealson compound by dawn, much to Elijah’s relief. In her absence, his siblings sat around and asked Veren a million different questions about herself and the greater universe, just as they had with Eternity. The dark haired immortal took it all in stride, answering their questions with patience and grace.
However, eventually Kol had to excuse himself after he received a text from Davina asking him to meet her in the Quarter. Then Rebekah and Freya had made their exits to tend to Hope, whom was playing by herself upstairs. That had left Veren with Elijah, which was fine by him.
They had had a nice conversation about all the adventures and conflicts Eternity and Veren had faced over the past ten years, aside from the one involving Loki. Elijah didn’t understand much of what she told him since he hadn’t ever been to any of the worlds in the greater universe she spoke of. Yet, he was still intrigued to listen to what Eternity had been doing over the years that they had been apart.
When Eternity finally returned hours later, she looked down at Elijah in surprise. He had been laughing heartily at the story Veren told him that involved a fight at a grand party Eternity had once infiltrated to confront some lowlife villain whom she required information from. Apparently, the man she was seeking was rather flamboyant and loud - a colorful character that was hard to take seriously.
Elijah was in the middle of laughing when Eternity appeared, worn out from her journey but amused at the sight that greeted her. “Well, it seems all is well,” she said to them with a warm smile. “I am glad for that.”
She went and sat down in the space between them with a tired sigh. She did so rather ungracefully, a rare thing indeed, and laid her head back on the back of the couch, which ended up laying partially on Elijah’s arm as well. Not that he minded any.
“Are you alright, cousin?” Veren asked Eternity with concern.
“Aye, I’m fine,” she nodded. “It is just exhausting when you are dealing with a lovesick elf king, whom cannot take a hint. I wish you would have told me it was a desperate social call and not one of urgent business, cousin. I might have declined going.”
Veren and Elijah both frowned; though for different reasons. Elijah frowned because of the implication that this elf king she had gone to see was a suitor. He didn’t like the idea of that, always the possessive one. He was a little jealous, but also felt relieved that it didn’t seem that Eternity reciprocated the mystery elf’s affections. Veren, on the other hand, had frowned in concern as if she hadn’t known that was the reason the elf king had wanted an audience.
“Forgive me,” Veren apologized, “The message sent to me had been misleading, if it had not been an urgent matter of state. If I had known the truth, you know, I would have declined it in your stead.”
“It’s quite alright,” smiled Eternity. “It’s not your fault, if you had been misled.” Then she explained what had happened without prompt, “Poor Calithilon meant well. He did have business for me, at first anyway. There was a small conflict with one of his generals that he could have handled quite well on his own.
“He had invited said general to a mediation dinner to discuss whatever the grievance was. I don’t know what it had been as I barely paid attention to it all, seeing I had walked into something else entirely. In fact, I was too caught up in the fine china and elaborate flower arrangement that made the whole affair feel more like a date than a conflict resolution meeting. I wonder if the elf general felt the same, which is rather amusing to think of.”
She giggled slightly, before continuing, “Either way, the issue was resolved quickly and that was when it truly began to feel like a courtship attempt. I was, of course, polite and patient. Calithilon is a good friend and a most important ally, after all. Then he invited me on a walk around his castle and it was pleased enough, but then he took me down to one of the elvish celebrations in the village outside his home. We danced and mingled there, while I tried to find a clever, but subtle way of leaving.
“Eventually, I simply had to tell him that I had business elsewhere to attempt to that needed my immediate attention. Of course, Cal was crestfallen, but he let me go, as he didn’t have much of a choice. I suppose there is a perk to being of a higher rank.” Eternity grinned at both Veren and Elijah. “It certainly helps when one needs to get out of a awkward situation.”
Elijah was unable to help himself then as he lifted his hand from the back of the couch and began to gently run his fingers through Eternity’s snowy locks. She relaxed even more and hummed in appreciation of his caress. Her eyes fluttered closed momentarily to enjoy his attentions.
“Calithilon is a very stubborn elf, I have to give him that,” Veren commented. “I doubt anything could deter him from pursuing his heart’s desire.”
“No, I think not as well,” Eternity agreed. “He has been at this endeavor for millennia after all.”
There was a brief quiet between them. Then Veren abruptly rose to her feet and bade both Elijah and Eternity a good evening, before taking her leave of them. Like her cousin, she had duties to attend to or so that was what she had quickly explained, right before vanishing before Elijah’s very eyes.
Immediately upon Veren’s departure, Elijah pulled Eternity to him. He tucked her into his side on the couch, wrapping his arm around her, while she contentedly laid her head on his shoulder. The pale immortal didn’t even act surprised by his actions. In fact, she seemed to welcome them. Elijah was glad for that, content in her willingness to be near him.
“I missed you,” he murmured to her, kissing the top of her head, before settling against the couch again.
“I missed you as well,” she replied without hesitation. “I hated to be away from you, despite all my reservations. I wanted to be here with you, all the while I was with Cal and especially before that, during our ten years apart. I haven’t felt so desperate to be with someone since my courtship with Loki, millennia ago. I know I have my fears about moving forward, but what lays here between us is certainly something not to be dismissed lightly or at all. I don’t know what comes next, but I am glad Niklaus has reason to call upon me.”
Elijah was just about to reply, to tell her he felt the same, to persuade her to return to his side officially, when Niklaus and Hayley came stumbling in, looking worse for wear. They were both covered in dirt and dried blood. Their clothes torn and tattered in places.
Immediately, he was on his feet with Eternity following suit. He was deeply concerned for them, though whatever had occurred, must have been a victorious endeavor. They seemed to be alit with the afterglow of a successful battle.
“A rough night, Niklaus?” Elijah asked his brother, as they drew near.
“Not at all,” the hybrid replied with a smug grin. “It was quite easy to subdue the upstarts in the bayou, especially with my wifey by my side.” He gave a proud glance to Hayley, who smirked in response. “Yes, we made a great team; the king and his queen.”
Elijah rolled his eyes, “As egotistical as ever, I see.”
“Oh, you should have seen him in the bayou,” Hayley chimed in with amusement. “His ego was out of control there, which was why we ended up looking like this.” She gestured to her dirty, tattered form, before turning to her husband, “You just couldn’t resist provoking those rogue wolves, could you Klaus?”
Niklaus frowned at her, “If I hadn’t done what I did, those pups would have reigned chaos down upon the Crescent Wolves. You should be thanking me for my diligent efforts to restore order to your pack, love.”
“Technically, it’s our pack, because we are married,” Hayley corrected him, “but yes, Klaus, you did well asserting dominance in the bayou. Gold star, A+ to you. Now can we please get some sleep? I’m beat.”
A lecherous grin spread upon Nicklaus’s lips then, “And who said I was about to allow you to sleep at all tonight, my little wolf? I am feeling rather ravenous.”
Hayley blushed under his gaze and then rolled her eyes exasperatedly, but she didn’t say anything for or against his suggestive comment. Instead, she simply grinned and did her best to ignore him, pretending he hadn’t said what he had.
“Actually, Niklaus,” Elijah stepped in. “Eternity and I would like to discuss something of great importance with you both.”
The grin upon his brother’s lips turned innocently playful then as his attention fell upon Elijah. “Oh? And what would that be?” He said with a teasing tone, gesturing between his big brother and Eternity. “Have you two decided to rekindle your romance? Or perhaps a step further and you’ve decided you can’t live without each other and you have chosen to elope? If it’s either of those things, I heavily approve.”
Elijah smiled at his little brother, while Eternity moved to stand beside him and placed her hand in his affectionately. He looked at her adoringly and then turned back to his brother to say, “No, not quite that. It is an urgent matter that has to do with young Hope.”
Immediately, the playful teasing was wiped from Nicklaus’s face. Both Hayley and he grew deadly serious as they drew closer to them. “What of my daughter?” Elijah’s brother quietly demanded. “What has happened?”
“Nothing,” he replied immediately to set his brother and sister-in-law to ease. “Eternity has merely come up with a solution to protecting Hope from the danger that she faces.”
Niklaus’s gaze fell to the shining immortal beside Elijah, “And what solution would that be?”
“There is a place I know, located here on Earth, that can protect your daughter against any threat from my wicked brother,” Eternity answered. “I can guarantee that the young one would be safe there, until the threat has passed.”
“This is a joke, right?” Niklaus stubbornly responded, looking between Elijah and Eternity. “Send my daughter away? That is your grand suggestion? Hell would have to freeze over before I would ever send my daughter away! No, out of the question!”
Eternity stepped forward a little with a stern expression. “Then you could potentially be sentencing your daughter to her death,” she said firmly. “Now is not the time for prideful stubbornness. This is a matter of life and death. I cannot remain here like some sort of sentinel forever. I have duties to attend to, as do my closet companions. We cannot be here to guard young Hope at all times. Bruno could attack at any moment. You must consider what is best for your child.”
“The only thing that is best for Hope is to be where I can protect her,” Niklaus ground out.
Hayley approached then, grabbing onto her husband’s arm, catching his attention.
“What? Don’t tell me you are actually considering this nonsense?” He said to her in agitated disbelief. “We are her parents, Hayley. She belongs with us, where we can keep her safe.”
“But we can’t keep her safe, Klaus,” the female hybrid replied gently. “This isn’t a threat from a wolf or a witch or a vampire. This is something we just are not capable of defeating. It’s beyond us. I think we should consider what Eternity is suggesting.”
“If it is being away from your child that you are so concerned about, Niklaus, I can assure you that separating you from her and her from you was never my intention,” Eternity interjected in an attempt to ease Elijah’s brother. “I wish to send you two there with her, so that you can look after Hope as you’ve always done, while her safety is maintained.”
Elijah watched as Niklaus settled a bit. His shoulders relaxed and he sighed deeply, as he considered the warrior queen. “And to where do you plan on sending us exactly?” He asked quietly, defeatedly.
“It is a secret organization, one that I helped found some time ago,” Eternity answered him readily. “It’s called the Underground Agency. It is the most secure place on Earth, run by super humans, as well as members of the supernatural community. Fortified like Fort Knox, it cannot be penetrated by anyone, especially not Bruno. Hope will be safe there.”
“And what of the rest of my family? What will become of them while we’re away, especially if your brother does come to call and finds Hope missing?” Niklaus demanded to know. “Shall I go and leave my family to die? Leave them to their fates? I think not.”
Eternity smiled reassuringly as she explained, “I admire your commitment to your family, but I highly doubt Bruno will attack here, if Hope is absent. We of the immortal classes have a special talent for sensing the life forces of others. If he cannot sense her here, then he will seek it elsewhere. However, to ensure that my brother doesn’t attack, I will simply have to devise a decoy to lead him astray. Your family will be safe in your absence, I promise.”
Niklaus was quiet for a time, looking down in contemplation. Then he looked between Hayley, Eternity, and Elijah. Finally, with a huff of defeat, he said, “Very well. At midday tomorrow, we shall go to this agency you suggest. We should let Hope say her goodbyes to her aunts and uncles.”
Elijah sighed a breath of relief, as did Hayley and Eternity. Each was glad that Niklaus saw reason in this. He watched as his younger brother took Hayley by the hand and lead her up the stairs, to their bedroom assumingely.
This left Elijah alone with Eternity once more. He wondered where to go from there. Now that they spoke sense into Niklaus, there wasn’t any reason to stay up. Their mission for the night had been completed. Yet, he didn’t want to part from Eternity. Through he knew that they were not quite ready to resume the physical aspect of their relationship, of course, having barely begun to reestablish their relationship on a whole, he wasn’t quite ready to say goodnight to her.
Then Eternity turned to him then with a soft smile and kissed his lips with willing sweetness, taking him by pleasant surprise. “I have to go,” she murmured to him reluctantly, with a knowing look in her eyes as if she had read his thoughts. “I must make preparations at the Underground Agency for our little family’s arrival,” Eternity explained, “but I shall return before midday. I’ll come back to you soon.”
Elijah didn’t like how she was coming and going so much, but knew that he had let her do what she must. So, with reluctance to see her go, he threaded his fingers through the hair framing her face and then cupped the back of her head, pulling her in for a more passionate kiss than the one she had given him before.
“Don’t keep me waiting for too long, Sweetheart,” he murmured against her lips, before parting from her completely.
She grinned at him, “I promise to be swift.”
Then Eternity vanished, leaving Elijah standing alone in the courtyard.
