So I have a friend that I refer to as my little sister, and she's scared of spiders. She earnestly believes that just speaking their name summons them, so she calls them 'demons' instead.

Last night, a few of us were playing a game and she said that our friend group is all demons. She made sure to clarify that demons aren't necessarily bad, and there's different types...

Me: "BET. If I'm gonna be a 'demon', I'm gonna be like a Lolth or Quelaag."

Little Sister: "Who's that? Are they [succubi]? Because you would definitely be a succubus."

*Everyone laughs (because it's true)*

Me, with a knowing smirk: "Eh... look them up."

Similar to how Gwyn's children have his name at the beginning, The Witch of Izalith's real name is Quela, and that's why the known names of her children all begin with that.

You know, I'm a poor writer, but if I weren't, I'd make a fanfic casting the Lords from Dark Souls as ascended dead souls after the apocalypse of our world, lucky schmucks who got their hands on the First Flame before anyone else but with no other real worthiness inherent to them. I'd use that as the reason why Gwyn and his ilk spontaneously acquired the trappings of European monarchy and warfare: one lucky soul thought about what "power" meant to them and poured that into the flame so it could shape them into Gwyn. Nito was a dead soul that found trying to create an imitation of life in this new era perverse, and became an avatar of death. The Witch of Izalith was a scholar who wanted to study and understand the new world she was in. And the Furtive Pygmy was a kind soul who simply wanted to share the gift of new life with the rest of humanity, even if their forms didn't and couldn't really resemble old-world humans, and Gwyn feared it for that.

17. Do you have a favourite piece of fan art?

There’s a lot of wonderful art I’ve seen for all the games, though if asked to pick just one I’d still go with hotspicyfishsoup’s Ciaran fancomic abysslost, it struck me so deeply when I saw the first couple pages, and is no joke responsible for making me realize creating art is the most important thing in my life. I admire her art a lot.

25. What is your least favourite boss?

I might have to go with Lud and Zallen, while not terrible in and of themselves, having to get through the hell that is frigid outskirts just to fight aava clone x2 is not my idea of a good time. I have a similar problem with blue smelter demon and iron passage. At least I can give the infamous bed of chaos points for being an interesting concept, no matter how poor the execution.

32. Who is your favourite Lord?

Hmmmm probably Lothric! I like the tragedy of him and his brother and how they cling to one another, and his rejection of his fate as a lord of cinder.
