Product Review: Window Solar Charger
Company/Website: Grouphug Solar
Does it work: Yes.  I tested it by using it to charge my cellphone.
Price: $149, I bought mine on sale for $129.
Operation: You’re looking at it. The button turns on yellow, red, or green LED lights that tell you whether the panel is getting enough light to operate, and how charged it’s (included) battery is, but it will charge your devices whether you ever push this button or not.
Assembly/Installation: Comes out of the box fully assembled as shown.  Stick the included suction cup to a window and hang it up.
Overall: I like it.  You get what you pay for.  It does one thing, but it does it well, and I’ve seen desk lamps that were more complicated to use.
I am not affiliated with Grouphug Solar, nor am I making any money off this.

thanks to my platonic wife @sga-owns-my-soul for telling me that I'm right and I should say it louder.
seriously like 80% of the problems in multiple galaxies are the Ancients' fault. they put humans on the iratus bug planet and made the wraith. they put humans on the goa'uld planet and made the goa'uld. they fucked up raising the replicators and made them vengeful and aggressive. they didn't take care of the handful of zealots now we're dealing with the ori. I didn't get through sgu but they probably caused problems in that galaxy. fuck the Ancients the only good things they did was the stargate system and building Atlantis
and we took over those. those are ours now. and we're using those tools better than the Ancients ever did.

my crack theory on what my brother and i chose to do with our lives is that my dad being an electrical engineer (in name but not so much in practice lol) rubbed off on the two of us in exactly opposite directions.
like i got the "ooo science math stem!!" side and am now pursuing biochem and my brother got the "building shit making stuff!!" side and is doing welding at the trade school.
and i think that's fun and cool. also my brother doing welding is very cool to me and it's definitely a "i have a cool big brother" moment for me which is kind of beside the point but worth mentioning if you ask me

I have somewhat calmed down (I'm still fucking pissed about it but not actively).
And here are the instructions for my panel HEATER that should require THREE buttons, for only THREE possible actions.
The instructions should be:
1.) Use the up arrow button to increase the temperature.
2.) Use the down arrow button to decrease the temperature.
3.) Use the ON/OFF button to turn the device on or off.
That is what the device needed, anybody could use it. And THESE "instructions" are what I got.
Tell me this isn't stupid, tell me this is necessary, tell me you find this useful.
This is so user unfriendly. So needlessly complicated. And for what? So that when someone comes to your home you get to flex how you can operate a fucking radiator.

Toward manufacturing semitransparent solar cells the size of windows
In an important step toward bringing transparent solar cells to home windows, researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a way to manufacture their highly efficient and semitransparent solar cells.
"In principle, we can now scale semitransparent organic solar cells to two meters by two meters, which brings our windows much closer to reality," said Stephen Forrest, the Peter A. Franken Distinguished University Professor of Electrical Engineering and corresponding author of a study published in Joule.
Traditional silicon-based solar cells are completely opaque, which works for solar farms and roofs but would defeat the purpose of windows. However, organic solar cells, in which the light absorber is a kind of plastic, can be transparent.
Organic solar cells have lagged behind their silicon-based cousins for energy-producing purposes due to engineering challenges such as low efficiency and short lifespans, but recent work out of Forrest's lab has achieved record efficiencies of 10% and estimated lifetimes of up to 30 years.
