On May 25, 1983, the original Star Wars trilogy concluded with Return of the Jedi (originally titled Revenge of the Jedi). The movie featured the first appearance of Jabba the Hutt, who had only been mentioned in New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. It also introduced new characters like the Ewoks. ("Return of the Jedi", Movie, Event).

Declan Mulholland was hired to play Jabba the Hutt in The Empire Strikes Back. He did a scene with Harrison Ford, complete with costuming and set. As it turns out, George Lucas was unsure how he was going to portray Jabba. He really didn't want a human to play him, he thought he would replace Declan in the scene with a stop-action animated Jabba. In the end he cut this scene and used a giant slug-like puppet as Jabba. Some say that Lucas did initially plan to have Declan play Jabba after William Hootkins turned down the role, but it wasn't working out with Declan.

Finished the Return of the Jedi radio drama. It was the weakest of the three. Like the movie. But it does have issues outside the general plot of the film. Notably, this was done in 96, a good 13 years after the Empire drama. That fudged production considerably, to the point where it's remarkable they got as many cast members back as they did. It's also only 6 episodes, making it barely longer than the film itself. The last half in particular feels very rushed (which depending on your take of the material, may not be too bad). Some notable stuff:
Hamill's gone. A shame since having him around lent some authority to the project (plus he's a good voice actor). New Luke is fine, but nothing special. Complain all you want about Perry King's Han, he at least makes the character his own.
Billy Dee Williams is gone and uh... they got Arye Gross? I'm sorry but I'm not here for White Lando. He suckssss. That Lando charm is totally absent.
If you hate Ewoks, good news! A good chunk of the Ewok scenes in the Battle of Endor are gone, probably because it's impossible to convey what the hell is happening in them in a non-visual format.
"Hehe, why didn't the Rebels just send a fleet to bombard Jabba's palace," well you get an explanation. Rebellion is monitoring a nearby Imperial blockade and couldn't spare enough ships to overcome Jabba's enforcers for hire. In fact, they use this blockade to trick said enforcers into thinking the Empire is raiding Jabba, causing his army to desert. This is 60 seconds of material, so I'm not spoiling much, but it is there!
Ed Asner is Jabba the Hutt. He's still speaking nonsense through a pitch shifter, so it was entirely unnecessary to cast anyone, but it's Ed Asner in there. I love that.
Boba Fett is Ed Begley Jr. (Jr.) (That's a Happy Endings reference)
Palpatine is fine. I don't think anyone could outdo Ian McDiarmid in crazy, so they don't really go for that angle.
Anthony Daniels, being the only film actor, is top billed.
I dunno, maybe Jedi is uniquely hard to adapt. So much of the finale is two separate battle sequences with lots of smaller episodes focusing on non main characters, or even characters who can't talk. It's also just a hard script to get excited about. You have a first half that's complete distinct from the back. You have an even sloppier twist that neuters the love triangle that they spent a good chunk of both this and Empire developing. I don't hate the Ewoks, but I don't love how much time is dedicated to them. And lastly you don't really get to feel Palpatine out before he basically takes over as antagonist. Doesn't help that this Palpatine isn't stone cold crazy.
All the same, if you listened to the first two Radio series... you may as well finish it?

Levin to Wellington, one EMU at a time - Greater Auckland
Instead of upgrading the Wellington region's suburban rail electrification system from 1,500V DC to 25 kV 50 Hz AC like the rest of the North Island Main Trunk, electricity lines companies can do a cheaper way by extending the Hutt Valley lines from the Upper Hutt to Masterton and the Kapiti lines from Waikaene to Palmerston North and make the Palmerston North station bigger to have one side for the AC electrification for the NIMT and another side for the existing DC electrification powering the Matangi EMU's serving Wellington's suburban rail network.

Start popping that corn… it’s summer, and Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group have a new animated special just around the corner; set shortly after the events of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ the latest entry in the popular branded cross-saga storytelling hits Disney+ Friday August 5.
Looking for a much-needed break from stormtroopers and TIE fighters, Finn arranges a surprise vacation for his friends Rey, Poe, Rose, Chewie, BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO, aboard the ultra-luxurious Galactic Starcruiser, the Halcyon. But Finn’s plan to have one last hurrah together quickly goes awry when he’s separated from the group. While searching for his friends, he encounters three Force ghosts: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Leia Organa, who each share their own unexpected stories of vacations gone wrong, helping him to understand that holidays are about more than just having fun.
LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation features the voices of “Weird Al” Yankovic as Vic Vankoh; Yvette Nicole Brown as Colvett Valeria; Thomas Lennon as Wick Cooper; Paul F. Tompkins as Rad; Dee Bradley Baker as Boba Fett; Ashly Burch as the Tour Droid; Kyliegh Curran as Sidero; Anthony Daniels as C-3PO; Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine; Allie Feder as Sy Snootles; Jake Green as Poe Dameron; Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker; Ross Marquand as Han Solo; Omar Miller as Finn; Kevin Michael Richardson as Jabba the Hutt; Matt Sloan as Darth Vader; James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi; Kelly Marie Tran as Rose; Helen Sadler as Rey Skywalker; Billy Dee Williams as Lando (Holovid); Matthew Wood as Ben Solo; and Shelby Young as Leia Organa. It also includes the new original song “Scarif Beach Party” performed by Yankovic.
The film is written and executive produced by David Shayne and directed by Ken Cunningham; James Waugh, Josh Rimes, Jacqui Lopez, Jill Wilfert, Jason Cosler, Keith Malone, and Jennifer Twiner Mccarron also serve as executive producers. LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation is produced in collaboration with Atomic Cartoons.

Cats Vienna, 11.06.2022
Didn’t plan to write an text today cause today was the Vienna Pride and I’m tired as fuck but some interesting things happened today. I make it short.
Carbucketty was played by Tommie Luyben. Think it was the first time for me seeing him in this role. He played him less proud and more fun than the other Carbuckettys.
After seeing the show so many times the moment when Tugger (a grown ass man in a cat suit) enters the stage and says Miau is still funny. Also: Love the choreo that the cats do during the part were Tugger would normally go into the audience. Great fan of the Vicky (Thomas) and Electra (Riddoch) interactions today during Tugger und Bustopher BFFs. Also loved how Bill (Luke) wanted to play with Jemima (Bertinshaw) at the end of the Tugger song but she ignored him and went up to Tugger to scream together with the other girls. He seemed kind of sad about it.
The last couple of times Tugger (Hees) kicked the ball in Munk’s direction (sitting on the tire. Today he had to duck. Tugger loves anoying Munk during his number.
During Bustopher Alonzo (Mandiadis) was “T-Posing” in the background. Bomba (Dam) walked up to him and he put one of is T-posing arms around her shoulder which was cute.
At the end of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer it looked like Mungojerrie (Majert) was sheltering/protecting Rumpleteazer (Rackham) from the others.
When Old Deut enters the stage, I love how Demeter (Vazzoler) makes the most dramatic bow for him ever. She really goes down to the floor.
During the Pekes and Pollicles Admetus (Li) bumped so hard into Mungo that he lost his dog hat.
Also, at the beginning when the girls lie next to Old Deut that always reminds me of Star Wars, were Leah sits next to Jabba the Hutt, lol.
When the queens sing their short Macavity song the others leave the stage but Chorus Gus (Martin) always waits for Jelly (Obermeier), takes her hand and they leave together.
Biggest surprise today: Pas de deux today was not Admetus and Vicky but Alonzo and Vicky. Alonzo went up to her and first I was like “move, boy, the pas de deux is starting” but then he started it and I was like “ooohhh”. Maniadis covers the Admetus/Macavity role so he knows it. Don’t know why they changed it today but I liked it quite a lot. Looked interesting because Vicky is white and Alonzo is black and white.
Also, front center is always Misto and Carbucketty, usually they both do their reversed body role but today Carbucketty didn’t do it but scretched Misto’s chest before cuddeling with Rump again.
Today during Skimbleshanks Carbucketty told Electra to misbehave and he was so proud of himself that he had to tell Rumple immediatly. Also: Coricopat (Batten) copied Skimble’s movement today. He sits behind him near Old Deut. Maybe he wants to follow in his footsteps. Next year: The Railway Cat pt. 2: Coricopat. Also at the beginning of the song Rumple and Mungo craweld under Munkustrap’s legs to get to Skimble. At first he seemed kind of annoyed but then he shrugged it off.
Today for the first time during Macavity I didn’t stare at Bomba and Deme the whole time but looked at the girls dancing in the back and the choreo is really cool too. Have to look it up online or in the 1998 movie again. Really liked it.
Love how Peploe-Williams when she plays Cassandra always checks on Demeter when she’s freed from Macavity.
Normally at the end of Mistoffelees Alonzo and Admetus lift him up but today it was Alonzo and Carbucketty.
When Grizabella (Filipcic) was accepted back into the tribe, she took Demeters face between her hands and Demeter did her dramatic bow again, the same one she does for Old Deut. I really do love how Vienna plays her relationship to Munk, Griz and Mac (they get that she’s the main character, lol).
During the bows Jelly took and Rainbow Flag out with her and waved it. Very much appreciated. I like.

i had so much fucking fun at comic con and so here’s a mini presentation of my pride and joy, my son, my creation, my lidl-mini-prize-packs-of-air-drying-soft-clay-made worm from labyrinth ( to complete my sarah cosplay ) (( also according to wiki fandom his name is william though it’s never stated in the movie so take that as you will ))
Tumblr media
he is absolutely mortifying ( there’s something about that mouth and also the lack of cheeks ) as i have literally no previous sculpting experience but i love him dearly non the less; on the bottom part i put a magnet that would attach itself thr other magnet placed under my vest to make him sit on my shoulder - basically like a shoulder buddy ( man i used to be obsessed with those ) - like so :
Tumblr media
the quality of this picture is not as good ( and also i doodled over it to blur the people in the back ) but yeah he just looks like he’s whispering shit into my ear. 4 different people took him for jabba the hutt ( which, fair enough i guess 😭 ) (( also partially because i have a braid that people took for a padawan braid )) BUT as i was heading out a lady from one of the stands recognized him? me ?us 🤝and said that labyrinth was her childhood and i should also watch legend (1985) . she asked to take a picture and it was just such a wholesome interaction :))
