dont put me in a graveyard

instead of my dead body feeding a greedy industry, i want my dead body to feed a forest. i personally think we should have 'burial orchards' where people can have a burial with compostable clothing and a mycelium casket from Loop, with a fruit free planted on top, and an engraved plaque as a headstone. between each grave, other beneficial plants that co-exist with the fruit trees. these would then be appointed as areas not allowed to be chopped or dug up, making it a protected food forest for the dead to rest and the living to celebrate their loved ones. doesnt that sound wonderful though?

I have found that the biggest deterrent to assholes is asking "why?" Over and over.

"We can't have universal healthcare!"

Why?

"Because I don't wanna pay for a strangers health!"

Why?

"Because if they can't afford their own health care that isn't my problem!"

Why?

And so on and so on. Keep making them dig. Keep making them explain until they can't anymore and are faced with nothing but the ugly mask of bias and prejudice. Only then can they truly see that taking it off is an option. Whether they do or not is up to them. And that choice tells you whether they deserve more of your energy or not.

Trans kids can't be trans. Why? Why not? Why?

Free food is bad for ppl. Why? Why? Why? Why is feeding ppl bad?

Why?

Why is helping one another bad?

Why is doing what humans are genetically designed to do, to help and care for one another to ensure survival, bad?

i wrote this as a joke because I wanted to strangle a guy watching tiktoks without headphones on the bus, but im genuinely disturbed that we've gotten to a point where convenience comes first. and it depresses me even more that its used to justify and monetize greed

#like we have so many ways of doing things that could help us in the long run but because we're told it requires more work we just cant #its too resource intensive. or maybe its too much to maintain. we have to overlook benefits so money can go into more important things #we teach each other to do things a certain way so it works for everyone but who was it convenient for first? what abt who it might hurt?#i have to wonder if the rules our current system uses is worth listening to or following if it doesnt have our best interests in mind. u an #me and the ppl around us.. would we be better off if i ate my meals knowing the person who grew it wanted to feed others the way they could #feed themselves? and that isnt to say we're going to be happy doing it but i guess satisfied that its helping someone instead of quietly #accepting that itll eventually go in the dumpster behind a grocery store because it stopped looking appetizing or it wasnt on sale anymore #what about building homes so we can shelter each other? what if we were satisfied with what we did because we knew it would be paid back #with kindness? isnt that what we evolved to do?? heal each others bones and tell stories and help each other??#why dont houses come with solar panels or generators unless we find a way to make people pay to use the sun? why is our pooled money used #to fund genocides instead of education and hospitals? whose interests and convenience came first when we started this??#i wont pretend to know the answer because i dont. but we all know we're miserable and im sorry to say that i cant see myself fighting #for a world that wont fight for me too. why do we work if we cant live from it?? why did they stop us from plucking more teeth from our #bosses until they could build more walls around themselves and then go back to underpaying us??#im so tired. i cant even imagine making it to age 70 #yapping #vent

Maybe I’m biased bc I’m a pre-med w a biochemistry degree but I really do recommend Richard Harris’s Rigor Mortis to anyone who’s even remotely interested in biomedical research / the progress in that field

it's basically the same explanation as in the manga, but the anime has made it easier for me to understand what Kabru's beef is with the Touden siblings, and I think that explanation was really well done

#in the manga i was like 'he doesnt like them... because they give their money away??'#but here its much clearer. he doesn't like them because they just straight up funded an underground crime ring #and they didn't know and kabru knows they didn't know #but it's that lack of thought of what the consequences might be of their actions that he really doesnt like #and its such a nice breakdown of a complicated situation #because WE have spent the entire last season falling in love with these siblings and their autistic tendencies #but kabru's brand of neurodivergence is figuring out how people work and understanding social dynamics #he cares so deeply about the dangers a dungeon brings to the humans involved #and understanding how everyone inside and outside a dungeon does what they do and why #and then these two very capable tallmen siblings waltz into town... and they just dont give a shit #they're changing the social environment so much without giving it any thought. thats got to be incredibly grating #/I/ find it annoying when people wont think critically about things i love to think critically about!!#anyway. i love kabru. i love that we're going to start seeing more of him. love that the anime fans are going to fall in love with him too #if they havent already

#the funny thing is this would almost have to star shen jiu as haruhi?#if we're looking at the one poor kid among all the rich trust fund babies #either that or SY and SJ have to be the twins‚ which does do weird things to the different roles & relationships #like. if SJ does not come from a street kid background then why is he Like That #hmm maybe there was a Parent Trap situation where the twins got split up between the parents #and SY went with a parent who was fairly decent and SJ went with a parent who was ... not #and they were reunited in high school?#they wouldn't be able to pull off the Hitachiin interchangeable double act #but they might get some mileage out of a good twin-bad twin act instead #okay let's try SY and SJ as the twins and Luo Binghe as Haruhi #Yue Qingyuan as the well-meaning but kind of a himbo club leader #Liu Qingge as Mori perhaps? he doesn't fit great as Kyouya -- not manipulative enough #But then again Shang Qinghua and Mobei-jun would best fit Hani and Mori's weird codependency thing #so that does leave the role of the SIC for Liu Qingge #I don't think the roles all line up exactly -- we may have to combine or split out some #I feel like the demon characters have got to be in some kind of a rival club #but it's been a while since I've seen OHSHC so I can't recall most of the plotlines #either way Luo Binghe accidentally breaks something #and gets co-opted into the host club to work off his debt #this solution was proposed by SY and Luo Binghe went '....okay!'#then unfortunately. he met shen jiu #ouran high school host club crossover #scum villian self saving system

I think part of the reason that media literacy sucks is that its supposed to be taught in English class

but they use fucking shakespeare and other old ass books

they use media that is hard for students to understand (especially if they have a learning disability or English as a second language)

and they have to explain all of the cultural context surrounding the media to a bunch of teens that dont care

use modern media that your students can understand that exists in the same context as they do

#hell get them to analyze a marvel movie #have them think about the way the military is portrayed in military funded movies #Have them draw conclusions on why they keep pumping out movies with huge budgets even though theyre getting lower quality #this is coming from someone who enjoyed most of the books we read in English #im canadian so thats the only education system im talking about #media literacy
