there's so many popular repetitive video games that seem so boring to play, but then I watch people stream them with a group of friends, and they make it seem so fun just because the people playing are so lively and goofy and funny. I want that. I want to be part of a group of streamers or at least group of friends that make receptive and otherwise boring games fun and hilarious. a group that's not boring, serious, competitive. one that cares more about having fun and laughing than completing the video game objective 😭
#like the currenr one lethal company#it doesnt look fun at all and looks like it would get boring fast. UNLESS you have hilarious friends to laugh with#which i lack. i dont have enough friends and most people i know and would play co op games are too serious and boring#people probably think the same of me. im generally quiet and confused when playing games and bad at them#usually people get mad at me for being bad or goofing around so its never fun. but the fun people never invite me#probably because they thjnk im the boring one. but i absorb energy like a sponge!!!!! be silly and funny and i will too!#i really need a group of people with great silly fun energy who i csn feed off of. i miss laughing. i need to laugh. i never laugh anymore😐#lee rambles#every time i tried playing with people i know I honestly got so bored. I feel bad because they're the only ones nice enough to play with me.#but they're too serious and not funny. so I haven't played with them in like a year at least and am afraid to ask lmao#why do the silly fun people avoid me and only the serious boring people would agree...i need an energy boost#i need a person to be my battery. where do i get a battery#want to play l4d2 again. its been a while. its so hard to fill the lobby and the couple people that used to play with me arent funny 😅#if i could get a group of silly funny weirdos together then id try lethal company. but i wont try with boring groups#there's so many games i bought to play with people and got ditched that could use a goofy group too. sighs.#why am i still rambling. i dont even have the energy to speak to multiple people at once and play a game#but maybe that's why i need a battery#anyway i kinda really miss doing silly goofy rp and regular gaming hasnt been able to replace the laughter that brought me 😭😭#i need a good laugh. cant remember last time i laughed until i cried. laughing makes me feel good for a bit sighs. someone make me laugh pls

Headcanons for Tokis childhood and deathcurse
TW:child abuse
Toki is an angel of death, not in the sense that he CAUSES death, but he is always around people when they dies because he is the angel that guides them to the afterlife. We can see this with Juliette in dethkids, his friend father dethlessons, his dad in dethdad and his cat in dethhealth. They were all sick and dying beforehand (cancer with the little girl and his dad and an unnamed illness with the friend father) Toki was just the angel that guided them to death. Even the cat had a “little bit of a cough” in the beginning of the episode, Toki just gave him its send off. How brutal a persons death is indicates if they go to heaven or hell, if they die peacfully, they go to heaven, if they die a slow and agnozing brutal death, well, you know…
Tokis parents were abusers. I hate the narrative that Tokis parents were justified in their abuse and torture of little Toki because they were simply trying to prevent his death curse when in reality, Toki lived in a cult and his parents were abusive, his parents would have abused and tortured him death curse or not.
However, I do believe the village and caught on to the fact that Toki was always suspiciously present when someone died. There were alot of deaths in the village, not because of Toki, but because they wouldve died anyway, the winters were very harsh and the commune was very cruel. Deaths plauged the village but now they had someone to blame it on. The village thusly ostracized Toki for suspicion that he may be the cause of the deaths, leading Toki with no one to surround himself but his parents. Toki rarely got to play with kids his own age as they quickly learned to stay away from the “cursed boy”, it was based partly in hatred, but more so in genuine religious fear that they had done something wrong and had pissed off the gods, who had now sent them a cursed child to pay for their sins. Toki now has to spend most of his free time at home doing chores instead of singing in the choir with the rest of the little boys.
This is oddly enough the only time his parents show true compassion and defend their son. Less because they actually care about him, more because claiming that they birthed a devil child is a direct insult to them and calls into question their own souls and associations with the devil. Little Toki is confused and untrustworthy of his parent’s reactions and internalizes the remarks and treatment (or lack thereof) from the village and wish his parents would punish him harder to cleanse his impure soul. His parents do treat him slightly worse when a member of the village dies, but they also comfort him and defend him from attacks, which confuses poor little Tokis mind even further. They do this because a small part of them believes that Toki is really a devil child, so he must be punished to keep him in check and to pay for his sins, but he also must be comforted and taken care of so that he doesn’t lash out at them and take their souls + they genuinely feel bad for him being isolated (its a cult, the worst thing for a member to face isnt abuse and torture, its isolation from the commune, they have very confusing morals) a big part of them is still convinced that Toki is a normal regular village child however, thusly they treat him how the rest of the village children are treated, which is very badly. (I still want to emphasize that this is a cult and his parents are still abusers, they still wouldve abused and tortured him just as harshly if he wasnt a demigod, and they dont abuse and torture him because hes a demigod, him being a demigod just changes *how* they specifically go about it, and because of the religous aspects of their cult, if they were fully convinced that Toki was a devil child and caused the deaths of the village members they would have just sacrificed him in the name of god.)
Adult Toki is quite the extrovert, which seems normal on the surface, but he is also extremely codependent and starts to loose it when he is isolated for extended periods of time, wether socially or physically, which leads to him trying to find companionship in *anyone* good OR bad if dethklok ignores him for too long. Like Rockso for example. He also blames himself for any type of social failing or isolation to an unhealthy degree. Now that Toki is an adult playing sinful music, spreading devilish messages and causing mass chaos and destruction with his band makes his parents fully convinced that he is the son of the devil and they wish that they had killed him when they had the chance. Now they are too scared to do so.

This may seem a little but out of left field on my part, but I don't have many writer friends who I can ask, and there's no obligation to reply or indulge me 💜
I've recently got back into writing (not marvel, unfortunately, but I really admire the way you write) and was wondering if you maybe had any tips? I struggle a bit with, well, dialog and lack confidence - and your works are always so stunningly spot-on and evocative that I kinda just had to ask. Again, no worries if you dont want/have time to answer!
(Also I hope you are well!)
That is so wonderful! I absolutely love hearing that someone has decided to return to writing or is trying it out! I've been passionate about writing since I was 5, so I will always encourage other writers! And I feel so honored that you would even ask and that you feel that way about my writing! ❤ Thank you!! 😭
I will start out by saying I am not going to claim that I am by any means a writing expert, but I will say I did study it (I have an M.A. in Literature, Rhetoric, & Composition) and I've been writing fanfic for a long time, which comes into play with my writing (obviously). But believe me, I am always learning new things and growing myself. Writing truly is a skill and you can absolutely improve it with practice--I've noticed a change in mine over the past year even. Also, what works for me isn't necessarily what might work for you or others, but I can share some things I do myself, or that I enjoy seeing in fanfics/books, or what I think tends to be beneficial. I will say I know my writing style tends to be sparse and dialogue driven/heavy, which isn't necessarily how you or anyone else reading this might write.
And since this will probably be long and not something everyone cares to read, I'll put it below the cut. But as a note, I'm also writing these tips not knowing what you already know or do, so please do not take offense if they're obvious to you and nothing new!
I think the first and most important thing is to know your characters well, especially when it comes to dialogue. So if you're writing fanfic, I'd say study the source material a bit, see how someone speaks, pick up on any mannerisms or particular phrases they might typically use and when they use it if you don't already feel like you have them down. As for any original characters, Readers, or side characters, I'd say make sure you know them, too. Obviously an anxious character for example isn't going to speak boldly--unless there's a reason for it. So you always want to make sure it seems realistic (at least to you and how you perceive your characters) that they would say whatever they're saying in the situation that they're saying it.
I also find it helps to read dialogue aloud once you've written it. Does it sound like something someone would say in real life? Generally people in conversation don't always respond in full or proper sentences, for example. And I personally do this when it comes to writing Michael Kinsella or Frank Castle sometimes (I feel like I've written for Matt long enough that I literally can hear him in my head just fine 😅). They all have a sort of rhythm to the way they speak and I tend to go back and edit dialogue if it sounds too wordy or unlike the cadence of their speech (but that's also me being super particular 😅). But sometimes reading it aloud might help you realize if it sounds awkward or long winded or too clipped. Or maybe even too heavy of a reaction to what was said before someone's response.
Don't forget to change up your dialogue tags!! You can easily search up a list of dialogue tags (sometimes I do because my brain can't remember the correct one I want), but just make sure you're not trying to use them to add 'flair' to your writing, they have to make sense. Good ol' 'said' is truly just fine sometimes, but sometimes a particular dialogue tag makes a HUGE difference.
Sort of going along with that, it really makes a difference if writers have interrupters in their dialogue when it feels right. Don't overdo it, but definitely don't forget about it if you're comfortable using it. So if your characters are having a conversation, sometimes they won't just be standing there speaking, right? They might be doing something--like making coffee or folding laundry--and adding that in as they're speaking really helps set a scene. It's also incredibly great to add in minute details about facial expressions, tone change, body language shifts in the middle of sentences or between them. Because maybe the character speaking is getting angry, or the one doing the listening is having some sort of reaction to what is being said.
Dialogue should also generally always serve a purpose, which should help give you an idea of what to write and when. Is someone confiding something in someone? Having an awkward first meet? Calling to set up a date? Someone says something and it sparks a fight? Two characters are just being silly? There should always be a reason characters are conversing (which is sometimes just helping readers understand a personality trait about someone or learning a key detail about something), even if you have to throw in pleasantries or other things first that make sense before you can get the conversation to that point. And sometimes that's actually a fun challenge to figure out how to get there 😆
Off the top of my head, that's what I can think of for tips on dialogue at the moment. Hopefully at least some were helpful and not just old news to you. Obviously I also recommend editing a fic and giving it a reread at least once before posting, too. I'm insanely particular so I might edit something like 5 times before it goes up (and then still miss things). I just think that's a good way to catch errors or repeat words or ideas that might throw a reader out of the story.
As for the confidence to share your writing (or so it seems you meant, correct me if I'm wrong), honestly you just have to put it out there if that's what you want to do. I mean, don't feel obligated because you can certainly just write for yourself, but I'm not really sure what other advice to give on that unfortunately. I think any writer just takes the plunge. Sometimes a story flops, sometimes it gets a good reaction. Just try your best to not let it get to you if it doesn't go the way you hope (though whoever says it doesn't is lying because it is still rough to put so much effort into something and feel like it fell flat). But know you're not alone on that because there isn't a fic writer I know who doesn't get that feeling. Famous published authors even feel that way. We can't please everyone, but just try to have fun with it and don't take it too seriously at the end of the day. Do your best to ignore the negative feedback because for every one rude reader there will be multiple others who enjoy what you're doing. Try to focus on that!
But obviously, just have fun. Tell the story you want to read ❤

By request, rebloggable version of my thoughts on whether sometimes God will afflict non-believers to get them to repent and turn to Him:
A couple caveats before I explain this:
1. I do not believe every instance of a nonbeliever suffering is inherently a direct punishment from God and i would strongly caution people from using this logic 99% of the time--we live in a fallen world and the consequence of that is pain and brokenness for everyone regardless of faith or lack there of 2. However, as believers we do have assurance from God that whatever pain or brokenness we do go through is 100% not a punishment from God. We will absolutely incur pain and brokenness in our lives but God has promised to use it for our good and His glory (Romans 8:1, Romans 8:32, Romans 8:28). 3. The original question was in reference to a specific situation in which i am privy to a lot of information on a very personal and long term-level. In this particular situation I absolutely believe this is what is happening but would normally not come to this conclusion (in fact it took me a long time to come to this conclusion and even now I am hesitant to declare it) and again would caution people to pray and meditate on things VERY CAREFULLY before coming to this conclusion in yours/others' lives let alone sharing it with them/others
I would say there is biblical precedent for this though, like Saul of Tarsus pre-conversion. God had to physically blind him and knock him off of his horse before he was humbled enough to stop his persecution and give his life to Christ. Or even figures like Pharaoh who let his people suffer through terrible plagues before he was humbled enough by his own suffering to let the Jewish people flee Egypt. This last part is really hard to understand if you haven't fully internalized the character of God and His sovereignty but I'm going to try and explain this too because this is the most important part and the crux of this explanation:
God is good. Like He is everything good and just and holy and kind and perfect. We need him more than anything else in this world. He is the highest good that can ever be achieved. He is not like human beings with flawed and selfish motives. If you told me that any human being in your life: parent, sibling, friend, spouse etc. deliberately let you suffer so that you would have to rely on them totally i would call them crazy and abusive--these are flawed, and sinful human beings. To do something like that would require a large amount of pride and delusion on an unreal level. They aren't perfect, they dont have all the answers, they are biased, no human being could ever be the highest good in someone elses life like that.
But that isn't God. He is good and perfect. He does know all the answers, He is not biased, He always makes the right decisions. He is without flaw. He is your creator and sustainer and is thus the only thing even remotely qualified to be the highest good in your life. Doing whatever it takes to get you to see Him directly is a net benefit TO YOU. You can take some comfort in suffering and affliction particularly as a believer because God cares enough to use it to help you get closer to Him and His perfect love and care rather than let you continue in ignorance unafflicted.

so I have a friend who ghosted me twice and I know the easy answer to this is cut them off … yes but it’s not as easy because we did communicate and it just sucks that I had to find out she got engaged through rumors and we saw each other a few times then she ghosted bc she called off her own wedding so I gave her the spce she needed but you know it’s been two years she been dragging this same excuse instead of asking for help I offered but still she insisted that she suppress it anyways fast forward I find out she gets married through social media . I just want to know if I’m on the wrong for reacting and being frustrating with her . We spoke even before and she failed to update me and now that I confronted she keeps justifying her ghosting by say life happens it’s about practicality also the fact that everyone has a reason that’s not known to one another just to justify her not communicating with me and ghosting . What can I say to her ! Any thoughts and I just want to know if I’m
So, I’m going to make multiple points here and look at some of these points from a variety of angles but i will just say before anything as a disclaimer I’m seeing it as one guy with very little context. All things like this are entirely case by case and you would know this person better than me so anything i say just take with a pinch of salt.
I think whats best to really consider is a) the reason she ghosted you particularly. Was it you amongst many others or was it you because of a significance you play in complicating their emotions etc. b) how close you were.
The simple answer aside from cutting this person off is as an outsider looking in it doesn’t really look like she owes you anything. Whilst i risk sounding blunt saying this I’m a firm believer in the fact no one is owed or should expect anything. It’s decency to get an explanation and i would hope you would get one. I have been ghosted by people very close to my heart and the one thing that hurt was the lack of explanation, i just wake up and bam I’m blocked. But whilst its nice to get one by no means would anyone have to nor would they have to ask you for help.
Now context is paramount as if you are being blocked along with 50 people then that would suggest she just wants to be alone and maybe doesnt want to have to tell the whole world updates on her life. Getting married is a massive commitment which im sure is exhausting enough so maybe thinking to explain it to people you dont have to isnt the most appealing as it probably gets to a point where it becomes exhausting going through the motions of telling someone again.
By contrast again contextually dependant maybe she is blocking you specifically because you play that role in complicating emotions.
Additionally how did you approach the subject when you knew? If this person is struggling to stay afloat did you go to them with support and excitement of their news or did you immediately go with hostility and confront them? As if this was the case it could play support to why she struggles to communicate with you. These things go both ways and its definitely worth looking back on how you acted to see if you were the most approachable version of yourself.
Alternatively maybe you were approachable and understanding and supportive and maybe the reality of all this is that you deserve better and people who treat you to the same high regard in which you treat them.
Ive been in your position and i truly do understand how you feel and what i have discussed above is things i found years later when reflecting on the way i acted and by no means is intended to be intentionally challenging.
To summarise, people don’t owe you shit, know your worth, however if you truly feel mistreated as hard as it is and i know it is, it might be time to throw in the towel on this one.
I hope this had helped and provided some insight as an outsider looking in and i hope its maybe provided a new perspective to become either more understanding or to clarify emotions you already felt. I wish you all the best.

L could never win on his own
recently rewatched death note with the roommates cuz one of them hadn't seen it before and ended up in a bit of a debate over the second half of the show. (spoilers ahead)
essentially the sides boiled down to the fact that after a rewatch i really appreciate the second half of death note (even tho its rushed and got some holes) bc i don't think L could have beat Light. and this isnt out of hatred for L. i LOVE L. to an insane degree. my roommate did not agree with this idea of L not being able to win tho.
basically the way i see it is there's a couple things against L winning:
hes too close to the case and the criminal, to the point where he considers the perpetrator a friend
he doesnt have all the cards in hand to solve the case
Light holds all the power. all of it.
for point one you gotta understand that i believe L is a bit more emotional than Near ends up being (a different convo is the split of L's personality between Mello and Near). he's so unused to having someone next to him or on the same level that he's a bit emotionally affected (as much as he might tell himself he's not) by potentially accusing someone who is his friend. he actually says this in the show: "that is, it would be a problem if you WERE Kira, because i feel you're the first friend ive ever had". he also explicitly states that the case not going his way makes him depressed and sort of ruins his ability to do things. there are limits to how logical L is. Near ends up being able to cut himself off from emotion a bit more because he's grown up with Mello and had to compensate for Mello's extreme emotional outbursts, imo. that's strike one against L being able to effectively solve this case.
point 2: L doesnt have all the cards and he knows it. he's not playing with a full deck, whereas Light has pretty much all the cards and all the information since he's both an investigator AND the villain. this is an interesting callback to one of the first meetings of Light and L where L gives Light 3 photographs and asks him to interpret them (then later revealing there were actually 4 photographs and Light should have known). idk if this counts as irony or just dramatic irony and foreshadowing but its definitely interesting.
this lack of cards leads to L having to take risks during the investigation that are life-and-death for him, whereas for Kira, most of the risks he takes can be solved by killing someone if it goes wrong, or manipulating a shinigami into doing something for him.
point 3: because L doesnt have all the cards, and Light has all the power, he stands no chance. Light can control people in death, he's also a master manipulator who has wrapped around his finger: 1) all his classmates and community, 2) his family, specifically his father, 3) the entire task force, 4) an entire news station and a good portion of the internet, 5) a literal GOD OF DEATH. TWO OF THEM. (Rem moreso than Ryuk but Ryuk is still manipulated a few times via apples and the promise of seeing more human action). 6) the Japanese police, 7) the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 8) the second Kira/Misa, 9) another unhinged Kira in Mikami, 10) a news anchor/woman who loves him? and later 11) basically all of Japan/the world. he can afford to take risks as his power grows. (this power and cockiness is eventually his downfall but he's held in check by the mental chess game with L.)
with all of this, L didnt stand a chance. but a lot of it was because of his unique situation and proximity to Light. Near and Mello, on the other hand, had outside distance from the case. they were wild cards that eventually ended up causing Light to break (partially because he saw too much of L in them).
so L could never win on his own. but it still took two geniuses to match his power, which i think is a testament to how cool L is as a character.
i dont think this is enough to convince my roommate but i figured i'd write it down anyway and yall can judge me

Ok ok sorry for spam posting my account but these are thoughts I must get down before I forget them. I'll put them under the cut so you don't have to read my ramblings lol
But, if you want to see my interpretation of a scene that lasts maybe ten seconds at most, I'm your fella!
I love the scene right after Hiccup, Toothless, and Astrid get back from the nest. Astrid is ecstatic and ready to tell the Chief the minute they land. But Hoccup doesn't want to. Astrid of course gets upset by this (understandably so. This information could put an end to the war they've fought for generations and Hiccup wants to keep it a secret?) and starts getting a tad agressive as Astrid is want to do.
And what does Hiccup do?
Tumblr media
He responds in the most serious manner we've seen from him for the whole movie. His face is completely cold, lacking any of the sympathy or warmth we've come to know from Hiccup. In fact, he looks angry that Astrid would even suggest he put Toothless' life on the line for this. And that alone tells a story. In the span of a few seconds, his face and tone set the building blocks for the rest of the franchise.
His heart is with the dragons.
And think about it, he has good reason to place his heart in those talons. His whole life, humans have done nothing but hurt him. He grew up being tormented by Dagur. He was bullied endlessly by his peers. The adults of his tribe pushed him aside because he was different, because he was small. His own father had a hard time understanding him because he wasn't an average viking.
Toothless was the first creature to look at him and not see a failure.
Once he trusted him, Toothless gave him endless love. He placed enough trust in Hiccup to let him fly with him, to help him. He accepted Hiccup helping him through one of his inventions. He accepted Hiccup.
Toothless was more than his first friend. He was the first one to see Hiccup as more than useless.
This tone is carried out through the franchise. Through the shows and into the sequel (excluding 3. Again, haven't seen it, probably not going to) we see Hiccup's desire to be useful shine through. He stutters around his friends, trying to defend the idea of his flight suit. He overworks himself to try and one up Viggo. He gets tense and awkward and explaining to Valka how he shot Toothless down, quickly rushing to defend himself because he doesn't know how she'll react. He's grown used to negative reactions. It's like second nature to rush out an explanation or a defense for his thoughts and actions.
But with Toothless? He's visibly at ease. When the flight suit doesn't quite work how it's suppose to (in both rtte and httyd2), he just laughs it off and shrugs, already thinking up ways to make the solo flying better. He understands the tone and body language of Toothless-so much so that he can pretty much tell what Toothless is saying and pary his own response to it.
Dont get me wrong, he loves his friends, and he loves his people! But you can't just erase years of trauma. Especially when you a)don't have access to therapy and b)push all your feelings to the way side (which, let's be honest, he does both. There are times in rtte where Astrid has to pry the answers out of him).
So yeah this was my thoughts on this scene. Am I projecting a little bit? Mayhaps. But what is a skrunkly for if not an outlet and tool to healing your own trauma/inner child?

Hi!
I loved everything you already shared about the poll with us. I would be super interested if you could share some of the ideal endgame scenarios people envisioned and if they correlated with other aspects(specifically ship preference and liking house Stark)
Hi! I am extremely sorry for how long this has taken. Things have been busy and this took more time than I thought it would. In all truth there weren't that many correlations when it came to ship and preference. My biggest surprises were that both, in the Iron Islands and the North, people would prefer him to be in a non-ruling position, that the option "At the Wall" was so popular, and that the option of him becoming Bran's prophet was shown a lot more love than what I usually perceive in fandom.
To be honest I think this was the most entertaining ask I've gotten about the survey and it was nice to embark on a slightly more complex mini-project.
Tumblr media
Other data for reference: The overall House Stark score out of the 109 people (that is counting my irls) who gave a punctuation was of ~6,22/10
Tumblr media
Also fun enough out of the 1/10 voters six of them were my Stark-hating irls whom I dearly love for their extremist tendencies/j jdsghfjsdhf
Numbers regarding most and least liked ships (including my irls):
Tumblr media
Also, once again, this is a mix of interpretations and ideas and please be mindful of not publicly shaming someone who can't defend themselves. If I could keep the bitterness down so can you. Bitch about it with your mutuals and friends (also me if you really need someone) but don't go around publicly mocking those who were kind enough to offer me their insight.
Shipping, pro/anti-House Stark views and other tendencies in preferred endgames:
King/Lord of the Iron Islands
Average House Stark score was of ~5,0/10 and surprisingly Thenye and Greysnow people were more present in this group (9/13 Greysnows and 10/23 Theynes) while the rest were lacking (8/46 throbbs, 3/14 thamsays, 1/10 theonsas and two other voters didn't pick any ships. Book vs Show people were distributed proportionately although when it came to themes, people who chose Nr. 4 Suffering, redemption vs irredeemability, accountability over past misdeeds were more inclined to pick this option (17/23 counting my irls).
hmphhhh…difficult things here. i know what i dont want but......was it you tereshkova who said satisfaction doesnt know its own shape, or was it đặng? nothing new you already know my ideas. more than anything id like to see him in environments that are stressful but emotionally cathartic. you told me about the fandom-cottage thing and….naaaahhhhh…i dont like it. if he has to have a life of idleness id want that to be unsatisfactory for him. i think having him as an advisor or ruler in the islands is still my favourite endgame but only if hes allowed to do things. his time with the starks and the boltons might make him reflect on ironborn culture and his own (exaggerated) views on it. politically he could try to adopt a more centrist position on old-new-way and hopefully make some reforms about the rape culture and thralldom. i want him to go on long walks at the beach late at night with jeyne, falia, wex, qarl and tris. i think he deserves real friends. oh and i want him to kill ramsay. rip you and your christian dogma but im different.
Puppet King/Lord of the Iron Islands
Average House Stark score of ~6,1/10 with no strong shipping preferences. Asha wasn't in the top 5 POV characters of many, but most of those who picked her were also inclined to this possible endgame, which I found curious and those who were particularly interested in many Theon & Greyjoy relationships were also majorly present in this group.
Non-ruling position in the Iron Islands
No tendencies at all. This answer was picked by more than half of those who responded the question and it was a complete mix when it came to ships and themes of interest. Something that was quite shocking to me though was House Stark's average score of ~8,9/10.
At the Wall
I would have expected Greysnow people to be more fond of this option yet only 6/13 picked it and it somehow still managed to be the second most popular one. The average score for House Stark was a high one too, ~8,4/10, and in all truth there weren't many remarkable things perhaps with that this group was composed mostly of people who first engaged with the books before the show (36/53), which was uncommon compared to the other answers and that half of the thramsay shippers (7/14) also picked this option.
Exiled/in Essos
There wasn't anything disproportionate when it came to ships but a tendency I found interesting was how many of the TCK's (11/15, counting my irls) were fond of this concept. This is also one of the few subsets in which Daenerys found a warmer welcome compared to Sansa (who was still loved but had less sympathisers than usual). The House Stark score had an average of ~4,9/10, which was lower than I'd have expected, and 17/26 voters (≈ 65,3%) were of the mind Theon could have adapted to the Iron Islands while only 6/26 (≈ 23%) were against that concept.
Bro I can’t fathom how you're twisting and turning with this question kkkkkkk (ノ_<。)ヾ(´ ▽ ` ) Purely wish-fulfilment and only wish-fulfilment I’d want him to go somewhere where the title of perpetual stranger won’t contradict his own perception of self. Somewhere where he can only be considered as a stranger but it won’t clash with a false sense of home. We’ve discussed Braavos and you made me curious with your talk of Lorath as places of escapism that are thematically meaningful and rehab and therapy away from war and toxic people would do him well. AND HE HAS TO TAKE JEYNE WITH HIM HE PROMISED HE PROMISED HE HAS TO KEEP ONE FUCKING PROMISE IN HIS LIFE
Advisor/Hand/Servant in Winterfell
House stark average score of ~7,2/10, responders were also fond of him staying in a non-ruling position in the North (23/26 voters picked that option too). This time there was a strong current of shippers: 14/26 voters picked throbb as their preferred ship (~30,4% of all throbb people) and 7/26 voters picked theonsa (=70% of all theonsa people). Unlike the previously mentioned option, it was Sansa who had the most sympathisers here with Daenerys being perceived as a villain by 7/26 of the voters and six being alright with her possible descent into madness. Sansa however had 15/26 voters rooting for her to become Queen in the North and only 4/26 voters being accepting of darker twists in her storyline.
Non-ruling position in the North
This is the group that gave the highest scores to House Stark and so we come to an average of ~9,2/10. Throbb were very much in the lead here (22/37) and surprisingly there was a concept that was often repeated by the throbb people who picked this option involving Theon staying in the North somewhere in a cottage in a semi-delusional state of mind and regularly hallucinating Robb as a positive presence in his life. Some mentioned Asha, Wex and/or Sansa as people who visited him but for some reason Jeyne was never included although the answers came from people who claimed to have read the books. Here's an example:
Someone had this post on tumblr where he gets to heal in a cottage in the North and lives alone but for Wex who takes care of him and Robb who is still dead but Theon hallucinates him and the two finally get to be in love and happy but he's not real and theon is lying to himself because not having robb at his side would make life unbearable how is he supposed to move on without him? how can he be happy when the only person who truly loved him is gone because of him? Sansa visits him and she is warm and kind and plays along because she understands his pain
Prophet of the Drowned God
I was mostly just surprised that it was such a popular option given how I haven't seen it explored a lot in the current fandom. Theon's religious arc is a personal point of interest for me since it mirrors Aeron's but I rarely see the fandom taking it into account. The House Stark average score reached ~6,5/10 and prefered ships were distributed properly. This whoever was the only case in which the Theon & Aeron and Theon & Euron relationships were picked more often than Theon & Alannys, still lower than Asha but significantly more popular in this group.
Sadly there weren't any answers that expanded on this more, but this possibility caught my attention.
he is the drowned God (i’m joking but am i)
Bran's Prophet
Average House Stark score of ~5,7/10 which was slightly below the total average. There weren't any strong shipping preferences although it was not surprsing but remarkable to see almost all those who had Bran as one of their favourite POV characters (9/10) pick this while only 4/10 were fond of the "Dies for the Starks/Bran" option. A majority of of those who picked this option got to interact with the books before the show (30/47).
Theon finding his place at bran's side, and bran forgiving him for his misdeeds. But i need it at the ultimate snail's pace.
Dies for the Starks/Bran
Only three out of the voters also marked the option of him becoming King/Lord of the Iron Islands, the vast majority preferred throbb as a ship (16 out of this subset.about ~34,7% of all throbb shippers) and the overall House Stark ranking was of ~7,1/10. Overall many on this subset rejected the idea that he could have fit into the Iron Islands had he returned sooner or never been taken and a surprising number explained that an endgame they'd loath would be him getting into a ruling position.
i don't want him to be given a position of honor or power. he is a fundamentally changed character who is highly traumatized and disabled both mentally and physically as well as being haunted by the ghosts of his past. there is no possible way for it to make sense that he is given power over a sheep farm let alone a kingdom
Dies by Stannis' hand
Sadly nothing really remarkable. No disproportionate shipping tendencies and an average score for House Stark of ~5,7/10. Those who chose this option weren't majorly from any specific demographies or tended to choose a specific option for themes. Slightly disappointing since I was curious. I did however find it interesting that out of those who chose this option, everyone also picked the "At the wall" possibility.
Stannis is going to kill him and I've made my peace with that.
Dies by Ramsay's hand
Not many strong tendencies. The House Stark score was on an average of 5,6/10 and out of the people who picked this alternative only 2/8 were thramsay people. The rest were two throbs, one theyne, one theonsa and the other two didn't pick any preferred ships. Opinions on House Stark differed greatly although in this case it wasn't tied to ships and the throbb and theonsa people gave it rather low ratings. Something that picked my attention is how the eight people here were also inclined to choose "Dies a traitor's death" as a possibility they'd be content with. Thematically I can imagine why but it still was surprising to me.
Dies heroically and publicly redeemed
Average House Stark score of ~5,8/10. There weren't any strong shipping tendencies. It didn't even strongly contrast with the "Dies a traitor's death with only a few people remembering him fondly" option since 10 of it's voters would have also been content with that option. There wasn't anything noticeable when it came to preferred themes either.
Dies a traitor's death with only a few people remembering him fondly
A significant number (11/14≈ 78% ) of thramsay shippers picked this option and the average score of House Stark in this subset was of ~3,1/10. Very fun for me to observe, I didn't think this option would show any clear tendencies but it did. When it came to chosen themes there was something interesting going on. Nr.3 (the most chosen one out of all voters) was only chosen three times by people who picked this possibility although there wasn't a clear preference for another specific set of themes.
It would feel deeply wrong to me if he died heroically and was lauded after his death. It feels like so much of his story is about accountability and living with your mistakes/regrets and and ending like that would completely undermine that message. I also hate the idea of him being in some sort of position serving the Starks because feeling beholden to them was the source of so much of his discontent and issues to begin with. I think the most satisfying ending would be one where Theon gets to be his own person, not who anyone else wants or expects him to be.
Here are some of the wish fulfilment answers that I am allowed to quote and either proposed less common endings or expanded on the common ones in case you are curious. The question on the survey was:
What would be your ideal Theon endgame? You can list more than one concept/scenario. It can be as unrealistic as you want. This is pure wish fulfilment.
listen i just want him to kill ramsay it'll be satisfying
Away! Free cities! Go live and be free, my beautiful damaged honeybee
Half of his ashes are buried with Robb and the rest are thrown in the sea
Asha's hand on the Iron Islands or in the wild north like Jon in the show
I'd like him to survive, but I'd like him to strike out as a common man. I'd enjoy it if he could abandon his noble origins and just be Theon.
Theon living a simple life in the North, maybe by the coast. Asha comes to visit sometimes. He can't use a bow anymore but he has a sweet old horse to keep him company.
him fighting at winterfell against the others and dying. history remembering his terrible deeds but the people who knew him remembering his acts of kindness and bravery.
i really want him to be a kind of diplomat between the iron islands and the north, moving between the two families and homes he has ever known. finally being a greyjoy and a stark
made to take the black, living out the rest of his days on the wall unrecognizable and quietly introspective, ignoring the imminent magic war. or some sort of prophet/mouthpiece of the old gods.
My ideal scenario is that Sansa is queen in the north, Asha is queen of the iron isles. Sansa/Theon is a purely political marriage alliance with Theon getting to live in Winterfell with Jeyne living there as well, and he gets to heal from trauma.
Puppet king or not even a king (but either way, Asha did use him with his consent so she could take the Seastone Chair), living in the Iron Islands. Healing, maybe with Jeyne, perhaps not. Not sure he seeks fatherhood, may be satisfied as an uncle. Possibly a prophet/diplomat to Bran's court on the Isle of Faces.
As horrible as this may sound considering he is my favorite character, I do wish that by the end of the series he's dead. Not in TWOW yet and definitely not by being executed by Stannis. I can't really say how I wished it would happen. The show version doesn't really feel exactly right for book Theon, but I still think it'd have something to do with Bran.
Get the guy to a place where he can belong. Get him to a place where he can have agency, and a purpose that he stands behind. Get him to a place where he can heal and recover as much as possible. I can also see him taking on a mentor role for children of some sort, seeing as he's haunted by the ones he killed/ordered to have killed to be placed as fBran and fRickon
I truly have no idea. Hair grows in black again 😂. Um vibing with Jon on the wall, or if Jon's not on the wall being some advisor or something for him. He could do something with Asha too. I'd like for him to talk with bran cuz it seems they've almost spoken through trees and such. I guess I'd be content if Theon was content I don't know what that looks like for him
I think it would be great if he died in a way that made him feel heroic but he was not remembered heroically. Maybe a death no one else knew about but which saved lives etc. I'd like to have someone offhandedly mention finding his body (ideally not even knowing who he is) and burying him an an unmarked grave. Nameless and landless for all eternity, not even the king of his own resting place.
My ideal Theon endgame is him returning to the Iron Islands eventually, and facing his sister/Euron again/at least once. I want his arc to entwine with Aeron's somehow, and I want more interaction with his seemingly prophetic abilities. I don't think I'd want him to stay in the Iron Islands, though. I'd like it if he eventually travelled abroad/was exiled to Essos, or another land removed from the conflict. Puppet king Theon with Asha is also great!
Idk tbh. My ideal endgame is he escapes with Robb when they are kids and go live in dorne or something lol Hmm. Actually tho. I think I would be very happy with him joining the free folk somehow. Becoming besties with mance. And then the white walkers end up being a physical manifestation of their society’s disconnection with nature and magic and suppression of different ways of life. And the free folk + bran + Daenerys, missandrei and co end up being instrumental in helping the threat end without reproducing even more violence. And Theon gets a wonderful wildling husband or wife and lives happily ever after cjvghxh
Maybe as Sansa’s king consort ? I think with all her shit marriage, this one would be her endgame, he would sometimes advise her and would aid Yara to make her peace known through the Iron Islands, maybe he would take a summer isle in Essos where he and his Queen could rest from time to time, leaving Winterfell under Jon’s command and they eventually retire there and die of old age back in the North where they belonged : Theon would die as : Theon Greyjoy Stark, King Consort of the North, Prince of Pike and the Iron Wolf. And how great it would be if Winterfell became a home to parent less children or batards, all children of Queen Sansa and King consort Theon
Alive, his hair grows in black again, he spends his life travelling across the Kingdoms for various propaganda purposes and makes meaningful connections with people of many ilks. Seer Theon who connects with the Gods of all places. Occasionally he returns to places that are significant to him as a matter of routine (the Iron Islands etc) and sees people he once knew. They're all older and scarred and only able to spend so much time in each other's company before the Pain sets in but they enjoy the spurts of connection they have. I would like to see Theon managing his chronic pain relatively successfully. The idea of him having a bastard from the before times is also appealing to me
I don't know!! I kind of hate them all. All my happy endings require no ramsay, and I don't want that. I think I'd want to know more about his post ramsay health and body to inform the answer... I'd like Asha to rule the iron Islands I think. I don't want theon to serve the starks. I don't want him to rule anything. Sometimes I think I want him to retire in a cottage but that's so sad. Consigned to a life of retirement and isolation at age 20 simply because of disability and trauma? Fuck that. I know people could visit him in the cottage but idk man. I want the narrative to leave him alone, but I want hope. He can't die. I don't need or even want him to have prestige, just security. He is 20 years old! He has his entire life ahead of him!! I really have no idea my friend.
I want him to live AND be FREE. He’s been stuck between options, he can choose one or the other or not choose at all and be punished either way - he must be given the agency he has always lacked. It could be an ending that a lot of characters need or deserve but for me: that’s Theon’s ending. After his arc it’s the one that suits him most. Like…. him realising that he struggled so much because he never knew what he really wanted, that he strived for something that would never satiate him, would never work out. And for all he’s been through and committed I can’t see him in a ruling position, or being another servant. No I want him to escape from all that. I want him to live, free to come to terms with his guilt and his suffering and that he survived his life being ruined, he survived death which means he should get to choose his new life
I would love to see him in power honestly, taking the lessons he learned and applying them. Will they be good? what has he learned about arrogance, cruelty and power? would he make a good leader? or would he just be repulsed by all those things? has he learned the right lessons? he has done a very brave and morally righteous thing but will he keep doing it in more complicated scenarios? what role hed play in saving the world from the ice zombies? would he help bran? Wouldn't it be awesome to see what he would do in the iron islands? how he would help it's people? will he keep on saving Jeyne? what will be their relationship? will probably never see any of this but something I'd really really like is that "no more fucks left to give" and "smiling through torture and broken teeth" attitude theon has on the sample chapter, seeing him interact with Asha and Jeyne would be amazing. Maybe even Dagmar and his mom...
Hmm. Some position of influence/power on the Islands (Lord Commander of the Iron Fleet, Asha’s Hand, co-ruler with Asha, something like that) and general social integration (having respect from people generally as well as managing to re-connect with old friends/acquaintances or making new ones to where he has a genuine social support network that’s not just 1 or 2 people). In my dreams, he’s also managed to recover/heal from his trauma and injuries both physically and mentally/emotionally to the furthest extent even remotely realistically possible. Which would still likely leave him with some PTSD/anxiety/etc issues but ideally at a highly manageable level and ideally his physical injuries would be compensated for as much as possible (perhaps even with some help from fantasy-magic-healing-that-mimics-modern-medicine lol) so he can still participate in normal activities from archery to dancing to fucking eating, even if with some unavoidable limitations/issues. (His hair is growing in black again after a while, you can fight me.) He’s got a close and mostly-functional relationship with Asha. I’m a little less hung up on the romantic aspect here, but if we’re talking like 100% wish fulfillment of the fuzziest sort… Married to Jeyne and still capable of procreating a child (even if they gotta get a bit creative about it), and Asha names said child her heir. (Listen. You said pure wish fulfillment was acceptable so…)
(if the last person I quoted here reads this: I am very happy you took me by my word. The more wish fulfilment people wrote for this question the better this was for my understandings!)
Also, if anyone has any other questions please feel free to send them. This took longer than usual because I was recently visited by a friend and there were some other personal impediments, but I try to get to them as fast as I can.

Fanon vs canon
Writing on my cellphone so...hm, bear with me. I've got experience in seeing the fandom cultures and know by now how popular fanon are regarded as canon even if they are against canon.
Sometimes I can partake in this. Especially if is about a character we like.
In MHA, its amazing how there few fanons that actually help Izu. Not saying it doesnt exist (people are free to still love and make dekusquad arts but well...Hori murder that for me) but in most the fanon is not helping Izu at all
"We need to explore quirkless discrimination"
Which many people dont want to admit how...quirkless discrimination is more "Izu being abused"
The fics with this tag...are usually the ones where Izu has to face extra shit "or you pau the rent or you die" situation. It's usually ONLY Izu who faces those situations.
Let me ask you smth: where was in canon quirkless being denied anythig? They can't be hero which ...makes sense. But show me quirkless being treated as less.
Let me ask smth else, if the whole concept of "people with strong quirk can do whatever" why this courtesy isnt offered to Izu? His quirk is powerful.
I tell you why...quirkless discrimination exists soley for Izu abuse. Am, while his past is still a mystery, doesnt seem a person who had a relatively happy childhood.
Izu was abused by BK not bc...he lack a quirk but bc BK is a sociopath. In his view, he thinks Izu looks down on him and that's it. Its his greenlight to make his life hell.
Fanon often shows Aldera as a hellhole where "we need to stone Izu, the quirkless" which makes 0 sense.
Tumblr media
Like, if Aldera really has a massive hate boner with Izu for being quirkless...why Inko enroll her son there? I have issues with Inko but she does love Izu...so I find hard to believe she would enroll him in a "quirkless need to die" at all. Either she is evil or Aldera puts the best act in the world.
I go further and I think Aldera did healed Izu...when BK went after him. Again, not defending that school they have sins and should have consequences but like....I can see them healing the students (lets not forget bk's quirk could leave severe demages on Izu) unlike RG who is "if you dont stop breaking your bones...I will stop healing you"
Many fics put Aldera as a hellhole while put UA as the best....my ninja, my guy. UA is worse than Aldera. Aizawa is a bad teacher who has a wierd biases against Izu.
The Aldera senseis failed the students bc they let bk do whatever.
UA fails Izu and blames him. There's many criticism to read about Aizawa...the man shouldn't be a teacher...and also, no one points out but Aizawa is Hori stand in. Hori doesnt like Izu....
How and why Izu wants to be hero is unclear to this day.
"Why fanon sucks for Izu?"
Honestly, bc the mentality most have on Izu and his past is how....he has some blame. "He stalked bk" NO. He never did, it was the other way around. "He didnt train enough" he is training a lot, but Aizawa is not giving a fuck (he calls Izu lazy...like...huh?! And Izu saved him from Shig) and AM is suddenly too stupid to help. "He didnt ask help to his friends" WHAT FRIENDS? BC HE NEVER HAD ONE, HE DOES SEE CONIVENTS WITH BULLYING/ABUSE.
To conclude, canon and fanon in mha are equally bad in this story...bc most people seem to have a "victim blame" mentality towards Izu.

okayyy… enough of the wiggin siblings… any bean headcanons? ^^
ok I do have a lot of bean head canons but I feel like they're very not canon
he's really emotional, like everything gives him a huge wave of emotion
he dosent show the emotion and he mostly ignores it when he makes a decision so people looking at him will think he's stoic or stiff but he's hyper emotional and it bothers him a lot
like bean to me feels like a unreliable narrator
he's very self unaware
he's aware of his surroundings and aware of how his surroundings change relative to himself but if you ask him what his favorite color was he would stare at you blankly like a deer in headlights for 4 hours then reply "I don't know"
like it sounds stupid when I say it outloud but his constant sense of "I didn't know I loved this person till they died" to me is very self unaware of him
he feels all the emotions in huge powerful waves but he dosent figure out what they mean until they turn into different tsunamis or the rainfall stops
bean has a habit of not sleeping
bean thinks he dosent need a lot of food cause he always survived off of so little and his whole life he tried being just a little hungry to keep his mind sharp but the quantity of food his body needs isn't translated to his intelligent mind fast enough so he passes out from exhaustion due to lack of nutrients and just food in general a lot
he cries himself to sleep most of the times and no one mentions it
he has stretch marks all over his body
horrible joint pain
he's rather clumsy, like he never trips on rocks or bumps into tables or anything just mostly his own feet and limbs
he's really scared when touching smaller things, he dosent even dare holding fragile ceramics anymore
he's really gentle with things but he still breaks them a lot
I dont think he really likes being big, he said he liked being tall in the books once and mentioned a few other times how he was starting to get a bit to big for things and it makes him uncomfortable
now that I think of it I think bean has body dysmorphia but in a subconscious way
it's not blatant but it kinda just seems like he wants to be as small as possible as long as it's healthy enough that he dosent die
he's horrible with tinkering things, crafts? origami? don't even try
he loves sitting in nature, this is confirmed but I think he didn't properly show how much he likes nature
if he had less on his mind he would garden till he dies (which from where I'm at is pretty soon so)
he's afraid of death, he rationalized it till a point he can't realistically admit that he is afraid of death but he still fears it
he loves petra a lot
he loves Peter too
he likes cherries but he's worried one day his skull will get so big that he'll chew the seeds whole and die of cyanide
he likes sudoku, he solves 50 everyday as a short break from life
he loves Anton too, I don't like the specific reason why he does love him but their relationship seems nice
he looks nice in red, but he never wears it because Achilles always wears red
his favorite color is green but he dosent know it (his version of green anyways)
he's also color blind but no one knows (blue yellow kind, think it's call tritatopia or something)
that last one was very weird but like you can't tell me this dude isn't color blind I'm sorry
his brother Nikolai isn't color blind it's just a thing that happens with the antons key
this is the hill I'm going to die on
he has several framed photos of Nikolai and his family and their time in Greece
he takes atleast one photo with him everywhere, the rest was in the hedgemon
he has photos of no one else
he also likes enders parents a lot
he suprisngly thinks of ender very little, whenever he does it's a suprise to himself but that's all he thinks about that day
ender
he misses ender, even tho he claims he was the second best and that ender was his friend and cohort
they wherent really
uhhh this is way too long already but he likes physical affection
like he hates that he likes physical affection but he loves it when people hugs him
there more but I feel like the quantity for bean and Peter is way too apparent and I feel bad
I like Peter so much more it's just that because of that fact I just made up a lot more stuff for bean so his parts were actually enjoyable
like he's physically strong and fit and stuff but I think he has (ratio wise) very preteen proportions, like his arms and legs are really long of course but I think he has smaller shoulders and like a baby face
like I thought a lot about antons key and I think it also makes you look younger then you are
anyways im gonna shut up now
(ALSO NO, NOT ENOUGH ABOUT THE WIGGIN SIBLINGS, EVERYONE FORGETS ABOUT VAL AND HER BEING A FUCKING QUEEN LET ME TALK ABOUT HER TOO PLEASE)

I would love to know what your opinions on Taurus women are ? I dont think people talk about earth signs very much xxx
Queens of “I’m going to go lay down✌️” honestly! A bunch of very pretty, very stubborn women. Every Taurus woman was born 35 years old. Still the youngest of the earth signs at birth.
A Taurus will complain to you about an issue they’re having, and when you suggest making one (1) minor change, they’ll look you straight in the eye and ask why you want them dead. It’s iconic, truly.
Tauruses draw the things they want to themselves. They want to be in a beautiful place, surrounded by beautiful things, and not be bothered. They also want to head up a powerful family, escape into the depths of mysticism, and have the world wait on them hand and foot. And you know what? They’re going to do both.
Tauruses are (in my opinion) the most independent zodiac sign. They are one of the only signs that is actually fixated on the self. (Aries is the other.) Though they are associated with material objects and food, those are things used to enrich and support themselves. They want beautiful things and abundance for themselves. (As they should.) They want peace for themselves. They don’t want to be bothered by outside nonsense. They’re not hard to get close to (they’re very warm individuals!), but there’s always a sign over their heads saying, “My priority is my peace. ✌️” They do not want to deal with anything that could harm that.
Their symbol is a bull. Do you see huge groups of bulls hanging out all the time? No! Maybe one or two together, but hardly ever more than that. Their peace is very much linked to their solitude. They tend to stand on their own. They will be behind you 100% as a friend or a partner, but they will always make sure they can live without you. Doesn’t mean they want to! But they need to know that they can. Solitude is something they are very much at ease with.
With that said, people can sometimes become possessions to a Taurus, which makes things more difficult. Like, babe, that’s your bestie, not an extension of yourself! When the mind is set to view things as either “mine” or “not mine”, things can sometimes get a bit murky. There might be times when a person expressing their own personhood in a way that goes against what a Taurus believes or likes can cause them to go a bit haywire. They can, and do, take it personally.
I think when you analyze Tauruses through the Scorpio-Taurus axis, you finally get to see what’s under the surface. Though people have less immediate reactions to them, Tauruses are much like Scorpios in the way they navigate. Tauruses are more inviting, but they’re just as powerful and intentional. A Taurus is slow to anger, they don’t forgive, and they know themselves inside and out, nothing you say can change them. A Taurus is a Scorpio who learned how to play nice(ish).
Taurus is cautious. They worry that their abundance, despite it being boundless, might run out one day and they will have nothing. The *lack* of anything terrifies them. And the idea of someone taking it from them is almost worse. It takes a while for a Taurus to move from “mine” to “ours”. They will give the entire world to you, if they feel they have enough for themselves. Security is deeply important to them.
Tauruses love growth, but hate change. It’s a fun predicament they’re constantly in. They’re not in the business of reinvention, that feels fake to them. For them, growth is about cultivating what is already there, and making it better. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel if the wheel is already doing it’s job. “You take what you have, and you grow it into something better.” Is a Taurus motto. Where Scorpio will set the forest ablaze and clear the ground so new brand new trees can grow, Taurus will painstakingly weed, water, and tend the forest so it can bloom again. Taurus finds the value in established things, and works to keep them in order.
I think it’s hard to talk about Tauruses because all of that is very much occurring under the surface. On the surface, they don’t appear to be very deep. A joke about Tauruses loving sleep and food and never wanting to lose an argument is pretty much all most people will give.
Anyway, I want to beg the Tauruses to let the spirit of change and flexibility enter their hearts occasionally. 💛 The rest of the fixed signs need this message, but you guys especially. 💛

sometimes i think of an interesting fic concept for a fandom other than this one and think to myself, “gee, this is such a good and obvious concept, surely theres fics like this out there” or “ooh, this piece of media had enough dark elements, surely there has to be some good grimdark aus somewhere” and then i open ao3 and am forcibly reminded of the fact that the dream smp is the only fandom that isn’t obsessed with slash fics and i just have to wallow in the lack of nice content and my own inability to write (and, lets be honest here, commitment to most fandoms outside of the dsmp atm)
like genuinely, i dont think i can name a single fandom outside of the dream smp that has such a wide array of found family/friendship centered fics
stranger things? its all steddie or byler (as much as i love the both), etc.
my hero? its all bakudeku or tododeku or shindeku or literally everyone with deku.
detroit become human? its all hank and connor or connor and gavin or gavin and nines or markus and simon, etc.
our flag means death? its all co-captains (as much as i adore them as well) or steddy hands, etc.
the mcu? its all stucky or stony (or incest or selfcest lmao), etc.
sander sides? its all prinxiety or analogical or moralogical or lamp or lampd or whatever the new lamp plus janus and remus ship name is (yes more selfcest), etc.
gotham tv? its all nygmobblepot or jim and oswald or bruce and jeremiah (which i have so many questions about, but that is not the point of this post lmao)
etc etc
and i genuinely think its to a lot of these fandom’s detriments that everything has to be centered around a ship no matter what (esp mcu spiderman, pleASE GOD JUST GIVE ME GOOD POST NWH PETER PARKER ANGST THE CLOSEST THING IVE GOTTEN IS FUCKING SPIDERMAN!TOMMYINNIT AUS DO YOU SEE MY PROBLEM) because it really stops fandoms and fan-creators from really exploring the platonic and familial relationships between these characters and that exploration being in the main spotlight.
like sure, steddie is great, but i would love to read a big fic that is all about Steve and Robin moving away from hawkins together and navigating the city and sharing an apartment together and losing their shared jobs every week and continue to explore and establish new boundries and systems with each other and learning things the other never thought were important but brings such important insight into the other that they need to understand each other even better.
bylers cool, but i also want to read about will and el finally getting to meet each other and know each other and realise theyre so much more alike than they originally thought, never quite being seen as people, as the kids they are, but instead as these cool beacons of their friends’ efforts against the upside down and the government, and them becoming siblings, becoming the wonder twins, i want to see will trying to teach el how to draw, and el showing will all of her favorite tv shows, and the two becoming so intertwined that they know every preference the other has and how they can support each other through public school of a foreign town.
sure, bakudeku or tododeku’s okay, but i want to read a fic all about izuku growing up quirkless and what that means for his relationships and how much closer he is with his mom than other kids his age and how deep his mistrust of any other adults runs and what that means for how he acts once he finally gets to ua and how he sees all might as a surrogate father in place of the man that left him and his mother for the states and how that and his god worship of the man affects how he treats one for all and how he makes his decisions and how he prioritizes what all might tells him over what is actually good for him.
hank and connor is.. something, but why cant we read about how hank sees his son in connor and how it affects him to watch connor make these self destructive decisions in order to prioritize human life and his instructions over himself, and maybe about hank attempting to scare connor into deviancy, into some kind of self preservation, so that the poor thing can at least make a decision for himself and prioritize himself, and not die.
i love the co-captains as much as the next guy, but i want to read about how stede came across his crew, how he came to find out they like the children’s stories that he only held onto to remind him of his children, how he looked at lucius and saw himself in him, how lucius somehow managed to grab hold of every trait stede was bullied for, that was trained out of him, and emphases them and make them into a special kind of armor, and how stede takes lucius under his wing just to watch over him so that the boy will have someone on his side when he inevitably trips in his dance past (lets face it flirts and insults through) every hurtle that caught the heel of young stede’s shoe. how stede now will look up at that painting of a lighthouse and wonder if the problem wasnt that he wasnt a lighthouse, just that he hadn’t found the shore yet, and now maybe he has.
Do you see what I mean? How many fics are there that are like this that you can name off the top of your head? very few i imagine.
on top of this a lot of fandoms, because of their lack of exploration of non romantic relationships within their media dont only miss out on the sweet or bittersweet but the all fascinating grimdark aus that may spawn out of taking an absolute ship-less lens on the media you consume, i mean, the only fandom i can find any good or nuanced grimdark forced family fics in is, again, the dream smp.
and this has happened multiple times, where im watching something and i cant help but imagine how good a ctrinity style grimdark forced family au fic would be with these characters with these dynamics, btw.
(cw for all of the fun stuff that comes with forced family like kidnapping and implied abuse and characters overall being miserable lol - its not important to read, its just examples of dark aus im talking ab, just scroll to “etcetcetc” to skip past all that stuffs)
multiverse of madness, where instead of wanda trying to get to america and killing her in an attempt of getting her to make a portal to a universe where wanda’s boys exist going as far as it does, america offers herself up as her surrogate daughter and bringing the both of them through to them and living a normal life as a family in exchange for wanda to stop tearing places and people apart in this universe and others and for America’s life to be spared. and so she brings them both to a world with wanda’s boys, and wanda is just so so blinded by her own excitement and joy. she discards of that world’s wanda quickly, careful to ensure the boys were still asleep. then weeks, months maybe, go by and the boys start having nightmares but wont tell her why, what the nightmares are about, instead they wait until the door is closed and wanda’s down the hall to murmur in hushed tones about what they saw. (”shes not mommy, is she? mommy doesnt act like that. where did mommy go?”). america tries to pretend everythings fine and that theres nothing wrong with this twisted family dynamic wanda’s built up, but she cant truly hide its affect on her, the bags under her eyes are heavy and her fingers are always twitching, she flinches when wanda gestures with her arms to wildly and freezes when one of the boys accidentally breaks a glass. wanda doesnt stop using the darkhold. she could stop using whenever she wanted to, is what she tells herself, but she just needs to ensure no one is going to show up and take her boys away from her, she has to make sure america remains by her side, she has to make sure nothing goes wrong again. she can stop whenever she wants to, the thing is, she doesnt want to stop.
gotham tv (s4), where ra’s successfully kidnapps bruce and takes him and jeremiah under his wing, trying to raise them both to be like him, maybe barbra gets kidnapped aswell. ra’s wants them to act like a family, him as the father, barbra as the mom, and bruce, jeremiah, and talia as their children. at first this is all jeremiah could ask for. hes close with bruce, his need for simultaneous creation and destruction. a brother he didnt hate, and a present father. at first bruce is all angered yelling and venomous insults and scathing sarcasm. he comments on wanting to go home at every opportunity that presents itself, how he preferred alfreds cooking, he liked jim’s stories better, selina taught him cooler things, some days hed even complain about missing the criminals of gotham in an attempt to emphasis just how much he does not want to be here, no matter how cushy the bedding is or how nice the locals. at first all barbra does is attempt to kill, or at the very least injure, ra’s. some days its a steak knife to the gut, some a fountain pen to the face. ra’s is fine every time. hammer to temple. she doesnt buy time for herself, nor bruce. rope around the neck. she cant even injure him in any long term way. boiled water down the front. for a long time talia is jealous of the attention her father gives bruce and jeremiah. he spends long days trying to train the two in tandem, showing them how to protect themselves and how to injure others, how to tell the differences between the dead languages and how to read the basics, how to earn the trust of others and force them to fall into the trap of owing you favors. that is until she discovers how they all ended up here. shes left wondering if her father truly has the right of the world at heart, if she has to respect him and his decisions just because she is his only true daughter. jeremiah isnt having fun anymore. bruce has gone completely silent now. barbra has long since been subdued and doesnt even try to fight anymore. but talia stays quiet, even as the first time she hears bruces voice in months is when he yelps and tries to cover his face from being struck again, even as jeremiah mumbles to himself about someone named jerome, even as barbra spends her time staring whistfully into a bird bath when shes not cleaning or sitting pretty. (she tells talia, one quiet evening - a break from ra’s training bruce and jeremiah until they break, instead they’re allowed to curl up in a corner together and try to decipher books written in hundreds of dead languages - how she’d been engaged once. she wasnt happy, but she loved him nonetheless. she told her that she wondered sometimes how she would have turned out if she hadn’t left, if they got married. would’ve one of them left the other eventually anyways? would she have still ended up here? talia wishes she didnt talk to her, if only because it made staying quiet and continuing to live her life as a bystander harder.)
etcetcetc
unfortunately though, the dream smp (as far as ive seen) is the only fandom that explores family relationships and friendships so thoroughly and then delves deeper into more dark and upsetting aus (ive already said it once, but c!trinity!!) without there being a worry about weird romantic or sexual implications or plot points (which i partially blame killing stalking for the existence of - kidnappers arent hot pleeaaase)
some dsmp fics that i cant imagine being nearly as well done - or created at all - if they were written for different fandoms (all on ao3):
the dead dont dream by penink - ctommy dies during exile, multiple times actually, and dream thinks this is the perfect opportunity to test out the revive book
withered by ThatWeirdGuyInTheBush - Manburg is a real country in a world based on the 1940s, and ctubbo decides hes willing to do something drastic for the good of his country
guided evolution by fathermooshroom - ctommyinnit becomes spiderman, unfortunately being spiderman comes with all of the issues of being spiderman and having a secret identity (i cried uncontrollably multiple times dont let the beginning trick you)
If You Need Somewhere Safe by random_on_main - when ctommy finally escapes logstedshire he takes sam up on his offer of giving him a place to stay rather than hiding in techno’s basement
passerine by thcscus (blujamas) - everyones favorite legendary ctechnoblade gives a visit to an old friend and comes to find out hes a king and has two sons
tommyinnit’s clinic for supervillains by bonesandthebees (bonesandcacti) - tommyinnit is seriously just trying to get through life and happens upon a supervillain passed out and bleeding out in an alleyway on his way home from work one night
cataclysm by thanotaphobia - phil and techno finally conquer the country they’d been at war with for the past several years, but when they discover the lone king to the country is a teenage boy they take him as prisoner rather than killing him
the world forgetting by the world forgot by bonesandthebees (bonesandthecacti) - ctommy has forgotten his entire life, all he knows is that villains kiddnapped and used him for his healing powers, and the superhero dream took him in after rescuing him and allowed him to become his sidekick
its now 5 am, i only made this because i was thinking about that one video of someone talking about how weird it was that the top two relationship tags according to the stats ao3 released where gen (wilbur&tommy and wilbur&techno&tommy) and basically making it obvious they only thought the only reason you would write or read fanfiction would be for ships and slash fics and just,, how sad that is, because this fandom has some of the best fics ive read without even considering putting any romance in the spotlight and i think its far more fulfilling to be able to read fanfiction for the sake of a good story rather than getting to see two characters kiss (which is not to say reading fanfiction to see two character kiss isnt exactly what you need sometimes, im just saying theres more out there to love), and also because i was frustrated by the fact that nothing interesting looking came up when i looked up the tags ‘post series: no way home’ and ‘homeless peter parker’ lmao. if yall have any good post nwh angst pls pls pls send it my way, i need desperately to cry over a character that is not tommyinnit please. im gonna crash now, sorry if this long this is shit - its wayy too fucking early.

3, 6, 9, 10, 13, 17, and 25 for the ask game? 🥰
woah thank you!!!
3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
i remember seeing a post a WHILE ago (not sure if it was actually on here or somewhere else) stating that anyone who says "the killjoys aren't mcr" is just lying to excuse writing rpf. which already on its own is just Incorrect, but then their evidence for this argument was essentially that, if the killjoys weren't mcr then more ppl would ship party/kobra bc there's nothing in canon that says they're siblings 💀
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
i think id have to say funpoison AND I SHIP FUNPOISON OKAY- i just think they're by far the most popular ship and they tend to be the default dd ship for most ppl, which leads a lot of especially newer fans to bring the up at Every Possible Moment even when the content they're interacting with isn't funpoison based (stuff like "wow i loved this story but i think id work better if it was funpoison instead of poisonstar"). its not a super huge or common occurrence, but in comparison to fans of other ships i think funpoison fans are just more likely to be annoying like that bc theres a lot more of them and its the main ship for new fans
9. worst part of canon
THE RACISM. the whole "japan takes over the world" thing is a gross and racist trope that stems from WWII propaganda, the way the director in particular is portrayed in the comics is just FILLED with racist stereotypes of east asian women, and the comics in general severely lack actual characters of color. this post and this post go a lot more in depth into these issues and id highly recommend reading them for those who havent heard a lot on this subject
10. worst part of fanon
ALSO THE RACISM. the best part of fanworks is that creators have the ability to improve upon parts of the original text in their own works, and yet there is is this refusal from white fans that fans of color have pointed out time and time again to acknowledge said racism in canon and how it carries over into fanon works. i know i was absolutely guilty of this in the past and im trying to do better, and i know the only way for us white fans to do better is to LISTEN TO PEOPLE OF COLOR. stop using aave as killjoy slang, stop turning jet star into the motherly one/making him an overbearing caretaker, stop recycling racist shit from the comics in fanart/fics
13. worst blorbofication
jet star. people just looooove giving my poor girl ZERO personality aide from "oh they're the mom friend" "oh they give the best advice" "oh she the one who takes care of the girl" LITERALLY SHUT UP AND GIVE HIM AN ACTUAL CHARACTER TRAIT FOR ONCE PLEAAASE. GIVE HIM SOME DEPTH SOME STORY WRITE HIM LIKE A REAL FUCKING PERSON
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
SHOWPOISON!!! i love them sm they're such an underrated ship imo, i would KILL to see more of them. also i need more art/stories of ghoul and kobra just fucking around and doing dumb shit together i LIVE for that shit and there will NEVER be enough for me THEYRE IDIOTS AND I LOVE THEM AND I NEED TO SEE THEM BEING DUMB TOGETHER
25. common fandom complain that you're sick of hearing
uhhhh yk i honestly cant rlly think of a common complaint thats not actual valid criticism.. OH maybe ppl who talk about actually genuinely wanting a danger days tv show. we have such a good thing going here with the lack of canon there is NO WAY any possible show they could make would be a good idea that wouldn't cause massive chaos in this fandom. and like i reallllly dont trust gerard or netflix or whoever the fuck would be in charge of this show to actually make it good im sorry i just dont its a bad idea on all fronts we gotta stop unironically talking about it 😭

6, 13 and 22 for the ask game?
hi friend!!! thank u for sending these<3 i was gonna ask you if you wanted to send different questions bc there’s a couple repeats from the last ask but then i came up with new answers. if you still wanna send diff ones though i will answer them as well
6. which ship fans are the most annoying
ACTUALLY LMFAO I LIED IN THE LAST ONE. i think (hope?) you’ll find this one funny lol well the 0.5 people in the denethorongil ao3 tag who are just there for crack. girl the psychic situationship. that is so fucking interesting. this is like the reverse answer. which ship NON fans are the most annoying. Anyway. i think it just pisses me off whenever a dynamic that could be so thematically (and dramatically) intriguing gets dismissed or made into a joke bc like. come on is that the best we can do? perhaps i just frequently lack a sense of humour about this kind of thing. or maybe people mostly are not funny…who can say.
13. worst blorbofication…TWO!
now is my time to SHINE baby….little pathetic baby faramir is SUCH a textbook fucking case of blorbofication. that shit is ridiculous. yeah the idea of a punching bag dad to take shit out on and/or guy bending over backwards just for his dad's approval appeals to you. unrelatedly how is your relationship with your dad. but i swear to god i KNOW that there are other characters out there that fit this archetype better. there are PLENTY of sad little people pleasers out there. dont take one of the greatest bitchest craziest men in the whole wide green world and make him your little crybaby. if you read the denethor faramir relationship as abusive you gotta also understand that he is right there punching back at it all. goddamn. he had gone on the orders of the lord of the city indeed. peter jackson im gonna fucking get you. this is a guy that first blamed his brothers death on their father and THEN promptly forced said father to order him to his probable death for the sake of his own moral code he has never once laid down and taken it in his LIFE. he’s been arguing back since he was like seven years old or something. in MANY THINGS he displeased his father! he is not a doormat he is a motherfucking doorstop and he WILL make it your problem! also i don’t have anywhere else to put this opinion so it’s gonna go here. it hit me sometime yesterday that the desperate-to-please faramir narrative almost works better with canon denethor. i mean film faramir is a totally different guy so like im not even sure if he would have the same history with his father but like just bear with me here. if he knows that his father trusts him as a commander and yet cannot (seem to express, although failing to express for long enough is basically equivalent) love him as a son…that he has memories of… actually just kidding this doesn’t fucking work at all. because the POINT of it all is that denethor and faramir are the same until they’re not. sly and tactical and cunning and so so so numenorean that elros tar-minyatur would WEEP. while i think film faramir and book denethor are - if not diametric opposites, at least not. so similar. i mean peter jackson literally blorbified him himself. here is my new guy with maybe one of his key traits preserved. man when i reblog a film faramir gif im just imagining book faramir’s personality. i hope you all understand this. i just. i DO love david wenham’s faramir face. he put so so so much 100% home grown bitch energy into the capturing frodo and sam scene faramir and i am simply imagining him translating all that onto "on one occasion at least your counsel has prevailed, not long ago. it was the lord of the city that gave the errand to him." now THAT…oh captain my captain. do you get it
22. your favourite part of canon that everyone else ignores
on one occasion at least your counsel has prevailed not long ago/stir not the bitterness in the cup i poured for myself. people LOOOVE you wish now that our places had been exchanged but read two more lines girlypop IT GETS BETTER. i mean people smarter than me have figured it out already but "restraint"…the idea of faramir having been holding this back for a long time. perhaps even since he first realized boromir was dead and thinking oh. oh, father sent him, or agreed to let him go, or however it went down, and now he is dead and it is father's fault. jesus christ that makes me crazy. and denethor basically saying what else do you think i have been thinking about for weeks. do you dare to think this is new news to me im not the heartless bitch you think i am. of course i blame myself. ARE YOU KIDDING? this is like the entire dynamic contained in two lines of dialogue. i had a runner-up answer but im too sleepy to write it all out but ill tell you what it is and its how WEIRD denethor and faramir are. theyre so weird you guys. i am psychic and prophetic and i WILL make it your problem.

Ok so I mean this question genuinely (and feel free to not answer), I don't mean to make you angry but feel free to go on a long angry rant if you want to
What, exactly, is Palestine mad about? (And again, I'm saying this from genuinely wanting to know, I have some idea but it feels incomplete and/or incorrect) Also, what would be the ideal outcome for you?
I've tried checking news and tried asking people to explain but I'm surrounded by people who are very pro-israel. (one of my closest friends is israeli and she's terrified because people she knows are being asked to join the army (but she's not old enough yet), and most of my family hears stories such as "oh yeah, they're slaughtering babies now" which is definitely horrific) so I'm trying to get a better understanding of the Palestinian side, and you seem reasonable and I often agree with your opinions, so I was hoping you could explain it to me. (I'll just infodump what I know in small text so that you can correct any misconceptions you see)
So, after ww2 people decided that jewish people needed a place to stay (fair, they've been hated even before ww2 but ww2 really brought attention to it) and so the british decided on where exactly they would be placed. Obviously this made many people unhappy because they were already living there. So there's been much conflict about it, and now there's a war because they want israel gone from the gaza strip, but somebody told me that israel had forcibly removed their people as a sign of goodwill? as you can see i don't know much off the top of my head. I agree with Ireland's decision to send aid to the Palestinian people because in the end they have it the worst, not Israel (which is not a poor country at all my god), and the only opinion I've formed from this all is: the people caught in the middle are the only true victims, because they didn't want any of this, but both armed sides have committed atrocities. (Also, if you google what hamas wants you get: "[its] purpose for existing is the destruction of the State of Israel and the murder of Jewish people. Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people" which sounds like what I hear from around me). Also while I understand that it sucks that they had to take land from the people around them, it's not as if the israeli people have anywhere to go (at least that's how it seems to me). Any thoughts? Thank you for your time!
me and many others have posted a lot about it so you can go through it and read things for yourself, there is no lack of documentation of the atrocities israel commits on a daily basis, even when they aren't killing thousands of children and civilians in an attempt to ethnically cleanse one of the oldest civilizations in the world, they're pretty blatant about their apartheid and racism, its not tough find good books and articles about it
as for where the israelis are supposed to go, they can use their dual citizenship for that ,I don't really know nor can i bring myself to care. its less about where they're supposed to go and more about ending the occupation. they don't just live in israel, they kill and torture palestinians and steal their land to do so. they don't even respect the original UN borders, they've stolen almost 88% of palestinian land, when they were originally alloted about 55% (which btw is still wrong, considering that the person doing the alloting had no right to give away palestinian land) and they subjugate palestinians to a system of apartheid which is against all international laws and they are given free rein to do so. again ive said a lot already about what the fucking israelis get upto so you can read up on that
i dont know about an ideal outcome, the two state solution is logical but if the israelis didn't respect it the first time around, why would they respect it now? and why would the palestinians trust them after what's happening to them? why would anyone? and who's going to hold israel responsible for the atrocities it has committed for the past 70 years?
you can watch Al-Jazeera if you want reliable news about palestine

Tumblr media
back in february i was inspired by @minacoleta 's count the lights to make a wrestlestory of my own. i spent the last five months narrowing down every single concept i like and melting them all down in a crucible to pour into a mold to craft THE MOST SELF INDULGENT OCs i could possibly come up with. i think its probably embarrassingly obvious where all their little components and dynamics came from but whatEVER! whatever!! it rules, actually!!! make the most insanely self indulgent ocs you can think of and live a little!!!! its liberating!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway i dont have the constitution or patience or focus to execute an entire graphic novel so i'm just going to post their character introductions / plot premise under a readmore. its 1.3k words (JEEZ) and thats about as condensed as i could get it while still relaying their individual motivations and setting up ~The Main Conflict~ for a story im not going to get around to telling properly (SORRY). i still will post drawings and comics from time to time of them all being cute though (i have a backlog i didn't want to post until i properly introduced them. i didnt realize it would take so long for me to do so however.)
anyway heres the tl;dr summary of the members of two tag teams who are in a tag team tournament:
Tumblr media
[TAGCEN]
TAGCEN is a wrestling promotion so dedicated to tag teams that their name is twice as long as your typical three-letter acronym wrestling company. They've been around long enough that their seasonal tag team tournament (aka: the main setting for the story) has somehow acquired a lot of prestige, despite their comparatively humble level of production. TAGCEN is mostly ran by a husband and wife tag team that is too busy running the show to wrestle nowadays: Cedric (most neurotic man who has ever lived) and Arsha (who loves chaos).
[Taggart]
One passion (wrestling) and one brain cell (dedicated to wrestling). Taggart loves wrestling so much he pulls his punches just so he can wrestle against his opponents longer. That's... the kind of guy he is. His overwhelming enthusiasm and lack of ~grandiose ambitions~ does tend to limit how seriously people take him, but he isn't to be underestimated: just because he's a genuinely nice guy doesn't mean he can't hit hard, and it also doesn't mean he can't take the hard hits either. That title of "brick wall" is not for show!
His tag team partner unexpectedly had to leave in the middle of the season, which left Taggart in a bit of a bind as he isn't allowed to work the rest of his matches all by himself (it is a TAG TEAM CENTRIC WRESTLING PROMOTION after all). Due to this, he manages to convince his ex-wrestler friend/roommate Basil to stand in as his tag team partner so he can finish out the season. Basil doesn't want to wrestle anymore and Taggart wouldn't want to force his friend to anyway, so Taggart just never tags him in and fights the matches 1v2. He loses, but its fine, with the time left in the season there's mathematically no way for them to get that much further than last place anyway.
Taggart's just glad to be wrestling, and he's especially happy that he (finally…) managed to draw his friend Basil back into the ring under the public eye. With a little more time Taggart thinks he can coax Basil into wrestling proper again, so long as… nothing comes up during this TAGCEN season… ha ha ha HA HA HA
[Basil]
Officially billed as "Ben Basil" with the title of "some guy", he is apparently some rando that Taggart got to fill in as his tag partner. Taggart never tags him in, so he usually just spends the entire time hanging out on the corner in a t-shirt and hat nonchalantly watching the match. Nobody's ever heard of him, and anyone who has seen him around just knows him as Taggart's weird friend that hangs out with him all the time. But! He is not just some guy Taggart found off the street:
Basil met Taggart back in wrestleschool after he had ditched his entire existing group of friends for reasons too elaborate to get into right now. Basil didn't know anything about wrestling and Taggart loves to talk about wrestling, so they ended up becoming extremely good friends.
Back then Basil was a copycat/mimic heel wrestler named Afterburner and really leaned into being kind of a dick! With nothing else to do, he just got really good at wrestling. This didn't last too long though, he eventually got caught up in his own head about being a bad guy (oops!) and retired comically early in his career.
Usually this is where Basil would pack up and go start a new life somewhere for the third time or so, but he MYSTERIOUSLY changed his mind this time around and decided to stick around instead. It's been like X years now and he still lives in the room he rents in Taggart's house, idly supporting Taggart's career by training with him and sparring with him and helping him do work at the wrestleschool and occasionally driving him to wrestling matches whenever he needs a ride.
For a guy who adamantly quit wrestling he sure still wrestles a lot.
Anyway…
[Samson]
a charismatic, mildly sardonic well-known top-tier veteran good guy. Samson is legit skilled and has been in wrestling for so long, everything has become a bit of a game to him. Things get boring if you win all the time, yeah? Effectively, this has (over the years) turned him into a bit of a wet blanket and low-key control freak about meta things like "narrative", whatever THAT means. He gets away with it, though, as he's usually raining on the parades of heels who deserve it, and is a generally entertaining guy.
Previously, Samson was the longest running title holder of the region's definitely not cursed and/or haunted solo Interstate Championship, which he eventually lost in a very exciting (but normal) wrestling match. His legendarily long title run had him being his usual Samson self the whole time, proving once and for all that there is nothing weird about the title. Wanting a fresh new challenge, preferably away from the definitely not cursed and/or haunted Interstate Championship, Samson set his sights on the tag team world.
Unfortunately while still in the process of deciding who to team with, he unexpectedly(!) lost a stipulation match to insufferable young upstart jackass Chip and now is obligated to tag with him. Samson is crafty enough that he doesnt lose unless he chooses to, so this… is… an unusual thing to happen to him. He's taking it in stride (or at least appearing to) though, as Chip is a pretty good wrestler himself so its not like its too bad of an arrangement. Besides, he's a man of his word. :)
In any case, the two of them actually get along, weirdly enough! Maybe Samson's just used to dealing with annoying heels. It's anyone's guess as to whether Samson is going to reform Chip into a good guy, or if Chip is going to do what holding on the Interstate Championship Title didnt do and finally tip Samson over into being a bad guy. There's a lot of people keeping an eye on the TAGCEN tournament to find out.
Of course that's how it was supposed to be going…
[Chip]
Competitive topcard rising star asshole guy who plagues every promotion you can think of. Talks a big game, and the worst part is, he can back it up. He really is some sort of insane wrestling prodigy, or something.
Bitter that he wasn't able to win the Interstate Championship off of Samson, Chip figured he could get his vengeance (and a tag team championship, eventually) by roping Samson into a tag team with him. Together, they've been wrestling tag matches all over to get enough clout to qualify for the big prestigious semi-invitational continental tag team championship. They were on track to win the (fairly notable) TAGCEN tournament to further these aims, but one day Chip realized who Taggart's new partner was, and, uh, well…
Chip also went to wrestleschool with Taggart and Basil, but was still trying to do something with his college degree at the time and gradually fell behind as a result. After they graduated, Chip hounded Afterburner (Basil) for a while in a rather one-sided feud and took some things Burner flippantly said to him extremely personally (like... he changed his ring name to Chip about it...). After a string of (frankly, embarrassing) defeats from him, Chip took a brief step back from wresting matches to reinvent himself. He buckled down to become extremely tough and cool, then came back ready as ever to finally kick Burner's ass once and for all.
…So imagine how furious he was when he found out the guy quit and disappeared from the scene while he was gone. Welp!!
Chip kept wrestling in the years since and became the insane jerk wrestleguy we know today. He moved on. Except not really. Seeing Afterburner (well… sort of) at TAGCEN after all these years has rekindled every single inch of fury all over again. Everyone else may not know or care about some wrestler dropout from X years ago, but destroying this guy (on equal terms) is everything Chip ever wanted. He just needs to figure out how to get Basil to fight him for realsies.
Of course, Chip being obsessed with fighting some jobber team instead of ranking up is not good for their tag team's prospects, and while Samson is a good guy, he does want to win…
