okay so. skirk thoughts

first of all: as much as her design is still just kind of an ehhh compared to what couldve been, i do think it looks so much better in the actual game. the sfx in her arms and legs in particular helps a Lot imo. still not a massive fan but given i already loved the hair+eyes as well as the general color scheme, im warming up to it. still unfortunate we didnt get something more ambitious but i can live with this lmao

personality wise i actually really love how they went about her? its a little unexpected but skirk really has that abyss autism rizz to her JSJSIDISGFK love it. like this really isnt someone used to any manner of regular human interactions and it shows. i really like how blunt and utterly unfazed she is even when dropping some insane lore bombs bc theyre just peanuts to her. shes just completely unlike any character from any faction weve encountered before and i rly love the energy they gave her

i also found her little ramble about the value of life and death pretty interesting. it almost makes it sound like she considers herself dead in some way? with how she talks about there being no point in holding onto the bonds and remains of dead things and how this personal philosophy of hers is why she never comes to the surface anymore. like huh. whats up with that.

it also really reminds me of how an underappreciated aspect of childes characterization imo is how like. Incredibly insistent he is on staying alive being the most valuable thing? like this comes up Repeatedly in his voicelines. and now we have skirk literally talking about how to live is in itself a blessing. like i am Not buying this being coincidental at all. so unless they physically disprove me in this somehow down the line im taking this as 100% proof that childes high regard for life is Directly imparted to him through skirks teachings. and thats really interesting to think about.

and like. overall im quite happy with this glimpse of her character we have? i have bigger issues with the overall handling of the childe+narwhal+skirk segment of the AQ but those are narrative problems. skirk really stands out as a character and shes just. really fascinating AND funny as fuck in her nonchalance like. what an icon.

the only real unfortunate thing w her appearence specifically i think just has to do with the way her manner of speech and position as a narrator of dubious reliability to an extent is already leading to some. Quite unfortunate misreadings and/or taking the implications of her statements too far at face value. and i just know fandom will latch onto those forever 😭

(& jic i dont mean dubious reliability in the traditional unreliable narrator or like. lying or sth sense. just that her worldview is so alien and foreign to us that it should be taken into careful account before just blindly running off with any particular thing she claims)

like. firstly. the narwhal. ppl really dont seem to be catching onto how skirks perception of it as just a scuffed pet thats a hassle to manage isnt like. actually reflective of what a massive deal of an entity it is (read the boss fight quest item drop lore i am begging. or just wait for me to start narwhalposting JAJSKDK its coming 100%) 💀💀 what it DOES reflect more than anything is what an absolute maniac surtalogi (+ skirk by extension) has to be in order to claim a creature of this magnitude as a PET of all things. its also good to note that skirk herself readily admits both her highly unconventional view on most things AND that her master wont necessarily share any and all information with her - more so what he thinks is pertinent for her to know. her assessment of the narwhal as a nuisance of a task for a disciple isnt really reflective of the ultimate big picture HSJDKDKSK though it is very funny i have to admit.

im just preemptively annoyed and frustrated by it already bc its highkey giving azhdaha all over again where 99% of fandom just dismissed his deeper lore bc they took the storytellers claims of zhongli creating him at complete face value. like to the point hoyo had to literally add a whole segment at the end of the chasm interlude where zhongli more or less directly wink wink nod nods that a career entertainer isnt giving you the most accurate lore on this stuff 😭😭 like please. ive had the tears from among the stars lore fucking HAUNTING me ever since i first read it. its not just a silly pet whale im hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

and secondly. people really jumping the gun on "haha skirk thinks childe weak" when she was... quite literally speaking in past tense JSJSKDKSISKDK thats ajax 14 not the current state of things. while i do agree skirks power level is still way above his to the point i absolutely do think she considers him weak from her standpoint & ways off from his true potential, id also just.... like to point out that she pretty much confirms that her view of his competence has very much changed too? like please yall

skirk, who in all the years post ajax' 3 day abyss trip made NO effort to contact or keep up with him whatsoever and stated that her disciple wasnt worth even speaking to in the past has now LITERALLY voiced the intent to assign him the task of being a messenger between herself (possibly even surtalogi) and neuvillette. and she has made it VERY clear that she views the communication between herself and neuvillette (and traveler too) as one between equals?

this isnt her assigning childe some irrelevant side quest to keep him busy but actually utilizing him for a task she takes at least relatively seriously. like wdym she still considers him the exact same as before 😭😭😭😭 like obviously childes far off from being regarded as anywhere near an equal by skirk bc SHES just that insanely powerful but seriously. to me this is as clear an acknowledgement of his growth on her part as we will get JSJSKDKFKSKDKJ

but alas. everyone loves a "ha ha childe so weak XDDDD" like they just never wanna let that one go. Man

anyway still rly like skirk!!! all im Really hoping for in the future Especially w how i feel the 4.2 narrative while overall brilliant really sidelined and mishandled the potential and gravity of the narwhal side of things is that like. PLEASE let the interlude be the continuation to this 3rd descender n skirk n childe abyss situation i am so fucking tired of khaenri'ah and the abyss order im sorry lmao

also itll be like 4 years before we ever see her in Real action as a combatant but i am already So hype to see that. especially since her powers are so abyssal and alien in nature like thats going to be So gourmet i just know it.

another cc making update: these 5 overcoats are pretty much done! clearly the theme is fall/winter outerwear ☃

a summary of the items

fifth ave. crisp coat: i just reshaped the shirt collar and tie area, and removed the gloves it originally came with.

closed overcoat: i made this from the base game scientist career outfit. i removed all the science bits from the texture, and significantly reshaped the mesh. this one is a bit simple/boring but could still be fitting for serious occasions/characters? i don't hate the final result.

spy trench coat: i always liked this base game outfit. i just reshaped the coat a bit, and majorly slimmed down the pants. why did ea create so many wide legged trousers???

open overcoat: originally a doctors coat frankenmesh by spladoum. i made the texture into a normal overcoat and made some minor edits to the mesh.

mother russia wool coat: i reshaped the tie and shirt collar area. just a small update. one of my fave ea outfits ever.

whew this was a lot of work but i'm finally happy with how everything looks.

i love how they all look like outfits you'd see in a neo-noir film.

i just have to pack them all up and take some cute pictures, then i will post them :D

Happy holidays!

Here it is, finally - the rerelease of Clean Belladonna Cove. Just in time for Christmas.

What are clean templates, you ask? See this post for further explanations and install instructions! (Or click the “clean templates rerelease” tag.)

Kinda lengthy description this time, so links are found below cut:

What’s new since the previous version? Again, mostly minor things, but here you go:

Etokas Cho and Olivia Riley now have basic memories.

Fixed Ramir Patel’s DNA, because he and Ana kept having S2 babies and that was a bit odd.

Added my fixed/recreated version of the Main Street Mobile Homes apartment lot (where Jessica Peterson lives). This lot as shipped with the game was corrupted and would cause crashing.

I feel like I’m forgetting something? But those were the most important points.

Older, major changes/fixes which were also included in the previous version:

Connor Weir’s aspiration was changed to Family (from Fortune) and Carlos Contender’s was changed to Romance (from Popularity). This was evidently their original aspirations, but EAxis changed them - so I changed them back, so they’re now in correspondence with their LTWs and bios. (I did NOT change the Cordials back, they were originally Popularity and changed to Knowledge, which makes sense with the whole witch business).

Belladonna Cove shipped with a graveyard, complete with graves, except all the graves were missing! This was fixed (with Mootilda’s HoodChecker), and all dead ancestors can be found in Gamesend Grounds, all nicely placed, except Olivia Riley’s grave which for some inexplicable reason is on the Museum community lot (couldn’t fix that without sending someone there and making the hood “played”).

Bizarre/broken family trees, boring/inconsistent/lacking memories, recessive DNA, and other nonsense is fixed.

No townies or NPCs, except the two witches Phoebe Adams and Frances McCullough.

Other things to note:

If you play the subhood version, note that all families living in apartments have been moved out and can be found in the sim bin! This is because families who live in apartments when you add a subhood become corrupted and unplayable (like they literally go missing and you can’t enter their household). Guess EA never thought anyone would figure out how to make their own pre-populated subhoods, and/or didn’t bother/didn’t think to test this.

In the main hood version, Jessica Peterson is in the correct lot, but you have to make her re-rent her apartment. This is because I replaced her lot, as mentioned above, and I couldn’t move her back in without landlords and NPCs spawning left and right.

For moving apartment families back into their correct homes, check the wiki if you don’t remember where they live. You can rent the apartments furnished if you use debug mode (boolprop testingcheatsenabled true) and shift-click on the door, or use Pescado’s apartment hack (no debug needed, and will charge you the correct amount of money). I added the cribs and baby toys back to the Baldwin and Cho apartments, since these were missing when the families were moved out.

I’m not doing a downtown version this time. That’s because of the odd game feature that only the first added downtown to a hood will add sims, for any subsequent downtown hoods the sims will be stripped away, and who knows what kind of problems that might cause in the neighbourhood if you added Downtown first and then Belladonna Cove downtown, sans sims. I don’t want to add the option to mess up people’s hoods like that.

There is a possibility that these templates, both main and subhood version, will require M&G, because I had to open up the neighbourhood ingame to move sims out and such, and replace Jessica’s lot, and I can’t get AnyGameStarter to work. I figure most people have all EPs and SPs now (or only up to Seasons if on Mac, in which case Belladonna Cove can’t be played anyway), but If anyone is missing M&G, please let me know whether or not these work for you.

Solas Romance Tarot: the inspiration, the before, and the after

Whew, it’s been a busy week. So much for finishing my deck - I spent all my staycation sewing instead. I greatly underestimated how much time it would take to sew this cosplay. Anyway, it’s done!

As a recap, this is based on the Solas Romance Tarot artwork created by BioWare concept artist Ramil Sunga.

I bought all the fabric for it back in March.

And aside from the staff, which I made over the summer, I did nothing until last week. I finished it yesterday.

I’ll be wearing it this Saturday at Edmonton Expo.

Now for the details.

The white shirt is crinkle linen/cotton blend. I used a pattern for an early drop-sleeve shirt produced by Eagle’s View patterns. This style of shirt was worn by labourers in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, but it gave me the poofy sleeves I needed for the cosplay. I opted for the shorter-collar version since I wanted the gold collar of the surcoat to be prominent.

The surcoat is made of a gold and black dancewear knit. It’s pretty sheer (see-through) if there is any light behind it, so I had to line the whole surcoat with chocolate brown cotton. The trim on the lower edge is chocolate brown corduroy-like fabric cut on the bias. I finished the surcoat with a brass metal fastener that depicts a moon and a tree - rather Mythal-ish.

The pants, as mentioned in an earlier post, are black stretch jacquard with a charcoal stretch twill stripe down the sides.

The stole is reddish/brownish/blackish faux fur, cut to the width of my shoulder and given a bit of stuffing in the middle so it stands up like the furry thing Solas wears slung over his right shoulder in the art by Sunga.

The staff is PVC pipe spray painted with a bronze hammered metal paint. The center two thirds are wrapped with copper wire, then covered with brown leather. Some brass wire holds the leather down at both ends.

The pectoral is black pleather over a striped red fabric - detail below. It hooks onto the shoulders of the gold surcoat, but needs weight to prevent the hooks from popping loose with my every movement, so I used some decorative bronze-look chain I had leftover from another project to give it some weight.

The belt is a vegetable tanned brown leather belt blank from Tandy; the brass ring is also from Tandy Leather. It was easy enough to make - I just had to fold one end of the belt over the ring and sew it down, then trim the other end of the belt into a pleasing belt-tongue shape.

I loosely followed the technique used for reverse applique, except that I didn’t fold the edges of any of the cut sections under and sew them down, as I thought that might make it look a bit tatty. So instead, I used spray adhesive to glue the pleather to the striped red fabric. I did the best I could to replicate the pattern that Sunga painted on the pectoral in the art that inspired this cosplay. I figured that what we could see of the left side in his painting is mirrored on the right side, so that’s what I did. I’m not sure what exactly it’s supposed to represent, but I suppose it is very, very vaguely Dread Wolfish. (It just has a heck of a lot more eyes.) So that’s kinda cool.

A LONG ASS LIST OF TIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL: FRESHMAN TO SENIOR YEAR LETS GO

Disclaimer: This is just from my experience, so these might not all apply to you!

Freshman Year

ok, ok, freshman year can be scary but don’t let that get to you

dont worry about upperclassmen being rude/teasing you

it’ll most likely happen, but I’ve never seen an upperclassman tease a freshman with the intention to really hurt them

one day you’ll be them so dw

on the topic of upperclassmen, make some older friends!!! (through classes, sports, etc.) it’s so nice to have someone give you tips and help you through high school

dont expect your friend group to stay the same lol

BUT ITS A GOOD THING I PROMISE YOU

I was scared of changing my friend group, so even though I wasn’t being treated too well, it wasn’t until senior year when I really made a change and I wish I did it earlier

be open to meeting new people, everyone is scared just like you and looking for more friends

I don’t think its neccessary for freshman to become sUPER involved in clubs and all that but at least get a feel for whats out there

try out for a sport if you play one!

this goes for all of high school, not just freshman year, but I regret not being as involved as I could’ve been

Go to school events like football games and dances! School spirit is considered weird in middle school but its cool in high school

take your classes seriously, your teachers are right - high school is much harder than middle school (but it’s not too bad if you stay organized!)

my freshman year GPA was my lowest like english really caught me off guard (properly formatted, 5 paragraph essays being 50% of your grade??? a concept.)

so my cumulative GPA was brought down

I think most freshman don’t have access to AP classes to boost your GPA or anything, but if you’re looking to push yourself take an honors class or 2! (if available)

Sophomore Year

wooohooo ur no longer a freshman

I’d take at least 1 AP class if you can

my sophomore year I took AP Human Geo - which I really loved, and it also wasn’t too hard

a lot of sophomores take AP World which is a BITCH of a class

BUT I wouldn’t recommend taking Honors World because you don’t get the GPA boost, you don’t get college credits (unless you take the AP Euro test or something), and it’s almost just as hard

this is a bit random - but when you’re taking Algebra 2 (which was my sophomore year) PLS PAY ATTENTION math builds on itself don’t fuck yourself over

take the PSAT if you want (I honestly don’t remember if I took it freshman year too but eh), but seriously its not required

start thinking about college (I know it’s the last thing you want to do)

just little things like

when do I want to take the SAT/ACT?

would I like a small school or a big school?

What will I be able to put on my college applications?

like if you do community service through a club/church/etc then great!!! sports? YEs

can’t think of anything? Join a club! Try out for a sport (it’s not too late) Find something that interests you

you’re probably pretty situated socially now but never be afraid to get to know those classmates/”school friends” better!

Junior Year

so junior year is commonly thought of as the hardest year of highschool

which is partially true (we’ll get there later)

but anyways, seriously buckle your seatbelt and get ready to work your ass off because THIS YEAR COUNTS, LADIES AND GENTS

Take AP classes if available

I took AP Psych (WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and Honors PreCalc (coming from regular Algebra 2)

Psych gave me college credit and a GPA boost

HPC gave me a GPA boost for UCs

It was a bitCH of a class but it made AP calc a breeze

If you haven’t started already, start prepping for SAT/ACT and then take them

tutoring is very helpful, but it can be expensive

I’ve seen studyblrs post about free prep through Kahn Academy and other stuff, so you might have to do a bit of digging but there are tons of resources out there

TAKE PRACTICE TESTS

take one of each first - then focus on the test you did better on

one of my biggest regrets is taking SAT prep instead of ACT prep because my ACT (which I didn’t do specialized prep for) ended up equivalent to my SAT (which I did prep for)

the more you take em the better you get

Studyblr is gr8 for finding test taking tips

If you’re not happy with your score, just take it again! I only took each one once but most people improve their scores if they take it again

I recommend visiting a few universities when you’re on break! Get a feel for what you like and what you don’t like (size, location, public/private, etc) and what kind of school you could get accepted to

you don’t want to end up applying to a billion schools that you wouldn’t even want to go to

private schools like it when you express interest by visiting

so if you’re visiting, make sure you check in so you can be in their system

END OF JUNIOR YEAR - ASK FOR LETTERS OF REC NOW! BY THE FIRST WEEK OF SENIOR YEAR A LOT OF TEACHERS ARE ALREADY TAKING ON TOO MANY LETTERS!

Senior Year (buckle up this section is the longest)

but YAY UR A SENIOR

DO FUN SENIOR YEAR THINGS like my school has all kinds of events for seniors and it’s so great

Remember when I said junior year is the hardest? Yeah well no... 1st semester senior year is SO MUCH WORSE ur in for a lot of fun

Ok seriously - don’t let senioritis get to you first semester

Still take challenging classes! Schools are looking for progression in difficulty

Those mid year transcripts REALLY DO MATTER!

College apps, man

Make sure you’re communicating with your counselor to make sure you have everything ready and on track

like file the FAFSA and CSS (used for lots of privates)

tbh I didn’t think it would help me a lot but it (the CSS) actually did so just do it even if you think you’ll get nothing

Ok so hopefully at this point you have a feel for what schools you are interested in

Things to consider: location, price, size, public/private, difficulty of the application, ranking, program/major you are applying to, campus, overall vibe

I didn’t do any interviews but maybe look into it

Don’t get too comfortable and set reasonable goals - apply to several safety schools, a few good options/could go either way schools, but also a few “reaches”

ESSAYS

I’m no college counselor, but don’t just wing your essays without having an adult/professional look over them

I got lucky - my mom is a professional writer so my family didn’t pay for a counselor

Do your research - you can find so much information about what schools are looking for in essays

If an essay is “optional” DO IT it’s really not optional lol

Keep in mind - these essays are nothing like what you’ve been taught. You don’t have to (and often SHOULDNT) write a 5 paragraph essay with topic sentences relating back to the thesis and evidence, etc. its much more free

think “What is the story I am going to tell?”

get creative - this is hard and takes some time

Think: How am I going to separate myself from thousands of applicants? What is a story that ONLY I can tell?

DO EARLY ACTION FOR AS MANY SCHOOLS AS POSSIBLE!!!

such a relief to knowing you got in somewhere in like,,,, november

acceptance rates are higher for EA

the order from highest to lowest is ED > EA > RD

Early Decision scares me (schools will say they give equal scholarship consideration but lol thats a lie)

but if you have your heart set on a school go ahead

apply to other school just in case, you don’t want to get stuck starting all your apps when a lot of students have already turned them all in

Now that you’re done with applications (whew), the acceptances (and rejection) will start coming!! yay!

ok first for acceptances

those first acceptances are so cool like YAY YOU GOT INTO COLLEGE IM PROUD OF U

as soon as you get your first acceptances really start researching the school more and deciding if you’d REALLY want to go there or not

i know this is hard bc you haven't heard back from all your schools but it’ll make choosing a school so much easier

sadly, not all acceptances are happy tho

like I got accepted to my #1 school but they gave me no money so it was impossible to go

I was so emo for a couple days there

BUT! If you’re serious about it, try appealing for financial aid but keep your expectations low

ok now waitlists

these can be a bit nerve wracking

PLEASE apply for the waitlist right away

at some schools if you dont within a couple days, your application might get thrown out

aaaaand rejections

i dont have a lot to say about this but please dont be too hard on yourself

sometimes its just not meant to be and thats ok!

NOW PICKING A COLLEGE

def the most difficult and mentally draining part for me lol

make sure you really map out everything to consider

net cost (tuition, room & board, books, travel, personal expenses, etc.), size, location, etc.

I personally had this idea that I’d end up at a big school far from home but I’m going to a small school close to home and I’m still super excited!!! So make sure you give every school a second look

APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!

the essays aren’t usually too bad and sometimes you can just rework your college app essays

you can find them online, your school might have some (like PTA scholarships, band scholarships, etc.)

ok this is the time everyone really gets senioritis

i almost didn’t get senioritis at all lol just because slacking off stressed me out

but please be smart about it dont get rescinded

and lastly have fun! high school really does fly by, it’ll be over before you know it

Wouldn’t it have been… pretty easy to take down Elbatoxin like this?

‘Dwell not of such pointless speculations. And as well, I can guarantee not that this method will work. After all, this being food, it would be quite something if we can slay monsters without having them to ingest it.’

Gaining permission from the guildhall to proceed with our plan, we then assisted Arleaf in perfecting her cooking. As I said earlier, we wanted Arleaf to cook something as noxious as possible. But however, it just came out looking like it does normally. I guess it’s hard for her to deliberately fine-tune that aspect.

After some time, Arleaf’s cooking became a deadly poison. I aided her in her many experiments in the kitchen. The result of our experimentation was, of course, the secret weapon. This is what we made by the way.

Oran�e Mea�ba??s Qua?ity: Heavenly Easy-�o-ea� bi�e-sized mea�balls. Filled wi�h Arleaf’s ?ove for monsters.

BLT S�ンdwich �uality: Terri??? The classic combination of ?, ?, and ? sandwiched between two slices of bread? A taste so aw�, you could eat it for the rest of your life. FiＬＬed with ＲＬeaf’s Ｌo�� for monsteＲs.

It’s at least easier to read than the egg on toast last time. Maybe it’s thanks to our supervision. They’re supposed to be meatballs and cut-up pieces of BLT sandwiches. But with arms and legs growing out of it.

Arleaf made lots for me. I packed them in the bento—or rather, these might be better called Pandora’s boxes—and brought them down into the sewer. And, needless to say, it worked. Muu almost succumbed to the Poison Cooking while we were developing it though. Luckily, I was vigilant and stopped the experiment in time, but it seems like the food is quite aggressive.

‘I have put thee in this situation, one which is dangerous even for me.’

Don’t get cold feet now, dragon. If we screw up, it’s totally on you though.

‘Hold your horses there. But, there is no chance that this is good for my karma… hah.’

Well, that sure doesn’t reassure me. In any case, as soon as they jump out, the food-like creatures will attack anything in sight. I’m getting déjà vu of some horror flick.

‘This one, aye?’

Veno rifles through my memories and finds the film. It’s about something like a bunch of kids getting attacked by parasitic fish from the depths of the sea. They ate the fish and it attacked them from the inside. … this isn’t exactly important right now.

“Muuuuu!”

I look back at Muu shrieking out to find pieces of meatball and sandwich latching on, trying to stealthily attack Muu. I flick off the deadly food and continue our escape.

“Whew… we made it somehow.”

I muttered while bathing in the sunlight after breaking out of the sewers.

“Mu!”

If you perk your ears, you can hear the death rattles of monsters dying in the sewer. In any case, we should head to the guildhall and warn them about the chance of a containment breach. Before that though, we gotta wash ourselves off a little with some comparatively cleaner sewage. We headed towards Arleaf and rendezvoused in the town square.

“Hey, Yukihisa.” “How did it go for you? Was everything alright up here?” “Yes… nothing in particular happened, oddly enough. Just in case though, I asked the guildhall to not permit adventurers down in the sewers. But there are not many people taking up the quest in the first place. It just isn’t quite worth the effort.”

There’s a meatball still stubbornly clinging onto Muu’s back, trying to find its way through Muu’s armor. As soon as it sensed it was detected, it crawled as quickly as possible to lodge itself in Muu’s mouth. How horrifying.

I grabbed it before it found a way inside Muu. Damn, it’s still squirming in my hand. What a dastardly foodstuff.

These guys might just lead to destruction and chaos. The sewer is swarming with these poisonous meatballs after all. But what done is done. I toss the poisonous meatball into my mouth and begin biting into it. Perhaps it knows it’s disgusting or deadly, the meatball is unsurprisingly trying to attack me from inside my mouth. And when I chew it, the bits squirm around, trying to escape out of my mouth or down my throat. No way I’m letting you escape! I keep chewing and swallowed it all.

“Mmm…”

The toxicity is tastier than ever. Arleaf is really getting better and better at it. That was extraordinarily delicious.

‘I did not think there was room for her to improve.’ “Muu!”

Muu gratefully thanks me and begins to hop around.

“Going back to what we were talking about, neither Muu nor I gained any levels. How about you, Arleaf?” “I am currently at level 44. However, I think there’s still more experience for me to gain…”

Wow… and to think she was just a level 19 Thaumaturge when we fought Elbatoxin. After that fight, she was level 21 while on the wagon ride here, I think. She jumped 23 levels at once. Awesome. And she’s not even done leveling up yet… seems like the food monsters are still in the middle of their search and destroy mission. Thank goodness they’ll decay soon since they don’t have any sort of self-regeneration ability. At least, I think that’s the case.

You can get a replica mammoth tank when C&C Remastered launches in June

Hot on the heels of that first Command & Conquer Red Alert Remastered screenshot appearing online, EA has announced some very exciting news for fans of the classic RTS series. The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection arrives this June - and best of all, one of the versions includes a replica mammoth tank.

In a press release, EA has revealed the collection - which brings together the original C&C as well as Red Alert and the three expansions, Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and The Aftermath in shiny new 4K - will hit Steam and EA's Origin platform on June 5. Pre-orders are already available, and there are three different options for fans to choose from, two physical and one digital.

The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection digital option costs $19.99 / £17.99 and includes the reworked games and expansions. You can grab it from Steam and Origin. The Special (physical) Edition is a bit of a step up price-wise at $59.99, but you get a bunch of goodies included, like a "two-piece big box with embossing treatments", a Steam digital download code, "Tiberium crystal 16GB USB drive with remastered original soundtrack" of 119 tracks (over seven hours' music), a poster, four enamell pins, "tech tree prints", and a faction sticker sheet. Whew.

I hate picking my courses this semester

i can’t tell if i need to take another EAS course besides the one i’m already enrolled in and that plus this social science requirement plus the fact that i’m trying to leave the better parts of my weekdays free to be at my jobs is ruining my life. i know im taking cultural property because it counts as a “non-language elective” for the eas major and because it’s the last seminar i’ll need for art history. it’s also taught by my advisor and she’s gonna advise my capstone this semester as well. i’m taking video art almost against my better judgment; it doesn’t fulfill any graduation requirements, but i think taking the time to engage with the theory we’ll read, to screen the artworks we’ll watch, and to practice writing about time-based works, is really going to pay off for me personally. i’m not even sure it makes that much sense to take chinese either since i’ve taken it every semester i’ve been in college and it feels redundant at this point, but i’m gonna have to use chinese language sources in my capstone and final Cultural Property papers, so it probably wouldn’t hurt to brush up. plus it’s a 4-credit class that meets for only one hour a week which is very appealing even though that one hour probably couldn’t have been scheduled at a worse time. what i’d really love to do for the remainder of my graduation requirements and required credit-hours is take intro to islamic art and then tack on that class about midwifery, which is a nighttime class, fulfills the social science bit, and doesn’t even begin meeting until late october. that would put me at 4.5 classes, which is more than the standard workload, but i think it would still be easier than taking four upper-level classes which might destroy me. the problem is that the class is full now and i tried emailing the instructor but i think she’s a local midwife and not a regular college faculty member so i doubt she’s going to respond bc it’s already been like five days and the email address assigned to her online wasn’t one with my school’s domain name. so do i take a huge leap of faith on the basis that i could probably talk someone into letting me into that class between now and late october, and just forget about the soc requirement for now, and stick with what i want to be doing and what’s working (chinese, cultural property, video art, islamic art)? or do i accept the fact that i should probably get out of islamic art (which would be a shame because the field of islamic art constitutes a huge gap in my training, and because we’ve never had a tenure-track islamic art historian before, and because the class seems low key) and replace it with a four-credit social science course to ensure that i can check that off the list? and if i do, what course? so far i’ve spoken with the professors of intro to africana studies, modern korean history, and modern japanese history, all of which fulfill the requirement, and they’ve all said they’ll accept me into their classes late if that’s what i want, but honesty a big lazy part of me just wants whatever course it is to have low coursework expectations because i feel like i have enough going on this semester just with Cultural Property, my capstone, and my two jobs alone. modern korean history is probably the most reasonable in terms of workload but it and africana studies both meet at an inconvenient time. modern japanese history meets at the best time (although i’d have to leave chinese a couple minutes early every week and the prof would hate that) but the workload seems like way too much to pile on top of everything else (which is a shame for me as an eas major bc i’ve never taken a course that dealt directly with Japanese history before). the way i see it there is one kind of crappy option left....a course called Chinese Civilization. i spent three weeks in china with the prof once and i can’t stand him lol but it checks my boxes in terms of meeting at a good time (9 am MWF, thus helping me keep Monday afternoons and all day tues and thurs open for being at work) and having a relatively light workload...although that feels like a major copout because i’ve learned most of what hes gonna cover in one context or another in my time learning mandarin and taking other eas classes. i took a look at the syllabus and i felt really guilty and academically lazy because of how redundant a lot of it is gonna be for me. but now that i’m processing it by writing it down it might actually make the most sense for me just in terms of not losing my mind over the course of the semester. and i can just audit islamic art instead of taking it for credit. ok i think this might actually work. ok. ok. whew!
