The ring was small and silver with a single emerald embedded in the metal.
It wasn’t something flashy, it probably cost less than the smallest gem from his vault all together.
But it was perfect.
Which made it so heartbreaking to turn it down.
“Dick.. you know me so well.. I wish I could take this ring, i really do.”
Dick was still on one knee in the little apartment, but he put the small box down on the floor as he asked.
“Then what’s stopping you?”
Danny let out a bitter chuckle,
“The US government.”

Prompt 100
“What are you, a Kent?”
It’s a saying in the world of the supernatural. A well-known one even. See, several, many generations back, no one quite knows when, the Kent family managed to run afoul of a particularly nasty creature who laid a curse upon them. The original wording, no one quite knows either, but the gist, everyone is aware of. For no firstborns will be born to them before they already have one.
It was supposed to be airtight in a way, a curse that would end the entire bloodline really. For a child to exist before they could have a child? How could that be?
Well. That curse had… backfired. It had backfired massively. Most, at least back when blood was everything, didn’t exactly ponder things like adoption to those outside of their own bloodline. The Kents however, lived in a very simple village, one that had disease spread through it often back then, leaving families childless and children parentless.
What were they to do but take them in? And so they had a son, many sons and daughters even, before their firstborn. Now of course, most would simply dismiss it afterwards. After all, that was the end of the story, isn’t it?
Well, no. See, the curse was a family-line curse, a just in case perhaps, that meant that each generation could not have any children until they had children. Perhaps it should have ended there, but well. It didn’t.
Kents are a strange breed in the world of the supernatural, known for having a… bit of an adoption problem. If any child or babe were to be left near their land, one can be assured the family line would take them in as their own.
Fae, demon, human, changeling, satyr, cyclops, half-breeds, werewolf- it didn’t matter. A Kent would gladly pick the child up and raise it as their own. And now, they could add aliens to that long, long list in the family line.
And really, perhaps with this context, is it really surprising that when one Clark Kent, said alien, opens his door to a basket on his doorstep holding a trio of godlings, he takes them in with no questions asked?

i like how the american dad fandom collectively headcanons that roger had terrible, ab//sive parents back on his home planet
like take a look at this goofy alien guy: hes an alc//h//lic, he has traits of a multiple personality disorder, hes an addict, he has very clear abandonment issues and went on a family bender, he smokes; all those things right there are DEFINITELY trauma responses like he clearly has LOTS of trauma he isnt properly dealing with
he even keeps his dad in the smiths freezer and takes a bite of it every year on his bday for gods sake like he aint right in the head

Short version: Trying to find a place I can rent longterm and that doesn't cost me an arm, leg, both kidneys and my spinal cord is frustrating. Especially when the person making the contract (when there is a contract), thinks they can blatantly fuck me over, despite stuff we agreed on verbally.
Long version:
Me: *gets a pricey option for renting a (somewhat fixer-upper) appartement in the main city, with the verbal deal of being able to get a main living address registered for the duration of 3 years I plan to rent (bcs having the main address there qualifies me for smth else I need)*
Me: *gets the money ready, but have to see the contract first before deciding to sign*
The agency dude, writing up the contract, likely assuming "the autistic girl and her mom probably won't read it well, they seem ready to go ahead and sign":
*writes that they are lowering the cost of rent for the duration of fixing up the kitchen and all other stuff I need to get done per agreement*
*writes that the owner agrees to a TEMPORARY address registration*
Me:
Conclusion: If the three sections written in this contract don't get changed before Thursday/Friday when we'll be signing the contract, they can keep that place.
I am not paying 500 rent + utilities for a temporary address while ALSO providing them with essentially a free kitchen because I get to live for a year or two in a fixer upper.
This better have been a typo, otherwise I will look him in the eye at the meeting and tell him that this is something I am not compromising on, and that he can freely give the place to the students that wanted to rent for just one year.
I do need support when communicating and setting up meetings like that, as well as having the stuff explained to me so I don't shut down in the middle of a meeting.
I am not dumb. And I do NOT need this appartement this much.

hi river !!! 🫶🫶 i may have asked you this already so please disregard this as i have but im thinking about trying to get into the sims for the first time again and was wondering if you knew of any masterposts or blogs to help get someone new to the sims started? either way thank you for your time & wishing you + ur ocs a good evening/day !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
hi jo <3 i’m so bad at answering stuff like this but thankfullyyyyy there's actually this gameplay guide on google docs i know of that links to some good gameplay mods along with editing resources, tips from other simblrs, and graphic mods! and you can look at resource pages that some simblrs have like nova’s resource page here for links to cc and mods that might make your game more lively.
as for personal recommendations i'd say to follow the “#ts4 gameplay, #ts4 cas, #ts4 story” tags, follow some cc finds blogs, and follow some other simblrs whose posts you like! i’d also say download ratboysims’ ratsave file to play in so the world looks more lively!! alongside getting the @.k-hippie terrain replacements for better world visuals (unless you dig the cartoony look of the sims worlds). also northernsiberiawinds’s better in-game lighting for your sims.

“A man does not need to be a wizard to know truth from falsehood, not if he has eyes. You need only learn to read a face. Look at the eyes. The mouth. The muscles here, at the corners of the jaw, and here, where the neck joins the shoulders.”
...
The next day they began the lying game, asking questions of one another, taking turns. Sometimes they would answer truly, sometimes they would lie. The questioner had to try and tell what was true and what was false.
--
“Then practice making faces. Beneath your skin are muscles. Learn to use them. It is your face. Your cheeks, your lips, your ears. Smiles and scowls should not come upon you like sudden squalls. A smile should be a servant, and come only when you call it. Learn to rule your face.”
...
"Try it again on the morrow. You will find a Myrish mirror in the vaults. Train before it for an hour every day. Eyes, nostrils, cheeks, ears, lips, learn to rule them all.”
--
“She will teach you,” said the kindly man as the waif appeared outside her door. “Starting with the tongue of Braavos. What use are you if you cannot speak or understand? And you shall teach her your own tongue. The two of you shall learn together, each from the other. Will you do this?”
...
Thereafter she and the waif spent their time together touching things and pointing, as each tried to teach the other a few words of her own tongue. Simple words at first, cup and candle and shoe; then harder words; then sentences.
--Arya II, AFFC
Arya's educational set-ups are so potent in just her first chapter within the House of Black and White. Learning how to detect and tell lies, learning to master her facial expressions, and learning new languages are all extremely useful and versatile skills. George doesn't just have characters learning skills without intending them to be used either. Arya's lessons with Syrio + learned observational skills are integral to her evading capture in AGOT, what she observes and learns in Harrenhal helps her to plan her escape in ACOK, etc.
It's also interesting that some of her lessons are almost supplementary to what she's learned on her journey so far. Arya has already shown keen observation skills and the ability to read people's temperaments, so learning how to read deeper and detect lies feels like a nice extension of that. Same with her ability to conform her behavior to her environment, learning the importance of facial expressions and how to "rule her face" feels like the next step. Learning languages is new but also complementary to both skills. Her development is getting taken to the next level and I'm really looking forward to seeing how her new skills will be utilized.
